He know's what he's talking about. If you want to learn and are interested/ angry about the world around you, this is the class for you.
This class wasn't hard, I just procrastinated on my work and constantly turned it in late. Alexander is really unique because he doesn't believe in determining a student's knowledge through test-taking. Therefore, there are no tests in this class, only papers. If you're a strong writer, I recommend taking this class!
Easy class. Average amount of writing
Easy class Excellent teacher Average writing Wonderful class overall
I really liked them. They were understanding of the amount of work a student was capable of during a pandemic and stuck with a pretty fair workload. They have a grading policy that is clear and easy to get behind, they really don't make it easy to get a poor grade.
easy grader but they also make sure you learn a lot, which was just great.
This class was so great because it wasn't graded, so there wasn't the pressure of writing good papers just for the grade. The content of the readings was very eye-opening to my past misconceptions about what history should look like. And I definitely recommend going to optional classes because you'll get more out of the class.
the best teacher ever, and im not even exaggerating. the easiest class I have ever taken, literally an easy A. you get an A as long as you turn in the work on time, and the work was suuuuper easy. literally my favorite class ever, Alexander if you're reading this THANK YOU, YOU ARE TRULY A GEM! KEEP DOING YOU!!!!
Professor Alexander has been so lovely! I literally couldn't ask for a better professor especially during these online classes. Their grading style is straightforward and flexible. They ACTUALLY CARE for their students. Complete the work and you get an A. I learned so much through the lectures they gave. All teachers should learn from Alexander! :)
I've taken two history courses lead by professor Alexander and have thrived in both of them. They are so kind and understanding, upholds a great and lenient grading policy that comes in handy the you are juggling so many classes. I learned so much and only had one or two assignments a week, I would 100% take another one of their courses again!
Dorian is a great professor. Theres weekly 1 page reflections and a discussion. Its pretty easy. You read the chapters of the pdf he provides. Hes an easy grader. At the end, theres a paper you have to write.
My favorite class ever because of the teacher. Hes very understanding. Strongly recommend if you like a chill environment and chill teacher.
It was a pleasure being in his class. Sometimes the readings were a bit hard to understand, but if you get a gist of the content, you will do fine in your paper. We only have to do one short paper each week and if it is about the reading he will give you an A. A con is that some readings downgrade some religions such as Christianity.
Take this teacher, they are understanding and have a very different method of teaching. Loved this class!
I took both Dorian's 136 and 137 course and really enjoyed both courses as well as their way of running a course. They are very understanding and care about the genuine effort you put into assignments. I was able to listen to them lecture during history 136, and enjoyed their humor and ability to summarize the content.
The best english teacher I ever had!!!
Dorian Alexander is a great choice for anyone looking to get History Credit. The class material is interesting and Dorian is a great professor and very forgiving and understandable. The class is only as difficult as you want it to be. 10/10!
best history teacher, would take again
Lots of reading, quite difficult reading level. Dorian rambles a lot in class, especially when you ask a question. Overall enjoyed the class. Graded on completion.
It's hard to NOT get a 4.0 in Dorian's class. Everything is graded by completion and attendance is not mandatory. There are readings assigned every week and the readings are complicated to understand but as long as you read your classmate's discussion post, you'd be fine
Was a bit lecture, reading, and writing heavy, but they were very lenient and worked with us to make sure we succeeded in the class.
Best professor ever. The class was fun and was designed to teach not to just have you memorize things for a test and forget later. Dorian was very passionate about the idea of education and furthering someone knowledge.
The readings were all really interesting but kind of long. Everything is graded on completion. There are lots of papers, but don't let it intimidate you as long as you do the reading and go to class it'll be fine. They're very understanding when it comes to deadlines
If you do the assignments you get a 4.0.
This guy is probably the easiest teacher I have had so far. Especially if you do it online async, where he just assigns the work, you do it, and he gives very good constructive feedback on what you need to work on. He's very friendly and the work not even that hard to do. Literally just turn it in on time and make sure you complete it.
Cracked professor, just make sure to spend a few hours a week reading and typing any your good!
I took his online asynchronous History 136 and it was pretty chill. There really was not much to it. For this online asynchronous class, I was assigned weekly readings and 1 reflection on those readings (at least 500 words) to write per week. He has a final reflection which is basically reflecting on everything you read (2-3 pages).
This professor is really nice and patient. This professor will appreciate your effort. They give good amount of schoolwork. This professor is fun to talk to. This professor talks about interesting things and make learning enjoyable. I recommend you to take this professor. I heard a lot of students have good experience with this professor.

It really makes a difference and helps us feel more comfortable and motivated to learn. Alot of student think you are helpful. I hope u remember this comment if you could ever see this.
Please take Professor Alexander's humanities class you'll really enjoy it because I had a good experience with him. He shares interesting facts, stays calm even when stressed, and goes out of his way to help students. He truly cares. Be extra kind to him because he truly deserves it!

You will have a high chance of getting good grades if you are actively doing your schoolwork, participate, engage in class try to ask questions and reply comments, and give your best effort as much as you can. He always answer you when you need help.
Professor Alexander is very accommodating toward students with disabilities and care if you need extra help. If you need help and ask for extra help or ask questions about assignment then he would be really happy to help you and patient to you if youre slow then he would repeat it again without upset and tried to answer you quick response.
This teacher will give you opportunities and chances to succeed and pass his class if you are neurodivergent and struggle in his Queer Trans History class academically. He will help you with what assignment that you need help on.
My former schoolmate took his English class and said he helped him go over the assignment and he said he successfully got a good grades because of him. He was understanding during COVID time was tough.
He is so reliable when we ask for help and he is so happy to help us. I heard most students that I know really look up to him because of his positivity.
I really enjoy his quirks after class. He's very talkative about good facts and he chatters/babble sometimes. He's very innocent. I never heard him say mean stuff.
Professor Dorian was very passionate about the subject they taught. I took their Humanities course this past summer quarter. A LOT of reading but not too difficult. You are expected to post each week your thoughts and feelings about each reading but very lenient grading. Only gives select feedback which was a little annoying. Just participate.
Professor Alexander truly cares about students learning. He keeps the class focused on the most important topics and encourages us to stay on track. He helps students understand what really matters and makes sure we don't get distracted by unnecessary details. You can tell he genuinely wants everyone to succeed and values clear, focused work.

Professor Dorian seems a bit quirky sometimes, but in a good way. Sometimes he switches between multiple topics and wanders, but it's clear he's doing his best. He teaches well, helps students effectively, and is a very positive person. He is really cool/chill!

Professor Dorian is very passionate about the subject they teach. I took their Humanities class during the summer quarter. There's quite a bit of reading, but it's manageable. You post weekly reflections about the readings, and the grading is pretty lenient but overall it's an easy class if you stay engaged.
I took their class in spring. They're clearly passionate about what they teach, and while there's a lot of reading, it isn't too challenging. Students post weekly reflections or thoughts about each reading. Grading is generous, but feedback is brief and maybe selective sometimes. As long as you participate, you'll do fine.
Professor Dorian really cares about the subject. The Humanities class had a lot of reading but was easy to follow. Weekly discussion posts are required, but grading is good. Just make sure to participate.
Alot of reading and writing, but still manageable because grace period is given, and while Dorian can be a bit unusual and expressive or talkative and can be social in class, especially when answering questions, he still shows grace and fairness in grading, and many students seem to respect him, which speaks to his merit and perhaps good fortune.
They seem so happy to help when I needed help so much and is such a happiest person to help others. They motivated me and inspires me and I know them before because I had their humanities/history class. They inspire a lot of students.
