This teacher is very caring and sweet. She will go out of her way to help you but at the same time she is not afraid to fail you. Easy test if you study, she makes class fun with group activities.
Really sweet lady. She is a good fair teacher, but it ultimately depends on you to get a good grade. If you hate mellow people, don't take her class.

Her tests are not too hard nor too easy. She will help u if u don't understand her lecture or your homework. However, she's a little bit weird. On one side, she's very kind and nice. On the other side she's mean. she's a great teacher, though.
I dont think she teaches that well. She would just keep on talking and talking sometimes without any main points.40% of her lecture is helpful thats it!There are 7-10 ppl dropped. She's funny thats true but if u realli wanna learn something i dont recommend
THE WORST TEACHER,DON'T EVER TAKE HER EVENTHOUGH IF SHE IS THE ONLY TEACHER WHO TEACHES MATH!
No good teacher.Easy D or F !
Please think twice before you take this class with this teacher
SWEET LADY IN LIFE,BUT HARD LADY IN TEST!
I noticed 3 posts of ratings 1 1 1 on the SAME day. I wonder if it is the SAME person. My rating: Indeed her tests are hard. Nevertheless, people get 90%+ test in the class. I thought I'd be gettin a D in the class but I'm actually passin. Good teacher.
best math teacher i ever had. she goes back to the basics & explains how (and why!) many math concepts were developed. although in math 15 she seemed to talk too much about irrelevant things or things that were TOO basic.
worst teach ever! she's really nice, but she makes things so much more complicated than it needs to be. She told our class that one time she had only 2 people pass her class!!! Take Mardirosian instead/
Well she is ok, but the way she teaches seems like she expects you to know all maths concepts. not so clear and rushes. so far all i can do is a C
The worst professor I've ever had. It seems that she wants everyone to fail. Makes you wonder what her intentions for becoming a teacher are. Ugh!
Her tests are unfair and almost impossible to pass with a C or better. Her final exam will bring your grade down by a letter. Don't ruin your semester with this class. If you choose to ignore this post, you will pay dearly for it like I did!
she may be good for lower math classes, but she's not good for calculus.
you will regret it if you take this class. i have always been a straight A maths student, but her lack of proper explanation and rushing as well as talking about unnecessary things make the class a bore and a complete failure.

She pretends to be nice, but her tests are diabolical. This person should not be teaching Calculus. In fact, she should not be teaching any level of Math at all. Nothing good can come out of this class. It was a complete waste of my time.
she is unorganized..and on the day of the test, she will cover the next chapter right before the test of a current chapt..:( she takes too long on one chapt and then wen we are behind, she will rush the next chapts. her tests are hard too
She's the best. She counducts the lesson clearly. And I love the way she says:"God bless you!" when there's somebody Atch-chy. She's very generous on grading her students and for sure, she's responsible! I mean, she's my favorite teacher.

Ms. Nordstrom is so nice, she is soooo easy, all you have to do is the homework and most of the times she doesnt even collect it, she prepares you really well for all the tests, and she answers every single question even if it takes all class she's great!
She isnt as bad as ever1 makes her out 2 B. If u dont understand something she will explain it to u. She'll even go out out of her way 2 help u if u go to her during off. hrs. just dont expect her 2 spoon feed u during class- this is COLLEGE!
everybodys right i mean she doesnt have what it takes to teach math 5a she proably good teaching lower division math but math 5a needs more time and explanation but she doesnt care her tests are out of nowhere and complete bs
poor teacher
Dood this has to be the worst teacher i think ive ever taken in math period. I was an a student and I failed her class anyone taking her class BEWARE becuase she has this annoying high pitch voice AHHH, She has hard tests and are completely different from the homework DO NOT i repeat DO NOT TAKE HER
this teacher is a UBER **** she excpects students to follow her exact methods on solving the problem or else its worng.
Do not take her class she’s a weirdo.she’s a terrible teacher I knew the subject yet she tended to mark off points because I did not answer it in her particular way.Oh here’s a quote from our class “out of the 36 of you this semester on six of you will pass oh that’s not discouragement or anything"
Not the best Math 38 teacher @ PCC that's 4 sure! She'll go really fast than expect you to know it on the day of the quiz/test. She says something like: "I won't go over this because I expect u guys to know it." She'll collect the activities but won't give them back to you until weeks later! Bad!
she spends too much time yacking about off topic things. Because of this- she doesnt spend much time on teaching us the actual materical step by step. We end up teaching it to ourselves from the books examples and notes. If i had to teach myself with a book, I wouldnt have taken a damn class for it
i wish she would tell us how to do things step by step with detailed directions on how to do different types of problems on the overhead projecter or board. I dont like that fact that she only covers one section out of 4 sections she gives homework on. I end up teaching the rest to myself with book
She doesn't seem to understand that the class does not know how to do some of the problems so she'll give a test right away anyway. She will spend a long time doing simple problems and breeze through the difficult ones. Literally, more than half the people fail her tests..."but it's our fault".
she hides her inadaquate teaching skills by being super nice..Don't let that fool you! Most students got D's & C's.....BEWARE
i liked her personally, but i understand why everyone else on this page doesn't. well, i liked math so i was ok, but everyone else in the class were struggling. she doesn't explain things well enough. people don't really ask questions, so she assumes everyone understood. there was only 1 A, no B, the rest were C's and D's.
She does not go over things. She puts you in groups and expects students to teach themselves, that her job. Horrible teacher. Do not take her.She absolutely sucks and expects you to remember everything from your past classes she will tell you to read the book and figure it out yourself.
so much work.....
i think she's a great teacher in that she understands the concepts of what she's teaching and she shows that to her students. what she doesn't do is go over how to do everysingle problem. if you just read the section you should have no problem figuring i

She was not good at explaining the concepts at all. She actually told our class that we didn't have to learn one of the concepts for the test, and then put it on the test! Seems like she is out to fail 75% of the class. Beware of taking her class, one of the worst teachers I've ever had.
Mrs. Nordstrom SUCKS!! she is way too hard, gives quizzes everyday, her teaching sucks, she does chapters 3,4,and 5 at the same time, so you never what you're doing in the class, her tests are really HARD!! just don't take her...YOU'LL NEVER TRANSFER IF YOU TAKE HER!! SHE SUCKS!!
Mrs. Nordstrom is a great teacher. she is always helpful and enthusiastic. she makes the class environment fun. tests may be a little hard. she's kinda picky, but that ensures her that you understand the stuff. homework is easy points. she drops low quizzes and curves tests. i don't why people would be negative about her.
SUCKS !!!! she does like 3 chapters at once,so u dont know what she's really talking about..its so boring..her laugh is annoying as well !!..i hated this class so much that i dropped it !!
I personally like mrs. Nordstrom very much, i think she is a very nice teacher and if you go to her in her office hour, you will get a lot of help. she doesn't grade too hard. if you are going the right for the problem, she will give you most of the points you deserve. overall she is a very decent teacher.
i did well on most tests (top bracket sometimes even top score) but I still got C's on some tests. I asked her wtf is going on said if no one is getting A's she must be bad at teaching and she told me that she doesn't care about the students. SCREW THIS TEACHER
A warning for all.Reviews must be carefully read before making a proper judgement on a professor.Mrs Nordstrom is beyond great and her ability to always be animated is great. She knows her stuff and is ALWAYS willing to help her students.People who give her bad reviews are just slackers that dont care to work hard. This teacher will get you there.
People who complain just did not study. This teacher is very helpful and teaches the material well. All you need to do is study,do homework, take notes and ask questions.Highly Recommended!
Mrs Nordstorm was a great professor i've ever seen. Those people that complain about her because they didn't even try to study hard. I'd improve my mathematics skill after attended her class.
SHE SUCKS!!! that's all i have to say about her!!
Nice and personable. Oversimplified instruction and hard test material. you'll get the icing and gumdrops version of calculus in class and the shaft on the exam. You'd better study!
Nice, competent, and energetic, but a bit moody at times. She teaches well, but her no calculator/no extra-credit policy sorta bugged me. She will try to pull fast ones on tests and I don't think she allows make-up work, but overall, she's a good teacher.
Very nice person! She really hopes you to succeed in her class. She is a type of easy-talking and humorous. Just my opinion, the clarity of her lecture is not so good. You gain your skill mostly by doing homework. And her test is not hard but its length makes us difficult to get an A.If you are type of hard-working people, take her and you can get A
She seems really friendly and encouraging at first, but she really is moody. I tried so hard in her class and barely passed. Her quizzes and tests are totally different. Whatever she puts on the quiz will not be on the test
Her teaching is actually quite efficient if you pay attention, however, shes does, very frequently, try to relate math concepts with something that makes absolutely no sense. Her tests are really hard and require a full understanding of the material. She's challenging.
very good teacher. took her for winter intersession. shes really nice and is very helpful. she made me love math again!! i struggled with trig. in high school. after taking her, its one of the easiest subjects for me. she helps u really grasp the concept. no memorizing once u understand the material.
On the first day I was thinking, "What did I get myself into." This math is very different and challenging and overall very interesting and fun. As for Prof Nordstrom, she is always friendly and cheery. You are expected to participate in with others in class and help each other out during class. English comprehension is a must.
She is a good teacher, u can totally understanding her lecture. Once u done ur homework u go credit on that. it helps u a lot. like me, i usually got 80 something for the test, but i turn in all the hw...final i got 286/300 and i got a A from her class!!
do your homework
Teacher's nice enough person, but not so great a teacher. She tries to make the material easier but ends up more confusing, the book was a better teacher and the book sucked.
She is so nice and friendly. Her tests are hard sometimes, but if you study u will be fine. She does her best to help you understand the material!!! Try to go to her office and ask questions.
I dont know why, her acting make me feel like stupid. WE R COLLEGE STUDENTS NOT BABY !!
Great professor! The class itself was hard but her lectures make the material very easy to grasp. Hard test but if you study you will at least get a passing grade and if class didn't do as well she will curve tests! I got a B in her class, but i put in alot of effort. i probably could have got an A but i screw the final(got a C)..
I took her during Fall 2007 as her MATH 402 student. I'm not sure how she lectures in other level of math classes, though I think she is an excellent 402 teacher. Even though you may think the class is useless, after you leave he class, you'll realize that you've gained a lot from that class. I loved her!
I was very scared to take her class since her rating was pretty low here. Despite all of the negative ratings, I think she is a great math teacher at least for 402 students. She is very energetic and will go over any kind of questions that students ask. Recommend for 402 students!I don't know how she is with other levels so I'll keep my mouth shut.
She's nice but she's a pain to ask for help. She treats you like you're a 5 year old when she's helping you and it's annoying so no one really want to ask her for anything. I really wasn't interested in coming to class because of her and I always get this awkwardness when I approach her. I feel like she just looks at me like I'm a little kid.
Prof. Nordstrom is a good teacher. She has tons of energy. As long as you understand what you're doing, the class will be easy. She will cover basically everything that is tested and if you have questions she will go over it so you can understand it. Very helpful. Take her if you're serious about trying in math.
THIS TEACHER IS THE BEST!!!! very cool very sweet will help you with anything you ask!! take her! the best teacher at PCC by far!!!! i wanted to learn from her i enjoyed the class took it this winter and the time went by soo fast! i was in class everyday for 4 hrs and it was great! drops 1 test grade and 1 quiz grade! oh and she has ENERGY!!!!
Great teacher! class is pretty easy...tests and quizzes every week, drops one test score, works with math xl. I highly recommend her.
Take her only if you are very good at math! She expects students to master the material very shortlty after introducing it. Tests are long, difficult, emotinally and physically draining. If you want a challenge and have no life, by all means, take her class. You've been warned. Also, she has favorites, especially the math nerds and male students.
Ms. Nordstrom is a super nice person with a pretty cheery and upbeat attitude. With that said, she is not a very good math teacher. She glosses over concepts, does not teach clear and concise, spends too much time going off on tangents about her kid and limited time on explaining new concepts. If you take her be prepared to teach yourself math.
AMAZING PROF. ALWAYS willing to answer your questions if you just ask! her teaching style pretty much changes & adapts to YOUR needs. understands that each student learns differently. extremely helpful. believes in understanding big picture/entire concept rather than making you memorize/regurgitate equations. def. prepares u 4 higher math classes!!
NORDSTORM RULES. it is true, she often has short 2 minute tangents but if that's really affecting your learning anymore than it is to occasionally daydream than i suggest you don't take math. utilize her office hours, she is extremely helpful and patient but do your homework! math path is hard but she helps make it very possible to succeed
She is amazing! She will try to make you understand everything according to your learning style. She really invests a lot of time into her students understanding but if you like a teacher who just wants you to memorize formulas and use them without knowing why, then don't take her. She prepares you for higher level classes and is very fair!
Bless her heart, Donna is a sweet lady, but mediocre teacher. She should stick to teaching lower division math. You will need someone much more clear and understandable to comprehend these ideas. May be different in a regular class, but she is not MathPath material. Also, talks to her class of adults like they are school children. Very annoying!
Professor Nordstrom is a very caring teacher. I love her and I'm planning on taking her for Math Path 7A&B. She cares about her students so much! If you need help, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS! She's always willing to help you out!
I had Prof. Nordstrom for a sub for just one day and I knew instantly that this was a teacher that cared. Her lectures are clear and concise, and interesting enough to gauge everyone's attention. She's a fast talker and sometimes goes off on tangents but she's very interesting.Def recommend her.
Yes Ms. Nordstrom can go off tangent, however, she is a good teacher and EXTREMELY helpful. She will take time during class AND office hours to guide you step by step through a problem. Her exams are also very long and tedious! But she grades fairly easy as long she can tell that you understand the problem
I highly recommend her if you like being taught like an 8 y.o. She is definitely the teacher for anyone that likes unfocused profs that go back and forth in their lectures and don't teach in a linear manner. Take her if you would rather teach yourself than be taught. Also, if you enjoy condescending remarks masked behind humor, Take Her!I got an A!
She's a great professor! I had her for 7A-B math path and I will continue to take her for calculus. Granted that the content is not necessarily a piece of cake, she does go out of her way to help students succeed. Do your part, study and DO the hw, and you'll be fine. She's always willing to meet outside of class as well as on her off time, so I REALLY recommend her if you're committed to learn and to get a good grade.
If you like to go back in time to where you are in kindergarten, then this is the class for you. Overall, she is good person. However, I believe Math 131 is too high of a level for her. She does not teach it very well. Her class is very boring. It just lecture, lecture, test, and lecture. She does not really care for you. Do not take this class!
I thought she was a very devoted teacher. I was always good at math but she definitively goes beyond just memorizing formulas. She teaches you to actually comprehend it. She's a very reliable teacher who loves to be asked questions.
good class bad teacher
Ms. Nordstrom is an awesome professor. At first I wasn't sure I would get used to her teaching style but once I gave her a chance I really adapted to it. I am not one who is good at math without having to do the work behind it. It was a challenge, but her door is ALWAYS open to you. She grades tests & responds to emails very promptly. Great lady :)
Talks waaaaaaay too much about her son. She also goes off topic every now and then which I personally find distracting as well as annoying so that makes it difficult to learn. She has that "faster is better" attitude which I despise with a passion.
What Can I say..AWESOME!!!! Proffesor Nordstrom is a phenominal teahcer. She is full of life and very resourceful. You gotta be prepared to do the work, but she'll be excellent in preparing you. Highly recomend.
Very high stress class if you're the kind of student that seriously cares about their grade. AP students and A students struggled through this class. She's very nice and helps wherever she can, even during a test, but there's a very specific standard that needs to be followed and you have to follow. You need to adapt to her specific teaching style.
Ms. Nordstrom was an amazing teacher who goes out of her way to help you. When I was having problems in another class, she tutored me through on her free time. I not only got a lot out of her original class, I made a friend who I can count on to help me. And she laughs at my sarcastic remarks. Love Nordstrom!
Nordstrom is a nice lady. She's attentive to her students needs and generous in her office hours if you need math tutoring. She's challenged in her ability to control people and class distractions though, including her own off-topic stories about her son. Test questions are pretty straightforward and homework is directly out of the book.
Ms. Nordstrom is the best maths professor I've had. I was worried about taking her class after reading these ratings, but I'm really glad I did. She's a genuine instructor with a big heart that cares about your education - and wishes you cared about it too. Take her class, pay attention and better yourself, please.
She is really nice. Although I took this class in high school, she stresses definitions and the process on how to do it. Alot of people struggled through this class and I ended up with a C since i didnot do hw.
Great teacher loved her ..will need to complete hw and study for test will replace ur lowest grade w/final in ur favor .. Really recommend her !
She is the sweetest lady ever and will do anything she can to help you pass. Just go to class, pay attention and do your homework. If you're struggling, just communicate with her. She's really helpful and understanding and will make time to help you. I woud definitely take her class again! :)
Nordstrom is by far the best professor I've ever had! Her teaching method is phenomenal and she is the kindest, most generous teacher anyone in my class has ever had! She will help you to the moon and back if you really want to succeed! She makes it very easy but you need to do all the homework & quizzes or you won't pass. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!
Really caring and helpful, she will go out of her way to help students who ask for it. She has lots of office hours and puts a lot of thought into her lessons and how she teaches/communicates with students. There is a lot of homework/homework every day, so don't take her if you are looking for an easy class. But if you want a challenge, go with her
Took her for math this summer. First impression she's a really nice lady. Her class is pretty easy as well. Her lectures aren't even that bad I'm interested in her lectures. Overall she is really nice and caring. Ask for help and she will help you! You can pass this class no problem.
This class was only 1 hour and ten minutes four days a week. She has little time before class and no time after class. Limited office hours to give any tutoring. I needed the help. I had to go to another 450 instructor. She doesn't explain the homework. She does give a lot of homework. I dropped it and retaking it with someone else.
Great teacher loved her. i hope i will find her on the 402.
She gives a TON of online homework. If you don't have at least an hour a night to just work on homework, you won't pass. Seriously. SO. MUCH. HOMEWORK. Tests are several pages long and a lot of students wouldn't even finish. If you ask for help though, she's very clear to understand. She's really nice and makes sure you understand everything.
Prof. Nordstrom is simply AMAZING! I despised math until I met her. She truly wants you to understand so she simplifies lectures and clarifies anything you're having a problem with.
I love professor Nordstrom!!!! She always wears a big smile and comes to the class with a positive attitude. You can tell that she really loves her job. She wants everyone in her class to pass and she will put time and effort to help her student. Absolutely the best professor I have ever had. She made math so much fun! :)
I have a tough time grasping math. However, I am taking her again because I KNOW that she wants each and every student to pass her class. She will take time out to explain problems to you. She will make time to see you if you agree upon a certain time. She's funny and makes math bearable! She will step by step & break it down. She KNOWS math!
Professor Nordstrom is an amazing and very helpful math teacher, also she will go to great lengths to help an individual student, so I do highly recommend her.
Professor Nordstrom is easily my favorite professor. She explains things very well and is more than happy to help students if they don't understand the work. She's also unbelievably nice and polite with a bright and positive attitude about teaching. You can tell right away she cares very much about education and math. I couldn't recommend her more.
If there's anything I've regretted in terms of professors, she's the one. I truly regret taking her. All the pop quizzes she does and the group projects are really nothing short of esoteric. I love geometry but this "professor" ruined it for me. I'm going to waive Math 139 unless I can appeal my grade to take it with another prof and so should you.
she's sweet and all and is a decent teacher. but the way she grades is pure nonsense. Online homework is worth 8% textbook hw is worth 2%. quizzes are worth 8% the project is worth 8%. the tests are worth 50% and the final is worth 24%. and if ur taking her class right after 150 then ur going to have a difficult time trying to learn her way.
Her attitude towards students is very awkward. She is a very sensitive. She will get mad easily if asked too many questions. She gives a lot of homework and pop quizzes every class. I wouldn't take her again personally because she isn't very approachable. She is a tough class.
She is great Prof. She knows how to teach students and which way is the best way. She gives homework that comes from text book. Also, she uses many sources helping students to understand easily. Her lecture is very is to understand. Tests questions comes from homework. She respects her students. Definitely I will take her classes again.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE
Professor Nordstrom is BY FAR one of the BEST teachers I have ever had. I've always had anxiety over math and she is always there to help! The only people who don't pass this class are the people who don't complete their homework and don't take advantage of her office hours. This class is meant to make you think! Do the work and you will get it!
Professor Nordstrom is a caring person, however she does not teach! Everything she teaches is verbally, gives very little examples of the material on board (No Notes). You basically teach yourself by doing the homework. Furthermore, she gets irritated if students do not understand the material. When she gives her verbal examples she goes off topic.
She is very friendly but like previously mentioned she doesn't explain things very well. She gives out a lot of homework but is willing to compromise on late assignments. Overall, you have to teach yourself and be on her good side
Prof. Nordstorm is one of the best professors I've ever had. She's VERY caring. She's willing to help you if you don't understand the material and encourages people to go to her office hours. I would say homework is good amount. I didn't do so well in the beginning of the semester, but she definitely helped me get back on track. Would recommend!
Her class demands a lot of your time on doing homework and studying. In class I found her to be very engaging and very easy to talk to. If you paid attention in class, the material wasn't hard to understand and if you at some point felt lost she was very open to helping you in her office hours. All the homework paid off for her quizzes and tests.
Honestly nordstrom was one of the worst math teachers ive had. She really doesnt know how to properly teach. She skims over examples that give you an idea of what to do but then she will immediately move on to something else without assuring you know the material. I taught myself 100% of the class. She also is very rude to students at times.
I found that this Prof. Nordstrom is great person but also found that she well knowledge in the area of Math.
She never taught most questions on ALL the tests!!! She seems nice but, I even went to her office hour almost everyday and it still does not help me on the tests. She yap and yap. Took her almost 20 minutes teach a SIMPLE BASIC cal questions. I see many good students suffer in her class. Self study, lecture, and officer hour got me a C+ on test.
40 tests, 4 homework assignments, and 1 final. You HAVE to get all A's on all the tests and get 100% on homework or you are not getting the A in her class. I never got a B in any of my math classes. Tests are not based on lecture. You have to teach your self. She only lecture about 5-8 questions in 2.5 hours. Thank god she is not teaching 5B&5C
*4 tests, 4 homework assignments, and 1 final.
She wastes most of the time talking about non lecture stuff and got angry at a student for asking questions. She is teaching things that are suppose to be for 5B and not 5A. She expect you to know everything already. I will never take her class again. Saw a depressed student crying outside of class after final. That student did well in 7B.
Wow I am a math major and so shocked by the way she teaches. 1 to 2 example per chapter( most chapters). Mind as well just study, do HW at home and come to school only to take the tests. Waste of my time. Could have spent that time working instead of in her class.
She is one of the sweetest person. I did struggle in her math path classes because the test questions weren't based on what she lectures in class. She does drop your lowest test score if she sees that you did better on your final and in the end, she does try her best to pass you with a good grade. Really appreciate her for that. HW is not a problem
She expect you to know everything before you come into class. What is the point of it? Why do I even have to come to class? I can just study at home and come to class on the day of the test. Talking about things not related to Calculus. Worst professor ever. Made me hate math. I used to love math. To anyone that sign up for her, pls drop her class
Highly recommend taking her and honestly I suck at math and avoided it as long as possible but Nordstrom made it enjoyable
So muxh homework. 2 times the hw of other professors. Dropped ger class. Shr is knowledgeable but suck at teaching.
LOVED her! best teacher ever! she's super nice an super accessible for office hours and any help you need!
I enjoyed her teaching style and thought she was a fair instructor. I guess there might be a bit much homework but that's ok for me. I feel like she did a great job explaining things and making things make sense. Sometimes calls students out who are making it harder for others (coming to class late and the like) but that doesn't bother me
She's an okay teacher. She could be a bit annoying at times. She is caring though.
All Math classes have a lot of homework. Prof Nordstrom was very patient, kind and encouraging to help you in anyway she can. As long as you do the homework, you'll be fine. She uses Canvas for some homework and the book She entourages all her students to come in during her office hours for study group tutoring. She is willing to help.
She is really friendly and she really helps out a lot of people and wants you to understand shes a wonderful professor
Professor Nordstrom is so sweet and fun. Math is not my greatest strength nor my favorite subject but she is super sweet and very flexible. Lots of homework both online and from textbook. The class is super long but gives breaks. If you do the homework and study, you will pass but she is willing to help you if you make an effort.
Shes an engaging, top-notch professor and she kept the class under control. I am so lucky to have had her as my first math teacher in community college. She taught me how to self-study and be prepared for school. Thanks to her methods, I am now an accomplished student at Cal State.
I took her class during winter. She is an amazing professor. She gives us bunch of homework. Make sure that you have enough time to do homework. Homework weighted 15% of your grade. All tests are really basic. She put most of formula on a test paper. Anyway, she is a really good professor. I highly recommend you take her class!
I took Professor Nordstrom during winter, so the work was rigorous but very rewarding. Shes honestly the best math professor Ive taken so far. Highly recommend.
Shes very funny and nice but her work load is a lot and she doesnt give much help.
One of the best math professors on this campus. She really cares for her students and wants everyone to pass. You just have to be willing to put in effort.
I've taken math 150 and stats with Dr. Nordstrom. They were both fantastic experiences. As long as you are willing to learn, she will go above and beyond to make sure you comprehend the material. She is very passionate and wants all of her students to succeed. I once feared math, and now it is my major. Seriously an AMAZING professor!
Professor Nordstrom is an amazing Math teacher. There is a lot of homework if you don't pace yourself. If you understand the homework, you'll do fine on tests. Her lectures are sometimes a little fast but nonetheless, they're great. She is extremely nice!!!! If you have any questions don't be scared to ask, she is always there to help you succeed.
My experience in this class was very difficult. I felt that she moved on too fast and she expected us to finish the packets on our own. I didn't feel that the support class was put to use, and i felt more stress going into her class. With the fear of falling behind more and more each day.
Nordstrom is the nicest math professor ever! She is really caring and if you are willing to put in the effort, you will learn a lot in her class. Her lectures are great and she always explains things thoroughly. if your confused, ask questions!!!! she will try her best to help you. The class is test heavy but they are easy as long as you do the hw
She is an amazing woman, gives a welcoming vibe, great lister and very help and lots of office hours. But the material is very heavy and the way she presents the information is too much. Its basically new material every day and hard tests that if you fail will lower your grade. Long story short, my class started with 30 and ended with 10. so yeah..
Terrible. Assigns tons of homework and only goes through one or two examples per section. Did not know how to do the homework. Extremely tough grader. Office hours did not help. However, she is very caring and super nice. Goes 2x faster than other classes. Expects you to just read the book and understand how to do every problem.
Prof Nordstrom is such an inspiring professor. She cares deeply about her students, and it shows. She is a great professor with warmth and dynamic enthusiasm- that motivates her students. Her instructional aids were clear and organized on canvas, and her way of highlighting the main ideas helped me retain the major informations. Thank you Professor
This is probably the hardest class I've had to take ( I suck at math too ) but Professor Nordstrom really does everything possible to help. She responds quickly to emails and has office hours everyday. She went out of her way to schedule a conference zoom just to help me, honestly a really good professor.
Calculus is going to be difficult no matter how great your professor is. What helps with the frustration and struggle is having a caring professor who knows how to help you examine a problem from multiple angles in hopes that you might understand one of them. She grades tests based on how well you understand the concept, not on the final answer
Dont attend "lecture" the videos are the only way to "learn" in this class, prerecorded from previous semesters. Doesnt use the provided time to teach, lecture videos are around 25-50 minutes long 2vids/week. Expects us to read the book, watch videos outside of class, do 35 hw problems/week on a subject she isnt teaching in class
She is a very responsible and nice teacher, but her class has too many homework quiz and tests. You need to complete a lot of classwaork on canvas, and a lot of homework on other websites. self-study. You need to learn by yourself based on the video she recorded. She will only talk about some exercises or homework that everyone does not know.
Pros: -caring and willing to help -not so much work to do -nothing off topic on tests and quizzes Cons: -you have to self-teach, since she only teaches a portion of the material -even if you understand the material in the book, you still have to look at other sources -her meetings are pointless -she wont help you understand all of the material
I took this course during the pandemic thru zoom, and it was SUCH a waste of my time. Class is about 2 hours long and you learn nothing from her. You basically have to read the CALCULUS book on your own and come to zoom class for two hours to ask questions. If you have none, youre there for two hours listening to her TRYING to teach. I dropped it.
the worst class I took in pcc. Too much work, you need to complete hw on textbook , hw on other webs and hw she posted. For test you need to write and do oral test. I think she really don't know how to teach, questions on test and hw are hard, but she only teach the basic questions. you need watch videos and study by yourself. I dropped.
I took Math 5A with Professor Nordstrom twice and, while I do think that she is a caring person, I dropped both times. I think that the way she designed her class makes it a lot of extra work for the student, which I understand, but also wasn't realistic for me. I also feel that she genuinely doesn't understand why students struggle in her class.
Prof. Nordstrom is always willing to help students. She spent long hours during her office hours helping me. You'd get the best out of her if you participate in her class. And her recorded lessons were well organized. Easy to understand. Overall I enjoyed my experience with her.
Doing the homework is essential to learning. you can go over the problems with her during her office hours. She takes the time to make sure everyone understands. Participation in class matters.
This class is crazy hard but shes is very extremely helpful and has unlimited office hours let you retake tests. Shes great. Its a sync learning which sucks and test are irl but its better than failing.
Professor Nordstrom is the best professor that I have ever taken at PCC. She is so caring and accessible. There is a lot of homework, but her exams are very similar to the homework and if you struggle, she will always try her best to help you. If you want to do well, go to her office hours and ask questions. I would absolutely take her again.
Fantastic educator. I learned so much in this class. Prof. Nordstrom expects you to work hard, but in turn offers a ton of individual support. When I went to office hours for help, I always found a teacher who was patient, supportive and interested in students not only learning calculus, but also why it is important and beautiful. Highly recommend.
Ms. Dona is a perfect professor for those who want to learn and understand math. Dont expect an easy A, however you put in work, she will help you to acchive it! She is always reply email with a crazy speed, extend home work deadline, extra credit on test, also some test allowed cheat sheet, but really strict on math notation. Believe in yourself !
Shes nice & easy access but prefers u get to class early; TI-84 calc REQUIRED in class; late work is ok no penalty; no ppl in back of class; alot of new material & hw each day; cheat cards avail near end of semester, show step by step show work or else points docked but can fix it up regain points; VERY talkative (I recommend u self study ALOT)
She thinks it's a great idea to make you do the homework before she actually teaches the lesson. And when she started to do the lesson first, she only covers simplistic material and you have to teach yourself the rest. Don't even get me started on the tests... She's a nice person but an okay teacher.
Professor Nordstrom is so nice; this course REQUIRES the TI-84; if you don't have you will struggle. The course was paced well, exams are weighted heavily, and she's willing to go above and beyond in helping you if you are willing to do the same. This course was challenging but not difficult, put in the work and ask questions.
Professor Nordstrom is a good teacher. She's very understanding, passionate, and wants her students to succeed. If you are struggling, she's there for you. The class has a lot of HW for each section which will be fine if you understand the material. I personally struggled because it was a lot of new math concepts compared to your typical math class
Professor Nordstrom is the most caring professor I have had. Very accessible outside of class and is always willing to explain everything. She definitely wants you to learn. Take her!
She moved too slowly for me personally, but if you are not good at math this would be good. Also went off topic a lot and talked about things that vaguely correlate to the subject matter.
Professor is a wonderful person and truly does care for her students. However, her class is not for the weak. Bunch of homework per week and her lectures go by really fast so we don't get a full understanding of the material. Would have to read the textbook at your own time if you want to actually pass the class. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!
Dr. Donna Nordstrom expresses profound enthusiasm for teaching her students. She genuinely cares about all her students. Math005a is a challenging course that requires consistent practice and application. Attend office hours because it provides a necessary advantage for students struggling with fundamentals and specific concepts.
She is charming and caring, and very accessible outside of class. But being a nice person doesn't make her a good teacher. She goes off-topic while teaching, her video lectures are too long for the same reason. She uses Cengage for homework and it doesn't provide explanations for problems you don't understand. Might be for you, but not for me.
She's nice and all, but that doesn't matter. She's a very poor teacher overall and she goes on tangents, trying to explain horrible analogies. If you have the misfortune of taking her, please make sure you are taking her through CAS, where tutors walk around your classroom and explain things she lectures about to you.
Here is exactly what you need to know about Prof. Nordstrom: She's extremely nice and caring but it's difficult to learn from her. Prof. Nordstrom falls into the paradox where the smartest professors are the most difficult to learn from because everything is simple to her and she ends up brushing over crucial basics that many students need.
If you have never taken Calculus before, I don't advise taking this class as your first. She's a sweet teacher but she covers the material as if you already know it. It's not clear or comprehensible enough for a first time learner. Be prepared to have this class take up a lot of your time and I strongly advise to go to her office hours. GOOD LUCK.
From my experience, the only people who did not drop this class and could pass were students who were in AP Calc or had taken Calc before. She is a very nice professor, but you will spend all of your time doing homework and trying to understand her lessons that do not make sense. If this is your first time taking calc, DONT take it with her.
Prof. Nordstrom truly cares about students doing well. If you fail a test you can retake it. Patient and helpful during office hours. Recommend her class if you're willing to put in the effort to learn and do homework. Do not recommend if you plan to coast through with a C: when students are lazy she takes it personally, can be hard to watch.
Prof. Nordstrom was an amazing teacher! Calc is a hard subject but she did a really good job teaching us. She truly cares about her students doing well and is a very kind professor. If you need help, be sure to go to her office hours, they are very helpful.
She's very knowledgeable, but her exams make no sense. She would not complete the notes, and the problems she'd put on the test were never practiced nor explained before. The lectures were not helpful at all. She also makes you know theorems, but does not explain how they're applied in an actual problem. 10/10 would NOT recommend.
Professor Nordstrom cares about her students. I previously took AP Calc before so her course was not that hard. Her lecture videos were really helpful.
She is the worst proffesor that I ever had in my life DON'T TAKE HER she is going to ruin your GPA Prepare to learn yourself
Honestly, this professor was the reason that I struggled so bad. She gave way too much hw and the hw never had any correlation with the tests. She gave us a study guide for the final, but not even a single question from the sg was similar to the ones on the test. I would avoid her and her classes if you care about your grades.
Good professor, this class might be "diffcult" because it might be your first college math class. There's quite amount of work you need to put in this class. If you study hard enough, you can get a A. And be ready to learn on how to learn.
Professor Nordstrom is a caring instructor who wants her students to succeed. The coursework is challenging, but going to office hours and using resources like unstuck study can really help. Overall, a rewarding class if you put in the effort.
Professor Nordstrom is incredible. She smiles all the time. She even puts smiley faces when making announcements. I always feel warm and welcomed when I meet her.
I took this class with STAT065 so we were working on the stats using Python. Professor Nordstrom cared about our grade and made sure we understood all the material so we were learning at the students' pace in the beginning, but we got very behind so towards the end of the semester, everything was fast paced and a bit stressful.
Hwk is difficult and many of her exams are from hwk questions. If the hwk question is SUPER SUPER hard it won't be on the test. U can drop a quiz and retake an exam. There 4 exams & hella quizzes. Nordstrom is an overall nice person. I think if u really care about ur grades and GPA, her class is not bad. I would say jst do ur hwk and ask questions.
Please do not take her for your own sanity!!!!! She doesn't know how to teach in general, and the tests are extremely difficult as the, involving topics we barely cover. The lectures are usually 40 min with 30 of those minutes being about random off topic subjects. Only take her if you have experience with calc; if not, than steer very clear of her
Prof. Nordstrom is a compassionate professor who guides students needing math support. I took her course over the 6-week winter session, there was a LOT of homework and exams every day. Beware she is strict when it comes to grading exams and classwork. I don't recommend her if you're taking calc for the first time, you have to learn on your own!
Very slow lectures which are hard to follow if you are more advanced. Definitely lots of lectures and very little information within the lectures almost all of the test material is in homework. I took the class with Stats 065 using Python within statistics and in my opinion we were too focused on the coding aspect rather than the stats aspect.
Professor doesn't teach, spends half the lecture yapping and gives impossible questions on tests. May God have mercy on her students.
As a professor she's awful. She will go on tangents completely unrelated to math, overcomplicate the simplest concepts and have unreasonable expectations considering her teaching. Lectures feel like are drawn out unnecessarily. While exams are supposed to be hard, considering how little you go into the topics, their unreasonably difficult.
Joined CAS hoping that the professors might be more helpful, but I felt that I learned more in the previous 5A classes I failed.. She is sort of like a ticking time bomb, but for the most irrelevant things. She would ramble about trivial matters, and her lectures did not help prepare for the actual test.
