wonderful class, very interesting

Really follows the book. Class was a bit too basic. Tests were only multiple choice with some confusing questions.

i love her! i think she really knows what she is talking about and makes the material ineresting! i also think she tells stories really welL!

Do your readings and take good notes! If you dont you will be screwed. Very informative teacher, kind of boring method but the info was interesting

My fav professor of all time!! She has lots of notes, but shes clear in everything, and very detailed. Her tests are pretty easy also. Shes an overall great teacher, and she seems like she enjoys her job/students. Great class, I would def reccomend!

She comes off as boring at first, but she definetely grew on me and I liker her a lot now. She can keep you interested which is hard to do.

She is very interesting and fun to listen to.

She's a really great teacher, and if you put the effort in, you'll get the A.

She is wonderful! Her class is what made me want to become an anthropology major. The information she teaches is really interesting and she is so clear about highlighting important points. You know what to expect for the tests. And you can tell she really loves her job.

She's a really great teacher. The tests are really easy too because it basically comes straight out of the notes. If you come to class and listen to what she lectures about, you'll be guaranteed an A!

I had her early in the morning and her stories always kept me awake. I liked that the readings were spread over like a moths time so you could take your time. The study guide book also helped. If you miss a class you could miss some important information which sucks.

If you come to class and take notes you'll be fine. She knows what she's talking about and you can tell she loves talking about it. Know your primates.

She wears cute clothes! Class can be boring but the information you learn is really interesting. Test are moderate and those are the only grades she takes.

Best professor I have EVER had at UNCG. She teaches the boring material in a way, that it's not boring. I loved when she told us about her own personal work, she was soo interesting. You'll want to come to class, thats why I did so well on the tests, (they're easy by the way). Skim the book material, minimal ?'s about the book on the exam. Take her

She is an amazing professor! If you go to the class, take notes, and do the reading you are going to get an A. If you pay attention in lecture she answers all of the study guide questions in class. Just keep up on the reading - there are a few ?'s on every exam. I scored a 101 on the final. Very interesting-like listening to a story teller.

This class is very easy. Dr. Davis does very well with telling stories in class so that you can remember the material. The only reason people say that the test aren't easy is because they aren't reading the book. Well, that would be a problem since some of the test ques. only come from the book. Prof very helpful if I had questions. A++++.

The class is a little difficult because she gives so many notes. You have to be there and you have to take notes- pretty much everything she says is fair game for a test. Reading the book is absolutely necessary, since test questions come directly from there and she doesn't cover them in class. Would def. reccomend her, just be prepared to study.

WAS AN AMAZING TEACHER! LOVED HER STYLE OF NOTES. CLASS WAS EASY AND VERY INTERESTING. YOU HAD TO READ THE BOOK AND GO TO CLASS TO UNDERSTAND. It's a pretty easy class. All you have to do is listen in class and occassionally read your book, and you can pass the test. She tells stories to keep you interesting. I didn't take a lot of notes, but that's because I learn more by listening, but if you learn better by writing, there will be a it of writing. I highly suggest taking her class.

I loved Dorothy! She's so interesting, and she wears the cutest clothes. So she has four tests, and that's your grade. Make sure you come to every class, her tests come directly from notes. Also, make sure to read all articles that are assigned! She doesn't play when it comes to asking detailed questions about the articles. Great class!

Dorothy is hilarious! She always seems to find a way to relate the lectures to something sexual. :'D Her tests are so-so; it's always ambiguous as to what's on them. She posts study guides, but they only help a little. Most of the questions on the test can be answered if you just pay attention in lecture. Unfortunately her time management is bad.

I loved this class! Dorothy is my favorite teacher that I have had so far. She makes classes fun and I never had any problems paying attention. Take notes on everything that she says, even her stories. Her tests are easy if you paid attention in class. The study guides are helpful, if you fill them out then you will have no issues with the tests.

Professor Dorothy really makes the learning experience interesting. She tells the events in the course and try to compare it in a funny way with the society. The tests are multiple choices ans rarely 1 or 2 questions of maps. Recommended .

This was a very interesting class. I took it over the summer so it was fast-paced and reading intensive. Dorothy wrote the text we used and new her stuff. She was always incredibly clear as to what she wanted us to know. As long as you go to class and read the assigned reading you'll do well. Loved this class.

Mrs. Davis is very helpful if you go to her office hours outside of class. She is willing to help you at all as much as possible. Her notes may seem disorganized when she teaches but you'll need to listen carefully and READ the assignments to pass the class. Simple input there.

I actually really like her class. If you love history and culture you will love the class. Take notes on her stories, even though they may seem off, they will come in handy for the test. Everything is pretty easy if you attend class and take notes. She does not have notes made (like power points) so this was probably a problem for some people.

I love Professor Davis! Although it's a true LECTURE CLASS where she talks the entire time & you copy notes with minimal slides or overheads, she is normally easy to follow and the info. is very interesting. Just make sure to attend every class, or else you'll probably miss something important that will most likely be on the test.

Mrs. Davis is great. She is very clear, and organized. She really wants her students to succeed and she will do everything she can to help. She makes lectures really interesting. Make sure you go to class, if you miss a lecture it will show on the exam score. Definitely take this class, she's the best!

Ms. Davis is a wonderful teacher. Her lectures are very interesting and she's easy to understand. Most of what she talks about comes from the reading outside of class. Definitely take this class with her!

Mrs. Davis is probably the best teacher I've had so far. She is very nice, helpful, and easy to arrange meetings with. To some people, she may go a little fast, but the ATY 100 class is very organized and if you happen to miss class, then you can easily ask a friend for notes. Extra credit is given on tests, which never hurts. Get her if you can!

Dorothy Davis is a very funny, intelligent, and interesting professor. I wish my major required more Anthropology courses, because I would love to take another one of her classes!

Boring class. Her test are horrible... she gives a study guide but only half of the matrial on the test. Very nice and helpful teacher. but VERY BORING class. Do not take this class if you are not already intrested

Mrs. Davis knows her material very well. She knows it so well she doesn't use powerpoints or anything so you really have to pay attention in class. If you take good notes and read the articles the test isn't bad. She did put a whole article on our final that we didn't even have to read which was aggravating. But do the work make a good grade!

Students complain because in this course, attendance is extremely important. If you don't come to class or decide to sit in the back on your phone the whole time, you'll probably fail. She gives great lectures and tells interesting stories. I look forward to this class.

I took cultural ATY with her and she is amazing. Her lectures are interesting and there's only like four quizzes. You have to come to class, but you will want to. If you're interested in learning about different cultures, it's a good one.

This class was one of my favorites. Her lectures are long but pretty simple and she gives you everything that you need for the quizzes. Just make sure you read the articles, do the study guide, and go to class.

If you want to pass, do quizlets online & definitely read the box articles from the book! Keep up with her lectures.. there are no powerpoints bc she's very knowledgeable on the material. Not many extra credit opportunities.. so the 4 tests are crucial. Very cool lady, honestly. If you ask for help she will give it.

I loved this class. I am an anthropology major, so I naturally found this class very interesting. Mrs. Davis knows what she is talking about. She is a very intelligent woman. I have noticed that the people who take this course and don't like it are the ones who sit on their phones the entire class period. Tests are not hard if you study.

I really enjoyed this class. It was interesting and not to hard. This is the second time ive had this professor and she is very nice and understanding. Also she doesn't grade to harshly. I got away with out reading the material and did fine. Beware though there is a semester long project that requires doing interviews.

Super straight forward and easy GEC class. Professor Davis knows most students are just there for credit and she doesn't make the class overly complicated. She gives you exactly what you need to know, but make sure you come to class as that's the only way you'll get the notes. Also, make sure you read your articles.

Contemporary Nonwestern Cultures with Dorothy Davis was one of my favorite classes. I took it to fulfill a gen ed requirement, but I liked it so much that I decided to minor in Anthropology. It's a straightforward lecture class so you need detailed notes, but it's easy to pay attention because her examples are fascinating.

TR class 1:15 each and they felt like forever. You cannot skip class b/c the textbook is just for reading stories that goes along with lecture. I feel if you don't go to lecture and take good notes you won't pass. No notes posted online but the material is easy and somewhat interesting. Enjoyed the class and the test were easy . Study Guide option

She's a great professor but you really have to pay attention and have to take good notes. If you don't have good notes you're going to struggle. The box articles are a must read.

As long as you read the articles and take good notes, you will pass. Must go to class for attendance and notes.

She was great and the class was interesting. Studying is key though because tests are the only grades you receive and there are only three of them.

Mrs. Davis was a very nice teacher over all! The course was just mainly her talking and if you aren't good with straight lectures and no participation then I wouldn't recommend her as a professor. She's helpful and willing to work with students but if you don't like straight lectures for 50 minutes then stay away.

Lectures are really interesting and she cracks funny jokes all the time. Her tests are the only grades in the class so you have to be ready to study. She doesn't use canvas or power points for her class so to get her notes you need to attend class even though you don't get graded on attendance. She is an amazing professor and is easy to understand.

Ms. Davis is an amazing teacher! I took ATY 100 and I was really dreading it, but she made the class so interesting you couldn't help but enjoy the class. You have only 4 tests in the class with no final. There are some readings at the end of the chapters, but it is not a heavy work load.

Ms. Davis is a great teacher. I love history and random facts so this was the class for me. Her lectures are very easy and only 50 minutes, it is not over baring. You do have articles to read with every test, but none are too difficult. I would recommend this teacher.

Dr. Davis is an amazing professor. She makes you work though, get ready to study and take thorough notes. I've taken two courses with her and she really is cool and understanding. DON'T SKIP CLASS! She is an incredibly smart and talented individual and her lectures are packed full of information. Pay attention. Study. Study. Ask questions.

Take good notes of her lectures. There aren't electronic versions. She lectures with a projector screen, so not just auditory. There are a few key book sections - and she tells you what. There are only 4 exams, and that is where the bulk of your grade comes from. Find a buddy, take good notes, read the assigned parts of the book, and study. No hw.

She can be boring since she mainly spends class lecturing, and does not engage with students much. However, if you do not pass it's because: you did not go to class, did not get notes from a friend if you miss class(she allows a few days missed), and if you didn't study. She always offers a few extra credit questions on each test. It should be an A

Honestly, the best professor that I've had so far! Everything that is discussed in class is on the tests. She also has study guides in the book that match the material that will be on the test. Pay attention in class and read the assigned readings (which is not a lot) and you'll do great!

I really enjoyed this class. The material wasnt posted online, but if you show up, take good notes, and study, youll likely do fine. Shes a little old school with the presentation of material, but shes very knowledgeable!

All I can recommend doing for this class is doing the readings and showing up for class. If you do those, the tests should be fairly easy. She takes attendance, and shes clear on what you need to know and helps you understand the material. Shes a little outdated on how she presents the material but its not that bad. Should be an easy A.

So I was super nervous about this class since you really only have 4 grades from 4 tests. However, I went to every class and took decent notes, did all of the readings, and did the study guide. I managed to get an A in this course and I actually really enjoyed it. I'd recommend seeking out quizlets and other online help for vocab. Highly recommend!

Professor Davis is a great professor. If you rate her 100 level classes, they arent that exciting because they arent real Anthropology classes. The higher you go she is a great lecturer and all you have to do is pay attention, thats what a lecture class is about. She is very accessible outside of class during her office hours.

She is a great teacher who taught me a lot. However, she speaks softly so I highly recommend sitting closer to the front.

I was worried about taking her class since there are only 4 "quizzes" and that is it as far as grading material for the course. However, read the articles in your textbook before taking a quiz and listen in lecture and you will do just fine! She can be funny during lecture and is passionate about her job.

She is a great professor. SHE DOES NOT USE POWERPOINTS. You have to type everything down word for word because it will most likely be on the test. You need to read the reading because there are usually 10 questions from them that will be on the test. Show up to her office ours and she will help you with the study guide.

Easiest class I had. You just have to put in the work. 4 tests all 108 points each. All of the material comes word for word from the notes and the readings she assigns.. I always made a quizlet, remembered the terms and summaries of the readings and boom. Finished the class with a 103. DO THE READINGS AND STUDY. No homework so its a time saver

She gives a lot of examples and makes the material easy to understand. There are a lot of additional readings that you will be tested on. She gives extra credit on the tests. Overall, the class is very interesting. My biggest complaint is that she does not use or post powerpoints, so if you are ever absent, you completely miss out on the material.

As long as you take good notes you'll be able to pass the course. Don't rely solely on the notes she provides so you should take notes on both what she says during lecture and the printed/handwritten she shows on the board. You defiantly need to read the textbook for the course in order to do well on her exams. Overall, I enjoyed her course.

Professor Davis is a very nice person and genuinely cares about the subject matter she is teaching. Her lectures were interesting and I found her class to be enjoyable. The study guide is a book you can purchase and I would buy it again. All test material is in the study guide. Tests are based off lectures and articles from the book.

The only graded material in the class are four tests, so you have to really know what is happening in the class. Luckily the lectures are easy to follow and we have several practice quizzes that count towards extra credit. I learned a lot of interesting things in this class, I enjoyed it.

I thought this class was easy and super interesting. There were times her lectures were hard to get through, but as long as you go to class and take notes, you'll be fine. Would not recommend taking this class online unless you have incredible self discipline. She gives you a lot of extra credit, but be aware your entire grade is based off 4 tests.

Ms. Davis is great. She has a lot of field experience and all of her content was very interesting to me. Make sure you take good notes cause there may be questions on a test that she unexpectedly answered during the lecture. I recommend voice recording lectures cause there is no way to write or type fast enough to get everything. Great class!
