She gets easily confused, always telling us that the $150 text she made us buy is wrong, and isoften late to class. Do whatever it takes to avoid her classes. I read this before I took the class and thought it can't be that bad but ist was worse.

Every bad thing people say about her is TRUE! she is always late for class, she has to borrow a textbook from someone so she can read it all class. She tells the worst stories, she screws up material in class and then tells us later its wrong. she invents graphs and doesn't explain them and then puts them on exams. WORST TEACHER EVER!!!

She just skipped the last two lectures of the semester. We have no idea what will be on the final. I read all these ratings before I took her class and thought she couldn't really be that bad, but she is worse. Her complete lack of professionalism is an embarrassment to the university. Try and find one good thing about her in here, you can't.

Incredibly incompetent. Her tests contain dozens of spelling mistakes, yet she is the pickiest marker I've ever come across. Often late for classes, even mid-terms. Never uses tests more than once so she never knows how long they really are. A complete embarrassment to the U of L. Can't we trade her to LCC for some whiteboard markers?

I have only been in school for one year, but so far townley is the worst teacher i have run into. I hd her for my econ labs and during the labs th students in the class would correct the answers she gave. Plus she was late for the every class, at least 10 minutes.She is not professional, nor is she knowledgable of the subjects that she teaches.

Worst professor ever! She was always late, gave us wrong formulas, wasn't able to explain anything: if you ask her to explain, she will repeat the same thing the book says. There were typos and unclear language in the tests. Also, really scary to try to approach for help.

Do everything in your power to take this class with someone else. The material isn't too bad, but she is really bad... shows up late every class with some bs excuse and then gets mad when the class is talking when she comes in late... bottome line... she is the worst prof i've ever had

Donna is the worst. She made 10 mistakes on the last midterm, and wrote all the corrections on the board, and still expected us to finish the test on time. You are better off just reading the textbook than going to class because thats all she seems to do anyways.

By far the worst prof i've ever had. She just cannot teach and her assignments have little to do with how her tests are. Also going to class is useless unless you want to here her rant about cheating and how much she loves pizza. every example she uses in class has to do with pizza or some other food. Doing poorly in this class is not a sign that you did not work hard enough or that you did not attend the lecutres. Quite simply, she does not know the material. She is unprofessional, often arriving 5-10 minutes late to class and contradicts herself. She frequently makes mistakes in a 1000 level class. Completely incompetent.

AVOID THIS PROF. If you do get her your better off just reading the book, this is because that is all we did in this class. I especially liked when she was copying from the book and students were still correcting her mistakes. This is a 1000 level class and it was a complete disaster.

Worst teacher ever! My GPA was 3.9 and I had her class my last semester. I thought I was failing her class all the way until after the final exam when I realized how she can just pull an A- out of nowhere on me. Thanks for torturing me during my last semester. Terrible teacher !!! She was my lab professor and was the worst ! She would get off topic and talk about her personal life, which had nothing to do with what was going on in the class. Avoid taking any classes with her at all cost ! We would only do 3 questions each lab when we could of done 10 or 15. TERRIBLE TEACHER !!

well, i certainly have learned about restaurants in lethbridge... and that's about it. had a rough time with almost every student's name, and seems to know absolutely nothing about economics, despite holding a master's degree in the subject from a fairly reputable university.

if you want to kill trees by drawing graphs, sleep in, or look at her short pants, take this class. other than that, don't waste your time. if you have to, and you also have her as a lab prof, don't go to the labs, work through the questions on your own, and read the text book at home. she posts the answers anyway.

Townley taught the 3010 lab. She is the most incompetent instructor at the U of L. She doesn't remember the material and looks up basic definitions in the text book. She makes the material much harder then it really is. She also has some hangups about not having a pHD. Its too bad for econ majors because she teaches the labs for 3010 and 3012.

I will never be taking another pure with her. She doesn't know whats happening half the time and tells pointless stories the entire class expecting you to remember it. She doesn't give out a formula sheet and expects everything memorized. Plus her weekly 5 question quizzes that have a mandatory 85% to pass. I have had to take this course twice.

She's easily one of the worst profs in this entire school, brought her kids to class and had them sit there for a solid hour. Talked about random stuff that's not even related to the course. The list goes on and on...

Oh boy.. Townley is confusing and lacks self-awareness. Packs too much material into each class without being able to convey understanding of Macroeconomics in a suitable way. Didn't understand why class did poorly on tests. You must rely on yourself with this prof. You have better luck using text and online lab on your own then showing up to class

The worst professor I've ever had. Constant humble-brags about the most unimportant things.... 56% average on a midterm for an intro course? Take the arguments from students and curve your grades at least. I can't believe I wasted tuition on her class when I could have just as easily read the book. I hope tenure board takes course evals seriously.

Townley would spent maybe 20 minutes of class actually teaching and the remaining time talking about her kids, her pantry and her economics magazine. She was not very helpful when asked a question, and gives off a very belittling vibe when talked to. I think she's the only teacher for macro left but try taking it with someone else if you can.

Gets off topic, talks about things that do not really matter to the course material. I thought I would really enjoy Economics but Ive learned more from Khan Academy than I have from Townley. Some of my friends are just saying they are better off not going to class and learning it on their own.

She's long winded, falls off topic with irrelevant examples, and she cares more about completing the slides than teaching the content. If she were to actually use relevant examples and use the formulas and explain them properly I think she'd be better.. personally I'd avoid her at all cost and you'll probably need the textbook to teach yourself.

Donna's lectures are long and uninformative. She talks mostly about her personal life and is very easily offended. She expects people to come to class even when she is very unclear when talking about the topics that need to be learned. If possible, take this class with someone else or take it over the summer but not at the Lethbridge campus. AVOID.

Donna has a great grasp on economics, but lacks the ability to teach it to students. her inability to do this is reflected in her class averages, as none of them are above 60%. She cannot explain concepts/formulas in class, and she chooses not to post her class lectures on Moodle. each class you walk out of leaves you confused. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.

Donna Townley would do well to give more problem based classes which focus mostly on going through questions on the board as opposed to talking at the class for 50 minutes with long winding lectures with little to no point. She is not clear and her class is not easy. Instead of explaining things to you she just talks at you.

Worst Professor Period. You will not benefit at all from this class. She is more worried about sending emails of why office hours are cancelled or excuses of why she does not want to do her job. The online textbook is brutal and only way to learn is to do all the assignments 100 times. use all resources to avoid this professor.

She makes it seem as if we all have a economics background and that its straight forward and easy to understand after she rants about stories and her being sick for half the class. Townley is unfortunately one of the professors I would advise to avoid if possible. Her lectures fail to cover the already complicated and advanced material and has a hard time making office hours on a regular basis. Content requires what could be said to be advanced economic knowledge and is not viable for a first-year course. Find another prof.

Economics is not suppose to be that hard of a class. She is an incredibly hard marker, in my time at uleth i never heard of a higher class average of a 62.5 for any midterm. There is a reason why Trans class fills up before donnas.

Been here for a couple years and have been putting off Macro for a while because of my prior knowledge about Donna. This has got to be one of the hardest classes I have ever taken and its a first year class?? Donna try's to help but it does not come across as she makes you feel like you need a degree in economics to understand her. AVOID !

Donna might be a good person outside the classroom, but she has no idea how to teach. She is approachable in and outside class hours but there is minimum to no help from that whatsoever. The class isn't easy on it's own but her teaching and her test set ups are absolutely HORRIBLE. She does't care about students success; class aver. is always low.

Instead of coming to class and complain about how sick she is for the majority of the lecture and waste everybodies time. She also has trouble meeting deadlines, our midterms took 3 weeks to mark and she emailed us daily about how she would have them done tomorrow

Townley is the worst prof I have ever had. She has an excuse for every thing.. Cancels office hours on the daily, and takes weeks on end to mark a few short answer questions from the tests. My inbox is flooded with annoying, unnecessary emails from her. Inside the classroom however she does not explain concepts well at all. Self taught myself

Class discussion was "encouraged", but differences in opinion was not respected. Often told that class incorrect information, and if you were to correct her, she would just tell you that she was not looking for an argument. Professors are meant to encourage thought, not tell you what to think. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Heard that she was awful, but thought she couldn't be that bad, I was mistaken. Worst Prof, worst class. Macro is hard, and Donna makes it even more difficult than it should be. Donna never marks tests when she says she will and she marks way too hard. I would recommend that you try to void taking Macro with her, she tests you on the most random things and doesn't even specify how todo your assignments. That being said, if you ask her questions she will try and help, she's just hard to understand.

Prof. Townley is wildly unorganized and does not present information well. Often gave out incorrect information. Comes to class late everyday. Each midterm this semester moved multiple times as she failed to coordinate with Testing Centre/had not prepared exam. Took Econ 1012 with Donna and had an abysmal experience. Would not recommend.

As others have said, she's incredibly hard to follow in class. That aside, she also gets needlessly political. When asked about gov't policy, instead of explaining the thought process, she says the Liberals or NDP are just after votes. It's one thing to disagree with policy, but at least explain the principal behind it. At least the quizzes help!

I think Donna is a great person overall, and she throughly understands the concepts of economics BUT... Her teaching style needs some work. She goes way too quickly through all the topics in the course, her explanation to the class is often far off topic or just plain awful, and it seems like the material on the exams is covered too briefly.

Does not teach relevant information in class.... Goes on rants about rules in agriculture rather then teaching the required information. Be prepared to teach yourself...

Pick a different teacher!! Had to withdraw from the course because I couldn't stand taking her course. For lectures she only explains one graph and leave all the other things for you to figure out. She is very very VERY test heavy and that is all your graded on! Had to do 12 quizzes, 3 midterms and a final. Be prepared to teach yourself.

This class was so much harder than it needed to be. Lectures in most are not relevant to course material, and when they are they are not explained in depth. I spent tons of time in the textbook trying to actually understand the course, because there is minimal teaching gone on in class. Get ready to teach yourself. Would not recommend. At all.

Overall she was incredibly useless as a prof. Econ 1012 is a pretty formula heavy class and she didnt do a single example with numbers the entire semester. You'll have to teach yourself from the textbook but still go to class because every once in a while she give a random list of things and put it on the test. Save yourself some trouble and avoid.

Most unprofessional professor I've the misfortune of taking a class from. Skips class constantly with excuse after excuse. Blames the class when the test grades are low, and constantly changes the expectations. Yet when I email her about one specific thing she should change to help her students she claims it can't be changed. Avoid like the plague

I'm going to start off by saying Donna is a nice prof but she's not a good one. At the beginning of the year when I started taking her classes she would get so off topic that it was agony to sit through the whole 1:15 lecture so I just started to read the textbook instead and turns out that a lot of the material being taught isn't even in there

She showed up super late to 50 minute classes all the time then would run classes late so i would be late for my next one. She brought snacks on Friday's sometimes which was honestly the only good part about this class. Definitely avoided taking her when I did macro.

I wish I would've listened to everyone when they told me not to take intro to Macro economics with Donna. I took it over the summer and on the last day of class she informed us that we were actually all going to fail if we didn't study really hard for the final. More than half the class passed, those who did pass didn't by much. Nice but a bad prof

She is always late to class. The lectures have nothing to do with the course material and aren't tested. You can take a different approach to your teaching, but the class is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and we need to actually learn economics. Reading the textbook and doing the quizzes a million times each is the only way to do well in the class. >: I

No matter what you do she is horrible at explaining things that you dont understand.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DONNA. Goes through lectures light speed fast and doesn't explain what she is doing. Also doesn't wear shoes lots of the time... expects you to just know and assume what she is talking about. Doesn't take criticism well when someone tries to correct her.

Final exam marks were never posted, with her boost of grades unexplained. Makes herself available outside of class and gives good one on one feedback, but constantly late to class. In lecture, barely covers course content, till the last week where she covers a multiple chapters per 50min class. Difficult exams, but solid review of them afterwards.

Good lord avoid this woman at all costs. Every lecture will be about 5 minutes of actual teaching, 40 minutes of her telling you what you can buy at Best Buy, and the last 5 minutes rushing though the 5 graphs you were supposed to learn today. I have basically taught myself this entire course.

Hands down the worst professor I've dealt with at the U of L. She was quick to respond to my emails but her replies were, without fail, passive-aggressive and condescending rather than actually helpful. The Moodle exams were frustrating; she kept changing instructions and time limits during the testing window. Find another class, it's not worth it.

Worst prof in the world. Never answers emails, doesnt care for her students, a test is either 100 or 0. She posts key terms with no definitions and doesnt post lecture videos. U are entirely on your own. She wouldnt even set up a zoom call when I tried asking for help. I passed by 0.1% Do not take a class with her.

Awful teacher. Donna should quit teaching as she is not prepare to provide any teaching information to her students. She does not explain the information for this course and expects students to teach themselves. So we are paying to teach ourselves.

Absolute garbage prof. Text book is littered with errors, along with her "key terms". Questions do not relay what is taught in the text book, and exams also have spelling errors. Wouldn't catch me dead taking this prof again. class average was a 65 for our exam, and that says a lot about this prof. Talks in circles, and cant teach to save her life

Finally finished this god forsaken class, and honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my final grade. Take this class with anyone but this prof. Class averages always suck on exams. Her lectures don't teach anything. You can make up the grades in quizzes, but you need 100%, or you get nothing. You'd be surprised how much time it takes.

Donna is a very nice person, she definitely knows what she's talking about. However, she does not know how to teach. Her quiz's are difficult and you need a 100% to get a 2% in the overall course. Exams are based off of the moodle quiz's. If you can master the Moodle quiz's, and are okay with teaching yourself, take this course.

Shes really passionate about Econ but not passionate about students success. Youre required to memorize upwards of 30-50 formulas total for exams that are not open book, and give you no formula sheet. Exams are extremely difficult. If you dont require this class, dont take it. If you do require it, change your major.

Exams are the most difficult. You have to memorize everything. Class lectures get off topic most of the time and are about nothing that is on exams. She sends out so many unneeded emails a day. About 70% of the class dropped out. I would avoid this professor at all costs.

You have to pretty much reteach yourself every lesson because she does not explain any of the concepts that she brings up. She often just simply draws a graph and gives no explanation of when it is to be used or what it is. I had to put in at least 4 hours a night relearning the lesson. Our highest class test average was a 49%

Memorize this, memorize that, most of the lectures just seem like the information is being read straight from the textbook. I know economics isn't an easy concept to understand, but when the class average is failing, it's not all on the students. Also didn't appreciate how she would get mad at students for simply asking questions during the lecture

This course was a nightmare, ended up teaching myself through the textbook and YouTube, which isn't what I'm paying for. Donna doesn't know how to teach and lectures were all over the place. Forgot to mention the drawn graphs that are impossible to read.

You cant read her graphs because she won't adopt newer technology, and the whole course is drawing graphs. in-class practice problems would go a long way, but she is nearly always late to class/barely on time. Also, does not answer emails/follow through. The longest it took her to answer me was 20 days.

This is the dumbest prof at the school by far. If you want to learn about the most usless tangents and not the class then take this. But if you want to pass and get a good grade and learn the stay so far away. She is very rude to everyone and doesnt care about students.

Had issues with her teaching style. I couldn't understand the blending of philosophy and mathematics in her course and the practical applications of economics were lost on me. I got better econ professors and had a better time in my later years.

Don't take a class with Donna EVER. She is unprofessional, unprepared for classes, shows up late, posts study material late etc. She opens exams before she finishes teaching the material that you are going to be tested on. Material she posts have excessive typos that make it impossible to understand what you are studying. Waste of money and time.

Donna should re-evaluate how she teaches course material given it appears she hasn't updated her methods since the 90s. Unreadable notes, late to class often, poor exam prep options other than her practice quizzes. Good luck to this lady, only professor I've had that genuinely took enjoyment out of the course for me.

I loved the way Donna set up her notes but the exams were so hard and overcomplicated. Would not recommend taking her for Micro Economics, especially for a first-year student.

If you are a first year and want to enjoy economics and school in general never ever take a class with Donna. Lectures are ridiculously unhelpful and just reads off the powerpoint that she did not create. Also make sure you have email notifications on because she spams 8 emails a day. Every time I want to be angry, I think about this class.

The worst prof you could have. Her lectures were absolutely incoherent and quite often I found she would be giving the wrong answers or examples. Her tests were nothing like what you do in the homework and were extremely difficult, especially the long answer questions. The fact that she has been working here for over 30 years terrible, BAD!!!

What a disaster of a prof. Had a bad year with textbook/website. Was not a very good teacher and it showed with most people failing or dropping the class. If you also want two billion emails a day of her bs, chose Donna as your prof.please tell U of L to stop making any class by her a requirement, or get someone else to teach the same class PLEASE.

I have no idea how this individual is working as an instructor at the university. Disaster as a teacher. Poor teaching skills and lacks maturity(will send tonnes of email) .The reason why I got a decent grade is because I studied myself. Uleth should seriously consider replacing her as the students do not pay to study themselves.

Very strict exams and going in soo deep students can not understand

Beware of taking Donna's class. She is making us study the non-academic and academic offense discipline policies for our midterm and she wants the answers so specific that it's impossible to remember. She talks too fast, hasn't updated her methods since 500 BC, and she can't spell. Save yourself and take the online course!!!!!!

You would think if a prof has a million students lined up outside her door constantly with not a single student having a good thing to say about her would indicate shes a horrible prof. She is extremely rude, combative and the worst prof ive ever had. If I could take this class with Jeff I would in a heartbeat, she makes me want to quit uni.

Will test on subjects not related to economics and get TAs to grade that have no idea what they are doing, take this class if you want to be punished for not knowing academic policies that have nothing to do with economics and lose 10 marks because of it.

I go to class, review notes, participate in class and have a good understanding of economics but still fail or score low on exams. The exams are very wordy and even after 8 or more hours of studying for each exam I still managed to fail my exams like many other classmates. Her class genuinely has made me consider dropping out.

I would never prefer to take her again. Honestly, she is good at teaching, but the test heavy course structure makes the course horrible.

Avoid taking a class with Donna at all costs if you can. I have had to retake both micro and macro because what she teaches is not on the tests. she provides no study material and the quizzes she does give are taken away before the test so you cannot study. Donna is a nice person but her classes are horrible. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!

If you're considering getting a Business degree at the U of L, don't, because you will have to go through Donna. She closes her notes, old assignments, old tests, and help hours leaving you with literally no material to study with. If you attend her lectures you will learn nothing about what's on her tests either. DO NOT TAKE

As a person she seems great but her class structure is awful. I showed up to every lecture, got 90%+ on each quiz, did all of her practice tests, and yet when I sat down to do midterms and the final it felt like I knew nothing. Out of all of her micro and macro courses, not a single class had a passing average on her tests.

Absolute worst prof at the UofL. Macro with her seems impossible to pass. You would think the school would offer this class to be taken by more than just her if its a mandatory class...

she is not suited to take introductory course like micro and macro to students,she basically leaves you stranded right before the exams and all she does is talk about real world economic problems before the concepts.The workload she gives is enormous and doesn't consider students might have a bunch of other classes to take.take her class and suffer

Awful at teaching. Lectures were super hard to follow and she goes too fast when explaining graphs. 5 minute YouTube videos explain concepts better than she could. Also, way too many spelling mistakes in her notes/test, making things hard to understand. You'd think with 40 years of experience she'd know how to spell a grammatically correct sentence

extremely condescending. Lectures are occasionally confusing and when asking for help I felt looked down upon as I had difficulty with the material. Grading was weeks behind and constantly blamed her "graduate students" for not keeping up with marking. She bad mouthed a couple of students for their effort and they found out about it. Yikes.

Mrs townley is a good teacher in explaining the course, but her course is very hard to understand i can't understand the concept of economics and her exam is too much hard to score, sorry to say you professor but i won't going to take this course again with you.

She's honestly really helpful if you ask her questions and it's clear she's very passionate about economics and her students. That being said this women is Thanos, she is inevitable. Every business student has to take her no matter what. Study for hours a day every day and if you're lucky you'll pass with a 65.

Do not take this class with Donna, she is the worst professor I have ever had. I would even bet she will be the worst professor I will ever have. Attendance is mandatory, her lectures are incoherent and you are forced to copy down her work the entire class and then hand it in, so you have little information to study for the exams.

Donna believes that students have all the time in the world to study for tests and learn every variable mentioned in the class. If you love econ don't let her ruin it. If you want to study make sure you use the quizzes, but beware she may take them away when you need them the most. Don't take this course, save your sanity from Donnas clutches.

So for context I'm not an astounding student. That being said I knew this class would be hard going in. She doesn't make it easy to pass. The moodle quizzes are helpful, but she might screw you and take them down last min. Do yourself a favor and take this online somewhere else, because if you don't, the grim reaper is sure to come for your GPA.

Donna is inevitable to every business student. The 1012 course is unnecessarily difficult, It's 12 chapters, first 4 being econ1010 review. She has 3 exams every 3 chapters, and a cumulative final that relies heavily on the last 4 chapters. She keeps switching things up every semester. Don't take her, find this course somewhere else for sure.

How come she's in the position of teaching at the university?

Terrible do not take this class. Requires textbook and online software ($100+). Extremely passive-aggressive and cannot hold herself accountable for her own mistakes.

I took this class with Donna 4 years ago and it still keeps me up at night. Save yourself, take the class with literally anyone else. Your GPA will thank you

You can tell donna knows her stuff but she is horrible at teaching the content of the course. She does have a lot of opportunity to do decent in the class as you have unlimited attempts at the homework, and 5 attempts at each quiz as well as the questions in the quizzes closely resembling the exam questions.

This woman is a shitty proffessor she needs to be droped egotistic human prideful human beign and very bad ohh did i forget shes very bad at teaching shes so ass and needs to be dropped as early as possible cause its gonna affect other new students coming in its so shit as stupid drop this woman now!!!!!!!!

The most emails you will ever receive from a professor, with redundancies and mistakes in spelling & grammar, which sometimes occur in her notes. Her class diagrams are confusing and have more spelling mistakes. Avoid her course; she acts like the be-all and end-all.
