A great teacher and person. I actually enjoyed going to this class. At first I thought the class was confusing and he is a little disorganized but I was surprised at how much I learned. Pairing off into groups can be difficult if you get a dud partner but you can turn it around to your advantage. He’ll make you laugh and the class has very relaxed.

so he is hilarious and fun and hates staying more than 1/2 an hour in class! he is more than willing to let you redo homework to make sure you understand the topics rather than worry about your grade. If you try even a little he will reward you will decent debate scores. his tests are written (not m/c) so if you write enough and have an idea of whats going on you will do fine. just know the definitions of the topics he covers and you will ace every test. id highly reccommend him as a teacher!

Took during the summer. 4 speeches. I wrote one right before class and got a B. Let us out an hour early every day. Thoroughly reviews tests the day before. relaxed, no-pressure class. If you are afraid of public speaking take him.

kresse is so cool! i hardly ever went to class, but when i did i was never bored, he keeps it fun & interesting. the tests are hard & i never got good grades on them but somehow passed the class with a B! just do the EC ;) kresse gets an A+ in my book

Dr.Kresse is really cool. His lectures are not boring and you hardly ever see anyone yawn in his class. He knows how to crack some jokes and shows really interesting videos. You'd be mad not to take him.

Kresse is a good teacher. i enjoy his class. The class is cool not alot of people like public speaking. Kresse does lose it at time making **** remarks without even knowing. But it's not serious just akward remarks. I think I'm gonna pass though if I don't I'll come back and leave bad feed back. But it won't be neccessary.

He is a truly, honest guy. Very smart and suprisingly funny. Yet his teaching is a bit unorganized. He ended up removing things from the final because he never taught it to us in class! Class is fairly easy. I just wished he would teach a little more. He always released class early too. Overall I would recommend him.

Very clear and the material to digest for the exams is easy. What you really need to focus on primarily is just developing your debate brief, which becomes second nature soon enough. Lots of extra credit opportunities, take him if you're already taking a heavy workload and need a good grade.

I took this class in the summer and he was awesome. He made class fun and we got out early practically every day. He even offers extra credit at the end if you let him film you doing a speech. He was super nice and there was like no homework whatsoever. Take it in the summer if you are going to take it though, he cuts the speeches in half.

I had him for fall 2010 semester and it was a great class. Nice laid back instructor. Speeches can be "almost anything" with the exceptions being anything sexual, doing harm to others and stuff like that which is understandable. He takes speeches very seriously so make sure you follow the time limits and sources and the like. Thanks, Dr. Kresse!

This teacher is very easy and lenient. The tests were curved because he messed up on them. The tests are based off theories from the book and his lectures. He grades very detailed on your speeches so be careful when doing them. Some like his humor, some don't, for me it grow on him. Presentation on theories are easier than you think. Good class.

If you are looking for a spch class, take his! He is such a funny and easy going teacher. He plays a lot of video clips towards the begining of the semester which keep you interested. We gave 3 speeches, 1 essay and a 2 min speech at the very end of the semester and we only had 3 test that were multiple choice.- very easy!. Take him!

I love this class. Debates were challenging but professor was always available to help. He was fair in his critiques. Exams were fair; if you attended class and read the material, you could do well.

Easiest A of my life! Literally studied the night before the test, which btw you basically take the same test over & over again the whole semester. You can do the speeches on whatever you want. He is quirky, but that's his charm. Just go to class & do the work & you'll get an A.

This class was awesome! I learned a lot about different theories and I got to practice public speaking. I was nervous on day 1 but he made everyone so relaxed. Classes usually get out early. Read the book, or pay attention in class, and the tests are easy. Keep your speeches organized. Kresse is the best!

Fun class! I had him on Fridays. Did a couple of speeches and wrote one essay. His class was a breeze, but he's a hard grader. Other than that, he's really chill and an overall really nice guy. Take him!!

I loved kresse! he is so nice and expects you to do well. he is not a hard grader unless you go below or above the time limit. it's not hard to get an A if you pretty much do the work like any other class. but kresse has a great personality and is super cool :)

He's by far one of the nicest professors I've ever had. He talks to you like he's your friend. He pretty much remembers everybody's name which is phenomenal because not that many professors do that. I know it's not a really big class but it seems like you have a relationship with him, which is not the case in most college classes. I'd recommend him

Very friendly, helpful, and funny. Hard grader on debates. Tests were not that hard, but definitely study the notes. Vague when it comes to exactly what he wants on assignments. We were all confused. Almost never used the book, but the book is actually the teacher, since we mostly debated. Got out a few minutes early often.

Kresse is great! He can be super unorganized, though, and you lose 20 points if you don't do your speech... and you don't always know when or if you're going up. His book is not the best, but he gives good notes! Gives pretty great extra-credit opportunities, if you can do them. Lets you choose your own topics and tests are pretty easy.

Kresse is a super chill guy. I took debate because it's required for my major, so I wasn't particularly ever excited to go to class but Kresse made it pretty fun. He's very nice and is always cracking jokes and keeping the class light. Tests not too bad as long as you study (since he doesn't prep you well) and debates can be challenging. Work hard.

Kresse is a great professor. He is very passionate about his job, and 100% there to help you. If you want to pass the class, you will pass! Tests are based strictly off of the textbook, so it is a must have. 10/10 would recommend :)

Far and away the best professor I've ever encountered. When you think of the mentors that push people to be their best, Doug exemplifies the imagery. I don't think I'll ever encounter a professor, let alone a person, like him ever again.

He is an easy professor and lets you out early, but he is confusing. You'll do 3 speeches on any topic and he knocks out the 4th one. He also offers extra credit. He forgets a lot, but he is always smiling and makes jokes

I thought his class would be so hard, but once I got used to the format, I didn't look bad. His tests are kinda hard, so study everything he tells you to study and attend his lectures. He mostly grades off the debates and debate ballots (they're worth a lot). Highly recommend him. He's really nice and cares about the wellbeing of his students.

Very easy class. He's really laid back in his teaching style however, the class structure isn't very organized. He doesn't teach many of the things that are on the quiz so reading the book is necessary to pass them. Establish a good relationship with him from the beginning and he will go easy on you. Super easy and chill professor. Gives you full credit for late assignents and lets you move around your speech dates. Exams are very easy and lets class pick whats on the test. Easy A if you do all the work tbh.

I am not good at public speaking, but he made this class easy and fun. Went through the syllabus, I thought I couldn't pass this class at first, but an A+ final grade. He is there to help and treats his students as his children. Go to the tournaments if you have time. First for extra-credit, second for improvement. He offers plenty of extra-credit.

I was worried for the 1st month of class cuz he is disorganized, but this turned out to be one of my favorite classes to attend. Kresse wants all students to LEARN and pass. I learned so much about how to argue and debate in a class as well as amongst peers in social setting. Responds to every email/question and brings light to school atmosphere

Kresse was alright, he doesnt really explain things but I enjoyed his class and was able to get a 95 even though I didnt know much. He does give out a ton of extra credit which is nice and Im sure almost anyone who takes his class will be able to get a A or B. I will say make sure you know how to debate and understand it before taking his class.

This was my second speech class and at first it was a little difficult to follow along with a few of his lectures but he is very good at answering any questions you may have I definitely learned a lot from the debates we had in class he gave good feed back on things that my group and I could improve on. There was an embedded tutor which helped.

Early class at first I dreaded getting up so early, but his humor & the way the class was so easy made it better. We would literally have speeches every week- it was easy. There was supposedly a textbook- we used it like, once. Didn't get it bc our tutor would upload the pages for it. He also gave extra credit if we went to the tutoring sessions.

such an easy class. if you like having structure during class I would not recommend. most days are very lax but super super easy. if you are looking for a funny, laid back teacher I recommend taking. you learn like 3 things that's it. 4 speeches, 3-7 minutes. take his class.

seek help from others or go to office hours to see what he really wants from your debates. he really has no structure to his class so it is kind of on you to figure out what he wants from you. with that said, super super super easy. take him if you can. 3 debates, and like 5 tests (all are super super easy)

Doug is a pretty cool guy. His class was one of the most fun and laid-back ones I've enrolled in. I didn't learn much about public speaking, although, I'm not sure if that's due to his teaching style or the fact that I was enrolled in a 100-level course. He takes a while to respond to emails, but definitely makes an effort to get around to it.

Syllabus had a lot of things looked overwhelming but he is very generous with his grading and his tests are easy if you pay attention. He made the class enjoyable and eased us into the class. Professor Kresse is a good teacher and a nice guy. The stuff he talks about can be scattered and disorganized and some of the stuff in the book he uses is vague as well. Best thing you can do in the class is ask questions on what you're confused about...and if you put in the effort on debates an A is totally achievable.

Highly recommend taking Doug he is hilarious and only grades a few things, only few speeches, very caring to his students and gives you a good amount of time to do your speeches, he is very laid back and is probably one of the most classes I looked forward to on a good day, attendance is mandatory at the beginning but he'll lag on it later.

The absolute best teacher I have ever had. So completely invested in the success of each student. He sets the foundation, provides all of the tools and resources necessary, and cheers you on, loudly, the entire way to the finish line. To say he is the single most inspirational teacher at Fullerton is an understatement. Life-altering.

Prof. Kresse's COMM100 class is a real gem - super laidback and easy, with just a few speeches to deliver. He's hilarious and very generous with grading. I found unstuck ai super helpful for speech prep along with the class materials.

Very helpful in assessing how to present a speech, especially for someone without much experience in public speaking. He also offered good extra credit opportunities like going to a speech competition. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

This was a really good class, there were only 4 speeches students had to do throughout the whole semester, and a couple quizzes which were all multiple choice. You could choose any topic for your speeches and the Professor was really chill and graded leniently.

This guy is the goat. He's hard to access outside of class, but you probably won't need additional help since everything is pretty much self-explanatory. Speeches could be about any topic which is cool. My advice is to make a friend in this class to help you not fall behind. Read the textbook to help you pass tests. Super laid back class, 10/10.

This professor is good. As someone who's kinda quiet, taking this class was pretty fun, however, if you are like me, prepare for A LOT of presentations in front of your class. Writing drafts for these presentations can take up some of your time, but they're manageable and fun. He's very funny and lenient. However, he can be unorganized sometimes.

Super great guy, always wants to engage with everyone. I'm a quiet person, but Professor Doug made me want to interact and engage more with the class.

He's an OG communication professor; he knows the drill. He's a tough grader, but it's fine if you're prepared to do four presentations; that's all you need for a B. If you study for the exams, you can get an A. He's old-school, but sometimes he mixes up classes, so you might need to remind him what you did last time.

Great professor who cares about helping his students become good communicators. Also, sign up for the speech competitions! My peers and I received many extra credit points just from the speech tournaments and it ended up being one of the most memorable experiences!

Amazing prof, extra credit for days if you attend two extra debates, you could pass the class with that, will say, you have to be willing to put in work to understand how debate works, tests are easy-ish, you have to put in work to understand what you are debating, but this was a fun easy class, please take this guy if you want fun lects and credit
