Very nice. Explains everything well. Great Econ teacher.

Take Weimer for ECON 2000. I have heard horror stories about all other ECON instructors. There is a HUGE curve that shifts according to class average, but most of the time, a 65 is either a low B or high C. Practice quizzes = Actual quizzes, and all quizzes are the same as the Exams. Boring class, but he does his damnedest to make it simple.
Such a great professor! Willing to help you out if you don't understand something and makes the class really interesting. GO TO CLASS! He is more willing to help if he recognizes you. And read the book, he told me himself that it comes down to reading the book!
Very nice guy, really helpful if you go see him outside of class. I found the textbook extremely helpful as well! I hear awful things about the other Econ teachers, definitely go with Weimer if you can!
Nice guy. Old school. Great explanations and probably the best freehand graph drawings I've ever seen. Take him!
Great teacher! Very willing to help and is not out to fail. Nice guy
Nicest teacher I have ever met. Actual class was pretty difficult for me but he does a great job of explaining the difficult concepts. He's willing to help in any way that he can.
So happy I had him as a teacher! Such a sweet man, and tried his best to make everyone achieve their best grade. The final was a little harder than expected, but I am still happy I had him. Definitely the best Econ 2000 teacher
Great professor! The material covered is hard but he is extremely helpful. Always responds to emails and is ALWAYS willing to help. TAKE HIM!
He's really knows what he's talking about and that makes it a little better. The material is difficult but he offers as much help as possible. Sweet man.
The best Econ teacher there is. If you have a chance to take him, please do! He is such a nice man who tries explain Econ to the best of his abilities and just wants you to pass. He puts in a curve into Moodle since the beginning of the semester and it really helps your grade. If you really want to pass this class, READ THE BOOK!! only way 2 pass
I've never taken ECON before in my life, and I decided to jump into an Honor's Econ class. It wasn't all that bad. We moved faster than the normal class. I've skipped class, and shopped in class. I had to do a lot of reading because I didn't pay attention but if you did the homeworkunderstood it, then you're probably good. I finished with a B.
I would say based on my friends teachers, i am glad I took Weimer. You don't have to really take notes because he gives you the power point slides and attendance is not mandatory but trying to learn 6 chapters at a time without hearing any lecture would be a pain so just go to class and ask questions to get more involved. i could have done better!
Great teacher. Hated econ but loved going to class to see Doug. He was extremely helpful and made things clear in class. Tests were difficult but not impossible if you study. Curved the tests, also curved the class so a 65% was a C
One of the sweetest men I have known recently. He is willing to go out of his way to help his students which is vital for many due to the difficulty of the course. He relates the abstract economic theory to more tangible experiences making it easier to learn. For example, one day he brought in candy to teach us (and feed us).
Although class in not mandatory, the small group that keeps going gets extra credit. His tests were all multiple choice and only had 25 questions on each exam. You had to apply the concepts you learned in the chapter though. If you don't read the chapter and study all illustrations you will fail. There is no bs-ing this class.
Attendance is definitely NOT mandatory in this class. He posts all notes, powerpoints, test answers, etc online. Also, if you just go to class and listen to his lectures, you will fail. You're better off not going to class and reading the textbook. Reading the textbook and going to the SI sessions is what will get you a good grade in this class.
Good teacher and easy class but still interesting. You don't have to go but he sometimes gives extra credit
He's a very good teacher, actually cares about the students. Everything is pretty clear cut for what you have to do. You don't have to go to class, there's no pop quizzes and he puts all the notes on moodle. The homework is not very much and its simple. Tests are the toughest part but they aren't bad at all. Definitely would take this teacher.
Doug is very accommodating and informative in the classroom. He is a former businessman, so he approaches ECON from a different perspective than some of the other teachers. He thrived on class participation in our small honors class and truly enjoyed when he could see us gain understanding.
Very clear, thorough, and straight forward. Takes his time to make sure you understand the material. Will work with you in and out of class to the best of his abilities. Former business man so he knows what he's doing with a very rational and well planned approach to Economics.
just stop a moment. close your eyes. now a imagine a good economics professor. sign up for Weimar's class. go to the first lecture, open your eyes. There he is, in the flesh. He teaches econ , as it is, giving it concrete and easy to understand form. He's fantastic at what he does, test and hw aren't bad. 10/10 would take again
Weimer is actually the first econ professor that I understood, when I went to class. Class is not mandatory but going will mostly help you out. Definitely get the test banks for the class, studying them is a pain because it is so much material but his tests are word for word from them. Would take again if he taught 2035!
Professor Weimer was absolutely the best ECON professor I've had. Although the class was at 7:30 a.m. I would definitely retake him. Completely clear on all of the concepts explained. Exams are very similar to what was seen in the homework. He always answered any questions I had very thoroughly. Take him!
Awesome guy and a good professor - BUT econ is still hard, so don't expect it to be a walk in the park. Probably the best econ professor at LSU though. Take him if you have the chance. He really does care about his students and wants everyone to do well. Still gotta work for it though. Love Weimer!
Favorite professor at LSU. Homework is easy. Tests are not awful.
Best ECON professor I've had at LSU. Homework is for easy points. Tests were similar to the homework and not too bad. He explained all the concepts completely and was always accessible outside of class. Take him if you can!
One day, he gave us a printed out version of the homework and told us that he likes that we go to class, and decided to give us the answers to the homework and would take that for the grade. Absolutely one of my favorite teachers ever, and the nicest older man ever.
Weimer was so helpful in every way! Not only did he explain econ in a way that it actually made sense, but he went out of his way to personally send me a copy of a test that I missed to help me study for the final. Econ is inevitably difficult but he made this class actually enjoyable!
Outstanding professor. He doesn't make it easy, econ is tough and he wants you to understand the material. However, he's probably the most dedicated instructor I've had. He looks for questions in class, stays after to answer any more, responds to emails, had study reviews before the final, and more. Goes above and beyond to help. Take his section.
GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. I wish I would have started this from the beginning. Econ is hard, his class isn't any different, but he is more than willing to help. He will talk it through with you until you get a better understanding. Really sweet man.
Douglas Weimer is by far my favorite professor here at LSU. He is one of the most caring and kind people I know. He will go over practice problems and review the lectures over again, which few Econ professors do. Overall, compared to all other Econ professors, he is the best at teaching the course (which of course means that its still very hard).
Professor Weimer is definitely the best econ professor at lsu! Econ is still a very hard subject but he is more than willing to help you if you put in the effort.
This is Econ so be prepared to do Econ but he's extremely clear and understandable. Going to class is not needed but recommended. No curve-balls on the tests, some of the homework questions are put on the test. Study decently ell and you'll be fine
I took the time to get on this just to tell you how great professor Weimer is. He's the nicest teacher I've ever had period. So welcoming. Slides are detailed and his lectures are easy. Econ is a tough course, but he tries his best to make it easy on you. Homework is simple & short. I'd even get on a waitlist for his class, he's that great of a man
So Econ is hard, at least for me, but having a professor who knows his stuff & cares about the course material makes it invaluably better. More than willing to help you if you don't understand something. From what I've heard, other Econ profs don't even compare. If you've gotta take Econ, do yourself a favor & take it with this guy.
Doug is the coolest guy, 100% willing to put in the extra work to make sure you understand the material. He makes Econ enjoyable (believe it or not) and abstract concepts easy to understand. Easily in the top 3 profs on campus. if you have to take econ, or just want an enjoyable elective, take doug
He's an amazing professor. So caring and very smart. He has a lot of real-world examples from his experience as a businessman. Regular amount of homework, but it's so easy. LearnSmarts on the online textbook are the most helpful thing that you can use to study.
Mr. Weimer is such an awesome professor! I definitely think that it's very beneficial to go to lecture. He's an awesome teacher, and the class really isn't that hard, even though the material can be tricky. Just study, show up to class, and you'll be fine. He is very easy to meet with, and he truly cares. I just wish he taught more classes!
Dr. Weimer cares about the subject he teaches and REALLY knows it well. He is a FANTASTIC teacher. 10/10 would take again.
By far one of my favorite professors at LSU. He makes hard econ concepts easier to understand. Homework once a week but takes 5 minutes. Tests are MC and not bad if you study the slides posted. He truly cares about his students- meets for office hours, asks everyone how they felt about test, stays after class for questions. Genuine man, MUST TAKE!!
Mr. Weimer is so incredibly caring towards his students. He's a professor who genuinely wants everyone to understand the material and takes the time to explain complicated concepts.
Professor Weimer is a really good teacher. His lectures and the textbook are really helpful. There is homework weekly but its not too challenging and there are multiple attempts on it. The tests are not too bad if you use the textbook to study for them. Overall one of the best econ teachers I've had and a perfect teacher for freshman year.
Mr. Weimer has been my favorite professor at LSU. He does a really good job explaining concepts and is an overall nice guy.
Doug is the MAN. Great class. Definitely would take again. Very genuine professor who cares and wants his students to be successful.
Definitely one of my favorite professors at LSU. He truly cares for all of his students & wants them to do well. He teaches for you to learn- but also teaches for you to pass the tests. He makes material that seems difficult very easy. The class is lecture heavy and I would advise to go to class everyday since it moves fast! Take him if you can!!
Great professor. Attendance is up to the student. Tests are given online through connect and he posts his lecture notes
I took the time while studying for his exam to explain how great Professor Weimer is. You can tell how intelligent of a man he is when talking about econ. He makes the difficult material much easier to comprehend. I enjoy attending his class because the environment is good. He is easily my favorite professor at LSU so far! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!
Doug is literally the best teacher I've ever had. He actually cares about his students and makes a good connection with the class, making it easier to learn from him as well. Easy to talk to and very understanding. Please take his class if you can! He really is the best!
LOVED HIM!!!! Classes are kinda boring if econ isn't your thing. Homeworks and smartbooks are required, but they were very helpful. I would read the textbook before a test. Would def take again! He rewards students for going to class, even if it isn't mandatory. Tests were on Connect, but he talked about changing that.
I am taking him in spring 2022 and he must have changed the way he gives tests because they are no longer on connect like the other reviews say. They are on paper and a large chunk of your grade. They are VERY difficult. the class average for the first one was 68 and the second one was 61. He is nice and cares a lot. Just hard material.
good professor, makes economics an easier topic to understand.
He is easy to understand and good at explaining hard concepts. He is approachable and wants his students to do well. The tests are easy if you actually read the chapter in the textbook, but you have to put in effort to get a good grade.
I can not say enough GOOD about Professor Weimer! He is absolutely the BEST choice for ECON2000. I did the Honors version; take honors version if youre an honors student. More interaction with him! Great lecturer, genuinely helped you out if you needed it, not a hard grader. Just do your part! Read, take smart books, take quizzes, attend class.
He is very caring about his students but the exams are weighted heavily and unlike some other Econ 2000 classes, there are no practice tests so any material from the textbook or lecture is fair game. He gives random participation grades so go to class.
Great professor. He was available for office hours and always answered my questions and explained concepts that confused me. Definitely was not a hard class if you attended lectures and reviewed the powerpoints before class.
Great professor
Honestly one of the best professors at LSU. If you go to class and pay attention, his tests are very manageable. He teaches because he enjoys it and is very personable and willing to help you out if you need it. If you can take his class, do it.
Really great professor. His lectures are straight to the point and makes microeconomics interesting to learn. As long as you attend class, you should do well on the exams/final.
If you can, take Professor Weimer's class He is extremely kind and understanding, and very clear with what assignments need to be completed Econ itself is a difficult course, but attending the lectures, taking notes, reading the text book and studying you're guaranteed to get an A
If you need ECON 2000 or 2001, try to take this guy. Transparent about grades/expectations from day 1. Tests are graded and entered within a couple days usually. Only other grades are readings and quizzes on McGraw Hill (easy) and some forum posts (also easy). Lectures are helpful but no need to go if you understand the material from the readings.
Could not say enough good things about Doug! He is a great professor and is so willing to help when needed. There are about 5 or 6 attendance grades in this class but it is definitely beneficial to go to the lectures- goes over test questions come. Curved his exams AND changed the grading scale so that I would pass his class with the required C.
Weimer is probably one of my favorite professors, super understanding, available and quick to respond, he does speak in a monotone so lectures do get boring but his class is super easy, I only ever went to class for the exams and review days and read over the practice he would give and I got a B. Homework is easy, I took him for 2000 and 2011.
Mr. Weimer is the best professor I've had at LSU. He provides several real-world examples, videos, and articles. He is very kind, if you ever have a question he is there to help. Exam reviews were very clear and after the exam, he went over the most missed questions. I appreciate the time and effort he spent to help us succeed. Take his class!
Professor Weimer is honestly probably the best teacher I have ever had. He is insanely smart, and he knows his stuff. All you have to do to pass this class is attend class and pay full attention to the lectures (and of course study). You will make an A, but you have to work for it. His lectures are amazing, and were always perfectly explained.
Dr. Doug is a fantastic human. Really cares about his students and the grades they receive. He understands that gen eds aren't of the utmost importance to other majors but still teaches with passion.
Mr. Doug is the best econ prof out there! I've taken him for both 2001 and 2010, and he's great! Always willing to help and truly caring if you need any help with the material !
Great professor! One of the best I have had at LSU. I took his class two modules ago. After some of the nightmares I had for other professors, I realized how awesome and rare he is. He met with me twice to go over things outside of class. He was always available by email and was prompt to respond. I can't say enough good things about this guy.
Professor Weimer is a great professor. He is super educated and truly knows what he is talking about. Economics is hard, but he makes it as understandable as he can with real world examples. He will help you as much as he can outside of class if you need it as well. The only bad thing about his class is he doesn't provide a study guide for test.
. Assignments are easy and there's a lot of points to be earned. There was a curve for my class, and it benefitted me. ECON can be hard for some people, so studying for tests is paramount. Attendance is not mandatory, but his lectures are very useful for comprehension, and I regret not attending all of them.
A genuinely nice professor who cares deeply and seems to teach with a passion. Class lectures are interesting and engaging but not required. Tests are in class and somewhat easy.
Excellent professor -I hope to take him again for Econ 2010. He is interesting and clarifies the complex topics. It is a difficult class. You will need to work. Exams (65% of grade) in class on paper. 35% Smartbook/HW/forum posts help boost grade. No extra credit but slightly curved final grades. Responds quickly to emails. Take him if you can!
Weimer is the best. Lectures not mandatory and posts exam review slides on moodle before each test. Final is kind of difficult but the regular exams were not bad at all. Will respond to your email ASAP if you have a question or emergency before an exam. He knows his stuff and has good lectures if you decide to go (I did not go and got an A)
Ultimately it's ECON so it's going to be hard, but he really cares about making sure you understand. Do the HW before class so you can get a leg up on what he's talking about. Super good about office hours and emailing.
Micro can be a very challenging topic, but I thought Doug did a great job with lecturing and helping students retain information. The only thing that was tricky were exams, so I wouldn't take this class if you're not a good test taker, but 35% of your grade is free points. You will get the grade in this class based on the effort you put into it.
Professor Weimer is an amazing professor. Microeconomics can be challenging, but he does his best to help his students learn the content. Attendance is not mandatory, but it is helpful to go as his explanations and lectures can be very helpful in your understanding. Exams aren't easy, so be expected to put time into studying.
Professor Weimer is the sweetest to ever exist!! I absolutely loved taking his class. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see everyone succeed. Tests are given in class and are a large percentage of the final class grade.
He was the sweetest teacher ever. Would definitely take again.
Amazing professor. Super knowledgeable about economics and truly cares about his students. Doesn't take attendance. Answers emails very quickly and is always available to help if you are struggling. Reviews for every exam. They are kind of difficult but if you study you will get an A. Overall my favorite professor and class.
He is so great, he has tons of real life experience and he tries to keep class fun for what a heavy class Econ is. I can't recommend his class enough, I wish he was doing my next ECON level. Show up, do the Smartbook assignments, and use the textbook to help in spots you are confused about.
He's a great person with lots of experience but, I found he doesn't adequately prepare his students for tests. His homeworks are not the same style as his tests and he doesn't give practice tests. However, he is easily accessible outside of class and with find a time to meet with you. Not the greatest, not the worst.
I attended all the lectures and I can truly say this was one of my favorite classes this semester! Though, I must say, I like school and enjoy learning so I might be a little biased. The professor is kind and enjoys answering questions for students in class. He gives great real-world examples on the topics he teaches.
He was a great professor for an online class. There was no mandatory lecture just McGraw-hill assignments, discussions and 2 tests. I heard from some friends that Econ would be a difficult class but he made it easy to understand and enjoyable.
Honestly, this class is more like you really have to understand the material. You have to apply rather than what some ppl are used to. Don't cram every chapter until the last second. The TA he chose wasn't helpful, but he was accessible via email or for scheduling a meeting. He has three tests and one final; the final is weighted a bit more.
