Very organized and detailed in lectures. Very easy going, and student friendly
Enthusiastic, direct teaching style.
If you know your stuff, you'll do fine in her class.
She was a very good teacher. She was very clear in her teachings.
Professor Danko was the best prof I have ever had. Not only did she have a
Very easy,
Good Prof. Teaches on a general level, does not assume everyone is an acct major
I loved this class! I only wish I would be able to have Dori again as a prof.

Dori is awesome. She's very helpful and just an all around great prof to have.
she is a good teacher, nice, but gives some hard tests and many projects.........
acc sucks, she takes notes fast, but i would recomend her. pretty cool
Take this prof if you can. She is the best.
tests very hard, many projects, also hard. very nice, but hard class
She's great I had her 2 semesters in a row what a treat to wake up to every morn
Proff is nice, Act is still hard. Expectations are too high for all Act classes.
This class is really really hard! I don't think she makes it any better....
Spreadsheets took a LONG time to do! Goes through lectures fast.
hard tests, easy quizes, projects long - not many, very helpful when you ask
Class was challenging, but she is very helpful!

WONDERFUL Prof!!! Great examples and very clear!
A great person to have to go to class and see. Very nice.
Good examples, always blesses a sneeze, great person if accounting is new to you
Hard class, but she makes it fun... uses real world examples and very friendly!

exams can be tough...very helpful...highly recommend
Best Business or Accounting teacher out-there, def. a university best!

Nice Lady! Great teacher, tests are not easy but she is a fun prof
She is a great professor and if you sneeze you will always be blessed!
Very sweet lady, HARD TEST if you don't study. STUDY AND RESTUDY!! goto class.
Wonderful prof. Take her for 212, your degree AND gpa will thank you
The Best Prof. for 212! Very personable and willing to help any way she can.
Great professor - Had her twice - Very pretty and an even more beautiful mind!!
Definetely take Dori, she is the BEST!!!!!
Great teacher
Explains problems well, step-by-step; tests hard, read book and how to do probs
Had Mrs. Danko for 212 and decided to go into accounting!
Students love her because she causes GRADE INFLATION!! Easy A, I guess.
Very nice. Attractive woman. Nice, takes time out for 1 on 1 help.
Moves quickly, but gets to the point and tell's you waht to study for.
Awesome ACC teacher, very clear, take her at all costs! Shes attractive too!
Wouldn't mind learning a little extra credit
Great Prof, makes concepts VERY clear, us non-majors love her!
Dori is incredible...very clear and fun, makes a tough class easier
Awesome Prof. Definitely take for 212
Bottom line there is no better prof for accounting then Danko.
Best teacher I've ever had at GVSU. Makes class fun and cares about students.
She kicks ass
Tells you exactly what to study, tests hard, homework not graded on accuracy
best acc prof there is...have to study lots though!
She was, is, and always will be one of the best. Don't graduate w/o taking Dori!
the best accounting class I've ever had, clear, consistent & extremely helpful
Great professor. Her notes are all that you need. She is more than willing to help her students and although tests are challenging, she really wants you to succeed
best acc prof there is. sweetest lady ever
Dori is great
I hate accounting but I like her class, very helpful and she presents material so its easy to understand..great prof!
She's a good prof, take her if you have a chance. Just be ready to study.
EASY class, but moves at a very slow pace..only got through half the chapters other classes did, so dont take if an accounting major
great prof! tests are challenging, but she makes class fun. teaches the class clearly and is very willing to help students with homework etc. take her if you can get her, she's one of the best.
Don't get me wrong, she's really nice. If you memorize the book, you will be fine. I didn't retain anything.
Good professor, very friendly. Plus she's easy on the eyes!
Great Prof, hard class. LOTS OF HOMEWORK AND TOUGH TESTS/FINALS.
Dori explaines almost everything clearly (she does not make her students feel STUPID when asking a question). She's just a nice person altogether!
Dori is a GREAT teacher! I would recommend to everyone. Lots of homework, but she explains very well and is always willing to help. She is a very nice lady.
She is a really great prof and she always makes herslf assessable to her students
Dori is an incredible prof. If you need accounting, try to get into her classes, you will learn so much! Very clear, and super nice.
ACC is difficult all in its own, but Dori explains it pretty well. Test are a little hard, but do the HW and its an easy 50pts. helps your grade a lot
Accounting can be a difficult class; she can be very helpful but moves quite fast. Read teh book and do all the homework asignments. Get a tutor or go to the accounting tutor lab.
Accounting is a HARD subject. Dori is a really wonderful lady, very nice and helpful. It doesn't mean that her class is easy though. Homework and book reading is a MUST in this class.
Very nice prof makes a dificult class a lil easier very very helpful the grading scales makes it possible to do well on test Do all HW and quizzes cuz they help and go to class or you will be left behind
She is nice. MSU fan and hates U of M. A little hyperactive and sounds like a teenager.
She is a really nice lady. She actually teaches the class. She doesn't use power point-she actually writes on the board. She gives really good examples and will answer any questions that you have.
Energitic teacher that keeps your attention.Shes very helpful when it comes to clearing up confusion.Although she gives a lot of homework.
Dori did an excellent job of teaching accounting. Her enthusiasm was top knotch every day and she was very helpful with any problems I had. If you want a prof. who teaches well then she is the one for you!
One of my favorite professors at Grand Valley!! Have to work for your grade, but very helpful and fair!
Nice lady...she stands in front of the board when she is writing examples so you cant see them. Tests are fairly easy. usually 15 multiple choice and 2 problems. Homework almost every week and a quize every two weeks.
Tough class but she teaches it well. Must read the book and do homework to understand what's going on! Very helpful if you ask.
Dori is not bad, but compared to some of the other ACC 212 teachers she is not that great. Often she is not clear on her lectures and tends to babble. Also she reviews the homework which takes an entire day, which is fairly useless.
She makes a nasty subject easy! She tells you everything you need to know and explains very thoroughly. Excellent insructor, just go to class, do the homework, everything has to do with the chapter before, so you have to stay on your toes. Take Her!!!
Doesn't give a lot of examples in class BEFORE homework is due but goes over it afterwards. You either have to just get it or read the book...otherwise you're lost.
Dori Danko is one of the best profs I have had! She is cheerfull and makes class interesting. You really need to read the book and do you homework, but then again you have to do that for every class. Grades some tests on a curve, drops worst quiz score.
She is a really nice professor. I only say she is unhelpful, not because she is unwilling, but because i did not think she knew non profit acctng well. Probably GREAT in other classes
Excellent teacher
She's awesome. Nicest lady ever. A breath of fresh air in the GVSU ACC Dept
What can I say? Dori is great at waht she does. Goes a lot farther than most profs would. She will help you in anyway and encourages to attend tourting with her if you need it. Take Her :)
Dori is awesome!! She is so nice, helpful and clear about whats on test and quizzes. She moves fast but just keep up on the homework like any acct class and youll get an A.
I think she is the best prof I have had a grand valley. The subject is tough but i think she explains everything pretty well. Do the homework and keep up on everything and you will do fine in her class.
Great personality! Willing to help...wants you to understand!! She moves kind of fast, but tehre is a lot of material to be covered! Pay attention, do the homework, review for quizzes, and look @ test study guides, you will do FINE! I mean it!!!
TAKE DORI! That's all I really need to say! (she WANTS students to understand, and is literally bubbling with excitement for accounting. she explains why an answer is right, and why other answers are wrong...TAKE DORI!)
Dori is an excellent instructor. Her choice of husbands is questionable, but she has superb taste when it comes to her dog, Maxine!
Dori is the best professor I've ever had... hands down. I'm not saying the class is easy, because it is a lot of hard work, but her willingness to help students learn is above and beyond her call of duty.
Don't listen to anyone who says Stovall is the best, Dori by far wins the award. She is the most understanding lady, very clear, gives you great handouts that will help to clarify anything. Absolutely the greatest...take her :)
Dori is a wonderful accounting prof. She definetly knows her stuff! For future ACC majors, register for her class. Seemed like we had quizzes and homework due everyday of class, but there is a lot of info to cover for this intro section.
I hated accounting, but Dori was very clear, willing to answer anything, laid the course out as easily as possible, and if you did all your homework honestly they you should have done fine.
Her class is just GREAT! Her handouts are really helpful! If you just do what she asks you to do, you can get A with not much effort.
Great class interaction. Very helpful with the outlines and what was expected on each upcoming assignment. Made the class a good time and taught a lot. Best prof I've had.
Good interaction in class. She is very clear on what she expects on quizzes and exams. I really liked her teaching style, because as weird as it sounds, she made ACC 212 fun. Do the homework, and you will pass with flying colors.
Very good Professor. Very clear and easy. She makes the materials very clear and understanding to the students. There's a lot of homework but they're easy. Do the homeworks, pass the quizzes u'll pass the class with flying colours... Take her class u'll be happy if do that.
Dori is very fun and interesting. The class is not hard as long as you go and pay attention. Read the book and do the homework and you'll do well.
Definitely take her! She makes accounting seem easy. Very clear and helpful but it does help to attend class too. Would take her again if she taught more classes!
She is THE BEST! She's so nice and helpful and really good at explaining things. Lots of homework, but if you just try it doesn't matter if it's right or wrong. She gives good reviews for what to study on tests. She will make you like accounting.
i can't stand accounting, and she does not make it any easier. she is very confusing, but it is also the subject that is very hard. the second test our class average was in the low 70s, which is bad and she says that is normal. usually people end up with C's in her class. i think that sucks!
SMOKIN HOT! She's also pretty good at accounting
very good prof! tests are not easy but her study guide helps a lot. lowest two quiz scores are dropped. class was curved 12 points out of 550 at the end of the semester! take her!
Class for me at least was hard, but Dori was there to help me every step. She let me know exactly what I had to do to pass and helped a lot. Very good prof and really nice. Don't skip out on homework, it'll screw you over for sure
Danko does a really good job of teaching students the basics of accounting. The class isn't exactly easy, but she makes it as straight forward and to the point as possible. She is very personable and lively; take this class with her and you won't be let down
It is somewhat of a difficult class, however Dori makes it a lot easier. The homework takes a long time and isn't worth much, however it is well worth doing. Great prof, take her if you want an easier way to get through ACC 212
ACC 212 is the worst class at GVSU but I guess Dori is the best prof, so, take her. Homework is nice, but you better study your butt off for quizzes and tests....it's a hard class, but if you put in the time and work, you'll pass...maybe not with the best grade, but you'll pass :)
this is a pretty tough class, but she really knows her stuff and explains things pretty well.
Fast, faster, fastest!! Instructor goes too quickly over material, with a weird possessed attitude. Take someone else if you want to hear it!
She is the best professor at GVSU! Yes, the class is hard, but it's diffucult material. She really helps her students understand it and as long as you put in the time, you will get a good grade.
she's hard but a good teacher. recommended.
Tough class, but she is quite helpful!!!! Always available for you and makes class FUN!!!
This is a horrible class if you aren't a business major. Dori is a good professor, but I find myself still confused a lot. Study a ton outside of class, & get a tutor. It was still extremely hard for me though.
Not very helpful or forgiving to those who are not accounting majors.
She is the most fun teacher!!! She makes me laugh on a daily basis. Yes the class is very difficult but she is always there to help with any questions. I HIGHLY recommend her!!
Anything I learned, I learned on my own. made me feel unwelcome when I went to her office & asked for suggestions. after I went, she annonced to the class that no one should come to her class asking if they can do extra work. doesn't give extra credit, which I really don't understand since there's so many non-accounting majors who need it to pass.
A lot of work, hw and a quiz every week. tests have really good study guides but you have to know the stuff to do well. she moves pretty fast and you have to try hard and understand the material to do well
This prof is amazing for accounting majors, however, she makes it extremely difficult and takes it way too seriously for a beginning level accounting class...especially since most people in the class are business majors and are required to take accounting. The tests are ridiculous and her lectures make no sense unless you already understand acct.
She is great for acct majors, but she makes it extremely hard and takes it way too seriously for a beg. acct class-especially since most people in the class are business majors and are required to take accounting. The tests are ridiculous and her lectures make no sense unless you already understand acct. Do NOT take her if you are not an acct major
She talks really fast so grab on and dont let go. Dont sleep and attend class every day in order to keep up with the lecturing. Shes very nice and helpful but shes tough but you learn a good majority of the material through her examples.
Very Hard Subject, but the best instructor. She takes the time to make sure you understand the material. Do Not Get Behind... Ask for help, and she is willing to help at any time. She even drops 2 homework and quiz grades.
shes a fun professor and a very nice person, but the class would be very difficult if i hadn't taken accounting in high school
I love Dori. She is a very nice person with great enthusiasm for accounting. It is a hard subject, but she is a great prof to take it with. Go to her office hour and buddy up and make SURE you go to class.
Very good prof. She knows the material very well and does a good job of teaching it and making sure that the class knows what's going on.
Don't take her class. She does the worse thing you can do as a teacher. Tells you go home learn the material and then come back to find out if you got it wrong. The day you come back though there is a quiz on it. Acc is about practicing over and over but she skips material so that you only see it once.
Dori is a great professor!
Does not seem quite qualified to teach this class. Very nice person, but not quite what this upper level class needs.
BOOYAH!! Excellent professor! Helpful and understanding with my learning disabilty. However I felt the last 3 chapters were a bit rushed before the final exam, had VERY limited time time to prepare for the final. Attend class everyday, take good notes, read book, DO HOMEWORK, and, oh...READ BOOK!
I'm a very good student, but I just couldn't seem to do well in this class. She is a very nice person and I believe that she did teach the course well, however when I went to her for some extra help and problems, she basically told me that she couldn't help me in terms of telling me what more I could study.
She is awful! I looked at this before taking her class and expected it to go well. I failed and did not learn a single thing. Take Dennis Stovall, he is AMAZING! If you actually want to learn accounting and aren't an accounting major, he is the place to go.
Amazing teacher! Made the class material super easy to understand and quzzies and tests were very straight forward! Would definitely take her again. Tells you exactly what to expect, NO SURPRISES! Gives great examples that keep you entertained through out the class!
Took online, class didn't seem to be adapted to well for online. Professor was responsive and tried to help as much as possible. Still, would not recommend online section.
Horible. Snappy to talk to. From an experience I had with her, I asked to turn in my homework because the syllabus didn't say it had to be turned in, and she became rampant and stormed off. Seems nice, but one on one can be extreamly hurtful and mean.
The best teacher at GVSU. Dori uses tons of examples and is very helpful! She make acc as fun as it will ever be! Take Her!!!
Extremely rude and clearly has her favorites. Snapped whenever I would ask a question. It was a boring class to sit through with a lot of material that hardly relates to her ridiculous tests. Not recommended.
The tests are impossible and are most of your grade. I studied hard but what she teaches in class, and the problems on the quizes and homework differ from the tests. Approachable but will treat you like you are stupid. Not recommended.
Dori was very enthusiastic about the subject which made it more fun to learn but she talks really fast and sometimes goes over the lesson too fast making it hard to follow. Not bad teacher, just a hard class.
Tests are really hard. but shes a great teacher. we go over the hw every week, and quizzes nearly every week but she tells u what you're gonna be quizzed on.
Dori is absolutely one of the best accounting professors. You either like accounting or you don't and she helps you realize which one you are. Easy to understand, sometimes fast, but if you follow her chapter notes and study for the quizzes and exams you'll do fine. Definitely recommend her!
She is a great professor! I have her for ACCT 212 right now, and I found out that she is teaching ACCT 213 in the winter semester. I switched professors so that I can take her again. She doesn't take attendance, but I feel that it is necessary for you to attend class because that is how you will learn in this class. TAKE HER!
She is GREAT I would definitely recommend her to anyone whether you are interested in Accounting or not. She puts everything into context with the business world. Very useful information for every business student.
Dori is AWESOME! Very good and teaching the material and she definitely knows what she is talking about! I would recommend her to anyone taking accounting whether you find it interesting or not! She was helpful when you're unclear about a topic and gives awesome review sheets for exams. Shame on those that gave her bad reviews!
Dori has been the best professor I have ever had. She is very helpful and cares how her students are doing. I definitely recommend her!
AWESOME Prof! Makes a boring subject interesting. Hands out detailed outlines which make class easy to follow. Homework isn't demanding, and she gives a study guide for exams. Made this subject understandable for even the non-Accounting major!
I was very scared of her on the first day of class and probably up until half way through the semester but I am proud to say that I thoroughly enjoyed having her as a professor. She makes a tough class easy but she does treat it as a weeder course. The first exam is the hardest. Buy the book and skim chapters. Intelligent woman to say the least!
Great teacher! I was afraid of going into the accounting class but she changed my mind! Second time I have had her. Makes super helpful outlines. Just go to class and pay attention. Really fun lady.
Great professor, just not an easy topic. She tries to make things as clear as possible. Tells you exactly whats on all the quizzes and exams. Would recommend and take again.
Really did not care about our learning. First time teaching 213 in a while was very confusing and made a lot of mistakes. She was nice. But was not helpful. Office hours were a joke
Great professor, graded assignments quickly and answered emails instantly. Always fair to students, and has very upbeat lectures that are never dull.
Decent professor, but hopefully you can teach yourself because if you ever want to attend office hours - good luck! They are almost ALWAYS cancelled. She can be confusing at times, but she lets you ask for clarification and will ask for questions before each class.
Great Prof. very helpful lectures and lots of chances to score.
Awesome professor! Fun teaching personality. Tests are fair, however her multiple choice questions are challenging! Quizzes are pretty simple. Has excellent notes to help you stay on track and learn from! Highly recommended. Ended with 3.0
She has a lot of enthusiasm when teaching. If you take this class with her, you better make sure you can meet her during her office hours, otherwise you could be in some trouble. She can talk down sometimes to people.
Probably the BEST teacher I've had so far at GVSU. I've had her for ACC 212 and ACC 240 and she was amazing both times. I wish she taught upper level ACC classes. ACC 240 is an independent class and she still manages to help you out so much! I'd recommend her to anyone who needs to take ACC 212 or ACC 240.
u go to this class once a week, for a hr, but is only for acc majors."Seaside" is an extremely hard program that u work on the entire semester. make sure you start on it right when she tellsu about it. There are deadlines u have to meet&they come up quick. If u email her & go to her office hrs she helps you out a lot. quizes every week they're easy
She is a great Professor. Explains everything very well, and if you read the textbook, the material is not hard to understand. I had never been interested in Accounting before this class, now it's my major. She is also funny and easy-going. There's online h/w, several quizes, but all of that is really helpful and not that complicated.
Gets off track a lot and doesn't explain the actual math of the problems. Expects you to teach yourself a lot of the material. Didn't know anything about accounting going in, and don't know anything about accounting going out. GET A TUTOR IF YOU TAKE HER.
She doesn't explain stuff. Plan on getting a tutor. Never use the book in class. Kiss up to her and you'll do better.
Funny at times so she is easy going. Helpful handouts! Just do homework and ask questions you'll do great.
Not bad. Very energetic and her note handouts help. all HW online and fairly easy. Tests are pretty hard, especially multiple choice. always killed me. Felt like I didn't actually learn much in class though. Taught myself most of it. However, I would take her. She's super nice and friendly and I enjoyed the class
I found class with Dori to be extremely difficult. She rarely goes over problems in class and I spent hours working through examples from the textbook on my own to learn the material. I struggled the entire semester to pass this course. For all the work I put into this class, I feel like I still don't have a good understanding of accounting.
Homework and quizzes are easy. Test are very hard.
This class is designed for you to do it on your own without much help. Very nice lady and a good teacher. Quizzes weekly(once a week class). Seaside is a bit tricky I recommend finding a group to work with and not waiting until the last minute
This is a one credit class. It meets once a week to basically have her review some things, answer questions and take a quiz. You do a semester long Seaside Marina project that basically takes you through the entire fin. accounting process. It is a good review and cements some basic acc. knowledge. She's willing to help if you seek it out.
She expects the students to do the learning on their own outside of class but is unclear about that. She is pretty vague and doesn't provide many good tricks for remembering things. She incorporates a lot of personal stories, maybe 30% of which consisting of Accounting. The chapter handouts are helpful but she doesn't go through their entirety.
Dori is a solid professor. She's very approachable and will help out if she's asked to. Her tests are difficult but they're appropriate for the material. Be ready for long online assignments and weekly in-class group activities. I would taker her class again if I could.
Professor Danko is a solid accounting professor. I've heard horror stories about other professors, so I'm happy to have had her. Online homework can be long and pretty difficult, quizzes aren't bad, tests are fairly hard. Overall she is a very nice lady who knows her stuff and knows how to teach it.
Have weekly homework on Cengage and some you cannot figure out on your own. I had to get help from a friends dad who was an accountant to get 100% on the homework. Pre-Quizes for each chapter are confusing, I used google. Tests have multiple choice questions that were impossible. She's a nice lady but took off way to many points for little mistakes
Best ACC prof at GV! She gives a lot of homework and pre quizzes, but it's all online. If you take your time and really try on the assignments it will make tests and quizzes much easier. She lectures most classes, but we also have group questions to help prepare us for the short answer problems on the tests. By far my favorite prof.
I took accounting THREE times before this- failed three times, yes- and finally passed with her! She was the best teacher I've had so far. Very energetic and loud even at 9am. Still, you need to go to tutoring, get a study group or study buddy, and work hard, but she is helpful.
Study guides are given before exams which are helpful, but the exams are still tough. This course was very conceptual more so than the accounting aspect of it. There is a group presentation as well as 5 group in-class actvities, there's even a group quiz! She points out CPA material well, because most students in the class are preparing for it.
Professor Danko's teaching style is different in the manner that she actually cares and takes the time to help you if need be.
Dori Danko was hands down my favorite professor during my time at GVSU! She blends her academic knowledge with real world expertise. The class is challenging but she makes the material enjoyable and worth learning. Do yourself a favor and take Dori Danko for governmentnot-for-profit!
Seaside (the software you use in this class) sucks regardless who you take 240 with. Dori is helpful when your stuck and she is very clear in what she requires of you.
ACC 240 is difficult because it is only one lecture each week for 50 minutes. Dori doesn't teach a whole lot. She expects you to know the material, which is fair because it is from ACC 212. If you need any help, she encourages students to come to office hours and she does help.
She's wonderful! Expect to do hw online, as well as pre-quizies online, quizzes in class (she drops the lowest), and group activities for each chapter. She gives out extra-credit. Study and understand the material n how to do the work, its easy. Gives handouts that you write your notes one and study from that and the group activities work. Take her
I went in extremely nervous, but she was so cool and clear about what she wanted on her tests. She provides numerous examples in class with group projects, quizzes, and note handouts. Danko cares about your learning too. If you don't understand a concept then don't be afraid to ask questions. She's one of Grand Valley's best.
Expects a lot of outside studying. Gives very vague feedback and exam reviews. While she does care about teaching, she doesn't seem to grasp that not everyone is at the same level of learning.
Professor Danko was a phenomenal professor. She told you exactly what she wanted you to memorize for classes and her outlines were very clear. Great professor overall.
Homework is not on a routine, it spread across the calendar, if your the type to do homework on certain days every week this won't be the class you want. The team activities are good for testing your knowledge as well as getting help from the group.
She isn't a bad teacher, but she FLYS through the material. I struggle a bit with math/acct. etc. so it was hard to stay on track. I worked hard for a C, but I think that taking this class for 1 hour 3 days per week made it more confusing. Not the hardest tests or homework, and she tells you what is on them. She's not bad, but not the best.
She is really funny and she jokes with her students. She knows what she is teaching and she relates the material to real life situations. If she sees you putting all your effort in, she will work with you to get the grade you deserve. Definitely my favorite prof thus far. Attendance wasn't taken but you should go if you want to keep up.
I personally think Professor Danko is a great person, but feel as if she dropped the ball a bit teaching this class. I found her exams to be extremely tough. She does give her own notes which are usually helpful guides, but her in class lectures barely cover anything. I felt as if she wasn't prepared to teach half the time she was lecturing.
Danko had a very structured class with a set schedule for the entire semester. Homework and prequizzes online for every chapter. Along with team activities for most chapters and quizzes for some but not every chapter. There were extra points available to earn on the tests in the short answer section. I recommend her but you must put in the effort.
Excellent Professor, Accounting is an extremely hard subject but she was very clear while teaching the material and she assigned group activities to assist in learning the material. If you go to class and you study the group activities and the SLA you will be fine.
Professor Danko is by far one of the best profs I have ever had! She makes this rather challenging class pretty easy as long as you do the homework and show up to class for group activity day. Everything is stated very clearly in her notes and though the tests are a little hard you just need to study and read the book. I honestly loved this class!
Danko was one of my favorite professors. Had her at 9am and she was always a pleasant way to start the day. Class is structured really well w/ online pre quizzes and HW, and in class group work that genuinely helps you gain a better understanding. Danko always eager to help but will bust your chops in a playful way if she thinks you should know it!
Professor Danko knows what she is talking about, but her methods compared to other professors' are over-complicated. If you excel in math by doing handwritten assignments, then good luck because this is all online based and the notes don't help as much as they should. I found statistics to be far easier than accounting and it shouldn't be.
The class is based around an accounting software project, which can be very tricky. Pay close attention to her lectures, and take good notes because you put it all to use for the project. She can check your progress and tell you what you did wrong. Use her office hours. Quizzes can be tricky, she drops lowest 2. Also helped with resume and career
Labs are very important to show up to because you are likely to see those problems on the exam. Often curves test slightly to help boost grade :)
Be ready to listen. Pay attention in the lectures, read the book and you will do fine. Her stories are straight BS and she lies a lot. She never makes her office hours.
Genuinely one of the worst professors I have ever had. Not accessible at all. When e-mailing and asking questions, she gives very vague and snotty responses. Does not give much practice material so you actually know what you're doing and tests are impossible. IF you want to understand and pass accounting, don't take her.
Professor Danko is a much better person than a professor. She goes extremely fast and it's hard to keep up, I often find myself just taking pictures of the board. She doesn't do very well explaining things either, she just tells you them, jots them on the board, and assumes you understand. She's a very fair grader, but tests are hard.
Danko is very kind and helpful, especially if you stay after class to ask questions. She definitely knows what she is talking about. She is also the only ACC240 professor that does not give a final exam which was awesome!
Great professor. First accounting class I ever took, and Dori made it so simple and easy to follow. weekly assignments, but as long as you're on top of it, then getting a decent grade isn't hard at all. She makes everything really clear, and is willing to help if you have any questions. Would take her again. :)
Prof. Danko is very nice and easygoing, it makes the class a bit more manageable. There is a pre-quiz, homework, quiz, and group activity almost every week. It's a lot, but as long as you don't fall behind I think it is very manageable.
Dori Danko is one of the best professors I've had at GVSU. She makes the material very understandable and is more than willing to explain in more detail. Accounting can be a rather dry subject but she makes it very easy to understand and even interesting. I would take this class again just to have her has a prof again.
Best prof I have had. Doesn't answer questions well, a little standoffish but makes up for it. Cool and funny professor
While very passionate, she assumes everyone else is as passionate about accounting as she is. If you have no desire to pursue accounting as a major, beware of long lectures and endless homework. She tends to respond to questions with an attitude that makes you not want to ask her anymore questions.
Good Prof. Tests are sometimes quite difficult. Lecture notes are sometimes hard to follow. Online homework is tedious and annoying.
Great professor and she simply gets to the point. Accounting is already a difficult subject so its good to have a professor that doesnt make it more confusing than it needs to be. Youre graded on 4 exams, weekly hw and quizzes. Its work but it helps you prepare for the exams. There are no surprises on the exams as it matches the study guide.
Gov't and Non-Profit Acct is hard to begin with, and Prof. Danko didn't help. If accounting comes easily to you, then her class will probably be fine. Don't take her if you have struggled with accounting before.
Decent prof. Topic wasn't my favorite, but the course overall wasn't bad. Didn't always explain things super well, sometimes have to teach yourself, but it could have been much worse. Plenty of points available, but come to class.
one of the best professors i've had at GV, i definitely recommend her!
Dori was really good at teaching a hard subject and wants her students to succeed. She can be condescending at times, but gives good feedback. Tests are worth over 70% of your grade, but she gives you plenty of material to study off of. She tries to make accounting as interesting as possible by using real life examples. Definitely recommend!
Professor Danko made hard concepts bearable since the class was point based (not weighted) it was easy to get an A in the class and I even failed the 3rd exam. Pre-quizzes and connect HW for every chapter, which are easy points. Plus she gives unlimited checks on HW. Gives great guided notes and study guides.
I enjoyed this class because she gives us access to print out lecture notes. Shes very helpful with breaking down stuff. She gives extra credit and please do her SLA practice problems and multiple choice problems even though theyre not for points. Its helpful for tests. Come for group activities as well. I suggest tutor for this class as well
Looking on here I'm surprised by Prof Danko's rating. She's an ok prof, she was gone multiple times this semester which made us do even more outside of class work. She acts very frustrated when someone asks a question in class, and can be condescending. Pay attention to EVERY deadline because you can get extra credit at the end of the semester.
Although Dori was a nice person I didn't like taking her class at all. She typically expects you to teach yourself from home even if it wasn't discussed in class. During the lectures it was more on a definition basis rather than an example. If you do all your homework you can slide by with a decent grade but be prepared to have to get yourself help
Prof. Danko is very kind and she tries to be lenient. There was a group assignment in almost every class for the first half of the semester so make sure you have a good group. She gives you a handout before each exam that covers what will be on it, which is very helpful. Overall pretty easy if you do the work.
The concepts of accounting were the most difficult to learn. I was always asking for help and spent a majority of my time studying but it still was not enough. Either you get or you dont. I do not recommend her as a professor only because she always sped through the concepts and didnt teach in different ways for different students to learn it all.
Danko is a great professor! The homework and quizzes in this class seemed to be much harder than the actual tests. Study and read the textbook and you should be fine.
The homework is completely different than the exams and her notes are a little confusing and disorganized. Danko made Accounting tough but if you are ready to study it is passable.
Dori is a fantastic lady and she is incredibly funny and nice. She very rarely gets frustrated with her students, and tries to help people understand the content of the class. HOWEVER. She does not give you nearly enough time to understand the material in the class. You will have to teach yourself the material via trial and error with the homework.
Professor Danko seems to be a good person, but is not a good professor. She doesn't encourage questions at all. She teaches very fast, this may be due to the class only being 50 mins long. IF you're not good at accounting naturally this will be a very difficult course.
Dori is not the best professor. She rushes through the material so fast and the study guides are nothing like the exams.
Dori is a very nice lady. She is a very skilled accountant, and it shows. I had her MWF. She lectured on MW and then gave us a group activity on Friday. She always helps you and your group with it to make sure that you get the full points. Tests are always on Monday. 1 point quiz at the end of each class. LOTS of connect HW and quizzes. Very clear.
Great prof, very caring and nice as a person but had some weak points in her teaching skills. Was always upbeat and lectures were never boring. She is excellent in explaining things but goes through information very fast so always ask for another example or for her to slow down and she will.
Dori was an amazing professor. She really knows accounting. Accounting is a hard class in general but she made it seem a little easier. She also gives up to 36 points of extra credit if you do all of the homework and show up to class every day. It's a lot of work but she's very helpful.
Dori is a great prof. This was her first time teaching 310, so she is still getting the hang of it. With that, she would curve the exams by a lot. She has handouts and lectures for every lecture. For each chapter, there's a quiz and homework assignment. 3 exams in total. She tells you what written problems will be on exam. She is easy to talk to.
310 isn't fun with whoever you take it with. It was Dori's first time teaching the class, so there were certainly some rough patches along the way. The exams weren't impossible, but she didn't give us much of a study guide to go off of. Just some practice exams. Overall, she wasn't too bad. She does want to help you, which counts for something.
This was Dori's first semester teaching 310, and we had lots of issues with our exams. Exams alone make up 60% of your grade. You really have to put in effort and time if you want to pass this class. She was confusing most of the time, and I felt I could've done better in this class with a different prof. She's nice, but this class is difficult.
Exams were impossible and her communication of exam dates and content was poor. Assignments are easy and the material seems easy until you take the exams.
Exams were way too hard; she gives you no resources or tips to study for them. Didn't seem to put much effort into the class. Didn't even tell us when the final was for our class until finals week. If you can, try taking this class with another prof.
Her exams are impossible and have nothing to do with the homework. She also told us the wrong date for the final and emailed everyone the night of to say she changed the date. I would avoid this teacher and try to take it through someone else because she is just horrible. Which at this point seems to be a common trend at Grand Valley.
GREAT professor for intermediate 1. She provides handouts and worksheets that simplify and condense the material - which is important because its a LOT to cover in one semester. She is also very specific about what you should study and hosts a review session online Sunday before exams. The material is tough, but Dori makes it a little easier!
Acc 310 is a very hard class and Danko knows that as she gives you many handouts to help with the content. This class is light on homework but in order to good on exams you need to study and practice a lot otherwise this class is impossible
I like Dori as a person. As a professor for acc212, i would not recommend. She usually teaches higher level acc classes and I've learned that in 212. She flies through material thinking we know what she's talking about. The group assignments and quizzes are only worth 2.5 points, exams are impossible. Basically only pts are tests, good luck w those
Dori is very smart and knows accounting. However, we are an entry level class and she acted like we knew what she meant. I did take her as a 6-9 and she never would let us out early even if we had the homework done. Gets annoyed when we ask for help. Exams are tough but so is everything else. Worst professor in Seidman college I've had.
Every week of class is a lecture then group activity, her lectures she goes off her PowerPoints she makes so often going to class is not necessary. For an SWS class it is very light on writing and she is an easy grader. Exams are very tough
Material really wasn't that hard and you get a notecard for the exams but she wasn't a great teacher. Did not learn much from her; had to learn it all on my own. She's bareable.
Easy summer asynch class. Easy hw and I found the handouts very helpful for studying. Tests were fairly short and not overly difficult but helpful.
Prof is super nice but not a good teacher. Lectures are just reading from the slides (boring) and impromptu group projects every week. Exams are tough and not well written. However her grading isn't the worst I've seen. Good luck trying to get an A
Your typical GVSU accounting lecture, pretty boring. But, I did really like the group presentations every week because it helped me apply what I learned to real life. The exams were more difficult than they needed to be. Overall not awful but not amazing
good professor. the exams are based off the textbook which is a little mundane. she funny. tuesdays were lecture heavy and then every thursday we had 25 min to prepare a group presentation and had to present a 5 min presentation. i didnt mind, the presentations are interesting-- but if you dont like public speaking maybe steer clear.
Danko has instructed a few of my classes in the past and she's one of my favorite professors I've had! She's here to help you learn. Classes are easy if you listen and study.
does not explain anything during lectures, she is just not a good teacher. way too much busy work for no reason (not like anyone knows how to do it anyways)
Danko is by far the worst professor I have ever had. It is a miracle I only have had her for 7 weeks. She purely reads from her PowerPoints and her lectures are very boring. She grades extremely tough, and her exams are very difficult. It probably does not help that I cannot pay attention during her lecture, due to her lack of ability to engage.
Best professor I have had at Grand Valley. She is very understanding and is always accessible to meet outside of class. They way she lectures does require time outside of class to understand the content, at least for me. Weekly team activities that are super helpful in prepping for exams and learning new ways from peers to approach problems.
Took this online as an SWS. Tests are extremely difficult and worth a lot of the grade. The papers aren't to bad but she can be a very tough grader on punctuation. The professor is amazing though and is always available for help.
Danko's classes are challenging, but engaging if you stay involved. Lectures can be dry, but the group activities are helpful. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for exam prep. Not the easiest A, but a rewarding experience.
She was so great! We learned as we went along in the class and the last half of our class we worked on group presentations and we had plenty of time to work on them!
Group presentations on Thursdays were fun compared to Tuesdays with her doing a PowerPoint lecture, which at times were a bit stale and boring as you could read the book and get the same content. Exams were not too bad to study for either. Writing assignments was easy too. I am glad I took the non-SWS version due to not having to write as much.
Dori is one of the worst professors I've had at Grand Valley. She's not necessarily a mean person, but if you have a question about homework or email her missing class, she tells you there's nothing to do and then adds 0's. She is extremely boring with her lectures and only reads from the PowerPoint. Her tests are almost impossible. just avoid
Professor Danko was great! The quizzes and writing assignments outside of class were pretty simple and straightforward, and the Thursday presentations were fun if you found a good group that worked well together. She is very social, respectful and cares about her students. The lectures could be a little long, but that is just the content.
Took her ethics of financial performance class. It is extremely easy, and anyone can take the class and get an A+. Prof Danko expects students to have no knowledge of financials at all, so the class is set up so that anyone can take it. Prof Danko is also just super sweet and loves to just chit-chat and be very transparent. Super easy honors class.
