CJ 100 was my all time favorite class at the University of Alabama.

Took Professor Klutz's online class in the interim session. I thought the reading material was helpful along with the video lectures.

Internship class with Klutz was a great learning experience. Learned a lot about the law and also really enjoyed my internship at the law firm.

I really enjoyed the class and Professor Klutz was a very helpful and caring professor. He goes above and beyond as a teacher.

I thought this class was great. I had to wait a semester to take it. Basically if you go to class and take good notes and do the out of class readings the tests are fine. You have to do both to do well on the tests.

Always learned so much in this class. His lectures are AMAZING. One of the only classes I actually looked forward going to.

4 tests in the semester and some outside readings. Lectures were always fun and interesting to go to.

Took three classes with Klutz throughout my college career at UA. Media and Crime was the last one and my favorite class with him. Studied about a lot of really interesting cases and their outcomes. No required textbook in the media and crime class either.

Class was always fun and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and helpful with career choices and what they require. He is also approachable and will answer questions that you have.

The internship course was very informative with career information. I learned a lot from both the course and my internship.

Professor Klutz is an awesome professor and CJ 100 was one of my favorite classes. Tests are not too bad as long as you go to class and take good notes. There are also weekly assigned readings but they are interesting and not bad.

Took this class online and it was great. Video lectures were a nice feature.

My focus is international law because I am an international student but this class was good at covering American law. I felt like I learned a whole bunch about the American legal system.

The class itself was really big so it was hard to ask questions in class but he would always stay after class to answer any questions. He gives hints and examples in class for a lot of things that will show up on the tests. The textbook readings were interesting. I thought this was a great elective class to take and am glad I took it.

He's super clear in his lectures which are packed with information yet he keeps everything interesting. If you show up and take notes there's no reason you should get an A. Tests are online and open note out of class.

He is a great teacher and everyone seems to love him! I took his class because everyone said his test were easy but for some reason I just could not do well on them no matter how hard I tried. You won't do good on the test without the textbook and class notes

Klutz is a great teacher. I am guessing the people complaining about the tests are not coming to class and not doing the readings. He tells you you have to come to class and it says it on the syllabus. The tests are also open note so if you put in any amount of work they couldn't be much easier.

This is not a hard class per se as long as you go to his class lectures. He is very clear with lecture notes and requirements for the class. He was always available after class to answer questions. It would be hard to do well in the class if you skipped classes.

He is the best professor ive had at bama. his lectures are so entertaining. but you have to go to class to do well on the test. most of the questions on the test are asking what he said in lecture. Only 4 grades and those are the test. every class ended at least 20 min early. YOU SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS AS AN EASY A

Mr. Klutz gives amazing lectures that keep you interested and focused. The lectures/powerpoints are a huge part of the tests. He was very accessible outside of class and was willing to talk at length one-on-one about careers I wanted to pursue in the criminal justice world. Highly recommend you do whatever you can to take his class.

All you have to do to get a good grade is show up to class, take notes, and have the textbooks for the tests. Professor Klutz very clearly explains all the material well, and he frequently does examples that show up on the test. All the material covered is very interesting, and even though its a fairly easy class, I learned so much from it.

Easy boost for GPA. 4 tests and no final. If you go to class and take good notes, you will know exactly what to expect on the test. Topics are interesting and he is good at explaining. No extra credit but it is not need because the tests are all online, easy, and open book. Definitely buy the textbooks as they are a good chunk of the test.

I didnt need CJ, but I decided to take it because I heard he was a great professor, and he really is. I Highly recommend going to class because the test is mainly the notes he gives in class or theyre on the books assigned. If you dont go to class it definitely makes the test slightly harder. Also hes very accessible outside of class for help.

CJ 100 was an amazingly great class. His lectures were always very interesting and I felt like a learned a lot of new information every class.

You have two textbooks that you need to have, but they really help on the tests even if you don't read before. I highly suggest going once a week or at least the lecture before the test for the review as there will be material he tells you will be on the test in lecture. He was fun and I would definitely take him again, as this class boosted my GPA

I took Klutz for CJ100 in the spring of 2020, and not only was he a killer professor but he handled the transition to online school perfectly. The course was not a ton of work, but I also felt like I learned a ton. An outstanding and cool guy, always willing to help and super easy to talk to/contact. 10/10 best professor.

This was my second class with Klutz, and he was just as awesome in this class. It was fast paced with only a few tests but I learned a ton. You definitely had to watch his lecture videos to pass, but it was like 20 minutes out of your day so super easy. He literally gave you the answers in his lectures for the tests, especially his reviews. amazing

I took his internship class in the summer. The questions from the book were super easy and helpful. He responds quickly to emails. As long as you leave a good impression on your supervisor and keep up with your work and hours, it should be an easy A.

This was my favorite class this semester. Klutz posted the lecture videos online for us to watch whenever we wanted and we only had three tests all semester which were all open note. If you watched the lectures and took notes over it, the tests were really easy to get an A on.

Ive had this professor for two or three of CJ class and he is extremely knowledgeable of the subjects he taught and wrote a few books on the material he teaches. Hes accessible outside of class and he genuinely cares about his students that actually care about his class and are interactive. Highly recommend him!

There were three tests, each 33% of our final grade, but they're online on your own time and open note, so you'll be fine. Great real-world application lessons, too.

Klutz is a top rated professor for a reason. I'm a CJ major, but I'd recommend this class as an elective to anyone. Grade was just based on 3 online open note and internet tests and he added 3 points to your final grade at the end. Lectures were entertaining and he posted the slides from them on blackboard. Optional attendance but I always went.

Lectures are not mandatory, but I found myself attending every one, because Klutz's style, along with the course content, keeps students engaged. The whole class was graded by 3 online, open note tests.

Super informative class, lectures are a MUST. 5 assignments over 8 weeks, 4 open-note tests. The answers are held all within the textbook definitions and the lectures. Easy 100's on all the tests as long as you do the homework reading and lecture videos!

The best professor ever! I have taken CJ courses in the past and drowning on and on about SCOTUS cases can be super boring. Professor Klutz does a great job of making the class interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but its a class you will want to go to. He posts all the slides online.

This class consisted of 3 tests. His lecture notes are all online and tests are taken during regular class time at home online. No proctoring fee. Take him! You won't be sorry. Very easy class and minimal time needed to spend on it.

Great professor. Brings in real-life examples and is clear when teaching tough subjects. Tests can be taken wherever you want and they are multiple-choice. You can download the presentations in Power Point, no need to go to class.

You don't technically have to go to class as he posts all the powerpoints, but I would recommend it as it is always super interesting. Tests are very easy. He is very caring and willing to answer questions about class or anything CJ related. Take him!

The grade is entirely made up of the tests which are open note. While attendance is not mandatory or necessary to pass the class, I recommend going to lecture as often as you can because Klutz is the most interesting man to listen to. Thoroughly enjoyed his class 10/10.

Online interim class. Wish it had been in person but it was still a great class. 5 total assignments and it was a good amount of writing but the feedback was good and the assignments actually served a purpose. A little hard on the grading but gave good feedback to improve.

Although this class could be an easy A, your final grade is only based on 3 things. This made it so that if you do bad on one of those assignments you will not do good in the class. I ended up dropping the class because there was no way to recover my grade to an A after doing bad on the second exam. Just something to consider.

This was the second class I have taken with Klutz and it was more of a career planning and development class. The assignments were very helpful for internships and jobs. It was during the interim semester so it was a lot of work in a short period of time but feedback was quick and the class was manageable.

I literally never go to class and still have a 97%. If you take this class take it as a 9am because if you feel too tired it's fine to skip it. If you do happen to wake up early and go to class the lectures are super interesting!

Incredible. I'm not a Criminal Justice major but I do plan on doing law and he covered a ton of important material to help out in the future. The lectures are super super interesting as well. He also can set you up with internships if you ask him. If you miss class it isn't a big deal. Grade is based off 5 tests which are all online. Awesome guy.

Klutz is an amazing professor. His class is only lecture and all tests are online, but the questions come straight from the notes. Although class is not mandatory, I say go to class because there are things he mentions that will be in tests that he doesn't always put in his slides. (He uploads slides from class to blackboard)

Highly recommend as a social/behavioral elective. It was perfect taking alongside a tough engineering courseload as a GPA buffer. The class is incredibly interesting - I always felt motivated to attend and learned a lot. Klutz is very engaging and probably the best lecturer I have had.

Douglas Klutz is GANG; this class was lit!! I took his class the first semester of my freshman year, and truly, it was the highlight of my semester. The lecture was very interesting and engaging. Besides the lectures, we watched documentaries and had a guest speaker, both very helpful. This class inspired me to add a criminal justice minor.

Easiest A+ you can get. On top of that you're gonna love his classes. I took his class only for the GPA, but ended up learning a lot .

The material that he lectures about is all on the tests which are all open notes and taken online outside of the classroom. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. There wasn't a syllabus for the semester, so you really dont know whats going on. theres minimal communication outside of class as far as updates, whats coming up. so go to class and make it easier on yourself.

You have to go to class to do well on the tests. The test review days were really helpful and the lectures were always really interesting. I felt like I always learned something useful in class.

As long as you go to class and pay attention you will do well. Probably not the best option for people who want to miss class because the test material comes directly from class lectures. There are some textbook readings for each test as well.

This class is extremely easy if you take notes in class and try. Mr. Klutz is very passionate about criminal justice and it shows. He provides ways to become involved in criminal justice, or how your major can be used to get a federal job. He tries engaging with his students and really does want to see everyone succeed.

Be sure to go to class because he helps with the harder test questions. I started out not going to class and did bad on the first tests but then started going to class and did much better with the other tests. Nice guy and very knowledgeable if you have any questions to ask.

Valuable internship experience and was very helpful setting up the internship and helping with the paperwork and interview process. The internship itself required a large amount of hours to be completed. Difficult but good for experience.

Amazing summer class! The legal cases test is hard but he does allow you to refer to notes you have taken in class on the test. The other tests were a little easier than the legal cases test.

Great teacher and adviser. The 2 and 3 tests are the hardest in his 100 class but if you go to class you will do well on them.

Klutz is one of the most understanding teachers I have had. His material is easy, however, the slides he posts on blackboard wouldn't help if you didn't attend class. He writes bullet points but goes in-depth with them. I honestly don't mind waking up for his class at 8 am because it's very interesting.

I loved this class! Klutz is very knowledgeable and seems to enjoy what he is teaching. He posts all of the slideshows for class. They help give an outline of the material, but he goes over the details in class. He also will tell you specific things that are on the test in class. Grade is based on 5 tests.

I took CJ 310 under Professor Klutz and I absolutely loved this class. He offers great feedback on your assignments and provides great advice for internships and future careers. Take this class, you won't regret it.

Douglas Klutz definitely lives up to his reputation! I loved his lectures when I did attend. Unfortunately, I had an 8:00 am class with him and did not show up often so I would definitely not recommend doing that but the times that I did go, he was absolutely amazing. I will say, not going to the lectures did impact my grade on the tests.

Amazing professor, I took his course for a Social and Behavioral Credit. Tests always had a fun answer and then three real answer options. As long as you showed up for most lectures (or looked online for the lecture upload) You would do fine in his class. Funny and tried to let the class be involved, would also allow questions after class.

Seriously the best CJ professor at Bama! He genuinely cares for each of his students, and he is so kind. Also has great advice.

He is a really good speaker and makes listening easy. Talks about really interesting cases and seems to care about his students doing well.

Just show up to his class and listen to him like a podcast. Don't be like me and sleep in and just review the slides he uploaded to Blackboard, you need his commentary to get the full understanding of his teachings. Tests are open note but again, you need his commentary because his slides were just flash cards for him. Nice guy.

As a pre law student this class was very helpful with the law and learning about different cases. He was also very helpful with law school information.
