Never had her as a teacher but was VERY rude to me and overall felt the need to talk down to me. Why does she feel the need to be sooooo mean?

The women doesn't even talk to u like ur even human. She stares at you if you give a long paused answer. She isn't helpful when u go to her for help. She needs people skills cuz she caused one girl to cry and many to leave.

She treats every student as if they are as feministic as herself. I did not realize god made professors of this low caliber until I recieved "Dr." Miller. She is less clear about what she wants than a bong after woodstock. If your a guy prepare to get in touch with your feminine side or fail.

man...i had dr. miller...about the second week i flipped out on her and walked out of class...never came back either. she cant teach at all, she's a retired politician so all she'll do is argue...if you get her, drop your class before its too late!!!

SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER! Don't take a class with her teaching. She is very rude to the students and her grading is very unfair. If the assignment doesn't agree with her you get a 0.

Let me tell you what, I LOVE english, everything about reading and writing....this lady made me NEVER want to take an english course again. Narrow minded is an understatement, ADD, perhaps, she bounces from subject to subject and is very unclear, and she will talk to you like you're an absolute moran. DROP THAT CLASS!!!

She made I looked like a fool when I got my final grade from this class.She expects her students to write like professors,forgetting that if I am one I will not take ENG 101.Please Miller, be more friendly with your students especially the minorities students and make them fiil comfortable in your class although it's not bed.

yes its the hyperventilating right before the class starts that gets to you. And the fact that whenever I zone in and listen to what she is saying, its always completely irrelovent. Well stated by the previous writer.

She makes you take random notes that have nothing to do with what you are learning. She discriminates and puts people on the spot. She also laughs if she knows she has made a person feel stupid.

I would never recommend anyone take her!! She is hard to understand and not very helpful. Even if you do all the work, she does not grade fairly or use tests that have anything to do with what she teaches. She is difficult and boring!!!

She is rude and if your papers or thoughts don't agree with her , she makes you feel like the stupidest person alive. She makes fun of students,and then wants students to respect her. I have always gotten straight As and I got a C from her. She rambles and doesn't make much sense when she lectures and her tests aren't pertinent! Dont take her!

She doesn't answer emails. She doesn't help at all. online class vs. in class are still horrible, i don't recommend it. ever. nor her at all.

She makes you feel stupid. She tried to tell me its impossible to do well in school while working 40 hours a week. I did bad on one paper and had a conference with me on how i dont try cause i failed it she doesnt listen or care. I had her for English 101 23 kids started in the class and 9 passed what does that tell u?

She is very difficult to understand. Does not want to help with any assignments unless you are her favorite and agree with everything she says. Do not take her class it will consume your entire semester

She does not thoroughly explain her assignments and when you turn in an assignment she won't grade it because it did not follow her "format" that she apparently failed to explain

Miller was my first college teacher a few years back. Had I listened to her I would have dropped out of college completly. I turned in my first paper and she asked me if it was a joke! I have taken several english classes since then and have received an A in each one. I had to work my butt off for a C in her class, her expections were unclear.

I had this professor, oh I mean "Dr." my first semester at HCC in 2008. She ridiculed all students, she referred some students to writing center, and they would do their new draft with the writing centers help, and then the "Dr." would read the new one, and write "see writing center".. IMPOSSIBLE. But whatever I passed, unlike 75% of the class :(

I mainly agree with every poor comment posted. I took an online course. She was a true absentee professor, extremely defensive, only there for the class to post assignments. She posted defensive comments to her students that were practically begging for direction. Her comments were defensive not helpful, not to mention subpar engish.

Eng 206, American Literature, is more or less the story of Dorothy Miller's ridiculous life. Talks about herself, doesnt explain her grading, is very rude and snarky. Don't prove her wrong or she will kick you out of her office, Worst professor/teacher i have had in my life!

Dr. Miller not only wasted my hard earned tuition money but also my time. English is a subject I have always done well in but even putting beyond my best effort forward in her class wasn't enough. I took her advice but still had to drop unless I wanted an F on my transcript. I realize this is college but I DO NOT recommend her to anyone.

Horrible!! Her assignments were extremely vague and she gave you little direction. She had specific expectations, but did not clarify what she actually expected. She took forever to grade the major paper and her grading was confusing! DO NOT TAKE HER!! You will regret it if you do! I wish I had seen these comments before I took the class.

Awful, just dreadful, she was not helpful at all and her assignments were vague as anything. She contradicts herself and is impossible to work with. Do not take her.

Worst professor ever! Assignments are not clear and she's very unorganized. Doesn't hand assignments back so you never know what your grade is.

It is obvious that "Dr." Miller thinks that she's the best professor there is. During class she brags about all of her achievements instead of actually helping her students. She is also terrible at responding to emails, and will sometimes try to start arguments with some of her students. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Miller is the worst teacher I have ever had. At the beginning of the semester I ignored the negative comments about her because I have never had a problem with hard teachers before. She is too smart for her own good which makes her a master at english but horrible at actually teaching it. She provides no help or guidance and gets too off topic

If you ask a question expect to not be answered. If you want to know what an assignment is and have direction rubric so that you know what your doing and have it in on time, i hope you're a mind reader. If you would like to possibly learn something all you're gonna learn is how great she thinks she is and about her accomplishments.

I found Dr. Miller to be very disrespectful. She does not let her students share their opinions, and if she disagrees with you she will yell at you in front of the whole class. Her lectures are very long and seem pointless since they don't actually have anything to do with what we are learning in class.

Worst professor at HCC. I find that her directions are very hard to understand, and she takes forever to respond to emails. She does not help her students with constructive criticism, she yells at them. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

The most stubborn and self absorbed woman I have ever met. Her lectures are pointless and she rarely ever gives any useful feedback on essays. Her class consumed my entire semester, which hurt my other grades. I would not recommend her.

Take someone else.

She is terrible, I have never failed an English course always have gotten A's, until Dotti Miller.... this woman is the worst teacher in the English department. DO NOT TAKE HER. unless your me, an English Major and ENG 201 & ENG 206 are ONLY TAUGHT BY HER. I am sad i have no choice but to take this miserable woman again

Dr. Miller is the worst professor I have EVER had. I ignored the comments here and now I am paying the price. She is self-absorbed, does not allow students to participate in discussions, and her lectures have nothing to do with the readings. She rambles and takes an entire class to poorly explain an assignment I could have explained in 1 sentence.

Avoid this professor. At all costs. She has no respect for students' time, and has no understanding of how to effectively communicate what she wants from us - it's ironic considering her job is to teach us proper communication.

Never returns assignments, hope you can guess your grade. Do not expect clear directional rubrics on what she expects from the assignment. Talks about everything but the subject in class. Gets angry when you ask for clarity. Explains nothing well. Better luck doing research on your own on how to do each kind of project she assigns.

Seriously the worst teacher I've ever had. Everything she talks about in class doesn't relate to anything we are doing. She believes she is right about everything. I regret taking her class because now I'm not prepared for writing essays in the future. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW YOUR GRADE!!

Dr. Miller is one of the worst professors I have had. She is very condescending towards students and is not clear about her expectations. When she is asked to clarify she simply repeats herself. She is a very hard grader and views it as if her class is your only. BEWARE! I did not listen to the reviews and am paying the price. Do not take.

Unbelievable , Very rude professor and would not take this class ever again!! The professor doesn't care about you and won't help at all. It was really bad. Please stay away from this teacher if you can .

Overall, the class isn't entirely difficult. However, Dr. Miller does a pretty good job of making this course almost unbearable. She very rarely if it all will grade work, it is very unorganized and you will feel very lost. She is a little condescending and she comes across very rude. I would not recommend taking her unless you had to!

i had her for English comp. She is extremely rude and half of the time I didnt know what she was talking about ( I dont think she did either). It was like she never had a lesson plan and just went off the top of her head every morning. She was frequently late and her assignments are very unclear. She doesnt use blackboard at all. DO NOT TAKE HER!

There is not enough space to do justice to just how awful this professor is. She can post updates about her health, but can't post assignments. Can complain about participation, but not give feedback. By week 7 we have had 1 assignment, and a quiz. Nothing else. Research paper due next week according to syllabus, but it has not been posted yet.

I took Dotti Miller's class a few years back when I first started college. On the first day of class, this woman actually took pride in the fact that she had less than a 50% pass rate. All I remember from this class is her arrogance, her disbelief in climate change, and that she went to Columbia bc she felt to the need to remind us EVERY CLASS.

Material was not hard but class structure and Professor are severely disorganized. No clear instruction ever given. Syllabus was never followed, so due dates were a guessing game. No grades or feedback given. Many updates about her health and mental disposition. Please. Avoid this Professor. There are better English Professors at the college.

Do not take this class. Totally understand being a tough teacher, but making the class impossible to navigate was unacceptable. I wish someone warned me more about how little I would learn. Ridiculous amount of stress for a class that should provide basic foundation. Got a B, but was stressed beyond belief, and did not leave with proper foundation.
