What an unpleasant man. Couldn't stand him so I stopped going to class, marks projects like a robot - if you don't have exactly what he wants and tried something creative, you'll burn. Good way to make the course a waste of time if you can't have fun.
Way too picky on project specifications, classes were made somewhat interesting just by his general demeanor.

This prof is straight forward and gives you all his expextations upfront. Project is straightforward, you should get perfect if you follow directions. Exam was easy. The most well spoken, clear prof I've had in along time.

Prof. Thistle is one cool dude. Don't be hating on him just because you did crappy in his course. This is University, failures happen, live with it.
Easy class. This guy is a loon though. So many boring stories about himself (yawn) it should be included in the course outline -- "Unimpressive life stories from a dull man. Oh, and a little comp sci to qualify for funding."

this is an easy computer science course. everyone can get A in this course. just follow the instructions for project and make sure that don't copy from other websites. His exams are straightforward.

Man this guy knows how to teach! I never bothered to even buy the book and passed with an -A. He makes going to class fun, we nick named his class Story Time Hour. I actually had friends not taking his class come in on their spares to listen to him.

This guy is a ****. Run away if you have him. This class is not meant for Comp Sci major and yet, we do all these things that the comp sci major have no idea. This class is a waste. If you need a science credit, take the English Hypertext class, it's easier and counts for your science............
Good teacher who makes a dry subject interesting. He gets excited about technology and keeps classes interesting with his humour.

Horrifically misunderstood. He sticks it right to you and tells you what you need to know, what you want to know. I feel that I know so much more about the subject at hand. Anyone who complains about him needs to get their diaper changed. Wish I could have him again.
He's got some annoying quirks, like telling boring personal stories, but he can be funny and helpfull. I got a good mark in his class and I'm sure you can too. Oh, and he's a Newfie!! WooHoo!!

Awesome professor, one of the first classes i've enjoyed in a while.
Good prof. His teaching style is good, and he keeps you awake. If you screw up he'll make sure you know it, so stay on his good side. He tells it like it is. if you don't like it, too bad! Therefore a great teacher, and he teaches well. If you do the work its an easy mark.
He and his dumb jokes are just stupid... and his pet TA, (not gonna mention his name) is such a whimp that he won't even stand up for himself. Feel sorry for that fella. Anyways, take the course if you want to do bad, cause don't expect to get an A so easily.
By his third lecture, I had transcribed by hand the entire lyrics to Ninety-nine Bottles of Beer. He is that interesting.
Tells bad jokes, uses bad analogies, but presents the info in an easy to understand format. always addresses questions, gives help after class. acts like he actually WANTS to be there.

Simply horrible; he made this class utterly miserable with his off-topic rantings that take up the whole class while providing 1 miniscule chapter worth of information. The midterm was decieving because of fill in the blanks; coding was the only saving grace. Unless you like listening to him b*tching about his life, and daughter-in-law, stay away.

His off colour comments get old quick, his life story is long and boring. If you're interested in story time, attend his classes, otherwise you're better off just reading a book and writing the tests. You'll still end up with an A doing only that! He honestly shouldnt be "teaching" anymore because he doesnt actually TEACH ANYTHING!

One word: PAINFUL. This man shouldn't be teaching any courses at all. The midterm wasn't all that bad, but the final was a little too much. But having to go to his lectures is like a death sentence. No wonder he doesn't post slides online, then nobody would even show up and listen to his inane ramblings. I don't need to know about your Scout days!
Worst professor at the U. Don't get me wrong, I got a good mark, but I'd go to him to see my midterm and he'd make me feel like an idiot for getting a question wrong. His exams are made for Comp. Sci. majors and are hard for the student taking it as an elective. This man is cenile and tells pointless stories that drag class on and on.

Reads off slides and arthritis doesnt allow him to type properly. No point going to class! Stupid assignments and has no sympathy for students that run into problems with the University's online assignment submission (CLEW).
piece of crap teacher. On review day he decided to "teach all of the stuff not found in any text." AND IT WAS 75% OF THE FINAL EXAM. I hate his life. I hate everything about him. Hes a jerk.
He reads off the slides! The cours has changed now & is much more difficult. Midterms & assignments are pretty tough, but Thistle is very fair when it comes to stuff like not knowing what the answers are. If youre nice & dont talk in his class, he will help you out. He hates if you talk in the class!!! Read the book, and know your definitions!
This prof did nothing but remind of Peter Pan and that guy who keeps looking for his marbles. His marbles are clearly lost, he tries to get pity from students by telling his life stories and does nothing but read the slides. No point in going to class other then for a nap. This man needs to call it quits, but he's a newfy and he's stubborn!
His midterm and the final are extremely hard, but the project which is worth a lot is pretty easy! Last class of the semester is where majority of the exam is on, so make sure you attend that class! You gotta read the blue book if you wanna get a good mark! He's a pretty funny guy, and if your into life stories, you'll like the class for sure :)
Oh to recall how friendly he was on Day One. What a joke this guy is. Yells at the class all the time, threatens to walk out, and teaches about so many things that aren't on the exam OR that aren't even important.
This guy is hilarious. "I'm not shouting!" cracks me up every time. If you're not "into" computers then don't take this class. It's somewhat more difficult for those that just cannot stand anything to do with computers and software. Mid-term and assignments were straight forward and easy. With normal studying, I managed an A+.
Mid-term: 100 fill-in-the-blank; Final: 60 M/C, 2 short ans., 1 long ans., 60 HTML Coding fill in the blank. He gave out exam hints during class, as people never showed up to the night class!!! You'll get an A+ if you study everything :)

This teacher is a slow in teaching and does not teach. All he does is talk about useless things about his life which is completely useless to everyone. If you do not know how to write HTML language then never take this course because it is completely useless with this teacher.
Very rude person and he will single you out if you talk in class(even if your at the back of the class). Lets put it this way, if you study hard and do the work you will get a good grade. It is hard tho
This man seriously needs to retire. He is way too old to be teaching. The lectures are pretty useless, therefore I only went to about half of them and just read the text..but once I got to the final I realized I probably should've gone more often haha. Still got a B though! KNOW YOUR HTML CODES!
He doesnt take up the internet book in class but its fallowed to the letter in lecture. He talks about his personal life a lot but at first it seems irrelevant but its related to the course
Surprisingly not bad. I received perfect on the M/C section of midterm and 35/40 on coding. He basically gives out a free 8% for file upload and index page. The only thing that is hard is the final (worth 50%). NEED TO GO TO LECTURES, HE GIVES OUT A LOT OF HINTS!
Fresh new graduates can deliver the material better than him without using bad words in class and back bite students. no slides, u have to attend his class because he wont post a summary or info about what he said in class, hid class isn't interesting at all
This is for anyone that is registered in the course: (1) Do not buy the HTML book, the course website has the HTML code and class lectures help.(2) The Internet Book is very important. ~55% of tests are based on it. (3) Look at previous year's class list webpage assignments for ideas. (4) MTs = EZ
The course was a bit more dull and "historical" than expected but easy assignment and midterm marks. The final though- tough- need to go to class because most of the material was from lectures not in book. He can be harsh at times and tends to pick on people. Very intimidating.

His lectures are absolutely useless, he is too old to be teaching. I do not mean to be rude but he was just such a frustrating professor. His lectures go on tangent and most of the time do not relate to the course. Yet when the midterm and final exam come you look at it confused because you learned nothing from him. THIS IS NOT A BIRD COURSE
Time for Retirement!! Class could be useful but NOT with Thistle as your teacher......
