This teacher is amazing, if you have an education class you need to take, and shes an option I highly reccomend her. Covers all the material, Tests on what she covers, Not super easy, but she is so clear and understandable you can't fail unless you try.
she is a great teacher who really enjoys the subject.
I enjoyed this class. She definitely uses multi-sensory teaching style. We always had hands on projects to work on. I felt extremely comfortable in this class and knew just where I stood in the class at all times.
Amazing teacher always gives help with tests and projects, offers xtra time and points (yeah!) if needed. Asks students what we need to help ourselves I highly recommend her cause i'm gonna take her again you really can't fail unless u try.
She is a very nice teacher. She is interesting and the class with her is super easy.
this class was easy and she should have made it a challenge.
SHE IS JUST TOO EASY.
very hard teacher about attendance procedures from syllabus
A very fair teacher who isn't the tyep who is out to fail as many students as she can. She post no suprises in her class. She is fair. She answers e mails quickly, and she is always very helpful answering questions.

SOOO easy!!! Just do what she tells you!!
Dr. Vieitez is ver nice, and her classes are very easy to follow.
Not very clear on what she is teaching. Wasn't even sure if I was in the right class half of the time. Granted if you could understand her then she was easy and would add points to test grades to bring up the overall scores of the class. But I went through the class completely confused.
So easy, you wonder what the catch is. Uses lots of overheads and handouts. If you read the book and show up to her lectures (sleeping or not) you still take away all you need to. She answers emails with uncanny speed. Willing to let you have an extra chance too. You really have to try to not do well.
Dr. Vietez is the "model" teacher. She reminds me of what TV teachers look like. She is the nciest lady ever, a little unorganized, but she still gets the point across
Great teacher
SHARP LADY!
very nice teacher. does everything she can to help her students, and has very interesting stories to relate to her lessons.
Dr. Vietez is an awesome teacher. She gives outlines for her lectures and always tells you what you need to know for tests. Her homework assignments are very specific - you know what you need for an A. She is one of the nicest people I have ever met, and will help you in any way she can.
She is a wonderful teacher. Very helpful and understanding
really good teacher! very helpful and nice!
EXCEPTIONAL CHILD: awesome class/Mrs. V is helpful & funny/lots of in-class activites to reinforce principals and methods/she allows for good discussion and questions within the class- i find this very helpful in learning!/wonderfully smart and 'together' woman!
shes aight
She is a very easy teacher and she is understanding.. if you are torn between her and Kraus I would take her because she is much easier and nicer... I like her a lot and I did enjoy her class... she might not be the most fun teacher but whatever shes easy and thats all i care about...
No homework! except some tests and usually one large project!
I took educ 101 and 240. The work was really easy, but I had some issues going at the time, and missed quite a few classes. Just show up and you'll do fine.
She is a very good teacher and very fair. She hands out note outlines and tells you exactly what she wants you to do. Hardly any homework, only about 2 papers all semester. I recommend her to all education students
GREAT TEAHCER!!!! Very helpful!! Passionate, understanding, and makes class fun. TAKE HER!!!!
Taking education classes at JJC? Take Doreen Vietez & Alice Fritz whenever you can. That is all. 2 of the best teachers in Joliet.
She is the best teacher at JJC! She wants you to be succesful so she helps you. She is available during office hours which is great! Her notes are very clear, a few homework assignments but very easy. Study the study guides & you will get A's in your test! No midterm, only 3 exams.
She may be a good in classroom teacher, but when it comes to online she is very unclear and creates a lot of nonsense/busy work. I feel I have not learned any useful information. I enjoy Psyc but this class feels to be a waste of time and money. I do not recommend this class unless it is required, like it was for me.
This is an instructor who wants her students to do well. She is extremely accommodating. Note guides, access to Power Points and in-class activities to reinforce lessons. Almost dropped this class because of group project, glad I didn't. Follow the rubric and you will do well.
She is very nice..def take her! This class was not hard at all. She makes things very clear and will do her best to help you pass for sureee
I had her for Intro to Ed. and Educational Psych this semester. She is an awesome teacher and I would definitely take one of her classes again. As a professor she really cares about her students. She is really informative and knows her stuff. Any questions you have she will gladly answer and clarify for you. Moderately easy grader. GREAT teacher!
All tests are easy. Questions are right out of the book or powerpoint notes. Barely any homework. VERY VERY easy grader. Also took her for EDUC 103/104 and PYSC 210...Very easy classes. Right out of the book teaching. EASY B!!!!!!
She is an amazing teacher and she really does want her students to do well. Interactive teaching and powerpoints take up the majority and she has plenty of stories to help you understand the topic.
I absolutely hate Dr. Vieitez. I had issues with my cooperating teacher from the start and Dr. Vieitez was aware. She said she would help but didn't do anything to make it better. I would leave after the clinical and cry every day because of my coop teacher. I ended up with a "C" in the course. I changed my major because of this!
Had ever for psych 102, and was genrally pleased. She has multiple discussion boards and quizes can be quite difficult. Her unit plan or project is very hard, and time consuming. Dont do like me a cram it all within a few days. She sets guidelines of when each section should be completed and you should follow them. Overall, shes average.
I took Psych 210 online. This prof is very clear in what she wants done on assignments. There were learning objectives every week and one could get easily overwhelmed. However, the prof. is always willing to help.
Learning objectives every week (2000 words to be typed towards 10 or less questions to be exact). Overwhelming load of work even if it is an 3 credit online course (should be a 5 credit course). Do not take if you have already have a load of classes to do.
I took this class online. She did not respond to emails for weeks at a time. A lot of work- very overwhelming at times. Grades hard, never got a perfect 10/10 for a 2000 word essay due every single week worth 10 POINTS. A lot of busy work and does not grade until very last minute. Never again will I take a class from her. Worst professor this far.
Took this class online. Like others have said, a lot of useless busy work that should count for more than 3 credits. Takes a long time to grade and gives little to no feedback. I would not take a class with her again. WAY too much work!
This class is mainly discussion, and the only "homework" is through ICampus. This class is very pleasant because she gives her students the chance to share personal stories related to the course material, and she also shares her own stories. Since the tests are online she allowed our class to take them together. Get the textbook you need it for HW.
She is such a very patient, forgiving and helpful lady. She goes over PowerPoints a lot, but she tells tons of stories, shows videos and the assignments never felt too difficult. Only somewhat tough part was tests, but she goes over things very thoroughly, so just pay attention. Plus, she's always willing to help and I would highly recommend her.
Like others have said - she gives a LOT of busy work for a 101 online class and it was all monotonous. Discussion posts and answering 10 questions with a word total of 2000, rinse and repeat. I didn't feel like I learned much at all. I'm not even sure if she graded my work. Perhaps she's better in person but I would personally never take her again.
I guess everyone at JJC who teaches Psyc follows the same plan. Answer 35-40 essay questions about each chapter using no less than 6,000 words. Also, heavy on discussion boards and computer lab. Lots of busy work, very little feedback from the teacher. You are basically teaching yourself. Get ready to read a ton and write a ton. Unfortunate.
She is an amazing professor. She really cares for her students and wants to see them be successful. She answers questions on ICampus very quickly. Her assignments are very straight forward and easy to score an A on as long as you include every question. The tests are lengthy but easy as well. They come straight from homework assignments.
She wasn't my absolute favorite but her PSYC210 online class was very easy. Discussion board every week. Posts due on a Wednesday and replies due on a Sunday. 3 quizzes due almost every other Sunday. It got annoying but they were easy if you looked up answers in the online book. Only 3 (2 attempts/each) untimed exams. Had to raise "Virtual Child".
Professor Vieitez was ok. Her lectures got boring sometimes. I feel like I had to ask her the same question multiple times to get a clear answer. Only 3 tests. On 1 you could use a notecard. Lectures were based off of powerpoint with fill-in note guides. Two group projects. 25 hour of school observation needed and a paper was required at the end.
most boring professor I've ever taken. Honestly could've done so much better in the class but i just couldn't pay attention. I felt that the test were difficult because her study guides weren't even useful. Big projects she gives are what pretty much saved me and helped me pass, barely.
Although the class was very easy, I did not learn much. During class we would only us powerpoint to take notes. Not a very interesting class, but she was very nice and caring about her students. Tons of extra credit.
I was very disappointed with this professor because she could have done so much more with the class. It was very boring and a lot of lecture. She also adds grades without telling us about the assignment or that it was graded. Very passive aggressive and will mark you absent for leaving even 10 minutes early.
She made the material very easy to understand and is very enthusiastic about the subject she teaches. There are lots of opportunities for extra credit and she is so caring and understanding when it comes to making up missed assignments. Overall an amazing teacher, very highly recommended!
Easy A, sweet woman, but poor teacher. Push-over. Many topics made boring by reading from powerpoint. When talking she is not clear at all. Doesn't differentiate btwn terms o offer memorization tricks. Basically, doesn't teach, just tells. Gives in to dumb things bad students say. Online tests, powerpoints are all online. attendance taken. NO BOOK.
Professor Vieitez does not teach. Her notes are hard to follow, she never repeats herself or pauses on a slide, so its hard to get notes down. Her study guides have no material on them that are also on the test, and its just a waste of my time sitting in class. She seems very cold when reaching out to her via email, and overall was not a good fit
I was disappointed because this class could of been so interesting and helpful but instead it was the complete opposite. The notes don't match the test at all, her study guides aren't in order of the powerpoints very hard to find, she never gets back to you with emails.
Clear and direct instructions and guidelines throughout course. Prompt responses from professor when emailing. Understanding and realistic, Im thankful this was the first professor I had going back to college.
Took this as an online course. The online textbook and flashcards helped a ton when taking this course. Weekly discussion boards and quizzes. Put the effort in and this is an easy A. Professor V. helps you understand the material and feel prepared. Would take another course with her.
Lecture not her strong suit, not engaging. Assignments fairly straight forward and offers extra credit opportunities. Exams often include concepts not included in textbook or lectures. Seems she based them on an older book and not updated tests, handouts, or PowerPoints. Responds quickly to email, and thoroughly. Online course better quality.
I had her in person and on line. She is a much better in person teacher. She is very slow to respond to emails. You don't really need the books for any of her classes. She give extra credit and guided notes. Most home work is projects that she always lets you work with a partner or two. Tests are difficult! They are all applied knowledge testing.
I have had this Professor for several classes. She is very fair and helpful. You can submit assignments ahead of time for review. There is no reason not to walk away with an A or B in her class. There is a lot of reading and the tests are difficult. Usually multiple choice and short answer. She has a teachers heart. I do recommend her classes.
Professor Vieitez was a great professor. Her class was easy to pass because I studied for tests and did all of the homework and extra credit she gave. She responded quick to my emails. If you stay on track you will pass.
I took her for Child Development. It was an online class but she's a fair grader and the assignments are actually engaging to do. I enjoy her way of teaching and will make sure to recommend her to my friends. 10/10 class.
She is very easy to get ahold of and gives great feedback. The workload is extremely light compared to my other courses and she is very open to working with students to help them succeed.
Pretty easy class. Lots of busy work but it's an easy A for it. Test are hard but most of them are online. Honestly not much else to say about her. She is one of the better teachers for psych101.
She was a good professor who gave detail feedback on work. There were two big assignments that she grades in detail. Other than those projects this class is easy and not a lot of work.
SO SO SO EASY!!! I ended with a 103 percent in this class by barely trying. GPA booster right here. Everything is through redshelf or whatever that is so you can find if not all, most answers online. Otherwise, homework questions are seriously like "what would you say to your friend if they were sad" in a 50 word response. Wish i could take again.
Professor Vieitez is a very kind professor who wants to help. This class had many assignments but were all similarly structured and easy to do. Everything was structured very well on canvas and was easy to navigate. Tests don't always reflect what was learned/presented in the modules, but are not too difficult to do. Accessible outside of class.
The most boring class I have taken in years, there is barely interaction she does not know how to make class interesting. Very disappointed because I was looking forward to this class.
She is such a caring professor and will help if you need. However, her voice is so calming you may get bored fast. Just make sure you take notes and study for exams. If you do bad on exams, projects will help boost your grade. All around a great professor. I would recommend.
I have taken Prof. Vieitez's classes 3 times during my academic career at JJC. She is absolutely wonderful, I cannot explain the kindness she exhibits. She is understanding, intelligent in her profession, and super sweet. I will definitely miss her the most. PLEASE take her class, do not miss out on an amazing professor.
The tests were hard, but there are plenty of other assignments if tests aren't your strong suit. She works w/ students that aren't able to turn stuff in on time. It felt like she was doing her best to help students achieve in her class by providing extra credit, and side assignments that help boost grades. Taking her again for EDUC 120 & 240
Would never take this professor again. An extreme amount of homework a week, which was not easy homework. Extremely lengthy assignments. Assigned a really long project for the end of the class but also continued giving the mass amount of homework she was giving the whole time. Horrible grader, would say my work was excellent, would got points off
This class was easy as long as you kept up with the assignments. I never felt like there was too much work and I thought her grading was fair. I would advise other students to read the textbook because it helps with quizzes. Try working with a partner on the last project because its a lot of work. Assignments don't open until the week they are due.
This professor was so kind and clearly cared about her students. The exams are easy as long as you come to class. Most of the homework assignments are done in class. There are a couple of projects, but they are easy and straightforward and can be done with a partner (which I recommend). She is knowledgeable and answers questions quickly.
The class was straightforward enough and the expectations were clear. The professor responds quickly and gives good feedback on assignments. The class had some busy work and longer assignments, but overall it was easy enough if you read the textbook. The technology integration assignments get easier as you do them more. Extra credit is available.
This Professor Did not care for her students outside of the classroom or in the classroom. The professor was a tough grader and provided no feedback on all assignments. This professor did not have any office hours for students to ask questions for assignments. I would not recommend this professor to anyone, unless you need it for credit.
Super sweet and gives really good lectures. She doesn't respond to emails right away, though. The book wasn't even mandatory to read since she goes over everything in her PowerPoint slides. Super fun class, especially if you are passionate about teaching! (Just get ready for a ton of note packets!)
The tests are brutal. There was a ton of busy homework, and her lectures made me want to fall asleep. She is a super sweet professor but doesn't know how to teach. Each lecture was her reading off anything and everything on a 40+ page PowerPoint. Studying for her tests is very difficult since her study guides are quite hefty and confusing.
honestly she would just blab a lot of information out at once and expected you to remember everything her class was very boring and nothing sticks if your just getting blabbed at so test were very difficult.
Professor Vietiez is kind but an ineffective teacher. Her delivery of notes, often just reading them, hinders understanding. Despite thorough studying, achieving an A is difficult, especially w/ the problematic multiple-choice questions. Delayed grading and lack of proactive feedback also impede learning. Her rules on electronics are not enforced.
Study EVERYTHING for tests! I didn't realize how much the tests would affect my grade till too late. They were kinda difficult. Lectures are so boring I often found myself falling asleep. She is so incredibly sweet though. Ask her direct questions and she provides good answers. Also brings good personal experience examples to class. She's alright!
She was very kind and helpful but her classes were very boring and hard to get through. Tests were difficult so study all the information given to you.
I have taken a class with her online and in person; haven't enjoyed either one. Her lectures are long and never correlate to the notes or tests. She is an inconsistent grader, my biggest issue with her is that she will take off massive amounts of points and not even say why, just -10 points. This is very frustrating. Wouldn't recommend.
It's possible to get an A in this class, even easy, if you DO THE HOMEWORK AND READINGS! She's not a harsh grader, just follow instructions and understand the concept. The exams are hard so make sure you study. And there is a lot of homework, so make sure you have the time to do it. But as long as you study, do the work, getting an A is easy.
Very nice and sweet. The lectures get very boring. Her tests can be very hard; some questions were never spoken about in class, so make sure you go over the powerpoints on your own time. She also accuses of AI, when no AI was used. Overall, if you need the class, it's fine, but be prepared to learn a significant amount of information on your own.
