He's not always organized. Sometimes he doensn't know what he is talking about. Test questions are difficult to understand. Not much clarity. I don't understand how you use your notes on the test and still can't get an A. The notes are directly from him

Easy class. Nice guy. Noyes help for exam but that doesn't mean u can skip reading and not study before exam---obviously some people do not understand this.

Nice enough guy, notes are actually from the company that drafted the text. Open note exams, HOWEVER, changed the syllabus in the middle of the course, throwing out all other open note exams in exchange for group presentations! DO NOT SKIP THIS CLASS!!

Easiest class i've ever taken at GVSU. He makes it pointless to attend class since he only lectures about exactly what you can read from the book, and the lectures are sooo boring. But you have to go to class because of in class exercises.

i love McKenzie! he is one of the nicest profs i've had at GV. he's willing to help you with anything, just go to his office hours. the class is easy. go to class (you don't have to read if you attend), make sure you know your cases or he'll make you brief the next chapter.

You know whats going to be on every test, and you are allowed to study from previous tests(highly suggested because almost identical coppies) I learned a lot from this class about police process, and thats what the class is about so thats good. Not a bad class

if u go to class and listen the test arnt that hard, all open note and last 2 tests are open book and note. he prints the power points for u, how much easier can it get. he gets right to the point and as long as u read the book and go to class then u will do fine on his tests

He's a sassy little man who really knows his stuff. If you ask him a question about an exam question, he'll tell you the answer. Very helpful. He's great!!

This prof. is great! Open note and book, multiple choice exams! Lots of EX.CREDIT! Really nice guy and he definately knows his stuff. I would recommend him.

If you can handle really boring lectures, you will be fine. You have to attend class, but if you do then you should get an A in the class... because it is open notes on the exam. Good guy, take him if you can.

Dr. Mckenzie is a great prof. He gives you every reason to pass but you must work for it. Lots of extra credit so lower test scores wont kill you... lots of in class work... great guy really nice, funny to... he is a great prof...

Excellent class and Prof. Easy tests and extra credit quizes. You learn a lot and the night class flew by. Prof is fun and fiesty for an old man. Very funny.

Learned a lot in this class. Lectures could've been much worse, and actually held my attention most of the time. Open book/note tests definately are awesome and I came out of the class feeling like I actually learned something, rather than memorized court cases and decisions for tests.

Professor McKenzie is HILARIOUS! He makes all these funny faces when he can't think of what to say next. Not to mention that the class is super easy; open-book exams, extra credit quizzes. If you have to take Constitutional Law, take him.

I love this man, has the funniest sayings and really helps you understand even though he's super easy. Extra credit is excellent and the class is overall a great class anyway. The exams are easy, even if they weren't open notes (sometimes book too).

At week 13 we were 6 weeks behind. Easy open-note exams (two of ours were take-home), pointless group exercises, easy presentation at the end. Hard to ride the bus downtown 3 days a week for this class.

The class would be very difficult if he did not allow notes on the tests. He does what he can to help students get through the class by giving extra credit. I would take him again, but the tests would be very difficult without open notes.

He is kind of hard in this class. It is really boring, but gives out a lot of little quizes so you can get a good grade. Book will be needed and lets you use it on the final exam.

He's a nice guy and the tests are all open note/open book but he wastes a lot of time by coming in late and not being prepared. The class itself was kind of boring and his test questions are sometimes worded awkwardly, which makes it kind of hard, even with notes.

This guy is awesome. Great person, gets the material you need to you through powerpoints, posts everything online, and all tests open note, not to mention he likes to joke around. what more could you ask for?

If you want an easy class take him, we had 2 take home exams and he lets you use notes on the in class exams. He is the most unorganized prof I have ever had. Dont bother being on time cause he never is and his lectures are boring. He covers so little of the book in class, we might have made it through half the book. The tests were worded tough a

This guy has been teaching 305 forever and it shows. He knows the material well but wastes alot of time showing up late, taking role and he is very disorganized. There was alot of extra credit opportunities mostly b/c he said he would give a review sheet and never did. Turn around time for test scores was horrible. Class was fairly easy though.

Very nice old guy!!! This class was a lot of fun for me, I enjoyed the lecture even though he sometimes didn't have any clue what he was talking about. If you ask him a question, 9 out of 10 times he won't actually answer your question. All in all he is a great prof and I recommend him highly. Oh and all his tests are open note so take good not

Hilarious guy...all he talked about were old stories of him in law enforcement..and drinking beer..very friendly and easy!! Definiatly take him its a good experience :)

By far one of my all time favorite profs. He is totally absent minded but brilliant. Entertaining, interesting, and easy going, I will take ANY class that he teaches!

What a waste of money...if people think he is great it is because he doesn't require you to really learn anything, and trust me, I think it will catch up with us when we start working...he gave us all an "A" when he forgot to bring the exam. I was disappointed and dismayed...he was highly entertaining, but could have gone to vegas for less...

McKenzie is a nice guy and the tests are open note, so that helps a lot. He's just kind of spacey and scatter-brained. If you are looking to be challenged to think differently about things, this is not the prof to take! He takes everything at face value and doesn't seem to know what it is he's actually talking about.

I want to ask for my money back...if you want to learn, don't take him. I should have read his entries before I made the mistake of taking him. I took Mullendore at the same time...she was a great professor...it was the best of times and with McKenzie..THE WORST OF TIMES! If you want an easy A and don't want to learn...take this guy!

Super easy class but a ridiculously boring lecture block...open note tests and finals with questions directly off the study guides. Didn't even get the discussion board running but still gave us full credit...GUARANTEED A

Super easy, but I haven't learned a thing, and I want to be a CJ major! I should either start studying on my own, or just take the class again with a different teacher. He's made our exams open book, so it's not even worth trying at this point. The only reason you have to show up to class is when he starts giving random 5 pt worksheets.

Mckenzie is a great guy but has a tendency to go off on tangents in class and repeats himself. The whole 3 hour class was all PowerPoint which he puts on BB. The tests are open note and for our class open book after the first exam. Its an interesting class however, we didn't cover everything in the syllabus and some classes only lasted an hour, fun

The class was pretty easy, aslong as you showed up for class and read the material you are set. Tests were open note and most of the answers could be found in the power points that he lectured from. He is very nice but if you disagree with him on something he just sticks with what the law says.

McKenzie is really easy, tests are open note/powerpoint. Tests usually come from the powerpoint. Down side, few points can be gained outside of tests. Boring but lectures arent mandatory. Take him if you want a GPA booster

Incredibly disorganized. The exams were open notes, but his wording is very confusing so read every question very carefully. Go to class because he takes attendance and there are case briefings that are done in class and extra credit quizzes. Easy A, but if you actually want to learn the material, take it with someone else.

Just reads the powerpoints to you with basically no additional information. Tests are open note, although that does not make them easy. Grade consists of tests and a few case briefs. Pretty boring teacher who isn't very helpful

Dr. McKenzie is a sweet man who meand well and I think people mistake him for being dry and senile. He is an extremely intelligent man but can be confusing in lectures sometimes. He gives students many tools to exceed, including giving question stems for the exams, open note exams, extra credit, and easy case briefs. Easy A if you put in any effort

Great professor! I loved his class. He was enthusiastic about teaching, and you can tell he has a passion for law. Very helpful and approachable. Open notes for tests, which aren't hard as long as you read the material.

Such a caring professor and he genuinely cares about his students. The class in not the most entertaining, but its a requirement. Exams are challenging, but they are online and you can use your notes. Dr. McKenize, is such a great guy and if you have any problems at all he will make it a point to make everything work out for you. take him!

He's a really cool professor, has a ton of good stories and a ton of experience, really cool. Class was the exact same every time, one quiz per week online, 4 exams in class open note and a final online, all really easy if you pay attention to the lecture and read some of the book. Easy A would definitely take again.

Take another professor... He does not email back He shows up to class right on time so you can not ask questions prior to class starting. His lectures are long and dull. He know's his stuff, but not the best at teaching it. Take Kanonoshi. His power points do not help much for exams, and stem worksheets are not complete..

I guarantee you that if you take this class, you'll get an A. EVERYTHING is online which includes exams. Bring a red bull to class though cause this guy will put you to sleep in his lectures.

Dr. McKenzie's class was by far my favorite. He has a lot of expierence from the work field which makes his lectures interesting. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is very friendly and willing to help anyone. After taking his class I am planning to pursue a minor in criminal justice.

Doug McKenzie was the cutest little man. He really knew what he was talking about too which was awesome in lecture. You don't ever have to go to class because all assignments are straight from the book and online. Really great GPA booster.

Doug is a funny little guy and the class is a breeze. HIGHLY recommend. This class is an automatic A, everything is online so you don't have to go to class. Solid GPA booster. Would take again if given the chance.

Nice guy and all his experience is really interesting and knows his stuff, but he tends to tell the same stories over again in lectures. Tests are straight out of book resources and the answers are almost always word-for-word out of text outline he also provides. Same for exams, so pretty much zero need to go to class other than for attendance.

Walked up to him on one of the last day of classes to tell him that I couldn't do the discussion board submission for that week. Cracked his patented smile, chuckled, and said, "You won't have to worry about that at all. I tend to be a fairly easy grader for most of my assignments." #NEVERFORGET #CJ101WITHDOUGINANUTSHELL

This was class pretty easy and while the lectures might be a bit boring, the subject is interesting. Wasn't much homework or papers, just a project/presentation at the end. EASY.
