Amazing Teacher. Great guy. Very clear with what he is teaching and seems to know the subject. Fair grading and a moderate amount of work.
This guy is great there is not too much work involved, he knows his stuff and doesn't use the book very much. Basically it was fun and easy class.
I had him his first semester teaching. He was crappy, but seemed to know his stuff and showed a lot a potential as a teacher. It seems he's gotten better.
Made class fun, by getting everyone involved. I like the idea of the trash/cementary project. Good teacher!

You watch a video and then take some notes every class. He grades attendance randomly and he quizzes on out of class readings sometimes. The exams weren't hard, but sometimes the stuff wasn't in the notes. Just take the notes, go to class, and read a little out of the book and you will get an A.
This professor is very knowledgeable about the issues he teaches. I wish he was a full-time professor, I'd take him for all of my classes. When I had question regarding the material taught in class he helped me-not demeaning at all. I wish more professors were like him. wink wink
Good guy, easy class if you put a small amount of work in. When he reviews for the test the day before he basically gives you all of the questions on the test. I would recommend him.
It doesn't get much easier than this.......
I hated this class...soooooooooo boring!
An easy A, but if you want to actually learn the material, he's not the guy for you. His syllabus was a fantastical fever dream with no relevance to actual classes. We watched many videos, ncluding "Indiana Jones". Also, I have a sneaking suspicion he might be an Intelligent Design advocate; he has problems with evolution which he never explained.
He's compassionate about what he does and is a really nice guy. Very helpful with tests!
He's absent a lot. The class is disorganized and it's difficult to know what is going on all of the time, but overall, anyone can pass.
really laid back guy, pretty much my favorite teacher so far.
he goes hard
Be prepared to watch a lot of old technicolor movies about the wonderful world of anthropology. He had some sort of foot injury, so he never stood during class, making him very hard to understand at times. The classroom was rather low-tech, the sound accompanying the numerous videos was diffucult to hear. This guy's a cakewalk, regardless.
how is this guy a professor? If you have the answer I have a $100 for you. Seriously no organization, no teaching, and horrible old videos. Be ready for the four hour alaska video
There is no way you should not atleast get a B in the class. He gives you atleast 6 answers on the test then makes you do some BS questions later to add 10-15 points to the test. Needless to say I have a 102.5% in the class. Easiest class ever.
Just go to class, do the (easy) assignments, and you will get an A.
This class is easy in that half the time you just watch videos, but the tests are slightly hard.
Attendance rarely taken, assignments are a joke its all pass fail, tons of videos, class canceled often, doesnt answer email questions, Tests are somewhat hard 84 on first n 98 on second after reading every chapter in the book, n im a 4.0 student... n for the final no one has a clue we stopped learning after the 6th week
Biggest joke of a class ever. You don't have to attend class, don't even need a text book, and paying attention is useless because he never takes questions from movies, which is basically all you do in there. If you take some notes, attend the review, and listen to the 7 "freebies" he gives you for each test, you will do fine.
Worst professor ever. Not organized at all. Notes are done on word, which he constantly edits throughout class, making it difficult to understand which notes are necessary. All you do is watch movies all year long. Don't even go those days bc they won't show up on exams. You're in class for MAYBE 30 minutes. He usually starts late and ends early.
sooo easy, nice guy
Good teacher! He was always really nice and gave out a lot of answers for the tests. He takes attendance at random times and especially if there's a movie playing he will after it's over, so don't leave during it! Lots of movies too. Easy A for the most part!
Easy-going guy with a sense of humor and a general interest in the field, helpful on tests and doesn't try to ask trick questions.
Gives out extra points for not reason, one of the easiest classes i ever took.
Really nice guy. He gives a study guide that practically is the test. Easy class; all we do is watch videos and do simple assignments.
VERY boring class but extremely easy. Attendance is not mandatory, assignments are mostly just "bonus points for exams." He basically gives you test answers in a review session. Class cancelled often (I took spring semester too). Take for an easy A if this class is a GEC for you!
He may be an easy teacher but his classes are boring, he talks in monotone. He never explains his grading. He will say that he will add points to the test but then he never actually puts up the grades.
Extremely easy class, just jot down the notes he gives you and you'll get an A. Rather boring as far as lecture goes; Sahady tends to speak in a monotone and doesn't seem to excited about the content he's presenting. Very few assignments given. Tests are relatively easy.
Extremely easy class! Attendance was not taken once. Tests were a little hard but you do random assignments throughout the class which adds bonus to the tests. Take this class for an easy A! Also, at the end you can do a powerpoint for 4% extra credit added to your final grade!
Class was fairly easy, tests were challenging. Gave a lot of extra credit and was understanding if assignments weren't turned in on time. I did not like the fact that you could not email him. He was an ok teacher...
enjoyed his class although he can be mono-toned. go to class, do assignments and you should be able to get an A
Extremely easy class. You don't need a book. The whole class is lecture and tests are based almost exclusively on notes. 80%+ of assignments count as extra credit and they are extremely easy to complete. Even if you get Bs or Cs on the 4 tests, its still possible to get an A in the class. Teacher goes off on tangents, but its not too unbearable.
Very easy. Labs are required (Soca250) but are easy and run by TAs. He is very leanient with grading labs as long as you go to them and actually do SOMETHING (it doesnt have to be extraneous). Tests are pretty easy and lots of extra credit is offered, so its easy to get an A even if you get Bs or Cs on the tests. Teacher is nice but talkative.
Easy class, lots of extra credit. He is VERY boring and monotone. Dont bother buying the book, it's a waste of money. Tests can be hard but you can get extra credit on them.
Only went to 4 classes the entire semester, got my notes from someone else. You don't need the book. Most of the questions on the tests are from the notes or common sense. Nearly all of the homework counts as extra credit on the tests and is graded pass/fail.
I HATED HIM! The class is DULL, he doesn't remember what he teaches. I KEPT A BETTER RECORD OF MY GRADES THAN HE DID. He cancels class every chance he get and doesn't tell us! BUT even though the class is a joke-his exams are NOT. Don't underestimate taking notes and studying! I often left class wanting to cause serious injury to him and others. ew
That was the most extra credit I've ever received in a class. I didn't get A's on my tests but easily got through with an A for the class. Just do the assignments and take notes. Don't worry about the book.
Not a good teacher. The tests are pretty complicated because you barely get notes you just watch boring movies all the time. However he does give out a lot of extra credit which helps your grade.
OK class. Easy A. Dont let that fool you, do study or atleast look over notes. Exams do require some knowledge. Do all assignments for EC. attendance not mandatory, but recommended bc of frequent but EXTREMELY EASY assignments. Lots of extra credit. Easy A. kind of a drag, but go.
Definitely not fair to people who are actually majoring or are interested in anthropology. You can tell he doesn't take the material very seriously because he seizes every opportunity to cancel class, and is so monotone and not at all dynamic. I'm an anthropology major and I had him for my into class... he seriously MAKES anthropology boring!
Overall a pretty good guy. Somewhat monotoned, but lays out the course information as simply as possible and tells you exactly what is on every exam. Also gives out a lot of extra credit, as most of his assignments are. Overall an easy class, missed a few but went most of the time and still got an A
Great guy, very easy class, but u must GO TO CLASS, he doesnt push his opinions on students and lets them draw their own conclusions, i enjoyed his class very much, people who say he made anthro boring are probably freshmen who expect profs to hold their hand. * tests were tough because i didnt buy the 115$ text, but still managed Bs on all of them
Easy A if you go to class because he shows a lot of videos that you need to watch to do assignments. Tests aren't hard but you actually need to study for them. My class was an hour 15 minutes but he always thought it was 50 mins which was good.
A very easy class. Attendance is not mandatory and the majority of the test questions are just common sense. He also offers a lot of extra credit if you go to class.
His way of speaking makes me sleep, but the course is very interesting and extremely easy. He can be more excited about what he teaches. Dont go that class if you are not in a good mood =)
Extremely easy class if you attend class. Attendance is not mandatory, but there is a lot of in class work and videos. He also basically tells you what the exams consist of during class. easy A
very easy he gives you like 15 points extra each exam and gives you the actural final exam to study
One of the most helpful professors I've had thus far. He's not that hard. Helps you a lot when exam time comes. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but very helpful come test time! I never bought the book, never needed to use it. He gives a majority of the info in class and provides study guides! His class isn't difficult but must provide effort.
Take this and you're likely to pass, but not know how or why. No book required. His lectures aren't very helpful (no powerpoints) for studying. Before each test, he gives you all the questions that will be on the exam, as well as some of the answers, if he's in a good mood. He gives extra credit points randomly and for you turning in assignments.
Very straight forward. Enthusiastic, just not loud about it. He loves what he teaches and makes it interesting to follow. Gives you the test before even taking it
Super easy A. He gives so much extra credit and literally tells you what's exactly on the exams.
Wonderful professor! You can tell how passionate he is about the subject. Makes class interesting for what it is. Extremely understanding and fair. Gives the exam to you before taking it, and goes over answers in class. Highly recommend.
Literally gave us the test questions for 2 of the 3 tests. And gave us a 1 page paper as our 4th test grade. Gives assignments which are all extra credit and if we didn't do them, he gave us credit anyway. Almost an automatic A
he's an awesome professor. he gives a lot of extra credit and sometimes the answers to the tests
Literally the easiest class I've ever taken. Professor is super helpful and usually provides all answers to tests in advance. I still don't care about Anthropology, but it was worth taking the class.
His class is an easy A without a doubt. He gives you study guides that are exactly the same questions/answers as the exams, and a lot time gives you those answers in class. His lectures are dry and a little boring. His attendance is not always mandatory, but you will miss due dates and answers if you are not present.
This is seriously the easiest class I have ever taken to date. You have to go to the class in order to pass because that's where he tells you about all the assignments. He gives you the test in advance and basically tells us all the answers. Do not buy the book, I never got one and never needed it. Definitely recommend him for a GPA booster
This was my easiest class at WVU! He literally spoon feeds you all the information you will need on exams and assignments. He gives out ample extra credit! If you just come to class you can pass but if you come to class and write down the answers he gives you for exams and assignments, u will surely get an A!
Not a hard class, but we're 34 through the semester and I still feel like we're going over the syllabus. He's pretty depressing to listen to and if I had known, I would have taken a different class. I would enjoy the class better if he seemed more excited and made it more interesting. But it should be an easy A if you go most of the time.
This guy is the man
The longest 50 minutes I've experienced. The guaranteed A almost isn't even worth it. He implemented an attendance policy so you had to attend, but his lectures are dull andor movies from the 80s. No learning is required which frees up brain space for more challenging courses, but again, it almost isn't even worth it.
BORING CLASS. But if you dont receive an A then you really messed up. If you go to class, talk to him, and do all your assignments then you have no reason not to pass. The tests were online and the final was as well. Nice guy and very helpful. For SOCA 258 you can go on an archaeology dig.
Dry boring lectures but an easy A. Do very little work and watch a lot of movies but you learn nothing
Boring class but such an easy A. You don't have to pay attention in class just go and get your attendance points. There is a homework assignment every week but don't stress it, do it in 5 minutes literally. Volunteer in class he may give you a letter bump on a test. Overall, this class is an easy gpa booster.
While this class may be a GPA booster, it's almost not worth it. The class is extremely boring and it's an elementary school level education. He doesn't keep track of his own assignments (or grade them) so if you have a problem with one of your grades good luck, because he won't do anything. He also doesn't like people e-mailing him.
He is kind of boring but its a good class to take. As long as you come to class, do all the assigned papers, and do fairly decent on the exams, you should get an A. He will randomly take attendance so just come to class. You watch a lot of movies which are sometimes annoying but it's better than lectures.
This was such an easy class. He randomly takes attendance, not very often though. He gives many easy homework assignments and in class work. Exams are taken online. Class was canceled frequently. Basically just show up and you'll be fine.
The textbook is only necessary because he makes it necessary. The tests encompass all of the lecture notes, and his words, and the videos, and the textbook. Everything you do in that class is on the text. but you cannot study it because it has nothing to do with what we discuss in lecture. The tests are too hard for a GEC class.
Very cool understanding guy. Don't goof off and come to class and you'll get an A.
His class is an easy A. The projects, and tests are not difficult.
This teacher is the best ! Take him, Literally easiest class I've ever had. He cares about his students grades
Make sure to take very good notes and to show up to class. Everything he covers in the notes will be on the test. Your grade is mainly made up of the test you will take.
Sahady, as a person, is an extremely cool dude. He lets class out 15+ mins early every day and cancels frequently. However, his classes are painfully boring and seem to last forever. His exams are completely irrelevant to the material covered in class and I didn't use the book once.
Defiantly show up for class. I took soca 105 with him. Get the book because his lecture notes do not clearly represent what is on the exams
Boring class. Easy A if you show up and do your homework. Exams can be tricky but so much extra credit is offered you can get an A for the class with a 75 exam average
Funny guy, has a dry sense of humor. Class is boring, but not difficult. Show up, stay awake, and write down everything he says to. He sends out study guides for the exams, so be sure you have all the notes to fill them out because many of them are directly off the exam. Lastly, do all of the extra he offers.
Classes are boring and pointless, lectures are neverending and have nothing to do with the tests. All test answers found from google and pretty much nowhere else. Do the study guide and show up and you'll pass. But I don't recommend if you won't put in the work because he barely teaches you.
This is the WORST professor you will ever have. Nothing on his tests are from the notes. He is strict on everything. He wont even email you back if you have questions. You should never take his class because he sucks.
This man is horrible. He post nothing online, tells you about whats on exams 2 days before, oh and exams have nothing to do with what he taught us. Love watching someone read off of a power point screen? Get ready then, because 90% of his class is listening to him read off a word document. relax though you can get the notes online.. wait u cant
You aren't able to understand him even with his microphone on. He talks the whole time and no one knows what he is talking about. His tests are the worst part. On each exam, you aren't able to go back and check you answers which is completely not fair. Also the only extra points are a powerpoint, and that isn't fair to shy students.
He doesn't provide a schedule for assignments due so you have to listen in class. He also doesn't upload lectures onto e-campus and most of the exams cover things not discussed in lecture
Great professor. He realizes most of the students are taking the class to fill a GEF so he goes very easy on you. If you stay until the end of each class he gives tons of bonus attendance points. Do not buy the book. If he doesnt give you the exam before, theyre on quizlet so look. I ended up with a 102% because of all the bonus he gave.
He is super boring and monotone. A lot of assignments for little points but they add up. He is not accessible by email, you have to discuss anything with him before or after class. Really dry course and any questions you have, he will probably tell you to review the syllabus. Its easy but tedious work.
His lecture are not very good and he makes you watch old videos you can barely see because they are so blurry. The tests dont really go with the reviews he gives. He gives a bunch of extra credit.
One of the easiest courses I have taken. Homework was assigned once a week and was graded, it is a large part of your grade. Tests were easy as long as you went to class and somewhat payed attention. Great professor.
At first I was intimidated by this professor, but soon the class became my absolute favorite. He encourages free thought in most of your assignments as long as he can see that you put effort into it. His exams are easy if you come to class and watch the videos he assigns. Sometimes he uses class participation as a way to teach and give extra credit
overall a pretty good class. The only thing that is annoying is that he doesnt use the online program to turn in assignments. He has you email them to a certain email address and it can get kind of annoying. Im sure its just for him to navigate it just a little bit easier. easy-going guy, havent had any issues, so I havent had to reach out.
Absolutely awful grading criteria. Will ask for something and then give a zero. Rude in emails.
He had us get a textbook which is very helpful, but he also gives lecture notes that cover everything you need to know for exams. He has a very specific way he likes assignments to be submitted and if you don't do it correctly you will get a 0. Very opinion based assignments, so as long as you submit correctly, not very hard. Just do your work.
Homework is relatively easy and opinion based but there are a lot of typos and misspellings in the tests. It's ironic considering he won't accept assignments unless they are submitted perfectly. I'd recommend this class if you're looking for credits, but you don't learn very much about what archaeology actually is.
Professor Sahady knows most students take the class as a Gen Ed requirement so he does not make the course too hard to pass.
I had Professor Sahady completely online for Spring 2021, and he was fine. He sent out emails each week telling you what had to be due and when. As long as you thoroughly read through the syllabus for deadlines and assignment instructions its an easy A, just keep up with assignments.
Took him over the summer, and his class was fine. There was a cemetery project where you had to go collect data about headstones that was a bit of a pain, but overall it was an easy class. Some videos, materials, and assignments were taken from his SOCA 105 class at the beginning, which was nice since I took that right before this one.
He doesnt follow the syllabus and everything is verbal not written down for due dates.
Easy class. Take it.
If you do your assignments you will pass. The worst part is that he requires paragraph answers, but besides that its so easy.
Take this class if you want an easy A.
Sahady is honestly a nice guy, but his lectures are so boring. There are a lot of easy, opinion based assignments, and he even gave exact copies of the first two exams. If you do all of the work assigned it is an easy A.
Nice guy, dry material. His lectures are some of the most boring things I've had to sit through. He'll go on fifteen minute tangents and then say "I hope I'm not going too fast." However, the assignments are easy and opinion based. Pretty sure he doesn't even read them. Just turn them in for full credit.
The first two were easy because we were provided with the questions. Whereas, the final exam was extremely difficult.
Sahady is a good professor, but his lectures are pretty boring. There's lots of homework and he gives you credit for just turning stuff in based on your opinion. He gave us exact copies of the first 2 exams but the final was really hard. With all the extra credit he gives though, I failed the final and still got an A in the class.
Sahady is a good professor, but his lectures are pretty boring. There's lots of homework and he gives you credit for just turning stuff in based on your opinion, if the syllabus requirements were followed. I aced the first two exams based on the review he gave us, but failed the final because it wasn't similar at all, but still ended with an A.
Impossible to please, will give an entire assignment a 0 if it's not exactly the way he wants it, which is vague. Doesn't accept late work but takes forever to grade anything. He won't take late work even if you have a legitimate reason to miss something. He also doesn't allow you to do late work if you get a 0 on anything at all. Nightmare class.
This class is so boring. There are no powerpoints, just notes on the screen. Content is very dry. For a class that was supposed to be 90 minutes he used about half of the time. Unclear when it comes to what he is teaching. Personally, I would not take this class again. He talks about the same material over and over again. Very easy to sidetrack
He bases everything off the syllabus, and if you follow correctly, you will get full credit. The first 2 exams, he gives you a study guide with the exact questions. There is a decent amount of homework, not too bad and will take about 30 minutes to complete. Lectures usually are cut short and often will cancel class due to health issues. Easy Class
Attendance is taken almost every class and he does not except any lacework. If you pay attention and take notes this class is not too bad.
everything is outlined in the syllabus. if you follow the syllabus, the class is an easy a. gives you exam answers the class before the exam. got out of class early almost every class. super easy.
The one thing I will say is that the lectures are very boring so be prepared. He gives the test questions out before the test in a study guide so tests are very easy. All assignments are pretty much opinion based so easy to do well on all assignments. He recommends a textbook but I did not buy it and was completely fine.
very knowledgeable on the class material. even though he posted the notes, he talks about really important things and doesn't put them in the lecture. willing to work with students. exams are kinda not relevant to the material covered in class but overall easy to study for.
Exams were exactly like the study guides, so just do them. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives out extra credit a lot for simply just showing up. I sat through most lectures doing homework for other classes and got an A. Do not need to purchase the textbook.
The lecture consists of slides and videos. Sahady teaches so many classes, he isn't really accessible outside of class. You also have tons of assignments and wait 2+ weeks for a grade and don't receive feedback.
The class itself isn't hard, but he rarely posts assignments and the class is very lecture heavy. He acts like he doesn't want to be there and is honestly really boring. He'll give you a 0 if the assignment isn't exactly how he wants it. He posts the lecture slides, but all the important info isn't on the slides. Hated this class
This class is super easy, but super annoying. The professor will give you a zero if the assignment isn't completely to his liking, and is very unwilling to work with you if you make a mistake. However, he will provide you with study guides that completely outline the exams, so its a pretty easy A.
Sahandy is a very easy professor, yet is extremely boring and repetitive. The content itself is bland, and provides really bad lecture notes that barely help you for the exams. I dreaded going to class yet did it anyway because attendance was mandatory.
Attendance is required for a reason, his lectures are next to meaningless and extremely boring. The only difficult test is the test of patience to sit through his class. The only thing that was close to enjoyable (or educational) was digging through literal trash. Please do not take this class.
I am an Econ major and only took Sahady's class for a GEF credit. The best way to describe the professor and the class was meh. Sahady is not a bad teacher by any means, but I had zero interest in the subject so I felt his lectures were very boring. I do feel that someone who enjoys anthro will like him and his class though.
This class was very boring and his lectures did not prepare me for any of the exams. He does go over the study guides, but it is very quick and if you do not participate he will stop the review. The assignments are easy points, but they are boring too. The lectures are huge.
The textbook is optional, you really don't need it. 3 exams taken in person, identical to quizlet study resources. The class itself is very boring and hard to sit through as he talks the entire time or shows a video. Attendance is somewhat mandatory, if you miss 5 he deducts a letter grade but he doesn't always take attendance. Easy class overall.
Took Sahady's course for a GEF credit with zero interest in the topic. This made the lectures extremely long and some days unbearable. He is passionate in his class yet he relies very heavily on the syllabus he presents at the beginning of the semester. The content of your submitted assignments are debatable but make sure to follow the syllabus!
Turned interesting topics into very boring lectures; very very picky about answering emails and grading assignments. Tests were similar to study guides overall, classwork wasn't super challenging. Not a very charismatic person, to put it nicely.
Not a bad professor teaching wise but assignments were long and worth 3 points. exams were verbatim the study guide. lectures were long and boring with mandatory attendance.
Very boring class but an easy A. He is very hard to hear if you sit in the back of the class so sit up front.
Great professor easily will cancel classes for health issues. If you don't like to go to class occasionally, take this class.
I went to one class and I felt my soul being sucked out of my body. #NeverAgain.
My only professor who seems to constantly think “Because I am an anthropologist the fact isint actually the fact but it's subjective to what I think”. Also makes all online content incredibly difficult to acess.
Took this class for a whole semester but feel like I didn't learn anything in the slightest. All information is just repeated over and over again and nothing new is introduced. He says there is no attendance policy, but passes out attendance sheets every semester. Overall didn't learn anything in this class and was a waste of time
Sahady's lectures are quite dry, but the exams are fair and align with the study guides. Assignments are easy points, though a bit boring. Attendance is mandatory but not too challenging. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for exam prep.
The class was a slog and felt like if you skipped half the classes you would still be good to go for most of the tests since there was a lot of repetition of material despite the fact half the time we got out early day. Lecture were very slow and uninteresting sprinkled in with a lot of boring videos. Upside is there was a lot of free points to get
He's the most boring professor I've ever had. His lectures are extremely bland and boring. He seems like he doesn't even like the subject he's teaching. I've never had a teacher so unenthused in my life. His assignments are pretty easy but if you don't follow his exact specifications down to the most minute details he'll just give you a zero.
Class is very boring and feels like useless information. Attendance is not mandatory even though he claims it is. Studying material is very slim. Would not recommend if not necessary.
This class is boring even if you're really into anthropology. Prof. Sahady is very monotone, which is fine, but also not engaging. He shows videos in class portraying graphic sex scenes as well, which makes a lot of people in my specific course very uncomfortable. 2/10 class, would not recommend.
Sahady is very nice, but I would not recommend taking his class if you are either majoring/minoring in anthropology or are at least very interested in the topic. The class was really easy, but it's mostly lectures. They're really interesting but sometimes it's hard to pay attention, especially since it's mostly bullet points and then him talking.
This class is a waste of time. You leave class with no more information than you came in with; he speaks about whatever and then plays the oldest video of naked people with little to no explanation.
If you want to genuinely learn anything, don't take this course. Very boring lectures where he just reads off of bullet points posted online and shows unrelated videos and movies that are hard to follow. Papers/projects are super easy busy work but he's unnecessarily so picky about criteria. I skipped SO many classes and still passed with an A+
I didn't learn anything at all. He is such a nice person, but the way this class was laid out didn't help me at all.
