Dr. Crowe is an amazing professor. His tests are only from what he teaches in class, so it is very straight-forward and there are no trick questions. He gives wonderful notes and explains, in detail, everything so that it is understandable. However, he does not post his notes on WebCT so it is important you attend every class to grasp the concepts.

Dr. Crowe is a really good professor. So far he has actually been my favorite professor. His notes are really good and when it comes to the test there are no surprises because the questions are things we have been over in class. He is also really funny. If you have a chance I would take his class.

Great class!!! the best professor. He wants you to learn and help you do it. I love geology thanks to him. The test are from the lectures... so go to class you will enjoy it.

Crowe is a great teacher! He makes the lessons fun and the tests are easy if you pay attention to the lectures and don't buy the book. There are short multiple choice quizes every 3 or 4 classes, so make sure you go or you'll miss one. They're very easy if you pay attention in class, I only have ever missed 1 question at most.

He was funny, and i learned a whole lot in his class! Take him!

Dr. Crowe is an outstanding professor. He makes the material easy to understand and doesn't make the tests insanely hard. He has a great sense of humor and would always make me laugh in class. Definately recommend him!

great class, maked rocks interesting, does not teach in the fall, so try to get him in the spring. deff go on the field trips for this or any geol class, it will bump up your grade 3-5 whole points

I had Crowe for the "Finite Resources, Infinite Thirst" freshman seminar. He's a really cool guy and provided a lot of advice to us freshman. Even though I don't know him in a "real" class, his personality is great.

I hate science but this guy is AWESOME. Definitely one of the best core classes I've taken. He makes everything so interesting and he's hysterical, realistic, and tells it like it is. Please take this class if you need another elective!!!

He's hilarious. I took his basic geology course and thought I would hate it, but he actually made it fairly interesting. He explains things well and goes off on tangents that are always hysterical. Definitely take a class with him if you get the chance!

I don't even like Geology, but I love this class. As long as you go to class and take good notes, you will be fine. He gives random quizes, but they are straight from the lectures- so are the tests. I think I have looked at the book 2 times. He is an excellent teacher and he makes his students actually care about what he is saying.

Absolutely AMAZING professor. I'm already a fan of physical science but this class was above and beyond what I expected. He is completely clear in lectures (which aren't mandatory but you won't want to miss). He tells it straight and adds hillarious comments throughout (including chipmunk refrences). Take this class!

This class was amazing. I originally took it because I thought it would be really easy, but I ended up loving the class. Professor Crowe is one of, if not the best professor I've ever had. He made class so interesting and funny too. Tests and quizzes are easy, straight from the lectures. Go to class, you'll fall in love with this course. I promise.

Dr. Crowe taught my geology class with powerpoints that he posted prior to each class. His multiple choice tests and quizes came straight from those powerpoints. He was always willing to help his students and made sure we were comfortable with the material. He had a great attitude every day and had a good sense of humor.

This class is great. Dr. Crowe is fantastic. He uses a lot of dry humor which breaks up the long lecture hours on T/R and he is definitely out there to make sure you succeed. I had no interest in Geology, and now I've decided to double major, adding Geo to my course load. Tests are a breeze, just show up and take notes.

Crowe is an excellent teacher. I had no interest in Geology before this class, but he tries not to make it boring and makes funny jokes throughout. There are three tests and a final and eight quizzes but he drops the lowest one. The lab that goes with this class is also REALLY easy. Definitely one of my favorite classes.

He is awesome. Attendance is not mandatory but he does give pop quizes. He remembered me like two years after I took his course and encouraged me throughout when I was having a difficult time at UGA. He is a great professor and very helpful!!! He makes this class interesting. I had no interest in the environment before I took this class.

Dr. Cr was an EXCELLENT teacher. seemed arrogant at 1st but actually friendly smart & helpful. You have to study in this class bc of "pop" quizzes but he warns you the day be4. There is a decent amount of notes but all straightforward. Office hrs were helpful he let me see what questions I missed on a test and write them down.

He is the best teacher i have ever had at UGA....he is very intelligent and knows what his talking about but is not prideful. He gives both sides of every story and loves to teach. Very fun class and going to class is actually fun with Crowe

Ok, this is how you are going to ace this guys class: USE A VOICE RECORDER!!! All of his test questions come from his lectures.. If you record all of them and listen right before test day you should have no trouble at all.

It's a lot of information and it's easy to get confused. For some reason I made really good grades on the quizzes but bombed the tests. Just study ALOT! There are pop quizzes but he drops the lowest one. Other than that, Crowe is a great teacher and he makes class interesting

Crowe knows everything about the material he teaches. He is not cocky about the information and always welcomes questions. He is ALWAYS available for help if you need him by office hours, or through e-mail, he is very prompt. He tries the best he can to make the class interesting even though the material is boring. Presents both sides. hard tests

Dr. Crowe is an extremely qualified and engaging professor. He is inspiring and teaches his class in a very straight forward manner with lecture notes every class. Periodically he will give out quizzes that covered previous lecture material but they aren't difficult. No crazy papers, only three multiple choice exams. GOOD CLASS

Wow Crowe is awesome. He truely understands Geology in a way that he can teach so that the information is crystal clear. He is hilarious which at times makes you forget you are learning about Geology. CLASS NOTES TESTS!!! Do not buy the book unless you have difficulty looking graphs he shows on the projector which sometimes contain test questions

Crowe is awesome. He makes Geology so interesting and I look forward to going to that class. Only 3 tests and some quizzes which are super easy multiple choice straight from lecture. He even curves tests so that 20% of students receive As. BEST class to take for a non science major physical science credit. And the lab for this course is easy too.

He makes lectures easy to listen to. Tests are over material covered in class (not always in the book) so go to class. Everything is really easy to understand. Gives in-class quizzes (with warning) and 3 tests+ final (made A's to A-'s and barely studied). He actually made me kind-of like geology. Go to class & you won't have anything to worry about

Crowe is hilarious in that "dad" kind of way, and sometimes just in general. Explains things very clearly, makes rocks and water far more interesting than I thought possible, and has some of the easiest tests/quizzes I've ever taken. Would definitely recommend this class and professor. Warning: the lab is boring as can be, but also very easy.

Had to take this class. Luckily, he's an awesome teacher. I missed class one day, and he printed me out all of the notes and sat down with me to go over them to make sure I understood the material. He's sooo funny, just make sure to write down everything he puts on the board. 5 pop quizzes & 3 tests, just pay attention and you'll be fine

Teacher is solid. Lets be real, you're taking this as an easy A requirement. The thing is if you treat it like an easy A and just go to class and don't study in anyway shape or form you're gonna get a B. Everything is straight from the notes. That said he gives you everything you need to succeed. Funny dude but the material...

Crowe was great. You have 3 tests, 1 final,5 pop quizzes (that he tells you when they are&don't be afraid to ask either). He'll tell you, go to class and you'll pass, and nothing could be more true. Crowe realizes this is a prerequisite for most of us, and he isn't trying to kill your GPA. I only used the textbook for review, so rent if you can!

CROWE IS MY FAV PROFESSOR. Wish I could have him for every class. He's hilarious but also gives great lectures that are straight to the point and easy to understand. Tests/quizzes are only lecture-based so you just have to pay attention! He's always available to give you help/answer questions. I HIGHLY recommend. Can't stress enough how funny he is

I really enjoyed this class way more than i expected, and i give that credit to him. He's 100% real with you and I feel like he's truly just trying to inform the class about the world today. we never had homework, and he says he has pop quizzes but he always tells you the class before that theres going to be a quiz in the upcoming class.

Amazing professor and amazing person. I detest science and he made the material interesting, understandable, and enjoyable. He says tests come straight from the notes, but that's only if you take super specific notes - go to class and write down every minor detail he says, because it'll be on the test. Didn't open the textbook once. I loved him!

He is pretty interesting and very nice. A lot of his lectures can be boring, but I learned a lot. No homework, but there are "pop" quizzes which he always mentions ahead of time. His tests are straight from lecture and easy. The labs were pretty boring and kinda annoying.

Doug is a gem. Pretty easy class. Quizlet can be your best friend for studying for quizzes and tests. Take this guy.

LOVED Professor Crowe! I am 100% not a science person, but this class is insanely interesting and straightforward. He will never try to trick you on any assessments, so as long as you know the lectures you're guaranteed a good grade. This is a very low-stress class. There are 4 quizzes, 2 tests, and a final.

Grade is based on 2 midterms, 1 cumulative final, 4-5 quizzes.

Doug is Awsome the test can be a little tricky but if you just go to class you will be fine he is super funny in lectures and just an overall great guy. he understanding and almost convinced me to become a geology major, take his class. I barely studied, just took notes in class and I was fine

One of the best professors at UGA! I took this course as a requirement and thought it would be boring, but he's absolutely hilarious and makes lectures very entertaining. As long as you attend class/take notes and study a bit, you'll love the class and the professor. Definitely take this professor!

I LOVED THIS CLASS. I had no idea what to expect from a GEOL class, but I learned so much from this one. Dr. Crowe made talking about waste disposal interesting. You do have to show up to class for sure. You'll do fine as you take notes and read over the textbook chapters (which I probably should've done a bit more).

Doug is actually the best. He makes an intro geology class interesting by focusing on a lot of things relevant to people who aren't geology majors. It is test and quiz heavy but he curves HARD and it helps everyone. Super funny and casual as well, but still super knowledgeable.

1st off, don't buy the textbook; you don't need it. It would be best if you showed up to lectures; they're funny and contain great exam information. He has five quizzes and four tests, but he gives crazy curves. He is really helpful and super accessible outside of class. As a non-geo major, I always found class fun and interesting. 100% recommend.

Crowe is an amazing professor and I would take him as a professor for any course. Attending class and taking notes is a must to be successful in this class. The amount of work you put in will reflect how good your final grade is.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He's very reasonable and tries really hard to give people a good grade. You have to attend lectures to get the notes, but the lectures are so fun it wasn't bad at all. Grades were just quizzes, tests, and a final and it was all lecture-based. Super easy class, Doug will make sure you succeed, if you show up to class and listen you will be fine, but it's hard to know what's on the exam if you don't show up to class so attendance isn't MANDATORY but to do well in the class you should show up. Super easy tho.

Doug is a caring, funny guy. And the content is relatively interesting. But, you're only graded on 4 short quizzes, 2 tests, and the final exam, which can be a little rough. Also, you have to go to class, he doesn't post slides and missing a day can put you behind quite a bit. Good class, but avoid if you're just looking for a science req.

Doug has easily been one of my favorite professors and I definitely recommend taking his class. His 1121 is not the easiest class because if you mess up one of the exams making up the majority of your grade, you will get a less than desired grade. However, Doug's fun personality and quips make showing up to class something to look forward to.

If you show up to class and take notes regularly/study it's pretty hard to not do well in Doug's class. He's passionate about the material and cares about his students. The lectures can be long but they're entertaining-he pulls in a lot of his own experience, which keeps things interesting.

Class isn't "mandatory" but you should attend all lectures and take detailed notes or you won't be successful. 2 exams and 1 final weight HEAVY and studying material is very tedious. I rated a 4 b/c he gives the top percent of the class an A but doesn't specify what grade is needed which is STRESSFUL as you don't know until final grades are posted.

Crowe is a great professor and a funny man. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would suggest going to class because the power points he posts are not helpful and all of the material that is on the test is written down on the white board. However, all of the test/quiz questions are pretty straight forward and easy.

GEOL can be boring but he honestly is making me consider a double major in geol. He is the goat. He funny and nice and the class is so easy.

Geology isn't something super interesting in my opinion, however he made the class enjoyable. His class is graded based on tests which are harder than the quizzes but not too bad. He's somewhat of a lenient grader however you will have to study before the tests if you want an A. He presented Geology in an unbiased and as interesting way as possible

The best word to describe this prof is simply straight-forward. There are two exams, four quizzes, and a final, and every question is straight from the notes. He doesn't try to trick you. Everything is taught in lecture so you really have to show up to class and he doesn't allow phones. But he's great at explaining the material. highly recommend

Dr. Crowe is really funny and and has pretty engaging lectures. There are tests, quizzes, and a final and he drops your lowest quiz. His lecture notes are EXACTLY what is on the tests. If you study the notes, you will do well. The questions are extremely basic and do not try to trick you in any way whatsoever. I really enjoyed his class.

Don't buy the optional textbook; you will never use it. He is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. His lectures are straightforward, and he genuinely wants his students to do well. Prof. Crowe is a weird, weird guy. He's like a hobo with a geology hobby, but he is such a good professor. All his lectures are in person -- and if you want to pass, mandatory (no attendance taken), he writes everything on the board and does not post much, so just show up! He is hilarious, and if you talk to him, he really does want you to pass.

Best science teacher I have ever had as an avid science hater. Super funny and friendly easy access outside of class, lenient with missing exams and quizzes, super easy to reschedule with. Makes things I never understood in high school the most straight forward things ever. Attendance isn't "mandatory" but missing lecture isn't a good idea.

doug is a great prof and understands this is a intro geology class and wants his students to do good. my only thing was that the exams are kinda hard but as long as you GO TO CLASS and take good notes youll be fine. final is a cummulative exam that sucks but wtv

You basically need to go to class in order to do well on the final because he does not post lecture notes, so take lots of notes. However, the content is pretty common-sense stuff that I learned through middle school and high school, so no need to worry about that. Overall, super chill dude, but go to class because there aren't a lot of grades.
