A very colorful character. Intro to Soc with her is a joke - we don't have a book, we never get homework, and she practically gives you the questions on the midterm the class before the test.

she is an awsome professor! even with huge intro classes she'll know who you are and she facilitates great discussion. this is a professor who is much more interested in conceptual understanding then doing busy work.

This woman is awesome!!! Not only does she wahtever we do learn intereseting and relative, but you can tell that she's passionate about what she teaches. Take her anyway possible!! It's a great GPA booster and just a fun class in general.

The class is interesting, good discussion. No hw/papers. Not much memorization.

This teacher is great! her class is nothard but at the same time you talk about interesting topics and get to hear fun stories. Take this class! my only advice is that she knows everyone so if u dont go to class she will know.

shes painfully easy and laid back and an extremely interesting indivdual. caution: she is extremely liberal and tends to preach sometimes to the class and impose her views. shes passionate, but sometimes it gets annoying..

ABSOLUTE #1 BEST CLASS EVER!!!!! It was so FUN, I even thought about failing, just so I could take it again! - but failing is impossible, because shes so EASY!! NO work, NO stress, just pure twice-a-week HBO-grade entertainment from the world's most worldy professor. Shes better than Letterman.

Wonderful professor! The class was not very difficult, but I learned a good amount and was entertained all semester. She knows when you're not in class, but you only really need to go for the midterm and final. I recomend attending all sessions just because it will be the most fun class youll take.

Best teacher I've had so far. She has great stories and is always interesting. She is very passionate about her subject and is a guaranteed A with little to no work. Great finals/midterms, just go to class because she knows everyone after the first few days. Great class.

Easiest A I've ever gotten. Don't expect to learn many specifics (don't have to buy book), but she's good at the overall message. Very approachable, and will help if you don't understand something. Incredibly flexible, easy to get along with, loves her students

Easy class. She doesn't seem as though she wants to teach, but just has the class form groups to go over each chapter. Not that hard! Midterm was a piece of cake. No attendance taken but she knows who is there or not regularly. Good class.

Minnich is amazing- i stayed after class everyday to discuss random stuff with her. she challenged my thinking and pushed me on a lot of levels. she was a great mentor. what you put into this class is what you will get out of it

LOVE this professor. this is my 4th class with her, she is an amazing teacher and has so many great stories. her lectures are always interesting - hard thing to do at 8am! but she is very straightforward about grading and what is expected from you as a student, so you should have no problem grade-wise in this class.

prof is awesome, down to earth, wants you to do well, interesting. if she doesnt give you the flat out answers, she tells you exactly what she wants, and all you have to do is memorize. if you don't do well, its your own fault. going to class seems to be part of that. overall, easy A if you just do what she says

Easiest "A" I have ever gotten. The review for our final consisted of her reading us the answers. Really nice and has some great stories. It was a pleasure to come to her class.

She is a great professor. She is extremely nice and helpful. Her classes are interesting and you learn about sociology from an interesting perspective. She has done so much in her life and we can all learn from her. Great class!

I can only remember one time class lasted the full 75 minutes, which you'll either love or hate. I hated it and felt like the class was a waste of time. The syllabus was unfocused, switching rapidly from defunct sociological theory to the Milgram experiment. An easy A, but it felt like junior high. Not a good class for those who enjoy learning.

one of the best teachers i have ever encountered. many believe she doesnt teach you anything because its not from the book, but ill tell you what..you will learn more from her than any other (textbook) teacher at gw.

Though her class may be very easy, the stories she tells lets you know that she has had an extraordinary life. Between her lecturing, videos and comments from other kids in the class, you really learn a lot more, without opening a textbook. At the end, she sits down to thank her students for being in the class, not many professors ever do that

She makes it so easy to get an A by just talking and listening, I would take any class she taught.

she's really cool and very interested to hear what students say. considering it is a lecture with at least 100 people there's a lot of good discussion.

I loved this class. she taught a very engaging class. she let us discuss as a class topics of interest. we watched a ton of videos. it was one of my most favorite classes because i was never bored. i recommend taking soc with her

minnich is the best.. you almost never have to go to class. i do not suggest buying the books. there is homework from one of the books, but it isnt worth the buy. borrow it from a friend. her tests come directly from class notes (which you could also get from a friend), not the book. shes pretty nice and the work isnt difficult at all. EASY A CLASS

Very easy class, but also very interesting. The tests, which are exceedingly easy, are based entirely from class notes, nothing from the book. Final is not cumulative. Lots of videos and discussion. One paper, but you get to choose any topic you want. Its not necessary to go to class to do well, but you end up going b/c its so interesting.

She is the most interesting person I have ever met. The class flies by with discussion and notes. You have to come to class but you end up wanting to go in fear of missing something interesting. The best class I have taken so far and I got easy A.

One of the best teachers Iv'e ever had. I completely disagree with her politics, but shes is interesting, fun and hey it's a automatic A. Make sure you take or get her powerpoint slides, so make friends with someone who goes to class and has a computer. TAKE THIS CLASS.

I disagree, sociology is a very valid and complex degrree. I think that you are wrong. i am myself is a sociology majer. She is not easy you must take notes everyday as it is a science like biology. Please keep your comments clean because she is a respectful person who derservers the utmost respect.

Amazingly interesting class and professor. Midterm and Final taken directly off the powerpoint slides so be sure to type them up. There was easy but tedious text book questions and one research paper. If you go to class every once in a while and do all the assignments you'll get an A.

Really nice teacher! Its one of those classes where you actually learn something, even though its really easy and she practically tells you the test questions, and the homework is graded not on the answers but on whether or not you turn it in; you watch videos about serial killers and stuff, really fun class and i learned so much!

She is so awesome. It was my easiest class, but I always went. If someone made a movie about her life, people wouldn't believe it. Take her!

Such an amazing professor. She is so knowledgeable about the material due to the fact that she's a retired NYC police officer and correctional facility officer. She tells the best stories that relate to the subject and she's great!! She wants you to do well! Not hard, but helps if you go to class(you wouldnt want to miss them anyway!)

I'm not so sure how much is learning and how much is people listening to themselves talk. We have 22 chapters in the book and we've gone over 6 b/c of people's useless opinions. She would be a great teacher if she cut people off.

Best professor ever! She's not one of those teachers who just gives notes and expects you to copy them...she loves to have her students participate, too. The movies and discussions are awesome. This was the one class I had all semester that I actually enjoyed going to. Workload isn't too hard, either. Take her, hands down.

Class is sooooo easy its ridiculous. She is just as annoying, every class she just instigates arguments between students and calls it a discussion.

Professor Minnich is one of the most interesting professors I've had at GW. The class is so unbelievably easy, all you have to do is show up and take notes. Movies are very interesting and are viewed frequently. Take this class to fulfill easy GCR.

Enforced new attendance policy for Thursday classes. Very easy class, but make sure to get powerpoint notes for someone. Exams deceptively difficult, but graded very easy. Great professor, great class. Highly recommended.

Just memorize the notes verbatim and you will do fine on the tests. She's a bit crazy but shes funny and nice.

Love her! So interesting. She's had quite the life (NYPD officer, interviewed Charles Manson, etc.) Class is 90 people, but very intimate and a lot of discussion. Tests re purely notes, and you can do well easily (got a 72 on the midterm, better on the final, and got an A). Take her for SOC001 for sure.

Class isn't difficult, resembles the difficulty of a high school honors course. Exams are fill in the blank and sometimes classes have movies on social studies and sympathizing with Charles Manson; needless to say, very liberal professor who will attack conservatives and point them out to be close minded individuals.

She is amazing! The tests are so easy, she basically gives you all of the answers for one of the exams, she has a crazzzy life story that will leave you absolutely fascinated..just, take this class. She's a teacher you will surely remember and a class you will surely love.

Correction: she literally gave us all the answers for one of the tests. The class is basically a stand up comedy act about sociology. If you want to have fun, take it.

By far the best professor I have ever had. Makes class absolutely interesting and makes you feel bad for ever having to even miss it. It will be your favorite class at GW by far. I wish this class was several hours longer. Incredibly easy as well. Everything is provided and listening to her stories are a blast. Take this class for sure.

BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. She is hysterical and class is like a giant comedy show. Easy A, and lots of fun. I was actually sad when I had to miss a lecture. Hardly any assignments, midterms are simple, and she gives you the answers to the final (which is on the last day of class, not during finals week). SO NICE and SO EASY. Take this class!

LOVED IT! Minnich has had an incredible life and I loved nothing more than listening to her talk. Learned more in this class than in any other class, even though it was so easy. If you take any class at GW, make it this one.

This class was so easy, and it was actually interesting (shocker!). She literally told us every single thing that was on the final exam, which only like 20 questions and mostly fill in the blank. Definitely take this class.

The textbook wasn't used much, except very few questions on exams, although the final was all but handed to us in our last review class. I left the class having poledanced on the Metro in front of businessmen - yes, the class gets that hot, if you make it so. If we lived in a perfect world, every class would be like this one. Not only is it interesting, it's also EASY! Minnich tells stories of her personal involvement in the field and shows a serial killer series that is phenomenal. There is extra credit, some of which is actually very fun.. and four exams which are simple fill in the blanks. TAKE HE

Absolutely brilliant. She's a retired NYC cop and used to work in a maximum security prison - great stories. She got group discussions going in a 150 person lecture. She shows fascinating movies too. Possibly the first class I ever looked forward to going to every day. TAKE HER FOR INTRO TO SOC.

I took her violence in the family class this past spring 2011 and she is the most AMAZING teacher I have ever had at GW. I wish she could be an advisor! She is so interesting and tells the best stories and she legit GIVES you the answers if you go to class. I am even staying this summer at GW to take a class with her. I SINCERELY recommend MINNICH!

Best Professor I've had at GW, without a doubt! Best stories, movies, and hold great in class discussions. Not a hard class at all! Easy questions straight from the book due every thursday, a easy midterm, and super easy final that she practically hands over answers to you for. It was an internship class that met once a week for a few hours(at least that's what it said on my schedule). Seriously, this was the easiest class ever. We met for about 4 classes..she would cancel class like every other week. She is a great professor. If you have the chance to take her class, don't let it pass you by.

Dr. Minnich is HILARIOUS. She is loud, interesting, and she definitely will keep your attention throughout the class. She tells a lot of personal experiences, makes class fun. 3 assignments, easy too. Final exam is on blackboard. Exams are from power points. Attendance is mandatory but I never missed a class, I didn't want to. TAKE HER AND ENJOY!
