you can only miss 10 classes, which is completely reasonable. Really enjoyed her teaching, all of the assigned readings will interesting. Most relate to college aged kids which makes it a good read. Would reccomend her!
Reading is very interesting and fun, have to do 2 projects, in class essay for mid term and final. Attendance is required, but you wont mind showing up everyday! Very willing to help you outside of class is you want. i reccomend her!
One of the best english teachers i've had. She goes at a perfect pace and your never overwhelmed with work. Never mean, but definitely motivates you to do your work. Definate + , no doubt, i would recommend her class.
Nothing against her as a person. she used to teach diversity and all this class was, was a diversity class with an english title. She has pointless lectures i learned nothing about research papers in this class but everthing pointless thing i didnt need to know about diversity. easy engl credit if you dont need to know how to write research paper.
She is a great teacher. She is very nice and beautiful..sometimes it was hard to concentrate
REALLY easy class, but I learned nothing about English. If you can write a basic essay & know the simplist things from high school english, then Donna will think you are a genius. There is a midterm and final but they're in-class essays. Not a lot of homework. Only 2 projects the entire quarter! Easy A, but don't take her if you want to learn anything. & she's really nice by the way
I took Donna in for 3 classes, and were great. She is funny and engages the class. she helps you learn how to write better (if your willing to learn). she also challenges you with what you thought before. classes may seem easy for students who think too highly of themselves and can't get rid of there own ego.
Donna is amazing shes the best teacher i've ever had and out whole class completely loved her.
I love her! She's amazing... our class discussions were really interesting and the quizzes were sooo easy. We had to do a lot... but none of it was unmanageable, she's very laid back. If you need help she's there. A quiz pretty much every week, group work every few, a midterm, two papers and a final. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
Donna is a really nice person and very helpful. She is very down to earth and english is not her entire life. Fairly easy and the work load is manageable.
Of course Engl 101 is an important class to take and luckily, I got Miguel. Her class wasn't easy, but if you want the 'A', then you'll make sure you do the work, understand the work or errors made and correct them, and refine the writing techniques. She's very helpful, hilaious, real and in true to her teaching intentions. RECOMMENDABLE
took her cuz everyone recommended her online, but was surprised to find all the nice comments weren't all true. class is ok, haven't learned anything. She can be nice at times but is very strict & seems to be on a power trip, gets aggitated pretty easy, and treats you like high school students. Would not highly recommend her.
Short teacher with a great attitude. Class was fun, discussion style, asked for people's opinions, didn't lecture. Really tried to improve you as a writer. Do the work, correct it and you will get the grade you deserve.
Very nice teacher. Very feminist if I may warn, but also accepting of alternate views. She allows revisions of project 1 of 2. Also, don't misunderstand her if she seems irritated when the class as a whole does not participate right away. Highly recommend her for an ENGL 101 class.
Amazing teacher. I loved the discussions in class and she was thoroughly clear about what she wanted on the essays. As long as you work hard and actually participate you'll get the grade. There were two projects and two in class essays along with a few in class discussions/writes.
Miguel, is a pretty cool instructor. Thorny as hell though, yea she's a feminist. As long as you hand in your essays on time, and show a bit of interest you should pass with a B atleast... *I'm a lazy student that receives lots of Cs.* That was just to give a ball park figure of difficulty.
She is one of the best teachers at Bellevue, she gives you a calender for the whole course, easy to get an A if you go to class, RECOMMENDED X 10.
She's real nice but doesn't take any crap from students, which is nice. Pretty easy if you just read the short assignments. Few assignments and not much homework unless it's working on your projects. Mid-terms and Finals are in-class essays. Listening during discussions and take notes are helpful. I could of tries harder and still got and A
Donna is a great teacher!! She is very helpful..when you need her for questions she is always there! She is funny and takes good work seriously. She likes students who give effort and grades mostly based on effort. ohh and she's really cool!!Take her for eng 101!
Good teacher, bit of a feminist. No wonder why I can sense she is still single. Good lecturing, kept the class fun on average. She is really easy on the eyes. So thats one reason why I wouldn't recommend her, she's one pretty butterfly but she could possibly sting like a bee. Curriculum was very easy to follow with her.
Really cool and an overall fun teacher. Just show up, write the essays, and you'll get an A
She is a very very good teacher. I would recommend her for english. If you do the work and show up to class, you will get an A.
One of the best english teacher's ive had. She's funny, helpful, and her class is pretty easy. I highly recommend taking english 101 with her.
I love donna! I've had her for 2 quarters and enjoyed both classes. She does take this class seriously and doesn't grade lightly since it's a 200 level class. She doesn't grade essays easy, I worked my butt off and I consider myself a pretty good essay writer. She's very sweet, extremely helpful and I think she's really funny. I'd recommend her :)
very easy teacher. You will get an A if you come to class everyday. she is a horrible person. She is **** hates guys and white people. You WILL NOT learn anything. DO not take this class it will not prepare to for English 201. Please dont take this call if you care about learning. If you only care about an A take it. Horrible teacher/person.
If you plan to take ENGL 092, Donna Miguel is the right choice! Easy class, as long as you go to class. three easy essays! I love her class! Highly recommended!
Very good teacher, cares about her students. If you show up every day and do the work and participate you will get an A. I had Donna for 092 and 101, I would recommend her, for English.
Donna Miguel is a really good teacher. I'm in Eng 101 and whatever I'm learning i learned in 092 with Donna. Three essays, a couple of tests and you're good. Study, do the work and you will be just fine.
Donna is a great teacher. She is a firecracker! She doesn't take poo from nobody I admire that, she also is more concerned with quality than quanity. Which is so rare, me say take her class your going to love it.
Yo Donna, is the bomb yo! I use to hate English befor I took her class, not no more I be written fo sho. Take it easy on the fella's Donna we need love too. Love your style though keep it up
I took her class because everyone recommended her, but was surprised to find all the nice comments weren't all true. I haven't learned anything. She is very strict & seems to be on a power trip, gets aggitated pretty easy and treats you like high school students. You will not learn anything from her and you will not get an "A" even if you work hard
Nothing against her as a person. She has pointless lectures i learned nothing about research papers in this class but everthing pointless thing i didnt need to know about diversity.
I liked her class. it was easy and helpful. she reviews each session that what you should know for your assignments and makes assignments very clear.
Her lecture is incomprehensible.
Never take her class!!! So bad!!!!
She constantly goes on about liberal politics and feminism. I can agree witha previous comment that she is friendly to females and "ethnic" people and tends to ignore "the white man". But for an introductory English class... it was okay. Do your work and attend class and you'll be fine.
Great teacher! She's clear about what she expects on her students, like how we can get high grades on our assignments. She seemed hard at first, but actually not that much.
great class and teacher. She can be a bit of a feminist but it makes class interesting. Everything was layed out crystal clear, there was no hidden aspects. Assignments were pretty easy and not that numerous. Textbook was not used often but when it was, it was very helpful. Definalty recommand her.
Donna, a great and a friendly teacher, and i have no words to describe her. She is really helpful and clear, unlike other teachers i have had in BCC so far. I took her class in winter 2011, and i got an A from her class. Do not expect to get an A if you do not attend the class or you do not do your assignments on time. I wish she teaches 201.
You are going to waste your time if you take her class because her lecture is so easy. There is nothing to learn.
Good Teacher overall. She has kind of a high school swag teaching style. Her class is easy and she tries making it intersting. The papers are easy to write because she let's you pick a topics among lived experiences. Im planning on taking her for my 271class. Make sure to come to class everyday and youll earn cool points which will easy your grade.
she is a good teacher. willing to help. she is fun, interesting but is not sweet, she expects the best from her students.
She was the best Engl. teacher I have ever had She really took the time to get to know her students and was always willing to help her students with any English work assigned. She is very smart and funny as well. Her class is well balanced and as long ask you ask lots of questions and participate in class your going to have a good time in her class
A great young teacher who really can connect with her students. The assignments were great and actually had the purpose to teach us something rather than busy work for a grade. I really learned a lot. She is worth taking.
Donna is good professor. She knows her schedule well and she sticks to it which is really good. One aspect i dislike this class is donna is really a super tough grader maybe it is a 200 level english class or whatever. Except for the grading part(which i think is the most important part of the class, danna is great. she is friendly and helpful!!
man, i really worked my butt off in order to get a decent grade. But she seemed like she did not appreciate my hard work. She is so tough on grading.
Yes, I agree Donna is tough on grading but she also gives you extra credit and easy quiz and easy points for just simply attending the class. So if you consider all these factors, she is not hard grader for your final grade. Donna, so far, is my favorite teacher in BC. She is pretty straightforward, so if you have question, go talk to her.
Great professor, this is very good instructor. she is so sweet, very helpful students. you will not regret when take her class. believe me!! love love love love her
Tried to revamp the class this quarter. One subject whole quarter with three different papers. Little longer of papers, but the topic was on education. Learned a lot, she was very open to suggestions and new ideas. Papers: Narrative, literature review w/ annotated bib, final research paper w/annotated bib
The first class is kind of boring, so I noticed that some peers dropped it. But Donna is actually a great instructor. Her material for class is always organized on CONVAS and I like it very much. It's very clear to get what to do and when to deliver. There're two projects and some tests online in limited time. I learned a lot from this class.
Donna Miguel is an AMAZING instructor who delves into the intersectionality of race and gender when discussing feminism in her English course. She's tough, but fair.
Really helpful class if you need to take english 101 later. Amazing teacher and I would definitely recommend taking her class! She's always willing to help whenever you need it. Although, make sure you pay attention, because she is a hard grader. That being said when she's teaching about essays, LISTEN!!
there will be tests in her class grades her papers easily lot of hw but was easy gives you extra credit on HW if you write more then the required class was pretty fun participation is a must overall had a great time in her class just wish she was a bit more lenient on students. 3 essays total of 2-3 pages and a reflection essay 1-2 pages 4 essays
Donna is an amazing teacher and one of the best I've had at Bellevue college. She is super easy to listen to, and her class breezes by so quickly. She makes you work for your grade but in the end it really helps. You must participate in her class to receive a good grade. She has some group work, but no textbook which is a plus.
It's a writing class, so if you're bad at writing it's tough. If you're good at writing, don't get over confident. Talk to her, she'll help you if you're struggling or clear things up if your cockiness caused errors.
To summarize Donna in a word, it would be easy. Her class is divided up mainly in 3 papers of varying lengths. All seem difficult but she is such an easy grader. Easily aced all 3 papers. She's a good teacher, but I missed a ton of class so I passed due previous writing skills. Class is easy and papers aren't too bad. Good teacher.
She is a good teacher but though grader.
Really enjoyed taking her class, the best part is there is no text book. The essays are easy as long as your thoughtful. She really care about her students, she's the only teacher i keep in touch with even though I no longer need to take English classes.
Donna is great! She assigns a few essays but they aren't long or hard to write. She gives you really good feedback and even does a check-in in the middle of the semester. She meets with you individually and gives you feedback on how to improve your grade. Just show up and do the work, you'll get at least a B.
Great teacher! Gives lengthy assignments which could be relevant in the future. Doesn't give many assignments. Lets you choose the topic of assignments to a degree. Very laid back. Overall a great experience!
Struggling with structure in your writing? This professor will give you more than enough opportunities to get the concepts of readings you do in class and develop writing skills that will help you greatly in the future.
She was my first professor and I am really glad I got to be in her class. She teaches great and always answers questions. She is really clear about what she wants in her papers. We had about 2 major papers, 3 in-class writings (worth about 50 pts each) but we were allowed to revise them for higher points. Overall a great teacher. Take her!
She is really hard grader. If you are good at writing, you can take her class, but if you are not good at writing, then you
This is for writing class. If you are good at writing, you can take her class. If not, she is hard grader, so if you are not good at writing, you may fail her class.
If you take her class, you will definitely enjoy during quarter. She is an amazing teacher in Bellevue college, and you will get lots of knowledge from her about writing and reading. She is also willing to help students for writing. There is not lots of assignment as well. There are only two essays to write.
Easy A. 2 essays and a self reflection and then some timed writings with the opportunity to revise for full credit. She is supportive of all students and very clear with the work. Highly recommend
Donna is really helpful when it comes to writing. She always wanted us to improve and was really nice about it. There were 3 timed writes that were based on a reading she gave the night before; able to revise for higher points afterwords. There were 2 big essays, one due around midterms and the other around finals. No tests which was really nice
One of the best teachers hands down. I am taking her English 201 next semester.
english is not my first langauge, but I enjoyed her class and she pushed my limits to write more even I never did academic writing before. She is kind, open to suggestions, and sweetheart. I definitely recommend her.
English is NOT my first language, Donna helped me to overcome my obstacles in writing. I love her and definitely recommend her!
Donna is a beautiful soul. I love just being in the room with her. Inspirational, funny, and an excellent communicator. Teaching is very effective and worthwhile.
I am so happy that I got to improve so much in my writing from this class. Donna is a excellent teacher! Her expectations are very clear with every assignment. She does push you to do your best but not unrealistically. It's not easy but not hard. You can learn a lot from her. Plus her great personality makes class fun to be in. Totally recommended!
I love her, super caring and informative teacher. definitely recommend her.
Donna's fantastic. She knows how to give good feedback on assignments, gives you opportunities to earn back points, is always understanding, and is willing to make time for you if you want to go over essays or responses. I wanted her for 201 as well but her class was filled up before I was even scheduled to register, proving the high demand.
I have severe learning disability and she was so understanding and helpful. She took so much time out of her day to help all students who needed help. I took English 201 the quarter before and failed because the professor was harsh and did not care about his stunned (Jeffery white). Do the work and put some effort in to it and you will get an A.
Taking her hybrid class is an easy A! She helped you go step by step to make a good essay and her feedback is great! Only two projects along with mini homework and extra credits!
Donna is a very great teacher. I needed to take a 101 class for a credit in highschool and I am so glad I chose her. She is very helpful, her class was fun to be in and overall she is an amazing person/teacher. I do not regret taking her class and would have her as a teacher again in a heartbeat. She is an amazing choice and I highly recommend her.
Little to do with writing, more to do with political science. On assignments if you disagreed with her opinion, prepare to lose an entire letter grade, no matter how good the content is. She was completely unprofessional, would bring up personal qualms during class about sexism, injustice, etc.
I'm a white dude and this lady is great. She made me think about issues I hadn't thought about before and she was patient with the class. Yeah, she might go on and on about injustices, but she doesn't have a choice. I came away from this class changed. She made me think.
Shes goes pretty quick with assignments and its quite struggling. Dont take her!!!!
Professor Miguel is a teacher that actually helped me a lot throughout my writing. For the research paper, she builds up assignments that would lead to you writing the paper in the end. It helps a lot because it's like you're doing an outline the whole quarter. Uses group activity but easy A's.
Lectures were pretty solid, although I felt that I had to do research on my own on how to write the research paper. Lots of homework and out of class individual work (research). She has checkpoints of the research paper that are turned in, as well as a portfolio at the end of the quarter as the final.
Donna Miguel was a really nice teacher, her lectures were very interesting and most of the work she gave us gave me plenty of ideas to write my final paper. Everything you learn throughout the quarter will lead up to the research paper. Group work was really useless and some busy work. Overall really easy if you choose a good topic to talk about.
I took her hybrid 201 class. Donna is very good professor but she is a tough grader. She will make you work to get an A in her class. Her grading criteria was pretty clear and she does give good feedback so that you can get the best grade possible on the research paper. There are also a couple easy group assignments. Overall, great professor!
Donna is an amazing teacher. She wants you to succeed, but youve got to put in the work. She can be a tough grader, but its only because she wants you to improve and gives really great feedback you can use in future assignments. Definitely one of the best English teachers out there.
Donna was a great professor; she's always available for help and will look over your reports for feedback if you ask (definitely do). There are weekly discussions, but the majority of the content/grade consists of reports due every few weeks. Follow the provided examples and you'll do well.
Donna Miguel is a very helpful instructor. She always has a time for students one-on-one or online to discuss the project before submitting. She provides a textbook, so you don't need to buy it. She provides examples of project which are very useful. Overall, she is a great instructor!
This class requires a 95% for an A. I was surprised when I learned this as I've never seen this requirement for any of my other English classes. Besides that, Donna was great. She was willingly to read drafts and give great feedback. For assignments, just follow the examples and you should be fine. All the assignments relate so read her comments.
Avoid this teacher at all costs. She replies your problems via email after the homework due. She gives you books to read and give out vogue instructions, it basically mean you have to learn by yourself.
So easy for an English course - one paper on a ted talk, one on a topic of your choice. She's always available to help and very kind. Coursework was super manageable and she is well organized.
Her workload was very well distributed throughout the quarter, and there's only 2 essays to write. One is a critical analysis on a Ted Talk while the other is argumentative on a topic that you choose. She gives great feedback, and she never graded us over something she didn't explicitly state. She actually gave quite a bit of extra credit too.
Ms. Miguel definitely wants her students to succeed and does everything she can to help her students. She is easy to talk to and will answer all your questions. She is a pretty tough grader but her feedback Is useful and as mentioned before she does a lot to help you. I think she is a very balanced teacher and her class had a great structure.
At first, I am scared about the English course since I am not good at English. However, professor helps me several times and always ready to read my assignments. She also gives numerous feedbacks for me to enhance my knowledge and writing skills. I will take her class again if I have a chance.
Horrible Professor!!!!! I would ask for extra help and she would get all mad and say she is too busy. What? You are the teacher Donna, your job is to help your students. The worst professor I have ever had. She makes everything so complicated and her lectures so confusing because she won't get to the point! DO NOT TAKE DONNA! SHE IS HORRIBLE!!
Professor Miguel was incredibly helpful while I was writing my papers for ENGL&235 Technical Writing. Every assignment is well-structured and she provides multitudes of online resources to help. Office hours every week made clarifying any questions easy and I felt well-supported throughout the entire class.
For English 201 I took a hybrid class but it may as well been an online course. It felt like going to her class was a waste of time because all of the things I really needed was online. Also she treated the students like high schoolers making little remarks that were unnecessary. She also would get annoyed if students didn't answer her questions.
A starts from 95%. Strict about citations, sources and deadlines. Lots of reading. Gives great feedback and returns assignments quickly. Isn't a very tough grader as long as you follow the rubric. Class is well-structured. A lot of extra credit.
Donna wasn't a difficult teacher for Eng101, but for Eng 235 she was more strict and you had to learn a lot of new skills. Overall, I would recommend taking her since she really gives good feedback so you can further develop with your writing. She does grade harshly but simple extra credit tasks you can do to improve your grade.
Her course on Canvas was organized clearly. In this course, we had two essays to complete and the pacing of when assignments were due was fair. There was no midterm or final. I was nervous while asking her questions during her office hours, but she gave good feedback. If you take her class, don't pass up the opportunity to do extra credit.
Bad feedback, and yaps for no reason
Her lectures don't help at all. They're just repeating everything she posts in the modules, which is A LOT of reading. She does not give great feedback. Her feedback consists of condescending questions rather than professional feedback. She's the type of professor who makes you feel stupid instead of encouraging you.
Professor Miguel is great! Very clear directions and ALOT of places to get information. A little bit nitpicky on grading but not unreasonable. Basically one big assignment broken into pieces. Not overly time-consuming. A lot of unnecessary recorded lectures. Meeting with her one-on-one is helpful to go over assignments. EC available.
LOTS of work. Tough and unclear grader, the advice she gives isn't real feedback, it's more she just didn't like the way you worded something. Assigns so many textbook readings and useless lectures that tend to repeat what it already says in the module.
During my class I only had to write 2 essays so the couse load wasn't that much. I did find it a little troubling to navigate through her Canvas module as it's so crowded with unnecessary readings or just reminders that couldv been placed in the assignment tab. The teacher herself is extremely kind and replies to emails quickly with great feedback.
Only 2 major assignments, and she even breaks them up into smaller pieces and let us do them step by step, which is so perfect for someone neurodivergent like me. Easy grader, and plenty of extra credit opportunities. Definitely would take her again for Eng 235.
Professor Miguel has a clear system, but requires active engagement. The workload is manageable with the right approach - reading the materials, attending office hours, and utilizing resources like unstuck study for study prep. Overall, a solid class if you put in the effort.
This was a great English class, as we had the whole quarter to write only two essays. The essays weren't too long and Professor Miguel's instructions for them were very clear. Very easy class!
She was so easy that you only have to complete 2 major essays throughout the whole quarter. There are small assignments every week, around 2, but they are so easy and don't take long to do. It's a really easy class.
Gives the worst feedback I have ever gotten in my life. It's like she has never rubbed two braincells together and bases her questions off that. The advice isn't constructive, it's genuinely bad and creates formulaic writing. If you value quality instruction and classes like AP Lang or Honors Lit, you will hate her class.
Great feedback, clear requirements, and quick to respond to email and questions. Willing to meet outside of class to go over assignments. Read the instructions and materials, ask questions if needed, don't rush the project, and you will do fine.
