this is the easiest teacher ive ever seen. i didnt buy the book, didnt attend class, and still have an A.
A real good teacher, explaines stuff clearly, but her test are very hard.
Not that great a teacher, hard class anyway. Pretty helpful though.
good teacher. but its a really hard class
the class is hard, but she's willing to help. be ready for lots of hw problems. she's the best of the physics teachers at AASU
Knows her stuff about astronomy. This class was easy and fun.
Dr. Mullenax was really great. She enthusastic and helpful. A sure thing!
The creator of "Mullenax Physics," Dr. Mullenax destroys the lives of those who take her class. When a group of students cut class for a week for Key West to avoid her EXAM, it makes a definite statement.
As long as you go to class and take notes you'll do good. I only opened the book to do homework. The 1010 is easy 1020 a little more difficult. She's big on extra credit though.
HARD. Her homework and tests are not testing you on your knowledge of physics, but on your math skills, so even if you know the stuff, if you dont know some weird math theorem, you fail.
Very tough class...tests hard! Prof. Mullenax is a terrific instructor. Class was lots of fun.
great class
Hard, but fair. Study and do well. She helps you to understand where others will just lecture. Great teacher, but is a Clemson fan! Go Game****!!
Very enthusiastic. Hard but fair. Really enjoyed this class. She knows her stuff.
DO NOT TAKE MULLENAX unless you are have to! She is a horrible professor who can't even do calculus.
She is a great teacher because she requires her students to apply what they are learning rather than just regurgitate facts! She demonstrates what teaching is all about.
All test are based on the notes that she gives in class so show up everyday. And take excellent notes other wise you will fail test, seat on the first and second row. she gives extra credit if you go to games and plays so keep your programs and go to as many as possible.
Good teacher. A very interesting class.
Hard, but she did the best she could. Her lab final exam is impossible hard. Other than that, she is good.
Don't listen to the person that says dont take her. Although her lectures aren't too helpful when it comes to understanding the material, shes EXTREMELY helpful. She loves her work (or seems to) and won't bore you to death.
She gives extra credit but also gives homework. The material is interesting and she knows what she's talking about. The tests aren't hard if you take good notes. Not an easy A but an A or B is not hard to get. Easy going personality.
Very good teacher -- pretty easy A!
A really good teacher. Her test come straight from her lectures, so you have to go to every lecture she has so you don’t miss out on note. However, it was an easy and interesting class.
Sweet class! It was very informative but she kept it basic for us non-science majors. Dont bother buying the book. Just get the study guide and take good notes. Awesome fun teacher-class is never boring! TEsts are stright from her mouth and unless you are retarded, you should pull an A or B.
I love her class. You dont need the book, but even though she says class attendance is not neccessary you must come!! Otherwise you will not have the notes for class and you will fail. She gives lecture outlines online that are worth printing out before class. study your notes and you will be fine.
dr mullenax was adorable--she really loves astronomy and cares about her students. the notes were pretty straight forward and it is easy to get an a in this class--no book needed :)
Great class! She really loves the subject and sharing about it. Easy homework assignments and essay paper. Tests can be a little tricky, but if you go to class and use the outline she gives, you'll do good. Sometimes has star-watching parties. Gives extra credit too.
cool as****...
I think Ms. M is wonderful. She is a very caring teacher who loves the subject she teaches. I hope she offers Astro 1020 sometime soon. I highly recommend this class to anyone.

Miss Mullenax is a good choice for a lab eacher. The other choices for lab teachers suck.
Great Teacher, tests are straight from notes!
Great and easy professor, makes astronomy really interesting
Prepare yourself for tons of note taking! Tests come straight from the notes so you don't need either book. Lots of questions on the tests- fill in the blank, T/F, and essay...so study, study, study! Professor loves the topic and is interesting.
Two thumbs way up!!
Really nice and really easy.
Disappointed, bc I learned about 90% of material in midl school. Sme of her teachings are nt based on any rational science, and if if you debate her on this, she will make up bullsht to discredit. I dont mind an easy A, but I fear that I may have to deal with some of my less gifted classmates that actually believed her biased views in the future.
One of my favorite people at Armstrong. Took her for 1111 I and Lab, then lab for Phys 1112. She wasn't teaching lecture at that time for 1112. She's since written recommendation letters for me, and has always been fair to me. Good teacher, and even better person...but you better be ready to study...
She make Physics very interestring, but her tests are extremely unfair. ie- I did 90% of the work on a test probelm and had 24/25 points taken away, where a classmate next to me did less work and only had 9 points off....how does that work. Not a Physics for Dummies Professor!
I thought that she was very helpful and took time to explain different topics that needed to be explained more and was willing to go the extra mile for you. I liked her teaching style, and I thought that she was very helpful.
Ms. Mullenax is an awesome professor for astronomy, if you know nothing about astronomy, this class really is enlightening. Attendance is not mandatory, but the tests are 100% lecture-based. I will definitely be taking more classes with her.
Worst teacher I have ever had. She grades unfairly and hates the female race. She is not willing to help students and forms prejudgemental opinions of them. I earned in A in lab from another Professor and a D in her class after devoting my life to it and studying nothing but physics. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY!
Prof. Mullenax is great. She is really passionate about astronomy. She makes a huge effort to actually teach the material and not just present it. If you need help just ask. Offers lot of extra credit and you do not even need the book. I highly recommend her.
She is an extremely energentic teacher. She loves astronomy and wants to make astronomist out of her students. If you have a question she will answer them, she is very helpful. I would take her again.
Prof. Mullenax is a good teacher but can be a bit all over the place at times! her tests suck but the assignments are fun and helpful. definately good teacher overall
Mullenax is super easy as long as you pay attention and but a little effort into studying before class. She jumps around and class turns into 80% show & tell all over the internet but she tells you exactly what will be on the test. Not a difficult A!
Excellent prof. I dont see why people dont like her. Her tests are straight from notes. Don't buy the book, it's all online in a online book which you have to buy. Attendance is helpful to do well in the class. She made a difficult subject interesting. I would take her again if I could.
Amazing prof. I already had a fervent interest in Astronomy, but the passion she showed for the subject just got me even more excited! I'll definitely be taking more of her Astronomy classes in the future.
Ms. Mullenax does not like the non-engineering physics classes. We are basically morons, and beneath her teaching level. Her grading is random and never the same for two assignments. I am a math minor/chem major with straight A's and worked my tail off for a B in this class. Frustrating!
Very awesome Professor!! Tests aren't bad as long as you take detailed notes then study them. Small project but kind of difficult. Other then that, she has a heart for Astronomy and now I do too!!
Mullenax was amazing! She does tend to be scattered but she always clarifies, and writes on the board what will be on each test specifically. She leaves room in her lecture plan for students to go back and ask questions and discuss, and if the time isn't needed we get out early. I'll be taking 1020 for sure.
Mullenax was a great professor. She was very passionate about astronomy and teaching. If you show up to class, take notes and study you will get an A. She wrote down important testable facts on the board which was helpful. Highly recommended.
Don't buy the textbook!!! She even tells you that the first day. Exam material comes ONLY from lectures, so come to class & take notes! She outlines on the board exactly what will be on exam. Very interesting class, good explanations, and she is VERY enthusiastic about Astronomy! Definitely an easy A!!!
does not go over any of the homework, completely clueless all semester, awful
get the txtbk-she WILL test you on things that are not particularly clear in lecture! And her lectures aren't clear to begin with! I love her passion for what she's teaching but she's a bit "scatter brained" and all her students end up doing 4 notes is drawing a bunch of pictures!? I study 4 evry test but make all 70s & I'm a straight A student!!!!
I was interested in taking the class but hesitant since it was an early class. She kept it interesting. She engages with students and as long as you attend class you will be able to understand the info. She is passionate about what she does. She is fun and makes it enjoyable. Because of this class, I am now taking Stellar and Galactic Astronomy!
Avoid this professor at all costs. I have a 4.0 and STILL made 2 C's and eventually had to drop the course. When I asked for help she told me to "figure it out on my own". Absolutely horrible. It is obvious she loves Astronomy but lacks the capacity to dumb it down for those clueless about the subject.
Horrific class. Arbitrary grading. Non-majors should avoid this professor. Prof would be better collecting fares beneath bridges or ringing bells in notre dame
Super nice and funny. Hang in there, even if you don't do great on her first 2 tests you can still pull a B like I did. Three assignments that you can easily score very well on. The last test she goes a little more easy on you and this will also help boost your overall grade. Take her and hang in there, if I can make a B in this class so can you!
if astronomy is not your thing do not take her.. she loves the subject but can not make it simple for those of us who know nothing about it. She said she loves trick questions, I studied hard and still got terrible grades on her tests. if youre a scinece nerd shes the gal for you, if not stay away!
Dr. Mullenax is a nice woman but a poor teacher. Her teaching style is very unorganized and inconsistent, which is frustrating because she doesn't use the book and pulls only from lecture for tests. What she expects us to know is very unclear, especially when you have no interest in astronomy anyway. But if you study hard it's easy to pull a B.
Dr. Mullenax is so passionate about astronomy. She engages with the class by doing involved demonstrations. We did not use a text book so she told everything we needed to know during class. Her projects are tough but she is certainly fair in grading and is willing to work with students. Her class was kind of tough but fun. Plus she offered EC.
Loved her! Great teacher and really helpful.
Makes physics more difficult and complicated than necessary. Her tests are impossible.
Tests were incredibly difficult, more so than any problems gone over in class or in the homework. I missed one class the whole semester, made an A on 3 of the 5 tests, completed all of my homework, and spent hours with the tutor every week and for some reason did not get an A. Would not recommend.
Mullenax is a good physicist and really knows her stuff. However, since Armstrong decided to cut the physics degree one can tell her passion for teaching has changed she does not explain things as thoroughly as she did in the beginning its quiet sad because she was awesome now she is going through the motions and hardly teachers only assigns labs
Take her for astronomy!!! She is very engaging so lectures are actually interesting to sit through. Her tests are easy if you study your notes AND study the links she puts up under d2l. We never used the book once. Great class.
She is the worst. Do not take her. She doesn't explain anything and just expects you to know.
She was cynical and skipped class. When I would contact her about a question her answer was I just needed to study more. If you are stuck taking the class with her go to Seacrest and he'll help you and make use of tutoring and any supplemental instructors. It's the only way I got through. Half of my class failed or dropped out, no exaggeration.
She is passionate about the topic and very interesting to listen to. As long as you attend class, you should do well. She likes getting the class involved and is funny.
She covers a chapter in lecture in about 20-40 minutes, shows the class how to solve one or two of the most difficult problems, and ends class after half of the allotted time. She cancels a lot of classes and is impatient when you can get to see her for help during her limited office hours.
Don't expect help or clarity, She'll send you to the learning center, no help.
Some of the class material is fun to learn, but the tests are really hard. Do the practice problems she posts, don't remember how to do them you have to KNOW how to do similar problems like them. 4 tests, cumulative final - A on the final A in the class. Show her you are putting in the effort, stay with her after class to do practice problems
Professor Mullenax is a great person. However, the class is difficult. There are three tests total and one cumulative final. The tests are pretty tough. Yet, there is a lot of worksheets that she gives which helps to boost your grade a tad. She coves a lot of a lot of chapters in little time. The class just leaves you wondering what you are doing.
This class prepares Educators to teach physics. If math isn't your thing this class is really hard. However, you can go to her through out the day and she will help you figure things out. Its trig-based physics, but you definitely use some algebra. Make sure you read the book and ask for help. Use the tutoring center their great too.
YOUR BEST OPTION. Retook this class with Mullenax. She is much more clear than Jaynes and is fairly straightforward and labs contribute to a better understanding. Her TESTS are difficult if you do not do the D2L practice problems, but MUCH easier if you work through them at least once. The final is apparently from the tests, but we shall see....
I would take her again just because she is the best out of the options that this school has to offer (maybe it will change after Georgia Southern Merge). This class will take most of your study time. So don't take a full load and try to take it with easier classes. This is by far the most difficult class. Try to stay ahead or you'll get left behind
I had heard nightmares about this professor, but was very pleasantly surprised after taking her class. She is tough but a very fair grader, and offers a few easy assignments for extra credit throughout the semester. I failed one of her tests and still walked out with an A. Go to class and pay attention, do the homework, and you should be fine.
1/20/19 rating not accurate to me. I did all things mentioned for class + more, still barely scraped by. Tests with 5-7 questions over multi- chapters and Flip-it may not coincide with what she chooses to talk about in class. Hard to be prepared for class. She does give alot of extra credit, bc avg test scores are usually +- 70.
Absolutely loved Dr. Mullenax. Shes super enthusiastic and funny. She doesnt have attendance, skip all you want! Posts videos online for us! 4 exams and 2 homework assingments (the hw is literally free 100s!)
I took Professor Mullenax for physics during an 8 week summer semester, which she doesn't even advise doing. Listen, physics is not easy. But if you make a point to get to know her and show her how hard you are trying, she will meet you half way. She is always there to help, so ask for the help. Do all the homework, tests have few questions.
She "writes the test to what she teaches" when in fact she should be teaching based on a test that has already been written. Writing the test just before you give it allows for significant oversight on her part. Take all the notes you want they'll only be useful for 1/3 of the test. Test average is a 70 because she sets you up for failure.
5 chapters or more per exam, based on flipit, lecture and book. It's very hard to study for her exams bc there are usually 6-7 questions mostly math you have to do, no multiple choice. Tons of material covered but only selected on exam but you don't know what to study so you go through everything on your time.
First of all, for our final, she included material that was not taught throughout the course. She takes off points for the dumbest mistakes on labs and tests. We had barely any work to be graded - so it was hard to get an 'A' because you had to get perfect grades on the exams and labs to pass. Very condescending teaching style.
She expects you to know information that she has not gone over. She can be condescending when you ask her a question. Her lectures only go over a few things, and you are responsible for knowing the rest. The only thing that is good is that she gives extra credit occasionaly and she is fair when grading exams.
SHE SUCKS AS A TEACHER. DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH. THE A I GOT WAS FROM TEACHING MYSELF. SHE IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL.
Shes rude, she teaches another way opposite to the book. Always has an attitude when I email her. She is MEAN. The A I got came from myself and my friends being able to help each other. She takes points for the dumbest reasons
This class was insanely difficult. She is rude at times and is not accessable outside of class despite what she says in her syllabus. She had no office hours for help and the tutors did not understand her matieral either. You teach yourself everything. Gives little to no partial credit for assignments and exams. Do not recommend this professor.
DONT TAKE HER CLASS! Worst person/teacher ive ever met. Very rude and doesnt help students that struggle. Only got a B from teaching myself and with help from other students. The students had to get together to tutor each other. She is condescending when you ask for help. Shell send you to learning center. No office hours. Exams are impossible.
She will 100% make you work for your grade in both individually and in group work. You need to actually show your work on everything. She, as a professor, is strict, but fair since it was a summer class that was only five weeks. It is a pretty fun class for it being online. IF you need to take this class, I would do this professor online.
I can tell that she is very good at physics by the way she jumps from one topic to another. In my opinion, I didn't find the lecture videos helpful at all and used the book to teach me all semester. Exams are easy though. Group assignments due every week. Easy A to be honest overall.
If you take her with lecture, you are GOLDEN. she's really good at making sure she doesn't overlap due dates. Lab is simple overall. Either a lab report or a discussion due every week yet its very easy. Final is a paper, no exams.
It depends on who you are, but for me this class was easy. She gave you the gist of each topic within physics, showed how to set up equations and where to go from there. Obviously the more work you do outside of class the better your grade. Take Ms. Mullenax and practice problems from the textbook or even from lecture. Id take her again.
Dr. Mullenax is not good at what she does. She prides herself on having an average test score of 70. Where I come from, that means you're significantly lacking as a teacher. She doesn't teach what she ask on exams and I recommend you go elsewhere if you actually want to learn something.
I do not recommend this online class to anyone. It requires way more than 9-12 hours/week recommended. There is NO grace if something is late. Basically, you get a zero regardless of why. Majority of her test questions do not come from her posted lectures, but the questions that do come from her lectures are very tricky and contradict her lecture.
The tests in this course was very off topic based off the lectures. For the lecture (not lab) the only grades were straight quiz grades for each module. You will fail at least 3 of those. She says, if you get more than 2 wrong on each one, you fail the class. She posts 2 lectures or more each module but they aren't help OVERALL, pick someone else.
I didn't think she was horrible, but she could have been better. She contradicts herself often and is a harsh grader. If you have to take her online class, just do your best and stay on top of the discussions and worksheets. use the textbook for tests (open note tests, but very limited time so study as much as possible).
Only graded by one quiz a week, a final and 1 xt credit assignment. Lockdown browser. Its an easier science in my opinion but if there are no make ups for missed assignments, only zeros. In emails about questions: harsh and showed no consideration for students. There were some questions in quizzes that contradicted lectures. But I might take again
The class did not seem well organized to me. Her course material rarely related to the tests that were actually given. Overall, she is a nice person but does not seem to keep to her word when it comes down to grading at the end of the semester. I would not recommend taking the course unless you have plenty of time.
She gave four tests and none of the content taught had anything to do with the actual course. Nice person bad professor.
Personally she is a great teacher but the material itself was very hard and her lectures had a lot of off topic examples and the exams could take your grade down instantly. I wouldn't recommend taking her.
Overall great prof. She is readily available for questions all the time. She tells you what you need to know, she is pretty tough on grading but also really easy to talk to. I highly recommend taking her.
no comment at all. the exams she provided is more harder
Lectures are confusing, and exams are more complicated than you think. Personally would never retake it, but it is up to you.
She really does not require much work, Just quizzes. You will have 4 quizzes every other week which is definitely manageable as they are only about 10-20 questions each.
This class is VERY unorganized. she does not have office hours so if you want to reach her email is the way to go. her actual lectures are all over the place, and good luck having any comprehensive notes. Her finals are NOTHING like her exams.
Dropped me from the class for not having attendance verification done 2 days before its posted due date.
She did not teach hardly anything at all. We'd get lucky to have 3 lecture videos less than 10 minutes each for a unit. The entire class was taught by Hewitt Drew It Youtube videos, and half of the time the tests didn't correlate with what we were taught. A ton of busy work, and a lot of grades so it won't be the end of the world if you fail a quiz
SHOW UP to class because there are pop quizzes and assignments that will drop your grade if your not there to take them. Exams are tough & there is always at least one curve ball question that you have never seen before on the exam, but she gives partial credit for you attempting questions and showing work. Study & Practice or U will FAIL!!
When it comes time to take the quizzes for her online class, there are usually a lot of things she didn't go over. The practice she posts hardly prepare you at all. Honestly, I may drop out her class. I'm spending hours doing the practice and watching the lectures and usually can't pass the quizzes with anything over a 65.
The prof was confusing. I tried as hard as I could but couldn't receive over a 60 on her quizzes. She gave links that didn't work which caused delays on labs resulting in deductions on grades. I can tell she is very smart. Her quizzes are not thoroughly vetted for mistakes which results in student errors. Use the tutors and outside recourses!!!
Mullenax's class is a mixed bag - tricky exams, but manageable weekly quizzes. Attendance is mandatory, but using Unstuck study alongside the textbook can make this physics course quite doable.
Show up to class, and do practice outside of class!! Physics is going to be hard regardless, but Ms Mullenax is better than I expected based on reviews.
