Mr. Ray is a great teacher. I am the worst person in the world at math, but he worked with me and I managed to get a C. That was amazing in and of itself because my math skills are nil. He's very nice and will go out of your way to help you. He never gets tired of his students. Very funny and manages to make Business Algebra somewhat interesting.

Comes off as weird at first...but extremely hilarious once you get to know him. Captain Ray! He is difficult, but he will go out of his way to help you. I seeked his help with Math 1329 when I didn't understand my professor.

I had Dr. Ray for 2 semesters, 1319 & 1329. This guy is hilarious. However, his class is not so fun. The best advice for this class is to GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He explains everything. Sadly, I had class during his hours so I rarely made it 2nd semester. Do the HW! I still made an A, but it wasn't easy.

He is SOO funny! I laughed pretty much everyday in class... with that said this class is effing hard. Its not necessarily him but the course in general sucks. He helps a lot and really tries to get you to understand. I hate math but he makes it a little more enjoyable. He offers a lot of chances for you to do well also.

He's funny and keeps the class engaged. Helpful and I'm doing really well in the class.

Ray's class can be kinda hard. I got C's on all the tests but got an A on the final and made a B overall in the class. He's a nice guy, makes class interesting, is extremely funny and willing to help.

He teaches College Algebra and is a great teacher. He really seems to care about his students and wants you to truly understand the material. He takes all the homeworks as a test grade but he gives huge curves and drops grades. He really does do a lot to help most students pass. Plus he is a jokester and keeps class lively!

Probably my favorite teacher so far throughout my college career. Although some might not like it, he challenges you to learn. Best advice i can give is learn the material, CONCEPTUALLY; For those who expect identical tests to Hw. He was generous enough to come to our final study session, so ask! He's also a really funny and witty guy Got an A+

I hate math and am horrible at it, but I needed 1329 for my major and Mr. Ray was by far the best teacher I have ever had. He's funny, helpful and a great teacher. It isn't easy but it gets easier and I would definitely recommend him.

Everyone is hating on Mr.Ray. He's not that bad guys! He's funny and will help you personally IF you ASK. I am horrible at math, dropped out of college algebra, and this class got me an A. His tests are reasonable, just study and go to class!

I can't understand the negative comments. How hard is it to follow directions? Tests were just like quizzes. He was EXTREMLY helpful I hate math and was terrified of calculus but I went to him for help and he never got frustruated with my questions, explained things clearly. He is surprisingly hilarious. I would absolutely recommend him

D-Ray is a fantastic math teacher. I took him for calculus. It was a difficult class, but I did all of the recommended homework, put effort into the class, and got an A. DO THE HOMEWORK. He tells some hilarious jokes. Its really dry humor, but he made me laugh all semester. Its a really fun class. Go to his office hours if you need help. 9/10

Just go to his office hours!! The more you try the better your grade. He is hilarious and a great instructor, but don't use your phone in his class, drives him crazy. But if you have ever seen the movie "the princess bride" he totally reminds you of the villain. Its' great!

Great teacher. Extremely corny but funny. Makes things easy to understand. Test are not hard. Make sure to look at past hw and quizzes.

He was one of the BEST math teachers I have ever had. The way he teaches is really good. He makes really corny jokes, which are only funny when he tells them. The way he explains everything makes sooo much sence. Just show up to class, take good notes, got to his office hours, and DO THE HW! He does grade it.

Good teacher however he is extremely picky when grading. Homework after each lecture usually about 30 problems but only 5 actually graded. The tests are a lot easier than the homework but since he grades them himself he will count off minor discrepancies. Also, he does not curve but he helps your daily homework/quiz grade so always do homework!

He gives people plenty of opportunities to ask question and is funny in a corny way. The homework is pretty hard but DO the homework it helps on quizzes. He is willing to help so use his office hours and you will see and improvement. Tests can be tricky so as he suggests form a study group with people in the class.

Dray was honestly the bst professor I have ever had. If you go to class and do your homework, then you are bound to pass. he is very helpful in office hours and his corny jokes are actually kind of funny. the homework is very studious..and his tests are easy because he gives you points if you do partial credit. definitely take him for math.

This is a hard class regardless of who you take. Ray is a great teacher. He explains everything in detail and uses My Math Lab for your HW. Put the effort in and you will pass.

Mr. Ray is a great professor. The CLASS is hard and attendance is really beneficial. Don't get the book, just really pay attention to the notes and MyMathLab hw and if you ever need help, he is REALLY REALLY helpful during office hours.

Doug Ray is an excellent instructor and I recommend him. He has a lot of enthusiasm for math and it shows in his teaching. As long as you keep up with the homework and attend class, you'll do well.

He is a great professor. Yes he is a little corny but he cracks the jokes out when he notices people are getting stressed out about what we are learning. I understand math more then I ever have before. Still hard but just do the homework, go to class you will pass. GO TO HIS OFFICE! He will put out things that will be on the test!

He is one of my favorite professors. His class was really easy. As long as you just do the HW and go to class you have to get an A or B.I skipped a lot and still got As on the exam. He is a good guy and entertaining during class. People who say his class is hard probably just suck at math.

Professor Ray was very entertaining and funny. He is really nice and gives notes that are fill in the blank. He is really good about giving you plenty of examples to learn the material and is always willing to help outside of class if needed. Even though it was algebra, I enjoyed the class a lot.

Very helpful teacher. Attendance not mandatory but hw is given every class period and pop quizzes on the regular. Go to his office hours and try and you will pass the class. Tests are challenging. Very sweet man and care about his students.

Professor Ray is seriously one of the nicest professors that I've ever had. He cares about each student as an individual and is really funny in a dorky kind of way. I found this class to be extremely difficult, devoting whole days to getting tutoring for it. If you're not good at word problems you will have difficulty.

Hes really nice and makes dorky jokes that are actually kinda funny. The problem with him is that the examples we work on in class dont prepare you for the difficulty of the test. The test is less than 10 ques. w/ several parts to each ques, and they're no joke! HW is hard and requires book he choose only a cpl ques to grade. Take at ur own risk.

Business Calculus is hard no matter who you take, but Mr. Ray is always willing to help. He will help you online, through his video program. If you are stuck on a question, he's willing to guide you in the right direction, and help you figure out the solution. Definitely take him if you have the chance.

Hard class but he makes it easier than any other teacher. He cares about his class and really puts his time and effort to help you. If you reach out to him he will help and guide you to success. Great guy take this class

I am TERRIBLE at math and always have been. I took this class before and failed. Taking it with Mr Ray was like a breath of fresh air. SO helpful and really cares about students! Such a good teacher he is AMAZING. Take him if you have the chance he is awesome.

I'm not great at math, but taking this course has enhanced my math knowledge for sure. I actually understand math better now. Go to class, it is a huge extra credit booster to your exam grades. Professor is very nice and always willing to help. Youtube video lectures are not bad at all. The videos are good as a refresher for exams.

Mr. Ray is a very good teacher. the way he teaches is very easy to understand if you actually put forth effort. he is funny and makes learning fun. you have to do the homework to pass, and he loves to do quizzes but will tell you in advance when they are. and sometimes offers extra credit.

All of the lectures became available online via you tube, so if you missed a class, you could catch up. All the assignments were done via an online access portal, but the tests were paper and pencil. Lots of concepts tossed out very quickly, solid lecturer but the tests required memorization of a ton of concepts as well as how to use them.

I've always struggled with math, especially algebra. However, Ray was always willing to help me and explain concepts. There's a lot of homework but it helped me. He offered extra credit assignments and 10 points if you show up to class. The extra credit helped me make an A despite having B's on some of the tests. I would recommend taking him.

Mr. Ray is a really good professor, just do not expect to get a grade you don't deserve. You want an A? You will definitely have to work your butt off for it.

Go to class everyday and you should be fine, he breaks everything down and is always in a great mood. I loved him! This is Calculus so its not an easy A. Asked for reviews before the test, did the review over and over passed with an A.

GO TO CLASS EVERYDAY! His Attendance policy and extra credit is what saved me after bombing him exams. If you do the homework that will save your grade too. Extremely hard exams. Funny and nice guy, but I wouldn't recommend.

I do not know if its the math department but, these are hard math classes. Mr. Ray gives homework everyday and they all build up to the test. If you miss his class you may find yourself "lost at sea". My friend who was a math wiz in high school found his grades a full letter off in his class.

this class was ok. took up so much of my time with the homework. Even though it was a pain, it did help on the exams and did help my grade. Prof. Ray is a cool dude and sometimes corny so its funny. if you plan on taking this class stay on top of the homework and quizzes they really help your grade in the end

Super helpful to students who aren't the greatest at math. He volunteers his time at the tutoring labs often and helps students even out of his class.

Mr. Ry was an interesting professor, I will say that he knows how to lecture in a auditorium setting and his lectures are easy to follow. The homework is tedious as they are long and quite difficult, however his tests are much easier than the homework. Overall I recommend him but you need to study and try to visit his office hours.

Best pre cal professor I've had a TXST. There aren't many grades to be averaged so be sure to do well on the exams. Still failed but I actually learned.

One of my favorite professors (surprisingly). He's very organized, but be prepared for new notes and homework every single day. His class is one you HAVE to study for, or you'll most likely fail. If he sees you genuinely trying, and you keep on top of notes and homework you should be fine.

He tries to make class enjoyable for those that show up and gives extra credit. Although attendance isn't mandatory I recommend going because it is so much easier to understand when you learn from him in person. If you study and give a little effort, I promise it won't be that difficult. I have never liked math, but I found this to be pretty easy.

Tells really good jokes during class, so math doesn't suck if you take it from him. All of his lectures are posted on youtube, so if you miss class it's no big deal. Although his lectures are online, it's worth attending because he gives easy extra credit unannounced. All homework is done through ConnectMath, which can be annoying, but doable.

Prof. Ray is amazing! He gives a pdf of fill in the blank notes to follow during his lectures, very similar to high school. If you're good at math this class will be extremely easy. Even if you're not, his notes are step by step and easy to follow. He makes jokes during class and is always happy to answer any questions. Definitely recommend.

A LOT of homework for college algebra, but if spaced out correctly is not overly hard. Honestly with homework it's important to stay on top of it. Show up to class, random attendance is a grade. Tests are short and you get points for just writing your name. Quizzes occasionally online, pay attention when due. Print out notes & fill in during class

Best math professor I've ever had. The material is tough, but he gives you everything you need to do well. I never really used the textbook, but there will be a lot of MyMathLab assignments. He will work with you, always has office hours, very approachable, and a very nice guy. On the plus side if you are on the fence he writes the final.

After reading the reviews on here, I was scared to take his class, but he actually wasn't as bad as everyone made him seem! Dr. Ray was very funny, intelligent, and clear with his class instruction. I do admit that the class itself was very difficult and he is fast paced, so it may be quite difficult for those who struggle with math.

Professor Ray was one of the best professors I've ever taken. I retook his class because I made a C the first time around. I made an 89 this time so I'm kind of bummed, but he's one of the best math teachers I've ever taken. Just do your work and you'll be fine.
