Not the best teacher when it comes to math. She knows her stuff, but she does not know how to teach her stuff. However she is VERY nice and easy going, and if you ask her for help she will be glad to give it. She holds an extra help session on Fridays, which basically serve as an extra class period. Suggestions: Go to class, do your homework!
She assigns things that go along with the test, and answers all questions. I loved her!!

Nice woman. Laid back and extremely helpful. Holds help sessions on Fridays if you are struggling. Attendance not mandatory and HW was not graded, but I would recommend showing up and doing the HW to earn a good grade.
I would not recommend this teacher at all. After about three classes half the students stopped showing up, because her classes were not helpful at all. I found her lectures very confusing because she messed up half way through showing most of her examples. You are better off getting outside help and not showing up for class at all.
Voice is monotone. She reads fro m a projector and does very few of the problems. Says she is willing to help, then isnt. Half of the time she doesnt even know what she is doing. Her tests don't match her homeworks. Sweet lady but not very good at math. I believe she told us her interest was english.. well thats what she knows, clearly not math.
horrible teacher.. did not learn one thing. her grading is not fair what so ever, not able to use calculators. do not recommend.
Do not reccomend this teacher, she is not a professor, she labeled herself as a 'instructor'. Homework quizzes often, no calculator allowed on tests at all, no exceptions. Not a very good teacher
Terrible teacher, half the time she doesn't know what she is doing. Homework quizzes every day. Test are hard. She's horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is an okay teacher, she goes way too fast. If you miss one day of class, good luck catching up. She doesn't require attendance, but you really don't want to miss a class. She gives homework quizzes almost every class, not to mention she gives a LOT of homework. I would not recommend this teacher.
She loves to talk about her pets. She spends more time messing up hw questions than actually "teaching" and she works backwards and if I had not already been thru most of the material in highschool I would have failed epically
she typically goes off topic often and will spend the majority of class going over homework. attendance isnt mandatory but she gives daily homework quizzes. the class is useless though. homework isnt graded but if you do your homework you should do fairly on the tests. i wouldnt recommend her.
Homework quizzes are easy if you do the homework and do count towards your 15% of grade. I have a 96 and yes a calculator can't be used but problems are simple enough on the tests that you don't need it. If you don't remember how to multiply and divide decimals, you are so screwed. Go to class, she gives out bonus questions not related to math.
FOR PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT THEIR GRADE. I was surprised to read some of the comments on here about "test are hard" and the like. Prof. Ramsay is a great instructor, super nice and understanding. Tests aren't hard if you do the hw. Don't listen to all the people who made bad grades. She is one my favs thus far. TAKE HER!!!
Those who didn't do well either didn't go get help or just isn't good at math. I loved having her and I made a 95 in the class. People only hate her because she tends to spend too much time on the homework and not enough examples. Instead of doing nothing, those people should've gone to get help from the Math Lab or a fellow student.
I'm so glad I didn't buy the online version of the book because we worked straight from the textbook. Often made simple math errors when trying to go over homework which took most of class. Gave an unreasonable amount of homework every class. I would not recommend this professor.
Loved this class. The tests are super easy compared to the homework problems from the book. If they are hard, you obviously didn't study.
She is a teacher with a lot of patience and someone who will spend time with you after class or before(depending on her schedule of course). If you don't do the work in the textbook, then the test will seem hard because the tests are pretty easy. I hope I get her for another class.
Not a bad teacher. I found her class pretty easy but extremely boring. Nice lady. Takes attendance and does homework quizzes. I dint put that much effort and got an A.
She is very patient, very helpful. Her tests are well graded. She is organized. I would recommend Mrs Ramsey. She is very nice and fair!
I would most definitely recommend her! She has no homework or attendance requirements. I got an A in her class and all I did was come to class, take notes, did the majority of the HW she recommends, paid attention during reviews, and took the tests (obviously). I will definitely take her again. (:
good prof and willing to help. quizzes are from homework problems, homework is not mandatory but it is extremely helpful. lectures are boring and straight from the book.
I don't know why people are complaining, she is an excellent teacher. No, she does not allow calculators on the test but she makes the use of one unnecessary. She is always willing to stay after and help you out if you are lost, her grading style can really help you out in the end. She's a sweet lady and I would definitely take her again.
Excellent teacher! The non use of calculators is actually not even an issue; she makes it easy, you just have to remember the formulas. She is always more than willing to help, stay late, etc. I would take her again in a second.
Let me begin by stating that I am not a "math person". Mrs. Ramsey is more than willing to go the extra mile to help you if you show that you are interested in her class (go to office hours). She is extremely fair and her grading scale allows her to give partial credit on tests and quizzes. I would recommend her to everyone.
Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended. Mrs. Ramsey is excellent at explaining how to work problems, and loves to answer your questions. The hardest part of the class is not being able to use a calculator on tests. However she makes the test problems work out nicely.
Ms. Ramsey is a WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!! The material can get really tough if you take it in the summer...I would advice you to take it during fall or spring semester if math is not your best subject. Her grading scale is very helpful, and she is ALSO very helpful and willing to help you learn the material. I got a B out the class! TAKE HER!!!
I would totally pick her if I could for every of math class I do. She explains clearly, and her class is lively. Only problem, loves pets too much. You'll love math with her.
Ms Ramsey is a great teacher. She assigns a lot of HW, but your better off doing it. It's pre-calc so it's not always easy. She is so helpful and will always got the extra mile. I hate math and she helped me get through. Attend each class if math is not your strong suit. I would take her for every math class If possible.
TAKE HER!! Mrs. Ramsey is an amazing teacher! She knows exactly what she is talking about and is always willing to help you with anything. There is lots of homework assigned out of the textbook, but do it because every problem off her tests come from the homework. If you do the work, you will get a good grade.
she is a very nice lady and is super helpful. if you do the homework in her class you should be totally fine!
She was very nice and helpful while I was in her class, however she does spend way too much time going over her homework that she recommends every night. The recommended homework is also outrageous. She also makes simple mistakes when trying to go over the homework and that's why it takes so long. Her class is an easy A though so choose wisely.
She is a really good teacher. If you do your homework and ask questions on what you don't understand you will do fine. She is VERY helpful and recognizes when someone is there and doing their work :)
She is really helpful and good teacher. I would recommend her for this class. If you do all your homework then you will fine. If you have any questions, she always be there for you.
AWESOME professor. This class is tough, moves really fast. Ms Ramsey's grading system leaves lots of opportunities for partial credit. She is ALWAYS willing to help if you go to her office. Biggest con: no calculators, and though I hated it while I was in her class it helps in Calc I. Be ready to work for your grade.
She is a good teacher when she explains the material, sometimes gets REALLY confusing and you just have to breathe in and then do hmk to fully comprehend what she said in class. Tests are NOT hard but she is detail oriented so if you dont put your answer HER way she will automatically not give a 100 on that question you actually got right on.
She's really sweet, but at some points moves way too slow. She doesn't have an attendance policy. All homework is optional. The class is easy, but I probably wouldn't take her again. She can get easily distracted which can be annoying in a 50 min class.
She was constantly late to our 50 minute class, talked about unrelated stuff randomly, graded differently for each test, and was not clear on how to complete problems. Also the tests were a lot harder than the study guides led you to believe.
I think she is a really sweet professor, she does go off on stories sometimes but it keeps me entertained. She works problems out on the board step by step and gives plenty of HW problems to help you understand the material, but they are not graded. I would deffinately reccomend her! Super sweet professor!
Mrs. Ramsey was a wonderful professor. If you show up for class and listen you should do very well. She works problems out over a projector and talks through each step. She has a unique grading system that is to your benefit. She also has a very entertaining personality.
I would not recommend prof Ramsey! Instead of thoroughly teaching the information it always seems like she is just reviewing over it. If you do not grasp concepts easily in math you will be lost! And when you ask questions she can be pretty. She will also take points off of your test for her own personal reasons, even when your answer is right!
I'm awful at math, but she's so adorable that I didn't dread going to her class. I loooove that she works problems out on the overhead. She also pretty much tells you what you need to know for the test, so as long as you go to class, listen, and do the homework (that you don't turn in), you'll be fine! Definitely recommend.
Ms Ramsey is really good in helping you to understand the material, although we do not use calculators. The tests do not require one. She goes all out to help you by staying late after class and never puts a time frame on it. She is very firm in her grading, so do the homework. She will always go over it the following class period. Take her!!!
Attend class and do the homework. She was more than willing to work with students who were struggling, but few took her up on the offer. Can be very particular on her exams, but she will not be unfair. Put in effort, ask for help if you need it, and you'll be fine. She genuinely wants students to learn! It's a good thing.
Darling little Alabama sweetheart! 4 tests, lowest test score replaced with final. Very easy to determine what will be on the tests, just DO THE HW! However, if you're looking for a class that helps you understand trig beyond solving math problems, this isn't the class. Definitely recommended!
As long as you do the homework, ask questions, and attend class, you'll receive an A. If you're looking for a class that doesn't require a lot of work, save yourself the trouble. I ended up with a B but I was so scared.
Easy class to pass, TOO EASY. But Good luck getting an A. Easy to like, funny and laid back, shes willing to work with people who ask for help [B+]
THE BEST math professor. I have always struggled in math, but I received an A in her class. Genuinely cares about her students and is always willing to help. Make sure to ask questions, and ALWAYS do your homework. You will NOT pass if you don't do the homework.
She loves math, she's good at teaching it; when she isn't distracted by other stuff. She breezed too quickly over chapter and I became lost. She needs to spend more time on each section. Easy at beginning of semester, but became challenging near end. Pretty much felt like I taught myself. Homework every night, but she doesn't check it. Do it though, it's important.
You are not allowed to use a calculator, so dividing and multiplying by hand can be time consuming. Class is straight forward if you know what you are doing. She doesn't really teach well just expects you to already know the material. She suggests an excessive amount of homework. I would take another class if i could.
Wonderful teacher!! Go to class and do the homework and you will do well. She goes through the chapters pretty fast but is more than willing to help if you don't understand. She breaks things down and likes to through out random jokes during class. Definitely the nicest teacher at KSU.
Poor teacher that grades poorly. You can get the correct answer and have all correct work, but if it isn't the exact way she likes it then you can expect to lose a ridiculous amount of points. She doesn't understand that there is more than one way to solve a problem. Also if you want to throughly learn the material, do NOT take her. But she's nice.
Although Dr. Ramsey is really nice and funny, she gets distracted very easily. She teaches a section of the chapters each day. She is a good teacher but needs to stay on topic if she's going to teach a section a day. There were times I had to teach myself because she got distracted and didn't finish the section. Overall an easy class (basic math)
Good class if you show up every time and take notes. Always do the homework! Even if you don't think it will help, it really makes a difference on her tests and quizzes. She's also very kind, easy to understand, and more than willing to help her students succeed. 5 tests and quizzes in-between.
She was very nice and funny, but could not focus on the information in the chapters. She teaches a chapter every class so the course material goes by quickly, but I did end up teaching myself through most of it. HOMEWORK IS IMPORTANT!! If you don't have time to do homework, and do it well, do not take this class.
She could not focus or explain any of the material. I learned everything from the LA's. They are the reason I passed the class.
Had hardly any problems with this teacher. Her notes and explanations were clear and concise. Very clear and understandable. Can't stress that enough. Tests were easy. Most of the problems on the tests are straight from the notes. Homework is optional. Take her class for a passing grade. One of the best math teachers I've had in my life tbh.
She is a HORRIBLE teacher. She doesn't make any sense and she will go off on little tangents that have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the test. The day before the test she answers any homework questions (which you think would be helpful) BUT YOU'RE WRONG. The only good thing about her is that she tells you a few of the problems that are on the test.
Absolutely adorable lady. Genuinely cares, stayed hours after class to answer questions. Is very approachable and personable. clearly loves teaching. Has her own grading scale where a 5075! Gives you test problems day before. Just wanted to hug her. Gives extra attendance points some days. Replaces lowest test grade with final grade.
Definitely take her! If you go to her office hours she will help you with everything and basically tells you what will be on the test. I made an A in her class and I suck at math. I wish I could take her again!
She made math as interesting as possible. Without her study sessions i would not have passed. There is homework for every chapter but she does not take it up and the tests comes straight from the homework. The only thing that goes in the grade book are the 4 tests and the final.
Super sweet professor! She is always willing to help you in her office hours. Homework is optional but I recommend doing it as it will help on the tests. Lectures are fast-paced. She works out any homework questions you might have. I would love to take her again!
I didn't have too many problems with her. If you do the homework , and show up , the class isn't hard . You do have to work for your grade but she's always available during office hours so you can always ask questions and get help
Mrs. Ramsey is a nice lady. She hosts study groups for tests, but I never went to one. She only has four tests and a final and that is all she grades. Also, only two of her tests and the final are allowed a calculator and she does not provide formula sheets . Attendance is mandatory if you want extra credit. Assigns homework and doesn't check.
Professor Ramsey's grading system is difficult to grasp at first- she grades each test out of 20 points (4 tests and a final). Her method of grading and testing remained superb until Test 4, when she changed the format to a lengthy and confusing 38 pages. Overall, she provides many help sessions, yet sometimes the way she lectures can be confusing
She is the sweetest professor I have seen so far. Very compassionate about her job and is willing to go out of her way to make sure you had a clear understanding of the material. She also offered a lot extra time for students to work with her when she didn't have class.
Donna Ramsey is a very sweet lady, but a very awful teacher. Her lectures are confusing and move too fast, class is boring, and tests are difficult. Calculators are not allowed on anything until the end of the semester, although she will drop your lowest test grade if you improved on that section in the final, you can kiss that goodbye.
Ms Ramsey is a awesome lady. Precalc was super easy with her, I will say I am good at math though. Got A's on everything. She grades like any other math professor. I would recommend her. She explains everything thoroughly and answers any questions. Homework from book is graded but is super helpful preparing you for the test.
I love love love her. She's nice and sweet, dedicates office hours to tutoring students. Hint: go to as many tutoring sessions as you can, it'll help your grade. Do all the homework in the book. No online math access codes. Attendance is taken every time.
Professor Ramsey is an amazing professor. Many math professors are knowledgeable but cannot teach. Well, Prof Ramsey is knowledgeable AND teaches VERY well. If you need help you,she will help you. I would take this prof again. Tests are straight forward. She tells you what will be on there and gives examples. Go to class and take notes an A.
Lectures are pretty good, but I would say that they cater to people who are already pretty good at math. Even though she explained things fairly well, In still struggled through this class as I am not good with math at all. She is always willing to answer questions. She is a nice lady and she makes the class somewhat entertaining.
CON: She is a tough grader & is nit-pitty. PRO: she has a very generous grading scale. Will stay after her office hours to help you. Con: she wouldn't let you use your calculator during test which can be trick in the trig section. PRO: GO TO CLASS, she will give you extra credit if you don't miss more than 2 class
She was a little confusing at first, but after reading the book, I started to understand what she was talking about. Each test has 8-10 questions, and each test was taken without a calculator or "cheat sheet." Study the book before going to class. It's what I did, and I passed every test with a B.
Ramsey is sweet but after taking her class I wish I hadn't. EXTREMELY nit picky when grading. EX- I had a problem correct and she STILL managed to find something to take off points. I am usually a high A student in math.. I ended up with B's on all her tests not because I didn't understand but because of her nitpickyness. Fast/boring lecture.
Mrs. Ramsey had a tough semester with a family issue at the very beginning, so she did her best considering she hasn't taught calculus in a long time. Personally, I don't agree with her incredibly difficult grading, but she's willing to help students who attend her Office Hours and as long as you put in the effort, you can pass easily.
Mrs. Ramsey is a really sweet lady, but the way she taught was really difficult for someone like me who isn't good at math at all. Go to her office hours for help! Attend class. Make yourself familiar with her, email her etc. I got C's, and one A, passed the final and she gave me a B for the class.
Dr. Ramsey is nice but cant teach. She confuses herself & takes forever to explain concepts. Lots of hwk but DO IT & ONLY ask her about ones you absolutely cant figure out. 5 exams taken from hwk questions. Try not to miss more than 3 classes for EC. Death, car wreck, or chemical spills are no excuse. I recommend another prof. unless you know calc
Professor Ramsey is a great professor and a great person. She had some serious family issues in the last year but she has been coping well. As a professor she is very thorough but tends to make a few mistakes, but if you go to office hours she will work out everything you are having trouble with. Her grading system is strange but she helps a lot.
She grades on a 1-20 scale. 1-3.9 is a F, 4-8.9 is a D, 9-11.9 is a C, 12-15.9 is a B, and 16-20 is an A. Homework is not graded in this class, but all of the test questions originate from the homework so it would be very beneficial to complete it. If you do not miss more than 3 classes, she will replace your lowest test grade with your final exam
Really great professor, always willing to help, straightforward, clear cut and makes you work. The best advice I can give is to actually do the homework and ask her homework questions at the start of class!! She is willing to go over anything, and the tests come straight from the homework problems in the book. Challenging but fair class.
Mrs. Ramsey is a very sweet teacher, but the way she taught Calc was probably the most confusing thing ever. She gives tons of homework, but DO IT. Test questions come straight from the homework all she changes are the numbers. If you make one mistake on a test question she will take off points so be as precise as you can. TEXT BOOK IS A NEED
There's only 4 exams and the final which makes up your grade. She doesn't allow calculators. Test are like 8-10 questions. There's homework but she's doesn't grade or check it. She reviews hw question at the beginning of class. Class is very boring and she moves very quickly.
Only 4 test super easy the problems that are done in class are the same ones on the test so copy them down.
