I really enjoyed his class. Made things very clear. Got me interested in Economics.
I have a high A in the class but I will never ask a question. He will interrupt you before you can finish asking him anything. Kind of rude but he is an excellent instructor.
I did not like him at all. It was hard for me to follow what he was saying; he rambled a lot. Some people liked him, but I thought he was very opinionated and hard to follow. He doesn't use the textbook, so that was hard for me also
Romrell is an awful teacher. He words stuff weird and you have to decode his sentences before you write anything down.Har to understand, and he really hates students asking questions. terrible. not recommended.
All he talks about is farming junk, which I don't care about. I don't feel like I have learned anything out of the class.
I took ECN 1500 during a four week summer session. I really enjoyed his class and I thought he did a good job at teaching the subject. His class got me interested in economics and made me more aware of everything that happens in our country. I would recommend him. Just pay attention in class and read the chapters and you will get an A no problem.
Awesome, he is interesting to listen to and helps you see why economics is interesting and can be applied to the world.
I was dreading this class because I hate working with money but I absolutely loved it. This is probably the class that has most influenced my thinking on an every day basis. Doug was great. Friendly and interesting. I had a blast.
Good overall professor. I'm taking another Romrell class next semester.
teacher makes it easier to pass an extremely difficult class simply with the grading scale however he struggles to clarify and a lot of the time tests do not cover the same information as in class and are worth most of your grade very interesting information presented just not in a way that is understandable
I'm not very impressed with Romrell. He talks about farming and over uses the word ?simply? way too much. I think he enjoys confusing students and watching them struggle.
Great professor. Really helped me to see things in a new way. Very interesting class, and I thought I was going to hate it.
Professor Romrell is a great online teacher. His quizzes are very similar to his tests. He's a fair grader and quick to respond to emails. I loved the discussion articles/clips he had us watch, very informative. Great professor. I will take classes from him again.
He is a little unorganized and isn't crystal clear 100% of the time, but I have never learned as much in an economics class as I did in his. He has a non-condescending, simple teaching style which worked really well for me. He is also always willing to answer questions. I would recommend him.
I attended a couple of his classes and he is a great teacher. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with what he is saying but overall, I learned a lot. The classes are fairly easy, he has clear expectations.
If you like straight lecture with hardly a breath in between, this is your class! Not a fan, if you can take the same class from a different professor, I would do that.
(I also took ECN 1500 from Romrell) After taking these two classes, I have decided to major in Economics! Study hard on your own, do the discussions, and ask questions to succeed with Doug. He is funny and VERY smart. Just try hard and he will help you out. Plus, the tests are curved! Great teacher!
Very easy class. Read the textbook and take part in the discussions and you'll get an A. Online class with open book quizzes and closed book tests. Doug is helpful and takes part in the student discussions. I appreciated him adding current event discussions along with the textbook reading. His free-market logic is impressive.
At first I found him a little too demanding, and pushy. That assumption changed fairly fast. I love how he lectures the class from his thoughts and does not go out of the book word for word. He knows his stuff and actually got me to reevaluate some of my own misguided and maybe ignorant opinions. I would most definitely take him again!!
This professor takes some getting used to, but is actually a pretty cool guy. The tests are a little hard but he has a good curve system. The only thing else I had to do was comment on current event articles. Pretty easy. Makes economics interesting and didn't make us do the math part of economics, which was great!
Took the class online. Totally textbook based, no supplemental materials. The first test was impossible. I had the second highest score in the class with a 67% on my first exam. Was short with me on asking for further explanation. Take from someone else.
I knew nothing about Economics before I took this class, and I think a little background knowledge would've helped me. He was hard to understand and explained things in a way that the beginning economy student would NEVER understand. I had to study excessively at home to even earn the grade I got... He does curve the tests which helped tremendously
He is a great professor, very clear and helpful. Im glad i had to start learning Econ with him. He helped me love Economics.
Doug outlines his expectations for the course clearly. He won't hold your hand and you should expect to work, just like any other class. He cares about his students success, but you obviously need to be making an effort. Good professor, knows his stuff, quizzes and exams aren't too bad. Attend class
This course was an easy A. Just be sure to get the extra points on the discussions.
Grades are divided up into exams (25 Qs), quizzes (open book), and discussions on current events which are easy and bonus pts can be earned. He has a weird curve system that bumps you up a few points. Exams are very similar to the quizzes. Tip: look up quiz questions online- they will lead you to exam Qs (they are from teacher's edition of book).
Absolutely AWFUL professor. Zero communication with minimalistic effort to aid students. My advice would be to steer clear of any course taught by him.
If you study the quiz, you'll know all the answers for the exam.
Mr. Romrell was a great professor. Reading the book is MANDATORY to do well on proctored exams. All quiz questions are online, so those are an easy A, but also print those other quizzes online, they are the same questions as the exams. Extra points on discussions are offered and easy to obtain, just write one extra discussion point. Great class
I took the online class and really liked the format. 4 units, 5 discussions per unit, 1 quiz per unit, 1 exam per unit. You can work as far ahead as you want or follow the 4ish week period for each unit. Fair grader and I enjoyed his relevant and current discussion topics. This class will OPEN YOUR EYES to how troubled our government is.
Had an extremely difficult time following during lectures; however, when I read notes provided by professor AFTER lecture, it made more sense to me. His repetitious nature made it extremely challenging. Study materials intensely to even pass the class. Tough but could have been tougher if math would have been involved as well.
If you go to class and pay attention it's hard not to pass this class! 99% of his exam questions come from his power points. His discussions are great because you actually get to apply what you are learning! I wouldwill take all my econ classes from him.
I actually understand microeconomics! He is great at explaining difficult concepts in a way that actually makes sense. Great teacher. Makes you work for the A, but he is very fair when it comes to grading. Just sit near the front and participate and you will be golden. Only complaint is the required book we never used!
The text for this class is completely confusing, using TONS of formulas and instead of using words for economic principles, it used the variables of the formulas. Very difficult to follow unless you worship economics in your spare time. Very little participation from the professor. Self Study!
Romrell is a really great instructor. He is very clear about what he wants, and if you pay attention it is hard to do poorly. I would take another class from him.
No modules, no help. Just reading by yourself and taking quizzed. Discussions are pointless.
He does a decent job explaining concepts and is friendly enough. His tests are ridiculous though. I've had a good handle on the concepts for the most part , but his test questions are phrased awfully and are meant. Almost every question can be considered a trick question. This is coming from someone who was at every lecture and did all the reading.
You have to pay attention and study for tests but its not hard to get 80% or above on tests and he gives barely any homework.
Romrell's class is super easy. There's 4 units and each unit is comprised of 5 discussion posts, a quiz, and a test. You can find answers for the quizzes online from previous students. He pulls test questions from the quizzes and from an online test bank, so study that and you'll be fine. He also curves the class so 20% of the class gets an A.
Great teacher, challenged my ideas or reality and I will forever be grateful.
Professor Romrell is a super cool guy who makes economics interesting. He explains things pretty well and everything in his class is logical. If you show up to class and pay attention and read the book then you'll be good. About every two weeks you'll have a new set of discussions to complete and thats about it. Stay on top of your studying!
He's extremely confusing and very sly. All of his tests are nothing but trick questions. At first I thought maybe it was because I hadn't studied long enough, but after long study sessions and going to every SI, I finally realized that his only goal is to try and trip you up. His Econ 1500 class was extremely tough.
Romrell has been one of my favorite teachers and is the reason I changed economics to be my major. His tests can be pretty tricky occasionally but he drops one. Also, he did away with quizzes it seems and doesn't really require much homework besides some discussions on canvas.
If you do the work you will get an A. If you don't you will probably get a B or C. He is very upfront and he keeps the class interesting. He is relatively entertaining. Very little homework and though he advises you to read from the textbook you can get by fairly well without reading if you pay attention and study your notes.
He's really into what he teaches, and if you ask, he will clarify anything he says, if he gets ahead of himself.
Doug is fabulous. He is funny and makes class interesting. Incorporates a lot of real world things into class. He lets you drop one of the first three tests and then there is just the final after that. He mostly tests on lecture material. But some on the textbook too. Attendance is really important. But the class is fun, so thats not too hard.
He's really funny so class isn't bad even though it's a huge lecture. Going to class helps but skipping isn't really detrimental. Getting a good grade is easy because the assignments are easy completion points and he drops your lowest test score.
I wouldn't take his class again he is super confusing and has a weird grading system. Tests, excluding the first one are very tough. you can skip class but you don't want to.
Pay attention during lectures and read the chapters. 90% of test questions come from lecture notes. He also gives questions and answers during the lectures, so make sure you are there and write them down. When he says "Remember this," DO IT. My friends agreed this class should be called "1500 Reasons to Hate the U.S. Government." Haha. Loved it!
He is a great teacher if you you like economics. his lectures are really good and always on topic. However the test are harder and the test make up most of your grade. If you are willing to up in a bit of time to study, he is a great teacher.
I really enjoyed Romwell. He was hilarious and fun to listen to, and he also made economics pretty easy to understand. He sometimes seemed like he had ADHD, but that made lectures pretty hilarious. Honestly, I loved going to lectures. There weren't very many assignments in his class. Test and quizzes were very straightforward-no surprises.
Do not take this class from Romrell online. There are no lectures, modules, or supplemental learning material. It is all textbook baised and you have to teach yourself. The discussions are no help for the quizzes and tests. When you take a college class, you expect to have a professor that teaches you. This is not the case for this class.
Just study for the tests and go to lecture and you will get an A minimum effort. You will still learn a lot he's a great professor.
Only took this class because it was required. If you're aren't an economics major; better read, read and re-read your chapters. It is the hardest and most confusing class I have ever taken. If there is another instructor, might want to look into that. Tests are extremely hard, timed, open book and open note. Better know your material!
My experience with Romrell's summer online ECON 3010 and 4020 courses was mediocre. There was very little interaction and tests and quizzes were designed, not to help you master the course material, but confuse and keep the average grade low. He also is a poor communicator, slow to respond to emails and very terse in the manner that he addresses.
A lot of students don't like him and complain, but I thought he was a decent teacher. He makes jokes in the lectures and states what you should know for the test, even if the questions are a little weird. He says "Ah gee, I think you ought to know ____" and its on the test. Write down anything like that and study your notes and you'll do well.
He is an amazing professor. If you pay attention in class and take good notes you will pass. There were 4 exams and a lot of easy online discussions on random economic topics. One of the first three exams will get dropped which gives you a little breathing room. I would highly recommend Professor Romrell.
If you take his courses (I have taken two from him) online you will receive ZERO lectures or guidance. You just read the text book and take the multiple choice tests, which are super hard because most answer options include "all of the above" and "none of the above". It was a huge waste of time and money, but it's a mandatory course for Econ majors
Pretty unforgiving class. 70% of the grade is based on exams that are only 25 questions long. Get a few wrong on the exam and you're looking at a major hit on your grade. Not impossible, but pretty tough.
Took this class online and would not recommend it. The only assignments you have for the class are discussion which count for little points. Everything else is one quiz per unit and then a test. The tests are SUPER HARD and he expects you to remember everything from the chapters. If you can take this through a lecture do it and avoid this.
Overall the class wasn't too bad. You definitely have to study hard, but even then there's no way to be prepared for his tests. All of his tests are focused on 1 or 2 things from the notes. I wish they would be more rounded and focus on all the material instead of beating one or 2 topics. If you don't know the topics you wont pass the tests.
My issue with this class was that he changed the style of our tests 1/2 way through the semester from open book/note to closed. After that, his tests became less conceptual and more quizzing us on our memorization of facts we could easily google. He does drop one of the first three tests and none of the tests are particularly difficult.
He is very lecture heavy. He gets off topic all the time while he is teaching. Your grade will come from your test scores. The tests aren't hard if you attend class and listen during his lectures.
Doug was interesting. A lot of my time in that class felt pointless either because of the repetition, or because of him getting sidetracked and talking about something irrelevant. The tests were mainly focused around the group presentations we did, but the questions felt like they had nothing to do with economics.
I'm a science major and I really enjoyed his class. He will pull about one question from the book each exam and the rest are from his lecture. His lectures aren't recorded so you need to go to class. He is a cool guy, I recommend him.
Pay attention to the lectures. You'll do group projects, in which you'll basically need to memorize everything the groups teach, because he asks the weirdest questions. (i.e. Which country produces the world's largest supply of bacon?) He's an entertaining professor. Say "Mutually Beneficial Voluntary Exchange" and you're sure to pass.
Romrell goes on a rant for every lecture where he talks in circles for 75 minutes. I think he would do a lot better to organize his thoughts and his lecture into clear ideas. He does not exactly go out of his way to help students, but is a nice enough guy. Our test averages so far: Test 1: 73%, Test 2: 67%, Test 3 63%. He drops one test. No curve.
Rambles for an hour and a half, sometimes giving you test answers. Tests are very difficult, even if you study. Grades are based on 4 tests (1 dropped) and online discussions. No final which is nice and discussions are easy points, but if you aren't a good tester your grade will suffer. Knows what he's talking about but teaches in a confusing way
Great teacher. Having transferred from another university I found this professor to be great when compared to the ones I had taken before. Course has some work involved, but it's not too hard if you just do what is recommended. Read the chapter and unit notes. That's it. I will take this teacher again in the future.
I finished this course with an A but I really couldn't tell you anything about international economics. The content wasn't engaging. More than anything it just seemed like a forum to post libertarian articles. If you're looking for something easy, sure, take this class, but you won't get much out of it
I enjoyed Doug. His lectures were funny, he does go off topic a lot but he still covers what is necessary. All of the tests are taken at home on Canvas and they are open note and book which his nice! He uploads all lecture notes to Canvas as well, so you don't necessarily always have to be to class. He has 5 discussions a unit, easy 25 points!
Tough quizzes but there are more extra credits.
Doug is very knowledgeable. He honestly knows what he teaches. He does go off topic sometimes, and it is hard to keep up with him. But he is funny and entertaining. Make sure you study for the exams, or else you won't pass. Easy discussion points though.
The class revolves around the lectures. Going to class helps otherwise you need to read the textbook. Only a few tests but those make up most of your grade. He is pretty good about explaining things in an easy way to understand, and he relates most of the material back to current events.
90% and above is an A. Professor drops your lowest test score (can't be the final) and the quizzes are a joke. Quizzes aren't timed, can be taken wherever, and the quiz answers can be found online. Tests aren't the bad, they do require studying but a lot of the test questions are just repeats from the quiz. Do all the assignments for easy points.
He is an absolutely terrible professor. His supplemental notes do nothing to prepare you for the tests and the exams are pieced together questions that do not make much sense. The questions are not well presented and he seems to take pride in the failure of his students
Doug is a great teacher, he reviews the basics quite often so you really understand them. Sometimes he reviews the same topics a little too often but if you pay attention it's hard not to get a good grade in his class. His tests are open book and he drops the lowest test. This is my second class from Doug and I really enjoy his teaching.
Online sections, you get a reading assignment (which can be quite long) and maybe some supplemental notes from him. He doesn't record lectures, so your grade is mostly based on the reading. The quizzes are open book, the tests are close-booked and both had some difficult questions but were manageable. Doesn't give out A- so a 90% or above is an A.
This class is beyond easy. His tests are all open-book/open-internet. I rarely attended the lecture and never even bought the book. It would be hard to not get an A.
This is the only class I didn't pass my entire undergrad. His teaching method was poor and he didn't explain nearly enough to be proficient on the exam material. Take Bowles instead.
Great class! The quizzes and tests are easy if you study the textbook and read the supplemental notes. Fair grading too.
He is awesome! Really simple tests. They are open notes and taken outside of class. He posts the notes that he bases lectures off of. All tests are based off lectures. Really nice guy. His class is pretty simple but you should go to class to make sure you understand the concepts.
He has a great personality and is funny, but sometimes it was hard to listen to him as it drug on. Your grade is mostly based on tests, which he likes to add trick questions. He says if you truly understand the topic, you should answer it right which is mostly true. Open note and book tests. And he likes to give out hints for the tests on Fridays.
I've taken 2 online classes from Romrell and I was very disappointed by the lack of effort from him. The Canvas courses were bare, he provided very little feedback even when directly asked, and all the discussions very right-wing. That being said, he is the only online professor, and it's easy enough - just read the textbook and do the assignments.
The material itself is not too difficult, just poorly taught. He would go on a lot of tangents that had nothing to do with the material. He has notes that he "teaches with," but don't appear on testThe first test average for the class was a 50 and accordingly we asked what to do better, he simply said you know how to do better and left it at that.
His class was not my cup of tea. He is obviously trying to push a conservative agenda through discussion materials. For a public university, not okay. Also, the way he asks questions on the tests leaves a lot to interpretation. Overall, his lectures are where your grade is. However, don't expect he will clearly go over the ideas. Go elsewhere.
He's your average economics professor. His lectures are extremely dry and easy to fall asleep to. I ended with an 89.9 and he said it would be "unethical" to raise it to a 90, so yeah, he's that kinda prof. Textbook was barely used. He forgot to record the lecture half the time, so you weren't able to watch it later if you missed it. Classic boomer
This teacher gave us five exams and said four were your grade for the class. The average of the class exams ranged from low 60's to low 70's out of hundreds of students. We were only given for each teach a chance for 25 points through 5 assignments. The only extra credit was during a test, took test time, and wasn't on the test grade. Don't take.
Rude and does not care for students you ask questions about former classes and he says you should know that already, or you ask for other examples he wont help you he says you should understand it already.
Very poor teaching method. Barely passed the class, his lectures were very unclear with so many unrelated tangents. All of his examples were about farming, which most of us don't understand. The tests were basically the only thing on your grade. The average for each test was about 65%-70%. Wasn't great at answering questions. Hardly used textbook.
His tests are open notes, BUT the questions on it are "what are his/the lectures definition of...." meaning all four options are correct, but only one is the lectures definition and thus the correct answer. So control find is the best way to take his tests. He actually sent a canvas message roasting people in my class who got below 85% so not a fan
I found lectures were very boring and often during class he would say one thing that contradicts his own written notes. Tests were abnormally specific and questioned memorization of lectures more than course material. Discussion posts oftentimes did not relate directly to course material but were easy to complete.
Do not take a class from Doug! He is super unhelpful when struggling in class. Won't answer questions during class. He has quizzes before class about stuff we haven't learned yet. He constantly contradicts his own notes in class. His tests are weirdly specific requiring specific memorization of lectures. Overall this class was a nightmare.
His lectures were super boring and he taught off of a word document that was unfinished. The tests are open note open book but they are extremely specific questions control F won't even help you. He also often asks questions about the lectures that were hard to find. He used farming as examples that were unhelpful to make things clear.
ehhhhh...i thought it was kind of bizarre how we were given a quiz on material we hadnt even discussed, with an unecessary time limit. All he did was read off a word document. it is nice that he supplies the notes, and the tests are open book/open note.
He is a great professor and was fun to have. This was not a hard class. There are 5 question quizzes every class over the reading, the exams are open note, and you have to read the textbook but it's never more than 20 pages. He was enjoyable to have and I would recommend taking from him if you care about getting an A.
Doug Romrell is a funny dude but not the best professor in my eyes. His class is very lecture-heavy, and most of the time I had no idea what he was talking about. He had no study guides for the tests which made them very challenging for me. Very little homework however which was very nice.
Professor Romrell is a great teacher and has the class content very well put together. The class format is very straightforward and easy to follow. If you do the textbook readings and listen during lecture, this class is an easy A.
This online class is very easy. It consists of 3 units and each unit has a quiz, paper, and discussions. Everything is graded easily, pretty much if you follow the guidelines you get a 100%. Not very time-consuming overall. The downside is there is no interaction with the professor as it is just reading the chapters.
Professor Romrell is a very nice person, but if you don't understand Econ principles, good luck. HIs lectures often wander and become mundane. I had trouble keeping myself engaged. You only get graded on 4 tests, and 20 discussion posts. No TA's even though there were 200 students. Would not recommend.
Amazing guy, but his teaching style is way different than most. Uses the board and talks the whole time. It can be difficult to keep up. Very few assignments, your grade is 95% based on 4 tests throughout the semester. He drops 1 of them. You need to go to class to understand. Tests are open note and book. 90% or better is an A in the class.
By far the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are boring & difficult to follow. 75% of your final grade is based off tests that hardly match what he goes over in class. The test are open book open note however even after using the literal notes he goes over in class, it's still difficult to do good. Jacob Clifford (yt) was my life saver.
If you enjoy the feeling of being lost, frustrated, and feeling like there's more you should be learning, take this class! This professor is very lecture heavy and his lectures are more of a ramble. I do not understand what he is talking about in class. He also doesn't give you assignments to help understand or practice the material.
His lectures are very hard to follow. He goes off on tangent after tangent and he manages to make an already dry subject even drier. Your grade is 90% based on tests that he probably makes in about 5 minutes that are oddly specific. Going to class does not help with anything, and you cannot rely on the textbook because he makes the tests himself.
Take his econ 3400 online section. Assign three papers for the whole year, which is most of your grade. Gives an automatic 100% as long as you hit the word count. Easiest class I have had at college.
His whole class he just reads from his Google docs notes and rambles.
Really bad, every time I asked questions he would just roast me. More worried about being right than teaching.
I have never hated a class as much as I hate this one. Ruined my 4.0, and I studied so freaking hard. Doesn't give you powerpoints or notes or practice problems. I would not recommend, find a different teacher.
He explains things in a million different ways and is hard to follow. The grade you get in the class is fully based off of how you do on the exams. There is not really any way to get your grade up if you didn't do well on the exams.
Doug is a nice person, but his teaching style isn't that great. His class is lecture heavy and your grade is based on how well you do on exams. He doesn't give any practice problems or much guidance for what will be tested. He asked the top 10% in his class to write him good reviews because of the bad ratings... so take that as you will.
I would highly recommend Doug for ECON 3400, I had a great experience with this class and would definitely take again.
Nice guy, but bad professor. Asked the top 10% to give him a good rating, but only went to class about 3x because he was so confusing.
Doug is a good professor, the class was great (he told me to say this).
There is so much I want to say but rate my professor only give you 350 characters. So I'll just say this, no amount of listening and asking questions in class will ever make you understand what Doug is talking about. You will only teach yourself.
Horrible professor. The whole class is graded off of four tests, and his lectures are worthless. He says there will be no extra credit in the syllabus, but he offers it for completing the course survey. He doesn't resend to emails and is very unprofessional. I highly recement taking this class from another professor if you can.
His online classes are horrible, only thing he provides is the textbook and expects you to learn everything from it.
A well-designed online class, reviews for his other courses are poor online. However, I found this one extremely easy, 3 well-defined units with an open note test, paper, and discussions due every month or so. Plenty of time to get ahead. Easy A if you study at all.
Brutal class. I felt lost in every lecture and then after learning the material through youtube the tests were still near impossible. Lectures are hard to follow and test questions included the smallest personal details about Doug and small details from videos shown in class. All I'll say is good luck. Least favorite professor I've ever had.
Terrible, lectures are so confusing and make no sense. Just read the textbook
Only thing for grade is 4 tests, and a few discussion questions. Impossible to pay attention to his boring and uninteresting lectures with no variation whatsoever. Every time just him talking making no sense. Basically a self taught class. If you are good at that and understand econ well you will be fine. But tests don't make a lot of sense either.
This class is a joke. Doug is a joke. His assignments are a joke. His tests are a joke. Everything is a joke, except Doug's jokes which are way too unfunny to be called jokes. I would give constructive criticism here but Doug looking up his reviews would require more effort than he put into teaching all semester. Complete waste of time and tuition.
The lectures are confusing and hard to follow. Textbook is essential, but tests are still a challenge. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for supplementing the material. Overall, a rough class, but manageable if you put in the work.
Professor Romrell really isn't that bad. Some people are exaggerating how rough he is. Just make sure to do the assigned readings and show up to class and the exams will be a breeze. I do wish he covered more of the textbook material in class but he adjusts the exams to be just on information that he taught or assigned so they never feel unfair.
Does not care about his students outside of class at all. Unprofessional.
Doug means well, but don't take this class. No amount of listening will make the lectures understandable. Your grade is determined almost entirely by 5 very difficult take-home exams that open for a single 1 hour period. If you miss it, he tells you to pound sand. Good luck getting above a C without some help from peers.
This class was a Joke. No lectures, no recordings, no nothing. Doug just slapped some "economics" slop together and called it "higher education." Out of 700 total points, 100 are discussion posts and a syllabus quiz. 300 are the three "exams." 300 are three papers. You literally cannot call this man a professor since he DOESNT TEACH ANYTHING.
You learn almost nothing from the lectures, the only reason to go, is to catch a phrase he might use and put on the test. This is graded by 5 exams and a couple discussion posts. The tests are open book, but you learn nothing
Dougteaches at a fast pace, which is challenging. He provides notes on Canvas and follows the textbook. Homework is 4 discussions per module, so tests are everything. Theyre flexible, taken during class times, but you can take it wherever you want and are open-note and open-internet. You have to be self motivated and manage your study time well.
Doug barely puts effort into teaching this class, there were chapters he refused to lecture on, but were still on the test. Youre only graded on 5 tests and some discussion posts, I learned this class by myself. Avoid at all costsl.
Lectures are basically useless. Doug is unapproachable and often unprofessional. The videos and other resources provided in the textbook are pretty helpful on the tests, but that's what's gonna be teaching you for a semester, not Doug. You can pass this class, but you won't actually learn much without a significant amount of additional effort.
You will have to teach yourself this course if you actually wanna learn anything, and on top of that he does not care about you. He changed how the final test would be taken just days before the test and when I reached out to him to ask what to do because I could no longer take it, he told me he basically didn't care and gave me no help. Dont take
Finals week is from the 21-25 on the 18th he sent a message out saying he's changing the final to be in the testing center with no notes. After the syllabus clearly states you can take them online with a page of notes. This is hypocritical considering he's huge on not letting you take the test before or after the test day via the syllabus rules.
He doesn't care about students or teaching I don't think but the class is an easy A
I would genuinely recommend you drop your Econ major before taking classes from Doug. He doesn't even teach, you just read the textbook and write essays (no AI though apparently...). His classes are completely useless and he doesn't even read the essays you submit. I learned no more from this class than what I already knew from lower level courses.
If you want to take this class, just don't or take it with someone else. Doug is an awful professor; his lectures barely make sense. Your grade is based off the tests, which there are 5 total. There's no real homework, so you have to teach yourself everything the textbook explains things though.
