He thinks that SCCC is Harvard. Attending lecture is pointless, which might have been okay if the textbook was actually helpful. His exams are epic and you have to narrow down which questions you won't have time to answer. He really knows his stuff, but presents it in a nonsensical manner.

okay, so i felt that this was a very difficult class. i agree with the comment that he gives you "50 mins for a three hour test". i totally had to go through the test and answer everything i knew best and anything that might take me more than a minute had to be saved for last, there was always several problems i was unable to finish. if you dont read and somewhat understand all the material for his lectures ahead of time your pretty much not gonna do very good.

Not an objective grader. Your grade will not convey what you really know. The Homework is too hard and the lab reports are very long. If your are going to take this class make sure you don't take more than 6 other credits because your are going to have to do most of the study on your own. The book doesn't help either.

If you can help it go to North Seattle CC for chemistry. Seattle Central's chemistry series is incredibly difficult (harder than UofW). NSCC is easier and they cover fewer chapters per quarter and actually allow you the opportunity to learn chemisty. Kalyn Owens is the best at NSCC.

Professor Wick really helped me understand chemistry this past year and he was always available to help with questions. He is by far one of the nicest teachers I've ever had. Although there is substantial work in this class, you will do just fine if you complete assignments on time and study!

hardest class ive ever taken. lots of hw assignments on aleks, but I found that aleks and the prof contradicted each other often leading to confusion. tests almost exclusively consisted of what was taught in class rather than hw. tough grader, and exams had such a large weight on final grade. caring guy, but was super harsh when it came to grades

I used to think this class was hard, but now I expect this level of difficulty in every class after transferring to UW, which does not always give good feedback as Dr. Wick does. Ask questions, read the textbook (Openstax, free pdf online), do example problems, and you will succeed.

BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD! He is very considering and is able to work with what you have. He is very knowledgeable in this topic and conveys it well. If you get stuck go to office hours, he will help you understand. He is funny and teaches chemistry in an understanding and interesting way. Take his class; but remember you have to WORK HARD!

Dr Wick is a great professor! He really cares about his students and is a great educator, his lectures are very clear and cohesive. But his class is very difficult, you need to put in lots of work, ask questions when you get them, and show up to class. The pacing of the course is also pretty fast & he doesn't give enough examples on some topics.

Dr. Wick is nice but has crazy high expectations. Expectations were unclear due to poor/overwhelming organization between the textbook, ALEKS, and in class lectures. Each covered material differently, no telling which version of a topic would be on tests/what to study, impossible to study all 3. Hard tests, the class average on the final was 51%

My favorite part about Professor Wick was his dedication to his students. He's the type of teacher who wants all his students to understand the material and succeed. His lectures are clear, he's good at explaining complex concepts, and he is very receptive to questions in and out of the classroom. His workload was consistent and he grades fairly.

Dr. Wick does not curve but offers extra credit on exams and in class. Exams and final are 50% of the grade and the average for each exam was around a 2.0 sometimes not passing. Gives partial credit. Lectures in class sometimes have little relevance to the exam but the aleks and readings do. GO TO OFFICE HOURS he is v helpful. Final average was 57%

He is a nice teacher but the assignments were often hard to understand because they were very specific. Tests were the worst, but there was usually time to prepare and he provided practice tests/keys to prepare for the test. Even though the tests were hard, Professor Wick is a very nice and understanding teacher!

Great prof. and a super cool and fun guy. A hard class but it's supposed to be hard. Not a ton of assignments, the final grade is mostly the tests and the weekly ALEKS. My advice is to keep working and learning even when there is no assignment to do (study). Sometimes hard to take notes in class but you need to. You don't need to buy the textbook.

Dr. Wick is the ideal hard-science professor. He is engaging and fun while being a very organized professional. A black-belt level teacher who turns the profession into an art form. Dr. Wick is supportive and wants you to succeed. Read the textbook, read it again, come to class with questions, and use all his available time to ask for help.

I enjoyed this class, fun labs, and in-depth lectures that sometimes left me dumbfounded for hours, but it usually made sense by next morning. The tests are super tough—expect test grades far lower than any other tests you've taken in other classes, but don't stress; you can earn back some points with extra credit. P.S. Hi Wick, see you in 163.

The most frustrating part for of the class was the lack of clear expectations for ANYTHING. Grading is very subjective, even if you do everything on the report guidlines and use his feedback from previous reports, he'll dock points for seemingly random things if you don't naturally write how he likes. Nice prof, but very hit or miss.

Dr. Wick definitely knows his stuff but lectures are often hard to follow. I suck at just learning by listening, his slides do not provide much information to help him understand what he is talking about, he talks a lot. Very unclear grading, no clear guidelines. Not a lot of assignments but the grade was 45% based on tests/final.

Great chemist probably but not great at teaching it. Lectures are difficult to follow, grading is not only unclear, but very strict. Practice tests aren't very relevant to actual tests and expectations are not particularly clear either. Difficult to improve upon lab reports as previous lab report isn't available for over a month after turn-in.

flaming hot cheetos professor, tests are super hard and concept heavy. Exams and quizzes weight's are similar, lab is where he gets you. There is practice exams for every test, make sure you do them, they're similar to the actual exams structure-wise. Class is def conceptual based rather than memorization. Take Marie if ur more into memorizing
