Make sure you go to class, he'll ask what pic he used in the powerpoint!
hes a good teacher you should take him by colin
Took him for colloquium; great professor, I hear Gen Bio is also a good w/him
Very funny and interesting, fair and generous
Very nice and enertaining
Great professor. Very entertaining and helpful!
Awesome teacher, one of the best I have ever had!
Absolutely wonderful

Great TEacher, learned so much, and he is helpful when u ask for help.

Classes go fast, they don't drag. Good professor to introduce freshmen to college science
great professor..read ur ish n do ur work n ull pass the class wit an A..not hard at all..great teacher!!!
best professor i've ever had..very interesting lectures, keeps things entertaining and enjoyable, very, very caring person, goes out of his way to help his students..he's great
Greatest teacher ever made to walk on the planet.
he really is the best professor at rutgers. the way he teaches, he should be at an ivy-league level. he cares and is a great teacher.
takes attendance every time, in a 200 person lecture!! treats you like you're in highschool again-you have to go to everyone of his lectures becasue he shows movies and puts questions about it on the exam-too full of himself & his research
Brillant teacher. Smart, funny, keeps you interested. Exams challenging, but fair game. I would definatly take any of his courses.
study the notes that he tells you to buy...that's all you need.
awesome teacher. very sweet and cute!!!! oh im gonna miss him sooo much
Very intelligent professor. Very humorous. Lectures were never boring, and pay attention to them b/c almost everything in his lectures will show up on his exam in some way.
THE MAN
He's a terrible professor. His exams are extremelly difficult. He doens't realize that more than half the class are not bio majors and therefore shouldn't have to study the whole book. He sent a failure letter to everyone who did bad on the first exam..bad experience.
GREAT TEACHER! His exams are extremely hard though. Dont think you're gonna pass by studying the night before. You must go to every class but you'll stay awake because he is so interesting and nice.
Morrison is alright, but his exams are extremely hard...he REALLY does believe that everyone is a bio major, when most of us are taking the class since it is a GENERAL requirement...and the registrar notices are so messed up...meillo is better though and has his exams from his NOTES ONLY
Just as long as you study for his exams you should do fine. Go to class, take good notes, and read the material that is posted online and you'll do fine. He is definetly one of the best professors at Rutgers and keeps the class entertained by making jokes (that are actually funny) during class.
Good professor. Knows his material, take good notes, pay attention to the videos in class, and ask questions. practice exams are good. an A professor.
His tests are hard, but not impossible. He teaches with enthusiasm and clarity, and hes hilarious. Indeed, he is THE MAN.
he is a horrible professor. he does not teach that well. the other bio teachers are better. he is somewhat humorous, and he gives you a syllabus for everything you need to cover for the test. just follow that syllabus religiously, and you will be guaranteed an A
He is straight to the point, his exams are rite out of the lectures, dont even bother buying a book for him.......The only tricky part is his exams because u have to read carefully if you do ull get an A on his exam......
one word! HARD!
Easy... but studying is a must....all arounf great person!!
Horrible teacher, misleads you thinking his test will be easy and from notes, but NO you have to really read the book to do good. All questions are tricky, unlike Maiello and Caffrey who are straightforward and from lectures. Is way corny. Thinks everyone is BIO major and has no life other than bio
No Comments
He is a good teacher, but yes his tests are tricky. His class is a little hard, but the material you learn is sure to stick with you. This is the best teacher to take for BIO or Pre-Med Majors. He's a funny guy & even though his grading is tough you can get a B or better, with a little work.
He's a terrible professor. Basically, type human body on google and that's everything you need to know for his exam. He makes you study the book, the lab book, and his lectures. You can study for weeks and still not do well. I think he thinks to much of himself too..bad experience, stay away!!!
good guy and great teacher, the class requires reading out of the book, but all the material and pages that he wants are already scripted out for you, just pay attention and read and you will do well
Very good teacher.Keep class interesting.Presents material and very clear and understandable way.Almost entire exam is based on his lecture notes with a little reading from the book, however he tells you exactly what pages you need to read.Very good teacher.
GREAT professor!! one of the easiest A's you can get. NOT horrible at all.. good luck to the people who thinks his class is hard b/c some other classes out there are actually hard!! btw, ppl shouldn't be labeling professors as hard or horrible just b/c they failed or did horrible for not studying.
MAD FUNNY, always managed to keep my interest....Exams from notes.....Only Thing is you have to make sure you read the questions carefully
No Comments
He's most certainly not an easy professor especially if you're not a bio major such as myself. I busted my butt for his exam and still got a 60, but I managed to ace caffery's and maiello's exam, so you tell me what does that tell you?
HE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR BIOLOGY. HE SHOWS INTEREST IN THE SUBJECT AND THE EXAMS ARE A PIECE OF CAKE, JUST TAKE GOOD NOTES, READ THE BOOK AND THE LAB BOOK. I GOT A 100 ON HIS EXAM LAST SEMESTER, HE IS VERY EASY.
Dr. Morrison is such a sweet man. He promptly replies to my e-mails and phone calls. He knows how to talk to students and gets right to the point across.
Difficult class with a lot of reading. Exams were all essay questions. Great guy though...really nice and helpful...really knows what he's talking about
One of the best professors at RU-Newark. Can respond very well to student's questions and concerns...simply understands students and knows how to get a their attention and teach them a great deal of Biology
The best bio of the 3, he is very funny and keeps you interested even if the subject is boring. His exams are right from his notes, go to his lectures listen take notes and get an A

Taught me Gen Bio, Honors Colloqium, and was the instructor for us Lab TAs. Fantastic man. Kind hearted and very open to help enrich the college experience.
freshman colloquium course for the honors college. wow, i learned so much in this course. dr. morrison is an amazing professor, really knows his stuff and makes you interested in what you're reading/learning
He is a wonderful professor. He makes biology very interesting and fun to learn. I enjoy being in his class.
he makes learning biology as easy as learing your a, b, c's...
After witnessing how a baby is made today, from embryo to slimy, screaming baby barreling out the mama's cooch, I knew that this professor was informative and unique, always finding new ways to capture out attention and make learning science something you want to do rather than a general requirement chore. He's lean but not mean.
He's Cool!
i got a b (barely) in the class BUT the fact that each year about 40% of the class fails his exams should tell you something. the grading system sucks; if you don't do everything PERFECTLY it is impossible to get a B+ or an A.
He was really funny and interesting. He is very helpful with the outlines and practice exams
Wow words can cant describe how great he is. He is just hilarious and warm I felt so comfortable in his class. He was just the best thing to happen to biology. And he is the fairest teacher I have had he actually curves grades on exams if unfair.
He is a great professor. Very clear and helpful with the outlines and slides online. Pretty good class overall. He is very funny and fair.
even though it's kinda hard to get an A in bio, morrison is an awesome professor and super nice.. he's very helpful, warm and even funny.. made me like biology, knows his stuff. he's great!
Exams are not that hard. You have to read the textbook sections he reccomends. You can't rely on his lecture notes.
Great teacher. He made class exciting. Moderately hard tests.
his exams are relatively easy, it's just that sometimes they seem very tricky. so pay attention to the questions! also pay attn to those lectures & go to each and every one! the material gets boring every now and then but just put up with it! doesn't count attendance but he passes a sign in sheet just to see who's going to lectures
If someone wants to know how God looks like then, Morrison is it. This guy is the nicest guy in the world. He is very helpful and understanding. His exams are fair to easy. Great Lecturer.
great prof. very nice, to the point, understanding helpful and easy. exam is exactly what he says to study-GO TO LECTURE!!! it helps soo much for final exam. he's the man!! very nice. take him!
he is the best ever!
yes hes very great! take him if u can
hes a very very nice guy. His exams are tricky because of the way he words his questions but looking at his old exams you have a chance to acquire to his question style. Pay attention to every WORD he says and you'll be ok. fairly easy. I recommend him.
morrison is such a nice guy. He's smart, he knows what he is talking about, and he difeinitly knows how to keep you awake during his lectures. Tests are worded kind of tricky but he warns you before the test that he's good at making trick questions so all you need to do is just pay good attention before answering. I recommend taking him and maiello
big thumbs up!
this teacher sucks!! The whole department is chaos. There is noone in the lab to help. It takes hours to get TA oks. The lab assistants are always too busy talking about their lives to other assistant rather than helping students
He is a sweetheart, is helpful, understanding and a father-figure.
Just finished his section of Bio, really funny, awesome teacher...only guy that will simulate coitus interuptus in class. get his notes off the site and go to class and you'll pass. awesome teacher! forget the book for his section.
He is a great teacher, he explains everything very well and you can get an A in his exam by just taking notes in class. Although he insists on reading the book you don't really have to.
Most of the people fail his tests, but if you study the notes and read a book you should be fine.He is very clear and knows what he is doing.Great sense of humor.I enjoyed his class very much.
Doc Morrison is AWESOME. He is quirky and loves evolution, and studied fruit bats :) his energy could rub off on some other professors, because it's obvious he loves his job and spreading knowledge. He impersonates mating animals in class- what's not to love? Study hard like you should for every class, and you'll get the A.
Excellent teacher! I took bio with him this course and i'm defenitely taking 102 with him next semester! He explains everything very well, after his lectures even the labs get waaaaaay easier.
Good Biologist but not a good Psychologist. Very demanding course, difficult Lab and the exams couldn't be harder. You are forced to cram, no wonder students are failing repeatedly, something he is bragging about (although he will provide you with sample tests in advance). There is no point of raising the difficulty gradient in an already difficult course. If the point is to outsmart the students, that's not so difficult. I lost my interest in BIO, the harder and least rewarding course I ever had.
He's a great professor. I didnt even buy the book, i just studied from his notes and the lab book. His test are easy if you study. The only thing is that he always takes attendance. Besides that I think he makes the material interesting. Have an A average so far. Take Him!
simply awesome
i agree to the previous comment.. simply awesome guy!
As a freshman I thought his class was hard.. but 3 semesters later I realize how easy Morrison is. Most kids will fail the exam.. but most kids don't attend every lecture and take good notes. If u read the notes and the corresponding chapters in the book then the exams will not be hard.
Dr. Morrison is a great professor. He doesn't hesitate to answer questions, and his explanations are very clear. Even if you're not a science major, I suggest you take him. It's a great class and you learn a lot. Studying is a must, but he makes it interesting.
Overrated prof. he is OK at lectures, takes attendance but you don't get any credit for it (!). He is not very effective since everybody do bad at his exams which are notoriously difficult, average grade below 70. I went to all his lectures, took notes, studied the book and I barely passed. Skip him if you can, does not worth the effort.
great professor, easy to take just pay attention in class, very willing to help, tries to make class as interesting as possible.test is pretty easy if you studied for it and its multiple choice so even if u don't study still have a good chance at passing all around good teacher
Yes, this guy is extremely overrated, he only cares about himself, and when you talk to him is like talking to a hungry businessman. Doesn't care about his students doing well, for example, a lot of students fail his exams,(his exams have the highest failing rate), and all he does is pride on making the questions even harder and tricky.
his animal behivior class is ridiculous. he makes everything hard dont take it if you dont need it. there are a lot of work to do.
Doc Morrison is so nice! He will tell you all about his field studies and is super helpful if you ever need him. study the notes for the exams- don't even buy the textbook. great professor!
The first thing Dr. Morrison needs to do over the summer break is fire Gloria Frishman. She is a total waste of money and space. No one likes her and no one attends her lectures. So whats the point in keeping her.
Go to lectures, write down everything that comes out of his mouth, and read the book (where applicable) to fill in any gaps. I think people who say they study and don't do well don't do so because they don't understand the material. It's not just about memorizing a bunch of stuff. You have to know how to apply the it.
Morrison is so funny in lecture. If ur lookin for an easy A, this may not be it. There are 3 exams, a final, a proposal and paper (or presentation) due and attendance counts. He does give u an outline of pretty much wat will be on each exam. If ur willing to work a little hard, u will be rewarded. Plus u learn a lot! i loved this class
Take a lot of notes and study a lot. His test is tricky but it isn't impossible.
Hes a good person but, he seems to take great pride in the fact that his exam class avg is a 68! I am not sure why! Hes not very helpful, he just prefers to send you to the learning center than explain things to you. Overall, just okay, not too great, not too bad.
envelope Hes a good person but, he seems to take great pride in the fact that his exam class avg is a 68! I am not sure why! Hes not very helpful, he just prefers to send you to the learning center than explain things to you. Overall, just okay, not too great, not too bad.
This prof. is really 'awesome'! After teaching the same class for 30years hasn't figure out how to teach students so they get grades other than failing on average. He must have 'issues' with himself for asking questions in the lecture exams that he never talked about come from the small letters of the Lab textbook! Not a pleasant experience
First of all, to the people that commented below me, if you are failing Bio you should drop out of college and consider flipping burgers. It is an easy class. Dr. Morrison is a fabulous professor. He keeps the class interesting, is VERY fun, and really wants to see everyone do well. Definitely take him! (PS. also a lot easier than hotaling)
great professor. he's very passionate about what he does. his enthuasism keeps you interested during class. exams are tricky, but as long as you study you are capable of doing well.
easy/fair grader, nice guy, i learned a lot of new things. class did get boring sometimes. good overall experience.
His lectures are good and keep you engaged. Go to lecture, pay attention, take notes, and get an A. Easy as that.
Great professor, but a hard test maker. Make sure that you go to all of his classes and take notes and memorize them if you want to get the A. I should have recorded his lectures. He makes the class fun and interesting...definitly take him but study your butt off
Dr. Morrison is absolutely the best biology professor hands down. He makes the material REALLY interesting and is well prepared for his lectures. I LOVED going to his class..!
Dr. Morrison is all that is great in this world. He is the sunshine of biological life. His lectures humble the gods. Seriously, if you are interested in Science/Biology, this man is both your master and your commander. He is the Highlander.
The best professor i have ever met. Very fair professor and extremely helpful. I recommend to take his classes but to take good notes and study them carefully because his exams are very tricky. But if you ever need anything he is always there to help and to answer you. TAKE HIM!!!!!
Had him for both 101 and 102. He is extremely easy, exams are right of the notes he posts and lectures. I actually like going to class, he makes it very interesting. He is a great professor, my favorite out of the three.
One of the best professors at Rutgers. He makes the class interesting and fun. The class was easy, 3 exams + 1 paper. If you fail this class then I don't know what to say. He goes out of his way to make sure that you pass.
Dr.Morrison is very helpful, he wants to make sure you understand the material. His exams are NOT SO hard, they might be a little tricky, but if you study and make connections with the questions on the exams, then you should do well.I suggest you to use a voice recorder; his exams come from the lectures(& from the book). Dr. Morrison is the man!!
For science and religion, he is very enthusiastic and open to suggestions. The material is interesting and as long as you study for the tests you will be fine.
Bio 101 was HARD lecture is divided, 3 diff teach. each 1 easier. Sci./Bio isnt your major dont take Bio 101, it comes with a mand. lab and disc. Discussion wasn't to bad. But the lab was challenging. Would not recommend. But for non sci majors it is doable Im not a sci major. I got a C+. But Alot of effort was applied to receive the passing grade
very helpful and passionation teacher. interested in what hes teaching and makes all his notes and powerpoints available online. his tests make you think but if you take good notes and goto class you should do fine.
excellent teacher..really wants his students to succeed..needs to teach more classes :)
the funniest prof. i ever had. explained very clearly and has great sense of humor
VERY very interesting professor, and veryyy interesting class. You can jus get someone to sign you in so attendance isnt imp. MEmorize all slides, and read textbook if you want, study old exams, and you should be fine, paper isnt too tough jus 5 pages. Although cramming is inevitable , try to avoid doing that.
He is a great professor, keeps the lecture interesting and relevant. Class is easy too, just read the book and his slides/outlines. Although attendance is mandatory many people don't show, but it is still good to go to class because he always mentions things that will be on the exam or gives extra credit. Good class, definitely recommended.
awesome professor.....first bio professor that teaches so well....for bio lovers u have got to take this professor for all the courses he teaches....simply fabulous....exams are straight forward if you study his notes and the exams from previous years
Wonderful professor. Learned so much! He makes lectures very interesting. His exams are tricky but if you take good notes, study the objectives and read you will be fine.
Very nice, interesting class, funny. Test is fair, a little tricky sometimes, a little easy other times. Study notes and go to class, dont need book.
He goes off topic alot, is not really clear about anything. When you try to reach out to him he dismisses you and does not pay attention to his students. He is one of those professors that goes out of his way to make things more difficult.
Dr. Morrison is a great professor! He knows his stuff, and always posts his powerpoint slides, outlines, and past Exams on his website. His exams are trickier than Dr. Maiello's, but you'll be fine if you study the PowerPoints. He's also really funny!
Extremely interesting class. Learned about planets and life after the big bang. Plant life may take some time to understand. Overall Great Professor. Respect and come to class should do fine.
My only complaint about Dr. Morrison is that he has an extremely monotone voice that makes it hard to follow his lecture, and even harder to stay awake. By the end of the semester I was skipping class because I couldn't bear to listen to him any longer.
Took Dr. Morrison for Evolution of Humans. He is sooo amazing!!! Love the way he lectures and makes the class so interesting. Also has a great sense of humor that students love. Wish I could take every class that he offers to teach
Extremely easyyyy!!! For a writing intensive, it was a very easy class. Only 1 major paper and 3 short (1 page) reports. He was really helpful and clear. He tells to exactly what to study for the exams. Just go to class and listen to his powerpoint lectures.
Biology is hard for most people. This course was really intense for me because I hate science. He is a great professor. He is fair and very responsive even with hundreds of students in his lecture. I would recommend him for a science course because he is helpful and easy to talk to. Gives out practice exams which is a plus. Overall, great guy.
He knows the subject well but goes off topic a lot! He also loves talking about his research and asks some questions on the exam about him, not related to biological concepts. Other questions are phrased ambiguously. I still managed to get an A but all the work isn't worth it. You will be better off taking someone else.
Exams are hard, not in a challenging way but in a way that gives him some kind of sadistic pleasure. Word of advice: take maeillo or someone else if possible. You'll be better off.
Dr. Morrison is so boring with his monotonous voice and he expects you to remember 100 slides per powerpoint. His exams are tricky and he usually gives extra points to everyone because he throws out questions that shouldn't be there
Exams are terrible! He gives some points for questions missed by majority of the class, by throwing those questions out, but half his questions aren't even about biological concepts!! Others are so twisted that even if you know the right answer, you don't know the right answer...
Avoid him. He's very unclear with his exam questions, and gives very tricky exam questions. You can give this class all you got and he still won't make an effort to help you. This class destroyed my GPA. Save yourself. Maiello was so much better. Get anyone but Morrison!
Dr.Morrison is a poor teacher that allows the TA's to run the course. Also, his teaching method is outdated, especially since he his the chair of the biology department. His tests are hard, complicated and designed to fail you.
My favourite professor so far
He let's the TAs run the class. So if your stuck with a horrible arrogant TA like I was, then good luck! As a professor he is okay, but if he would take control and stop giving the TAs so much authority then it would be a much better course to take
Dr. Morrison is great. He doesn't waste your time by making you memorize a whole book as science classes usually do. His lectures are clear and as long as you know them, you will easily pass his exams.
Nice, funny guy. Tests are hard, but not unmanageable. Didn't use the textbook at all.
If you love Biology it should be moderate to easy, good professor.
boring but gives you previous exams attendance isnt mandatory so you wont die from bordem everything is on slides and he puts it all up on blackboard
Hard as hell. its gets easier as the semester goes on but this class will fill up your time alot especially with the labs. Not a class to help your grades
Makes complicated concepts easy to understand by threading them into stories. Tests are from his ppt. You will have to study (lots of info- it is science). Also, feel free to talk to him if you are confused, he's very helpful. Just watch out- he switches off with another prof in the middle of the semester. Look that one up, too.
He is reasonable, fun and helps those who want to help themselves. One of the most interesting classes so far, take him if you can.
He's a really funny professor and tries to make the class as fun as possible. His lectures are long but there isn't a lot of information on the slides. His tests are sort of tricky but he uploads previous exams so we can study from them.
Great, informative class. Most of the reviews are from lower level freshmen, so obviously they will think less of morrison. But he was a great professor in this class. Very helpful and lenient. Attendance and the topic report make up 10% of your grade, so its really just 10 easy points. Fun class
He is absolutely hilarious, I love this man. He is an incredible biologist and his class was amazing. TAKE HIM. His tests are hard, STUDY.
Please, please PLEASE, attend lecture. Exams are based on lectures. Don't skip and think you can use the slides or textbook. Slides don't have enough detail, and the book is TOO detailed. Just attend lecture and you'll be fine. Sit in the front, ask questions, let him get to know you. Could help bump your grade a half letter. BB+ or CC+. Nice guy
Wonderful professor. Test are easy if you study the material. You need to pay attention to lectures to pass. Don't bother buying a textbook.
Class is an easy A if you're willing to put in the work. Exams are all essay questions but gives questions a week in advance. However, he is specific as far as writing goes. Nevertheless, he is an easy grader at times. Weekly one page papers that are presented (also VERY specific about), Research paper, and 60 min group presentation at the end.
This class was honestly not hard. The material (depending what you're interests in Biology are, can be fun or a dragging experience). I didn't enjoy the material but the class was straightforward. Study all slides. He is a really nice guy though.
He is very thorough in his lectures. His slides will not give you much information so make sure you are in class. The lecture exams will be a bit tricky because he will include stuff said inlectures on material only spoken about once. For the most part he is very easy going and funny.
He's a nice guy, I honestly was just on my laptop the whole time and then studied his slides before the midterm and got an A. Try reading the book (not textbook) since there are some easy points on the exam for that. The paper was easy (5 pages) and he sincerely wants you to have fun writing about your favorite species.
Sweet human being. Wants you to do well. MC exams. Choices could be a bit confusing. Take good notes on his slides and study. Somewhat interesting lectures.
