Just dodge this one if you have to pass your class. Too much reading and too custom questions. 4 tests and a book test. I really tried for this class but still failed
Tuff, but fair. interesting
Mrs. Rhea actually made government interesting. For me, it is the most boring subject but I really enjoy her class! She is very fair on her grading and everything. Just don't take her if you are looking for an easy pass.
she's interesting, however, it is not an easy pass, you have to read, don't be absent much, and tests are on the tough side. your in college,so she expects you to do college work! All test have essays at least four per test! plus multile choice!
As long as you show up to class, and do all your work she wont let you fail. She was a good teacher and the class was interesting as it could be.
Her tests are very hard and dont relate to anything she talks about. Very hard to decide when to start and stop listening to all the rambling she does. Horrible class
Donna Rhea is a very good teacher. I personally love Government class, so it was nice to get a good teacher. At first she came across like a very rigid person/teacher, but if you obey her rules and want to learn, she is a dream teacher.
Re: 2301 in Fall 2004 & 2302 in Spring 2005 Prof. Rhea is very organized and lectures well. The class was very interesting and worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed both semesters. Each semester we were required to read a related book and were tested on it.
awesome teacher. You have to read to pass though.Gives extra credit and 100 on book test no matter what....
I took Mrs Rhea for both Government classes and enjoyed both. She is very clear and thorough in her lectures. Take notes and read the text, as you will need to, to do well on her tests. She is very helpful to you if you have any questions from her lecture or the book. Make sure to do the assignments and study then you will receive a B for both.
a very fair, do exactly as she tells you to and you'll get by. Tests are easy,to the point and right out of the review sheets.
Her lectures are very informative, so you need to show up to class to do well on tests. Her reviews don't cover everything that is going to be on the test b/c there are questions from the textbooks too. On the first test, only 3 people made A's, 4 people made B's, 5 made C's, 7 made D's and 11 made F's. So you really need to study! Does NOT curve!
Prof. Rhea isn't the easiest teacher but atleast she's made a boring topic interesting. Her test come straight from notes(so take good ones) and her reviews. I wouldn't recomend buying the book since you don't really use it. Over all though she's really good an I definatley plan on taking her for 2302.
u must be able 2 take gd notes while she lectures, this will help you alot in answering some questions in the review sheets and the essays writing part. just don't sit down in the class and write nothing, i guarantee you will screw up in her test.. make sure u read the TEXT b4 u take d test. it's not really easy to get an A from her
she makes govt interesting, but her tests are hard but make sure u show up everyday to take notes, if u kno how to take notes than u shall do well. u have to work in her class, she is really helpful if u have a question and tries to make u understand.
Ms. Rhea's tests are hard, but her instruction is clear, thourough, and kept my interest. She expects you to think, get over it! Your in college! The textbook wasn't really neccessary, though it fleshed out any holes in the instruction. Go to class, take good notes, do the reviews and extra credit and you will be fine. I have a 98.
This professor is organized and is very nice. She lectures alot so take notes. These notes will answer all the review questions and if you study the review you will pass her tests. She also gives alot of chances for extra credit. If you really want to learn and have fun take this teacher.
I loved Ms. Rhea! She in incredibly knowledgeable and lectures w/o the aid of notes or a textbook. Textbook reading is required for the 2nd 1/2 of government, but most info comes from the lectures. If you don't show up you will fail.Do the reviews thoroughly and you will do fine on the tests. If you have an interest in government take this class.
THIS TEACHER WAS NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL. SHE WAS VERY HELPFUL AND EXPLAINED WELL. I CAME OUT OF HER CLASS WITH A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE COURSE THAN ANY OTHER CLASS. I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE... YOU WILL DEFINITELY LEARN SOMETHING IF YOU PAY ATTENTION
Great teacher. Got an A in 2301 & 2302. She relates things to current events, easy to understand. She is fair and will answer any questions
a VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. She is demanding but fair. Prepare to learn if you get her as a teacher.
she's very direct and up front. i like how organized and helpful she was. she offered extra credit opportunities. i made a "b" in her class by doing what i was supposed to do. i even had her write a recommendation letter for me.
if you do not pay attention to her lectures you will not get a good grade. hardly any of the test questions will come from the book.
Rhea s very profesional and helpful and is will to work with you throughout the semester. She teaches mostly from lecture, though reading from the text and online assignments are a must if you want a decent grade. However, i did find some of here lectures to not be 100% accurate, not sure if she used outdated sources or imposed personal beliefs.
Good Prof, shes hard but fair.Better study "her" material and "listen" to what she lectures because it all comes back at testing time. I got a "C" because I kinda slacked off, but if I would have studied.. A or at least a B. So if you want to learn GOVT the right way, shes the man.I Im taking her again for GOVT 2302.
She is very good at lecturing but in reality, that is the only positive thing about this course with her. Her tests are impossible, the essays are graded harshly. You literally have to ignore everything else in your life to pass this class. i studied for two days in advance for a test and i still failed. i did the review and all of the homeworks...
She is an great prof! She is very helpful and her lectures are interesting! anyone who didn't have a positive experience with her was probably to lazy to do the work!
She is an excellent teacher and is very helpful! She is tough but is fair.
Took the hybird course during the summer. Tests are from study guide and online homeworks. Make sure you comprehend and can connect. There are short answer questions on the tests. She does not drop any grades. She is not "nice" she will not "bump" grades, but she is fair and will help if you ask. She demands respects and returns it.
GREAT TEACHER!!! SIMPLE CLASS... DO HOMEWORK & REVIEW SHEETS , AND YOU SHOULD ACE THE TEST. VERY HELPFUL. I NEVER USED THE BOOK
Take my advice ,do not take her unless you are really punctual and willing to work extra hard.Although She is really helpful, but she has made an easy course seem really hard. she is really strict about deadlines and doesn't accept late work at all.I am struggling and working hard just to pass this course :(
She is really helpful ,fair, and has clarity However, sometimes she goes off topic.Tests are really hard and you'll have to pay full attention in lectures because her test are mainly on lectures and the stuff she teaches is mostly not in the book :( this course is definitely not an easy A or B
you need to be extremly smart to pass her class also you need to really pay good attention and take A LOT of notes...she's really nice but her class was really hard.3 of my friends had to drop her class....ugh!!
Do not take her class unless you like working really hard just to get a B or C .
If you want an easy A or B , do not take her class, else you'll regret it trust me.
I took a hybrid version of this course, and it was my worst experience ever. At first this course seemed like an easy A ,but the professor made it really hard. To do well ,you have to fully attentive in class ,take good notes, and keep up with reading textbook. She is a helpful teacher, but if you want my opinion than I wouldn't recommend taking her.
Though I got a 'B' in this course, but I'm still not satisfied because I believe I deserved much better because of the hard work and efforts I put.In short, you have to be punctual, very focused, and be willing to put time and efforts in into getting a good grade otherwise do not take her you will highly regret it.
She is helpful and fair. but her lectures are too boring and its really hard to be attentive in the class. The tests are really hard and its mainly related with class lectures. If your not paying attention or missing classes, then u will definitely have trouble in tests. She gives a review session in the end before tests, and thats about it.
Don't take hybrid course unless you got no option. Tests are tricky and lectures are boring. She is fair but doesn't really try to grab attention in class. You get homework every friday and sometimes its not easy. I personally didn't enjoy or even felt like attending class because she made it seem more boring than it actually is.
Professor Rhea is the BEST Professor I have had so far. Her lectures are so interesting. I took her class for Govt I and II. Govt I was rather a difficult class, but for Govt II she reduced the number of assignments to only 4. She gives alot of extra credit opportunities and really cares about her student's grades. I got A in both class.
How the govt instituions work its local/global impact onthe lives of public thats what Ms Rhea wants her student to understand.Getting good grades, acquire degree for ajob is not the core of college education;the main purpose is to go outside of the box and think globallyYou will learn politics even if you dont get good grades.A multilingual Asian
Mrs. Rhea is very helpful and very interesting. She clearly knows what she's talking about and gives really good examples that go along with her lectures. I am so glad I tried taking GOVT 2 again.
Excellent professor!
This is one of the best teacher I have ever had. Govt. is extremely boring, but she made it very interesting and engaging. She truly cares and gives you the tools for success. She gives review sheets for every test, and hold review sessions before each test. Tons of extra credit. Very intelligent woman. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! For Govt. 1 and 2.
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. She really cares about her students and about making us learn. If you want to learn, take her. She doesnt curve or drop the lowest but there are extra credit opportunities. If you take good notes and pay attention to class, you will learn a lot! Just dont miss a class, because she doesnt go by the book. I'm def taking her again
Mrs. Rhea is a fantastic professor. I loved the way she related everything to her experiences. She made everything memorable which made the essay prompts easier to choose and explain. 4 tests, all with essays attached. The class would have been boring with any other teacher.
Teacher is great but you have to take great notes and do the assignments n order to pass the class. But she's super cool, totally taking her next semester.
Her class is easy if you attend every day; also, taking alot of notes and reviewing the information she post helps a lot. If your not good in taking notes she allows one to bring a recording device which later one can use to review. I love her class and I would recommend her.
Amazing teacher! Take her for government, you will not only receive an A, you will also find it a really interesting class that gets you thinking. I have learned so many valuable things this semester. She has lots of stories that relate to what we are learning. She also gives tons of extra credit, I don't see how anyone can get below an A.
Ms Rhea is really good. i was very skeptical before i took the course. She happened to be th best of all my professors this seimester. Her class is really interesting, she is willing to help and she KNOWS her stuff.I will recommend her even though the seimester is not over yet.
Probably one of the best professors I have ever had. Very clear, very helpful, but you won't get away with skipping too much. She doesn't write much on the board, and there are no Powerpoints, so you have to be there and LEARN. You will leave the semester being a better citizen and a knowledgble person.
She is a fantastic teacher. Her classes are very engaging. She also relates the topics in class to her own personal experiences. She does cover a lot in her lectures, so I recommend you have a recording device handy if you are having trouble understanding a certain topic.
Excellent professor, explains everything clearly and with examples that allow you to understand the material. Reviews let you know exactly what will be on the exams. Plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Very intelligent , but expects hardwork. Not an easy class but I found it very engaging.
Mrs. Rhea has been the best professor I've had my entire college career. She refuses to teach from the textbook, so her lectures are really important to attend. Seriously take her for the gov core classes, super passionate about the government.
Had no interest in Gov't going in but by the end of the term she made me like it! GREAT teacher. Doesn't teach from ppts so you DO have to be in class, questions come directly from lectures. Tons of extra credit opportunity. Thorough reviews given before every exam. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Professor Rhea is a gifted lecturer. I would recommend her for any humanities course you might need to take.
Fantastic teacher! Far less information to cover than 2305 so easier in that sense. Exam questions come directly from lectures and she provides very detailed reviews. Tons of extra credit opportunities and answers any questions quickly and clearly. Definitely Take Her for your Gov core!!
Professor Rhea is by far one of the best professors I’ve ever had! She is extremely helpful and clear about assignments and exams. She goes well out of her way to ensure each student in her class has everything they need to do well in her class. Lots of extra credit, and reviews. Couldn’t have asked for a better Govt. Professor. Take Her!!
Professor Rhea is outstanding! She's very intelligent and is always full of positive energy. She makes her lectures very interesting and informative. As long as you attend class and take notes you will have everything you need to do very well and learn a lot! She is very relaxed about the rules, all she cares about is that each student is learning.
Take her if you want to learn. Plus getting an A. Very easy A. I calculated the extra points, i ended up with 60 extra credits during the semester! She is amazing.
Almost everything comes from lecture notes so attendance is vital. She does make lectures fun and interesting and does a great job relating state government to you as an individual and a citizen. She made the class fun and I looked forward to it.
By far one of my favorite professors at HCC. She grades off of only 4 exams throughout the semester but gives lots of extra credit. Her lectures are very interesting and attendance is important. Take her.
LOVED Prof. Rhea! Took her for 2305 & 2306. I'm not into politics but she makes it SO INTERESTING. She actually lectures (few PP, some videos) so taking good notes is vital! She cares about her students (if you care about learning!). Gives enough extra crdt opportunities. 4 multiple choice tests wsmall essay portion but do the review & easy A or B
She is my favorite professor! If you pay attention to her lectures you will pass no problem. I love the course structure, no homework just exam grades. The kids that fail this class or do not do well do not care to try.
Professor Rhea is awesome! Her tests are not difficult and her lectures are pretty interesting. Make sure you show up to class or else you won't pass the tests. She also gives A LOT of extra credit. Three regular exams and one final, no homework and no quizzes
I took her class last semester. 4 tests. She hardly teaches them. Her reviews are confusing. She gave me a B in the paper. She is not clear.
Professor Rhea is one of the best professors I have had by far. I took her summer hybrid and it was absolutely amazing. Not only are her lectures engaging and interesting but her tests are easy to follow and fair. She gives a review with all the information needed to make an A on the test. Show up, do the review, make an A. Amazing Person & Teacher
I took the summer class and I got A. But I dont think this is a easy A class. There are four assignments, 2 tests, 2 class activities and some extra credits. Make sure you come to class and take notes. Her classes are pretty interesting and I learnt much more than I expected. She knows the material but I don't think she is an easy grader.
I didn't expect to learn much from this class; I'm apathetic towards Texas government, but Professor Rhea made it so interesting. She actually teaches it from memory rather than the usually tedious, didactic lectures from a textbook or a power point. I made an A but it took a copious amount of effort. I highly recommend her if you want to learn!!!
Really great instructor. Learned a lot. My favorite professor in college
She was awesome! I would highly recommend her to anyone, she gives you plenty of extra credit opportunity to raise your grade. plus her classes were always interesting. she has a great sense of humor and if i could i would take more of her classes.
great teacher! she makes the material so interesting, helps you to understand the state we live in and how it all works- i loved her! i wish i would know about her in my govt 1 ....
Professor Rhea is a clear teacher however, her grading is awful as well as her word play on test and homework. The questions are stated as if its a opinion question but then she marks off points stating you had no proof. What!! No late homework accepted and she is a constant watcher during test so you must study
she is not at all cooperative. A very bad grader. Not clear with what she wants on her papers
The lecture was unclear. She got off topic a lot with personal experiences. Her grading was unclear. The lecture and assignments didn't help with the exams at all. Made an easy class so difficult. I wouldn't recommend.
This Professor was amazing. Here review questions were the test, so if you study them you will be able to pass the exams. Made an A in class. She doesn't use the book and everything comes from her lectures or her power points. Only few things of homework that was easy to do.
Read you'll pass. Why are you in school if it isn't to study. So, read what she gives you, you'll definitely pass.
This professor is amazing, she has a good sense of humor and gives amazing lectures. Her test aren't easy, but if you show up to class and take good notes you'll get good grades. She's a great teacher and gets you engaged in her lectures, a real gem not that many professors like her.
Prof Rhea is a tough but very good Professor. She really cares about her students and is always willing to help you out as long as you put in the time. I am not a poly sci person but I enjoyed her class! You get out of it what you put in!
I would recommend taking her! Her tests and homework (only 2) are very straight forward! you can do good if you review all her notes on canvas :) take her! u don't need the textbook
Professor Rhea was a great professor and I loved her class, her class is pretty easy so I don't know why people think it's hard. The material is stuff you should already know and she does a great job in explaining the material and you should get an A in her class. Loved her class would totally recommend her.
Very unorganized and unable to remember what she has talked about. Her bias is clear in everything that she teaches and spends the majority of the time in class going over personal stories and not talking about the actual material that the class requires. The grade is based almost entirely on 3 exams which are not covered well in the textbook
Very Easy class as long as you pay attention, take notes, and do her test reviews. She covers everything on the exams and also takes time to do test reviews in class.
Great teacher!
She is good, don't get me wrong but I'm not taking her anymore. Yes, she does says she won't round your grade or drop the class if you think is hard. I showed up every day, never missed a class, never late for assignments or anything. I got 89.3, and I still got a +B like really? I would appreciate an A since I never missed a class. Not fair.
The grade is based on four tests that have a multiple choice section and then an essay question or two. If you do the weekly reviews outside of class you should do well. I read the sections in the textbook she recommended, but I don't think it was entirely necessary to do so. Only small complaint is the personal stories she tells.
Great professor, very clear and organized as to what she is looking for. Go to class and take notes, study her power points which are online and you will pass the class. She does not curve! but she does, however, have extra credit opportunities. Tests are straightforward and essays are often questions dealing with discussions in class.
She's fair and doesn't require a textbook. Attending class would definitely serve to your advantage, she will give out a lot of extra credit opportunities when you least expect it. If you study her reviews you will be fine in the class since she only gives out 4 major exams and no final.
Her lectures covered almost all the material of the exams, the homework as expected needs to do research. The classes were sublime, and she is very knowledgeable of what she does. This was my first class non online, and I couldn't have had a better experience. I took state government, summer 5 weeks.
I took her for Fall 2019. There were 3 homework assignments, 4 exams and many extra credit assignments. She doesn't curve grades. She gives reviews before exams but they are questions that need to be answered by you. So you must put a lot of hard work in her class. She wants you to learn the materials, not just come and go. She is a nice lady.
She is a wonderful teacher. I took both of her class GOVT2305 and GOVT2306. I love her lecturing with good stories. There are about 3 to 4 tests with multiple choice and an essay question. You really need to read the book and her material, also take time doing her reviews to pass the test. She is also helpful to answer your emails.
Took her before for GOVT 2305, chose to take her for GOVT 2035! I love her lectures, it was always so interesting. Shes so passionate about government, it really gets you thinking beyond what were shown. Had 3 homework assignments, 2 exams and a final (3rd exam). Her personal stories & hw are really helpful and memorable.
the test was really challenging
She is a very good teacher. She explains the content and makes easy for you to understand. There are too many assignments if you attend the class online, but if you do a presence class it will be just the tests and one assignment. Still, if you are looking for a good teacher, she is the one.
Took her for both GOVTs. She provides a LOT of useful information and you'll learn a lot. I barely got a B+ even with extra credit. Tests are slightly hard but if you study you'll do good. She explain everything very clearly and will explain even more if you need to. Definitely cares about you.
Professor Rhea is the best professor I had so far. It is my first year of college and she made me feel very welcome. You can honestly tell she loves her job, and her lectures are really interesting and easy to understand. It is really hard to fail her class. You just have to finish your assignments on time and the grading criteria are not too hard.
Professor Rhea is probably one of the best professors Ive had. Her quizzes rely mostly on her lectures so I recommend taking very good notes. She will explain something multiple times until it becomes clear to everyone. One thing is that she is strict on turning in assignments. She does not accept late work which is why shes clear on due dates.
Clear grading system with great lectures.
You will have discussions and they are a big part of your grade, She tells you exactly what she wants and how she wants it. For example she tells you she wants X amount of sentences and trust me she is counting. But really no quizzes no tests just discussions on current events. 1 major writing grade Four pages double spaced. She means business
She never accepts late work and she told the class that we should give us extra points if we did her survey and she never did
Professor Rhea is a fantastic teacher. She's very knowledgeable about Texas Government. The readings she assigns are informative and helps the students acquire information on how Texas Government works and how it doesn't work. Each student's opinion is valued and respected. I highly recommend this class and Professor Rhea.
Very strict with her grading. She rarely gives out 100's and her assignments are due at 7pm. The number of assignments that there is is fair, and she lets you drop your two lowest grades. She provides a lot of material for you to read and doesn't tolerate late assignments or plagiarism. There is no test. 50% written assignments, 50% discussions.
My class was online and consisted only of discussion posts and writing assignments. Requirements are vague for the writing assignments, but as long as you answer every part of each question in depth you can get a good grade. She drops the lowest grade for each, which is great if you don't do very well on your first assignment.
No tests, only writing assignments but no late grades
