AT ALL COST AVOID TAKING THIS PROFESSOR!!! Dottie Walton has no interest in the success of her students. She "teaches" an online course, but in fact you teach yourself the material. When asking for any help there was great resistance. In my opinion I think tri-C is wasting their money paying such a poor excuse of a so-called professor.

Took her online course. Homework was easy because it's homework manager. HER assignments and tests however are terrible. She takes points off for everything, including non existent reasons! Without the tutors help I never would have passed, and I got an A in stats 1, explain that!!

Professor Walton has an undependable nature. She did not return emails and did not answer questions. Also, she did not offer any opportunity to get extra credit other than within the first few weeks. She didn't even give back tests in the end to reference. I went from a "B" in the class to a "D" after only a final exam! GPA is now ruined. Thanks

DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR. I took my class online, and she makes you jump through hoops to take tests. I had to print out the test, write on it, scan it into a computer, convert it into a pdf file, and send it via blackboard message. This isn't a computer literacy class. She's also mean and unsympathetic.

Ms. Walton was extremely unclear and confusing. I am a very strong math and statistics student, and have never received below an A in any mathematics class, until taking this one. She taught the material very differently than I have learned it previously and was very unclear on what she wanted for her answers on quizzes. I would avoid this class.

Math has always been my best and favorite subject. This teacher might have changed that. The exams and homework have so many errors on it you have no clue what you are doing, she takes off .25 points? I constantly message her asking questions and never get a response or being told to go watch the video again that doesn't discuss anything I need.

Took this class online. Big mistake. Takes points off on test for a misspelled word, but EVERY test had typo's that needed correcting. Big typo's, like graph and word problem do not belong together. or numbers in word problems and numbers in graphs do not match up. Takes several days for feedback on tests.

Takes a lot of points off for stupid things (adding redundant information but still having correct answer) Frequently took off points for small things like writing the answer in decimal form and percent when she only wanted one or the other. Or took points off for not rounding to certain decimal place when she didn't even specify that .

She is a horrible teacher, she takes off points for no real reason. She has a very thick accent. She deducted points off of my test because I used a highlighter to create a bar graph when she did the same thing on the answer key. She is very unhelpful when you email her with questions and takes forever to reply. I would not recommend her.

I took MATH1240 online. The material was challenging but Walton was not helpful. She often told you to refer to the text or her premade videos. There is weekly homework, 4 exams, and a comprehensive final. No feedback on exams. Your answers are wrong if you do not solve EXACTLY how she wants it. You have to be a mindreader! Avoid her classes!

This is the worst professor I've ever had. I took her class online, and did terribly. She would take points off on tests that would make no sense, and never provided feedback. Worstest math teacher at Tri-C. She is an extremely tedious grader. Statistics is typically an easy course but this lady here tries her hardest to fail you. I STRONGLY suggest that you BEWARE of her. I would not recommend this professor at all. The content is not hard, but the professor makes the tests nothing like the video or homework that is assigned. The professor drinks and chews during her videos which is extremely distracting. Impossible to get a good grade on a test because she marks you wrong for spelling and grammar, really everything

Its almost like this teacher wants you to fail her class, despite how much you reach out to her for guidance. Her tone is always nasty, and she is not a fair grader. I thought teacher's teach. Taking her online class is basically you teaching yourself. I needed this class and had to drop the course because I didn't understand anything. She makes you photocopy your exams in then email them to her, and instead of working the problems out on the paper you have to figure it out on the answer key. NEVER AGAIN DOTTIE

Please do not take any class this professor offers. She will make what is actually easy content, overwhelmingly difficult. She wants everything to be "her way". If you have the right answer it doesn't matter. If it is not in her specific words you'll receive no credit. She's a terrible professor that doesn't care if you pass or fail.

Terrible- the most difficult, disrespectful person I have ever worked with. Reached out early to ask about the class structure and if it was possible to work ahead - she accused me of hiring someone to take the course for me since I had 100% on all homework. If you do not give the verbatim answer she wants (even if the number is correct), you fail.

She grades exams with no relation to your actual knowledge of stats and will fail you if you have a scanner issue even if you have proof it was finished on time and submitted a typed version (on time) of the exam that was completely finished.

I have taken much more advanced math classes, and I clearly know the content and show work, but still receive zero on an exam just for using one conversion factor that wasn't in the textbook. All the bad things you hear about her are correct.

I took online Math 1410 at Tri C. For the exams it turns out that you have to print off her exam, do them by hand, with detailed work, and then go to the East campus and hand it in to her at her office. I don't think she understand the reasons people take an online course. She also had a bad attitude in my email exchanges. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS

Don't be afraid of statistics everyone! I took this class a few semesters ago and had to drop it due to the teacher. Much like the other comments, the teacher was beyond difficult to work with and uncaring. I retook statistics with a different professor and have an A. Don't let this professor ruin math for you.

I have never done so poor in a class due to her grading. I could have had 100% on one of my exams but got a 52% because I did not write out my answers the way she wants. Literally. I had the answers correct and still marked wrong. All she does is send negative emails stating how bad you are doing in her class and you need to try harder. pissed.

The worst experience I've ever had in a class or dealing with a professor. Please read the other ratings and steer clear, because the class has much less to do with how well you understand statistics and much more to do with how precisely you conform to her course guidelines and adapt to her ridiculous and unreasonable grading patterns.

I took her Stats class online and it was probably the worst decision of my entire life. The material itself is incredibly easy but everyone somehow still does terrible on the tests. You have to watch videos that initially seem straight forward, but if you don't copy the information exactly, you'll fail the test even if your answer is right.

The material and the online format were not difficult but Ms. Walton was difficult to deal with. The recorded lectures were difficult to understand and her grammar/diction is mediocre at best. The material she emphasized in the lectures had little to do with the exams and homework. She is cold and condescending. I wish Tri-C would get rid off her.

I did not have a grade for the entire class including 3 days after the course had ended. I asked her about this on several occasions and she was rude every time. I also was marked off on exams for no reason even if the answer and work was right. My homework was right and done the same so it doesnt make sense that my exams did not reflect this. >:(

I have excelled in all my math courses including AP Calc, Trig, Geometry. However, in her class, much easier material, I got a C, though most of my answers were correct on tests. Although my answers were correct, shed take off for being too specific or not specific enough. I never knew what shell take off for. My grade didnt reflect my knowledge.

This professor made me go around in circles trying to get the next assignment to show up. She had her class set up in a way where you had to mark things as reviewed just to see the next page come up. Along with this, she also never graded any assignments. I could barely stay in her class for 3 weeks. Ended up dropping the class. Worst. Professor.

Dottie Walton was very nice to me when I met with her in person, it was just her grading format was rather harsh. I've taken Statistics at CSU and earned a A- in the class, it wasn't a very difficult class. But I was in HS when I took her and earned an F in a math literacy class and as other people have stated, if you don't do it her way it's an F.

I learned Statistics. The math isn't as difficult as she grades. She's nitpicky as, her grading is not a reflection of what you learned. I've been in school for a number of years. No all, 98% of my professors preferred to be called by their first name. I called her Dottie and she rudely demanded I call her professor Walton. That sums up her prob.

One of the hardest classes I've ever taken, due to this professor being unresponsive and not helpful when it comes to material. grades extremely harshly, do not recommend if you want to pass a class.

The actual course material is easy, it's her grading that is impossible. Even when I did my tests exactly how she did in her lecture videos, she took off points for the smallest things. The icing on the cake was claiming I did not turn in a final exam, giving me a 0, and never returning emails again. Currently in the process of academic appeal.

Her approach in her syllabus read me the wrong way. First off being that it's an online course and her syllabus was 10 pages long with all these expectations for an online class. I dropped the class within a week.

There was no textbook, so all you had were her video and note which required you to print out everything which posed problems for some who did not have access to a printer and if you could print, all of the work wasn't available at once. If you don't show work for the simplest equations, she takes points off. If you show too much work, she takes points off. She will insult your intelligence to your face and will not stop to understand your point of view. My father also had Walton and had the same issues. This class was an 8 week online course and test only. I took 5 other classes and passed with an b+ and above. She's petty grader in plenty of ways, she said that I did not turn in the test when I have records of it being turned in on time.When reached outside of class she responded rude and sassy. This professor tends to be a bit nitpicky when it comes to grading, and it's not just in one aspect. She mentioned that I didn't turn in an exam, but I have solid records that clearly show I submitted it on time. Class average on most tests were a 60% and he did nothing to help. Most students I know are failing and he does not care. He is often passive agressive and does not try to help fix problems. Not my favorite professor at all.

If you see Dottie Walton when registering for your classes, skip her immediately. This has been the most incoherent and unorganized class I have ever been a part of. Maybe it's because i'm former military but I can pretty easily tell when someone is just not trying, or incapable of leading a team. It's just sad that education has sunk this low.

The math class I'm taking is a total nightmare. Juggling full-time work and online studies leaves me with few choices. The lectures are dull and it seems like the teacher isn't invested. Lacks connection/community amongst students. Lacks consideration/avoids common goals for students to become successful. Exams are typed up on Notepad, having multiple errors. Provided modules do not come from a specific source, i.e a textbook or online software. Rather, she provides math topics through power points others' YouTube content.

It feels as if her goal is to make the class as difficult as possible, to the point where people fail. I am in MATH1100. I could only imagine the difficulty and stress anyone in a higher course could be enduring. May God be with you all who takes her class.
