An amazing teacher that is very bright, honest, helpful.

Nothing wrong with teaching style.. acts elegant and sophisticated. You leave each session feeling upper-class.

She tries to use as many big words as she can and it gets pretty annoying but if you can get past her "I'm smarter than all of you attitude" she's pretty cool.

wonderful teacher, your experience at sinclair is not complete without her. Very sexy also.

Dorie rocks. She is a good teacher who understands what she teaches to a great degree. Only difficulty I had is that her class is tough. Hard tests and a few papers just for a 100 level class. Whats up with that. Good person though!

This class was awesome. Dorie is an awesome prof who really cares about her students - even outside of class. Tests were hard and lots of papers, but that only make you better prepared for other classes. I highly recommend her classes.

Dorie is absolutely amazing! Her class is difficult only because you had to write 3 papers that absolutely suck! But she is hilarious I go back to see her just to talk because she's awesome! I'm taking more classes from her sometime! I recommend her but don't complain about the work.. shes awesome!

She is a very good teacher! I learned a lot and she made the class very interesting. You do write a lot of essays but it is a fun class.

What can one say about Dorie? She is an amazing teacher and person. I came to Sinclair wanting to do one thing & now I am a sociology major. Her classes are fun and I learned a lot. She cares more about what you learn than she does about your grade. "An ignorant person is easy to control." - Dorie. Have fun & putting assignments off is not wise.

FYI-For your information...know the first 10 amendments. It could get you out of writing a paper for her class. Trust me, someone told me about that and I did not listen to them so I ended up writing 3 papers when I could have only had to have wrote one! Make sure to study too! I enjoy her classes & hope you will too.

Many long days & classes later, I've come to know Dorie very well. She's amazing. I'll be honest at first I wasn't so sure, but now I love her & I HIGHLY recommend her. She's not the easiest because of all the work, but you learn so much & she really cares about her students & what they learn.

this lady is my idol. her class was a bit tough but she tells it like it is and she doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks. she "sticks it to the man" as they say. I recommend her. she's the ****ing bomb.

She was soo good! I used to think soc. was a bunch of BS but not now! She is a really classy lady! Loved the class-very interesting! Don't put off the papers! Get to know her, she's a really interesting person!

Dorie is fantastic!!!! She makes learning fun and applies everything to real life. I learned so much from her. Whatever you do, DO NOT put off the papers!! That is the only thing that is hard about the class. Before first class know the 1st 10 amendments. This will help you greatly.

Attendence important, go to class take tons of notes.3 papers (4-6 page research ones) due@end of quarter.3 tests,3 essays (1-2 pages roughly) you write@home,multiple choice part HARD!Exchange notes w/ someone.Most likely they will catch sh!t u didnt- she talks fast.Hope this helps someone!U learn aLOT in her class.But be prepared2work your A$$ off

loved the class, hated the work. DO THE RESEARCH PAPERS EARLY OR YOU'LL REGRET IT! tests are freaking ridiculous. even if you study. she always had a really good story, but she talks wicked fast. take notes or you're dead. funny, cool, kind of intimidating, but the overall the class was good.

A little scary at first but she has a good heart. She expects a lot without communicating a whole lot. Her lectures are scattered and her tests are, well, not fun. The research papers are wicked. But you will probably learn something. Do the Stop the Violence thing is it offered, gets you out of 2 research papers.

her class was easy. her tests were fairly hard but the only homework was writing a couple papers which she gives you all the information the first day of class and the papers are due on the very last day of class.

AWESOME Prof. She is by far my favorite at sincliar. She gives a lot of work, but that should be expected for college. As long as you do the work with effort you can get an A. We had to do 3 research essays, 3 casi activities, and 3 tests, 2 of which were take home. Shes great! I will def. take another class with her!

This class is a lot of work but I found that I really learned some valuable things by taking it. Dorie has a good way of engaging her students in discussions, you feel that you get to know her and your class mates. Best advice, get the research papers done A.S.A.P. Not the easiest class I have ever had but one of the best.

She has a great personality. I loved the stories that she told. There are a lot of papers during the quarter and it takes a ton of work, but there is no homework and the tests are easy if you listen to her lectures and do the reading. She was a ton of fun and I really enjoyed the class and would take another one with her as the professor.

The last comment is WAY off. First of all, extra credit is a crutch for those who don't complete the expected work. Secondly, every single question on the test were in the book. Dorrie is an amazing teacher who has an incredible head on her shoulders. She does expect a lot out of her students but that's what makes you learn. Highly recommend her!

Prof was very interested, loves what she is teaching. great stories that have to deal with lecture. alot of papers, but all can be turned in at end of quarter. dont wait til end though. if you take notes and use them in your papers, good chance for A's on work. I recommend her to everyone. Great Prof!. taking her again in later quarter. Excellent!

She is awesome. Had her for SOC-111 and Criminology. She is very smart and keeps students involved in class. She gives out a fair amount of work, which is all good, just don't be a slacker. My favorite teacher at Sinclair hands down.

This class is very fun. I had her for 111 and plan to take her again. I was not a very good writer before i took her class and she helped a lot. There is a lot of work in her class, but as long as you out effort into it you will pass. You will wrtie more papers in this class than you do in a comp class.

She expects a lot from you but explains everything in detail. You have to do a great deal of writing but I think she grades pretty easy. She lectures so that you can take notes...she goes at a pace so that you can write it down. She gives points for attendance. I loved her class!

Dorie is an amazing teacher and I would take her again in an instant! She does not 'lecture' like most professors do, rather puts regular life into prospective and compares it to the subject of the chapter. There is a lot of papers to write and she will keep you on your toes, but you will come out of the class a better person! Take Dorie!

She is too demanding for a sociology class. I actually wrote MORE essays for her class than ANY other class I have taken. Yes, even more than all 3 of the English classes I have taken. She asks test questions that you can not find answers to even with the book right in front of you!

She is great! Not a class for a slacker, she makes you work for it. I wish I could listen to her stories all day. lol. You do have to write a lot, but I suggest you take Dorie! Do the stop the violence if it's offered its amazing. She really does love what she teaches and it shows!

LOVE Dorie!Took Soc 111,130,225,and 226 with her(two were independent study,so you miss out on lectures). She is fair in her grading,if you think just because it's an intro class you should get an easy A,you're wrong.She has her favorites,but that does not affect her grading(I've gotten all B's and she loves me).Insanely intelligent.Take her!

Introductory course that requires alot of work. By far, not my best grade, but one of my favorite instructors by far. Dorie keeps things interesting! I looked forward to this class and would recommend her class.

the funniest teacher ever! i love her! she makes you want to be a better and more knowledgable person. tests are super easy! just study the notes you only really need book to refrence for essay questions but dont use it to study. alot of papers but shes not that tough of a grader. you will definetly enjoy her class

LOVE Dorie!! Her class is not an easy grade, but you will definitely learn a lot and she is fair. She's more than willing to help you if you're having a problem with something, but you do have to ask. She really cares about the issues she teaches and wants her students to learn. I'm disappointed she's not teaching the class I need next quarter.

she is the best. she's serious about what she does, but she is so fun, and her sense of humor makes the classes so neat. She called me Taylor Swift the entire quarter haha. she takes what she does seriously, so you should too or else you may not like her.. just throwing that out there.. it took me 3/4 weeks to warm up to her.

Doris is awesome! The assignments help to make you a more socially aware individual and you will be super thankful for how she opens your eyes to the world around you! I thoroughly enjoyed going to every class and listening to the stories she told (they were always sociology related)! Tests were a half in/out class.

People either love Dorie or hate her. I personally love her. The class was hard and she has high expectations, but her lectures are always interesting and she makes it easy to learn and remember the material. People think she's mean, but she has a different sense of humor that I love. She's very smart and did lectures from memory. I'd recommend her

I took 2 courses taught by Dorie. I did well in both classes. The courses were challenging, but notI extremely difficult. I beg to differ with students who think she is critical or demeaning. I passed both of her college level classes when I was a junior in high school! Think about it!

I'm a student at UD and Im currently taking her class. I wouldn't say that it's hard but it isn't easy. She was very approachable and very nice but she doesn't post grades which is kind of annoying. But overall I wouldn't recommend her to anybody that doesn't like writing papers because her midterm and final are ridiculous. But it's do able.

I like Professor Farrell. he always answered my questions. The class was very interesting. Do the work and you will get a good grade!

Absolutely my favorite class. Dorie is very interesting and really makes you think. There is a lot to the exams but they were take home and if you attended and took notes, the exams are easy. this is a class where taking notes is critical !!! highly recommend her!

Dorie is very passionate about her work and students. I never saw her treat anyone badly who didn't need/have it coming. You will need to read the book on your own for the tests, but in the classroom you will learn more than you think. I was a non-traditional student, and I think she enjoyed my occasional challenge of the orthodoxy.

I loved both of her classes.She is awesome. Very understanding of all situations. Does everything from memory. Makes you write a lot of papers but well worth it. Plus, I like to write papers. Very opinionated and can see everything from both sides. Amazing, amazing. Made me appreciate and to learn more about everything. Everybody should take her.

Ms. Farrell is a great teacher. I liked her and thought she was fair. Do the work and she will give you a good grade.

Professor Farrell definitely know Sociology. If you're considering sociology as a major I would definitely take her class. If your taking SOC 1101 because you need it to graduate then I wouldn't advise taking her class. Reason? Our third and final test of the semester is tomorrow and she hasn't gone over any if the material. Too late now.

If you want to learn the material, this is a great class. Dorie knows her stuff, she can teach, and she wants you to learn. She is not going to give you the grade. Students are asked to participate and engage their brains. It is school, after all.

a great experience. this is one tough cookie so be prepared to stretch your mind. If you need spoon fed, you're in for a shock. Very patient and genuinely cares about you, the student.

There are two test - MidTerm and Final. Both consist of up to 10 Essay questions, due within 1 to 1 12 weeks time. 1 group assignment, she asks that you read each chapter, 2 research papers or you may take on volunteer project for point. at the end do one paper on what you've learned within the time length of the volunteer work and two assessment

favorite teacher. great with teaching about life and opening your eyes about things going on in the world. also good at teaching her class, I passed sociology with a B without opening the book. so it's not as hard as some of these other comments say it is. when you feel prepared for an exam, you are not. otherwise, I love her. -high school senior

She was obviously well versed in her field, I felt like I could learn a lot from her if she wasn't constricted by the course material. I would love to take her again in another class, but it seems like she only does intro.

Mrs. Farrell was an amazing professor. She grades hard, but fair. She states that her opinion of you doesn't affect nor determine ones grade; she means it. She is an unbiased professor who I would recommend to any and all students. I respect her, and cannot wait to speak with her again.

Great professor. She has a lot of interesting and helpful knowledge. If you don't take notes, you're going to have a tough time. Her Midterm and Final are 7-10 questions you will answer in essay form, and it's take home. You pull all the info from your class notes, and other sources like your textbook and the internet. No pop quizzes, or tests.

INTRESTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE CHANGED MY LIFE! I changed my major this is how much I'M inspired !!!!! she's amazing! take home exams! one research paper, 2 short essays , one presentation and an activity and you're done! won't miss a class! I had a wrong impression about this class and I attempted to drop the first week but hopefully I didn't! LOVE!

She is Literally the most amazing teacher i have ever had. If you take this class you will come out a better person. She is not easy, though. there is heavy work load that is expected of you but her class is so interesting and great you deal with. You cannot miss a class bulk of information you need for final comes out of her mouth not in her book.

I absolutely loved having Dorie as my Sociology professor. I took her class over a summer semester and I can tell you that this is a very fun and educational class. There is one debate and the assigned essay papers consist of answering questions as best as you can (there is no wrong answer) out of the rubric that is very well laid out. I recommend.

She is tough, but fair. Incredibly interesting in her lectures and no, she does not act like she's always right. If you're looking to be spoon fed and get lots of powerpoints you can take pictures of, you're in the wrong place. Dorie teaches a class as it should be taught; she puts it out there and it's up to you to read, synthesize & apply info.

Dorie makes you work for your grade. The minute class starts, she starts lecturing. Always read your chapters before coming to class. With every test there are three different essays that must also be completed and turned in, the answer is from the lecture as well as notes. I would take this class again.

Dori is hard but shes interesting and engaging. She is a teacher whose class you will feel good about seeing through to the end. You have to read the book if you want As on the test. Did I have a panic attack a time or two during her class? Yes. But I was very proud when I received my final grade and you could tell she was proud of it too.
