she is a nice prof....but mak sur u come to every class and ON TIME!!!! she is lil flexible so if you compromise she will let you hand in work late. givs out toooooo mani assignmets to do.....her notes are direct frm the textbook so readin chpts. helps.
She is great teacher and will go out of her way to help you out and make you understand. Lot of work but a great teacher
really good professor, does everything she can to make u understand. doesnt normally teach bio 105 but would recommend taking her for another science
NEVER EVER take this prof. You will regret it. Don't take this prof., she wants to help students but don't know how to help. very bad in grading. don't waste your time and money by taking her... Run away from her......very very bad grader...
If you are GUJJU, then take her, she only favors GUJJU...... If you are not GUJJU, then you are dead.... Bad grader......She is bad because of her ego.... i will never recommend her....... take Prof. Kanwal instead........
first of all she does not know what grading means..... if you get 59.9 she will not round to 60, and instead of D, she will give you F She tries to help students but will kill you for even .1% Don't take this lady....
good professor whoever says she favours GUJJU thas not right she doesnt favours GUJJU she favours every student who works hard easy going prof. too many assigments also but would allow to hand them late also so not a bad idea to take her!!!!! go ahead she brings donots and coffee!!!!!!!!!
She always helps you in every way, kind of hard but she'll try to make you understand everything. She always trys to make things easier. She does give us alot of work. But that helps.
She is a very good professor. She knows what she is talking about. And she does not favor GUJJU. If you do all the homework and study, you will be fine. And come to class on time.
She is one of the most dedicated people I have ever met. Will go out of her way to help you understand and do well in her class. She expects a lot from you, but she puts the same amount into her own work. I would recommend her if you really want to learn. If you're in school just to get by, don't
i love her....u should take her..fun,helpful,friendly...goodness...she is sooo good
SHE IS VERY HELPFULL,EASY AND TEACHES SO GOOD THAT ANYONE CAN GET AT LEAST "B" GRADE IN ANY QUIZ OR EXAM.
I am taking her this semester and i think she is a terrific professor. She is studying for her doctorate and she still manages to take time out of her schedule to meet with you if you need extra help. she is very clear, she makes class interesting She is a stickler for being on time but other than that i like taking her class.
Prof G. is a wonderful teacher. She is dedicated to helping students to understand the subject matter. This subject requires atleast "14 hours" a week of study time do do well. Being it is not a bobo class, you have to work. If you do not want to work, take arts and crafts or something. Prof. G. rocks!
the teacher if okay.she is also very very fast. it's hard to keep it up with her mant times.
I took her class and let me tell you...very knowledgeable and helpful. She outright TELLS YOU on the first day of class that you will spend 14hrs a week with hw in her class. She prepares you well for the upper level BIO classes. If you are a BIO maj and want to learn, take her.If you are just takin it to fill a BIO elective, I wouldnt.Good prof 4 BIO
Very Friendly and engaging. *tries* to be helpful. *However*, she expects a level of detail that might be seen as "clinical" behaviour. alsoexpects her class to take precedence over others.
Thought she was great. YES, she does have quizzes at almost every lecture... but, they're only one question! Plus, she gives you the study questions to study before you come to class. So if you do the questions before coming to class, the quizzes should be a piece of cake! Labs are easy, she helps you out a lot. She doesn't want you to just memoriz
She is a Great Professor , you will learn a lot from her. Her lectures are very detailed and she is great at explaining things. Also, if you need help she is always willing to help. Just do all the questions and pay attention in class you will do great.Labs are easy too ! Even if you are dumb you can make it I promise you !
I do not think her labs are easy first off... There is a quiz every lab and lecture! For the lec quizes shegives you Ch. questions which are always over 25 quest long.. which you have to learn by the next class with is usually the next day.. If you are taking alot of classes, and want an easy A she is definately not for you.. Very hard, have to stu
she knows what she's talking about and will help you in any way she can... anyone who says her labs are hard didn't do the work before hand... she tells you up front that you will work hard... if you don't want to do the work, don't be a bio major!
she is rilly gud...hard but once u r in her class, u r gonna understand everything...she is willing to help u all the way, once she stayed till a bunch of us till 7:30 pm to help us review..she is awesum..one of my favs...recommend her for any class she teaches
awesome!!! she is very helpful n extremely caring...helpin out not only wit bio but also college n transfer stuff...u gotta do the work...nothin comes for free...work hard...it pays off real well
Microbiology was a hard subject. She is very hard, not easy A, have to study everyday for like 3 hours at least to do ok. Personally i do not recomend her, was not too helpful and nice.
The absolute and overall best professor I have had to this day in MCC! She actually makes you work, but all the work you is all rewarded for in the end by not only passing her class, but remembering and understanding everything that you have learned. Keeping up w all the work was a challenge, but a challenge well earned and never forgotten. Ur th
e best professor Gardner! I honestl learned a lot and am more opinionated a lot more of the touchy subjects. It was a great honor being in this class, because it really helped me become a more educated person. Everyone learns in her class, even Prof Gardner herself, being that she is studying education at the same time. Good luck w everything!!
One of the best teachers! Made biology fun and interesting I never thought I would actually like bio.
I had her last semester and she was awesome. Just make sure that you do all of the homework question she gives, and you be fine. She is a really good teacher but you have to work in her class if you want a good grade.
Extremely knowledgeable about the topic, very understandable. Always makes sure the students are understanding the material being discussed. Tests and journals can be a pain and time consuming but it's manageable. When we get into discussions about the world, science, life, etc.she always has a great point and I find myself always agreeing with it.
great teacher, attendance is mandatory. she's very helpful and cool person to speak with. lots of work but its worth it. dont study last minute because it will bite you in the @ss. do all the homework questions and you will pass every test/quiz.
An amazing person and teacher. Hard work, but not unreasonable. Fully dedicated to your learning. Lots of EC built into class. Take this class seriously and you will learn a lot and come out with at least a B.
shes an awesome person, entertaining, and truly cares about students. extremely hard though.only take if you normally are an A student and plan to have a ton of bio in your major. if your brilliant and love bio go for it, if not pick someone else. She is very passonate and well educated in biology. (must be A student to do well in her class)
A great person and a great teacher. You will learn a lot. Highly reccomended, wish every teacher could be like her.
Great professor!! I would recommend her anytime.
First of all, don't take bio 123 if you arent a bio major or if you are taking like 5 other classes, you could end up dropping like i did. She is a great professor and a wonderful person. She's a very kind, caring and warm person. She will do just about anyting to help you and all she wants is for everyone to become better students.
If you don't want to work, don't take this class! It's the hardest class you'll ever love. It's only a 100 level course, but the Professor teaches you things that you would learn a pre-Med course. I learned a great deal. I worked my butt off, but I learned. Thanks Prof. Gardner!
shes very smart and makes bio fun. never a dull moment in her class
Very good professor and is always there to help. She knows who makes the effort in her class and gives a lot of work. Her tests are hard.
Very good professor and is always there to help. She knows who makes the effort in her class and gives a lot of work. Her tests are hard. Had her for BIO 106 but had to drop it since it was way too much for me to handle. If your BIO major then enjoy
Had her for spring 09.Really good professor, I'm a bio major and I love the stuff we learn in bio 1, but she is incredible, made class fun and interesting, makes you learn a lot, which is wonderful cause I'm all for bio! Tests can be hard, but if you study you will do well. I heard is more strict about pre-labs and post-labs now, though.
I had Professor Gardner for Bio 123, Fall 09. That was my first semester of college. She is the best professor, I had. I recommend all Bio or Chem major to take her. She is very helpful, and pushes you to do the best you can. She is not easy though, you need to be at your best in order to learn in her class.
Awesome teacher, theres work but you will learn a lot. Very cool teacher makes the material very interesting. She will do anything for anyone that is trying and cares. Its definitely worth the hard work.
Professor Gardner is the best! I had to drop this class because I could not keep up with the class. She knows her science and give your best and you will pass. By the way she fails Yankee fans because she is a die hard Mets fan! J/k
If you're a Bio major definatley take Professor Gardner she really knows her stuff, but i do warn you that she is one of those teachers where she does not care about your other classes. You will see yourself studying for bio everyday because there is a quiz almost everyday in this class and lab. just make sure you know how to manage your time.
Gardner is the absolute BEST biology teacher!!! She is willing to help you in any way that she can. She is very clear and if you have questions she will explain them. She breaks down difficult concepts in such a way that you will never forget it!! She made biology fun. I would DEFINITELY recommend taking her class!!!
Study, study, and study!! Don't be depressed just because you think you're doing bad. If you give it your best effort till the end, there's no way you'll fail. If you have any problems, talk to her. She's One of the nicest professors I have ever encountered. Remember, there's no such thing as luck in this class. Hard work is the way to pass.
This class is the best!! Prof. Gardner is tough but fair you have to try in this class. She'll help you with any problems she's really nice. She can break down even the most difficult problem and make it easy to understand. There's alot of work in this class though, so manage your time well, study, and you'll do fine.
You will work your butt off ... but it's worth it! She's an amazing professor that makes the learning of biology extremely easy and clear. There's no reason to fail unless you seriously don't care about college. If you're a bio major, take her! She's absolutely amazing!
Prof. Gardner changed my life significantly. She teaches her classes how to be students & better prepared for science. She is incredibly affable, down to earth and funny. Her teaching skills are amazing. Her class is hard as hell, but incredibly worth it in the end. Take notes, do your homework & study your ass off.
Most amazing professor!!! The woman can teach! I had her a couple of semesters ago and she rocked my bio world. I wish she taught more than just BIO 123 because I would take her again in a heartbeat. Study lots, go to her office hours for help and mind your classroom manners- show up on time, don't text, or walk in front of her during lecture.
gardner is the best
Professor Gardner is fair in her grading system. Just study both the lecture notes and the given text. Pick a good lab partner and be a good lab partner.
Currently taking Professor Gardner this semester, if you want to take her class just ask yourself this before signing up: 1. Do i want to earn my grade? 2. Will i come to every class prepared and read the chapter beforehand? 3. Do you really want to learn biology? if all your answers to these questions are yes, than she is the teacher for you!
I am in her class now. She is so AWESOME. She will stop the entire lecture just to make sure you are clear. She wants you to ask questions. Even in extra help, she is ridiculously helpful and such a great woman. She is alot of work, but if you manage your time well, she will make you a better student. If you want to know Bio, take her.
Gardner is the best professor Ive ever had! Her bio 123 class is greattttt She makes it interesting, knows what shes talking about and knows how to teach. Will explain fifty times fifty diff ways till you understand. Great Teacher, very nice lady. MAke sure you study alot for the tests, review notes and her powerpoints. BIOLOGY W/ GARDNER IS FUN
She's alright, go to class basically. She favors students I noticed. But at least try. She moves too quickly so try to see her at least once a week. Don't think she's the beat she tries to be funny and all good at first but then switches her personality..
She does such an amazing job making sure you understand everything in class but the problem she expects you to know at least 2 years of chemistry before you step in that class, like youll basically feel like your in a chemistry class, however shes a wonderful teacher, but her tests are really hard and irrelevant
she is very helpful, but her exams are so terrible. it makes hard to pass the class.
Dont take her if you r not a bio major. she is helpful, but extremely hard.
I was Gardner's student last year and all I have to say is if you are able to pass gardners class you will be able to pass any other biology class at mcc. I passed her class with a B, which made other biology classes a breeze. So do not take her if your not a science major she will make you work, but it's worth it in the end.
Im not really crazy about this professor, shes kind of a know it all and does not explain things in a way that is easy to understand. i feel like she picks favorites in her class and thinks that teaching at MCC is some sort of popularity contest.
I agree with the person who commented below. She is not a great Biology teacher at all and she goes to fast through all the sections. This teacher is also rude and very dismissive, if you want to pass with a decent grade then she is not the one for you :)
Such a nice lady and awesome prof! Its not her that's difficult, its the material, there is so much to learn in one semester, which is why we get so much work, but she does a great job at teaching it all.I was failing at first, but now I have a b+ because I realized I needed to earn my grade in her class. Take her if you are serious about bio!
Gardner is an awesome professor! She will do everything she can to make sure you understand the material. It's not an easy class, but that goes without saying.I did well, but I also put in the time.If you truly want to learn, then take her.She is great, and her enthusiasm in teaching really shows. She almost convinced me to become a molecular biologist!
uses the textbook often. very helpful but assigns a lot of work
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF BIOLOGY. She teaches as if you already know the material. This class is extremely difficult and I would NOT recommend her to anyone. She flies through topics and can sometimes come off as rude. Bottom line, don't take her unless you're a Bio major or you'll end up failing.
the lecture itself is very difficult because its biology..Gardner tries her best making such mind bobbling lectures into fun lectures in any way possible by using imagery, words or any specific way of learning the subject. she uses toys, and also repeats a lot of important facts( usually a hint that it will be on the test)
Professor is good. Although she talks about herself a little TOO much, and how great it is teaching at MCC. You have to keep up in her class and she teaches and assigns homework as if you were in grad school.
she is a talker.she likes to talk about herself alot & teach less & then she will give students homework & online quizez when the chapter wasn't even completed. She gives application questions that she never explained in the class in her online quizes. she treats students like kids.. her quizes will have so many sections but less time. DONT TAKE HE
Gardner is different from other science teachers. She wants everyone not only to learn, but to pass and get good grades too. Lots of assignments means you can botch something up and still get a good grade. She also teaches great study skills. If you put in the time to do all the work(there is a lot), you'll get a good grade.
She's a good professor. There's alot of work. You have to do paper&online hw before the chap is taught. Just do the modules alot & you already know 75% of the chap. But guess what? You're supposed to cover it yourself the week before it's taught. For any class. Get over it. The tests cover alot of info but do all your hw & you won't have trouble.
She's an excellent prof. She teaches the content very well and thoroughly. Her lecture and lab are very informative. I would recommend her for any class she teaches. She gets you to actually learn the material not just memorize. She gives real world examples and makes bio fun. Biology is fun! Great class.
Awesome teacher. She does give out a lot of work but it's only so you can actually learn!!All the work she gives you is graded and everything is a small percentage to your grade. The grade is not just based on one thing. She is very entertaining with the class so you wont be bored. Take her if you are willing to learn. Bio is FUN!!!!!!1
FIRST DAY OF CLASS: The saying first impression is the last impression doesnt go true when we talk about Gardner, first day I thought that she is just one of those teachers who talks alot about themselves and expects students to work on thier own. Negative sheis totally opposite. LAST DAY OF CLASS: I was really happy that I took her, she is awesome
OMG Prof.Gardner ROCKS!!!!!! she is an amazing teacher I would recommend her afterall Biolody is Fun wit her!
Prof. Gardner is the best! she is so nice and loves what she does! Best prof. I've had while attending MCC. She really cares about her students and will take the time out to help those who need help. I recommend her!!! She also has a great sense of humor! I'm not a fan of school, but I def. look forward to her lectures!!!!
I recommend Professor Gardner to everybody who is taking Biology 123. She's great! She helped me so much, I couldnt thank her enough for leading me into the right direction! It was a tough beginning of the semester but it was all worth it. At the end of the semester, i promise you will be saying "BIOLOGY IS FUN" ! :)
She's nuts but shes great. Tries to tailor her teaching style to get you to do your best. Expects you to do a lot of at home reading and studying though. I would recommend her, she knows what she's taking about.
Professor Gardner seems really intimidating, and she is! but she is also a really great professor and will help you learn. She knows her subject very well and will not hesitate to help anyone who needs it but don't be fooled she is still a tough teacher and will make you think. she grades extremely fairly and has no sympathy for cheaters.
Really nice and helpful. Class was never boring. Very professional.
Having Gardner as a professor will change your life forever and you will be one of the luckiest people in the world. In order to pass this class you must match Gardner's intensity with your studying. It isn't hard if you put the work in. She is an amazing person/teacher. After her final of BIO228 I cried because it was the last class.
I wasn't a bio lover until I took Gardner! She made me want to continue majoring in bio. She wants you to learn and understand topics. She's there for extra help whenever you need it. She's absolutely hysterical and you can never fall asleep in her class. Her exams are tough but if you study hard you'll be fine. She even gives extra credit!!!
Professor Gardner is a great. I had an easy A in her class. I know how hard it is to get an A while taking another 12 credits with it. i also know that she gives a lot of work but it is worth it. She is a great Professor and she is also helpful. just do the power points that she gives and the hand outs and take good notes. i highly recommened her.
Gardner is hands down the best professor at MCC. She is full of energy, lively, gets you involved, and will repeat the information as many times as needed in different ways for you to understand it. Genetics is a tough subject, Gardner does expect a decent amount, but she's one of the few professors who is solely there for the students.
If you want to learn and excel, Gardner is the professor for you. If you want an easy A, don't take her. Not only will you learn the material that is expected, you'll retain it and apply it to all higher level classes, which is CRUCIAL to success. Without Gardner, I would not be the student I am today.
I just started the class. She's quite amazing at lecturing but Her connect quizzes are too fast paced. english is not my first language so makes it difficult to read that fast. :/ literally 30 seconds per each LONG worded question/statement. Might end up dropping the class. I would hate to fail & affect my GPA.
She only gives midterm and final for the lecture part and some online quizzes. Her tests are very hard, need to study a lot for doing a good job. Not comfortable with her grading criteria for the lab portion. She gives point based on the lab experiments, if experiment is wrong you get 0 for the lab, doesn't care if you are trying hard.
The most cutting-edge class I've taken with scientific explanations which can serve as precursors to tomorrow's science-fiction technology. Lots of work involved, lots of that blood-test like paranoiya involving waiting on results; not finished with the class, most interesting and life changing class so far. Try it, if you dare...
She's AMAZING! Loved taking Gardner. She's really intimidating sometimes but out of class she's so nice and will help you with anything! She truly cares about you if you show that you're trying. It's a really tough class and you have to work hard, you barely have time for other classes. Taking her class reassured me that I want to be a Bio major
I basically taught myself, the lectures have nothing to do with the exam, just read the book. And labs with her is annoying. Most annoying proff ever!
She is one of the best professors at MCC. She prepares you for the exam and study mostly of the powerpoints as the exams are based of that. Don't think this is high school to get an easy A. you have to work hard as she also prepares you for 4 year college when you transfer. I took genetics and Bio 1 with her and believe me that she is the BEST!!!
save. yourself.
I am not sure why some people are so amazed by her. I found her disorganized, condescending, and rude. She talks too fast, asks from students like they should know the material. If you didn't take BIO 123 with her you pretty much on your own. I was very excited to take Genetics with her, but I am very disappointed and frustrated.
Quizzes, Homework, Lab, Midterm and Final. Very fast pace. It is up to you to teach yourself bio. Bio is pretty difficult and a lot to handle unless you were an AP student from High School or you are super self motivated and focus. Take this course on your risk and gpa.
Prof. Gardner is probably the best teacher I have had since high school, including the teachers I had during my 5 years at Rutgers. She is fun, blunt, and tells it how it is. She is extremely learning method orientated and is very aware of how she explains things and the response it gets. She always makes sure no one is confused.
Dr. Gardner is by far the best professor at MCC. She truly cares about all of her students and wants them all to succeed. This course is not easy, so be prepared to study. Read the textbook and make an outline of the assigned chapters, it will help you immensely! She is always willing to help a student in need, so don't be afraid to ask.
For those who are looking for an easy A or just looking for a bio class to get over with, don't take her. She's serious about what she does and for you to not put effort into this class a waste of not only her time but also your time. She's an excellent teacher and so far the best I ever had. My only advice to you is to study. It's not high school.
She is the worse professor I ever met on campus. I regret taking her.
She is a good person and when she teaches, you think you know the material. She teaches you to know the info but doesn't teach you to prepare for her tests. They are hard and almost all open ended. If you didn't take her for Bio 123 please do not take her. She expects you to know things that she herself teaches but not other professors. Not fair.
Is this class rough? Yes. Is there a decent amount of work and reading to be done? Yes. Is this a college course? Yes. Is there a banner in the hallway giving her an award for excellence in teaching? Yes. Good luck in a 4 year school if you think she's mean and the material is too hard. You'll be in for a rude awakening.
So condescending toward her students. I have never seen anything like it in a college professor. She claims she loves teaching but does she like students? Regularly says things like, 'I know you don't read the book.' Well excuse me but some of us do. She is into things like having students teach each other. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Difficult at first, but once you learn the material it sticks with you. The class definitely goes in depth with all topics discussed, and tons of extra credit is available. If you are planning on being a bio major , this class will definitely give you a strong knowledge base to refer back to and help in future courses.
Taking her at the moment honestly best teacher ever! She does give a lot of work but its work that will give you a better understanding of the material thats given. She cares a lot about her students and is willing to help those who need it. She wants everyone to pass. So I definitely recommended taking her.
This professor is amazing! I love her forever! She cares about her students and makes sure that you understand the material so that when you go to a higher class, you wont be lost. BUT, if you are a student that doesnt want to do work and study, this isnt the class for you. She assigns homework online, and uses message board. She gives extra credit
She is the best teacher I have ever had and cares about your academic performance. She breaks things down and is very understanding, and she's just wonderful! Very knowledgeable!
If you want to learn then take her.
Unnecessarily condescending and treats this class as a molecular genetics course, when it is supposed to be an intro genetics course. Tons of busy work and redundant details & wonders why people don't master it all. Lectures didn't really help; go if you want to look at pictures that you could have found on google images while hearing her ramble.
Professor Gardner is AMAZING! She cares so much about her students! She assigns A LOT of homework, so BE PREPARED!!!! As long as you do the work and show an effort, you should be fine! Exam criteria is multiple choice, fill in the blank and open ended. Take her if you are a Bio Major!!
She really does care about her students by giving us tips on how to study and be organized. Sometimes her class would be very frustrating because it was a lot of work and most of it was teaching yourself but she did help me become a better student. As she always says what's hard today will be easy tomorrow or something like that :)
She's nice and caring if you are an open student and participate EVERY lecture, LOTS of homework, she does attempt to motivate you to be youre best self but you really need to put in the work and TIME. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE, have to buy mastering, ALWAYS have your lab goggles for lab, and exam questions are tricky. MUST USE OUT OF CLASS TIME TO STUDY
Her criticism some take harsh, those are the people who would rather hear what they want rather than what they NEED to hear. She pushes you to reach levels you never thought you could reach. With her mindset she modeled and installed in me a killer instinct that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Office hours is key. She's seriously the best
It takes effort. If you're looking for an easy A, don't take this class. She's going to make you work for it. But she won't just throw you into the deep end. She tells you what she wants and give you what you need to succeed. You just have to put in the effort.
I walked into this class not knowing what I wanted to do with my future. This just seemed to me as a "Free Elective" course to broaden my horizons. Now, walking out of this class, I have learned a lot about myself. This professor knows exactly the type of student you are going to be walking in on Day 1, and the one you will become after leaving.
I am acing the genetics part of MCAT material because of everything I learned from her and now I wish I could take all my prereqs from her. I felt rushed and anxious in the class/lab but the knowledge gained has been so worth it. This is a must take for future docs. You have to earn your grade and its going to be tough but its an excellent prep!
She really makes herself seem difficult. If you actually want to learn and care about the subject, everything she says makes sense. She wants everyone to pass so she gives lots of backup resources. Even though there is lot of work, she is worth taking. She is very knowledgeable and positive person.
her lectures are good but hard to understand at times as she moves really fast. Her tests are not that difficult. She gives hw and its long. The only reason why I gave her a bad rating is because she didn't grade some of my assignments that i submitted before the due date. I told her couple of times about grading my assignments but never graded.
She is the best. take her if you want to learn. she really cares about you.
Her methods of teaching while fast paced, will really help you to obtain and keep the large amount of information we absorb. Theres a lot of work both in class and on your own time, but if you really love what youre doing you never get tired of it. Shes a great person and genuinely cares about her students. If you put in the work you got it.
She is the worst bio teacher I have ever seen. She gives lots of homework that you don't even know how to do it. Very tough grader. She won't accept any late material even a 1 minute late she won't accept it. She gives tons of homework in connect. You have to buy the textbook in order to do homework. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS EVER. I REGRET TAKING IT.
Most of it is online due to covid, but I wasted most of my time writing summaries for lecture/chapter for this class and barely I know anything. She is also ruthless in her grades with them. Currently failing other courses because of this one btw and it is very exhausting to do these summaries
DO NOT TAKE HER. She gives way too much work for a single class. Her grading is really harsh. She claims to give partial credit, but hardly does. Multiple quizzes every week. If you miss class, it's over for you. She never responds to email. Also, she puts on this facade of being a caring teacher, but she can really say some backhanded things.
PLS DONT TAKE! She literally pretends to be this amazing caring professor who is the best ever in the entire world but she is rude, unreachable and has to many assignments. Claims that you can ask her questions and gets sarcastic and shames you for doing so. Half my class dropped. No absences allowed, it will ruin you completely
She makes it obvious who her favorites are, low-key bias.
Love, love, LOVE this professor. Took her for Genetics Spring of 2022. Expects a lot from her students, but backs it up with inspirational and excellent teaching. She is VERY personable and willing to help out students at a moments notice. She will always work with you and wants you to succeed.
I had her in Spring 2022. not evident in her directions. no matter how hard you try ti impress her and do your homework and try to participate in class, she will always find a way to deduct points from you. WOULD NEVERRRR take her again
Dr. Gardner is an amazing professor. If you want to learn biology, this is the professor to take. Her class helps prep you for harder classes in biological sciences at a 4 year university. Having been in her class, the people that generally dislike her classes, do not study or put any effort at all. Take advantage of this passionate professor.
Her exams are not memorization, rather they are application based. The textbooks help, but her actual lectures are better, and she even tells you some of the possible essay questions when teaching the material. If biology is your goal, then she is your professor. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it. This class requires work and effort.
Told the class "I don't teach community college cause I have too, I teach it cause I want too" made me feel less than. Also said "Nobody cares how long it takes you to finish community college" because with professors like her it will take over 2 years .Could say a lot more negatives but I'm limited. Do take unless you're a bio major.
she considers herself the best professor ever but doesn't really have the teaching ability to prove it. she picks favorites and only associates herself to them. her exams are okay, she's straightforward about what she'll test you on. the final is curved.
This class requires consistent effort, but the professor's engaging lectures make it worthwhile for bio majors. Unstuck Study AI and the textbook are great study aids to supplement the coursework.
Dr Gardner is a wonderful professor and cares about her students. Her exams and quizzes can be tricky and 90% comes from the textbook than her lectures. I would recommend taking her but don't take the class lightly. You need to work HARD for your grade. Lab is fine as long as you're on top of your work. She's willing to work with you too if needed.
Funny and very caring about her students. Her personality + humor made lectures more bearable. Lots of HW and hours I put in outside of class, but it felt rewarding. Dr Gardner always wants to be a better teacher, and said she believes learning is 50% teacher and 50% student. I truly respect her and if I could, would take all her classes!
Professor gives a lot of homework and lab assignments. Her exams are application based. Do not take this professor if you have other classes. This class will drain you enough.
I was failing this class for 35% of the semester and I sobbed to her but she instead redirected me into how I can change and ways that I can. She notices when you're struggling but if you're just letting yourself drown, she can't help you. She taught me that anything is possible with hard work. I ended with a B, I'm proud of myself for changing.
so awesome. gardner really does care. this class isn't an easy A---you have to work for what you want. she's there to help you along the way always, and cares for each and every one of her students. i genuinely love biology so much more because of her.
I didn't really like her as a professor she def has her favorites. It's a tough course at first bc you have to learn so many concepts and the first exam comes quicker than you think, but once you keep going to lecture and lab it does get easier. If it's required I would take it as long as you don't skip class and you take notes and review them.
I had to put more time and effort into this class than usual, but it made me more confident and better prepared for grad school. Dr. G is incredibly understanding and genuinely wants her students to learn and succeed. If you put in the effort, she will too. I'm leaving this class a different student and very grateful.
