This class was sooo easy! Definitely take it with a batch of hard classes. The once a week class is really nice because it never lasts the whole time. The tests are ten questions, multiple choice.

He clearly appreciated it when people put actual hard work into their speaches. Those who did poorly are the ones who forgot everything, like the summary at the begining, and again in the conclusion. Or they just plain ass sucked (no practice). You will do great if you just try. Dr.Parry is a good teacher, and this course is valuable. Good luck!

Very easy at grading and his lectures are interesting. Impossible to fail his class. I would recommend taking his class once a week, it's much easier.

He is a funny person. An easy class. It's only once a week and usually you get out pretty early. Sometime there is no class at all. Show up, do your presentation even if you know you suck, and participate and you will get at least a B or an A. His test are easy. The test are off from the book.

Easy professor, classes cut short or non-existent. Lectures cover every question that is on the test and will just tell you what material he is looking for as he is lecturing. Don't slack on presentations, just do it... can't go wrong

He is funny and quite easy. As long as you do the speech or the paper, you're golden. He's willing to help if needed. I'd suggest him if you're required to take a COMM class and are dreading it.

He reminds me of the teacher on Ferris Bueller's Da Off...."Anyone?...Bueller?... Bueller?" His class is a breeze and he is extrememly fair with his grading. You have to take the class and he has some good assignments that keep it interesting and your style/personality.

Easiest teacher ever, the lectures are really boring, but he does try to keep it funny and fun. I get out of class early everytime, and just make sure to go to get all the points, I think I have missed a total of 5 points and have barely put any effort into it. Highly recommended for an easy class.

Prof. Parry is awesome. His class is very informative while being super easy. You actually have to try to get anything other than an A. 6 speeches, 3 papers, 3 test (lowest grade is dropped but last test is take home style: will bump ur grade up if needed.) Test material is given in class: take notes.

Honestly, it takes some serious effort to FAIL the class!! This class is an easy A as long as you do the work, which isn't all that hard to begin with. I definitely recommend this class to anyone who is terrified of public speaking, it will cure you!

Just attend class, take notes, turn in assignments, and don't throw up in the middle of a speech and its a easy A. Lets you out early most of the time. Its actually a fun class.

Easy as they come. Do the work and turn assignments in on time a you'll have an easy A. Didn't even have to attend class when things we're due, just read the text. Have any questions and he will easily clarify.

Easiest class I've ever taken. Generous grader, just don't forget your bibliorgraphy's and finish your speeches and you got an A. Easy going, late papers will get an F, he wants to give you full credit so take advantage of it. Very open to meet outside of class, and encourges questions.

I have a real issue with him. Yeah the class is easy, yeah it's hard to NOT get an A. But really, other than "get over stage fright" you don't do a whole lot of learning here. I wish a little more time was spent on learning to communicate more effectively and less on "how to fill 6 minutes with BS" and "Go watch a movie and write a paper about it"

Super easy to get an A. Just do the speeches for the right amount of time and have work turned in on time or early. he does NOT accept late work. and he uses time wisely, if nothing else to do he doesn't torture you but lets you go home early (like every class)

Easy class if you do the work. Attendance isn't mandatory but each class he goes over EXACTLY what is going to be on the test so you should go. Doesn't grade hard on speaches as long as you do what was asked. Over all very easy class! I got an A.

Super easy class to pass, as long as you do the very few speeches and assignments. Grades based on structure of speech rather than subject. I did topics anywhere between Brett Favre or Kenny Powers and received good grades. Almost always lets the class go early, too!

Easiest class ever!! I was worry about the speeches but I learn as long as you have a great opening and a great ending, everything else doesn't matter.

Easy class. I'm extremely glad I took this my first semester attending university. Do the speeches, and show up for exams, then you'll get a good grade. Attendance is not mandatory. He is a good professor, and is funny during his lectures.

Really easy class, but he is fairly monotone, which makes the class really boring.

This course was really easy. It was supposed to last 3 hours every Monday but it usually ended after an hour. He offers a lot of extra credit and grades really easily. He will tell you exactly what will be in the exam too.

Awesome teacher! Informative and funny lecturer. Goes over exactly what will be on the test. Class was scheduled for once a week for 3 hours, but typically lasted about 1.5 hours. He also gave us a few days off here and there to study. Grades fairly. Highly recommended.

We usually got out of class early. We used the text book a lot, so make sure you have it. Wrote two essays the first two weeks. He graded pretty easy on them. I don't really like his attitude. He talked to everyone like we were stupid or something. Always asking if we had any questions, and if we didn't he thought we didn't get it.

At first I hated the guy, but then he grew on me. I think his personality was mean in the beginning because he didn't know us. Then after a few months you know everyone in the class. I thought it was super fun and easy. I learned so much! Take him. He's an awesome teacher!

I found Prof. Parry to be very condescending. He acts like the students don't know anything about anything and re-explains everything in very small words. He also talks in a monotone so it is very hard to pay attention to him in class. The good news is that his class is very easy, it always gets out early, and he is the easiest grader ever.

Parry was a little monotone and sometimes came off as condescending but I think he was just trying to be funny. We always got out early and he gives 100% as long as you do it. Easiest class ever, pretty much participation. We were completely done with class a month early. Highly recommended. It made me a lot more comfortable to speak in public too.

Super chill, easy grader. Got out around 2 hrs early every week. Became a better speaker.

This class has been very easy so far. He is a generous grader and gives positive feedback on every assignment. His lectures are short but comprehensive. I would recommend taking this professor's class to fill the communications GER.

I put off COMM 111 for 3 years. Yes, I was afraid of public speaking, but Parry made it easy to get out of my comfort zone. I did the online course which was less stressful because I recorded my speeches, but it was still a confidence boost knowing I could actually do an extemporaneous speech. Do it online if you are nervous. You WILL improve.

I'm currently taking his class online and he's awesome. The workload is not bad at all. There are 20 questions in each test and the answers are found in the book and his lecture videos. My favorite thing about him is that he cares, and he actually watches your speeches. He gives you honest feedback. I would take him again, so he's good.

This online class was very straight forward and easy if you put in the effort. There is a speech, quiz and discussion post due every 2-3 weeks, and they are pretty easy to complete. As long as you stay up to date on when everything is due, and you follow his instructions, you will get a good grade.

I took this class online and I truly enjoyed Professor Parry. He has video lectures that are posted on Blackboard, you get plenty of time to complete your assignments, he grades within a day or so, sometimes hours. The tests are straight from the lectures so if you take notes you should get 100%. You have 3 speeches to post online.

If you are afraid of doing speeches, this is the class for you. You'll be graded based on 4 tests (lowest score will be dropped), 3 speeches, 5 discussion boards, and an analysis paper. He'll always give positive and encouraging feedbacks on your speeches. This class boosted up my confidence in public speaking as well. Great professor!

Professor Parry is an awesome professor. He grades all assignments on time and always gives positive feedback. Professor Doug doesn't require much just do your assignments and try to turn them in on time. He's a great professor. I am delighted to have been in his class. I recommend his class if you have to take a COMM. class.

I took this course online and really enjoyed it. Parry is an excellent teacher!! He gives great feedback and seems to really care what you have to say. Not a crazy amount of work, a few speeches and a paper at the end. He responds fast with any questions. Take this course online if you need it!

Took the first summer session online class with Dr. Parry, and I would recommend it to anyone else. 4 tests but the lowest is dropped, over the provided reading material. Weekly discussion board posts, 3 speeches and one paper. Gives great feedback and is prompt when responding to emails. Everything is in the syllabus, 10/10 would recommend.

Definitely recommend. Took as a 5 week online course. 3 speeches, 4 tests, weekly discussion boards, and a paper. Grades super fast and everything is organized. Easy A! Best part--you don't have to buy the book, he supplies a free one online!

Super easy Communications class online. Nothing difficult, just have to make sure to read the book and do the assignments on time. Tests aren't difficult if you read the book and watch the lectures. The grading is the easiest I have ever seen. Recommend to ANYONE

I took this class online, and it is the easiest class ever! You will do a total of 5 discussion boards, 4 tests (only highest 3 is counted, and 3 easy speeches plus an analysis paper. He provides great feedback on your work, and he replies immediately when you email him.

This was a great class and very easy. Five discussion boards, three speeches (Introduction speech, Informative speech, Persuasive speech), plus an analysis paper. There are four tests, but the lowest score is dropped. Also the textbook is free!

Everything about this class worked very well. I took it online. It was very clear what you had to work on. You had to post 3 speeches and particpate in 5 discussion boards, you also had to write a paper. He gave great feedback. The online class is a good option for people who have a fear of public speaking. I highly, highly reccommend it!

Professor Parry is super awesome. He replies to emails a quickly as he can and is very informative. He gives great feedback on all essays and speeches which is beyond helpful for when you need to find ways to improve. His Oral Comm class was super easy. I believe there were only 3 speeches between the 2-7 minutes and only 1 essay. Would take again!

Easiest online course I've taken. You can record your speeches the night before they are due and you will probably almost always get 100%. He is nice and will give you any extensions if you have problems.

Professor Parry is great! There's not a lot of homework. Speeches are recorded and are not hard that all. As long as you due the work you will pass with a good grade!

Very easy and fun class. Three speeches, one paper, 5 discussions, and a few tests which are easy, have study guides, and lowest score is dropped. Divided into units that are manageable and easy. I took this class in Spring 2016 so it's been two years. He's an easy A and I would recomment him!

Took 5 week course, easy A. I HATE public speaking, and I've been able to handle this class. Consists of 3 short speeches, tests and discussion posts each week, and 1 essay. His feedback is good and clear, easy grader. Good class if you have a fear of public speaking, just knock it out in 5 weeks.

Great professor and easy A online course! Plenty of time to turn in work and is student-paced. Great discussion boards and assignments which I had the passion for. Do the study guides for each test if you want an A for the grade. Recording your self is quite awkward at first but you get used to it after a while. I highly recommend professor Parry!

Doug was a very helpful and awesome professor. I took his class online and it was great. I would definitely take more classes with him as my professor

Highly recommend his class if you're not too comfortable speaking in public, as assignments are fulfilled with self recorded videos. Clear syllabus and his 5 week summer work load was easy to manage. Always graded and provided feedback on your assignments within 12 hours. 3 speeches, 5 discussion boards, 4 tests w/ lowest score dropped, 1 final.

Great prof. He is not that harsh of a grader and there is just 3 speeches you must do. Class is relatively simple with not a lot of workload. As long as you do the work then A is guarantee. Note: No late assignments! If you really want to get something out of it, the lectures are pretty good as well.

He is very thoughtful in his feedback for speeches and blackboard discussion posts/replies. He gave frequent updates on blackboard which is super helpful for staying on track. He had the most well written syllabus I have seen yet! I would hands down take another course with him if I could. Read the speech and post/reply criteria and you'll do fine.

Class was fairly easy. He gives a decent amount of time to upload speeches and to complete assignments. He gave good feedback as well and even did extra credit.

He's a very good professor. He's very clear and helpful. The feedback he gives are thoughtful and he's willing to tell you if you're not correct about something so that you'll know the answer to it. I was nervous to take his class as I hate recording myself and nervous speaking but I can't believe I am saying this. I enjoyed the class very much.

Took him online for Fundamentals of Oral Communication, as an asynchronous class. Had good communication with students, which makes sense. He's not a tough grader and workload is light, you pretty much would have to try to fail.

This is the easiest class I have ever taken but was tons of fun at the same time. He is such a kind helpful and easy going guy. If you are someone looking to really challenge yourself this might not be the best but if you want an easy instructive fun way to knock out a GER this is it. 1 paper, a few recorded speeches, extra credit, open book tests

Professor Parry is a great professor who gives very clear instructions on assignments. Do your discussion boards, reading, and listen to the lectures and you will do great. Three recorded speeches need to be turned in if you are doing a virtual class.

Professor Parry is an excellent teacher. I was really dreading taking COMM111 over the summer (online too), but he made it pretty painless. He had clear grading rubrics for every assignment and gave excellent feedback. I would recommend anyone take this class with him.

Funny personality with a great class setup. Makes deadlines and expectations *very* clear (Blackboard & email) and is generous with speech grading. If you do your work on time, there is no chance of failing. Perfect level of difficulty for a 1 credit class that you have to do. Also--fun fact--Prof. P helped start the acclaimed UAA debate program!

I was nervous taking a communications class, because I'm shy at public speaking. It was one of my last GER's left to take. Professor Parry has a well-structured and easy to follow itinerary. The assignments are fun and Mr. Parry is great at explaining the assignments. I'd definitely recommend taking this class if you need to do communications!!

His online communication class was a very fun experience. The course content and his pre-recorded lectures are amazing. He's very clear on grading criteria, as long as you follow the syllabus you'll get a solid grade. You do have to record some speeches, but just be yourself he doesn't dock you points for being nervous - just be prepared.

Took the time to remind you multiple times a week about what was due. For a summer class, it was very helpful. Had everything squared away on Blackboard and graded super fast even if you did things ahead of time.

One of my favorite classes despite very much disliking public speaking. As long as you do your best and complete all the work even if your public speaking isn't the best you will get a good grade. It has a few papers and discussion posts and that is all. Very easy and supportive, but strict professor.

I took Professor Parry for a summer course. His class is extremely easy and can be completed with a week if you want to get ahead. He is a very easy grader, when I thought I did poorly he always gave me a great grade. Tests can be hard depending on chapter, but doable. He is easy to reach and help even outside of his work hours.

I enjoyed Prof. Parry's COMM A111 class. He is fair, nice, and wants his students to succeed. As long as you do the homework and apply yourself you will do well. The study guides cover most of the test material and they are nice multiple-choice and open-book tests. I highly recommend signing up with him for fulfilling your COMM A111 requirements.

Just turn your assignments in on time and watch the lectures! Tests followed the study guide and lectures. Show up and turn in your work on time and you will do well.

I wish Professor Parry taught every subject! Gives ample time to get work done, lectures are fantastic, the syllabus is reliable, the textbook is all PDF, and the work wasn't mindless, it was fun and still got you out of your comfort zone without making it a headache. You can work ahead and he's compassionate and quickly replies. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The coursework was fair, and the professor was genuinely nice to students and fantastic at responding to emails about assignments and grades. If you want to take COMM A111, take Doug Parry!
