One of the worst teachers I've ever had. He hated the students in the class, couldn't teach, and was an ex-Target store manager... need I say more?

Material was easy but the man just cannot teach... He should never teach again....

He cannot teach at all! He is lazy and unclear on the subject matter. His tests are a joke as are his notes. On my papers he'd make comments that made no sense or were obviously wrong.

Nothing but notes, class was boring, as were all his stories about when he worked at Target.

He is horrible. Unclear, doesn't return papers quicker than one month, examples were irrelavent. I am a manager, and I was failing his managment class. I tried to meet with him on three differnt occasions and he never showed up.

FRUSTRATING! I went to lecture and took notes, but they never seemed to make sense. The tests were impossible and hard to study for. Grading made no sense. He would change what he told you and expect you to adjust the syllabus on your own. Sometimes didn't show for an 8 AM. What management?

This teacher is a moron, he has no idea what a case analysis is and also has no idea what briefly describe means. If you can memorize his slides word for word then you will be just fine but if you are the kind of person who gets concepts forget it this guy is an idiot and doesnt even get them so he has to go off of his slides.

I think everyone has got it right on here. He is simply the worst instructor I have ever had. He is a moron, inconsistent grader, no common sense, and endless slides. I don't know how he is still teaching here, he even meantioned how he gets bad reviews every semester. If you are stuck with him, study from his slides you will fail with the book.

Whenever a girl's cell went off he would dance like an idiot. Whenever a guy's cell went off he would get this HUGE ATTITUDE. We are not exaggerating about this guy, he will make your semester hell.

He was the absolute worst proffesor i have ever had. He literally reads from the slide everyday and you take note. He then gives you the questions before the test so you take all notes to look at only a page. Inconsistent grader. Does not tell you what is expected untill the day its due so you have to do over. just horrible is all i can say.

I thought that he was awful. He was so very unorganized. We look at slides every class. Everyone is my class fail almost every test. NOone liked him. Was supposed to get a better grade he lost my homework.. He is just something else.

Ths teacher only lectures using power point slides. The lectures are long, boring, and unproductive. You will have to write 6 case analysis for this class and each one will take a lot of time and you will be given little direction on what is expected.

Worst teach I have ever had in my life. Grading is completely arbitrary. Lectures are excruciatingly boring with no relevance to the course material whatsoever. Absolutely HORRIBLE teacher. Do not take a class from this man or you will regret it.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! He always seems confused, he tells too many personal stories that takes time away from covering test material, he puts students on the spot, and his test review consists of this:"it's all important know it all." I am not asking to be spoon fed but that is not a review, esp. when he spends 1/2 of the class time w/personal stories!

this guy sucks, really bad teacher, this is my last year at ISU and this is the worst teacher i've had all four years. He thinks he's a great teacher because he uses cases like yale and such schools. The bad part is he doesn't know how to grade, he doesn't follow a scale. He also only talkd about himself, which is boring. he puts people on the spot

the only thing this uy knows is how to talk about himself. one of the worst teachers as ISU. I don't know why he's still around. Everyone in my class hates how he teachers. He's a little stuck up on himself, he thinks he's a great teacher.

Hands down...worse class I have ever taken. If you feel like guessing how to get an A or what type of "CASE STUDIES" he expects...take this class. He does offer assistance...only to confuse you and leave you wondering how such a "professor" is still employed. He expects information that is not even relevent to the class or case study.

This man obviously envies his brother a Nuclear Engnr. He however at best should still be working at Target as a cashier. His teaching ability is poor, significance of lectures are worthless. If you would like to case study his life story you would earn an "A" otherwise forget it. Avoid this person, he CAN NOT teach only preach.

Horrible teacher, case studies took over a month to grade, dont think anybody got an A. Favored 3 students the girl with the biggest you know and 2 basketball players. Couldnt even meet with him he never was in office during office times

he gave over half the class a D or less on video questions. Then we all find out that they were worth 100 points and he never told us. He is very unclear of what he expects. and when you ask him what to do and what he expects, he is completely unhelpful and rude.the class could actually be beneficial. DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF U WANT 2 KEEP UR GPA.

I wouldn't reccommend taking thsi teacher at all. He isn't clear on his requirements for case studies and it results in more than 3/4 of the class getting C's. Doesn't give good feedback when you asks him questions. Is extremely pig headed and interrupts students when they are trying to argue their case. VERY FRUSERATING CLASS DON'T TAKE THIS TEACH

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. All we do for our grade is four cases that he grades like crap. DO NOT TAKE HIM! I wanted to kick him in the stones everyday. His grading methods our the most inconsistant I have ever seen. He Sucks.

if you get stuck taking this class, expect not to do well. his expectations for the 5 case studies (which make up your whole grade) are never clearly explained...boring classes consist of him reading right from slides and then expecting students to answer his on the spot questions. this class is a wonderful way to waste time and lower your GPA

Wow, if you want a teacher that reads off powerpoints and becomes irate if asked questions because of his lack of ability to field them, then this is your man.

The worst teacher I've ever had. He knows nothing about management, doesn't share insight about how he will grade the important papers the class requires, and comes off with a terrible attitude when asked questions or for help. Most of the other comments posted here are sadly true. I seriously hate this guy, and I generally respect teachers at ISU

I got a D in this class and now I have to re-take the class. I wrote an email to the Dean at the College of Business telling them how bad this professor was. I think that anyone else who didn't do well should email them too, and hopefully, if enough people complain, we can get rid of this guy and if we're real lucky get our grades changed.

WORST. TEACHER. EVER. Even if he taught at the h.s. or middle school level, he would be awful there too. He has no teaching style and talks about his son the whole time. He is an embarrassment to the COB and constantly talks about his manager days at Target as if he's a hot shot. Took 220 with someone else b/c he was so terrible.. AVOID AT ALL COST

We got our first test back and 71% of the class failed and the only piece of advice he was able to give is that the students need to study more. He didn't believe his teaching was related to the poor grades in any way... DO NOT take him!

You will learn alot of things in this class, none of them pertaining to mqm220. He talks more about Carlson company, his son, and the amount of water in pop. I am sitting in the class as im typing this and he has not yet said one thing that is of benefit to my learning. If you are thinking about taking mqm220 with him. DONT he is the worst teacher

This teacher is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my three years here at ISU. He doesn't teach at all, he just reads powerpoints that he did not even write. He basically just talks at you all class. He failed almost everyone on the first exam and couldn't acknowledge that we did so bad because he didn't actually teach of any of it.

I read all previous review on this site and didn't believe it but every word is true! Stay AWAY FROM HIM!!!!! HE GETS OFF TO THE BAD COMMENTS ON THIS SITE TOO. HE WILL mention the reviews he gets and laugh at them. This man is a loser, and will leave this world known as an arrogant, judgmental prick.

This directed at you Micklich. Start teaching, stop relying on the ppts, start listening to some of these posts, stop talking down to students. Remember this is a mgmt class so lead by example, because right now everthing you teach is counterproductive for every enrolled student.

Seriously you cannot be any worse than this guy. You can say these posts don't matter, comments, but when there are over sixty people complaining the same things I think you get it. Everything written on this site about Doug is 100% true. Avoid this teacher like the plague. Waste of time. You will literally get nothing from this class, NOTHING!

This was the worst class i have ever taken. my room mate took the same class with a different teacher and said it was easy. I on the other hand had this huge **** micklich and put more time into this class than any other combined and struggled to get a C. I have never gotten a C in my life. He is the worst teacher at ISU PERIOD.

How do i start this... Doug Michlich is the worst professor i have had in my 4 years at ISU. I contemplating blowing my brains out daily. I had this guy about a year ago and just checked this site to see if he still had a job and am honestly shocked that he still does. In the class that I took, more than half of the people dropped, and some people seriously ended up standing up in class and yelling profanities at him before they left his class for the last time. Worse teacher ever

Horrible professor. Lectures were very boring and all he does is read off the powerpoint. He grades totally on opinion which can make it hard if you don't agree with him. Also if you are late turning in a case study he will not accept it.

This teacher is a joke, he talks in circles, and uses past experiences as a manager at target to teach a upperclassmen college class. No Tests, online quizzes, and open ended case studies which are open ended and sharply graded. Brutal teacher should be an easy class but somehow through the most monotone and boring voice ever he does. hes a walrus.

He is a nice guy but you literally learn NOTHING ! very understanding if you dont go to class but you really do not learn much unless you teach it to yourself. Nice guy but nowhere near a good teacher. No homewok and no final if thats what your looking for.

Don't take any classes with this guy. If you decide to, try to sit in the back. He likes to pick 1 spot to stand in and ask the same student every question that day like 2 inches from their face. Overall nightmare.

He is very boring and reads off the lecture slides. He doesn't give helpful examples. When students ask for clarity in his class, he just goes "what do you think." He isn't very approachable and is always trying to prove he is smarter than everyone else. He claimed to have invented the Koozie. I wouldn't recommend him.

JUST AWFUL. Sometimes he just sits on someone's desk and reads for 20 minutes from a sheet of paper to a class of 100 people bored out of their mind. bad at responding to emails, assignments are graded harshly and arbitrarily. no tests, just REALLY heavily weighted group projects and online quizzes that he doesn't give you enough time to complete

Seriously THE WORST professor I have had in my college career. Doesn't respond to emails and takes FOREVER to grade. No exams, only group case studies and online quizzes which are impossible because he does an awful job of explaining the material in class. Never take him unless you seriously have no other option. His class was a nightmare.

Worst professor I've ever taken. Didn't follow the "Tentative Syllabus" whatsoever. Vague on directions and will take off major points for things not even mentioned in the case rubrics. Did not learn one useful piece of information in this class. Waste of money and time

Easily worst teacher I have ever had, does not help students, does not answer questions effectively, grading is questionable. Instead of tests you have case analysis's that he does not help students with, or even give an example of what he expects, and the analysis should be "Around 50 pages" in his words. Do not take him.

NO DOUBT, the worst teacher I've had. I had a 4.0 going into my second semester, junior year. If you go into his office hours to try and reason a grade, he "has the right to lower your grade further if you can't prove a point". Now that's successful education right there. Oh, and for my 4.0 goodbye. The man wants you to fail. Highly disappointed.

By far the worst professor I've had at ISU! Does not give clear direction on case analyses. My group got a C on the first one and there was no feedback as to why?! He also threatens to lower the grade if you take it in to him and ask! He smiles when he knows he has made it troubling for students to get good grades! Teachers are supposed to help!

This class is the worst. He is never clear on what he wants, i feel bad for his wife. All he does is tell us about his family, how does he have a six year old son? He is like 70. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. Class is boring and his lectures are mundane. If he "teaches" he reads off slides. Beware because your GPA will drop.

THE (not one of the) worst professor I have ever had in my life! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! Micklich is super vague with directions and his expectations for case quizzes and case analyses. He expects you to know what he wants without ever explaining. Only reads straight off of the powerpoints, does seriously not know material, or software that we used.

Very unclear with case study guidelines. As well as, not very helpful when you go in to ask for help. Only knows about a quarter of the system. Takes random attendance for points, not for extra credit. He uses myOMlab so do sample quizzes first and if you buy online make sure you buy the one with access to the book and the quizzes.

His style of teaching is outdated. I understand a teachers desire to create an experience that makes the student take on a little extra responsibility, and Micklich creates the illusion of this kind of system. Very vague with case analyses and finds a way to make everything a little more frustrating than it needs to be. Reads off slides. Avoid.

Professor Micklich is one of the worst professors I have had. The class is an easy B. However, the stress isn't worth it. The case studies have no guidelines or rubrics. He grades based to what he think is a correct answer. Comments are rude and lazy. He takes attendance whenever he feels like it and reads off slides. HE SUCKS!!!!

A terrible teacher. No idea how he got the job. Gives out huge assignments and does not give any directions and then tears you apart in his review. Do anything to not have him as your teacher. This is coming from a 3.5 student, and I am struggling to get a B.

Micklich made many empty promises. I tried to contact him three times to have him read our case study and tell us if we were on the right track since he was unclear with what he wanted. He never showed. He eventually let us redo twice since we got an F but he never graded it. It has been a very stressful and I could not be happier to be done.

Very dry professor, all he talks about is his life and his 6 year old (A 6 year old and he's like 77). Anyways his case studies are ass, his in-class assignments are graded how he wants to grade them. Basically, whatever he is feeling that day is what you get. The only good things is no exams.

If you don't attend lectures, you won't pass. He gives out graded group in-class assignments, takes random attendance for points, and calls you out during lecture if you're on your phone or laptop. Online quizzes that are assigned are easy, because all of the answers are on google. No tests. Case studies are treated as tests, but he grades so hard.

He is terrible. DO NOT TAKE. (also you will want to skip class, but make sure one person from your group, they will tell u whether you need to show up or not) - case studies are pretty much the exams, he doesnt give a specific way on how he grades them or how we should write them - he doesnt always say when quizzes are so check online every week.

The worst professor I've taken here at Illinois State University. I followed his rough/vague rubric and worked with another group for weeks before it was due. We produced our own work, but the concepts were same. Somehow, her grade was an A, and somehow our grade was a D. The differences between our work were so marginal. INCONSISTENT GRADING.

This is the worst class I have ever taken in my life. He grades the projects that we have instead of exams extremely biased. He rambles about useless information the whole class and takes attendance.

This is seriously THE WORST professor I have ever taken in all my schooling career. No joke. I am an A/B student usually and I will be receiving a C in this class. He grades the 3 case analyses very strictly and doesnt give any detailed information on what to do on them. Class may have been good with a different teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.

BOO. Never take him. Not only does he make this class 8am, he literally gives barley any assignments. And the ones he does give out are worth hella points, so GOD forbid you are busy one night and you forget a quiz and tank a WHOLE LETTER GRADE. Only class Im getting a C/D in. B/c he can't grade on time, or give proper assignments fairly.

only good thing about him is there's no tests & the quizzes are online but he doesn't tell you when you have a quiz & he opens them from thursday - saturday. He grades the case studies based on his mood that day & he wants things done his way but does not tell you how he wants things. He also takes attendance randomly & doesnt allow laptops/phones

Perhaps the worst professor I've ever had. He once threatened to LOWER students' grades if you came to his office hours and asked for a grade explanation. His grading expectations were incredibly broad, inconsistent, and unhelpful. Lectures were dull. Way too many digressions. Also, he has a weird admiration for airlines.

Entire class consists of listening to him lecture about non-course related material only to run out of time and be thrown into the online quizzes knowing nothing other than he worked at Target. Seriously, take everyone else's word for it. Do NOT take a class with him. Case Analysis are unexplained and stressful, never enough time to complete.

I have never given a professor a bad rating nor have I wanted to... till now. I don't care if he is the only professor available (which is highly likely if you are late signing up for classes), wait till next semester and take it with ANYONE else. It will be worth the wait.

If you actually care to learn something useful about management methods, take another professor. His method of teaching is giving you three case studies for the semester which are graded subjectively. Nothing taught in this course will be helpful in your future career so if youre stuck with him just try to make it through.

He told my group that a point in our paper was incorrect even though it was discussed in the reading HE assigned to us. Absolutely terrible. do NOT take him.

Here is something for everyone: if you have always scoffed at bad Professor ratings because you thought they were kids that didnt put effort into the class, think again. I too was one of those kids. Now I am a firm beleiver that if a professor has as many ratings as this guy and is still rated this bad, stay tf away. End of story

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. He lectures on material that isn't related to the quizzes at all. I was happy to see that he had case studies instead of Tests, but when I actually saw the case studies I realized I'd rather have tests. They are 25 pages long and he gives you no rubric. He also grades them super hard. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!

Have 3 A's in other classes but staring down a C in this class. Most of class is him rambling about nonsense or himself, not telling us specifics about what he wants. Generic rubric is used to grade case studies, vast majority of the course's points. Worst professor I have taken in 2.5 years. Dull, boring, no clue what he wants from students.

you have 3 case studies in this class that is all done as a group. sounds great right? WRONG these suckers are 200 points EACH. I'm watching my 3.8 GPA slide down the drain with this man. Do you like listening to pointless music videos and stories about your professors life? This is the class for you! Otherwise, look elsewhere. Gives little to no instruction yet scoffs when students offer this as feedback. I understand that teaching in a zoom format is not easy, but reading off powerpoint is not the answer. Worst professor to date.

I didnt belive the other reviews because he was my only option for that class. If I can't drop the class at this point, my 4.0 is gone. Everyone did bad on the big project, because he didn't explain anything beforehand. Please believe the other reviews and don't take him. Wait a semester. It's worth it.

This dude is genuinely terrible. So disorganized, forgets about projects, unclear criteria, wastes the first 20 minutes of class listening to jazz music, and that's just the start of it. If you can avoid this guy, then do whatever it takes to get away from him. You can thank me later

All the other reviews are accurate. He is awful. If you do have to take him, build a good relationship with him during the beginning of the semester. Meeting with him definitely boosts your grade on the case studies. I did the last two project by myself, and met with him at least twice for each and received two A+ grades. I saved my A by this.

Listen to the other reviews. This is my first time creating a review and it's because of how bad this class was. I didn't care for the jazz music, but you can't read his feedback when he gives it out after each case study. Only one person from the group needs to buy it because you can send it over email to others.

I tried giving him a chance, but he is terrible. All he does is read from slideshows, which I could do myself, and gives us in class activities that he always forgets or just doesn't grade. Has high expectations for case studies but doesn't teach; he just reads. Sorry.

I would not recommend taking this class if you don't like to work in groups or are a non-business major. The quizzes and in-class work were not hard, but the Harvard business case analyses are impossible- and they are worth 50% of your grade. He grades too tough for a 200 level class.

This guy is one of the worst professors I have ever had. An awful teacher that does not specify a single thing that he wants on the three main group case studies, which constitute the vast majority of the course grade, doesn't give out rubrics, and expects you to figure out the cases yourself which can be extremely challenging.

If I could go back in time and stay at home and fail college instead of take this, I wouldve. I never want to show up to class because of how boring the lectures are. The quizzes are a piece of cake but the case analysis are very grade heavy. Tough grader boring ass teacher. 10/10 wouldve rather taken this class with my dog as my professor.

This guy was the most boring professor I have ever had. His lectures are equivalent to watching paint dry. This guy just sits there and reads off the screen for over an hour. Almost all of your entire grade is determined by the case study which he does little to explain. Terrible, boring class, avoid this man if you wanna learn something.

Course is mainly based on 3 group essays worth 200 points each. Grading criteria for essays are very unclear, I would highly suggest not taking this class.

His lectures are so boring that I would never go to class unless we had an in-class assignment (that you would get a zero for if you weren't there). There are no exams, but there are 3 case analyses. There are also quizzes every couple weeks. Overall very unorganized and I felt like I learned nothing from his class.

This is literally the worst Professor you could ever have

Unclear expectations, painfully boring lectures, group projects with NO ability to rate teammates, and will largely grade based on his opinion rather than objective criteria. He openly mocks papers that were written poorly and says he grades by skipping to the end to see if you got the right answer. I'm positive he didn't read any of my work fully.

My entire group seems to agree that his disdain for modern technology is painful to listen to. He forces us to come to class and basically just uses that class time to talk about any assortment of random topics. DO NOT sign up for this professor, he wastes your time.

Almost Entire Grade is off 3 Harvard Case studies that he explains close to 0. Refuses to respond to emails (prob cause it's evil technology) and graded our case off a requirement he didn't list. Take any other professor it will be 300% times easier. The few quizzes he does remember to put in the gradebook are really easy and paint dry lectures.

Talks about Mcdonald's more than the actual content of the class. Monotone voice sits at the front of the class and reads off a PowerPoint. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!

This course was super easy, but the professor was so boring. He would ramble on and on about absolutely nothing, and I honestly barely learned anything. He just copied and pasted the definitions from the textbook onto his slideshows. I think this course would have been a lot more interesting with a different professor.

The most unprofessional and unorganized professor. Needs to understand he teaches a genED course. Needs to LEARN how to accommodate to his students stressful life which many other professors at this school do. Other professors do everything they can for their students to succeed, but he does everything to make them suffer. DO NOT take his class.

After sitting through hours of lectures on the horror of artificial intelligence. I can confidently say the only thing I learned in this class is that a robot could teach the class better. A recording of the textbook read by Siri at 0.25 speed would be more interesting and helpful. He regularly says offensive and sexist remarks.

He is a kind person just not a great teacher. He makes the assignments more difficult than they need to be. He has no rubric for the way he grades and it is all over the place. He talks about random things during class and makes them longer than it needed to be. He is a good person but made this class much harder than it needed to be.

Take this class with literally any other professor-he's so out of date with everything and super disrespectful, praises himself about everyone loving him and being the best when all his students don't remotely like him. He hates technology and teaches you nothing except how horrible technology is.

This man is a horrible professor. I bought the wrong online homework submission thing and he did not believe me so I went to the library and they said I bought the one he told them to put on the website. This man is horrible. His lectures are boring, there is homework every 2 weeks (ish) and a Case Analysis at the end of the semester and that is it

I have never dealt with a worse person in my life. He had extremely inappropriate and offensive comments. I would recommend any other professor for this course so please save yourself. And I really didn't learn anything in lecture because it was so boring. Just choose a different professor and avoid him at all costs.

Not available after any classes. Emailed 7 times had a snappy response written back. Missed one class had to ask about the final 7 times and get advisor involved before he emailed me back 30 minuets after the final started. Do not take at all unless you want to need a lobotomy every day after this class.

I had been dealing with crohn's disease for about 3-4 years by the time I entered this class. I asked him to simply not call me out, which he usually did when people left the class. He told me yes. The next time I had to leave early, he did the exact thing he told me he wouldn't. He is ]not a good person.

Worst professor ever! Extremely long and boring lectures and yells at people for being on their phones. Reads off of a slideshow the whole time. no clear grading criteria. Highly inconsiderate. If you miss more than 2 classes you're very likely to fail. Quizzes are all random. (He will not notify students on canvas if there is an online quiz)

He HATES technology. His lectures are so boring and unbearable. He will completely read off slides, get mad if you take pictures of the slides, and go on 10 other side stories unrelated to class. He doesn't let you make up anything unless you talk to Dean of Students. He's so bad I want to give him a 0, but that's not possible, so I give him a 1.

Professor Micklich has been the most mentally draining professor I have had. He doesn't teach, he just reads off of slides, I could teach the class. The grading system is unfair, there is no rubric, and when asked about the grade he requests that you write on a piece of paper what you "think" you did wrong. Ignore all the good reviews of this man.

Grades things incorrectly and makes you fight to get it graded correctly.

Ended with an 83%, but i only missed a few days of first semester. Attendance is taken randomly, so i recommend going every class. The in class assignments are NOT online so if you don't attend one class, don't be surprised if your grade drops because you missed that one in class project. He is a tough grader, but tends to give some wiggle room

His in-class assignments are said not to be opinionated, trust THEY ARE. Take this with ANY other professor. His lectures are boring, he makes you fight to change your grade (and he forgets to), and lowkey makes fun of you if you aren't liked. If in class, to get an A, you have to become annoying and go up to him 100x during in-class activities.
