Very funney, tells lots of stories. Good at teaching the material, answers any questions even unrelated to class. Sticks to a ridgid schedule and doesn't usally slow down, if you don't get it you have to get help during his office hours.

First time in my life than anyone ever explained algebra to me in terms that made ANY sense. That doesn't mean that algebra is any easier for me by any stretch of imagination but at least now I understand it. Also, Avery is a very amusing instructor.

This is an upbeat teacher and adds alot of humor to class. His pet peeves are slackers. Great explaining math and he TRULY enjoys math and that comes across in his lectures. He's very helpful and fair if you are trying hard. Glad I had him for a teacher.

He's a good teacher knows his math, he is always there if you need help. His test are pretty easy if you study.

Pretty nice and fun guy, very strict on tardiness/absents though. Explains math pretty well too. Highly recomend him, but he doesn't allow any calculator usage, so beware.

The reviews here are not even half as true! Professor Avery is probably one of the coolest math teachers that thoroughly explains problems. If you're having difficulty, he is definitely available and doesn't mind going over things in class. His jokes and personal insights on life are always amusing and kills time. I highly recommend him!

Best math teacher ever. Passionate, enthusiastic, very funny, and intelligent. no calculators but he actually shows you why certain rules of formulas exist..mathmatically so you understand it down to the bone. trust me, makes it easier and fun. not too much work at all, easy tests, and an excellent instructor.

Avery is a very fun, intelligent and helpful guy. I probably wouldn't have been able to pay attention if it wasn't for his active personality. He never minds going over a problem until people understand it and that's a quality not every professor has.

Well he's a funny professor. keeps you going, he takes his time with his lectures. helpful but when the test comes its difficult. He has homework that counts, You would need a tutor if you're a person who needs alot of reviewing!..

Mr. Avery is a very funny guy. He made math very entertaining. He jokes around with the class and he usually jokes about his wife kids and occasionally the dog. Avery knows his math and will explain problems,if u don't understand but u have to ask. He goes a bit fast, however it was a 6 week course, so u need to be there and need to pay attention.

Great Teacher! A six week class, so it moved very fast. No use of calculator was a problem. Not Nessisary in a low division class... will not be a math major.

I WAS horrible at math. I took him over the summer for Math 255 after failing during the fall with another instructor. With Avery I was actually able to learn. He explains math problems to you step by step and has no problem taking time to help you. I feel very confident in my math 101. Take him, if u want to learn!

if you love to use your calculator then don't take him, he won't let you use it at all. other than that tests are multiple choice, homework are due on test day, and no quiz in there. one down side to this class are his constant stupid jokes and his favorite saying "winner, winner,chicken,dinner".lol.

Really one of the GREAT teachers FCC has to offer. Also had him for 255. Always was bad at math, but I learned a lot from Avery. He is very clear and class moves at a good pace. Only reviews HW qs that are asked, saves time. Actually LEARNED.

Pure math excitement! Taken as a six week summer course, but rarely felt rushed or overwhelmed. Lectures were good. He does skip steps but he is happy to give extra help or go back and explain. All tests are multiple choice, homework is only graded on completeness. If you need extra help you NEED to ask. Hope to have him again in the future.

He is an AWESOME teacher. He gives extra credit for spotting his mistakes. He makes sure that you understand what he is teaching at our level. He alo makes sure that you can check your answers on your homework by giving you the odd questions from the book. I would take him again if he were to teach 10A & 10B. He is the one teacher I will MISS!

He just plain out rocks. Mr. Avery is the greatest math teacher I have ever had the pleasure to be taught by. He even went to the same elementary school I went to(Lane). The class is super fun and the students talk because he likes to break the ice early on. He makes it so you want to learn and keeps you interested in math even if its your worst subject. He is a very helpful math teacher. He will go over every question that you have and will reexplain what he has on the board. All of his test are multiple choice and he will drop the lowest test score at the end of his semester.

I took Mr. Avery for two of my math requirements for GE. Only twice because he didn't teach the other required courses. He is a great teacher. I remember I begged him to pass me (because I didn't think I did well on the final) I promised him I would never take a math class again! And well I passed and was able to transfer to Fresno State! Now that I a college grad I still remember him and his class ! Take him !

Mr Avery is AWESOME! Math homework is submitted online. You get about two WEEKS per chapter. If there is a homework question you didn't understand he takes questions at the start of class before he lectures. He will meet with you during office hours to help you and do what ever he can to help you pass the class. And he's hot. ;)

I took his class for one semester both short term classes and everything he taught sticked and the test reviews and homework were very helpful. If only he taught stats this semester I would take it with him but I'm glad I took his class, trust me you wont regret it.

My favorite teacher so far. took him for summer school and never was a dull moment. the only teacher that actually taught me something and it stuck. I would take him over and over. highly suggest him. can be sarcastic but not the annoying sarcastic. really funny and is a good teacher. will help you till you get it.

ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I'VE EVER HAD FOR ANYTHING!! If math is your worst subject and you just can't get into it take this guy's class. Humor is extremely underrated as a teaching method, but getting my math class to joke around with one another has really helped our success. Avery is a great teacher. He's always joking around. Always willing to help you if you need help. Doesn't move on to the next section unless everyone is ready and understands what is going on. All you really have to do is communicate with him, and he will always provide you with feed back. Test are short, and always does a great review.

This class challenging for me, I was pretty terrible at math. I had Avery from math 255-103 he made things simple and straight to the point. I now feel more confident and realized it's all a matter of studying. He is extremely helpful and easy to follow. TAKE HIM you won't regret it. Drops lowest test score at the end of semester. Great teacher, easy to understand. Homework is all online, and he does problems in class with you. Super helpful, funny, made math fun.

He gets straight to what you need to know and how to do the work doesn't lecture too much where it gets boring and you just stop listening, easy to understand and is very helpful if you don't. Homework all online which makes it easier and goes over homework number for number every class meeting. If you maintain an "A" don't need to take final.

Everything is on MyMathLab. You watch videos and teach yourself. Lots of homework but it was a summer class, so that is expected. If you do the practice test for each chapter more than once you should have no problem on the actual test. Both the practice and actual test are very similar.

I loved Averys class! I took the 6 week session. Avery does the homework in class, and encourages tutoring if you need any additional help. The tests were very similar to the study guides. His jokes helped the class, during times of stress. I recommend anyone to take him! He offers so much compassion! Im going to miss him!

Avery tells corny jokes which makes him funny. Tells a lot interesting life experiences, which can take 10 minutes of class. Literally does a math problem while explaining it step by step. Let us use flashcards on test. Did not really answer my emails, but told him upfront and he fixed questions I had. Do your work and you'll pass.

Communication is the key for his class.

Avery is awesome. The entire class is on Pearson. He does the HW in class with you question by question & he gives a VERY generous study guide before each exam. I had him at 6am and he was telling stupid jokes even that early. His storys are actually interesting and he had me laughing more classes than not. Communication is key if you have issues.

Great Math professor, he is really understanding and want his students to succeed. He is really funny I took his 6 am class and not even once I was tired. The homework is online but we did it together in class. He goes over the test or similar questions the day before. If you attend class for the review trust me you will get an A on the test.

Online 4wk summer class, was tough, but doable. No textbook needed, but my math lab access code is needed (expensive). The teacher explains how to do the problems pretty good. Just follow along his recorded videos.

This professor is very kind and he actually cares about his students. He constantly tells the class to stop him when there is something we do not understand. Although he does make bad jokes, his class and lectures are very easy. Homework is online but very easy to do, and quizzes are in person. I hated math but he really helped me understand.

If you have any questions or concerns, he will make time for his students. He has power points you can access at home. Just do the homework and you'll pass. Don't miss test review days, they're so helpful. He does take the test questions into consideration, so if you actually do the homework, you'll definitely get 100%.

Professor Avery was by far the easy professor if you listen to the lectures and study the study guide. Not only that he goes over the homework problem with you in class. Just practice problems and study. You'll be fine! He talks about his wife a lot and I can see that he loves her very much.

Currently taking online class for fall semester, I found it a bit hard especially because you have to in a sense teach yourself. YouTube lectures. But would take again, currently have a high B :)

This was such an easy class, yes I got a C lol, I was sick for most of this semester I missed a lot but even with that I still passsed. Aways does a review before the test. It is honestly a replica of his test just different questions of course. Depending on the class he may allow one index card.

I had him in person last spring and it was such a breeze. He goes over all material and goes over a practice test which is basically a replica of the actual exam. Extra credit is given also. Would definitely take him again if he taught more than this course and trig.
