She had us do a lot of assignments. The research paper was the worst. I went to the writing center multiple times and she still failed my paper. It brought my B down to a C. Stay away from her!

she is mean and you can tell her favorites and she is always right and if she don't like you you know it and she thinks we know what she is thinkin

Awful teacher...The only English teacher that said my writing was average. Calls security down when things don't go her way. Tries to be cool but falls flat on her face. I highly suggest not taking her.

WORST TEACHER I'VE HAD AT THIS SCHOOL! she's not only a tough grader but will give bad grades w/o explanation as to why. i still came out with a B but i should have gotten an A based on my test grades. took her for an online class. she's about 3 weeks behind on grading and refuses to answer when students ask when to expect grades. STAY AWAY!

I took her class online. The work was resonable, but there was absolutely no guidance from her. I felt like I was teaching myself. If you don't use the text book, you won't learn anything. Grading is very slow. Information needed for the class is impossible to find. She doesn't respond to questions. Avoid this professor if possible.

completely useless teacher who thinks the world revolves around her, has absolutely no respect for students. That being said I took her online class and found her very often removed from or uninterested in being a teacher. I will never take another one of her classes and I reccomend the same for you.

Horrible Professor. She didn't show up half the time, and usually didn't inform on website when she wasn't showing up. Lots of book work and papers. I wrote a paper once, had another English teacher proof read and say it was well done and Doreen gave me a D. Totally an opinion grader, not a quality grader. DO NOT TAKE HER.

AWFUL teacher! Did not show up half the time and never posted it on the website when she would be absent. Very irresponsible. Very tough grader. I had an English teacher proof read my paper several times and Johnson still gave it a D. She has one specific way she wants to write papers and expects you to follow it, but doesn't guide you at all.

She was not very helpful. She never really answered questions, she would respond with "refer to the syllabus'. If i could find the answer there i wouldnt of bothered askinf her. Due dates on assignment were inconsistant. She would tell you have errors but did not tell what they were. Slow on responding to emails at times, sometimes four days later.

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with Doreen. I believe that she is a great person, but maybe not made out for the teaching profession. One of the downfalls was that she takes forever to upload grades. (The semester is over.. and she is just now uploading grades from the first month of school.) Take someone else!

Ms. Johnson was fun and entertaining in class but was absent often, missed 7 sessions of a class that met 34 times. Her grading of papers were so slow that it was time to turn in the next paper by the time we got them back. She was not at all clear on instruction leaving us to figure out the writing process ourselves. I advice everyone to avoid her

She was the worst teacher I have ever taken. This course was listed with a different teacher originally . Extremely tough grader without reason. She was very unclear on grading. Would just not show up for classes frequently and would try to put her inability to be a teacher on students. Would never recommend.

She is always late for class, and cancelled a lot of classes. It takes forever for her to get the grades on D2L and she grades tough. Also, she talks a lot about her health problems in class instead of the material. Most of the class hated her and some even went to the dean about her. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Will never take another class from Doreen Johnson. She ridicules her students in class, takes up class time for useless conversations and wasted my time, was a harsh grader, extremely hard to get a hold of (either through email or office hours), was always late to class, canceled many class periods, and was very unclear on assignments.

Ms. Johnson was a nice person but she would cancel class a lot. Also she takes at least a month to give back papers and more than a month for petty assignments. She gets off topic very easy and shows the class videos that aren't relevant to what we're learning, then blames the students for getting off topic. I didn't learn anything from her.

She is a slow, and harsh, grader. I love English, but I can't seem to get my grade above an 87% because she docks points for minor errors. She yells at students often. She is also slow. In class today, she told students she would maybe grade our papers after her nap. The papers are a rough draft we need before the next due date - in two days.

Facts about this class: lectures are her reading power points, she is always late, class is canceled all the time, she is unclear about expectations, her grading criteria changes frequently, you will find assignments hard to keep up with, she will often yell at class and become harsh, and she talks about her personal life in class - wasting time.

Horrible teacher and person in general. She did nothing to try and help me improve my grade causing me to get a undesirable grade. I hated her.

I can't believe I wasted $500+ on such a terrible class "taught" by such a terrible instructor. She gives no guidelines. She expects you to just know what she is thinking. Never answers emails about your paper. I even had other students emailing me asking what our paper is suppose to be on. Took over a month to get paper back. Her grading is nuts.

This was by far the worst teacher I've ever had. she never responded to emails she took months to grade things. She would say she has a couple papers to still grade and 1 month later still didn't grade papers. She had questions on the discussion forum that hadn't been read yet. She used excuses like I got home late or it was thundering outside.

Completely trash Professor. Will not show up for class at least once a week because of "health issues" or just because she didn't feel up to it. Paying hundreds of dollars for a class that you don't even attend because the professor doesn't show up is not what I signed up for.

yikes. I've always had really high scores in English, but this class was stressful. Completely bc she is sooo unorganized. We didn't have very many assignments, but for the ones we did have, the explanations were vague and she took foreverrr to grade. The best part was she was frequently late for a 50 minute class but this class made me hate my MWF

Terrible at answering emails. Very rude. Not very helpful at all. Very confusing on how she puts out assignments. Hard to keep track of what's due because she grades your stuff several weeks later. Don't really know your accurate grade until the end.

I hope anyone who is looking for a English teacher reads this. I came into the semester not have ever done anything in college. I fell behind and tried to explain myself and she didn't really care. I wasn't doing well and was in risk of failing. She doesn't care as a teacher and she was disorganized with her whole class set up. Never cared to help.

shes borderline senile none of the homework is layed out in an understandable manner, she has very biased grading systems, she doesnt seem to care about her students, she doesnt understand how to communicate homework to the class. she makes everything extreemley overcomplicated she is also pretentious af, demanding to be adressed instructor johnson

This instructor is the epitome of disorganization, aggression, and stress. She frequently takes sick days and returns even more irritable. Expect unclear deadlines and being scolded when seeking clarification. Prepare for your papers to be graded subjectively. AVOID TAKING THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS.

Doreen is absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. She takes sick days all of the time and rearranges her schedule but is not accommodating to anyone else's life. Sick? Not my problem. Lost a family member? Not my problem. She does not care about her students. To add on, subjective grader and a slow grader at that. Takes 2 months to grade.

While she may have prepared some others for real life, those are a VERY small percentage of her ratings. So what that says? Not a good professor. She was rude, always took sick days and seemed to be in a mood whenever it was time for class. She barely taught us and would make excuses when people asked her about their assignments. AVOID HER CLASS!!!

She genuinely made me suicidal during the last month of me having her class She committed several micro aggressions against her PoC, LGBTQ+, and Nerodivergent students. We turned in our first paper the second week of October, and she got it back to us three days before our final research paper was due. Avoid her at all costs, not worth the time

Took her class a few years ago, and it is sad to see that she is still a piece of poopoo. She constantly made excuses for her lack of motivation to grade our papers; often just taking until the start of a new paper to get back our old ones. Cancelled class many times, often just before class started. DO. NOT. TAKE!!!

Really bad. Does not teach anything, just a workload. Really really bad at grading. You're lucky if she gets back to you within a month. Took her online course so there was lots of emails between the two of us, but it took her multiple business days to get back to me. She always has something messed up when posting assignments.

This instructor was very unorganized. She has a lack of communication with her assignments. She also will make statements where she doesn't know what she's talking about. She discriminated against a disability I had based on stereotypes. She also can respond defensively. I do not recommend her to anyone who wants an understanding professor.

This is the worst instructor I have ever had. At week 12, she had only graded assignments to week 2. She gives subjective feedback. She takes a long time to respond to emails, and they are usually rude/condescending. This is a a basic intro class needed for grad. I have taken several advanced Eng classes, and none were as difficult.

Incredibly awful teacher. I still have things from months ago not graded. I understand things happen in personal lives, but you have a responsibility as a teacher, don't assign so many assignments if you as the teacher cant keep a schedule. She also takes forever to respond to emails, and dosent take responsibility.

I would never take a class from this professor again. She waits until near the end of the semester to grade things. She is very condescending to students in her critiques and emails. She also grades very subjectively.

She took forever to just grade things and then if it wasn't the way she liked then she would grade it low. It was so annoying and she took forever to just even grade things on time.

I am a very generous person when it comes to giving people grace, but Doreen is not. She does not allow errors in grammar, yet will send you an email trying to explain what you did wrong, while she spells at least one word wrong. She does not care for her students lives and will be biased if you have different political views. You've been warned.

She does not follow the grading laid out in her rubrics.She takes forever to grade assignments and even longer to get the audio feedback where she explains why she took so many points off of your assignment. She cancels her zoom session almost every week so she's tough to reach.If you email her she takes awhile to reply and is rude in her response.
