tests are directly from notes; pretty easy teacher
tests are straight from the notes
Excellent teacher, wants you to learn and cares about his job.
He's the best teacher around, he's helped me in my path in life, and consider him someone to always take advice from. Great person outside of class
My favorite teacher of all during my 4 years at UCF. Humanities is such a great subject, especially if you have as awesome a teacher as Dr. Evans. His classes are entertaining and interesting and he's very funny.
He is a funny guy and he gave me extra time to turn in a paper since I had the flu.
Great teacher, very entertaining, didn't mind when i slept in his class for the past year.
Very funny. I never slept in his class, b/c I found it very interesting. He is very nice and understanding and let me turn in my humanities papers late. I would recommend him highly to any student taking HUM2211.
Great teacher, and he'll work with you if you have any sort of scheduling problems and stuff. Makes the subject entertaining! I highly recommend him.
What all teacher should be like.
This class was great...he is an awesome teacher and makes learning fun! He is a must have!
Great teacher!
Great teacher to have for humanities! He actually tries to be funny and cares about your grades.
Best teacher at UCF! Really funny, intelligent, and somewhat handsome! He rocks!
Dr. Evans is so great! He is so smart, funny, and helpful... goes way beyond any other teacher to make your class experience a nice one! Take his class!!!
AMAZING teacher!! besy i have had at ucf- he made class fun and interesting-- u will actually laugh out loud at his jokes. willing to help always, highly recommend!! if u take any class make sure u take his!
Best Professor so Far! Great lectures and tests come directly from the study guides. Sign up for him early...his classes fill quickly!
If you want to enjoy a class, take Evans. He's a great professor - he's very knowledgable and just a good-guy. Doesn't get hung up on stupid things like some other professors and his papers can be enjoyable to write (as long as you're willing).
I highly recommend him!
He's an excellent teacher! Very funny PAY MORE ATTENTION 2 NOTES FOR THE TESTS. Always do Dialogues for your paper though. It may seem longer to do, but it's actually a lot more interesting when you do it that way. I Highly Recommend This Teacher!
Very interactive teaching style. It's Gorden Rule so there's a lot of writing but if you're going to take the class take it here.
He is really awesome! I really enjoyed having his class, even if you don't get it, he'll make sure you do. He's also very funny! It's easy to remember what he says but you gotta go to the classes and listen to notes. If you do, you are sure to ace.
This class was very interesting. A kinda tough class but if you show up, and pay attention an A is not that hard. Very funny guy
BEST TEACHER SO FAR!!! I'LL DEFINITELY BE TAKING MORE OF HIS CLASSES. VERY ENTERTAINING. GRADES WELL TOO.
good teacher, funny guy, awesome.
One of the best professors I've encountered at UCF. Study your notes and the study guide for the tests and try _really hard_ on the papers and you'll easily get at least a B+. He misses class sometimes without letting anyone know, though...
doesnt take role and i still went every day i could--he is that enjoyable. cracked up the class with his bizarre sense of humor. the material to learn isn't hard, it's also interesting. and if you know the study guide you're good for the tests.
The man is a saint. Well, sort of. Seriously though, he is the best professor I have had and is very accomidating to students. Passionate about hum. and willing to explain anything that you need. Tests are easy, come directly off of the notes&studyguides
The best professor I've ever had. He is interested in the topic he teaches and has an insane sense of humor. You NEVER want to miss his class because he makes it so much fun.
this guy is awesome
Great class, learned a lot, very interesting, and I wanted to go everyday just to look at him because he is very handsome.
doesn't matter what humanities class you take with him- he's awesome and his test format is the same- he gives you 3 essays and one of them is the test. go to class and get the notes and you should be fine. he's pretty hot too
This man is the man! Take ANY of his classes, funny too.
He is a great teacher and chances are you'll get an A. The only bad thing is he is disorganized and lazy. Also if you are a female expect to be treated as a piece of meat.
Take him just because he is hilarious! The reason I give him a 4 for easieness is because his mid-terms are fairly easy and he is generous on grading the papers, but his final exam is freakin impossible! Good professor otherwise.
I Love This Class! Prof. Evans is great! You really learn alot and you can tell he is a teacher that really enjoys his job. This is a great class and is pretty easy. Just do the work and you'll be fine
He is an amazing teacher. It was the only class that I enjoyed going to and the only one I could stay awake in. He gives great test reviews and is a joker (funny jokes). Very fun and if you put the effort you are guaranteed an A.

awesome professor! He's always crackin jokes and is very laid back and cool. His exams are easy and it mainly follows the notes. To some, this material could be boring, but with him teaching it, you should definitely give it a go!
VERY GOOD teacher. You can tell he enjoys what he teaches and thats a plus. Very Funny!. Do the Study Guides and you wont get lower than a 'B' in the class...
This professor is awesome!! He is really funny and full of energy and his class is very interesting and easy. All you have to do is go to class to get the notes and it is a piece of cake...but you still learn a lot! Great teacher! Great class!
Hes a great teacher. His test are easy once you do the study guide. Through out his lessons hes always making jokes, which makes the time go by faster.
Great professor! His tests are right off the study guide. DOING THE STUDY GUIDE = A. He's also funny and gets off topic a lot - but very interesting and entertaining! :)
Class is pretty easy. Teachers really nice. Just make sure you pay enough attention to be able to figure out the stuff for the review sheets.
Lectures consist of outline and 15-20 minute tangents of examples relating to art and video clips found on the class CD. Doing the reviews are a must, because the test are a bit challenging especially the true/false section. Not an easy class, but he has a good sense of humor and facial expressions
CATHOLICS AND PROTESTANTS BEWARE!!! He presented every religion in this class objectively until he got to christianity. If he is going to present information on religion he needs to do it accurately. He actually said that catholics believe Mary is part of the Trinity! Easy class but very misleading.
Class is easy if you do the outlines and you can still get As skipping classes often. If you are looking for an indepth study of religions this isnt it though cus. he keeps it simplistic and makes fun of everything Take it for an easy class and to learn basics of all relgions.
i loved this class and really got excited about it. i am trying to take more of his classes next term but so does everyone else.
Probably one of the best teachers I've had so far. He grades easy and makes the class pretty fun. His jokes are kind of lame, but he tries to be funny and that in itself made me laugh. I would take his class if I were you.
great teacher. corny jokes and goofy facial expressions keep you from falling asleep. go to class most of the time and copy the notes he gives and you'll be fine. he covers several religions but doesnt get too in depth b/c of time restriction but does give lots of the basics. great teacher

Don't take this class. I really studied for his tests and am going to end up with a C. His test questions are tricky (he acknowleges it too)and he doesn't know what he's talking about.
I studied the notes, the book, and the study guide and at best I'll probably get a B. A majority of the class misses the same question he marks wrong on the tests, so that tells you it is not the student it is the teacher. Otherwise, he is a pretty nice guy, and easy to listen to.
Awsome teacher. Go to class, pay attetion, take notes, and study the study guide. His tests are exactly off the study guide so the book is only necessary to do the study guide. Lectures are pretty engaging and he allows anyone to speak their opinion. Overall one of the best professors.
take him, hes a good man. tells lame jokes, but everyone laughs anyway...his facial expressions kill me. tests are way easy, when u go to class & copy notes. no need for the books.
Nice guy. Tells corny jokes. Do Not buy the book. Notes are easy. Gives a study sheet before each test. Test questions are a little tricky sometimes. Class is booring because he gives the notes so slowly. No need to take additional notes. Overall, an easy class.
Easy class if you pay attention to his lectures, which are absolutely enjoyable. Very funny and intelligent.
TAKE HIM!! Awesome teacher, very easy and helpful @ his office hours. Gives study guides for exams(final too!), do those & you're set. Does a good job teaching a course like this b/c he doesn't try to "conform" you. He just lays down the basics for you. I am trying to take him for other classes!
Great teacher, keeps students interested at all times. Jokes around all the time and loves getting students involved in discussions. I would take him for as many classes as possible.
He is very enthusiastic. I don't recommend buying the book because I never touched it and got an A in the class, of course... I *went* to class and jotted down his notes which is highly recommended not only because of how helpful class is, but because of how interesting he makes it.
If anyone wants to take an easy class this is it. I got a very high A and i didn't go to class half the time. just make sure you get the notes and fill out the study guides he gives you. the tests are unbelievably easy!
GREAT Teacher! This is one those classes, that are so easy that its hard. All i can say is dont think the info for the test review is so easy simple that u dont need to study it cuz i did that and made C's on what shouldve been A test. I ended up with a B only cuz i got smarter and started studyin even if the terms were easy. I would recommend
This class was fairly challenging for Summer B. We had a paper or a test due every week. I felt that he was very unclear with the papers...I had no clue how or what to write. On the flip side, he gives a study guide for the exams which are clear and the tests are easy. Pay attn to his interpretations of lit. and art=> they'll be on the test.
He's very intelligent! You can ask him a question about any subject and this guy will possibly have an answer for you. He's also funny and gives his students eye contact and attention when the student asks a question.
Great class. Interesting material. Godd prof. Buy the texts. Meet up with the professor at Bennigans for happy hour. Cool guy, easy class.
This guy thinks he's so funny. His papers are unclear and the tests, though seemingly easy, can throw you for a loop. Make sure you study and be prepared for monotonous jokes in class.
This class is not so bad, but on the papers he kind of grades like an english teacher. Test are somewhat easy but tricky questions sometimes. You can get a B though. He tries to make jokes some are funny and some are not.
Great teacher! Knows his subject inside-out and relates well to the students. Highly recommended.
Great teacher, I would recommend him to anyone. He makes humanities interesting and fun. He inspired me to change my major to humanities.
He tries really hard to make the class enjoyable and easy to understand for the students. By far my favorite class thus far at UCF.
probably the best humanities to take. 3 quizzes and a final for the whole semester and they're easy. don't even need to pay attention, just copy the notes and ur set. 3 papers, 2000 words but i've submitted 1500 word essays and have gotten B's and B+'s. i reccommend him.
Wonderful Teacher. His classes are really fun to take. He makes humanites fun and exciting! He sparked my interest in humanites and now I am focusing on it. Take any class that you can from him. He will really change your world views.
Definitly the best teacher there is around hands down. I loved his class and I miss him. I used to see him downtown all the time also, but I dont anymore. Fun guy!! :)
Mr. Evans is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is hilarious and just overall an amazing professor. Class notes very clear and tests come from those notes. No real need for the books, but they do help when you write papers and stuff. 3 tests, no final, 3 papers. Take him if you can, don't let a great teacher pass you by!!!
Dr. Evans was one of the best professors I've had so far. He made what couold have been a drab subject fun and interesting. He's very animated and has a weird sense of humor that made the class fun. He also is very clear on what he looks for in his exam which made it impossible not to get an A. I would definantly take any of his classes again.
Made the class fun with corny jokes. Gave clear reviews for tests and outlines for papers. Great teacher!
Easy class! In fact, class is too easy! Bring a pillow but make sure to study for the tests cause he tries to be tricky.
Good professor, very clear as to what you need to know, and study guides for every test. Keeps bland topics entertaining with jokes Only negative I could say is that he's horrible at grading papers, and seems to assign a grade randomly depending on how he felt. Expect spelling errors on the critiques he makes on your paper. Irony. Boring papers.
Funny guy. Pretty easy tests. Papers are loosely graded and more or less entertaining over a 4 hour periof (Urgh!) He gets really excited about his class, which is cool. I can't believe he was going to be a priest - he would have never made it - you can tell he loves the ladies.... haha
Dr. Evans is a funny guy who really likes to hear himself talk. He makes a lot of corny jokes but some are mildly funny. He simplifies his material and tests are directly from study guides. I thoroughly enjoyed the class thanks to him!
Take if you want to hear irrelevant stories and neo-conservative political viewpoints all class.....or just watch him talk about a bunch of paintings. He teaches the entire class, modern humanities through art. he never even addresses what modern actually means or any other things that exmplify modernity.
Great easy class. Easy tests but some questions on the test don't refer to the notes or books, so make sure you go to class. I loved it. I reccomend for anyone to take the class.
All I have to say is TAKE AS MANY OF HIS CLASSES AS POSSIBLE! He is amazing! He's so nice and funny and keeps you completely entertained! there's 3 tests and 3-4 easy papers. You wont regret it!
not that many notes, tests are hard!
Mr. Evans was an interesting teacher, and his class was fairly easy. You don't really need to read the book, but it is a good supplement for his lectures and helps on the test. He could have moved through more material in my opinion, and sometimes he wastes time opening up electronic media that does not really add to the learning experience.
Dr. Evans is hilarious. He's very entertaining and you are guaranteed to laugh at least once each class. He makes fun of everyone and everything so don't take him if you are easily offended by certain kinds of humor. Class was easy, just take notes and DO THE REVIEW GUIDES! They have almost everything that is on the test on them. Tests are m/c, t/f
As long as you go to class and take notes, you will get an A in his class. The work is minimal and the class discussions are actually worth going for.
I've taken at least 4 of Dr. Evans classes and have never gotten below a B. No exams, just essay tests and he gives you the prompt beforehand. His classes are very laid back and he NEVER gives group work!! *TAKE HIM*
took him b/c of his ratings this has been the worse class i have ever taken never knew anyone could be this boring regret not listening to ppl that said he was boring...he is sooo boring you can't stay awake in class...he tries to make test tricky...
Great teacher. Class is fairly easy. Lectures are interesting & if you take notes you will have no prob on the tests, plus he gives you a review outline which helps alot. Only a few papers, but not hard with few requirements. Keeps things interesting & cracks jokes alot. He uses alot of visual aid, which helps keeps things interesting. Recommended!
I've taken 4 courses and I'm not even a Humanities major. Nuff Said. Awesome Professor keeps things fun, go to class to get all of the notes, tests are pretty much from the notes. Written exams kind of suck but if you study your notes and pay attention in class you'll do fine.
he only takes attendence during 5 classes throughout the year....you definately do NOT need the book, just take good notes and.or get someone to copy them for u....hes awesome easy A
Great professor that teaches his subject very well and makes it interesting! Tests (other than the last one for some reason) were directly from his study guides which were directly from his lectures (don't really need the books). Grades papers arbitrarily, so don't sweat them. Easy to get a B, hard to get an A (uses +/- grading scale).
Hes the best teacher Ive ever had. He really knows his stuff and is FUNNY like you wouldnt believe. He makes the material really fun. It also VERY EASY! He give you the notes exactly and all you have to do is copy them. He gives you enough time too. The tests are exactly from the notes. He even gives a review practically word for word to the test.
I know everyone says "best teacher ever" but he REALLY is. Hes sooo funny and makes its so interessting, really relates to the students. Ive never had a better teacher and ive been at ucf for 5 yrs!
I think he's very smart and probably a good person, but I want to be very clear about this: He has a cult following. This is the first time I've taken him, and I had no idea that I'd be just about the only person who didn't get all of the inside jokes. Every good professor has groupies, but Evans' are extremely devoted. (I remain uninitiated.)
Evans is, indeed, a funny man who makes the material somewhat interesting. He also dulls it down by just summarizing what you've already read. Only a teaspoon of what he teaches is not in the text. While it's my favorite class and material, I sometimes find it difficult to convince myself to go to such a boring (if funny) lecture.
Took him for The Classical Ideal. It was an aesthetics course. Fun guy, who knows his stuff and the book, so you don't have to. I would suggest not buying the book. It's not necessary. Take all his notes. Go to class. He gives good and fair reviews. The tests are essay, but not too bad. We did a group project. He likes Dionysus, do that. Good guy.
I took this professor after I saw the ratings. I left disappointed and a feminist. Boring lectures, misogynistic remarks, inappropriate use of classroom time (i.e, pics of groupies) followed by the question "Is this doing anything for ya?" Nice guy, strangely enough and can be funny at times. Still, I barely learned anything and got an A.
great guy, had lots of fun in class. try to make friends with someone who has had him before (there's always someone) and the essay tests and paper will be that much easier. attendance isn't required but it does help to be there for the discussions (he loves when you use buzz words!)
Awesome teacher. His class was fun and easy. You have 4 papers for the semester and 4 exams. The final is not cumilitive. He gives you a review for each and if you use it, you will get an A or B! I recommend him to anyone who needs to take Humanities, this class will take some stress off those other classes you have to take because it makes sense;)
This was a fun and easy class! Dr. Doug is really funny and his class was interesting! We had 4 papers (very simple btw) and 3 tests! The tests are from his notes so definitly go to class and take his notes! He gives you a review for every test! Had him for 2 classes this semester and taking him again in the summer for a 3rd!
Great teacher! really fun discussion in class! He's really funny! 3 written tests and 1 paper! Gives you a review before every test which helps a lot!!!! Easy and interesting class!
He's a bit of a perv. But he's also really funny and he cares about you and your grade.
He knows the art of making possibly boring material interesting. He cracks a lot of jokes. He also uniquely juxtaposes works of art with the material that helps explain the lecture. He's kind of a weirdo sometimes - but that's part of his charm. Very helpful, very down to earth. He likes to use funny voices - keeps it interesting.
Very funny professor. Makes the lectures interesting and cracks a lot of jokes. Gives reviews before tests which help a lot. Doesn't really give constructive criticism on papers, but outlines what he wants for them. Fun class, very recommendable
I loved loved loved this professor! He is funny, clear, and an amazing teacher. He gives out reviews prior to every test which if you do and study you will get an a on the test, without a problem. The only thing that might be considered "hard" from his class were the essays- but then again he graded them fairly.
The class is really easy, not hard to get an A or at the very least a B. He goes off on nonsensical tangents ALL THE TIME and HATES dan brown, literally. He grades papers in a mechanical way and isn't specific about your grade on them when he grades them. He posts reviews before the test which pretty much are the test.
GREAT PROFESSOR! HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!!!
Really fun and funny guy. Class is difficult at first if you've never had him, but after the first test it gets easier. Two tests, one paper, one final (another paper). Class discussions fun and engaging. I learned a lot. Great teacher.
His tests are super easy. He gives an outline before that is pretty much everything that will be on the test. The papers he asks you to write are really easy too, he doesn't ask for anything too strenuous. His syllabus says attendance is mandatory but he doesn't physically take role. I'd still try to make it, though.Very enthusiastic about his work
He is a really good professor. He grades pretty leniently on the papers. The tests aren't bad as long as you study. If you are going to take humanities, take him.
I took both humanistic traditions courses with him and loved it. He's notes are very clear, and the reviews show you exactly what will be on the test. He has an awesome personality that keeps the class light, fun, and interesting. He is a somewhat easy grader on the papers but he does get harder throughout the course. I highly recommend this class
You can can get an easy B in this class, when your writing your essays make sure your very SPECIFIC and you follow all his directions that is the key to getting an A on all his essays, and his tests basically come off the review so if you study those you should be good
Great Professor! Clear notes, discussions, papers, AND study guides for the test that will get you an A/B if you memorize everything on it. He grades easy on papers, but I'll walk away from this class feeling like I learned A LOT. I'm taking him for HUM2230 next semester because I enjoyed this class so much. Get him, he's awesome!
Evans rocks. He will read over your papers and give you feed back before they are do so you can change something if need be. All the test have test reviews which he will help you with as well. Bother him that's the easiest and best way to get an A. See him all the time in his office hours. Very helpful, funny, and nice.
Funny guy, material's interesting, the papers and tests are easy, it's an enjoyable class on the whole.
Easy to get a B. Not as easy to get an A. Tests are easy if you study the notes. Sometimes grades papers a little harshly if you aren't VERY thorough. Class was fun. Makes it a comfortable environment. Recommended.
He is clear and easygoing, and makes class fun. He is also flexible, I overslept the day one of the papers was due, and he let me give it to him the next class.
Took him for Classical Mythology last Spring. Two essay tests, 2 papers, and a take-home final (around 1000 words). Gives good study guides for each test. Makes class interesting and enjoyable. It is pretty easy to get a B, not easy to get an A though.
Took him for Classical Mythology last Spring. Two essay tests, 2 papers, and a take-home final (around 1000 words). Gives good study guides for each test. Makes class interesting and enjoyable.
Took him for Classical Mythology last Spring. Two essay tests, 2 papers, and a take-home final (around 1000 words). Makes class interesting and enjoyable.
I could tell that me was very interested in the material, which made it much easier to pay attention to his lectures. He cracked jokes and liked to involve the students in his lessons.
Easy professor until it comes to the tests. Tests are hard and usually really detailed. Has true and false questions which are very tricky. Easy essay grader, but overall hard to get an A in this class.
He's interested in what he teaches, so it makes the class worth attending. When it comes to essay tests... write every single thing that comes to mind because he loves detail (and if you don't give enough, he'll mark you down). There are barely any assignments, so you have to do really well on the few tests and essays he assigns.
Evans is the best, he loves his subjects and helps you enjoy class. Notes are really good and his tests are easy if you study the review. Just an overall amazing teacher, take him as much as you can!
Great professor. Smart and witty. Makes lectures intersting. Has papers along with tests for a grade boost. Very approachable. Easy class as long as you keep up with the coursework. Should be a breeze.
Dr. Evans was a really awesome teacher. He made a class that could be very boring actually entertaining with witty jokes and comments that keep students awake. His class is extremely easy to get a B, but takes a little bit more work to get an A. I definitely recommend him.
I took Evans for HUM 2210 and loved his class and teaching style so much, I took him again for HUM 2230. He's a great guy, hilarious personality, and really gets into his material. Tests are easy (you get helpful study guides even for the final) and papers aren't hard topics at all. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll want to go anyway.
I also had Dr. Evans for HUM 3255, he's a great teacher. His sense of humor breaks up the subject, and he's entertaining both to watch and listen to. I'm enrolled to take him again in the Fall, and will probably continue to enroll in his classes. Take him!
I've taken him for several classes and this one was the worst. He includes essay questions in every exam and never clearly states why he grades a certain way (i.e. puts a lot of points for one thing but takes a few points off for another). Dr. Evans changes the due dates for practically everything, so, be sure to keep track and pay attention.
Honestly do not take this teacher for any class if you are not a humanities major or EXTREMELY interested. He is an incredibly hard grader and it is never clear what he want in papers even if you ask him. He always changes due dates so you can never miss class or you won't have a clue when tests are or papers are due.
Great professor! You can tell he really loves his job and is super interested in the material. Tests are hard, and he's a tough grader on the response papers. But his humor and enthusiasm make it worth it.
Don't take for Gordon Rule (take AMH with Macdonald instead for easiness). BORING class! Harsh paper grader - it's like he just gives a random grade and doesn't say why. Tests are quite difficult for being multiple choice and true/false. He didn't reply to my emails. He can be funny in class, but that's not enough for me.
Awesome Professor! You can tell he actually enjoys teaching the material that he does. Sit in the front of the class if you can! Also, laugh at his jokes :]
His class isn't hard at all. If you study from your class notes, you will do fine in your tests. If you want to receive an A, it requires a bit of an effort, but it's possible. Listen his lecture and keep in mind about his explanation of different pieces while taking the test.
He was purely interested in the subject. He was a great teacher and a lot of fun. Me and my friends even made up a game where we would guess what shirt he would wear that day, either Hawaiian or a UCF polo :D
He's hilarious! He's a great teacher too. You can tell he really loves his subject and teaching. His class is super interesting if you're into humanities. You do have to write papers but they're pretty easy. He says attendance is mandatory but he never checks. Just make sure to get missed notes from someone!
Professor Evans is a great professor. He enjoys the subject and makes you want to go to class. The class was four tests and four papers. He gives a review before every test and if you study that you will get an A. You only need the textbook for the papers, but pretty much all you need are the class notes. I never got anything lower than a 95.
Dr. Evans is an interesting and funny guy. His lectures tend to get very boring, but he tries really hard to keep you interested. There were three tests and four papers. He is a generous grader, and his tests aren't hard if you study and go to class. I would recommend him :)
I love Dr. Evans. He is funny and really knows what he's talking about. i love humanities so i found it very interesting and fun, but even if you're not one for history, the class is easy to do well in. He is an easy grader. 4 papers and 4 tests. I barely touched the text books and went to half the classes and got a B. Thumbs up!
Dr. Evans is a good teacher. I had him for Honors World Religions and there were only 5 grades (3 tests, 2 essays) so you need to make sure you do well. Gives outlines for tests so they are easy to study for. Must attend classes for the notes (not in book!) and because he refers to art in class for tests. Overall good guy, little book use.
3 tests, 4 essays (you never really know what he's looking for, they're confusing) he's enthusiastic about humanities. You need the books. Overall, you need to work for an A in the class. Attendance helps alot though!
I took this class in honors and it was pretty easy. He gives comprehensive outlines for each of the 3 tests, which makes them easy. However, he grades based on looking for very specific key words. I got an A by putting in a couple hours a week of review.
This is a great teacher. His personality is awesome. For his essays, just be very detailed and you can't get anything lower than a B! Pay attention in class and take good notes because that's all you'll need, the book really isn't needed. He doesn't take attendance but make sure you know what's going on in class. He's very laxed, gave no homework.
I loved him. I plan on taking him again for other classes. Funny, personable guy who loves what he does. Go to class, take notes and study for his tests and you'll do fine.
Class with Dr. Evans is great. Go to class, and you won't have to study much for tests. He can get a little off topic in lectures, but he is a funny guy. I would recommend him!
Interesting teacher and knows a lot. Some of what he says doesn't make sense and he goes off on tangents a lot. Study guides for every test but don't expect them to actually help you. "Tests come from notes" and study guides but that's not true for quite a few questions. Must go to class to get a B. Really hard to get an A. Wouldn't take him again.
Great teacher! I loved him, his jokes and personality! I would honestly take him again! He really is knowledgeable and loves what he does.
Best professor I've ever had at UCF - I've taken 3 of his classes. He's extremely engaging, interesting, and knowledgeable. The tests are straightforward as long as you study the notes. The structure of the papers are a little daunting at first but if you follow his outline you'll ace it. I highly recommend him!
Really interesting and funny. Knows a lot about his subject. Slightly scatter-brained and sometimes get sidetracked. Tests aren't too hard if you study. Overall a great professor.
Easy grader and is funny in class. He gets sidetracked easily though and we got 10 days off of schedule, so if you missed class you would have no idea when things were due. I was expecting a class 100% about classical mythology but he talks about the Bible and non-classical mythology a lot.
I love this professor!!! he is so funny and interesting! one of the best professors ive ever had, he really cares about his students and he is clear about what he wants on the tests. class is mandatory in order for you to get the notes but its not a hassle since he makes the class so entertaining ! highly recommend!!!
I hated humanities going into the class and he made me love it! Best professor I've ever had. He is understanding and makes class fun! Definitely worth it! He looks like Tom Hanks!
Evans is a smart and entertaining professor. He will get off schedule so go to class to know the due dates. Rarely ever gives above a 90 on essays, so in order to get an A you need to ace the tests. Notes are from class, tests are straight from them. Gives some extra credit. Class attendance is part of the grade, but he never takes it.
Evans is simply an okay teacher. He tends to get really off topic about the strangest things and we wound up getting very behind schedule. It's an easy enough class though just make sure you read the book because you'll learn more from that then the lecture.
Dr. Evans was a really nice guy. He made class fairly easy, 4 essays and 3 tests to male up the grade book. Attendance wasn't necessary, but the notes were helpful for the test reviews. He was pretty old-school. He didn't use web courses, & it was pretty hard to contact him. Never replied to emails. BUt it was easy enough, and he was a cool guy!
Professor evans is really fun and not TOO demanding with his class. he gives very specific study guides. if you go to class and take notes you should get an easy A
Really nice guy. The class is only two papers and three tests, plus the final. Class is optional, but you'll do fine as long as you study his study guides.
Boring class and boring teacher. If you are planning to take this class as a gordon rule don't because it is no longer a gordon rule class. 2 papers and 3 test. He gives reviews for each test. Some questions on the test are random but not many. Not really hard to get an A on the tests. Not as easy to get an A on the papers just be very specific.
He is very funny , test are hard but he offers extra credit. Had a 84 with extra credit (10pts) got a 94. The papers were pretty much everything he said on the painting or whatever then our opinion. Anyone who fails this class is crazy, just means they did not show up to class.
He's a cool professor, but his exams are filled with trick questions, his PowerPoint makes no sense, and his papers are almost impossible to write well, but he grades somewhat easy. He also won't mention it but there is extra credit and is pretty much the only way to get an A in the class, order early because the bookstore is awful.
Really, as log as you show up to take notes and hear his lectures, you'll get at least a B
Evans is a great prof, he makes this gen Ed worth your time. You only have to write four papers and take three tests. Before each paper is due, he has you turn in worksheets which are really helpful and makes writing the paper super easy.
Super awesome guy! His lectures are interesting you can tell he loves what he teaches! The test are kinda tough, but just read both your notes and the study guide he gives and you'll do fine. The papers are easy, just follow the outline he gives you and you are guaranteed an A. He gives a lot of extra credit, do it no matter your grade!
Evans is a decent professor, but man, is he boring.. You have to LOVE mythology or youll be extremely bored... He lectures from start to finish of class, and gives you the notes on the projector... theres 4 papers, and 4 tests... Its not a hard class... just boring..
He was a decent professor! if you are ok with getting a b on this class then take him... because the only way to get an a on this class is if you do the extra credit, and the bookstore can be very slow! also beware of due dates as he changes them constantly ! not bad
This class is an easy B but a very hard A. The way the class is set up papers and exams are worth a huge chunk of your grade most people get an A- on the papers and a low B on the exams. The only way to boost your grade is to do the extra credit, which requires a $30 access code from a book Douglas himself wrote. Take if willing to buy your grade.
Evans was an entertaining guy and clearly very smart on the subject. Lectures at times were really tough to stay awake through, though- even though he's clearly passionate about the subject. He never returned any of the emails I sent to him while in the class. 3 Tests were really hard- I got Ds on all of them. The papers SAVED ME- all As on those.
About 10 homework assignments and 2 tests
Dr. Evans as a person is super funny and cool, but as a professor, he isnt so great. His lectures are long and confusing. He gets off topic like every 5 minutes. If you dont read the text before the class, you wont understand anything. I missed a lot of class and still did good. Take your own notes from the reading, and you'll pass. It isnt hard.
Doctor or professor Evans is a relatively enlightened being. He's highly knowledgeable across a diverse field of study, and enjoys teaching his students. If you feel the need to expand your horizons within the realm of spiritual/religious knowledge; pick him. This class, as well as the book, will offer you tremendous insight into a world unknown.
AMAZING. DR EVANS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST PROFESSORS I'VE EVER HAD, I TOOK HIM FOR HUM2210 AND REL2300 AT THE SAME TIME AND WE DEVELOPED A GREAT RELATIONSHIP. HIS NOTES ARE EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND HE GIVES AN OUTLINE BEFORE EVERY TEST. MAKES CLASS ENJOYABLE AND DOES NOT GRADE PAPERS HARD AT ALL. I HAVE AN A IN BOTH CLASSES WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL
He is truly one of the best professors I've had. What I had trouble with were his tests, each test a total of 7-8 chapters worth of information and about 50-75 Q's, all of the notes are very detailed and he even provides notes right in front of you. There is just so much information you get confused on figuring out which will end up on the test.
Dr. Evans knows a lot about the history of many religions. He often goes on tangents but he is pretty funny and always interesting. I took this for gen ed, but enjoyed the class overall. He doesn't post lecture notes online so be sure to go to class! Use the textbook to study for tests. The paper is meant to be easy.
Dr. Evans' lectures are informative and very interesting. Go to class and you'll be fine. The papers are easy if you follow his rubric. However, he rarely answers his emails, and he didn't show up to his last office hours before finals. Other than that he's a great professor if you're even remotely interested in the subject material.
Prof Evans is passionate about the topic. He assigns 3 papers at 3 pages minimum, they're easy if you have the book! His lectures are interesting and his tests are fairly easy (if you study) - multiple choice and T/F. The T/F can be tricky. He's funny and often times goes on tangents. I would take him again if I had the opportunity!
I loved his class. His lectures were always interesting. His papers were a little tough to write but he will always help you if you need it. Having the text book makes it so much easier to write his papers and study for the tests. It is a easy B but a hard A. I would definitely recommend him.
There are 10 projects and 2 tests during the semester, projects are independent, easy but time consuming. You don't really NEED the book but its helpful with the projects. He gives lots of examples in the notes for topics, notes are not the best but he gives decent lectures.
Very entertaining in lectures! 4 papers but typically if you wait till the last minute, he'll go over the topic in class and you'll have something to go on. They just take time, but aren't hard/REALLY boost your grade. Textbooks (3) MANDATORY. Tests aren't bad if you study the test review material. Sometimes he repeats stories he tells lol
I've had Dr. Evans for three classes, and three classes was enough. While the incentive to taking his classes was how easy they are, it wasn't enough of a trade up for his bigotry. This semester was the worst with him, and he often went off on irrelevant tangents instead of teaching us. He doesn't end up covering all the material. Don't take him.
Make sure to do good on his four papers, they were a pain but don't leave them till last minute because the highest grade he gives on papers is a 95. His class was never boring and his lectures are amazing, he gives study guides but the tests were sometimes a little tricky. The only extra credit he gives is a course code you can purchase.
Mr. Douglas was an okay teacher. Take his papers seriously because they are one of the few things you get a grade for. In the beginning of the semester he lists extra credit on the syllabus- do this by the end of the semester and you get 6 points added to your average. You do have to pay for it but its worth it. Tests are very difficult.
Interesting and enjoyable, especially if you like the subject. Has a tendency to go on tangents, but he is a great speaker and I always found myself liking them. Pretty funny too. You pretty much have to do the extra credit to get an A. Tests were hard but he gives you a study guide. Those architecture questions, oy. Fun class though.
He wasn't great. He would often get off topic during lectures and the tests are made up of only lecture notes. He isn't very clear about what's on the test even though he gives study guides. He's very all over the place and confusing. His notes are vague and you won't learn much about the class. I was very disappointed.
6 grades total encompassing 5 tests and 1 paper. Everyone got an automatic 95 on the paper. Tests are based off of his lectures, and can be a little tricky with words.
Your only grades are 4 papers and 2 tests. Papers are relatively easy, but lectures/powerpoints are basically useless as there is almost no info. He is incredibly sexist. He treats girls like they are one entity and have not progressed past the ancient times he is teaching. He hardly uses webcourses and gives zero feedback on papers.
Class consists of only 6 grades, 5 tests and 1 paper. He does not take attendance but his tests are LITERALLY THE NOTES and are usually only 30 questions. Gives study guides for his tests as well. You get an automatic A on the paper if you just turn it in. He's easy, as long as you study for the tests. Recommend.
5 exams, 1 paper. Exams are solely class notes but provides study guides. Yet, notes are oddly worded so you must learn word for word. He's easy as long as you get the notes and memorize the topics on the study guide.
He is a great professor! Took him for Humanistic Tradition I for Summer B this semester. He is NOT sexist; he is just not a liberal and I have a feeling he is old-fashioned. He is an engaging speaker and is super funny. Class was three tests and 4 papers and is easy if you pay attention! He invites participation and questions. Very nice guy.
I thought Professor Evans was entertaining. He is definitely not a boring professor. However, I did not like that he persistently goes off on tangents about his personal life and fills up time telling irrelevant stories. It is definitely not productive and/or stimulating. 5 exams and grades justly. Relatively easy to talk to. 6/10 professor.
Dr. Evans was the first professor I had at UCF. He is very entertaining and gives good lectures, he does go off topic but usually the stories are pretty funny. I never opened the textbook, but there are 10 projects and two exams. Projects are very easy, and exams aren't too bad as long as you study the terms he gives you on his study guides!
great professor
he was a great professor that is hilarious. he gives you notes and study guides. world religions was a really easy and interesting class because of him. he might go off subject often but he knows his stuff and you understand the information.
This class was so easy! You have 10 "projects" that you do in class and he gives you the answer for basically every question. He's so funny and has so much knowledge about the subject. 100% recommend.
The class is mostly exams, so go to class, take notes, and study. He doesn't offer extra credit. The exams are literally the notes. Surprisingly, you will have a better chance at passing the exams if you study the notes rather than the exam reviews. The lectures are interesting, but can get boring. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass.
Pretty easy class. Would suggest just getting the notes from a friend because the lectures aren't mandatory and he rambles sometimes. There are 10 "projects" done in class, a midterm, and a final. Overall easy class. Took during Summer B and passed with a B+.
Prof. Evans is very easy in his Hum 2020 class. He assigns 10 projects that you do in class and if you listen HE Will give you the answer to the first two or three questions. Only tests are the midterm and final. Study ONLY the study guide and you will do really well. Final is hard but he gives 5/5 free points for participation. Take him.
interesting class
would recommend taking Professor Evans. He played Whatta man by Salt n Peppa today. He always keeps it interesting and the tests are fairly easy
Nice guy but likes to drone on. Doesn't post anything online so going to class for notes is a must (he doesn't take attendance though). Only based on 3-4 tests and a final. Willing to help outside of class though. Didn't read the textbook really ever, if you have any questions, the internet worked well.
He is definitely a very easy going professor. Sometimes he can go on and on about a particular subject or his own life examples, which can make his class a bit boring. The class is relatively easy once you understand how he grades the assignments. Otherwise his class is pretty easy and, on occasion, he can be a funny guy.
Dr. Evans is a funny and engaging professor. However, the class grade is 3 tests and 4 papers; tests often include random material not on the study guide and the papers' directions and grading aren't clear. Virtually no use of Webcourses made assignments and deadlines convoluted. His views on gender are very traditional which may offset some.
Dr. Evans is hilarious! The material taught is very dry but he tries to make it interesting. Your course grade is based off of 4 papers and 3 tests which are multiple choice/true and false. You have to put in effort in get the grade.
This is an easy GEP class. There are 4 short papers (3-4 pages) and 3 tests throughout the course. He makes his lectures interesting with simple notes and off-topic stories to spice up the class. Great personality and not a tough grader at all
Prof. Evans was one of my favorites! He was very enjoyable as his lectures could be quite hilarious. Sometimes he does go off on ya gents but overall he's very engaging and makes the content easy to understand. There are 10 projects worth 5 pts and only two major tests: the midterm and final. Loved him and would take again.
Professor Evans is a nice guy, but he goes off on tangents and his tests tend to include random information not in the book or lectures. I feel like the entire course was taught out of context. 4 papers and the extra credit saved my grade.
Easy class to take if you need that social foundation credit for your GEP. Evans is a great professor and the class is a whiz if you show up and pay attention, just listen to what he says and you'll be straight. Test are easy so no need to stress, take this guy man
Great professor. His lectures were good and hilarious although he got off track often for good reasons. Total of 10 assignments and 2 tests in this course. For assignments, he gives the first two answers and the rest were on notes and textbook. The tests have reviews which were pretty good, but still need to know how to apply material on tests.
I absolutely loved taking this class. Professor Evans was hilarious, there was never a dull moment. While he did get off topic we always learned something new and he would edit the tests accordingly. The only advice I can give you is mind the due dates for the essays, they are all given at the beginning and tend to be left until the last minute.
I love this professor. He is super entertaining and very knowledgeable. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I wouldn't skip if you can help it. Everything you need to know is said during his lectures. He projects his lecture outline on the board, and honestly, that's all you really need. There is a book for the class, but I didn't buy it nor need it.
Study guides help alot.
