Great professor. Shows a lot of passion for the subject and is eager for his students to get all they can out of the course. 2 midterms, 2 play critiques, final. Study notes and read the assigned plays. Course is well worth it. I highly reccomend him!!

This class is so fulfilling. You will learn a lot and feel like you have the opportunity to make a difference. Professor Kaback is one of the nicest people in the world. He's always doing something to help others and to truly understand others. I highly reccomend this class.

This man broke me down andworkedwith my craft. he helped me to see my own potential that i possesed. I enjoyedworking with him inthe performance manner. He is on top of his game, and he shares his love, his passion with those that are dedicated and want it just as bad as you. if you have a love for acting andyou want to workwith someone who will work with you andnot take no for an answer or settle for less --this is him....he will tear you down and bring you to where you need to be: LOSTIN THE BUST 2004!

Very Highly recommended..... he is a great teacher and is my favorite class of the semester. He is really cool and he gets how to draw in students into his lecture. His class may get a little repetitive in the beginning but it gets better when you start acting. He talks a lot so be prepared to listen to a whole lot before you get to the fun stuff!

Great course, Great prof...he makes the class really fun and interesting...no books needed...you have to show up for class, there are 2 projects..a monolgue and a 2 person scene...he also gives 3 tests...easy though...but if you're taking acting, take it with him...

One of the most fabulous teachers I've ever had the pleasure of working with! His enthusiasm is intoxicating. He is very open and cares a lot about his students. Once you enter into his class you really want to learn how to leave the rest of the world on the outside of those doors and just immerse yourself in discovering what you are capable of.

Awesome theatre teacher. Definitely a blast to learn from. At the same time, he really makes you learn a higher level of acting.

Doug is a really nice guy and a great acting teacher he has a true passion and shares it with his students! I do recomend this class if you want to become an actor or actress!!

I LOVED THIS CLASS! Every day u have fun & do some kind of acting game. You rarely ever write anythin or take notes. Only 3 easy quizs and 3 assignments: a monologue, a partner scene and ONE play review. THATS IT! No hw! He is very funny and very understanding! GREAT TEACHER! U will be friends w/ everyone in the class by the end of the semester.

Best teacher /i've ever had in my life! I had no interest in taking this class whatsoever, but is now my favorite class. Super Super funny, keeps all students engaged, gives all answers to tests, don't have to read because he gives all the notes anyway. Professional actor/director who knows his stuff!

This teacher was absolutely amazing! He is hilarious and so passionate about his job. I always looked forward to theater class! Being outgoing is key in this class. You must be able to jump out of your shell for an hour and 15 minutes and if you're shy and scared to act a little wild in front of others then I do not recommend this class!

Great Professor. i enjoyed his class. this was the 2nd time i took a class with doug and he makes it so easy for you to get a good grade always helpful and offers extra credit to boost your grade highly recomend his classes

Doug is literally my favorite professor at CSUN. I took his Theatre 111 class, then Theatre 310 the following semester. He is strict, but fair, and always makes time for his students. He even let me use him as a reference for a job application. Just do the work, read the text, and participate and you'll pass with no problem.

He is a genius, one of the best teachers/mentors I've had. He loves his job therefore you will get the max knowledge in an easy way. Take his class, you will be happy.

Doug's class is awesome! It's so much fun, he gets time going really quickly. There'll be some small assignments here and there, but this is that one class where you can relax and unwind and be your crazy self.

Very awesome teacher! His personality is fun and really gets you excited. His teaching skills are fun and his lectures are not hard to follow. Exams are a breeze if you go to class. Loved this class and guy so much! Because of him, I have a love for plays.

If you go to class and pay attention the midterm and final are a breeze. His class is a lot of fun so it's not very hard to pay attention in there. There is an additional three quizzes and paper. All of it is very easy. Quizzes are 7 m/c and 3 short answer (very short). Wish I could take again. Books aren't necessary. Just take notes in class.

One of the most fun classes, I've ever had all these years in college. Make sure to take his class, you won't regret it, if anything you'll be glad you did.

Wish I had paid attention more. Some lectures were a bit hard to follow. However, I really enjoyed the plays we had to watch and I learned so much about theater from this class. You really do get what you deserve. 4 easy m/c quizzes, 1 critique, 1 midterm, 1 cumulative final. Attendence is mandatory. Very enthusiastic, fun teacher. Take this class

As an actor, the professor makes the lecture thoroughly entertaining by combining lecture with play-like acts to draw the class in. Grades fairly.

Mandatory attendance for theatre shows (4). M/C quiz/midterm/final. Critique on Hamlet. Book use is minimal. Highly recommend Kaback.

Kaback is such an amazing professor, I recommend him 100%! He loves the arts and if you go in there knowing nothing about it, he will definitely get you interested it. Which is pretty impressive because it a 200 people class and theirs never a dull moment. Make friends in that class so when you're not there they can mark you there, he won't know.

Professor Kaback is very engaging & very passionate about theatre. Go to class & take notes; you don't need to buy the book, all exam material is from the lectures & the plays. I remember when he first came into class my freshman year , the first thing he said was "this is going to be your favorite class." He was right . Not only did it become my favorite class but everyone else's favorite class . He is an AMAZING instructor and soooo talented . . . And extremely handsome in my opinion .

Funny guy easy A. Before taking this class I went on here and everyone said it was a breeze, Totally agree just make sure to show up because he does notice and its apart of your grade. Assignments fairly easy I recommend him.

This is the intro level class so it's not that challenging. He does call on you to read & engage with the material. Although a textbook is required, he'll provide one on Canvas, the other is usually on reserve at the library or can be rented. He's a character & tries his best to keep the class intrigued. Just do the readings and you'll pass.

Professor Doug is one of the nicest acting teachers I have ever met. Truly inspired me and pushed me out of my comfort zone. One paper, Two quizzes, Writing and Acting a monologue and a Final Performance of memorizing a scene with a partner. Best introclasses for acting and it might be scary at first but it gets more comfortable.

I loved Doug's class! It was one of those classes that you actually look forward to going to. He is very nice and understanding and will make you feel like a kid again!

Doug Kaback has to be one of the most caring professors i've ever taken. He goes out of his way to check in on his students and makes sure they know he's available to help them and cares for them. 4 Quizzes, Paper, Final and essay. And he offers lots of extra credit! If you can take him, definitely do because he is amazing trust me :)

He is my all-time favorite professor. If you can take him, do it!!!! Definitely learned a lot in regards to acting. He encouraged me to take a career path in acting.

TAKE THIS CLASS!! I took his intro class in person for like half a semester before we went virtual and it was so fun and easy so I decided to take his upper division class too and it was possibly the best decision I made. Only difficult thing in this class was the paper at the end of the semester. If you're looking for an easy A this is it.

Professor Doug was great. None of the people in this class were theater majors, but Professor Doug was able to get some really good performances out of us. There is a midterm and final, along with a solo monologue and a duo scene that requires blocking and line memorization. Professor Doug made it easy though. Enjoy the class!

Professor Kaback is a great professor and is very passionate about theater. This class is group project and participation heavy. If you're late he can get upset and if you miss a certain amount of classes, your grade will drop. He is very energetic and keeps the class interesting. I recommend taking him and this class! Its fun!
