great teacher
the best math teacher I've ever had
No Comments
I had her for vector calculus. She is an amazing math teacher, people from other sections have come to our class just to get her notes because she's so good at explaining the concepts. Especially if you're taking vector, try to get her, she's the best.
Great teacher. Very clear with her notes and explanations. Her class has had the highest grade on the final every semester she's taught business math. Definitely the best of the business math teachers.
I'm so glad she was my vector teacher. She made strange concepts seem easy, and her notes were amazing. She expects a lot of her students, but if you even do a majority of the class work the tests will be pretty easy. TAKE HER CLASS.
She is a great professor!!! her style is really efficient and it makes you do very well in the class!! she is the best math professor I ever had!!! take her class
She is the best math professor I ever had, the way she explains things and the way she makes you work hard prepares you very good for the final, which the most important grade. If you take this class, I really recommend you to understand the DEMOS she explains in class, that will really help a lot.
Very thorough and explanatory. She never dug too deep into theory so as to confuse you with concepts while trying to tackle applications problems. The textbook is esoteric (just like all in its series) but she really helps you understand a topic that is not really well presented in this textbook series.
Donna is the best math teacher at the UA. Her class is not easy by any means, but if you are willing to work for your grade, you can get through the class. In class examples are actually relevant to the homework and the tests are very fair. She has lots of office hours, and is very helpful during office hours or ever email. If you can, get Donna!
If you have the oppurtunity to take donna's class by all means DO IT!! You will not regret it. She is readily available outside of class and is so helpful. I would say she grades very fair...
Excellent teacher, gives very clear notes and explanations of topics. Clear diagrams. Easy to contact outside of class. Kind and cares about student success. Grades homework on accuracy, which is a bit difficult to get used to and brought down my grade, but it forces you to learn the material very well. After taking her class, the final was easy!
Calculus isn't the best of classes, but Donna makes it reasonable. She's nice, presents the material in an understandable and organized way; she's fair, her in class examples and presentations are relevant to the homework, she will go over some of that in class, and it's all relevant to the tests and the final. She knows whats up. Take DONNA!!
Excellent at explaining concepts in class. Very accessible with long office hours and fast email response to questions. Teaches every material that you need to know for exams and department final. Super-effective at helping student understand calculus.
Donna is the best math teacher I have ever had. She's extremely helpful, always available and really does care about her students. Definitely take her if you can.
Its a hard class and a hard teacher but she is really nice and really helpful. She is a great teacher and will try to help you as much as possible. She is funny and pleasant and made the class better than it should be (being a hard math class). She is very fair but you have really have to earn your grade.
Superb teacher. Very organized and prepared. Knows her subject very well. I was a bit disappointed that she didn't teach vector calculus during the spring because she was such an excellent teacher.
Simply put. The best.
Very good prof. She's always helpful, and she replies to email extremely fast. Tests are fair, and HW and quizzes are easy if you do the work. She's also very clear in her presentations, which really helped a lot. If you can, take this professor. You'll be happy you did.
Really good!
Donna is an amazing teacher -- her examples, notes, and homework assignments are clear. Even though she isn't going to give out free points, she wants the students to learn. Her tests aren't complicated and she grades fairly. She is, by far, the best 223 teacher at UA.
amazing vector calc teacher!!! by far one of the best teachers ever!
Donna was a great teacher! The best math teacher I have had at UofA by far! Calc is a hard class, there is no way around that, but Donna is the most helpful teacher and really cares about her students!
Vector calculus is very challenging. However, Donna is a great teacher, easily one of the best at UofA- she shows enthusiasm, is extremely knowledgeable, and is very helpful during her office hours. Get into one of her classes if possible.
Donna is one of the best profs at UofA. No joke. Most of the math dept is arrogant, unable to speak english, unable to teach, etc. Donna is the opposite. AMAZING CLARITY, cool person, knows math as well as anyone, and tests are challenging but you can do well. SO come final time, her class has higher grades AND knows the math better!! Donna/BEST
Donna is probably one of the best math teachers you can get at UA. She is extremely helpful and definitely knows her stuff. She has a good enough understanding of mathematics so that when you ask her to do a problem, she will make up one "similar" to it, and let you work your question out yourself. Outstanding teacher overall.
Donna was an excellent Calc teacher. I had problems going to class everyday and getting some work done, but she is very understandable. She gave me extensions on homework and didn't dock points because of my poor attendance. She is entertaining and super super nice!
This class was as hard as it gets. I struggled the whole time and got a B cause I did every homework assignment. Donna is a really good teacher but the Math department screws you in Calc I so most kids are so far behind in Calc II. There are Honors Assignments, Written assign., and Webassign. So unless u like homework, take regular Calc II.
Great teacher! Hard but definitly worth it!
Donna is one of the best math professors I have ever had. She really cares that her students learn the material that she teaches. She explains things very clearly. If you have to take a math class, try to get her as your professor!
The best math professor I ever had! She's very clear and helpful. Her tests are not complex. Get her as your professor if you can.
Donna is probably the best math teacher at UA. Stats is a very tough class and she makes it very clear and if you don't understand, she is willing to help and very approachable. Take advantage of her office hours and tutoring hours, it shows that you care about your grade and she does take that into account when it comes to the end of the semester!
The best math professor! Super helpful and clear!
This teacher is really fantastic! I decided to retake Pre-Calculus to freshen up, so it was a fairly easy class. The teacher was entertaining and very open to questions. She also knew all of the students in class, which was a nice change.
Donna knows how to teach. Not only is she brilliant but she has the experience to present all of the information clearly. She keeps class time entertaining and is always available to clear up any confusion. She writes the BEST exams I have ever taken-clear and comprehensive. If you have the opportunity, take her class.
Donna was by far one of the best math teachers I've ever had, she was helpful, nice, and she really did a great job at presenting the material in a way that everyone could understand. She cared about all of us and really wanted us to succeed in her class.
Forget just being an amazing math instructor. Donna is by far the best instructor, period, I have ever had in my life. She knows the course material inside and out and makes even the most confusing concepts easy to understand. She also really prepares you well for the final exam. I highly recommend this class.
Great teacher, best math teacher at UA hands down. Get into her class at all costs! Her tests are very difficult, but she really prepares you for them. She is extremely dedicated to making sure you learn the material.
One of the only good math professors at the U of A. She is very knowledgeable on the concepts and is very helpful during class and outside of class. Very friendly and fair. Probably one of the best professors in the math department. You are good off having her for any math class you take.
Really great teacher, this is the vector calc teacher to have! Good teaching style and very good understanding of subject, and goes out of way to help students. Plus, instantaneous email response, even late at night!
Professor Krawczyk is the best calculus teacher at the UA. She is very fair with her grading, very prepared for class, and has a lot of tutoring times. Going to class is must because you don't need to use the book then to learn. She makes calculus crystal clear with her teaching... I highly recommend her for any calc class!
Great teacher, super clear and knows her stuff. She writes the final and all the webassign so she knows the answers and is very good at teaching. Would love to have her for calc 2
Great professor. She knows her stuff and can teach it too. Not an easy class, but get Donna if you can. I got an "A" in the Honors section, and I'm a business major... nuff said
This honor's section went at a nice and fast pace. We did not have to do book HW, so that was awesome. Make sure to put effort in the WebAssign work and Honors HW. Those two can help your grade alot. Donna is a fun and upbeat teacher. She was fun. Worked at a usual honor's level for my A. (The final grade replaces the lowest test score-usually)
Amazingly helpful professor. It's so nice to have had an instructor as dedicated as she was.
Donna is the best professor at the university of Arizona, hands down. Let alone the best math teacher I have ever had. She is always available to help out of the class and made learning vector calculus enjoyable and possible. If there is a spot in her class, get into it.
My first 2 math teachers at U of A were condescending and had major accents. They also didn't seem to care whether I succeeded or not, and I constantly wondered if I would survive. Enter Donna, best teacher of my life. Thank goodness I got her for vector.
Brilliant lecturer, extremely patient, caring, and fair. Just about the best professor one could ask for.
Donna is simply the best math teacher I've ever had. She's a really nice person and she's always willing to help her students. Her teaching style is excellent and her way in presenting the material is just amazing. I highly recommend her class.
Donna is a really good instructor but I don't think that I did well with her style. I felt as though she didn't show enough examples in class and wasted a portion of the class chatting. She is an extremely nice lady, but I may have done better in a different class since the material is so challenging with so little class time.
Online Calculus 2 cannot be easy for anyone, but she was extremely helpful and considerate. She definitely helped me out considerably. It should be noted this is the second time I took this class and the first time I had to withdraw because I couldn't understand the material. Second time with her, I understood much better and got through it.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I don't know how she is in the other courses, but when I took her in 122A, she assumed you already knew the material and would say things such as "if you don't know it, you are going to fail the final." If you are comfortable with the material, then you should be fine, but if you need a refresher, she will not provide it.
Math 122a is hard if you are not ready because it assumes you remember precalculus and now have to be ready to apply it. Donna pushed us to apply what we were supposed to remember, but I struggled because I couldn't remember quite a bit.
The subject makes you think, but Donna teaches so well, I didn't need to learn from the textbook at all. Her tests are very clear and concise (no trickiness). Homework is not tedious whatsoever (WebAssign only). Ask her anything via email (or office hrs) and she responds VERY quickly and thoroughly. She will prepare you VERY well for the final.
If you put more than 6 hours of studying for her tests you will get a low A. She goes through everything very fast, so ask questions if you are not sure. She rarely makes mistakes (maybe 3 the whole year). If you need calculus (engineering, physics,Math,Computer Science) in the future take her class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donna is fantastic. She is a department head and as such is able to articulate what the Math department is trying to teach you and as such, what it will be testing you over. She will challenge you with quizzes throughout the year, but drops enough that they don't hurt you. Homework load is perfect and she is always ready to help via emailD2L video
Always replies to emails. There isn't much homework. However, DON'T EXPECT ANY EXTRA CREDIT OR CURVE AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER!
Very nice, helpful and understandable if having trouble with math problems.
Simply put: stunning. Donna is the perfect professor. Outside of class, all resources to attain success are conveniently made readily available. Her lectures are brilliant and filled with information both engaging and inspiring. My perspective of math has completely altered. So it goes, I absolutely recommend taking her class.
She's a gem, very willing to put in the effort. Now listen, you'll fail if you don't take the time to reciprocate the effort. That's just how the department is. Prepare well to go fast on the exams, or drown in the process. People think calculus is easy, that's fine. But those of you who know it isn't: Use all of your resources. WORK. VERY. HARD.
She will reply most of your emails. I showed my respect every time to her, but she is RUDE!
She is an amazing instructor. I've had 3 other instructors for math at U of A and she is the best by far!! Explains everything clearly and makes the class enjoyable. I took online math 129 with her and want her for vector as well. Just when I was about to give up on math i took 129 with her and loved it.
Amazing Math Professor
This professor is wonderful! She makes math very easy to understand, and the lectures move quickly. She goes into very fine detail about writing notation which, although a pain, only helps in the end. Good math teachers are extremely hard to come by at the U. She is the second professor I have taken calc 2 with, and by far the superior.
Donna is the best math teacher at UofA. I got my first A in math in several years... and its in Calc 2. Quizzes almost every lecture but they're not too bad. Tests are longish but very straightforward. She's a head of the math department so she knows what she's talking about. Put the work in and you get good out.
I never had this professor, but let me tell you. I went to one office hours session with my friend whom was taking her class and I learned more in this meager period of time than I did in a semester with my own professor. She was very thorough, walked students through problems rather than handing out answers and truly made an effort to educate.
Vector calc isn't easy in general, especially as an online course, but she gives many videos and explains it really well. She responds to your emails almost immediately. All we were graded on was the activities each week, the four tests, and the WebAssign homework. It really was a great class and I would recommend taking vector calc with her
Freshman, major in astronomy and physics, from China. Online class. Notice homeworks' dues. Donna is nice because she tries her best to give you points if you know the strategies to the problem. Also, she is very patient. Chap. 18-20 is difficult and easy to confuse. Arrange your own schedule to prepare concepts. And don't wait to last minute.
Donna is by far the easiest and best professor for Vector Calc. Her videos are concise and contain everything you need to know for the quizzes and exams, and her assessments are always fair and doable. You can easily get an A with her if you dont procrastinate.
Completely self taught, her 122A refresher course is on you. Her videos are no help I had to form study groups and YouTube everything to understand the topic. Final is 60% of your grade.
Good lectures!!
Worst class I've ever taken. I enjoy math and have already taken Pre-Calc and Calculus, but could barely pass this class. She gave us incredible amounts of homework every day, I was falling behind in other classes just to keep up with the workload of this one. Her lecture videos were long, tedious, and usually didn't even help with hw.
Horrible teacher. You have to this class to yourself and you'll spend hours each day doing it. Her recorded notes were not relevant to any homework and there was no time to review before quizzes. Final is 65% of your grade. Would not take this class again
Her videos were long and did not help us at all. Hardest class I've ever taken. She doesn't answer questions, her "help" is vague, and the quizzes are nothing like the homework. Good luck if you're in her class.
You watch hours of her lecture videos and have homework on content that wasn't even covered. Had to teach myself this class. Her office hours weren't even helpful, final is worth 65% of your grade.
She was over-demanding and unreasonable with the amount of homework assigned. I stayed up with my friends on zoom until 1:00 in the morning. We were ALL stumped by the homework. She also gave a quiz on a topic that she had not taught us yet and it was for a grade, not even a pre-test!!! I will never be taking this class again!
This class is brutal no way around it. They cover a chapter every other day of pre calc with 20 + homework problems per section. Their is maybe 20 minutes of pre recorded lectures for each section. The final is 65% of your grade and the only info given is a 100+ problem study guide. The online learning experience in this class is HORRIBLE.
Great video lectures. A little curt over email.
This was the hardest math class I've ever taken. For reference I've taken Pre-Calc, College Algebra, AP Bio, Physics, etc. and my roommate has already taken calc and struggled in this class too. She doesn't explain anything and jumps to answers without even showing her steps, and gives horrible feedback. There was no help and honestly kinda rude :(
Run... 122A is totally self taught she was no help in any way at all. Do EVERYTHING you can to avoid this class.
Great video lectures and responds to emails promptly
She is the course coordinator for Math 122A. This was a 3 week weeder course in which you needed a C or higher to continue to 122B. The due dates on the class calendar were infeasible to follow if you actually studied course materials. The final exam was worth 65% of the class grade. Failing it brought my A to a C. Take Calculus courses elsewhere.
Beware the homework and tests. Trick answers everywhere. Re read everything. I lost so many points because I selected the correct answer with a wrong variable, or something similar. Her videos were helpful but don't cover everything, you teach yourself through the book. I think she would be a better teacher for in person, not an online teacher.
This class is completely self taught. Lots of homework and very little actually applies to the tests. The final is worth 65% of your grade, brought mine from an A to a C. Avoid this class if you can. Waste of time and it is so tedious
Provides clear and careful explanations of even the most complex topics. A joy to learn from. Sometimes a bit difficult to talk to outside of class, but generally replies to emails quickly.
Her recorded lectures were informative, relevant to the quizzes, and could be skipped forward. Gave online tests using smart platforms, so not a big deal. Willing to answer questions; responsive via emails. Suitable for self-learners. Took it fully online, so no live classes. The textbook might help, but the videos and PDFs are sufficient.
The Midterm/Final is 2/3 of your grade, so what you get on that test determines your grade.
Horrible. I took PreCalc in highschool, expected to be fine in this. Have fun watching 15 videos every day, each 5+ min long that don't even correlate with the daily homework. Completed all hw and quizzes with good scores, getting me to an A. The terrible final is worth 65% of the grade, so I did bad and dropped to a D. Class was a waste of time.
This class is hard. Donna makes it easier by taking a personal investment in your learning like she emailed me to do some hw I forgot about. The test study guides are almost exactly like the test so do them! The videos she posts are really useful. This class will require some extra work but if you make sure you dont get lost you will pass easily.
Vector Calc will be difficult no matter what professor you have, but Donna does her best to help along the way, more so than any college math professor I've had thus far. She is caring and active with email correspondence, and I feel her lecture videos are well made. Only take this course online if you can commit to keeping up with the material.
The only reason I did okay in this class is because I took 120R last semester (precalc). I had a high A in the class, got an 82 on the final and it dropped me a whole letter grade. Avoid this class if you can.
Would not recommend unless youre fresh out of precalc and already know the material. I spent so much time on this class (usually 3-4 hours a day) trying to meet the deadlines while actually getting a thorough understanding the content. Had to seek out a lot of outside resources because the info wasnt always presented in an organized format.
She is extremely helpful and use friendly approaches
I took Professor Krawczyk's MATH122B class over the summer, she simplified complicated concepts enough to be learned the same day they were taught. A homework assignment is due almost every day, except Saturdays and exam days due to the shortened class time. The homework resembles the concepts taught in class but is not direct copies. Webassign.
She's a great lecturer. If you show up to class and take good notes, you'll be fine. She tells us to work on quizzes alone, then lets us compare answers with a partner at the end and work together to find the right answers. Exams are completely Solo. There is a decent amount of hw due. (summer course).
Had an A+ in HS precalc. Come here for an online course with basically no instructor except 2-6 year old videos that scratch the surface of the content before chucking you into a mountain of homework every day. Me, my roommate who was also enrolled, and a friend that was past calc already, combined, struggled to make sense of the assignments. Avoid
Lectures are barely related to homework and only scratch the surface. Homework struggles to prepaid you for quizzes. 3-4 hours of self taught math, difficult even if you got an A in precalc. Close to zero prep for the final that determines if you move on to the next course, which is almost 50% of your grade. Awful course and only one credit.
I spend 4-5 hours every day just to finish the videos and the assignments. The final exam was so close and I couldn't have enough time to review.
This is like the worst class ever. It moves so fast (you cover 1 semester of precalc in 3 weeks) and the exam was awful. I got an A in the class and D in the exam. They post 5 minute videos that are supposed to "teach" you. The textbook has no worked examples.
Teaches along a team of other professors/TA's. One must be knowledgeable of the concepts introduced in this course prior to taking it on in order to be successful. The course is set up to be completed over 3 weeks, with a new chapter/lecture daily and a quiz following the next day. Final test has a retake option for those that scored a B or less.
This class might as well not have a teacher. The teaching team was not beneficial. They would not help you when you were stuck because they were too scared that their explanation might give the answer away. The lectures were recorded 5+ years ago so the teacher is not upgrading her teaching based on the needs of her students. Avoid if you can.
You'll do great if you like to be in a smaller class setting and have the prof give step-by-step lectures. She takes time to show derivations but tends to slightly rush some things like line integrals so that you'll know how to do them but not what they are exactly. Remember to go to office hours, she'll help you work through any problems!
Very helpful teacher
Donna is one of the best math professors out there. She genuinely cares about her students and tries to help them succeed. She gives so many opportunities to get help. She is super sweet and her lectures are the best by far compared to other math professors. I love her!
Donna ran the 122a class that is online. she provided many clear instructions so I knew when deadlines were. She had many helpful videos posted to use when confused on the content. I felt extremely prepared for exam.
Be prepared to spend 99% of your time studying for this class (122A) if you want a good grade, you really have can't focus on other classes. Even after going to tutoring and looking up similar lectures I can say it won't work. Wish there was more teacher provided videos such as her doing more examples and solving things out more thoroughly.
This class was basically self taught. We were be given videos and a homework with bad practice worksheets. If we wanted instruction, we had to go to office hours online. We were taught by a 'teaching team'. Some were great teachers while some barely cared. I got a B on the final and it took my will to live. This class was the bane of my existence.
This was my first class of my first semester of my freshman year and I was humbled so fast. The videos she posts had nothing to do with the homework and me and my friends were struggling. The only reason I passed was because I went to tutoring.
This class felt like a waste of time, especially after taking 120R but it wasn't terrible. If you knew what you were doing in 120R you should be good. I personally watched and took notes on all of the videos, but that's just me. Ended up with a B+. Lots of WebAssign and one big exam at the end. Good intro class 4 calculus so make sure u understand.
horrible teacher did not teach anything informative nor useful to her students. just a waste of space and dead weight
If you are taking 122A, this is likely one of the first challenging courses of your academic career. If you do not have good study strategies, that fact will come to light in this course. Donna will not hold your hand. You have to devote your time to problem sets and practice quizzes to be successful, but you can do it! Make sure to kill the final.
A fair amount of work to do outside of class, but is always good prep for practicing and mastering during lecture. Lectures were very engaging, lots of hands on working out problems with guidance from Prof Krawczyk.
Donna made a 7 week summer vector calc class enjoyable. Her recorded lectures were short and to the point but covered enough examples to make you understand. She was flexible and understanding and more than fair with the grading, often giving credit for multiple choice if it made sense. Its a hard class and you have to put in work but she is great.
the workload was way too overwhelming for one credit. the example videos were outdated and not helpful. the textbook was not helpful either. what could have helped would be directions and steps to problems as opposed to specific examples.
Overall decent professor. Having taken calc before, I felt like she made some of the concepts more confusing than needed and danced around a concrete way to do the problems. Had the class Tu/Th and mostly every Tuesday had prep assignments on grade scope, and Thursdays were quiz days. Sometimes had to submit longer written HW along with online HW.
Make sure to have all of your work perfect or she will take points off. She is an extremely tough grader and will seek out points to take off if the slightest thing is incorrect. With that being said, the lectures were helpful but the homework and assignments outside of class were tough at times.
122A is a challenging course, but with diligent study and practice, you can succeed. The lectures can be hit-or-miss, so consider using resources like Unstuck study along with the textbook to supplement your learning. Stay on top of the problem sets, and you'll do great!
She is nice and friendly but, her exams are hard.
Save yourself time and effort and take this math class at pima. I cannot stress how bad the math program for math 122A/B is coordinated. The professors that teach math 122B are all grad students that don't know what they're doing. If you want to go to class every single day, have pop quizzes, have hw everyday, and be unprepared for the final, take!
As a freshman in 2008, I took honors vector calc with Donna. When I fell behind, I went to office hours. Instead of showing me how to get tutoring or even how to drop the course, she said, “Nothing you can do.” I quit going & failed. Retook the course later w/ different prof, got an A. Now I have a PhD & know how easy it was for her to help. Boooo.
The online course for 122A is horrible; you get tons of homework every day about problems I don't even understand. She provides minimal examples, and the textbook doesn't help at all. HORRIBLE
Taking this class online right now. It is 10/24, and we have taken our 2nd exam. Our 1st exam, more than a month ago, has yet to be graded. I understand that she has a lot of grading to do and is behind, but in a class that builds off of itself, you need to know your grades. I sympathize with her, but please get a TA to help you grade!!
I took her Calc 1 class and she's the best math teacher i've ever had. She explains the concepts very clearly and does lots of practice. She also takes time to review algebra or geometry concepts if the class is struggling which was great for me. She's also very friendly and accessible if you have questions, and generous with partial credit.
She's not bad by any means but I had a lot of tech troubles doing the exams online for which she was less than understanding about. If you put in the work, there is little to no issues but you are your own teacher.
Good experience with Dr. Krawczyk overall. Her lectures were clear and concise and she also makes herself available outside of class. Tough class, but manageable if you put in the work.
