Ok, here's the deal. Kelt is a great professor. He keeps things simple and concise. He definately has a good manner in which he conveys the material to you; doesn't go to fast, stops for questions. Here's my problem. I dono if its him or the T.A. but the quizzes are gradely insanely subjectively (BS) and its a rather black and white class.

I dont know what everyone's problem is with the class, but I think its common sense and overall easy. Have your TAs edit your papers twice and use the LSC too. Studying for quizes is easy. Follow the TAs study guides. The point of the field trips is to get us out and ENJOY nature. May not be perfectly relevant with the essay but you can survive.

Kelt is a super-friendly guy but he grades EXTREMELY hard. If you don't write basically exactly what the key says, you get points taken off. Good researcher but not a good prof. He speaks very fast. He expects us to do well in exams, but he doesn't give us slides nor records the lectures. The gradings are vague. The exams questions said "be brief", while the correct answers are super detailed. He just wants us to repeat every single word he said in lectures. JUST AVOID HIM AND RUN!

He made the class a lot harder than it needed to be :( Exams are overly difficult for a subject that I feel could be taught in a much better way and made more interesting. It isn't so much about learning in this class but how well you can memorize every little detail from lecture :( :( :( I put lots of sad faces because this class makes me sad.

He refuses to share slides and does not record. He leaves covid positive students in the dark when they are in quarantine, with no access to what he's teaching. He also blames the students for not doing well instead of realizing his bad teaching methods. If a class average is 50%, I think he needs to realize who is at fault.

Grades are based off of 2 midterms and a final. Class average for Spring 2022 was around 60% which was curved to a C-. Tests were difficult. Short answer questions told you to give a brief answer but then you got docked points for not being super thorough. I think the material for this class is interesting but expectations were unnecessarily high.

Did not record lectures or provide slides even for accommodating students dealing with COVID setbacks. Grades are based only on 2 midterms and a final. Exams are a mix of multiple choice and short answer; the short answer being more difficult and graded excessively harshly. Concepts aren't hard but you have to be good at memorization to get an A.

Doesn't give out lecture slides or records. Not accommodating for sick students. Class average was extremely low on midterms and the final. Doesn't respond to emails. Do yourself a favor and take someone else if you can.

Dr. Kelt is the worst prof in WFC. Punishes students who miss lecture by testing not on the concepts taught, testing on hyper specific details from individual lecture examples unrelated to course. Petty and rude, curved class from a 57% average to a 70% preventing many students from graduating. Got mad people finished tests with 10 mins left.

I honestly really liked his class, and I thought he was a good teacher. However, you definitely need to study A LOT to pass his tests. Overall, when you talk to him one on one, he is pretty chill and he is willing to review stuff you are confused on.

To be honest, Dr. kelt is a good professor. His class is interesting and his homework is very easy. However, if you are a student who is pre-vet, please avoid this class or change it to PNP only. The grade is tough. If you want to challenge yourself, take this course and you will become better! But if you want an A, please avoid this course.

Loved this professor and class. Lectures are interesting and informative. He's a tough grader, but you get feedback so you can improve. Willing to listen to student complains/comments on grades. Attending lectures is very important.

Taking this class as a GE was a mistake due to the difficulty. Kelt has interesting lectures and he cares about his students, however, his tests are VERY difficult and you should study a ton. Lectures are not videoed. I like his personality and open mind toward students, but this class is not easy. The average (raw score) mid-term grade was an F

DO NOT take him for a GE. Study, study, study. REALLY good lectures, but not recorded, doesn't give you lecture slides, basically you HAVE to go to class to pass, make sure to TYPE notes out b/c he goes fast. Lab was really cool and I liked it a alot, but again you memorize EVERYTHING down to the teeth, use flashcards (I got an A+) test every week

Prof. Kelt is a very good but very difficult professor. Grades are based off 3 tests and tests are graded very tough. The grading is really hard but it forced me to understand material and the content was really interesting. His office hours are super helpful and helped me raise my grade a ton.
