always tries to help your grade out. awesome teacher.
She wants everybody to do well. She gives Xtra credit if you come to all her classes and she gives partial credit on the department exams. There's only 2 tests and a few quizzes that only count if they help your grade.

She is easy, I think..how hard can one be while teaching a 9th grade math course to college kids???
Easy teacher... really tries to help you understand the material, and helps your grade out any way she can.
Fabulous teacher. even if you HATE math, she wil help you understand it. Very clear, and very helpful.
She was very helpful and I hate math so I needed it
nice teacher, quite boring of a class if you already know the stuff. if you pay attention, youl do great.
Awesome teacher! Always excited about math and extremely peppy. Goes over examples a million times until everyone understands! A must take!
SHE IS THE MOST HELPFUL TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN @ TEMPLE UNIVERSITY. HER GOAL IS FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND...NOT FAIL!!!!
Nice teacher, always willing to help. Very clear about what was expected of you. I recommend taking her class.
very helpful and nice. great communication skills. jokes alot and teahes to the best of her abilities. take this class, trust me you will learn a lot even though it math... i did.
very nice lady. good teacher and helpful.
I LOVE HER! She was so sweet and helpful. She gives you some points if you try, 3 if you go to every class on the final grade not even averaged into tests! Really the best math teacher I've ever had.
Took her math class ALONG time ago. GREAT teacher, VERY nice person, will help you out
as much as i hate math class...she was alright.
What a body!!! Worth going to class just to look at this babe!
She is a doll! Explains material very well and is straightforward about the tests.
explains material well. straightforward about tests.
DOREEN IS AN AMAZING TEACHER! I HAD MATH 65 WITH HER...IT WAS THE BEST CLASS I HAVE EVER HAD HERE AT TEMPLE! I WISH SHE WAS MY TEACHER FOR EVERYTHING!!! I MISS HER A LOT!
She is a great professor. She cares about you learning and will not try to trick you on the tests. You will know what you need to know before the exam. She is also pretty fun and seems to really like her job.
I was so afraid to take this class. I hadn't taken a math class since Highschool 14 yrs ago, and I wasn't that good then. Had it not been for her I might have remained aprehensive about my ability. She is truly a caring, and inspiring professor. It was a privelage to be a student in her class. She goes above and beyond to help her students!
one of my favorite teachers at temple. i have had her twice now and somehow is able to math understandable to me. she is always willing to help out when students don't understand. there should be more ms. wald's out there.
Extremely good professor, I attained a lot of information after a horrible math experience in the prior semester. Offers review tests, extra credit, and you don't HAVE to show up.
She is a cool teacher, extremely nice and helpful. She does talk really fast and it is a little hard to understand the way she teaches the math but the math is easy enough to understand it on your own. She also gives you reviews for the tests which are almost identical to the tests. Tests are easy, extra credit was available. Bottom line, EASY A
Ms. Wald is definitely one of the better math professors at Temple. She'll go out of her way to help you if you're lost, she's very laid back especially for a summer class and you can negotiate better grades with her quite easily. Overall great professor!!
She's really nice and very helpful, if you need it. You have to go to class, but she doesn't really pay attention to you. Use it as a study hall if you wish. Her tests are fair. Easy course. "Shapes and Colors"
Ms. Wald is a horrible math teacher. She shows the wrong way to do a problem before teaching the proper method. She doesn't explain anything clearly. I learned a lot more in high school math. If you take this course plan to use the MSRC, because its very difficult to learn from someone who talks to the board while teaching. Our entire class sleeps.
She was a good teacher. Everyday in class we go over homework problems that people have questions on, followed by going over stuff in the text book. She does not check homework, so you just do what you think you need to do in order to get the information. She does take attendance though, so showing up is a big part in doing well.
Teacher is the kindest lady on the planet. She is considerate about the class's needs and is good at giving easy to follow solving methods. I didn't do the homework but followed along in class and did the test reviews and ended with an A- for the year. Just show up and take notes and you'll be good for at least a B+ and a firm grasp on the topic.
Basically you're good at high school algebra, u'll have no problem at all and feel boring in her class. But she take attendents.
SOOO NICE. loved her! the class is easy but if you do struggle (as many do), she won't move on unless she feels everyone gets it. really wants her students to do well, teaches things in the simplest way possible. quizzes are easy, will give EC if lots of people do bad. bonus-- speaks english.
If you put in the effort to understand each section, you will be fine in her class. Weekly quizzes are normally take-homes and easy. Pay attention and take good notes (don't skip her class). Attendance is mandatory anyway. She's a genuinely nice and kind lady and wants her students to do well and often is lenient with taking off points duringtests
Very nice lady. Good teacher, she tends to talk fast, but warns you to let her know if she is going to fast. The quizzes were all take home. I didn't do well in the class because I am just terrible at math, but if you listen and pay attention in class you should do well.
Professor Wald is a really nice lady. She wants you to pass her class. Shes always really nice. Most of her quizzes are take homes and she does alot to help you pass. If your bad at math you should defenitely take her for college algebra.
a nice lady, class is not that hard if you know basic math. students should really give her some respect..
She's a nice lady, but goes way too fast. She doesn't give ample time to finish one problem. I didn't like her. I dont recommend her at all.
Thanks to her curved grades I got a C, it was a 120 student lecture hall, I wish I would of took the 30 student section at Ambler, you pretty much teach it to yourself all semester which can be hard if you're not good at math, attendance not mandatory, seems like a nice woman but with the largeness of class I didn't get the one-on-one attention.
Really nice teacher. She does go a little fast sometimes but that's just because she tries to give as many examples as possible. If you ask her to explain she does it instantly. Also, most of the quizzes she gives are TAKE-HOME instead of in-class like other teachers. Try to take her for Algebra as she is one of the best teachers in that subject!
She is an extremely nice professor. She does go fast with her lessons. The material is easy but I learned a lot since there were different ways of approaching problems. Huge lecture class. Annoying if you come a little late and have to squeeze pass students to sit down. The four exams are easy, the last one is cumulative.
She is super nice, but overall is a horrible teacher. Speaks extremely fast and runs through info very rapidly. Everyone in the class were taking it two times because math is already difficult, but trying to cram another lecture into two minutes doesn't help very much either. Very friendly, but horrible teacher.
Easy teacher. Kinda confusing but the class is easy to learn on your own. Do the study guides given and it's an easy A. Go to class for quizzes. They help your grade if your on the verge of a grade like B to B+ etc.
Nice teacher, bad at teaching. She speaks incredibly fast, and tries to cram in "one more thing" with two minutes left on the clock. She wants you to ask questions then says you guys should know this and doesn't review it! Would not recommend taking her.
She is honestly one of the best math teachers I have ever had! I recommend her 100%. She is very clear and helpful. She also explains how to solve problems in many different ways in order to help you find what is best for you.
Doreen Wald is the nicest! She is willing to help any student outside of class, and in class she always asks if anyone has questions or needs her to repeat anything. Go to class and you will do well. The class would be better if it had less people, but she knows that and does the best she can. I enjoy her class!
Very nice. Very helpful. Accomodating. May be a bit confusing if NEVER taken algebra, but overall very good.
Great professor! Won't move on until she feels the class understands the concepts. Test are straightforward, no tricks!
She is cute, and the class was easy.I would recommend taking her.
The objective of this course is to ensure that future teachers have a strong conceptual understanding of mathematical content. We should be able to understand the thinking process of the student, and ensure that we give credit where it is due, and not promote mathematical misconceptions. I wouldnt say that she is consistent with the objectives.
a magnificent teacher , she so cute and she's ready to help ant students . just show up
Lessons are more complex than they should be, but if you copy down the notes EXACTLY, that's how her tests are. They are set up EXACTLY the same, but with just different numbers and people. Same with her final - it's based on problems that were on the tests. Hold onto them! Don't buy the textbook She provides review sessions and individual tutoring
I loved Professor Wald! She is so bubbly and wants all her students to do well! She is great at explaining math problems and is always making sure the class is on the same page. She constantly goes over problems on the board from homework and goes over all the quizzes and tests! Awesome teacher hands down
Ms. Wald was an ok prof. Took her for Math 701 in the summer so it was quick. I don't think it was best for her to teach a summer class she goes really fast. Unless you have some background knowledge for math, don't take her, because sometimes things will be confusing. That being said, I'd take her again knowing what to expect because she's nice.
The structure of the class is pretty straight forward, lecture Mon-Thurs, small quiz on Friday. My failure was my own fault, I didn't come to class and I didn't stud. If you even make half an effort, you'll be fine. As far as Wald, herself, I think she goes way to fast to understand. She cares morabout getting thru the material than teaching it.
Okay, so Doreen is a tad crazy. However, she is very nice and tries to help her students as best as she can. She tends to not know how to explain herself very well so you just have to see how she does something and MEMORIZE. You will be confused as ever in this class, but if you go to office hours before the tests you will be fine.
Not helpful or concerned
I had her for Intro To Numbers And Figures. Very easy if you're good at getting the concepts quickly. I barely pay attention and don't do the homework and I have an A. Lectures are very boring. All we do is watch her do math problems. I may not like her teaching style but she does give you everything that you need to pass, including tutoring and a 2 day review before the tests.
Professor Wald is very sweet and is a great professor. She goes at a decent pace. There are three exams and a final. She lets you keep your exams and gives you a review for each. Her reviews are harder than the tests. You don't need to buy the book and attendance is necessary. It was my easiest class of the semester and I ended with over a 100%.
Good professor! very sweet! As an international student, I really like her Math class. Caring every students in her classroom!
It's a new 701 class as she keeps saying and tries group work but is stuck in her old lecturing ways. She just talks and talks and assigns lots of MyMathLab assignments and barely teaches. She messes up with what she says and you end up getting even more confused. Pulls exams from Mymathlab and it sucks bc you gotta be so specific with your answers
Professor Wald is very sweet and caring. Just make sure you show up to all her lectures. There are 3 tests and a final. She does a review before each tests and if you study those review you should pass.
Prof Wald is one of the best teachers I've ever had at Temple. I took college algebra for the second time with her and the class was a breeze because of how great of a teacher she is. Beware of other teachers for this course, I got a D before and now with Wald I'm getting an A. TAKE HER!!! Her quizzes are very easy and she teaches VERY well.
One of the easiest classes ever! Mandatory attendance but only 3 exams and a final. I didn't need the textbook because she writes all the important points down. She also curves almost all exams so most students can get a passing grade. If you score high enough, then you will get over 100 with the extra points.
this was by far my easiest class. she gives reviews for all her tests and takes 2 classes to complete with us. You don't have to buy the textbook or do the assignments. if you miss something in class, you can take pictures of her notes after class. It's honestly so easy that you could do hw or watch Netflix in her class and still get an A.
I don't understand what 99% of these reviews are saying. This class is NOT easy. Do not expect to just show up and pass. She doesn't check hw but she only has 3 tests & a final, if you don't do well on those... Her tests requirements are very specific, she teaches very fast be sure to keep up! She is kind but if you aren't good at math, Good luck!
You will be graded solely on 3 tests and attendance so I recommended you go to class if you aren't great at math. She just does math problems under the projector for an hour and twenty minutes using the most complicated methods to solve the easiest problems. Very boring and not very understanding. Only used textbook for optional practice problems.
With only 3 tests, a final, and your attendance that factors into your grade, it's extremely easy to not do well. She's more concerned about getting through the material than getting you to understand. The concepts are easy, but the way she wants you to do things is not. Class is boring and hard to pay attention to. This class gave me anxiety.
The concepts aren't hard but what she wants for your work is very specific, she'll take off points for every little thing. A nice person but not a very good teacher. She just does problems from the textbook for an hour and 20 mins so good luck trying to pay attention in class.
She doesn't know how to teach. Her class is only solving exercises. She doesn't accept you to think in another way on test, you have to solve the problems the way she shows in class. Attendance is 10% of the grade. Unfortunately she is the only professor teaching this class, so my advise is to just do things on her way to get a good grade.
Although there is no text book, we used MyMathLab ($$$). It was not difficult to use however, the assignments took quite some time to get through. You have to be on top of it and not fall behind. H.W. is a must, attendance and she only gave 4 test (drops lowest grade) which were the same questions from quizzes from MyMathLab. I enjoyed her class.
Professor Wald is nice & knows her subject. The problem is her actual teaching. Too many times she would stop mid problem and change the way she was doing the problem, which made it difficult to follow. She does examples in class but doesn't necessarily breakdown the steps needed for each problem type. Her style makes it difficult to pass.
Basically the professor is really nice and if you're willing to work hard, she's willing to work with you. The material is difficult and the set up of the classroom make it difficult so get ready to work hard and put in extra work!
She taught simple concepts in overly-complicated ways. Even my tutors couldn't understand why she was teaching it the way she was. Read off lecture slides and barely did things step-by-step, which I feel like that's how math should be, not lecture form. Homeworks and attendance help kept my grade up. Wouldn't take her again. Too unorganized.
she sucks
Professor Wald is a very caring and helpful woman. Although the class is a lecture and not as hands on as I hoped, she made sure that she explained everything thoroughly and showed her work when performing example problems. I went to her office hours once and she was very helpful and made sure I was doing okay in and outside of class.
Professor Wald is the nicest woman! She really cares about her students. She is a little scatter brained in her explanations but will always repeat herself until you understand. Personally, My Math Lab (home work program that you must buy) fills in any gaps she leaves. Very helpful resource. Lots of homework but drops lowest test grade for hw grade
Very nice lady but she explains these concepts in such complicated and strange ways that sometimes she even confuses herself. If you need tutoring you have to go to the ones she tells you, other tutors won't be able to help you. Despite this, if you're struggling with something she will definitely help you if you ask her.
She's a nice person but is terrible at teaching. Very scatterbrained and explains simple concepts in a very complicated way. She makes you work in groups before explaining the material, which takes away class time from actually being taught the material.
Professor Wald is a total gem and sweetheart, she is very caring for her students and I couldn't have asked for a better gen ed math teacher in my life. She takes out the lowest test grade for the final grade. The math lab is annoying, but thats just how math is. Overall amazing professor
Shes the nicest person, she genuinely cares about what shes doing. As a professor, shes not the best. Shes really confusing & overexplains so much. The way she teaches is just really confusing. I didnt enjoy this class at all because I was so frustrated and confused
prof wald is really sweet, don't get me wrong, but she has a habit of talking in circles and overcomplicating concepts. the class weighs heavily on self-teaching via homework or by relying on classmates in breakout rooms, but if you have a question she'll take the time to answer it
Such a sweet and genuine lady. She makes sure everyone understands the topic, but tends to overcomplicate small things. You need the textbook and she expects it by the first couple classes, but you use it all the time. The TA's were really sweet as well and were really helpful.
Professor Wald is a super nice lady. She makes some topics more confusing than they need to be, but will explain over and over again if you need. She will work with you and her TAs were nice. Class is a little boring but the reviews and feedback she gives on tests help you better understand your mistakes. Homework each week, 3 tests, and final exam
I did not like her at all and ended up dropping her class bc she annoyed me so much. Tough grader and not very understanding.
Decent amount of homework, I didn't realize how low level the math I took was so I didn't really go to class I just did the work and tests. But she was very open to you asking questions.
Doreen is a very nice professor. She is willing to make accommodations and wants to see her students succeed. Drops your lowest test score, and will replace with a homework grade in place. The class is an easy A, but be aware that this class is homework heavy!
Professor Wald is a sweet woman. She is a bit ditsy, but she is very well-rounded in her subject and I learned a lot from her. She is always accessible outside of class, which was nice. She has four tests and drops the lowest one which really helps. Lots of homework and MML was expensive, but that's how most math classes go I assume.
I dont know why people are being so nice she is super super hard and doesn't explain material well at all. She stresses me out and teaches the content in ways I've never seen before. Study hard.
Mrs. Doreen was such a great instructor! She was always available outside classes in the office hours, always ready to answer questions and she always made sure that everyone understood classes. A 5/5 instructor.
