He is the most hilarious, fun loving guy in the world! He really loves biology and that totally comes across in his lectures. I actually had fun in his class. (oh, by the way, he really likes birds. he looooooooves them.)

He is funny and loves his job. If you go to class and pay attention it,s not that hard of a class.

Having taken Biology 42 with Maruniak and not doing well, I opted to retake the class and thankfully Dr. ****ou is a much better teacher. His lectures are fun and he keeps the useless info to a minimum. The tests are fair if you attend lecture reguarly.

This guy is obsessed with birds and hates California. He wears a Hawaiian shirt and sandals to every class regardless of the time of year. You never need to open the book because he tells you everything you need to know. Since lab is worth 40%, the class is very easy, and he's a funny guy.

LOVED HIM! Not only is he great in class and really keep you attentive (which of course helps recall) he also is just a really great guy. Talked with him about evolution a lot and he was SO informative and passionate! Tests very fair but have to know your material. Hated the labs (most)- LOVED HIM!

While Dr. Gayou may not actually be a hottie, he is an extraordinary teacher...he keeps the class alert through he frequent yells and digressions. possibly the best teacher i've had in my very brief college career.

Hilarious! My absolute favorite class. My margins are covered with Gayou quotes about bobcats and elephants and Stinger missiles, which not only make me laugh but help me remember the material. I just wish he taught more classes!

Gayou is one of the best. He knows the stuff, tells you exactly what you need to know for his tests and future classes, and keeps it interesting all the while. He'll definitely keep you awaki and interested with his crazy stories and random outbursts.

Don't miss a lecture - if you do get the notes from someone, and memorize your notes before exams because all questions come from lectures. Reading the book is pointless - I wish I hadn't bought one. I don't like biology, but Gayou made it interesting because he has a great sense of humor and made it interesting (sometimes).

If you go to class, you will do fine. If you skip, you will really do poorly - and then complain about it.

Very interesting and exciting professor. If you go to class and take notes, then study for the test's with those notes you will get an A. Gayou teaches really well, just pay attention in lectures and the tests are easy.

LOVED this class. Be warned, you MUST ATTEND EVERY SINGLE DAY to do well on the tests. Also, you need to take notes on every detail and date he mentions because he might test you on it. It sounds hard but not that hard if you take notes on a computer. He is HILARIOUS. HIGHLY recommend this class, you learn tons!

People complain about his tests being too specific, but he warns you exactly what he tests on. If you decide not to go to lecture and take detailed enough notes, it's your own fault because he tells you what you need to do, and if you do that this class will be a cakewalk. He's pretty funny and animated when he lectures, so its not bad at all.

Generally an interesting guy, keeps your attention whether it be through bad jokes of his thunderous voice. Tests are fairly easy if you understand the material and then go over it the night before: it's all multiple choice, but unfortunately there are few tests, which means less room to screw up, so do well in lab! Dr.Gayou is a great teacher!!! He is very interested in student learning and will throw tricks into the test. Tests are relatively easy if you go to lecture and pay attention. Look for odd questions especially ones that pertain to birds. and read the tests questions slowly!! He will change one word from the previous test that will change the answer

Gayou is a good teacher! He is entertaining and goes off on rants pretty frequently but it's funny to listen to. I feel like he makes the subject pretty easy and the tests aren't too bad. He's a nice, friendly guy and he loves what he teaches.

There's certainly no need for another person to say this, but Dr. Gayou is fantastic! Definitely go to lecture. You won't do well on exams unless you do, and make sure to take notes on even the tiniest details, especially his examples. Lots of exam questions on the most random things!

Go to every lecture and you'll do fine. Doesnt use the book very much if at all. He can be tricky on exams. Make sure and read each Q carefully. He is a fun and interesting professor. He makes class fun. I looked forward to going to his class. Just be prepared to be told that birds are the best thing in the world. Look at notes over and over again.

always go to class and take good notes! his exams all come from the notes. his questions are tricky but just read the notes-rarely used the book. the lab section is actually harder and more of a pain than lecture. he made lecture fun and interesting.4 exams are your grade, and he acts tough. he cant distinguish "deserts" from "desserts"...haha.

Gayou is definitely one of my favorite teachers he keeps the lectures interesting. You do not need the book we used it maybe twice and he told you what to go over (can easily google info) when he says to look at it do it he asks one or two questions on the exam from it. Also all the exam questions are from his lecture notes.

He's a really cool guy that makes lecture fun. Go to every lecture (especially Fridays) and write down all of the examples. You'll do fine on the exams. I got the book but found that reading it doesn't really help me do better on the exams.

Dr. Gayou has been my favorite professor while being at MU! I definitely recommend him for BIO1500. It's necessary to attend class and take very specific notes. Even things you do not think are important at the time often show up on tests. I never read the book and still got an A in the class.

The guy loves his jays. He's very enthusiastic. Pretty crazy, but overall a good teacher. His tests are more lecture-based than conceptually based. He focuses on small details, like specific animals and where they live. I bombed the first test because I studied the book. But then I learned. Don't buy the book. It's pointless. Take good notes.

Dr. Gayou is very enthusiastic and keeps the class interesting, event though it is an intro bio class. As long as you go to class and take good notes, you should be fine.

Dr. Gayou was by far my most enthusiastic teacher this semester. I'm not at all interested in Biology, but he made this my favorite class. The tests are hard, focusing on small details, but it's all lecture based, so go to class and take good notes. That's all it takes to do well. He's definitely a professor I'd recommend.

He's a fantastic teacher. He is extremely eccentric and loves birds, but he definitely keeps class interesting. It's true that his tests are different, but they aren't necessarily hard or tricky. They are just worded in a way that most people aren't used to and the practice tests help a lot with that.

Gayou was super dynamic and easy to pay attention to. His tests were simple because he tested only over the lectures. Lectures are not mandatory but if you miss it defiantly get notes from a friend. The lab is SUPER easy too- never was in lab for the full 2 hours.

If you have to take Bio1500 Gayou is the man! Keeps lectures interesting and is extremely funny. Tests are multiple choice and directly from the lecture notes. If you need a powerpoint for notes I wouldn't recommend him however because he pretty much just stands and talks for the entire lecture while writing a few key words on the board. Easy A!

He is very clear inhospitable expectations and his tests are very fair. He will ONLY put material on the test that he covers during lectures, so take good notes and do yourself a favor and study for the first test... A lot of people underestimate the class and get a wakeup call after test 1. But overall a good class and a great professor.

Dr. Gayou makes lectures interesting, make sure you take METICULOUS notes and when i say meticulous i mean you have to write down EVERYTHING he says. Every single exam question is based off of lecture so don't bother buying the book. If you take good lecture notes and study you should have no trouble doing well on exams. He keeps it interesting and gives example after example making concepts easier to understand. All around a great teacher and very fair exams.

GREAT PROFESSOR! He challenges you but not to the point where you can't achieve. Work hard and study hard and you'll do great. Very good lecturer. But you have to go to every lectureget notes from a few different friends in order to do well on the tests. Some questions are even: "What was being discussed during lecture when Dr. Gayou was talking about XYZ?" Overall, very interesting class. Unfortunately, you will do a lot of studying of the lectures, but you will score high in the class if you go, take EVERYTHING he says down, and study.
