This class is difficult, especially if you don't come from an ag mechanics background. Take advantage of the labs to learns hands-on what you didn't understand in lecture and ASK QUESTIONS! Lots of homework and exams are very difficult, but if you want to learn you will do good! Professor Kingman cares about his students and knows his material!
"THIS CLASS IS MACHO STUFF MAN, AND NOBODY FREAKIN' CARES!" Kingman is one of my favorite professors at A&M. He expects you to learn a lot of it on your own and in the lab. I hated it at first but now that I have had him for several classes I appreciate it. Unlike lots of classes, I look forward to going to Kingman's class every week.
His style of teaching was really enjoyable for me. Assignments are straightforward and well-put-together.
He's really rude during class but seems to care about the students, or at least the grade distribution that comes at the end of the semester
Dr. Kingman is fun in lectures, and tries to makes things interesting. This class is hard if you don't have a history with mechanics. With that being said, I have failed every test and I still have a B in the class. Show up for class because he gives "quizzes" to give you free points to buffer your grade. Not hard to pass the class if you show up.
Kingman is a very knowledgeable professor and expects his students to actually learn the material. Very little tolerance for laziness or dishonesty.
Kingman is an amazing prof. Funny guy who cares about what he teaches. There is a lot of homework in this class but it is all straight out of the book. test are actually pretty tough and his reviews kind of suck but honestly if you just read the book and take good notes you'll be fine. It is fairly difficult to not make an A in this class.
Dr. Kingman's class was by far the most enjoyable class I have taken at A&M to date. He is hilarious during lectures and makes it easy to pay attention. His lectures prepare you well for the tests. His tests are not overly nitpicky he tests basic concepts, but make sure you know your parts (engine, differential, torque converter). Would take again!
Dr. Kingman is the greatest professor I ever had. He cares about students and very knowledgeable. The tests are not difficulty as long as you study the topics on the exam review. Definitely would take it again!
Watch the videos and read the book
This class was honestly the worst class I've taken while at TAMU. His online program (only option for this course) is designed as if we are all OSHA certified inspectors. False. There was no lecture videos posted as mentioned in the syllabus and all the quizzes are timed so get ready to read a 20 page chapter for maybe 3 pages of regurgitated info.
He connects very well with the boys in the class. He is not tolerant of girls. Surprised he doesn't realize he is discriminating, I think he is clueless that he treats girls unfairly. True most girls don't have as many hands on experiences from growing up as most the boys but pair appropriately.
Honestly my favorite professors at A&M so far. As a girl with zero background in engines/tractors/etc I got an A fairly easily. 0 tolerance for laziness/dishonesty. Quizzes most class days, basically free points. Tests: take good notes, pay attention to what he says is important, MEMORIZE DIAGRAMS! Also labs are huge for points. Fantastic man.
Cool professor. Just study pretty fairly. Do not miss lab or class and you will easily get an A. Without even trying.
DO NOT SKIP LECTURE. He does attendance pop quizzes sometimes, and I overslept on a day he gave out a 20 point quiz. He seems scary in lecture but is really funny and easy to talk to in lab. You absolutely need the book for homework and to study from, because his lectures don't cover everything. As a non-AGSM major, it wasn't that bad.
Professor Kingman is awesome. He really cares for his students and cares about what he is teaching too. He is understanding and really funny too so it makes the classes enjoyable. If you have an understanding of mechanics and engines this is a really easy and fun class, however if you are new to those kinds of things, this class might be difficult.
Professor Kingman is awesome. He really cares for his students and cares about what he is teaching too. He is understanding and really funny too so it makes the classes enjoyable. He knows that lots of the material can be extremely boring and he does a really good job of keeping you engaged.
Kingman was awesome. If you don't come from a place of knowing engines, the class can be a bit tough. Kingman wants you to learn though, and wants you to be engaged and ask questions. He is super funny and makes the class fun. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
It's the first year this class was taught so it was very unorganized and unclear what direction we were going. Easy A but you have to show up because there is a quiz every single day. Dr. Kingman is very rude if you have a problem but he can be funny and tries to make a boring class interesting. This class was a waste of time but an easy CD credit.
Kingman is the best prof I've had so far! He is funny in lecture, and while attendance isn't necessary, he usually gives you extra credit for being there. I went into this class with absolutely no knowledge in engines and got an A+! As long as you participate in lectures and labs, an A is hard to avoid. Little to no homework and studying!
Dr. Kingman makes it a huge priority for his students to be engaged and he would rather you know and have a passion for the material than just know it for a test. We had one test the entire semester, our final was a debate, open PowerPoint at home quizzes. Random extra credit. Attendances quizzes make up a good chunk of the grade. Awesome class!
Dr. Kingman is a fantastic professor. He really cares about what he is teaching and it shows. While attendance is not mandatory, he takes attendance every day and gives you points for showing up and participation. If you skip, you will not pass, even if you get 100s on every quiz and test. This is a great class with a great professor.
Professor Kingman was my favorite professor this semester! He is very engaging with his students and is passionate about learning. He is a hilarious professor and makes class very interesting and entertaining! If people complain about him on here, it is probably because they didn't show up to class. Show up and participate, and you will be fine!
Dr. Kingman genuinely cares about his students. I never once questioned that. He can be a bit intimidating, but he wants you to learn. He constantly asks for feedback and ways he can improve. This was the first run of the class so it was a bit harder to see where it was going, but he makes sure you have every chance to pass as we learn with him.
This class was fantastic. Dr Kingman knows his stuff and does everything he can to make it interesting. His sense of humor is great but sometimes comes off as abrasive to some people; I found him hilarious. Class material was thorough and interesting, regardless of, mechanical experience, expect to study. I would take this again in a heartbeat.
Very funny! It would've been an easy A for me if I did not miss a quiz. He is very funny. The lectures are pretty unorganized so I found it difficult to take notes. All in all a pretty good professor. I am taking one of his classes again this next fall!
Kingman is great & you should take him. His exams are essay pools & studying them for can be tedious but if you memorize the material he provides than it is so easy. 2-3 exams. He is hilarious. Take him.
If you take this class get ready for a great time. I took AGSM 105 the first semester Kingman ever taught it. Daily quizzes to ensure participation (easy 100s) and all group debates. No exams. He brings in other lecturers that are experts in their field. I throughly enjoyed my time in his class and you can tell he loves his job and his students.
Dr. Kingman is one of my fav all-time profs. This class was intimidating for someone with no mechanical knowledge, but isn't bad at all! Daily attendance quizzes make up a lot of your grade & if you go to the lab you get full credit. Study lecture notes and you'll do fine on the exams.
Even if you do not come from an ag background, TAKE THIS CLASS! I'm a marketing major, and I loved this class. His exams come from a question pool, and the debates are not as scary as they seem. Dr. Kingman is approachable and kind if you put in the effort. His classroom is energetic and fun!
Dr. Kingman is absolutely hilarious and a great professor that I would recommend to all students. His lectures are informative and peppered with well-timed jokes that often helps you to remember the material easier. The labs were very interesting, and I often felt more involved than I did in my own engineering classes. The tests are straightforward
Very easy A for a tech credit. The class starts boring however halfway through it becomes very engaging and fun so stick through. No tests, just quizzes but you're giving all the material (OSHA website) to answer. Tailgate presentations were a ton of fun and very great for building skills.
Show that you want to be there and that you care and Kingman will take care of you. He's not for the tender hearted but he is passionate about what he teaches. You don't need to have mechanical background to do well in this class, just make an attempt to learn. Very very fun class that I think everyone should take.
By far my favorite professor I've had! As for most college courses, if you treat your class attendance as you would a job (and actually show up), you will do fine is this course. Take note of what he says in class and review his lecture notes on your own time. Material taught applies to everyone and taking this course is a fun way to learn it.
Dr. Kingman is a great professor and really cares about students. His lectures are really captivating, and he teaches very well. He requires a lot of attendance quizzes which makes class mandatory.
live, love, kingman. that is all. i absolutely adore Dr. kingman that i decided to take another AGSM class next semester. he is super kind and his labs are so fun. i was kinda intimidated by this class but i finished strong. missing class though will sometimes make you miss a quiz. TAKE THIS COURSE
Really funny guy, knows how to make a lecture fun. I would definitely recommend taking his class if AGSM is one of your required courses
Attendance heavy! Causes you to miss quizzes if you don't show. Lots of guest speakers. Funny guy, but does bring in a lot of politics into class subtly. Do debates (easy 100 to replace an exam)! Debate and exam questions sometimes geared into race/politics but makes you learn that not everything is about that and have other explanations for that.
Dr. Kingman is so funny & makes this class a breeze. He will roast you, so beware if you're sensitive, but he makes lectures very entertaining. He gives you the exact exam questions beforehand, so it's an easy A. He does take attendance so you have to attend class!
Take him if you can, but be sure you can attend every class. Daily in-class quizzes are very easy, but lowers your grade substantially if you miss. He brings in guest lecturers frequently, content is actually interesting and he has a great sense of humor and seems to care about his students. Even in a class of 200+ kids, he made it feel welcoming.
Kingman is not very organized and changed the date multiple times however the class is still easy. Like others said you have to go to class. Going to class pretty much will get you an A if you do decent on the exams. Didn't really learn a lot but a good class to take if you need an easy A.
Professor Kingman is a great guy! He's very fun and enthusiastic about what he teaches. Take him if you can. Just attend every single class and you're almost certain to get an A. Join the debate team if you can because debaters are exempted from exams.
Dr. Kingman was fantastic. Great course material, lectures are fun, and there are plenty of cool guest speakers. Never knew how interesting water treatment, wells, and water shortages were until I took this course. Attendance is mandatory, and there are pop quizzes he uses to check attendance. Be sure to follow the specific requirements for exams.
Attendance is mandatory every class, but it does give you an easy 100% grade for every class. There's a guest speaker almost every class. I thought the exams were hard b/c he gives you no guidelines on what to study for the multiple choice. Feel like you can take an easier life & physical science credit. He does 2 debates in class each semester.
Easiest CD core class you will ever take. Tests are easy and he gives you a review with the essay questions a week in advance. Open mic and debates are super fun too. If you sign up for a debate, you get 20 bonus points added to your grade. Dr. Kingman makes lectures are fun, but there's a lot of guest speakers too.
If you like memorizing stupid facts and regurgitating information on an exam, this is the class you need to take. This class required barely any critical thinking skills or application based learning and relied on memorization. 2 Tests, 50% mcq, 50% frq. Lots of attendance quizzes. Debates (easy extra credit). Small assignments.
If you want to grind through powerpoints to study for tests, than this professor is the right one. The tests were just memorization from the powerpoints and the guest lectures. No critical thinking was done in this class. It's called Global Water Scarcity, but the majority of the class was about private water systems and Texas. Do not recommend.
cool prof but not the best at lecturing, he always goes on tangents and can be hard to follow. Luckily most of the class if guest lectures and the tests are straight memorization from the powerpoint. Overall an easy class but kind of a pain because it takes a while to memorize the powerpoint. He also gives essay prompts in advance. Decent.
Dr. Kingman is a goon. The dude is funny and made lectures fun and interesting. I've seen a few people complain on here but I think they just didn't show up to class. If you don't miss class you should have no problem getting an A. He even drops one of the three tests and a lot of the test information is simple and all uploaded online.
Kingman is hilarious! While his class is not the most interesting, he will do anything to make it fun and captivating for his students. A LOT of exciting guest speakers! Attendance is random, so I would be there! He is not afraid to crack a joke and make you smile. I have never seen someone so enthusiastic about water! Do recommend!
If you need a Cultural Discourse or Science credit, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Kingman! Not only is he a great speaker and humorous, but the guest speakers that he invites always had such interesting lectures. I would have never expected to enjoy a class about water as much as I did. Attendance quizzes almost every class. Excellent class!
EASY. but, fought to stay awake thru lectures. the prof does not lecture his own class, he brings in speakers who don't know how to speak to teens. Tests are based on facts you memorize from reading slides. only take this class if you can memorize boring facts. Attendance is a must but I never paid attention/ felt I learned anything.
Kingman is such a fun and funny guy. He made the whole class laugh. However, he doesn't actually teach us lol. He brings in speakers to EVERY class. I was expecting a few but not EVERY SINGLE TIME. The speakers are hard to understand and the quizzes that follow them are near impossible to get 100s on.
Professor Kingman was AMAZING! He makes his lectures fun and interactive and his debates make exams easier to pass. His TA Gianna was also great they both get back to you fairly quick via email. I would definitely take his class again.
He is a funny professor! lectures are interesting but tests are tough (seriously). ATTENDANCE is matters a lot for his class, otherwise, you have no idea what he is going to test on.
Professor Kingman was a pretty funny professor. Isn't the most fascinating, but it's still doable. Not an "easy A" because you actually need to study the powerpoints, but not horrible. He does attendance quizzes but it's usually opinionated. 3 exams with the lowest dropped, a group debate, couple of quizzes. I would recommend
it's really easy to get an a in the class, but the lectures aren't great. he's prone to going on tangents that aren't related to the class at all. while he lectures you can tell that he is extremely biased about certain topics, so i don't entirely trust all of the information presented to us in class
Great guy, makes everyone laugh, but isn't good prof. Goes on a lot of tangents during lectures, and lectures are pretty boring. Class is very easy if you show up to class.
He does tell you exactly what's on the exam but he's honestly really rude & not understanding at all. He once said in class that he didn't care if you got hit by a car, you still need to show up to class. On the first day he also said he didn't like us or care about us. There is no leeway for anything, he has a huge ego & isn't fair. Not enjoyable.
Kingman is a good professor who has engaging lectures, though I can see why it's not for everyone. He is very open with his beliefs and requires everyone to speak publicly in front of 300 other students, so I can understand why some people might not like his class. Do expect some very, very specific questions on exams.
Kingman is a funny and outgoing professor. The people who say hes mean or doesn't care are snowflakes. Its an unconventional class with debates, random public speaking assignments (open mic), and many guest speakers, but Kingman tells you EXACTLY what will be on the exam and how to get an easy A in the class.
ATTEND CLASS. He is VERY big and strict on this. He may not be understanding even if valid circumstances come up. Prepare to do public speaking - an absolute must of the class. Along with studying the slides before exams, the class isn't bad. Has a funny and loud personality, but it's not for everyone - his demeanor could come off as intimidating.
If I could go back, I wouldn't have taken this class. It was way harder than a 100 level class should ever be. That being said, his class is ok and you can do well. He just doesn't really care about you or that you do well. He told us that at the beginning of the semester.
Kingman seems to want every student to be able to actually learn in this class. Textbook is free. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but he gives attendance quizzes that he'll grade you on and if you miss one a few points are going to be docked from your grade, so I would just treat that as mandatory attendance. Attend every single lecture/lab
Kingman is a funny guy and the people saying he is mean/doesn't care don't understand humor as he is very clearly joking. Class is extremely easy and takes little to no effort. You'll have "quizzes" almost everyday, they are free points as long as you write anything. Exams are very easy and he gives a list of the possible free response questions.
This class shouldn't be as difficult as it was. My grade should either be an A or a B+. His attendance was always mandatory, which I don't usually have an issue with. Lectures were boringgg. Sometimes the test questions I don't even remember seeing or hearing so it's honestly a hit or miss. Final exam isn't mandatory if you like your grade!
For a cultural discourse credit I wouldn't necessarily advise taking this class. The attendance is mandatory and he gives out easy assignments and quizzes which are very helpful, yet expects you to memorize over 240 terms for each of the two required exams and memorize 23 open ended questions which he's tough on grading for no reason.
Dr. Kingman is a hilarious guy but he told us that he didn't care about us multiple times. There are 2 exams and an optional final. I studied a lot for both exams which have SO MUCH information and I still didn't do great on them. Go to lectures! The only really difficult thing was the exams, but you can still probably get by with an A
Kingman is actually amazing. The dude has great humor and keeps class interesting. I am so glad I took this course. Honestly, it was extremely easy. Love this guy!!
At first, I thought this guy was cool and it was an easy A, but I was wrong. He does NOT care about his students at all. He says that he doesn't care if you get hit by a car it's not an excuse to be late. Your grade depends on attendance quizzes, one open mic, and three tests the third one is optional and just bonus points. HE IS THE WORST!!!!!!!!!
I took this class for the cultural discourse credit, and it is not a bad class at all. However, attendance quizzes are given in class. The exams are not bad as long as you know the material. Overall, Dr. Kingman is a really funny, engaging, and personable professor.
Although attendance is mandatory (beware of attendance quizzes, they are SUPER easy though, straight from the slides), Dr. Kingman finds a way to keep the lectures engaging. Honestly just show up, take notes, and you will be fine. I usually studied the day or two before the exams and still got an A. Last exam (final) is optional!
Took this class because of many good 2022 good reviews (must have been a good yr) This class was WAY too hard for a 100 level course. HUGE so TAs do a lot. The grading was very strict, attendance is mandatory, and lots of pop quizzes. It could've been better but this prof virtually says he does not care about you in class! Lol. What? best of luck.
The class/layout is pretty simple, it's almost impossible not to get an A if you truly care/show up. Kingman's funny at times but it can get tiring. Exams are crazy hard but their a fairly small portion of your grad and there's 3 with 1 dropped. Attendance is mandatory.
Guys, Dr. Kingman is a GOATED professor. A lot of people who gave him low ratings DID NOT take advantage of his office hours. If you go after the exam, he is very generous with extra credit. That extra credit bumped me to a B to an A. He says that he does not care about y'all, but he is a softie.
He is very funny and knows how to keep your attention in the lecture (liked the topics included in the class). Lots of guest speakers. His grading includes 3 exams, 1 debate and attendance. Exams are pretty straight forward (if you get 70s, you'll most likely get a A on the class). Would take again
Easy labs, but the guy could literally care less about you. No bonus points. No extra credit. Tests are impossible to pass. I have never ever in my life felt so passionately about a professor to write a review until now. Avoid at all costs.
I guess he offered some students more leniency than others. i'm reading extra credit offerings at office visit on here. That isn't fair. I did not get extra credit & I doubt he curves.Could be a great class & maybe it used to be. IMO too hard and too serious for an ag elective...should be fun & interesting. Class was too big w/ too much left to TA.
This class could have been a really great class and I think most of us were expecting it to be.However emphasis was too great on attendance and papers.Large class and not personal.Professor is arrogant at times and honestly seems to not care about students.TA graded so hard and I really learned not too much. Boo.
Do not be fooled...the subjective and tedious nature of this class, coupled with the elem concept of mandatory attendance, makes this a harder class that 100 level electives would lead one to believe. Take something else if you can. This prof does not want you in his class it would seem by his actions. (:
Prof is a big goofball, but the class is very easy. Barely any homework, in-class quizzes are opinion-based, and tests are just memorization off slides (admittedly annoying but doable). Just go to class and you'll get an A.
Dr. Kingman is probably one of the best professors I've ever had, and was a great introduction to my first semester at Texas A&M. He rants in his lectures but undoubtedly knows his material and will try to keep you engaged. When taking his class be PROFESSIONAL, and SIT in the FRONT rows. His 105 class is pretty easy if you SHOW UP and engage.
This was a mandatory 8am class, but I enjoyed it. Sometimes boring, but Dr. Kingman really cares about his students. He does not tolerate any violation of Aggie Honor Code and will call you out mid class, so just do what you are supposed to! Overall, great semester.
Light-hearted lectures and a great attitude made the mandatory attendance policy very easy to abide by. Homework is incredibly straightforward, and group projects are graded on effort, not quality. Professor himself as well as the TAs were a blast in class. But beware - the tests will take you by surprise if you don't know the material.
You must attend most of the lectures or you will fare poorly on the exams. By no means is this class an "easy A" if that's what you are seeking. Some TAs are harder at grading than others. The information is interesting and his lectures are informative, its a niche subject, would take again.
Professor makes the lectures engaging and is pretty funny. Attending class is a must and you do need to take notes and make an effort to get an A. Assignments are not difficult and are not time consuming. You do need to study for the exams but again they are all average in difficulty. Grading can depend on the TAs sometimes.
amazing prof who expects respect and commitment from students.
Dr. Kingman is knowledgeable & funny. Attendance is mandatory! Only problem is TA's were rude. Attendance was switch from paper to iclicker mid-semester. I missed check in so I went to a TA. She had an attitude and said it was my fault after she saw me in class the entire time. This exact absence was what kept me from having an A in this class.
Kingman was a great professor!
If you need an easy credit, take this class. A lot of quizzes but they're all open-note and can be completed in class; no homework. 2 exams w/ offered study guides. There are a lot of guest speakers. Attendance is not mandatory but there are quizzes that need passwords that are given out in class as well as open-mic sessions.
Show up to the lectures. Has mandatory participation where you go in front of the lecture hall and speak to the class. If you miss it, chances are you will fail. Very funny and very good at getting information across. If you are making an A at the end, you don't have to take the final. Mandatory debates as well. Would take again.
Attendance is rough but its chill :)
Attendance is mandatory for most activities, including debate and open mic. His lectures were entertaining, and the guest lectures for his course were also pretty good. Homework is very light: I only needed at most 1 or 2 hours outside of class every 2 or so weeks. Critically thinking about water has never been hard.
He choses a random group of student to present themselves to the class every lecture in order to get people to go, but you only do it once a semester. Even though that's the only real incentive for going to lecture I never missed a class because they're so entertaining. If you go to lecture and study a day or two before the test you'll get a A.
Great prof that gives good lectures. must show up bc of 1 small assignment each day that can be completed in class.
Dr. Kingman is the GOAT! As a freshman taking AGSM 105 as an elective, I really thought it would be boring but I was so wrong. His lectures are well thought out, inspiring, educational, and pretty funny. Just make sure you pay attention because he has no shame calling out sleeping students in a light hearted way. Great professor!
Easy class. This never happened to me, but it seemed like every class he would call out somebody sleeping. I found it a bit odd to do that in such a large class where attendance is mandatory. A lot of little things like that make it seem like he lacks sympathy toward his students. He is a slightly nicer person 1-1, though.
Such an easy class, show up for attendance and know the terms and you should be fine. Assignments are so simple and can be completed during class. Random guest speakers are very entertaining, just like the professor's usual lectures. Love him because he made the final optional, truly a KING.
Easy A. Just show up to class 2x a week, take good notes, and sometimes do a 30 minute HW assignment. Exams were given clear reviews, he also highlights exact exam questions during class everyday. Didn't study more than 3 good hours each exam and got As. He WANTS you to get a good grade, but you still have to put in the bare minimum work.
This man is the best man you'll ever meet. His lectures are engaging and it's an even better class. The class is stupid easy and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an easy A. Attendance is mandatory, but me showing up for 2 days was worth 20% of my grade, plus he made exam 2 optional (the final).
Attendance is mandatory. I didn't pay attention to any lectures, so I had to study more for the tests. I made C's on both tests and still had an A in the class and didn't have to go to the final. I would say the tests weren't easy but if you pay attention and take notes it would be. He is hilarious/very entertaining. He gives good study material.
This class is very easy if you put in an ounce of effort. Attendance is very mandatory. In class quizzes were very easy, open note, and usually had multiple attempts. Any project we had was not time consuming and graded very easily. Kingman was very funny and really helped you know what would be on the test and what he wanted essays to look like.
His class, overall, was extremely easy IF you put in the work (exams are intensive) and show up for class. However, if you are looking to actually learn something or have even just a little feedback on your exams and quizzes, I wouldn't take Dr. Kingman at all. He's a nice and funny guy, but nothing really more than that when it comes to teaching.
Professor Kingman is a really good prof. You should show up to class, even if you don't take any notes. He will occasionally yell when he's going over the slides but he does that to try to engage the class because sometimes it can be a bit boring. You barely need to put any work in to get an A. All you need to do is try and you'll be fine!
If you want to be treated like an 8th grader then I couldn't recommend this class more. But as someone who's a senior taking this class for credit, he is the worst. Never in my 4 years of college have I had a professor be so intentionally rude yet think he's the best and most hilarious professor on campus.
Dr. Kingman is very educated and passionate about what he teaches. TAs are always on top of things like announcements, emails, etc. Class quizzes are very easy and open-note. Exams require studying, but he gives you a study guide that helps a ton and makes exams easy. Attendance is incentivized by a random name drawing questionnaire every class.
Kingman is an amazing lecturer and knows how to keep the class awake. Most of your grade is in-class activities which are easy 100s.
I highly recommend Dr. Kingman! He makes 8 ams not so bad with his hilarious comments and he truly cares about his students. He provides study guides for exams and in class activities are a big part of your grade so don't miss them!!
Funny guy that truly cares about what he is teaching. Everything is accessible outside of class and the work is fairly simple as long as you pay attention in lecture. Can be a bit much at times, but overall very good professor
Took as an easy elective to help pad my ETAM... Didn't end up being a wise decision in the long run since I had to pull together a great performance on the exams due to a missed quiz. Pay attention to lectures! The exams had random blurbs of information that were only mentioned in a random sentence the prof said.
Dr. Kingman was very funny, beware of him randomly screaming and ranting about engineering students. There were a couple guest lecturers and lots of in class quizzes for understanding. Show up and really pay attention and study to get the A. For a science course (as a non science person), this was great.
Stay on top of all outside of class assignments. If you miss even one thing, it'll be very hard to get an A. He is not forgiving if you have emergencies. He excused me from class to fill out a police report and gave me a 50 on our in class assignment. Then yelled at me saying I don't deserve an A. He is not a kind man. Don't miss class EVER!
Dr. Kingman's course is an easy participation grade. Just show up and basically you pass. But you have to do every assignment he gives you or else you'll get a B (I missed a single assignment and ended with an 87 in the class). As test prep he makes you debate. It's fun! He's also a funny guy. Take this for cultural discourse credit.
This class is heavy on attendance. There is an assignment almost every single day (super easy), but that is what counts as the majority of your grade. Exams are only worth 30% of your final grade, but they are hard so take them seriously. Overall this is an easy A as long as you show up for class and study for the exams.
Easy A if you attend class, I only skipped twice. However, I would have learned just as much had I not attended class - I only studied the slides for an hour to prepare for each exam. I did other work in class because the in-class worksheet took me 5 minutes to complete. He yells in class to try to get students' attention, but it was obnoxious.
Overall, if you go to class and do your work it's genuinely an easy 70% of your grade, and due to the class not being very technical, the exams weren't difficult and required minimal study. In addition, Kingman is a professor who cares. I'd recommend this class.
He was truly an excellent professor. While some may have found his personality a bit intense, I really appreciated the energy and enthusiasm he brought to every lecture. His classes require active participation and thorough preparation, but that's what makes them so engaging and rewarding. I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
Just pay attention and clap for him and it'll be a fun class!
Do not recommend this class. Tests are kind of hard and there is an in class assignment every day and missing one will really hurt your grade. TA's and prof are rude and tough graders on super simple assignments. You will also see lots of people get yelled at. Overall not a good class. You do get let out early most days which is a positive.
I expected AGSM 105 to be an extremely boring class, however Professor Kingman was an amazing teacher. He kept the class lively with jokes, and had multiple guest lecturers to come on stage with their own specialised careers. Scoring in this class isn't that hard if you attend classes and review the exams the day before.
Should be an easy A but you CANNOT miss a single assignment, and they pile up high, he has clear instructions, can come off as rude but means well and wants students to succeed within his criteria.
He is super funny. You have to put in effort, but can get an A pretty easily. There are debates but it was fun and doable.
Not the worst cultural discourse credit you can take, but just beware that almost every lecture includes an in-class assignment, so attendance is mandatory. Tests are sort of difficult but aren't weighted as much so an A is still easily achievable. Be prepared to stand up and speak in front of the class for debates or the "open mic" assignment.
Dr. Kingman is awesome although he can sometimes be a bit harsh. Really funny and entertaining lectures even though I have zero interest in the subject. Exams aren't weighed much and there are 2 of them. You can average a c in that and as long as you do what you gotta do on the other assignments an A is easy.
This class is honestly just whatever; it's not hard to fail at all. Exams are only worth 30% of your total grade, and the other assignments are not hard. Professor Kingman is really funny; the class is not as structured, really, but it has some interesting topics. Guest speakers do play a big part in this class, and often they are really boring.
Dr. Kingman is a very passionate teacher and just wants to extend that out to his students. He will give a lot of in class assignments that play a big part in the grade book, so make sure you go to class. But will drop the last test so you just have to do good on the first two.
Kingman is a really good prof. He does however care a LOT about attendance and punctuality. He does a lot of in class assignments and quizzes with codes that he puts on the board and will call you out in class if he thinks you came into class late because you realized there was an ICA. Just show up and you will be fine. Its all memorization anyway.
I loved this class! In class assignments just about every class and introductions make attendance basically mandatory if you want to pass. Show up to class and show up early! Lectures are fun and super interesting. Tests (3) can be difficult so paying attention in class in crucial. Overall my favorite course from this semester and great professor!
The class itself is easy, but the tests can be a bit difficult, so you need to pay attention and take notes. Lectures sometimes felt like a waste of time, but attendance was required for in-class quizzes. The optional final was nice. He's very sarcastic—sometimes funny, sometimes annoying.
I actually enjoyed his class! He's funny but can get annoyed easily by students. Attendance was pretty much mandatory because we always had an assignment right after the lecture. The tests are hard if you don't pay attention. Just do the in class activities and get 100s on those, that way you can get 70s on all your tests and still end with an A!
This class was really interesting and Professor Kingman is a funny guy. Beware of attendance mattering, because if you miss one class, you will mostly miss a couple graded assignments. His tests are fairly easy if you somewhat study. Only thing is that each class has a graded assignment which means that attendance is basically mandatory.
