She was a pure a simple nut. She sometimes didn't know how to communicate things, but overall was pretty easy and clear. Take her for a laugh if nothing else.
She is very willing to stay after class to help you understand so if you have an open schedule, you will do fine. She is scatterbrained and sometimes hard to follow but very funny. Make sure you are on time!
Not too tough, and she is willing to help anyone.
She is crazy. You never know what she's going to say. So the class is always interesting,to say the least. But, if you just pay attention in class, its easy because she puts the exact problems from her notes on the test.
She is the best math teacher that I have ever had. She is very helpful. When you don't understand something, she will stop what she's doing and take time to help you figure it out.
She was very easy, a couple tests just over the examples from class, and she drops three out of around 13 quizzes. She overexplains some things, but goes too fast at other times, but if you go to class and take notes, you'll be fine
She makes Calculus very simple. Her tests are ok, and her quizzes are simple.
Ms. Stein is definitely a teacher worth considering for Math 113 or 125. Class typically gets out early and for those of you who don't like to come or to do homework, no need to worry. She doesn't base grades on either. Some may call her spacey and well...they may be right, BUT it only adds to the fun in a class where bordom is rarely seen.
really excellent explanation and good examples.
She's compeletely insane, but not very hard. If you just have to get through a math class as gen ed, her's isn't bad.
she is CRAZY but easy and it keeps you entertained
She is the cutest little lady! She is really sweet and gives great examples (step-by-step). She is pretty much the happiest person I've ever met- very enthusiastic about math and life in general (always smiling!)
She's definitly crazy. She says random things and weird times but she isn't hard. She's a sweet old lady. I took her big lecture class, we had a quiz in every discussion class execpt when we had a test and then two pop quizzes in lecture. Out of the quizzes she drops to two lowest ones. Not a hard class. 0.985 of a chipmunk is a chipmunk. haha.
she is NUTS! and gives too much information about her personal life sometimes (menopause?) but shes very easy and is very helpful. there are quizes in almost every class, but it makes you go to class (which was good for me). her enthusiasm is out the roof, overall shes a quirky old lady, one of the easiest teachers ive had
Crazy lady, but her class is a joke. If you go to lecture and take notes, she tells you to put stars next to certain problems, and those are the ones you will see on the exams. Really easy, but take her with a grain of salt, because she's nuts.
Her class was pretty easy! But sometimes the TAs taught different methods
I loved her she is always extremely happy. She loves life and her job. Gives great examples and is always willing to offer help.
very nice teacher; goes over examples and tells you almost exactly what is on the test and quizzes. alot of your grade depends on your TA and how good they review and how easily they grade. but as far as Mrs. Stein, wonderful lecture teacher; likes to laugh and try to make class fun, sometimes succeeding but often not; extra credit for attendance
She's an extremely happy person. i have never seen her in a bad mood. she giggles a lot at really random times. She is always willing to help. however, her tests are pretty hard. you just have to pray for a good TA for some help...
She is crazy but always in a good mood & laughing. Her class was easy, especially because she goes over stuff in good detail. Doesn't take attendance, but always go to lecture the day before a quiz in the small group, it helps to have the info fresh on your mind.
this woman is the biggest airhead ive ever come across in my life - if i listened to a word she said i would have failed
For someone who hates Math, this was by far the best teacher for me. She breaks it down so it makes sense. She's encouraging and easy to work with and funny even! I'm so surprised at how painless this class ended up being. Definitely recommend her, especially to non-math people.
Pretty corky lady, but a great teacher. She always gives great examples so students can understand and is willing to help anyone. Great teacher, but extremely hard test. So you actually have to study.
I took Ms. Stein because she had good ratings, however i would not advise anyone to take her. She is extremley disorganized (she even taught the same lecture twice in a row on accident using the same examples). Plus the tests are very hard. Many people are currently failing.
she doesnt make you turn in homework so thats good but shes anoying we dont get anything done in class because she always gets problems wrong.if she does happen to get the problem right she doesnt explain how she got it very well.the MOST IMPORTANT thing though is getting a good TA.that can fix any of her teaching problems.
Well I never went to her lectures and still made a B+. Really it matters who you have for recitation. The times I did go however, she always seemed to make mistakes and does not really explain the material fully.

I thought the class overall was hard for me, but I didn't really pay attention in lecture. When I was in her class she would do each example problems step by step and always asked if there were questions. I thought she was a good teacher for the class!
A little out there, but overall good teacher. Homework was harder than the exams, and she tells you what to study. As long as you go to class and do the homework, it's not so bad. She is very willing to help with projects. Lots of handouts and worksheets, buy a 3 ring binder.
She is a great teacher! I've had her for two classes now, and she actually cares if you learn the material!
Ms. Stein is a very good teacher! The book is absolutely awful but she does a very good job of giving clear examples and explainations. She never puts anything on the test that isn't in her notes. She is very willing to help with projects, and homework. She is a very nice person and I would highly recommend her.
I loved her class! She is the best math teacher I have ever had. She takes examples from the notes and puts them on the tests. She gives alot of mini quizes and drops like 5 grades. She tells you exactly what to do for each concept. Nothing she goes over is ambiguous. She is very willing to help with any questions. Highly Recommended.
One of the best teachers i have had at UT. She is very helpful and notes are clear. Quizes and tests are basically the same as notes so come to class, take notes, and study and you are sure to do very well. I highly recommend taking this class.
She is very easy! If you don't take her when you have to take Calculus 125 you are an idiot! If you go to class and pay attention just a little bit an A is an easy grade. You will love her! She is great!
Good teacher. I enjoyed going to math classes. She explains every concept very well and only puts examples she has done on the tests. Gives a lot of quizzes but they are short and easy and she drops a lot of them. She will TELL YOU EXACTLY what will be on the test. Take her for 152 if you can.
Ms. Stein is the best teacher I have had at UT. She has the best personality, in a good mood all the time. She is very straight forward with her test. If you attend class and take notes you will be perfectly fine. She makes her test straight from her notes. I never used the book. I would diffenently recommend taking her!!!
Ms. Stein is an amazing teacher! If you hate math and struggle with it, you should take this class with her! She will help you out a lot and this class is an easy A. The quizzes and projects are extremely easy, Ms. Stein basically walks you thru them. Her tests are easy too if you just come to class you will make 90s or higher on them.
She is an awesome teacher. She cares about the students and their grades. You have to work hard though. I would not say she is extremely easy she just explains and teaches the material so well that it makes it seem so easy. Take her if you can!
Super helpful. By far the best math teacher at UT. Explains everything in detail.
Negative-The "shortcuts" taught actually make doing the real work harder because the real way to do it isn't taught. Talks to the class like we are in fifth grade. Positive-Exams are medium difficulty. Not much book use, not much homework. Even though the teaching is hard to understand, she at least teaches unlike other profs.
doesnt explain material fully ever. even tho web assign is not her fault, she doesnt explain the material enough to where anyone can do the problems on web assign without previously have taken a calc class. do not take this teacher unless already had a precal or calc class.
Whether or not you like Webassign, Mrs. Stein is a very good professor. If this is your first Calculus class then I would highly recommend Mrs. Stein. She goes out of her way to make sure that you understand the material and she is always willing to answer questions. Basically the only reason you would do bad in her class is if you didn't care.
Ms. Stein is extremely helpful and cares about her students success. If you are struggling with calculus I recommend her. She has a sweet spirit as well and is always in a good mood!
This is supposed to be the hardest beginning level math at UT, but she makes it so easy! I love her, and I think it's funny that she incorporates religion into all her emails. She's great!
She is a great teacher, who takes time to go over the matterial. She will help with anything during her office hours. Just take advantage of all the possiblitys of bettering your grades. She is really easy going, great mood, gets off topic a little with hillarious storys of her past. I advise you to take her class she is the bomb
Ms. Stein is a very sweet lady that truly cares about her students' success. She always tries her best to make sure the students completely understand everything. If you can you should take her!
EASY EASY EASY. So easy in fact that i fooled around and got a B. You will learn and all classes get out 20 mins early. Drops quizzes extra credit the whole nine. Very nice and helpful. Reminds me of grandma!!
Ms. Stein is really nice when you do what she says. DO NOT text or get on computer while in class she'll embarrass you in front of class. Tests are relatively easy and she grades fairly. She really cares about student success but almost too much- she's very annoying about it wanting you to write everything down. Would recommend though
Awesome
WONDERFUL teacher. She cares about every student and goes out of her way to help anyone and everyone. I have never loved a teacher more. She was absolutely fabulous. She goes over exactly what will be on the test and she grades pretty easy. I hate math, but I loved her class.
She's awesome! So funny and always has crazy stories. Good teaching, and it's an easy A if you make a little bit of an effort. I'm even taking her for my next math class. Tests are quite easy, and there are about 10 quizzes over semester. WebAssign is the worst part of the class -- YOU MUST DO IT THOUGH! She rocks.
I love how she teaches. There was a section I was having problems with and she was more then willing to help me with them. I also enjoyed her little stories and the fact that she cared about her students.
Best math teacher at UT...explains everything in depth...tests are very easy and are directly over covered material...she really cares that the students learn and understand...always willing to help at office hours
So awesome! Just finished my 2nd semester w/ her because she's so great. So funny and quirky, makes class so enjoyable. No matter what the course number is, she explains everything so clearly. So helpful, wants you to learn. Must take her if you can. For 113 and 125, almost never used book. Don't need to buy it.
Awesome class and teacher! She doesn't beat around the bush.
Awesome class and teacher! She doesn't beat around the bush. Very straight forward with dates, tests, and lectures. Highly recommended! Probably the best math professor at UT!
I love Ms. Stein! Math is definitely my worst subject - but she explains everything so clearly if you ask for help. Tests are basically exactly what is covered in class. Same with quizzes, and she drops your lowest 3 quiz scores at the end of the semester. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend her! Tells funny stories too
pretty easy jsut pay attention and do the work. homework not required to do or ever taken up. she does treat everyone like you are in kindergarten though
She is super easy! All you have to do is literally go to class and do your webassign and you can easily pull an A.
Ms. Stein is the best math teacher at UT! She is so sweet and helpful, take any class she teaches, easy A!!
She is a very sweet lady. She gives you everything you need for the tests on the reviews. SHE SENDS WAY TOO MANY EMAILS (2+ per day). Classes were extremely difficult to sit through. She HATES phones.
Ms. Stein is precious. The class is super easy (although some say it's not "actual" math) Tells many random stories throughout the class and WILL call you out if she sees you texting. Never used the textbooks, as homework was optional. One of the easiest classes I took at UT. Never had trouble but she would be there if you needed any help!
She is THE BEST!! Easiest Calculus class EVER and she actually teaches you the materia...and she tells super funny stories:)))
She gives clicker quizzes every class to take attendence. She often gets off topic and can't hear a thing. Half of the things on her review aren't on the test. She hates texting, and seems to be a little clueless at times.
She has tendency to make you feel like you're back in elementary school, but she's supper nice & will do her best to help you. She gives daily clicker quizzes so attendance is mandatory, quizzes are worth more on review days. Class & material is really easy. Just come to class, bring printouts, take notes, & study.
She is a really sweet lady, and the clicker quizzes motivated me to go to class; however, I absolutely hated how much paper I used to print out the notes (over 200 pages) and I did not find the reviews very helpful.
Loved her! Easiest math class in my life and I stink at math. TAKE HER!
She is super sweet and super easy! She really cares about the well being of the class and she's great at teaching. I would definitely take her, especially if you are one to struggle with math (like me!).
She's really sweet and honestly cares if you understand the material. She's always willing to help if you need it. Her tests really aren't terrible and she teaches you exactly what you need to know to do well on them. She's very quirky and makes math class not seem so awful! If you're not into math you should take her; she wants you to do well!
The picture is definitely outdated but she is really sweet and very helpful. She often gets off topic, but it is usually interesting. There are clicker quizzes each day but they actually boost your grade. Tests are simple as pie! TAKE HER! I have no complaints at all.
Ms. Stein is a decent teacher. My only complaint is that she gives pop quizzes at the end of class on material you just learned. These can really hurt your grade if you miss class or have trouble absorbing material fast.
She is a nice teacher, but the class is not what I had expected. The class is less about math and more about straight memorizing formulas and historical mathematicians. What has bothered me most is that literally every single week she messed something up technologically. She also gives very childish assignments at times.
So sweet and willing to help in any way. Course material was a joke. Overall easy, clicker quizzes for attendance.Exam questions worth a lot though! Ex. one question worth 10 pts or 5 so remember every minute detail or do poorly on tests. DON'T PURCHASE BOOK
Very sweet, funny woman. Class is ridiculously easy. Daily clicker quizzes, so go to class, but questions are common sense. You don't even really need a calculator. No homework. No need to buy a textbook. She posts her lecture notes online, just bring it to class and fill in any blanks. Definitely recommend Ms. Stein!
She is very good teacher! She provides you with more than enough to succeed in the class. But don't pay attention to the comments stating "she is a easy A"; you have to work to get your grade, like every other class. I had her math 125-calculus class. My low test grades reflected upon my work effort. But overall, she is a wonderful teacher!!!
Very funny old woman. Into telling goofy stories about her life. Only called off class once because her cat bit through her hand. 4 tests and a final. Study guides are almost identical to test. Clicker questions boost your grade and WebAssign homework isn't too terrible. Go to class and study the study guides and you should make an A.
Ms. Stein is a great teacher! She is always willing to answer any questions you may have. She really cares about your success in the course. She is also really good at telling people to be quite, I get distracted easily so that was super nice. Definitely would recommended taking her class!
Donna Stein is an older teacher, which definitely shows sometimes. However, her main goal throughout each semester is to make sure that each and every student understands her material. Study guides are identical to the exams. She gives clicker quizzes but they are mainly meant to boost your grade. Hilarious woman with some great insight!
Donna is an amazing math teacher. She teaches clearly and makes sure that her students know what to expect when it comes test time. Go to class every day because there are clicker quizzes and she has a great sense of humor too. The tests are fair and are helpful in your overall understanding of the course material. Take Donna if you can.
She is a very good professor, at times she may get off topic but really wants you to do well in the class. Make sure to attend lectures because of clicker quizzes and recitations because there is group work and quizzes every time
Ms. Stein is a GREAT professor. She is very clear and has a great personality. She gives clicker quizzes at the end of every lecture as a grade booster, and she basically gives you the answers. She posts notes online and study guides that are very similar to the exams. Very sweet lady. Math is a difficult subject for me, but not with Ms. Stein!!
She gets off topic all the time, which is kinda funny. She just writes examples on the board to teach the material, so if thats your style go for it. Pretty much just make sure your clicker gets to class everyday. somehow. Just make sure you go to the recitation class because quizzes, review, and tests.
Ms. Stein is an angel, she was always there for me if I ever needed her help. She studied with me one on one for the final. Most professors care, but she really cares. I still pop my head in her office just to say hey. It's very important to go to class because she offers extra credit for those who do, and lots of EASY projects.
Purposely gives quizzes on days that attendance is low; these quizzes are also over the material she covered THAT day. In other words, if you didn't quite catch something -- you're done for. Tests start out doable, then take a turn for impossible. Her teaching style is ridiculously fast. I would advise anyone to avoid this class at all costs.
Prof Stein is so funny! She's a little bit off the wall and will tell you crazy stories but overall great teacher. She does some pop quizzes at the end of class but drops a few at the end of the semester. Definitely take her!
Ms. Stein is a sweet lady but her class has not been easy. She's a good teacher, but she goes REALLY fast sometimes to get through the material. She also gives pop quizzes at the end of class, so if you don't know it, you will fail the quizzes. Her tests aren't terrible but you do have to study for them. There is also 1-2 homeworks per week.
Great teacher throughout the year, especially if you have had a little bit of pre-calc before this class. Class is not bad. Tests are exactly what she says they will be like. During class she goes through specific examples that will help you with the tests. Final is harder than rest of class though and is worth 30% of grade. Never have homework.
She is the WORST professor I have ever had! She is the sweetest and nicest lady, but has had a break from reality. DO NOT TAKE HER! She talked about squirrels and her personal life through the whole lecture and did not teach. Her teaching abilities really reflected my grade. Do yourself a favor, and take someone else!
Donna is just your typical math teacher. Her class is boring, because MATH113 is very easy. I had a higher grade in MATH115 because I actually had to do math and study. She is sweet but she can be too goofy sometimes. my rating for her is just, well average. meh.
This was the easiest math class I have ever taken, and I'm horrible at math. Donna wants you to get an A, and that's the grade you'll get as long as you do the web assign, come to class (she gives pop quizzes that are super easy but count for a big chunk of your grade), and ask for help if you need it.
This class was one of the best math courses I have ever taken. She puts lecture notes online and you fill them in during class which I find to be a very effective teaching method. Sweet fun lady! Highly recommend the class. The tests can be tough and do require a good amount of preparation but the in class projects help your grade. Great teacher.
Donna Stein is awesome. She is a very funny and sweet woman. I would definitely take her again. She works very hard to accommodate her students.
The class was pretty easy for being calculus. There are 4 tests and around 10 quizzes and a bunch of online homework. She takes the top 7-8 quizzes and drops around 3 homework grades. She often finished early and grades easily. She provides clear instruction but isn't good at answering students questions.
Donna was wonderful! She is super hilarious, sweet, and helpful if you need it! She makes class very easy and all her notes are online and printable for class!
Such an easy teacher, funny and kind. Just a sweet older lady and is very helpful. She posts her notes on BlackBoard every day and keeps your grades updated through WebAssign, which is also where all of the homeworks are. The tests are straightforward and easy. If she feels like the class did well for the day, she'll give a simple 10 point quiz.
She's a great professor. She posts all notes on to blackboard.
Stein is always happy and a very funny teacher. Attendance is not mandatory but she gives a lot of pop quizzes to it's a good idea to go. She is always offering office hours and will help anyone; she even emails the notes after every class. She gives a lot of Web Assign but she gives you a lot of chances and study guides. Really glad I took her.
Ms. Stein is a wonderful professor and a really sweet lady. I absolutely love how she interjects information from her personal life because it makes her seem more human. She really is interesting! I personally didn't find this class to be very easy, but she made the challenge as manageable as it could be.
Ms. Stein made Calculus not so bad. She is a funny lady and teaches very slowly (in a good way). She is super organized and uploads her notes online. Highly recommend for Math 125! :)
Ms. Stein is truly a wonderful lady. She has been teaching Calculus for many years, and it shows in her lectures and communication ability. Calculus is a difficult course, but Ms. Stein is one of the only math teachers I have ever had that makes the tough material easy to approach, and it will stick with you.
So sweet and funny. Your only really important grades come from heavily weighted tests and web homework, don't have to go to every class and she's always available for help constantly. Sends a ton of emails for some reason. Super adorable and not too hard of a class. If you're not a math person, this class isn't too bad.
Ms. Stein is a very nice woman. She really cares about how well you do in her class. There's a lot of online hw, but you get multiple attempts, and its not too hard. She gives a lot of pop quizzes, but its hard to not make a 100 on them. The tests are difficult though, so make sure to take good notes and review the night before. Kinda boring; chill
Sweet little lady that really does care about how you perform in her class. I am not necessarily a math person and I got an A in this class. Her exams might be difficult if you literally don't study but if you even just glance over her notes (which she posts online and emails if you miss class), you'll do fine. I never got below an A on an exam.
Donna Stein was recommended to me by the head of the math department! She was very kind and has great sense of humor! I would definitely retake a course with her!
Ms. Stein is an exceptional professor! It would be extremely difficult to fail her class because of the (easy) homework and extended deadlines she will make for the class. She uploads all of her notes to BlackBoard every single week and creates perfect reviews for each test. There will be easy online homework frequently and regular quizzes.
Ms Stein was a great professor! She genuinely wants you to understand calculus and learn exactly what you need to pass the final. The class is very straightforward, but she can get sidetracked sometimes telling stories.
She wants you to have fun with the material and does everything she can to make sure you understand it. She will go around the room and have everyone solve a problem just to make sure you got it. She makes cute jokes in her lecture notes that she posts online. Definitely take her if you can.
Ms. Stein is the best professor I have ever had. I had never done well in math and with her help, I made a B in Calc 125. She is caring, cute, and always helpful! GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS SHE WILL HELP SO MUCH IF YOU'RE LOST! By far one of the sweetest beings. Also, she breaks notes down in class and goes slow for you to understand!
Donna was the best. She almost always lets class out early, she is hilarious and the material was super simple and easy to understand. 10/10 recommend.
Unfortunately my class was Ms. Stein's last semester at UT because she retired. However, she was the one of the best professors I have ever had and was one of the best in the math depart. Super caring and sweet! Loved her and her class. She made calc very understandable and easy. All you had to do was show up to class and you knew the test.
