He is not being helpful (just like his wife). Nag too much (just like his wife). Quit you job then!!!

He makes you mark your own quizzes....doesn't know how to teach though.
He taught alot of theory in real life so i feel so bored in his class. you need to learn the course by yourself and he will help you if you are a good student in his mind.

Gives a quiz (questions are directly from the study guide) at a random point of almost EVERY class -- to make sure that everyone has read the chapter BEFORE he covers it. Likes alot of groupwork in class. Assignments aren't very hard or very long.
Don't get this prof unless you want to go back to high school. He even chooses who you do group work with. He gives quizzes ALL the time. Avoid him!
His class is so poor....i never see such a poor professor...i am not sure whether we can call him professor because he never teach us.
Hes easy, but st00pid. He told my class we were the worst one hes had in 7 years. I still got an A easy, but he actually thinks everyones going to do all the work before he even starts talking about anything
I like his teaching style. It's inspiring. He talks a lot of things that relate to current issues, and plus that his paper is easy.
He is pretty good. Tests are very easy and quizzes are right out of the study guide. Learned absolutely nothing in this class as he tends to be all over the place and hence gets everyone lost and confused. He is very easy going and personable.
He should have retired long time a ago. He is an unqualified CGA; he should be fired. He and his wife (Sheila Stephenson) are the shame of Seneca. They are the last resort I would like to seek help. That's why he was demobbed from the ACF department.

He doesn't really "teach", so if you take his class, you gotta do ALOT of self-study, BUT he is a fairly easy marker and gives "bonus" marks to boost your marks up. He's a great guy, he WANTS you to do well but there are quizzes every class, worth 0.5% of final mark, so you gotta actually GO to cla

Easy class, helpful and nice teacher.Quizes and assignments every class streight from the study guide all semester, and the same questions will be on the final. Good marker. I recommend.
THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD
He's a smart person but has no idea how to teach! Be prepared to teach yourself, you need to be there everyday for the quiz but bring a book to read since anything he says is completely off topic and will only confuse you! Talk as much as possible to get bonus marks!
He is a really good teacher. He uses everyday examples to explain concepts relating to economics. I hated economics before his class.
Very good Prof, he makes an effort to engage his students in politics which Canadian students lack interest, lots of bonus marks. read newspaper everyday bring up anything in it you will get A end of semester
Best Economics teacher ever! He made this subject VERY interesting. To succeed in his class, you have to do ALOT of work OUTSIDE out class -- since he expects you to have read the chapter AND have done the homework BEFORE he reviews it in class and wants you to discuss it. He likes groupwork and is good at forming groups who can work well together.

this is the worst teacher who will give you a large number of assignments to complete. If you choose his class, you will spend your all spare time to do his assignments and no time to study other course.

He is a self-study teacher, but he courages student to work on his course. You are suppose to talk to him. He will give you some suggestion about your future career. He is patient and helpful teacher. I guess he could get a heart attack. In my opinion, he is marking fair for me. If you want to work a lot, you will take his course. Good Luck.
He is a qualified instructor! He gives you strategies leading to success. He lets you know that success does not merely come from the best grade in college. Your communication, interpersonal ability and network are more important. Talk to him and let him know your questions and future plan. He will give you a great help!
This guy is nice but has absolutely no idea how to teach...he should just retire.
He is a very nice and helpful teacher. Got an easy A in his class. Most of the time you will be marking your own quizes. He likes students who participate in class and speak-up. Do not care you are right or wrong, just speak-up, he really likes that. Very good at making groups. One thing though, you have to study alooot for his class.

If you like hands on learning then I suggest you to take this professor. A typical class is just going through the answers for homework and exercises assigned by him. Those that say he is a good teacher is out of your minds! I am a A+ student at Seneca and I don't know what I would get in his course yet but I am just upset that he doesn't teach at all. I will not choose his for any course any more. It's everybody's unfortunate thing to choose him. I got A in ACC120, but his foolish lessons make me crazy. He is shameless to say: my teaching style is not teaching. OK, He should return my tuition fee. He is not qualified to be a teacher in SENECA and get paid.

Hes a really good teacher. He cares about your future plans not just your career at seneca. I just read chapter summary and you will do fine on the quizes. If you need any help just go to talk to him and he will spend time going over it in detail. Hes a knowledgeable teacher!

I wouldn't recommend him to anyone who is just beginning to pursue accounting in their career. He doesn't teach at all...and he's trying to show everyone that he cares...but he doesn't!!!..he would be an OK prof if he start changing his teaching ways. Overall, i suggest get someone better for your own sake if you want to pursue accounting.

If you like to learn on your own, then take his class. He wants you to think for yourself and learn by yourself. He's very strict. Doesn't give any sort of lecture. Gives TONS of homework, and then has the students present their work to the class. I wouldn't recommend taking his class.
I took his acc class both acc120 and 220. I really appriate his teaching style.I got A+ and A in the two courses. By the way, he is realy a easy marker.haha...lots of My class mates also got high mark.
He is a good Prof. Gives a lot of h/w, but if you do it, you will pass the course with at least B. Very helpful, if you ask for help. Encouraging students to think and learn the material. He is kind of Profs who know very well what they are teaching and can give real world examples.

He is a professor not only just teach you things about textbook, but also teach you to think more than textbook. Go to his class and talk to him, you will benefit a lot about the real life work as an accountant. He has been so willing to help students. He is a professor can really help you for your future career plan.

he is an amazing professor. I haven't taken any of his classes but ths one time i went to my professors office and he wasn't there. Mr Doug asked me what the problem was and he was more than willing to help me. With the clarity and simplicity he explained me the problem was just amazing. If i ever get a chance to take this prof I will be very happy

To the person who never had Doug for classes and went for help: Good to hear that your satisfied his help, but his class is different story then just going to office help. in his class, he can be very brutal and mean. outside of class, he nice, humorous and gives hint to what expect in future career. He was not a very good teacher. In class he would put us in groups and make us work on homework questions and whoever would put it up on the board and explained it would get "bonus points" it was so weird. He gave alot of pop quizzes so be prepared for that.

This one didn't give lectures and expected you to self-study. He was there only to answer questions. So I had to spend triple time on learning his course than I spent on learning ACC120. Although he made minumum efforts in teaching, he would demand maximum respect from you. He subjected his students to much harsher rules than the school would allow

Yeah,you need to prepare fully to attend his class. He hardly teaching routine,but his class is challenging and intersest. You just ask if you interest in anything, whatever daily business news of textbook. If you are lazy, don't choose him. If you have enthusiasm in accounting, he is reaaaaally helpful~~

Nice guy but horrible prof. Be prepared to learn on your own and be bored during the lecture. No examples on the bored just straight out of his mouth examples. Overall just bad!
GOOD professor! push me learn by myself and he'll answer all questions in class. In his class, he only solve problems, so somehow it really push me to read the book and do all exercises. What I learned by myself will never forget! When you have problems, send him an email or ask him in class, he will answer it ASAP. Very Help professor!
GOOD PROFESSOR.. explain every materials clearly, give u a lot of exercise but not mandatory, having a small quiz for every chapter is done....he is the best teacher is kind of boring class though
Great professor! while not everyone likes his teaching style. He doesn't teach, he pushes us to learn,we can find questions either email him or bring to class, he will answer ASAP. what I learnt from these 2 courses I will never forget. I get this learning style from him, and I'm really appreciate it!

Very confusing, would talk about an upcoming assignment for entire period and then we would never hear about it again. Semester long assignment was constantly changing and no clear criteria was ever given. When asked to give examples of material he said it would be giving us the answer. Considering he was also the program coordinator .F
This guy does not know what he wants. He tells you to do one thing and he cant even remember what he had told you. The next week when he grades and gives feedback, he will tell you what you did is wrong (Which he told in class the previous week). Very unclear instructions and confusing advises. He will confuse you and himself at the same time.

WORST ACCT PROF EVER. He leaves every class for 30minhour+ to take a "lunch break". He tells you every class you should be reading on your own and coming to him with questions; aslo, doesn't solve any practice questions or show you how to solve. Only talks about how he worked at the Rogers Centre or his RRSP. BETTER LIKE READING THE TEXTBOOK!
All he does is read the learning objectives from the textbook. He doesn't actually teach you how to do anything. You're better off not even going to class and just reading the book. Luckily there is a lot of bonus assignments and quizzes. But you better be good at teaching yourself. Also he has the most boring monotone voice impossible to listen to
To the person who said about "RRSP, etc". Not only is he preparing you for your career, he is preparing you for your financial future. What will you live on after you retire other then $$$ saved from pay cheques? You cant rely on CPP & old age security anymore. He is giving you wisdom for life. There is no such thing as a free ride in life.
He's a bit annoying because most u heard is coughing not speaking. His outline isn't easy to read&he usually skips some of the important topics. He talks a lot of things that aren't included in the textbook, which may be good to someone, but not for me. He mentioned what u have to focus in the midterm. Tbh, u dun have to go to his lecture. Studyurself.
I'll say that he is an incredibly nice and approachable professor. Very knowledgeable and good for having a conversation with about the industry or economy. But my God is he an atrocious professor. Did not learn anything in class. Attended classes to take the weekly quizzes. You get participation marks. Self taught the entire course. Could have learned a lot more with a better prof.
Be prepared to study on your own for this course. Professor does not have any clear teaching instructions. Course heavy and time consuming.
