he is a pretty low key kinda guy. if your there your there... if our not then its on you. he helps you if you fall behind!! homework mainly due at the end of sems. so don't wait till the end to do it.. good ideas on teaching!
if it wasn't for the his assistant i would have been so lost. you have to submit all assignments through black board and there were many assignments he lost. it was annoying. he's a new teacher so he gives a lot of busy work not way hard, but he's not good at clarifying.
This class was SUPER easy. He follows right from the book and class got boring but it's a simple class to breeze through if you need a couple credits. He worked really well when I had to turn something in late.
Prof Gardner is really easy going and fun to be around. He jokes around and is generally in a personable and good mood all the time. He makes it a point to learn all of his students names. He does require a TON of busy work and class participation. I showed up every class period but one, did what I was assigned and received 100%.
Unfortunately Mr. Gardner seems to get a little ahead of himself and is not as thorough as I hoped he'd be with explaining his own Syllabus.
He is an awkward teacher. He'll try to get the class to participate and talk but it would be quiet! When you finally talk he will just sit there and stare at you for an extra 7 seconds and it's just so uncomfortable and awkward.
This class was completely useless. It was tons of busy work while we really got nowhere from the busy work. It is difficult to keep up and none of the assignments are really ever explained. I do not recommend this class.
What a tool. Doug takes his rather meaningless class WAY too seriously. Don't get me wrong, the class work mindlessly easy, but he loads you up with so much busy work that it is difficult to keep up when you have work and a full class load. I wouldn't recommend his class to my worst enemy.
I really liked this class and the professor. The class discussions were enjoyable and it really did help me to be a better student. I recomend.
He introduced us to a lot of helpful resources and we talked about a lot of things that are important for making career choices. I liked meeting with him in his office. Talking to him about my career was really helpful.
Dr. Gardner is a very good teacher. I had him for Career and Major Exploration, in which he showed my class many ways how to research jobs and talk to others about their jobs. The class didn't help me find a major, which was a drawback, but it was still a very good class. Recommended.
He genuinely desires to help students in their decision making.
His class was super boring. I learned a few things that were interesting. I wouldn't recommend this class to ANYONE from ANY TEACHER. But if you HAVE to take it he was super easy. He is awkward and boring. No tests, Three 1 page papers and a group final. My wife is taking this same class from Michelle Taylor and she easily has triple the work load.
Doug Gardner is a straight up baller! Favorite professor of all time. I didn't receive a high grade because I didn't work hard in his class haha This teacher will make you feel at home, plus he remembers everybody's name! Chyeah!
Doug is the man. He is one of my favorite teachers of all time. The class was super fun. Not a huge work load. Doug takes the time to help and is super nice. He was awesome in helping me if i ever fell behind. TAKE DOUG if you take this class!
If you get this class, I say take him. But I don't know any other teachers that teach that class so I can't compare.
I love Doug but I don't recommend this class. I had more work in this class than any other class I was taking. You learn things like "note taking" and most of it is just common sense, but it isn't just an easy a. For the longest time my whole class though that we had 2 big papers due because of how they were described, but it was 1.
Doug made the class personal. He has genuine interest in his students and their progress. He was nice and friendly, easy to talk to and get a hold of. This class taught me a lot about myself and helped me to find a career that best fit me. I would definitely recommend this class to everyone, even if you already have a major and/or career.
Doug is one of the nicest teachers i've had. He makes the class focus more on helping you pick a major rather than just getting a good grade, so he is lenient on late work and grades easy. You will get out of this class what you put into it, and he is just there to help you.
Doug is a great guy. Super nice and genuine, but has several busy work assignments that I don't think were necessary. Good class for all incoming students and I can see why it is recommended. If it wasn't for the Mentor in the class I think I would have gone crazy, he has become a friend and is the one that made my time there enjoyable.
Great class to take online, if you need it but don't have the time. All assignments are due by Sun., sometimes you need to post to a discussion by Wed., and then reply to others' posts by Sun. He had what I thought to be easy assignments - I usually did them on Saturday or Sunday, and turned them in on time. Great teacher, great class.
This class was kind of a joke, Counselor said I needed to take it since I am a freshman. Tons of busy work that doesn't really apply to real life, all common sense. He loves doing his presentations on weird stuff. Graded on attendance. Friend was in same course but with lisa lambert, she loved it. Take from her if you have to.
Doug is very knowledgeable but more importantly, he is passionate about the field he works in. He is driven to help his students succeed and interested in how each student is doing. The course helped me find confidence in my major path and helped me build bravery
There are lots of assignments, many of them are done simply to just get a grade. He treats us like we are in highschool. He takes a different approach to teaching but it ends up being more work on our end. My brother was in Mr. Eckton's class last semester and he adored that man. Had a very good experience with him, I unfortunately had the opposite
Doug is one of the most influential instructors I have ever had. He really understands what college students want to know about the college experience. He treated every student with care and concern. His course helped me discover my major and for that I will forever be grateful. WE LOVE YOU DOUG!
Doug gears is classes toward his students' needs. He uses personal examples from his own career struggles so we can feel more comfortable in our self-exploration
Doug is a really great guy. He deserves a higher rating for sure! You get what you put into it, just like everything. Because of this class, I know my major, I have an internship, and many connections. He is willing to bend over backwards for you. The so called "busy work" will benefit you and your career choosing.
If you truly are struggling to find a career or major that is for you, this is not the class. You would be more productive spending time on the internet than going to class. Tons of busy work assignments, half of the kids make them up so if you just want to pass the class, sure take it, but you will not gain anything from his assignments.
If you are looking for a class where you get to meet different people everyday and learn about their careers and how they got into them/what path they took in college for their careers this class is NOT for you. This class has LOTS of busy work in my opinion. Doug is a very nice professor though and is very helpful. Relatively easy A.
I loved taking this class. It opened so many possibilities that I had never considered. Doug Gardner is such a great teacher and really wants you to succeed in the future. I took so much from this class.
Doug's awesome! He really understands students and is helpful with wanting to progress with your future career. He also truly cares for his students.
I really took away a lot from this class. Doug is really a great teacher. He means well and wants to help you at any way he can. Really enjoyed taking his class. This class was very beneficial.
Doug really deserves a better score on here. Those who gave him poor score didn't take the time or opportunity to truly benefit from him or the class, and really it's up to you how much you want to get out of this class. I found Doug to be very kind, and helpful. He really cares about each of the students, and wants to see you do well.
Prof. Gardner is a great teacher, he wants his students to succeed not only in his class but in school. He's willing to work with you to help you get the best grade. He also wants you to learn valuable lessons + different ideas to help you in your career. He provided info and assignments that helped me to finally decide a major that I am happy with.
Overall Doug is a wonderful teacher. He always has a positive attitude and is willing to work with you and your situation. Although some of the assignments are busy work, the core assignments help you gain the skills you need for the rest of your schooling. This class helped me find the major and career I want to pursue.
I really enjoyed this class! Doug is a wonderful teacher and really cares about each of his students. He makes it a goal to learn the name of each student and to meet with them and get to know their needs better. This class was both inspiring and a lot of fun.
While the class was REALLY good, I didn't like the "sit in a circle" when we had people come to class, it's not fun when you have moment sensory issues and your stuck next to two people and across from people who cant stop wiggling.
He is a very great professor. And if you ever need help with anything you can go to him, he is willing to help out.
Doug was amazing, he really cares about his students. There is a lot of homework, but it's fairly easy. I felt very comfortable and looked forward to going to class. I highly recommend this teacher!
Doug is a really sweet guy and grades very fairly. I attended class 70% of the time and still got an A. There is a lot of busy work I feel, you must attend school fairs and schedule interviews and job shadows a lot. More homework and assignments than needed. Good course to take if you need to learn more about yourself.
Doug is a great professor. This class is really great for those who are looking for direction for their major and career. The "busy work" people talk about isn't busy work, and there isn't very much of it. All of the assignments were applicable and beneficial, and Doug really is interested in each student. Overall an easy A, and a great experience.
He gave a lot of busy work that didn't really help me find a major but his job shadow assignment was helpful and when he would bring in speakers in that was also helpful.
this professor has done a great job. he was a great teacher all semester. If we had a question he would answer it for you. he would give good feedback on assignments we have done. he was great to talk to and always wanted to help you if you needed it for assignments. he is respectful, kind, hardworking, and a good person. I would recommend him.
He certainly was one of the best teachers I have ever met and knows his material well - a man who is attentive to detail and willing to hear the advice/tips/thoughts of the students.
I personally loved having Doug as a teacher, he was reasonable in the amount of work he gave, he was willing to hear your side and really genuinely cared about your grade and your participation, but he wasn't nagging or rude about it! Would definitely recommend!
Great professor! Really enjoyed the discussion and the activities, both in the class and outside of the classroom. Speaks clearly and makes sure that all questions are answered. Also liked the optional assignments and the learning experiences they provided.
Doug Gardner is one of the most caring, good hearted, and respectful professors I have ever had. He helped me see what I needed to do to get my grade up, and offered more help along the way. I got an A! Not only that, but he helped me see and learn things about myself I didn't know before his class!
I thoroughly enjoy going to his class, I leave feeling confident in my future. The only real downside is that there are many readings you need to keep updated on about every other day
Really enjoyed this class and learned a lot about myself and helped me further my career decision making. Well worth the class work, and such a great teacher!
Lots of busy work but Mr. Gardner is very helpful and wants you to succeed. Easy class if you want the A.
I really enjoyed this class. Doug is very open and willing to work with you if you are honest with him. This course really helped me understand more about myself. Everyone in my class was open and accepting.
Doug Gardner has been a great professor. He connected with us really well and he helped make sure that we had lots of different examples of people who were exactly in the same situation as we are.
Was very caring and kind professor. Made a grading mistake that was never fixed and hurt my grade. E-mailed him multiple times about it, but was never fixed.
I enjoyed Doug's 2100 class and have a good idea of some future careers I'm interested in. I also loved how involved Doug is in each class discussion. I would recommend this class to all students that are having a hard time deciding the right career for them. It is also important to know that part of our grade in the class is based on attendance.
Gardner is nice. He shares personal experience too much, like his marital problems and financial status, but he genuinely cares about each student and their success. He will stop grading your assignments if you don't go to class though and that was bad for a minute. Overall though the class was helpful and effective, I chose my major because of it!
Great teacher and a great class. Attendance does matter though so you can't skip too many times.
Doug is a wonderful professor. He is kind and cares about each student. He is more than willing to help each student according to their specific needs. He helps each student to be successful. He teaches to needs and what is relevant to the class. I am grateful for Doug and all I learned from him. Take classes with Doug. It is beyond worth it.
Awesome teacher. You will do well if you go to class and do the readings that prepare you for the in class discussions. He works really well with students and is very understanding of circumstances
A lot of small reading assignments they only take a few minutes to do there is just a lot so its a little tedious. it is good if you do need help for career direction though!
Most chill man alive. All he cares about is that you truly learn something from his class, and have a desire to utilize that in your life at some point. He is passionate about the criteria and believes it can be helpful. Such a good guy!
Doug truly is special. He cares about the students. Not all teachers do.. Sadly.. He wants his students to succeed and he has a big heart. #Doug4Pres2020
This is probably the easiest class I've taken. I actually learned things about myself and what careers I'm interested in and would like to do in this class. Just go to class and do the assignments and you'll pass.
Aids his students in choosing the right career.
Doug is really nice and I enjoyed his class. I learned a lot about myself and my major. The only issue I had is that Doug gives WAY too much busy work. All of the assignments are super easy, but this class has more busy work than any class I've ever taken. It's an easy A if you can stay on top of everything.
Doug is the best guy out there! He cares about his class and everyone in it. He's very flexible to giving extra points if you have a good reason. The best part of his class, is it's one of those few classes that you'll actually look forward to attending. 10/10 would talk this class again.
Doug is such a nice guy. He is willing to work with you and helps you achieve the grade you deserve. Attendance is mandatory. You have an average amount of homework in this class. Great teacher definitely would recommend.
If you want to be productive and learn things in this class then you will learn a lot. If you don't care, this class won't help you. He requires you to take responsibility for your learning and grade.
This guy is my idol. He cares about you and is willing to help you when needed. Hes extremely kind and a wonderful listener. He is real with you and will say the truth about things. Hes a great example and one of those guys you just love and trust.
Doug was awesome! He really cares about the success of his students. Ive never seen a midterm or final as easy as his. It was a breeze and class flew by fast.
Hes awesome
Very good with a positive attitude.
Doug is amazing. He is very caring, thoughtful, and his class was just very interesting as well. There are a lot of group in class activities and discussions. You will do a few presentations, but these are really easy and can be very simple. You will be required to show up and be on time, but he is very kind and never makes rude comments. Awesome!
Doug is a really great professor, he really does care about his student all he wants to do is help you. He is really good at getting participation of course you have to give participation but he asks a lot of questions that encourage it. Honesty the class work is really simple but necessary. Just keep up on the learning journals and do you final.
Hes a super nice guy but the class was sooo boring! We literally just got in groups and discussed the same concepts... like literally every freakin day!
Doug has a passion for what he teaches. His class is really easy (mostly busy work). Your grade will be determined by attendance, participation and the effort you put in.
Doug is very easy to get along with. I enjoyed his enthusiasm for life in the classroom as well as for his relationships with the students. There is a lot of busy-work assignments but nothing you cant do or that is a waste of time!
Doug is a very good guy. He has a lot of enthusiasm but his class is very tedious. I honestly think I would've learned more just by reading the book instead of taking the class. There were a lot of busy work assignments. But, you do learn some good things in the class and Doug is a pretty cool person.
Doug likes to see the you are applying what you are learning, so get ready for a lot of busy work! He is very kind and enthusiastic about his job and his relationships with the students.
He is a very caring professor and expresses plenty of enthusiasm within the classroom. There is a lot of homework, but nothing that is wasteful of time or long term success.
This class didnt really help me at all, and Doug wasnt very helpful. He talks about himself a lot and doesnt seem to focus on helping his students very much.
Doug is honestly a good dude, and he cares about what he teaches, however if you are looking for credits, take a different class. This class didn't help me really at all and was the definition of busy work. Your grade is based off of attendance, yet you wouldn't miss much if you didn't go so it was kind of frustrating.
Hes a great professor! I would recommend him to others for sure!!
I really respect Doug and how much he cares about what he teaches! This class really is an easy A IF you are willing to put in the effort and work and do the assignments. A lot of the assignments and activities we do seemed like busy work and added extra stress, but overall it wasn't horrible.
Doug was a great professor! He's super kind and caring. While there are a lot of assignments they are pretty manageable and not over whelming. 10/10 would recommend his class
Doug is a guy who really loves his job. But be careful, the first half of the semester is a breeze and the second half hits you like a truck with all the projects. It's a little difficult to stay on top, but I skipped a few and ended with a B so it's doable.
If you want a class that feels like high school, take this class. Doug is kind, but treats you like children. I took 15 credits and his class always demanded more than my biology class.
Doug is an amazing professor who pushes you to do your best and work your hardest to achieve the best possible results. In the Career and Explorations class, he encourages his students to go outside of their comfort zones in the best way possible, and you'll find that a lot of his assignments require you to go out and increase your network.
when You look at canvas of your phone, his assignments are not in chronological order. I missed assignments because of this problem and my grade suffered.
Doug Gardner is a great professor. It is obvious that he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. He always gives great insight and helps us think and see the options that we have in life. He gives enough homework that helps us be able to learn things on our own, but not too much that it's super overwhelming. He has done a great job.
Good professor and great class. helped me decide what I wanted to do in life.
Professor Gardner is an awesome professor. In Career & Major Exploration he really cares about the students and helps you figure things out. We had a couple of group activities as well as personal learning activities. Super easy daily classwork, a super easy final presentation, and daily attendance is part of the grade. 10/10 would recommend.
It is rare to find a teacher who cares as much about their students' success as prof Gardner. He has a very well organized schedule of assignments and communicates well through canvas. If you keep up on the the coursework--which isn't very heavy--it will be an easy, but meaningful class.
Professor Gardner has been one of my best professors this semester. He truly cares about his students and is very accommodating to his students. This class was honestly the best class I took this semester and helped me learn about myself so I could succeed. He is the best!!
Professor Gardner is a fun and upbeat teacher. You can tell he cares about the students. This course really helped me gear my interests with my career.
Great teacher. Very kind and understanding, the lectures are very easy and practical. I had a great time and learned a lot.
If you stay on top of deadlines you will get an A right out away. He shows empathy and does care about your situation. If you were to submit a late assignment just let him know. He will help you.
Dr. Garnder is awesome. I really liked him because he was always a listener. He is willing to work with you if you had something happen and your homework is late. But you gotta show up! Sometimes his activities don't make sense but in the end, they all pretty much come together. He has a lot of connections to help in finding a major! I recommend!
Doug is such a nice guy and really cares about his students. This class is an easy A if you show up and do your assignments.
Really chill guy! Easy to work with and he made the class not be stressful.
I have work in the mornings and sometimes i work all day he lets me turn in assignments the next day or when I have time even though I know i wont be recieving the qhole credit.
Great teacher, you will get an A if you do the work, lots of busy work
Mr. Gardner is a very good teacher. He alwasy gives very clear instructions and the homework assignments are very helpful for finding the best career.
Professor Gardner was a pretty good professor. He was really nice and genuinely wanted the best for us. He's a solid choice for a professor in this class, I would recommend him. One thing to look out for is some of the assignments have wrong due dates or little to no instruction on how to complete and he sometimes takes long to respond to emails.
This class was very good. the professor is super helpful and gives you tons of help on your assignments and if you miss one he works with you on completing it due to each situation. There is no real set due dates and doesn't mark late assignments ( due to online environment)
Doug is an awesome professor and really cares about his students! He takes the time to talk to his students one on one and wants to see you succeed. His class was super helpful and id love to take another class from him!
Super a great teacher and was always willing to help. The class was mandatory and graded(one part I didn't like) but you can't have it all. All in all, he was great!
Doug is an amazing professor, one of the best at UVU. He really cares about his students and everything he did was to help us see our potential. There are a lot of assignments but they are very easy and fun. Everything you do in this class is to help YOU! Show up willing to learn with an open mind and take a chance and it'll change your life.
Amazing teacher!!!! So nice and kind. His class is really easy and he is a very understanding professor.
Seriously my favorite professor of the semester.
He is a good teacher who helped me understand online personality quizzes and know/discover more about myself.
Professor Gardner is so great! He works really well with each student and cares more about your learning than the grade. I would definitely take another class from him! He is super chill but attendance is counted toward your grade so I would take that into consideration. A lot of the assignments are interactive busy work but overall fun class!
I loved taking this class. I was able to learn so much from my professor, and he was very helpful. If anyone asked me about this class, I would highly suggest it with Professor Gardner.
I REALLY recommend taking Doug. He is so nice and understanding if you have something going on and need to turn something in late. He is one of my favorite professors and this class will NOT stress you out. There are quite a bit of assignments but they are all really easy.
he schedules a lot of assignments throughout the week, making it very inconvenient to take his class, unless you are doing school full time.
Truly seems like he cares about your future and helping you throughout class. I love how personal he gets at times
Very understanding if you talk to him about any situation you have going on. Always shared stories relating to the topics we were talking about and made class so much fun.
A super caring and kind professor, every freshman honestly should take his class. He is very clear with his expectations but patient with due dates. Lots of homework and attendance is crucial for an A. That being said if you are doing the workload when you are supposed to its not nearly as hard as people are making it sound.
Tons of busy work. If you stay on top of all the little assignments you'll succeed.
He has a lot more of little assignments than expected... often times it is repetetive. He does care about the students success a lot though. And is willing to help you succeed
Gardner cares about his job and his students. Warm, caring, and enthusiastic! Would recommend!
Great professor but if I had one thing for him to change is entering late homework because some students turn in a bit late cause of outside school issues
He inspired me in many ways to be a better person. I haven't gotten perhaps the best grades in the class, but I feel like I still have succeeded by getting to understand myself better.
Professor Gardener is a very good teacher who really cares more about what you have learned rather than just completing busy work.
Doug gives you that dad vibe. I like his teaching style and how accommodating he is.
He is a great Professor and is very understanding.
Be prepared for a lot of in-class discussions and activities with peers, and also a lot of reflection about yourself. Doug is the best and definitely makes everyone feel heard. there are a couple of projects along the way that might be harder than others. You're gonna have to do interviews and job shadowing but overall they're all pretty easy.
Great Professor!
He's a really nice guy. when I need help or didn't understand was never upset or mean about simply helping me. really good with the class and liked talk with everyone.
Doug is such a home dawg. The worst part about the class is how many assignments there are, but they take around 5 minutes, and honestly, there aren't even that many. He has a dad vibe, and ngl he's way cooler than my own dad so props for that. The class was fun, mostly because my homies were there. We know who the real winners are.
This class was so much funHe really pushes students to interact and become friends He really cares about the progress of each student Doug and I genuinely became friends over the course He gives a lot of homework but it's easyish to manage He helped me really envision what the future could be in an inspiring way I felt confident leaving his class
He Is a very respected professor and shares a lot of his own personal stories from his past. Very nice and does a lot of collaboration among the class
Made the class fun, more than just a class. It was a community. The class helps with many aspects of your life and i found lots of the assignments enjoying.
He is a cool guy
I really enjoyed him as a professor, and his Career and Major Exploration class was helpful, it didn't tell me what I wanted to do in life, however it did teach me a lot about myself
He is a good teacher who cares about his students and wants to help them find a career. A typical class consisted of him giving a lecture and throughout the lecture he would break us off in groups and we would discuss questions he gave us. There are usually 3 homework assignments a week. 2 can be done in less than 5 min. but the other takes longer.
Assignments were very easy and within the assignment you could choose what you read. They were super easy and interesting to learn about. I learned so much about myself and it helped me find what I like and especially what I don't like. He is a fun guy, and cares a lot about your personal learning. If you participate and show up it will be great!
Doug Gardner He is outstanding professor he is 100% into his teaching and passionate about his student's future careers and majors. I like how he said, " it's okay not having major pick out dip your toe in the water and see if you like it". If I get lost again with on deciding a major again, I will take his class again!
makes it really easy to learn the information
very good teacher! due dates are a little random and confusing sometimes but it's ok. he also doesn't take late work which is mid. very silly man
He is an a great teacher. He talks a lot but in a good way. He is polite and doesn't get angry. He is chill
Professor Gardner is amazing! You can tell he really cares about his students and wants to help them succeed in their future careers. You take lots of personality tests and they are super helpful. I highly recommend this class especially with Professor Gardner. I loved this class and learned so much
Doug is super awesome!! He is really fun and even though he has you do many things outside of class, his resources, and assignments have really helped me find what I wanted to do in life. Very inspiring, and genuinely cares about his students. He makes you get out there and explore the career world.
He will work with anyone.
He gives great assignments that really help, and grades fairly and directly from rubrics so it is easy to get an A. Super fun and has a very interactive style of teaching.
Make sure to arrive on time and every day to get full credit.
Professor Gardner will make you care about your future.
Overall really good. In SLSS 1200, every class we discussed assignments in groups of three or four about assignments. Which are usually pretty personal since it's self exploration. Doug is also a nice guy. who truly wants to students to be happy and financially stable.
he is a good teacher, but the major and career class is more of a self discovery class.
Doug is awesome. I took a career exploration class from him and you can just tell he cares about students and our success. His class has a steady flow of small assignments, but they all are helpful and we don't have much busy work. His large projects are beneficial to your progress so it's all worth it.
He is a very good professor and he appreciates when everyone participates. The activities he does are so fun!!! His class has definitely helped me get out of my shell more and learn more about myself and different careers I could be interested in.
Seriously the best !!! The class was always fun, and super social which was good for making connections and friends.
He cares about his students and wants them to succeed not only in class but in the outside world. I learned a lot about myself and what I am interested in pursuing through his class.
Doug has been one of my favorite teachers. Very flexible, gets to know you on a personal level, and gives great advice! I really suggest taking a class from him. I learned so many great life lessons from him.
Very clear instructions on assignments which are not difficult at all. Teaches great lessons and is a caring, humble person. Overall great professor!
This was one of my favorite classes I've taken. He helped me enjoy school while helping us all try and figure out what we wanted to do. He loves putting his students in social settings to get them to start talking, it was great. He is always so positive and willing to help you if you take the time to come to class and do the assignments. Great man.
This course is a lot about learning about you and your personality then there are lots of big assignments towards the end of the year.
This professor was amazing! I would definitely take another class from him. He has good assignments and is very easy on grading if you communicate with him. He is very strict on attendance and you most likely can not pass his class without showing up.
Such an awesome professor that really cares about his students and helping them on their career discovery. If you stay on top of assignments, the course load isn't bad.
This professor is awesome, he is very passionate and happy, he is willing to help you in any way that you need and the class is very easy, you get out what you put into this class
Great professor! You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to succeed, not only in his class but in life. Very valuable lectures which give life skills, and allow you to learn more about yourself.
Professor Gardner is a wonderful teacher. I took the Career and Major exploration class and it really helped me find more about who I am and really narrowed down my career decision. Mr Gardner is really great, he has you do a one on one and really connects with you. Lastly there are readings before every class but you only have to write a sentence.
Great professor, but could use fun activities like kahoot. My class was pretty dead and needed an icebreaker.
Doug is very helpful and you can tell he wants the best for us. This class included a lot of group discussions and activities. We had easy reading assignments to do before every class, and we didn't get marked for late work. He is very understanding. I learned a lot about myself in this class, it was very helpful.
Doug is a great teacher. It's an easy class, but it really did help me find out a lot about myself. There is pretty much homework everyday but they are pretty quick and easy.
Remember to check canvas and complete readings. There is no late work.
Awesome professor. Very understanding in situations.
Pretty easy course material, frequent assignments, but they can be knocked out in just a few minutes. Passionate teacher, was able to clearly communicate and me an extension on an important assignment.
awesome professor !!!
Showing and participating will give you an easy A.
Amazing professor!!
he was awesome, our classes were always super engaging, his assignments were helpful to be prepared for the lecture.
Amazing Professor! He really cares about his students and is very inspirational.
pretty easy if you get your stuff done on time. But is weird about attendance.
He is great and fun to be around, I hope I get more teachers like him.
Wonderful professor! He almost always provided feedback on each assignment with a clear rubric on grading that you understand. Even with a few assignments, he gives the option to write an essay OR create a drawing / mind map to explain our thinking process. (He included videos on how to create these ideas, if you are interested.) Best Online Class!
Doug is great and super nice. His class is well organized and fairly easy to succeed in. Just realize that there are a lot of involved assignments such as job shadows and interviews. If you stay on top of your work, plan ahead and put effort in your work, you'll do fine!
Prof. Gardner did a really good job at teaching us how to figure out what we wanted to do by ourselves. He never expected us to choose a major by the end of the semester and met with every student at least once to discuss their personal future and help give first steps to go in that direction. If you take it seriously, this class will really help.
Prof. Gardner runs a well-structured class that encourages self-exploration. While attendance is mandatory, the workload is manageable. unstuck AI's features like mind mapping proved helpful for assignment prep.
The Career Exploration class is more of a self exploration class? He treats the students like they are high school kids. He also tends to change up due dates and grading rubrics a lot during the semester so you should triple check due dates and the descriptions of assignments. I didn't learn much about any degrees or career paths.
Rachel is awesome and very accepting of everyone! Great class and good lectures.
Doug is a fun teacher who at first you might find to be cringy like your dad, but then you really love him as a teacher
I love when I get a good teacher and lucky for me, Doug was just that. Teachers are best when they are passionate about their course subject AND teaching it. Doug cares greatly about the success of his students and does what he can to make the class the best it can be.
BE AWARE that Doug doesn't say much abt the big assignments. I kept waiting to learn in class HOW to get/do informational interviews & job shadows, but it was never explained and suddenly they were due. Learn on your own and do them all by Sept/Oct!! Doug is sweet & cares a lot about what he teaches, but was dodgy whenever I asked for help.
He was very sincere to his students. He supported all of us and helped us when we were struggling. He went over the topic clearly to make sure we understood what was expected from us as students.
One of the most genuine and caring teachers I've ever had. Really cares about you and helping you find your path of success. Lots of group work which created a great class atmosphere since everyone knew each other. Pretty lenient grader. There are some bigger projects like interviews which you are given a range of time to complete on your own.
Stay on top of the assignments.
Doug is awesome! He really cares about his students, and is very passionate about what he teaches. His class was very interactive and upbeat. There wasn't a lot of homework, but there were frequent, little reading assignments (took about 5 minutes) due before each class. They weren't just busy work, though. I learned a lot from this class!
He is always looking for ways to help the students improve and learn more about themselves!
