The Best Professor I've ever had, Interesting and her tests are so easy that I actually LAUGHED. She also teaches pretty much out of the book, so u dont have to read it all that much...her class is just so much fun!!!!
Overall good teacher, a rarity here at rutgers.
Other professors should sit in her class and take notes on how a class should be taught.

So cool and down to earth, a professor who allows you the freedom to be yourself, express your own opinion without ever criticizing you for it. Exams are extremely fair,no trick questions,and she is always there to help if needed. Great class, take it!

toma is lazy. don't bother going to office hours bc she wouldn't show up. but if you are going to take adol dev you have to take it with her. you learn alot of interesting**** and the exams are really easy.
The class is easy and the exams are easy. However, Dr. Toma can be rude at times. Doesn't have any time to listen to you after class because she runs off and only gives you the time of day if you have psycho problems.
Very entertaining class, easiest psych class at Rutgers. 4 exams and I've gotten A's on all of them so far. Go to class to laugh and take down what she tells u to take down cuz its on the exam. love her style and her attitude!

She's a very interesting and lively professor and tells very amusing stories. The class is quite easy as long as you went to class, took good notes, and read the book. I would recommend taking Toma over any other professor any day.
She is by far the best psych teacher I have ever had! She is very interesting, gives easy exams, and listens to what the students have to say. Make sure to go to class and take good notes, exams come right from the notes.

Yes she is easy, so if you are after an easy "A" look no further. However I think that her students would get more out of her class if she was a bit more organized.
She is an Awesome prof. Her exams are easy. You don't have to read the book cause everything comes from her notes, but you have to show up to class and take a lot of notes (especially pay attention to the stats). She is interesting and funny! EASY A

Dr. Toma is a one woman show. Class is actually entertaining, and I wasn't looking at my watch every 5 minutes out of boredom. Decent material, easy exams. She is a brilliant prof.

She's animated and enthusiastic and humorous, and definitely a nice person, but she's not a good professor. She diverges from the topic a lot. Her tests seem easy but they are difficult cause the book SUCKS, she doesn't cover all the topics and worst of all she gives out a lot of contradictory info

Class is fairly easy. Her notes are all over the place. Get ready to write FAST! Don't blow off the exams, 1/2 the class cheats so be aware of what you're up against.

seems like an easy class..but its not that easy..her examz are kind of tricky..she asks a lot of percentages..pay close attention to her notes ..alot of questions come from the notes...

This class is SO easy to get an A it's ridiculous. You just need to do one of two things: A) Go to class B) Buy a semester pack from First Class Notes. Her exams questions are literally her words from class, verbatim. Anyone who didn't get an A or B obviously didn't bother to get notes.
The person who wrote the last review need to stop misleading people and possibly jeapordize someone's GPA. The class is not an easy A. You have to go to her lecutres and write feverishly when she babbles. Then you have to read CERTAIN things in the book. She wont tell you what though.
I bought a semester pack from First Class notes, memorized the details, and aced the class. If you can't understand ramblings and take good notes, pay someone else to :)
She was VERY disorganized. Very hypocritical-she'll talk on her cell, but if one rings in class she'll stop teaching! Always late and kept us over. Poor knowledge of the material had to retract and correct a lot of the things she said read from book during lecture got a B+ without doing much
OH gosh she is the greatest teacher. She's so crazy and really funny! Her notes may seem disorganized but if u just bring ur laptop and type as fast as she talks, everthing makes sense! Very interesting class - definitely an easy A. Changes ur idea of psych. Dont listen to these idiots.
Easiest psych class ever. Must have full set of notes for exams. One complaint: Her overpowering cologne gave me a headache three rows back.
She's basically a man. Likes to hump the floor during lecture. "Buh-buh-buh" (trust me you'll know what that means if you take this class). Not the easiest psych class, but not hard. Constantly late, often just doesn't show up. If you manage to keep up with her babbling during class, you'll get an A
This class was so easy. You have to be a moron not to get an A. All you have to do is go to class and take notes and there is no need to read the book. One of the easiest classes I have ever taken.

Unbalanced course. Overemphasizes "women as victims" approach (don't get me wrong--it's relevant, but she overemphasizes it). Equal time not given to other analytical perspectives. Feels more like Sociology of Women than a psych course about adolescence. Leave your personal biases at home, Toma.

I LOVE this lady. Best Professor i've had at rutgers. She made class interesting, fun. If you go to lecture and read the book there's no reason you can't do well. Would definately reccomend taking her

I took this class because I heard it was easy and it was. I went to class and read the aweful outdated book and didn't learn anything. I wish I challenged myself with more interesting material, even if it would have been harder. Take another class unless you need an easy one.

After finishing my 3rd year as a Psych major, her classes are the only ones I have taken information from and appllied to life circumstances. She is not one to lecture, but rather discuss as to make sure the students are understanding her. The 4-hr summer classes flew by. She knows her stuff. I would take more classes with her if I could.

She is more focused on her former students and does not notice the rest of the class' frustration with the numerous interruptions of personal stories. To make matters worse, her notes are insanely unorganized and she can make the simplest concepts seem impossible to understand in the way she explains it. NOT FUN!

I had her in the summer and I didn't talk but I got an A...other ppl got annoying and her midterm was impossible. She gave 5 pts extra credit on her final which was insanely easy because i didn't even study. Overall good exp.
great professor... most entertaining in adolescent development. Even tho I heard that she is great with intro-psy. Tons of funny stories and makes the learning experience very easy.

I totally agree with the rater below (but I got a C on my exam and I'm an A student). This teacher is definitely not as cool and easy as all these other ratings say. IDK what happened but I'm very disappointed with this class. Dr Toma is insanely unorganized and can be very condescending. I hope she decides to curve exams.

Comes to class late, spends thirty minutes giving therapy sessions to her "groupies" in the first row and has no organization to her notes. She reads everything DIRECTLY out of the book, and then her "discussion" of the material is how the book is wrong. Late, disorganized, impossible to know what is on exam
She really does just blab on all through the lecture, or spend the time giving people therapy...you'll end up with maybe half a page of notes that make no sense. She was really helpful with rescheduling my final exam though, and I still managed a decent grade, it's just frustrating to sit through her lectures.
dr. toma is rude, very very stubborn and unclear about what will be on exams. you need to memorize the book to do well. its impossible to stay focused in her class and one time she lectured from on top of a ladder. she's wacky and hyper and the group therapy is totally unnecessary.
ok she might be a little random, but if you take the effort to get to know her (office hours) so that she knows your name..your life will be so much easier...yes the exams can be tricky but if you read the damn book you should do fine.. go to class cause she tends to put stuff on exams not in book.. dr. toma is the nicest person ever take her class
Honest rating-she is a VERY kind person. However, I didn't care for her class. It consisted of maybe 10 minutes of notes followed by another hour of group therapy. Toma is very lively which helps but she is ALL over the place. It's impossible to take good notes and to know what's going to be on the exam. It's not hard to get an A but its not fun.

This is a very good class, take it if u r willing to work and learn some new material, if ur good at taking notes then u will do well on the exams b/c the exams come str8 from the book and the notes u just have to know how to use the material wisely and not expect it to come str8 from anything but to analyze what u kno and apply the knowledge
Please take the other Professor teaching this course. She is so unclear. YOu have to know the whole book to do good in the class

Dr. Toma is among the worst professors at Rutgers. She is always late, never prepared for class, confuses her facts, and puts students down one minute and then praises them the next. Study the book, go to class, and hope for the best.
Toma is very nice and helpful. material is very interesting, but there is a lot of it and you have to know it ALL. take the class if you are willing to work hard and learn. i enjoyed it, but it was stressful at times, i ended up with a B.

TOMA=WORST! Lectures=irreleavnt. The structure of her class: 15 mins late, 20 mins of notes, 45 mins of a Dr. Phil therapy session. Exams suck and the questions are random. She is an over-caffinated lunatic! Dunkin Donuts Coffee + Jonah Toma (her son) = DISASTER! Avoid at all costs!

Tests are EXTREMELY difficult, questions seem to come from the most minute details from the textbook even if you go to every lecture and study the book, there is no gaurantee you will do well..if the class is a requirement take someone else! just because she has a PhD doesnt mean she can teach!

Dr. Toma is great! Although her teaching style is somewhat unconventional, she is passionate about the material and has a strong desire to help students learn. THIS CLASS IS NOT DIFFICULT. Just do the work and you'll be fine....try taking a bio class if you think this stuff is hard.

the tests are very hard. I dont care for psych all that much so it is even worse. Prof toma loves teaching this stuff it is just hard not to fall asleep. She give random fact 5 mins before class is over. It was just a mess
Dr. Toma is one of the sweetest human beings on Earth. She stays after class for several hours and helps students with their problems. How many profs will do that? She makes class interesting and is very energetic. Exams are tough, but if you read the chapters and go to class, you will be fine.

I can't believe that they decided to kick HER out considering some of the HORRIBLE professors that make up the psychology department. Dr. Toma was so systematic - she layed everything out clear and precise and more importantly she was so energetic and you could see that she really LOVED what she did. Toma impacted me a teacher I will never forget
