SHE IS NOT A BAD TEACHER BUT SHE JUST GIVES SO MANY NOTES THAT YOUR HAND FEELS LIKE FALLING OFF AND SHE THROWS IN THINGS AND AFTER YOUR DONE WRITING ABOUT IT SAYS "OH YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW THAT" THAT BUGS.. BUT SHE IS NICE THOUGH..
SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER I ACTUALLY LEARNED ALOT IN HER CLASS.. AND YOU GET TO WATCH COOL MOVIES AND THE ONE THING THAT DOES SUCK IS THAT YOU HAVE TO WRITE SO MANY NOTES IT MAKES YOUR HAND FEEL LIKE ITS GOING TO FALL OF. BUT I DID GET AN A IN HER CLASS AND SHE OFFERS EXTRA CREDIT SO THAT IS COOL SHE IS A GOOD TEACHER I WOULD TAKE HER AGAIN..
great teacher...learned alot....study your notes...do the extra credit and you will be able to get an A.
You watch alot of movies which is good, because you have to write so many notes that your hand needs a break! You have two big book reports due-the books that you have to do the reports on are pretty good, she does get off the subject of US history ALOT-it feels more like a world history class. She is nice, just alot of notes..
Easy A. If you take good notes, then there is no need to read any of her 3 "required" books. There are no essays to type or final projects. Just 4 multiple choice tests, and you can drop one. And the final is just another regular test. Tests are not cummulative.
Awesome teacher, as long as you take your notes and study them, you will get an A. She gives test outlines and tells you what you have to study, she is very clear loud too.
knowledgeable
Lectures the entire time, does not always cover everything in the study guide, she is against the US gov. , but other than that she is alright. Watch out for the final its true and false but really tricky.
She was a great teacher, I liked her teaching style. Note taking is a must, she does make it interesting though. The textbooks were not used but the novels were required for a report.
She is by far one of the most boring teachers. She doesn't even try to incorporate the class in her lecture. We just sit there and take notes for three hours as she talks about history. The movies she shows are useless. All her tests are easy but you have to deal with how time consuming and boring she is.
She's a good teacher. And no. she's not boring, if all you do is sit in your seat and expect her to all ya. YA. but if you stand up and talk/ask questions when you need to/give your opinion she's all ears. You take notes, which prepare you for university level. and the tests are based on notes. Take it. I'm taking it during winter. It's prettygood
I'm taking her sunday class in the winter 2008. She is very nice. I thought I was gonna bored all day on sunday, but no. She's good. Take notes if you don't want to read the text book and study off her notes very helpful. She will let you choose one of the book for summary, choose "Bread Givers"
She's so nice. easy to understand. Very clear. I'm probably going to take her for Chicano studies. Anyway, I'm in winter class, she requires three books, "Breadgivers" "MY Soul Is Rested", and "Voices of the people" It totals to only about 48 dollars. She's looking out for your budget like that. Ya dig. Dont hate on her cuz you lack social skills h
I enjoyed Reina, she is one of my favorite professors at RCC, I took her for Hist 6 & 7. She is willing to help if you are willing to learn. Warning to slouchers, don't take this class and then bad mouth her because you were to lazy to earn a good grade. Her lectures are interesting & she shows videos to break the monotony. I highly recommend her!!
She is a wonderful teacher, very helpful. If you listen in the class and take good notes you should get a good grade. She is very easy to talk to and if you need anything at all, all you have to do is write her or talk to her in class. Take her for all your history needs. The text books are cheap and you only use them for two typed papers.
took her for chicano studies. HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLA BORING. OMG HER LECTURES ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LONG AND BORING. YES, she's a NICE person, and blabla. but JESUS. idk HOW i lived through that class.
She is a sweet lady, its just a long class....Lot of notes. Seriously, TAKE NOTES!!
I took this class during Winter 2009. She is a very good teacher. Note taking is a must and she checks attendence randomly at the end of class. If you take good note and do the extra credit, you'll get an A!!!
First class taken at RCC during summer. Really enjoyed it.She kept things interesting!Only paper she required was a 6 page one on a book.Got 100% on it, and she'll even proof read it with suggestions before it's due.She also gives a study guide and the test questions come from there.Totally reccommed this class.Really helpful and knowledgable!
Fairly easy teacher. just take good notes do all the work and extra credit and you'll be fine. i did all that and got an A for both classes. His 7 and His 31.
shes a great teacher she knows her stuff very well..but you have to tak notes or you will not pass...she always there if you have question or if you need any help..i love her!
Very easy teacher. She lectures the entire class period without a powerpoint, or notes...it's more of a story telling. There is a 4-6 pg paper required, but the assignment is very easy. I would recommend being there for every class, and paying attention. Tests are not difficult. I would highly recommend this teacher!
She is a really good teacher! She makes the class interesting. 2 major papers are due, and you have 4 tests. But she will also let you do extra credit. So that helps. I wish I could have taken her for all of my history classes! =)
Good teacher. Test are fairly easy if you take good notes during lecture( which is the entire class, sometimes she'll show videos) and do the study guide. Gives extra credit. No HW, only 6 page paper to write.
Very nice, if not particularly a great teacher. You will have to take good notes, but her lectures and Powerpoints are at least clear. Beware: her tests had a lot of seemingly trivial questions about numbers, which can throw a person off.
A wonderful teacher! She doesn't lecture off of powerpoints or recite notes from textbooks. She teaches from the heart! She's funny and ade the class very interesting! I would highly suggest taking her class.
She always made herself available to answer questions or give explanations. She lectured & used power points and had a few videos (*I don't know where the other student was, because there were maybe 3 videos!). 3 tests and a paper....tests were T/F & multiple choice. I liked the class and learned a lot. Don't listen to the one who probably failed!

Cool easy teacher just do the Study guide and actually study it and you'll pass..and gives a lot of extra credit
One of my favorite teachers at RCC. She is a very helpful and loving person. You will definitely learn a lot from her classes. She shows videos most of the time, and gives extra-credit. I definitely enjoyed taking her "chicano studies" course. Please take her and you will love her class. She also worries about the progress of her students. Easy "A"
Awesome Professor Reina! She knows her stuff, tells it like a great historian, very captivating and wonderful human being! Thank you for the wonderful lesson in history!
She's a good teacher not the best out there but she makes it to where anyone can pass all u have to do is write notes and read them so as long as u can read and write you'll pass which is good and she's the only teacher I've had that does that so it was pretty nice.
Ms. Reina makes this class fun and interesting. She re-tells history pretty clear. Just take lots of notes and pay attention. The tests will be easy A's if you can take good notes. There was one 6 page essay to write, but very easy..instructions are very clear. Loved this class.
Ms. Reina was really great at re-telling history. This class is great if you can be there, pay attention, and take notes. All tests are based off note taking. She usually will have you write one 6 page essay. Pretty easy if you follow the instructions. Loved this class.
I didn't mind this class too much. If you take notes in class and pay attention, you will never need the book. All test questions are pretty much given to you in your study guide. The only thing I didn't like was the 7 page paper we had to write. I found it to be hard and almost graduate level work. She ripped my paper a new one, but still gave me a C. Seems that if she feels you at least try she'll give you the credit.
Really enjoyed her lectures. Never was very interested in History, she made it come alive. Some short videos that related to lecture. Take notes and follow study guide and you will be successful!
She can be a rough grader, but the class is pretty much clear cut. Go to class, lecture, break, more lecture (sometimes a movie clip), and then you're out. On test days, go in take the test, then leave. She knows her material very well and she doesn't teach from the book.
She is a really good teacher and her lectures are interesting. If you take notes in class and follow the study guide you will do good. On the research papers make sure you use lots of sources and cite them correctly and you will get an A. I strongly recommend this class
She is one of those teachers that only teaches what is on the test. No excessive work or thought needed. She also lays everything out in the beginning(when everything is due). I recommend to do your Essay and other homework assignments right away do not wait till the last minute like me.... Still passed though :D
Very good teacher. Write down everything she says and follow the study guide to pass the tests. I got an A! I only used the online textbook and purchased a 10 dollar kindle book from Amazon for the essay. And I only needed to read the chapter I was referring my essay too. Got 100% on it! Definitely would recommend her!
good classroom atmosphere
Overall, she's a great teacher. You MUST show up to class otherwise you WILL get left behind. She's is a boring teacher, but that's something you'll have to deal with. You basically come in, take notes on EVERYTHING she says(There are no powerpoints), watch a small boring video, leave. Next week, do it all over again.
She is a great teacher. She doesn't drone on about all the small minor details but gets strait to the point. You have to show up everyday because she doesn't require a textbook (money saver!) and tests are lecture based. Take good notes, I used a tape recorder it worked like a charm! Book report I suggest Bread Givers quick/ easy read.
The class is pretty easy. It's all based on tests mainly and you just need to go to class, take notes, and study for tests. The class itself however was insanely boring! I was sitting there for 3 hours just watchig the clock. Maybe if I had taken her for only an hour a day, it would have been bearable. But overall, it was ok. I would take her again
I had this class for 3 hours so I would definitely lose interest fast. There is no power point or anything just her talking, so take good notes! The tests are basic history but you need to study. Research paper that needs to be completed and if you get in trouble with your grade she offers extra credit!
I like this class. She's a great teacher and always gets backs to you via email ASAP. You must be ready to listen and take good notes. Read all the material given. If you don't, you won't do as well.
Reina has a lot of busy work for her students. Many of the assignments seem like high school work. She expects 10 page book reports with summaries and unnecessary details. She often gets her history confused by misnaming people or events. She lectures without a powerpoint so be ready to take a lot of notes. She does off generous extra credit.
Great class, she is a story teller. She always has these great unusual 'factual' stories about the history you're learning.Be on time, no cell phones unless recording her lectures. Do not need book, gives it to you online to read & just take notes to ace her tests. Offers extra credit & read the bread givers for the term paper.
She is the best history teacher. Also she is very very understanding. I toom her class online and she was always there to help us by email. The classes that I took online, I have not found any teachers as active as her. She answers emails quickly. Greatlyyyyy recommanded.
Very helpful and accessible teacher. If you take the online class get the ebook. Much easier to find info.
it was a pleasure going to class to hear her lectures. moreover, her lectures have no powerpoint, so take notes on what she talks about. she will repeat anything that you may not catch along the way, and will answer your questions. moreover, she will discuss her own personal experiences of the deal with his 7 topics, which are very interesting.
She is just flat out amazing! Her lectures are not long but alot of information, but you can record her lectures! Her tests are not super hard and not super easy, you have to attend every class, study and do your homework in order to get an A. She assigns a paper, it has to be minimum 8 pages it is not as hard as it sounds. She is so understanding
Great Professor. Great insight on the real history, not the crap you learned in grade school. Lectures run a bit long and she hates it when you interrupt her. Tests are easy if you read your notes and a mandatory 8 page paper on one of the reading books. A great experience..
Dorothy Reina is an excellent history professor. I am not into history at all but she makes it very interesting. A 3 hour class actually goes by very fast with her lectures. She teaches in the form of a story so if you pay attention you can almost imagine you are there in the different events. Take notes/attend class, you will ace the tests.
She loves what she teaches, material is super easy, 3 midterms, 1 final, never used the book, she provides study guides, only down fall is she talks A LOT about irrelevant material. class was from 6-910 usually out around 8 or 830 but ZERO breaks. Pretty boring but easy A.
I took History 7 online and did not like it. Had to send multiple emails with my concerns about the test and critical thinking questions. After more and more people started to complaining , she finally lowerd the work, but you have to ask, you all do. After that the class was easier and more manageable. Would not recommend taking online.
I took this class online all you do is write a few papers and take super easy tests. The final is not cumulative but she does grade the papers strictly. I would recommend for an easy A.
The best part of this class is the way she lectures. She shows videos and tells interesting stories. There is no textbook. However, you will have to read a book for a book report. She will give you an option of three books; I recommend doing the first one as it's always the easiest to read. I really enjoyed her class. Her her
Shes gives really informative lectures. Gives study guides for quizzes that are really helpful. Gives extra credit at the end of the semester and throughout the semester. Very good class would highly recommend it. :)
I took this online class during the winter and it was one of the best decisions EVER! I was soooo stress free. There was absolutely NO lame discussion boards to post or reply to and I only had to do a 50 question test every week, due by Sunday night. All the test questions can be found on quizlet & you have the option of writing a 2-3 page essay.
Professor Reina is great. Lectures are straight forward, and super interesting, I've learned so much during 1 lecture then compared to the years of history classes I've taken amazing. 4 tests, 1 book report, and attendance, and you'll pass.
This online class was the best one I ever had, you will be lucky if you get in her online class. We have 5 exams openbook 2 hours each. One book report but if you just want a C grade you might not even have to do it. For an A yes do it. All the answers are in the book and questions are not tricky. I email her and she replies in a day or 2 at most.
I'm so grateful to have taken her class. Lectures were all out amazing and she tells you the truth about us history. Exams aren't very hard if you study and she offers a great amount of extra credit. I recommend this class to everyone!
I took her for history of women, her lectures are interesting but she doesn't have powerpoint until the very end. So if you don't go to class you miss out on information and you can't catch up because there is no text book. So if you take her just make sure to get a study buddy to share notes with.
Do not like her teaching style, she just sits there and stars talking. Very little visual aids, and calls herself a social justice warrior. Goes on tangents on things she doesn't test us on. I do not recommend her.
Professor Reina lacks organization in her class and syllabus. Make sure you talk to her to understand what the paper requirements are. She rants in class over her opinion and stance on any subject. Class is easy to attend- mostly movies. Will mark you down if you don't show.
I enjoyed Professor Reina class. She lectures the entire class and sometimes plays a video on lecture topic. Doesn't assign homework. One 6 pg book report. Gives plenty of extra credit. Record her lectures and review the study guide and you will pass.
I have taken many online classes before and many of the professors have been uncaring but not professor Reina. She keeps the students up to date with notifications and is actively engaged with the class. There are 5 or 6 exams and you will have to read ahead in order to complete the exams as well as the discussion board.
Professor Reina is a doll! Very sweet and fun lady. I took her History 7 class online and it was the easiest class I've ever taken. Her grading is easy and the quizzes weren't bad at all. I definitely recommend taking her :)
Shes super passionate about history and is very knowledgeable about California history. She shows up to class, lectures using the study guide she gives you as talking points and then goes home. One book report and tests are all youre graded on. Make sure you show up to class because she doesnt use the book at all.
Her tests are all based on her lectures, so take good notes. Her tests were hard even though I would study I felt she had a lot of trick questions so I got C's on every test. She does give extra credit which helped my grade. I like that she gives you an option if you want to do either an Oral or Written report.
I took Prof Reina through an online class over winter and it was a great experience. Shes very upfront about what she wants and due dates. Participation and exams were all through blackboard. Definitely recommend!
Professor Reina was an amazing teacher and her lectures were really great and easy to listen to. The test are based off the lectures so make sure to take good notes(every little detail counts). The test were simple and were based off the lectures(review is given as well and test are also based on that), but you need to buy the books for her essays.
I took Professor Reina for an online history class. All of the test answers are on quizlet. There are weekly posts that are fairly easy and the summary of all the chapters are online on prenhall so you don't need the book. Do the research paper she provides in the beginning. I got a B because I never turned it in and I didn't want to read 500 pages
I love this class! I am currently rounding it out for summer 18 and it's been a pleasure. I simply set aside a couple of hours every sunday to get my work for the week done and that's really all it takes. One test per week as well a 2 paragraph discussion post. Ms. Reina is a delight and she really does care about what she teaches and her students.
I took Reinas class online during the summer term and in short I am SO glad I did. Her class consisted simply of 6 easy discussion boards and 6 open book exams. She posted everything in advance, was eager for us to understand the material, and sincerely cared for students.
You really need the book. The course was really simple though. Post on the discussion board and take a try every week. She didnt give good feed back and sometimes she was opinionated instead of factual.
We are very lucky to take her HIS7 this summer because we dont have to do book report this summer , only 6 discussion board questions and exams. You only to do 5 of the 6 discussion questions. If you do all of 6 questions, you can get 10 extra credit. You can find the answer of exam online. It is a easy class.
Her class is really just lectures and movies/videos. Pay attention to the videos though sometimes it gives information that will be on the test. You don't really need your textbook but you can find some study guide answers in there and the study guide and test are almost identical.
Easy A in this class
What bothered me the most was that she didn't have much of any visuals for her lectures. She only had powerpoints for a few lectures and even those ones were too wordy. She provides a study guide, but her lecture is usually all over the place. Don't forget to check to the syllabus often, she won't remind you when assignments are due soon.
Easy A class! Took online and there is only 1 discussion post a week with citations from the textbook, which I didn't use and still passed with an A. and Also 1 test a week, multiple questions, 50 questions. All the answers are online on quizlet for the test.
Professor is tough grader, does not care if youre really trying your best. She does not offer extra credit. She demands the last assignment by 6pm on the last day of class and she will not care if its a minute late she will not accept it, even when she knows that the assignment would determine if you pass the class with at least a C heartless.
For a class that most people for an easy -A, she gives way too much work. This semester has consisted of 3 tests that have nothing to do with her lectures, a book report, 10 page research paper, and a 10 minute in-class presentation. Highly recommend you DON'T take this class
Took online most annoying thing is she wants a 1 PAGE PAGE DISCUSSION BOARD PAPER PER WEEK AND A RESPONSE TO ANOTHER STUDENT SHE DOES READ THEM AND SHE IS AN ANNOYING GRADER. I have done excellent papers almost 2 pgs long and because she didnt see what she wanted she write a message saying too vague. 3 Test are very easy 50 questions all online.
Great professor
Not hard but 1 page per week discussion boards. 4 exams, no extra credit, I got a 89.7she does not round up. She does grade based on how she feels about a topic. She was fine
Not hard just annoying a 1 page per week discussion board plus you have to respond to another student. Otherwise its an easy course and YES she does want you to answer based on her opinion although she is asking you for yours.
Took online in summer. Each week is exactly the same: a 3-5 paragraph DB post, respond to one other person, and a 50 question multi-choice exam. Very easy to keep up with. Do yourself a favor and only use your assigned textbook for sources unless she tells you otherwise.
Yes, the discussion boards were annoying. The prompts were only one sentence long and from there you had to formulate this page long response. It was
I did like the structure of the class organized and easy to follow. My only complaint were the discussion boards. The prompts for them are one sentence long and from there you have to formulate a page-long response. I could throughly answer the prompt in 2 paragraphs, but it
I didn't purchase the book or needed it at all. The class consisted of discussions and tests and 1 paper. This was an easy A, I read her PowerPoint's and that was enough to pass her exams.
So glad I took her online class! she truly makes it clear on what to and what she expects. Do everything she asks and you should end up with an A. This is a great class to take if you are not a strong test taker.
I had her in an almost strictly online format because of the pandemic. You only get graded on 5 things throughout the semester - three 50-point tests, a 10 page research paper as a final (super fun to do and an easy A+ if you just do what she wants), and a presentation about that topic. Have to read a few chapters a week of the text. Overall great.
Probably one of the not so good professors. She was rude me and the rest of the class with a hint of aggressive passive aggressiveness. Gave me no credit (0/25) twice on a discussion. First one, I didnt know she only had two approved sources to gather info (gov websites dont count); she didnt bother read my 2nd submission. I had to battle her.
I had taken her History 7 class during winter session 2012. She is very clear on what she expects from her students. Youll have a test and discussion post due per week. Super easy test and discussion post is only 500 words. I would recommend to only refer to the text book. Follow her instructions and youll end up with an A. She grades fast!
Rudest teacher Ive ever had. She does not show empathy toward her students and has an unpleasant attitude. She is blunt and expects her students to know everything. Even if you make a slight mistake in the discussion boards, she gives you a zero. The work is not unbearable, that is the only okay part about this class. I DONT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS.
Shes harsh on your grading. If you go outside to find any reliable resources for your papers other than the one she provides you, youll automatically receive an 0 for the paper. She also doesnt accept late work or revisions at all. Professor Reina doesnt teach or explain any of the material in her class. The books PowerPoint does the only work
RUDE RUDE RUDE. Most unpleasant instructor I've ever had. She had us turn in work during our spring break even though on her syllabus says differently! She does not accommodate late work for NO reason. It is a waste of time to reach out to her because of her attitude of "she is right all the time". Avoid her class.
Professor gives clear instructions on requirements and materials needed to pass the course. I like the fact she gives us options for discussion assignments, 10 are required out of 16 opportunities for this assignment. Can do o e more for extra credit. Gave 5 points extra credit just for introducing myself. History is not my thing but like class
I took this class during winter. Read and study content! Tests are long. Reports are on 3 chapters at a time. She gave good feedback and graded fairly. Participation with other students is part of your grade. Prof Reina responds quickly.
Professor Reina was a really good instructor. There was a lot of reading, papers and quizzes but if you read the material and put the effort in you should do well.
If you put in the time, this is honestly an easy A. Exams EZ. Discussion boards are a bit difficult if you don't know MLA or are not the best writer. Only thing you need to do is read the textbook. The only assignments for the whole class are 5 Discussions and 6 exams, non cumulative. So it's worth the work, given that that's all you have to do
Very rude! She has no compassion for her students. Educators should be there to inspire and encourage your students, not make them feel defeated and discouraged. Please take this course with caution!!!!
Class was overall easy, just do the work and you'll be fine. For me, you were required to do 4 out of 6 discussions over the winter semester, and you can do an extra one for extra credit. Each discussion post had to be about 500 words minimum, and you had to reply to 1 other person for full credit. There's also an exam each week, open book.
Had to switch out to HUM-16 due to strict guidelines for the weekly discussion homework and too much reading. Also not all the books required can be checked out in the library, so prepare to pay for your own at the bookstore for one of them.
discussion board rules are so strict, there is a syllabus quiz in the first week of class and if you get a 17/20 or lower you get dropped. she's strict and doesn't allow any late submissions or retakes so if you miss something you can't redo it.
Professor Reina was a great teacher. I took her HIS 7 online class in the winter term. She did seem a bit intimidating at first but as long as you read everything and put in the effort you'll be fine. Her comments are very helpful and she has a clear, straight forward grading system. There is a discussion and exam every week plus an extra essay.
Super straight forward with her grading criteria. Be ready to write and learn! The class is easy to get an A in, just read the material and you will be fine.
Professor Reina's HIS7 class is a mixed bag. The workload is manageable, but she can be harsh in her grading and communication style. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prep, alongside the textbook. Overall, put in the effort and you'll likely do well.
Had her online class back in Spring 2025. Forget that I had this class because of how easy it was. The quiz answers come straight from the book. There's a couple essays (one's a book report on one of the required books). Pretty sure she just gives them 100% as long as the paper's cover the topics because I turned in rough draft level essays.
great teacher, only one dissucion every week. only needed to do 8 out of the 12 disscusions for full credit. gives feedback on responses. one book report and one final report. total of 3 books needs for the class however they weren't expensive.
