agree w/ her view or prepare to drop. aside from this annoyance, its fairly easy
easy, but as some1 said b4 she stubbornly sticks to her opinions
Not big on lectures, more of conversations, problem: she sticks to her ideals
this woman has to gusto for teaching.
She's enhancing to the mind.. it's not science. Sometimes strays off the subject but that's what make class interesting.
fun and easy
The best teacher I ever had! Not only is it the most interesting class, it is also a an easy A if you just take notes in the class! She is very sweet and caring! Adefinite must!
easy easy easy...a midterm, a final, a paper, and maybe 2 or 3 assignment.. sounds a lot but pretty easy. she gives you the study guide for the test so just study that.
Knows class is boring so tries hard to be enthusiastic and fun. Encourages critical analysis.
Passionate, intelligent, and interesting. She is open minded and still manages to stick to her opinions. overall a great teacher. Highly reccomend taking her class. I learned a lot.
The sweetest, cutest person I've ever met! Her class isn't exactly easy, she's just easy going. Take it if you want to learn, not for an "easy A". She's fabulous!
Everything that is on the test is discussed in lecture. Easy study guide to prepare for the few tests. No homework. Really cutesy and goofy, but she's really intellectual and knows her stuff. If you don't go to class, it's all in the book.
very monotonous instructer, durring lecture ponders off in to her own world and makes you want to get a rope and hang your self, easy midterms though
Very easy class, the class itself is pretty interesting but she can be a little boring sometimes and says some pretty lame jokes sometimes and laughs the hardest at her own jokes but overall good teacher and excellent class.
she is one weird lady but her class is really easy. 3 tests all short essay form. go to class and study the notes, you'll get A's. its interesting stuff but can be boring. if you need to take philosophy, take it with her
good teacher...exams are fair. attend class and take notes and u will be fine. barely have to crack open the book if u dont want to. 3 exams consisting of fill-ins, short answer, and longer answer essays. thats it. lectures are clear and concise.
Her lectures are clear, willing to help you. Doesn't like off topic questions. Study the study guide and you'll great!
She makes her lectures interesting. She destroys the philosopher stereotype for one she is not old looking on the contrary she is beautiful yet very knowledgeable. She makes philosophy very clear and brings it's purpose to life..take her
really nice professor. to get an A you need to attend class most of the time and take really good notes.
THe best teacher at SMC for Phil...she truly does bring the material to life...I wonder why she is not full time...I hope this stupid school finally give her the position
Ok this has to be one of the greatest and easiest instructors in SMC. Not only are her lectures interesting, she also tells you exactly what is going to be on her exams. If you do not get an A in this class, you should think about dropping out of college.
taking attendence for determine border grades, easy test, 3 tests, not cumulative, test on notes only, extra credits, easy grader, only need to take notes in class and almost guaranteed A if you study on the notes
She is stunning and such a sucker for Paris. Fine professor, has a great laugh and teaches with enthusiasm. I changed my major to philosophy after taking this course. She uses a well written text. She is very intelligent and challenges your thinking. rocking ambiguous tattoos, what do they mean
easy class and fun; just study the notes and youll pass
Easy class, she only give you 3 tests all year and there is no final. The tests are all on the notes if you do not read the book u will still get an A. There is no point of even buyin the book, i got a HIGH A in the class and never even opened the book. She is a lil weird but its ok cuz she is FUN!
best professor ever, very considering, know her stuff..thos shes a little bit weird but she is a very nice people...very understand!take her if u want a A
Overall is good teacher. 3 tests (hand written, not multiple choice), not cumulative. Tells you what will be on the test. Attendance taken spoaradically, about once every two-four weeks.
a little wacky, but she makes topics fun. the readings are short, but you have to ddo them. and if you attend class you can get an A. also, don't come in late or interrupt class - she has a bit of a temper sometimes if disturbed.
GREAT TEACHER!! Very interesting class! She plays music and you sit on a zafu and think or meditate It was very enlighting.
Wonderful teacher with a cute and wacky side. She is truly passionate about what she teaches and makes all her students passionate, as well. She has truly opened my mind and given me new insight into the world. High recommended.
This class is so ridiculously easy. Do not buy the book. I did not like her as much as everyone else. She is really moody...don't EVER keep your cell phone on!
Quesada is a great teacher - very animated and clear. but I didn't do very well on the second exam. if you miss class, you're doomed cause tests cover a lot of lecture material. all in all, she makes things clear and interesting.

Her class was fairly easy; the key was to simply show up. She practically tells you what will be on the test in class... you just have to be able to pick up her not-so-subtle cues. As far as the material went... I enjoyed the way she presented it. She's a total dork, through and through... not that thats a bad thing :p.
Different style of teaching from the other teachers I've taken here at SMC. Seems like she really puts her heart in to teaching Philosophy, which is great!! I love it when she reads the excerpts from the book. She's open minded and willing to listen and explain things to the students. Read the assigned pages.
A young, cute, and quirky philosophy nut. She has really immersed herself into knowing Eastern culture, and the history/philosophy ties with it. Covering all the eastern "religions", we had meditation sessions while listening to traditional music. Enlightening, you will leave with something to think about everyday.
I wasn't very interrested in the class (Asian Philosophy) as I was with Western, but Queseda is still a good teacher and makes the class worth while. It's very easy, just make sure you pay attention in class and read the book, and you'll get an easy A. Also has her students participate in some relaxing meditation sittings.
Very open minded. Open to all discussion and willing to accept all views. Very respectful. To an A is very easy, just follow these steps: 1) Attend all class. Don't come late and leave early. 2) Read all reading assignments(not very many, and go over notes. Guarantee you wil get an easy A. Exams are extremely easy, don't need to study at all
very good teacher, easy grader very nice, knows alot about eastern cultures interesting class i learned a lot and got an A
overall good teacher and seems to have a passion for the material presented in class. take good notes and dont miss lecture and you should do well in the class
I just came out of the final and all i can tell you is this.... TAKE HER!!!!!!!! =)
Her notes are not great, you have to read the book to understand everything. She is a fair teacher though that will help out if needed. Dont miss class because she knows when someone is not there, and in the end it will hurt their grade. Her tests werent that hard.
Piece of cake class. Books are not really necessary if you pay attention in class, but they are helpful. Lots of videos, and no need to take notes. Tests are easy, although class does get boring occasionally. Would recommend taking the class during winter to get the easy A faster, and be bored less.
Teacher is AMAZING. Passionate, articulate, fun, helpful, authoritative but gentle and approachable...her enthusiasm is contagious. She makes learning fun. Every teacher should be so awesome.
Her class is great. Very passionate about her teachings. If you read the assignemnts, take notes, maintain good attendance, and turn off your cell phones before class....easy A. She is pretty hot too.
The easiest prof I've ever had in SMC! She knows her subject and is passionate about it. Her lectures are clear and she keeps emphasizing on key concepts. 3 scantron tests and 2-3 written assignment in 6-week semesters. As long as you write something logical you get full credit for the homework. And yes, she's HOT as a professor.
AMAZING!!! Thats all I have to say!! :^)
if u don't take her class, u r real dumb. she is the best professor in the US. but she's very fussy about attendance. don't come to class late or leave early, it'll hurt your grade badly. sometime she takes attendance at the end of the class and if u r not there, u **** up yourself. her exams are straight forward. if u don't get an A, u r stupid.
Even though i got a B, i could have easily gotten an A...you cant go wrong with this teacher..took her over the winter...she really makes you think...she stimulates class discussion...great great great teacher...you can get an A in this class no problem..even tho i didnt...TESTS ARE EASY...jus read and take notes and u get an A

Professor Quesada is quite an intellect and very well-cultured. I mean, she's a normal white girl from the LA area with the Sanskrit "Ahimsa" (non-violence) tattooed on her wrist. Her lectures are insightful and straight-forward and follow her exams. What makes this class easy is the way she makes the subject interesting. Definitely recommended
I love this teacher! I would take more classes if she taught them. Show up and take notes and you will do well in the class. Just make sure to turn OFF your the cell phones or she deducts points from EVERYONE, not just you. By the end of the class I left wanting more, and thats rare in most teachers I've encountered at SMC.
Well, what more can I say ?! It seems that the whole reviews of her are so TRUE!! She's definitely HOT and she made her class more interesting by teaching it passionately. I won't ever regret taking her class. She's awesome!!!
really easy class. in addition, the teacher is really nice and knowledgable! dun be absent and try to get everything clear in class then you'll be fine. easy class even for international student. easy, easy, and interesting...btw

Amazing class-- you can bring up any philosophical questions you have and they will be discussed and analyzed. She is a very passionate, cheerful professor; I highly reccommend this class....if you are interested in philosophy, this will further fuel your passion.
Not the type of a teacher i thought she would be. This site made her looks WAY too easy.
she is such a good teacher. she puts her heart into class. i took it over summer, and on the 3 test i got B's put i was involved in class and she could tell i was trying hard. i ended up getting an A. she a great person and i hope u take the class. ps shes part of the scholars program so if u rnt in it u can onloy take her in the summer.
I totally agree, based on this site, shes an easy A. That couldn't be furthur from the truth. She is somewhat disorganized and her tests are definitly NOT easy A's.
definitely not easy A. as an international student, i think her class is boring and hard to follow sometimes. i studied hard and i ended up getting a B.
well, i dont know about the people before me , but for Philosophy 22 she is a good teacher... there's like no homework ever... there are 3 multiple choice test...last test counts as final...and as long as you pay attension her tests are f-ing easy ...people finish in 15 min!!! you can get multiple choice right just by easily eliminating 3 answers..
Quirky, cute, intelligent, and passionate about philosophy. Ms. Quesada is by far the best Philosophy teacher I've ever had (I've taken 4 others at SMC). It's fairly easy to get an A in the class, but more importantly, it's extraordinarily easy to actually learn from her. She engages the class in discussions that invoke genuine interest in the s
1 of the most knowledgable & *prettiest* professor you can ever find. Very clear lecture/discussion, will never get bored from listening to her voice. Always have an open mind to students' opinions & questions. I did poorly on my first exam, then showed improvements as semester progress. She gave me an A at the end. Really cares about her students.
fun and engaging teacher! she's interested in what everyone has to say, explains the materials in ways that you can relate to. i loved this class and subject. obviously the person who commented below me is mad because they're the ones that TALKED ALL THE TIME during class and therefore got in trouble. tests are easy, focus on concepts. i got an A
Just get in there, take notes, and relax!
the class was fun, only if ur open to learnin sumthin new.. it can get a lil' boring at times.. d assign. r helpful 2 gettin an A.. the tests- a FEW questions can get a lil' tricky. read d txt..n take good notes n no prob! i got an A! n wud recommend it certainly
Unique, quirky, intense. Class started out a bit slow but steadily grew more interesting. You'll learn a spectrum of things in it. She's really passionate about learning . Her tests aren't hard at all. Wouldn't know how helpful the txtbk is but I did read the assigned chapters and got As on all the tests. be open minded and just enjoy it.
i had her during the summer and she was an excellent teacher. she knew exactly what she was talking about and encouraged students to share their opinions. there was rarely any hw and her tests were straight from the book and her lectures.
was expecting a great class got boring/unmotivating/unclear...notes were all over the board as well as her lectures...no motivation to attend her class...i heard kathrine kathrine is a way better teacher! i WOULDNT recomend this class to anyone who wants a understanding of philos.
its up to u to read on your own. she can get boring , but other than that she is clear. very smart . tests are pretty easy some ?'s can be a tad bit tricky.
Very clear teacher! I got an A in phil 1 - the 2 losers below me couldn't even take the test on ther own- they cheaters - and they got caught haha! If you study, ther's no way to go wrong Prof quesada's very interesting and brings philos down to earth.
I got an A in her class and I dont know if she uses the same tests i can care less. Amen to the recent rater below. Read on ur own take notes ( it's college prof. doesnt have to write every detail on the board so take ur own notes)
Amazing teacher! I've never met anyone who didnt love her! Has a deep love and understanding of philosophy and passes it it her students.. two 1 page homework assignments and 2 tests... very easy, fun and interesting class!!
I took her a year ago. She's so sweet and her voice is so calm. I loved her. Great lecturer. **to YOU cheaters in the class all deserve what you got! STOP thinking you can cheat your way thru college. Stop just copying the scantron.. I'M SO GLAD U GOT CAUGHT U DESERVE IT> you ruined the fairness of the classroom.
you CAN cheat but i didnt i coulda but i studied ; i think i got the A. i liked class in beginning but got very boring towards middle and end. if she wasnt good looking i woulda dropped. id hit it
Incredibly inspiring, impeccable speaker. Very passionate in the subject. Lectures in complement to the text in the form of discussion. If you want to liberate your mind in life, take this class.
worst professor ever. never gives a yes or no answer. doesn't like to respond to students, nor help. ridiculous!
SO EASY. Absolutely boring as hel*. Nothing here was new at all. Doesn't take stand. SUPERFICIAL material. Should teach h.s. not college; certainly treats u like h.s.(babies u all the time). Tries 2 b energetic 'bout "mysteries" of phil. but not everything is a question anymore: mind/body problem=solved by cognitive and neurosciences. No challeng
Professor Quesada is absolutely the best professor I ever had. I took her Asian Philosophy class and got an A!...I already miss the class and I wish that SMC has more professors like her. She is not boring at all, she uses very interesting videos, picks and you will listen music and meditate ;-). She also teaches Yoga and became my good friend.
An absolute disappointment. This was my first philosophy class as a prospective phil major. I wasn't there to know about her personal ideas and interests in eastern thought! But what can I say? I got an A so easy that I'd take her again if I have to.
Even though I got a B from her class it was still very boring.she makes jokes and only she laughs at it.she really needs to be educated.she has no skills to be a professor.gives out tests, talks like "blah blah" then she leaves. P L E A S E DO NOT TAKE HER.so that we can have better proffessors at SMC.
Terrible class but an *easy* A! We covered the major philosophers but there was no discussion of philosophical thought. She wasted most class time showing animal films and preaching about the benefits of Vegetarianism. In fact, some of her test questions were about the nutritional content of various foods! She should be teaching elementary school!!
Her class is easy... seriously. Reading the txtbk helps a lootttt. I only did 2 essays throughout the semester. As long as your grammar is fine, she's gonna be easy on the grading. Her exams are all multiple choice and they are not that hard. Take her class especially if you need it for GE. If you put the right amount of efforts, u'll get an A.
She is honestly one of the best profs i've had!! she's clear and passionate about her subject & makes it sooo interesting!
Great professor! People saying she is a bad teacher are probably just bitter because she takes her time teaching to make sure EVERYONE understands, not just people who wanna speed through, and that she isn't hesitant to deservingly embarrass people that are talking, disrupting, ect. She's articulate, exicited to teach, and also pretty good looking!
Very interesting lectures & cool videos. Great professor - very bright lady, very passionate about the subject. I will miss her Asian phil. class a lot. Class is not an "easy A" because you only have 3 tests total so if you do poorly on one, your grade is at stake. Slackers don't waste her/your time. Will rightfully humiliate disruptive students.
Overall shes a good teacher. However her lectures can get pretty boring, they even made me fall asleep at one point or two. tests are multiple choice and true or false. shes really nice and will kick out the disruptive students.
3 Tests both off of lectures and the reading; 2 assignments and only 1 option for extra credit. Prof is alright but you must keep up with the reading. Beware! Immature and disruptive post high school students will be kicked out of class.
Nice, interesting lectures, easy going. Pretty.
Very easy. Don't need to read the text, just cliffnotes or google before the test. This is what I did and got an average of 95 on all 3 tests. Also, paper is just what you think and not graded critically..she just wants to see that you did it. Overall an easy "A" but I would take another prof if Phil is your major. Also very attractive and young.
EASY AND FUN CLASS!! lots of great films, very little reading, and lectures are interesting. Make sure you are there for the films tho, or the tests will kill you. Great class to chill out in, just don't slack or you'll kick yourself for not getting this easy A. Her only hot spot is respect, keep your mouth shut while she's talking. she's cute.
I wish she would do more than just lecture during the entire class. I found it a bit boring. She is very very sweet. Easy class and don't act like stupid high school kids. She will embarrass you in front of the whole class.
Quesada is the most inspiring prof. I've ever had at SMC. Her Asian phil. class literally changed the way I think. Her classes are big so she has to deal with brats right away but I've never seen her get mad - she's just calm all the time, and wants to keep that energy in the class. I wish she taught more phil. classes! HIGHLY recommended!!
I personally LOVED this class! Whoever sais she likes to embarrass people is wrong - they don't get it. Like the last person said, she has to control a large class, and the good students are THANKFUL! I've been in some classes that are zoos. This class is for those who are serious about the subject. She's wise, passionate, and very clear. Cute too!
Great class because she talks about life and you come out thinking differently. I took her twice - she is more funny and nice during the short semesters like winter/sum. Overall smart lady and GOOD CLASS!
Good class, good sense of humor. I liked her teaching style - not programmed like a computer - she's enthusiastic about her subject and actually takes questions. Cool class overall. Not hard, but you do have to read the book cuz she takes test questions from it.
Wonderful professor. Very energetic & one of my favorites in SMC. Lots of readings from the textbook and make sure you take impt notes in class. One thing though, it seems that there are people that managed to get hold of her past papers and have perfect scores on tests. I earned the A myself though. Those cheaters should be ashamed of themselves.
Great GREAT teacher! I almost switched majors because of her wonderful lectures. If you?re interested in learning the light side of philosophy take her class. Tests are multiple choice, just read the book and take notes and you?ll pass. She?s awesome and very VERY pretty (I thought she was a student when I first saw her haha).
I love this professor, I have learned a lot from this class. Tests are MCQ, usually 40-50 questions each. For those who plans to take her class, you can visit her youtube page to watch some of the class lectures on Taoism. Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/user/profquesada
Her lectures are entertaining! However, she often goes off topic and its difficult to put together and get the whole picture on what she is talking about. No homework. 4 Multiple choice tests, 1 essay grades very easy. Attended a yoga class for extra credit. Just pay attention and take notes.. You'll get an A!
Ms. Quesada is a great professor. Her class material can be a bit uninteresting at times, but she is such a peaceful and enlightened being, its really beautiful. Be sure to attend all classes, take notes, for the tests are difficult and wordy. She is very understanding and helpful, always there for her students. Great professor.
The reason for taking a class is to learn not express opinion. Therefore no one should expect their experience in her class to be better because they are opinionated. If it bothers people that much they should stop complaining about good teachers and start blogging. I know I just inspired the haters club to futher critizise here try to keep it clean.
she is cute but the lecture is kinda boring. I fell asleep for so many times. the test are easy if you read the book, her notes, and pay attention in class. she gives out extra credits, but you can get an A without doing the extra credit
Class is very interesting and pretty easy. TAke notes and read her book, and you will be fine. She gives 20 points extra credit for attending her yoga class. MAke sure to get there on time because she takes 5 points off for every single tardies, which can be pretty painfull at the end.
Too easy. doesn't change the exams. Everyone gets an easy A.
Prof Quesada explains complicated things in a way that is understandable. I love her teaching style and her voice! She speaks with such passion that its obvious she really loves her subject and makes everyone else get interestd in it, too. This was seriously the only class I looked forward to last semester. Loved the meditations too!
Take her! She's real cool and easy but don't take her for granted. Midterm and Final are both online.
Her philos 1 class is only offered once every 3-5 semesters and I am glad I took this class. We watched films and reflected in our journals. No quizzes, no exams, NO FINAL! Her class definitely made me even more interested in philosophy. At times it got very profound. She's a lovely, funny, & wonderful professor!!!! Take her. You won't regret it!
GO TO CLASS. everything is done in bluebook so it is mandatory to attend. Its free points. Easy A. pay attention in class and read the book, exams are online (DO NOT TAKE IT AT SMC TAKE IT AT HOME-smc will kick you off and you lose time) there is EXTRA CREDIT. was a fun class. and again easy A.
EASIEST CLASS IN THE WORLD! Literally show up to every class and collect an A+. Has 3 quiz's that are super open ended. You could BS so easily and get 100%. Must attend EVERY class and BE ON TIME!! If you're late she won't let you in! Class can be boring but you can be on the phone the entire time. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! IT IS A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!
Hands down the only class in my 2 years at SMC that truly helped me in life. I actually stress less now because of this class. If you just want to coast it's prob not for you because it's deep. She doesn't want you to just memorize for tests, she wants you to get something. She's is very passionate and clear. Get to meditate.
She's a nice lady. Very easy A. You can't be late or she won't let you in. A couple of in class tests which are easy if you listened in class. I never really studied and got an A easily. She also gives A LOT of extra credit! Take her if you need it as a prerequisite, I guarantee you'll get an A.
Just have to say that this is the only class I will actually MISS! Prof Quesada is awesome. Seems strict in the beg, but only to weed out the losers. She will go out of her way to help you if you're serious. You have to be there and be on time! Reading is pretty light. Work is easy if you don't miss too much. You get to do yoga & meditate.
I didn't click on Easy A because you have to go to class or you won't get the activity points, meaning you can't just show up now and then and expect an A. However, if you do go, then you can easily get an A if you follow her topics. As for prof Q, she's awesome, very sweet and wise can be funny at times. You will meditate which is cool.
Alright, so this class was jokes. Quesada is a sweet lady and all, but honestly doesnt take much to ace it. I barely listened to lecture, usually was asleep, and a day before a test i read her book and got hundreds on them. However, if you dont ace tests she offers a ton of extra credit, but they all require money; dont be cheap it might save you.
Class is like fresh air compared to the typical academic routine. You still learn, but the topics are all about spirituality, so you get to meditate and talk about life along w yoga philosophy, zen & metaphysics. It's not just abstract theories, she relates it to life. 3 quizzes, not hard if you go to class. Daily project book, so have to go anyway
You can't go wrong by taking this class. The class is pretty much an easy A but you should really follow along in class, and if you do you should be fine. Do the extra credits, and you'll find yourself not stressing about this class one bit. Good luck! :)
This was an easy class. The work isn't difficult as long as you do your part and read. The biggest problem was this lady's terrible attitude. She's very arrogant and conceited. Even though her class was a walk in the park, I would recommend taking a teacher that is actually polite and not condescending.
Must attend each lecture! She will randomly assign a blue book assignment and stamp it in class (If you miss a stamp 10 points is deducted). VERY easy A. Teacher can be sometimes rude, and makes very awkward jokes in class. READ the syllabus before asking a question, because if it's posted there you will just make her angry...
A good class. Subject is interesting and Quesada is good. Its true she doesnt show patience for certain things, but, umm, as long as you read the syllabus and follow directions, youll be fine. She actually helped me a lot, if youre sincere and serious as a student, shes really cool. Love the meditations.
This class is an easy A. Professor Quesada is such a nice and funny person. She requires all her students to have a blue book to do assignments in throughout the semester. She stamps them and at the end of the semester she collects it and grades them. There are 3 quizzes each on a different topic and they are based on the lecture.
Class is extremely easy. 10/10 would recommend again, you again a lot and very easy. Took the summer course, we were always let out at least 30 minutes early. Only had 3 quizzes each 20 minutes. One homework assignment. Just had to do a small project at the end, either go vegetarian or mediate for 4 days and write about it. Do not buy the book.
Class is easy. Take it right now in winter, no homework so far just show up in her class and bring your Blue Book you will be fine. She stamp the book. If you miss one stamp you also have chance to fix it.
This is a fun class esp since u can meditate and watch Alan Watts videos! Being generally fascinated by the topic of spiritual awakening (nirvana, moksha, etc) is going to serve u well for the course. I believe this class is very beneficial even if u r familiar to eastern thought as we learn about things we wouldn't otherwise in an academic setting
This teacher is easy but a pain. We had to buy her CDs and offered us extra credit for proof;a HUGE ethics violation. Her grading criteria is incredibly vague and she comes off as incredibly condescending on her syllabus and her assignments. She often decided to give us assignments randomly for no clear reason. the worst class I've had so far!
Take her in the summer or winter when class is smaller. She's cool & funny, just don't rub her the wrong way. You don't have to buy anything. Some ECs use CDs but you can choose. Be on time & you'll be fine
This class was very refreshing. We watched films and used philosophy at the same time. The films that we watched were unique, inspirational, and just made you think about life in a different perspective. Quesada is really nice and is full of positive vibes. You will be needing a Blue Book so you can answer short easy questions about the films :)
Such an amazing teacher. Took her for the summer course and we watched films the entire time. Short discussions in class and always wrote in our blue books. Blue books are super important in the class but very easy. Will get an A if you show up, do the work, and come on time!!!
This professor is extremely biased against Western religion (i.e. Christianity, Islam, and Judaism). She treats her personal views/beliefs as universally correct. Her class was an easy A though. There was a lot of extra credit.
Professor Quesada is a very sweet, intelligent woman which is especially great when learning philosophy. We watched thought provoking movies and discussed them afterwards. All you need is a bluebook to answer essay style questions throughout the semester. Definitely recommend her.
Prof Quesada is extremely knowledgeable in her field of eastern philosophy. I'm glad to have taken this class with her because her background and personal experience makes class more interesting. She shares personal stories that makes it refreshing and different.
Instructions were usually clear but her exams were not, no study guide would show old videos so you can´t rewatch. Also, she had meditation days where that's all you did (wasted time). Has extra credit but most of them are far places(temples). Buying her CDs and offered us extra credit is not supporting artists. Not organized and incredibly vague.
All you need for this class is a blue book as you do write ups on movies in class. She is extremely nice and lenient. If you pay attention during the movies, participate in her discussions, and do the final and feature project you should be able to pass the class.
still a water class
You just need to buy a blue book, get stamps (every 2 weeks probably), and all the projects are online, so you can do some research before submitting them. She grades easily. Overall. she is an easy A. Very recommended.
You can't miss her class a lot because she stamps your homework and if you're not there you're only allowed to make one up through an additional extra credit. She makes it very unclear at the beginning of class how she wants her exams to be done. She's not a bad teacher but I wouldn't take her again.
Super fun class about eastern philosophy. 3 quizzes total and a final project. lecture almost everyday or you watch a documentary about yogis.
Every time I try to leave an honest, serious review, it gets taken down (suspicious). The workload is fine as long as you're not absent & an attentive notetaker; however, she cancelled class at least 6x & she's very condescending & unhelpful if you're not 1 of her favorites. I definitely wouldn't recommend taking her.
Your experience with her will depend on if youre serious or not. Shell help you if you are. Dont take her if youre not. More lecture than reading. Got to be there for assignments. Quizzes online. She knows her subject.
There is no reading for this class. It's all based on lecture and videos, so if you want to do well, be present and take good notes. 10 stamped blue book assignments, 3 quizzes, and final project. However, professor is biased, condescending towards those she doesn't "favor", and unclear on how to take her exams (you figure it out after the 1st).
As long as you're hardworking and a good notetaker, this class isn't hard (just a lot of busy work). There's also extra credit. I got an A. But whenever something in the lecture confused me and I'd ask for help, Quesada would assume I wasn't paying attention and not answer my questions. Because of her, it was one of the worst classes I've taken.
I enjoyed the content of this class tremendously. Fairly easy A as long as you show up and do the work, which is not difficult. Lots of videos with the sound WAY TOO LOUD, which made videos that would have otherwise been enjoyable painful to experience (literally). The worst part of this class was other students talking and being disruptive.
Loved this class. Loved the material. Quesada knows her subject. Easy A as long as you attend. I found Quesada to be very helpful. Allowed me to retake a test due to an unforeseen situation.
My second class with Quesada. She's great. She's there for you if you're serious. As others have said, she knows her subjects because she also teaches yoga, so you're not just getting book stuff. Good class. And pretty easy if you show up and just follow instructions. oh yeah and you get to meditate too.
Loved this class. Hands down my most interesting class at SMC and Quesada is a wonderful professor. Not just dry lecture. She talks about her own backgrounds in eastern wisdom. You can easily get an A if you show up.
I saw a lot of negatives, so I decided to post. I really enjoyed this class! Prof Q is really passionate about this subject and tries to make the class fun. We did a group meditation and a sound bath. She literally gives extra credit for going to an animal farm/yoga class. That being said, if you don't do the work--you will fail. Do the work!
Easy A. Watch the movies and write a paragraph on them. Midterm and Final are written questions and youre given the questions before you start the test. Extra Credit options. Extremely easy & some good movies too. Shes clearly very passionate about her field and she is very sweet and understanding. Take her if you need Philo 1 credit or love film
Easiest class I've ever taken at SMC. If you are taking hard classes, make sure to take this because it is low stress. We watch movies in class and only have midterm, final, journal entries, and a paper. Easiest class ever! She is the sweetest professor and if you ever need help, she will always be there for you!
Prof Quesada is an outstanding teacher. She puts complex concepts into simple and poetic phrases. She is kind and understanding, and certainly practices the philosophies she teaches. This class is easy to understand because of the way she teaches and it is really engaging material. Definitely take this class, you'll love it!
If you enjoy watching movies, this is the perfect course to take to obtain information as well as have fun watching different films. All the assignments (except for the midterm), are due at the end of the semester which gives you so much flexibility. However, I recommend completing the assignments earlier and not waiting til last minute to be ahead
Prof. Quesada is very nice! Took her during Fall 2020, Zoom meetings are recommended, but optional. Easy class. All the assignments (journals, essay) have to be submitted by the last day of class. So make sure to manage your time, so you don't write 16 journals in a day! Offers extra credit.
LOVED HER!! So sweet & understanding. If you're into hinduism, buddhism, spirituality you'll love this class. Discovered a lot about myself. As long as you put heart into it and show effort, she'll give you credit. Do all work (which is not much and due all at once at end of semester) and you'll be PERFECT. Lots of extra credit. Ended with a 99%.
Professor Quesada is an expert in her field to say the least. Her class is lecture heavy but I am someone who truly has trouble focusing on videos/lectures and I genuinely was engaged throughout the course. She makes it very very interesting. Study the material and do the assignments and your set
There are a total of two assignments, the journal and the feature project. All work is due on the last day of class, which is something I wasn't too fond of. The problem with that was nobody exactly knew if they were doing the journals correctly throughout the class. She ended up grading very generously though. Overall a decent class.
Prof Quesada is an absolute gem. She really cares about her students and wants them to do well, such an enjoyable class and teacher. Her class consists of a weekly journal reading, three quizzes, and a project at the end. I found the quizzes to be difficult to get a good grade on because they were very arbitrary, but do the EC and you'll be fine.
I really loved her Philosophy 22 class, it was a great intro into Eastern philosophy. She posts recorded lectures and a lot of YT videos to watch and answer weekly journal questions on. The tests are fairly easy, just be sure to take notes on the videos. She is a very lenient grader and really passionate about the subject. Take her!
Professor Quesada is really passionate about Eastern philosophy and is absolutely knowledgeable about this. She wants to share her life lessons and wants her students to do well. The quizzes could be obscure but there are a lot of extra credits. Listening to her lecture is a pleasure. As long as you follow up with the work you should get A easily.
I loved this professor, she is so knowledgeable regarding eastern philosophy and her class was amazing, I would highly recommend taking her. Her class was easily the most enjoyable course I've taken this year.
This class was run smoothly by Professor Quesada. We watched movies and worked on journals that were due at the semester's end. The midterm and final focus on the films covered throughout the semester. She has videos on Youtube with her opinion regarding the subject of the film and really was passionate about philosophy. Take her!
I have Professor Quesada right now for Winter, and it is an amazing class. 12 journals about specific topics discussed with a midterm and final. She is so sweet and is there for her students to learn about Philosophy in the best way. She is the best and most kind professor ever, take her if she's offering the course!
She's a really great, sweet, and spiritual professor. Winter had 12 journals (20 points each) and 2 quizzes (50 points each) but 10 questions. It's based on her lectures and specific websites she gives you to learn about each section. It's not that hard if you understand and spend time on it.
Honestly the easiest and best class I have ever taken. the professor is amazing and responds as soon as possible to emails even if it is late. completely self paced class. Not even a lot of hard work. Extremally easy A. Dont save everything to the end because you wont be able to finish but its possible to finish within a few weeks. Take this class!
Great professor while also being a super easy class. Highly recommend.
This class is all self-paced (all 12 journals and 3 exams are due on the last day) so dont leave them at the last minute. She is a lenient grader on the journals and the exams (all multiple choice) are quite straightforward if you watched her lectures. She also gives extra credit but as long as you did the work, you wont even need it.
Amazing teacher, really nice and grades very generously.
She was kinda weird, and took the journal assignments personal. She's an animal rights activist so if you mention monkeys she will probably say that your being offensive. She was a good teacher who assigned good assignments. I would suggest her class to anyone looking for an easy A.
EASSYY, everything is due on the last day of the semester. Easy grader. Watch 5 videos a week and a small response (to show you watched the videos). 4 quizzes (all are easy). She offers extra credit but you won't need it. Just pace yourself, oh, and you also do 3 meditations for this class. Lectures are acc interesting, other than that TAKE IT!!!!
easiest class ever, but you still learn about philosophy. everything is due at the end of the semester so its super chill you just have to pace yourself. she responds quickly and gives great feedback. work is easy, just watch short videos or lectures (and one movie) then respond to 3-5 discussion questions. made my life easy.
Took Asian Philosophy in the Spring. Her class is very easy, with 6 assignments due in like 4 weeks and the other 6 due on the last day. You have plenty of time to finish the work, just don't do it last minute like I did. Overall I still ended up with a good grade!
Professor Quesada makes this class super easy and engaging. Lots of extra credit opportunities, and Unstuck study helped me ace the quizzes. Highly recommend taking this course!
Such an easy class, easy A for sure! There are about 4 assignments due per month and although she does not take late work, you have a month to do them (each assignment can be done in a day). 3 quizzes with about 25 questions and 65 minute limit (just take notes to review). Try not to wait till the last minute for these assignments, however.
She's weird! Whatever I wrote was wrong for her; I already tried my best and was never late for the assignment. I spent two to three hours finishing each assignment every time, but she still said that I didn't understand. I don't know what to do because she never taught me which part I did wrong and never let me know how to improve more.
