An easy clas if you go to the logic center a few times and then you'll get the just of logic and beable to learn it from her or on your own. Quizes are very easy and the test are the midterm and Final which only are from each quater.
aweful logic teacher. way harder than others.
Her class is the easiest logic class out of all of them. No tests, no homework just quizes, midterm and final. She curves all quizes, midterms and finals and our class did so bad on the final she did not make it count. She wants you to do well.
This class is REALLY easy. TAKE IT. She's weird... talks about drugs a lot. She's really liberal, but she's fun, and is really willing to help. The quizzes are right from the notes and the midterm is just like the quizzes.

She was not a hard teacher, but the actual contenet on the class was sometimes a little difficult.
BORING!!! if u can actually stay awake and pay attention i'm sure you could do well. however, staying awake is impossible. i learned more by just reading the text and doing the problems on my own. easy grader tho. grades on a curve. no graded hw. find ur own way to learn & keep up.
She's easy. Grades on a curve which is nice. You have to learn some stuff on your own because there are no homeworks. Her tests are true/false and fill in.
She has quizes every Thursday which are easy, but they're only worth 10-15 points so if you don't do well it adds up. She talks about how she wants to legalize drugs and is very liberal. Overall the class was okay even though I ended up with a C. I would recommend taking another class if you can.
Awesome teacher. Her love of philosophy is reflected in her teaching techniques. Very willing and excited to help after class and during office hours. Get to know her and use her as a mentor. Content of class work can be difficult at times, so read and go to class. Flexible grading.
Baber's so cool; she reminds me of a hobit, albeit one who always smokes. She's so smart she often doesn't realize we don't understand the material as well as her. She's so nice & funny & really wants her students to do well. Easy grader, no tests or quizzes, just one paper, don't have 2 go 2 class
Not too bad. You do need to pay attention in class in order to get an A but I would imagine this to be a perfect paff-fail class for those who are not majoring in related fields. Good for me though and I expect an A and an average grade will be a high B I would imagine.
this teacher is very knowlegeable on the subject, but has a tendency to sometimes lose her students while attempting to explain her thought process. if you keep up with the reading, this class is not tough to get an A, and she doesn't enforce attendance. overall good teacher!
HORRIBLE PROF.! Majority of students don't retain ANYTHING! Great for PASS/FAIL .. otherwise, take somebody else!!
NUTS!!!! This woman goes on random tangents, gets the whole class lost half the time, gives a quiz every week and never answears the questions that are asked, only take her if she's the last professor on campus and then take it P/F
Shes nuts, the class is easy if you can listen to her speeches. Cant really miss class ever though.
Baber is super nice and if you are struggling with the material, go to office hours because she will help you. She really wants her students to do well and appreciate the subject like she does.

Her quizzes and midterms are all the same format T/F on concepts. Pretty easy, need to read questions carefully. But quizzes are only 10-15 points.. so missing 2 is a B. Don't really need to go to class unless you want clarity. Class can be boring, but it's a pretty laid back class and should be easy B
The class is pretty easy if you realize that the T/F quizes are just a little tricky. This woman is absolutely insane! I love her for it, but not everyone will. Please don't graduate from USD without meeting this professor, even if you don't take her class. Afterwards, you'll be able to say 'now i've seen everything.'
she's crazy. very kind, but you can't follow her lectures - she's too smart to teach anyone anything. as a preceptor, wants to help, but doesn't really know how. grades on a curve, but that doesn't help much.
Shes pretty fair all in all.. Her tests and quizzes arent too hard, and pretty much what she talks about is on the quizzes. The class doesnt take too much studying and it isnt a class that you'll be worrying about all the time. Easy B. Shes pretty weird though.
She is and amzing teacher, I actually understand logic now, she is super halpful, friendly and understanding, the best logic teacher on campus, everyone should take her, you will leave actually understanding logic, and she hands out great helpful worksheets too!! :)
Most boring class ever! Easy, but really really boring.
Dr. Baber is an amazing professor. She writes down everything you need to know on the whiteboard and she genuinely cares about the material. The class is split up into two sections; one for philosophy and the other for formal proofs (logic). The first part just requires you to memorize concepts. I would definitely recommend Dr. Baber's class.
Interesting first half of the class about thinking about weird(paranormal things) and boring but not so bad half with formal logic.
She is weird! Going to her class is more confusing than if you study on your own. Overall, the class is pretty easy. Grades major tests on a curve.
boring class, but she was helpful
Baber is way to smart to be teaching this class. She is very fast and its much easier to just read the book..i would def do the practice problems after the chapters because thats the only way to understand the class. easy to get a B though because she grades on a major curve.
Class is really really boring but it's pretty easy if you listen and atleast try to put forth an effort.
She is honestly a really sweet woman. With that said don't take her class if you are the kind of person who refuses to attend office hours. Lectures are boring, but if she believes you are trying she will help you out. If you get stuck on any proofs go ask her for a hint, she will give it to you.
Intro. to Logic is a pain in the ass as it is. Baber does a 'light' version of Hurley Logic and it makes it much easier to get through the semester. She is 100% ready to help you in spare time and is more then willing to spend class time helping with problems. Easy class to get a B or above if you put in 2 hours a week (maybe less) outside of class
idk what every1 is talking about.she confused the material more.logic is hard enough & she doesnt know how to teach it 2 ppl who have never seen it before.drops lowest test score and curves but there are tests every week.don't have to go to class.
Horrible Prof. Do not take. VERY boring and made class much harder than the other logic classes were. Take anyone else but baber!
Do not take this class! It is easy if you pay attention but the lectures are incredibly boring and she uses two textbooks when other classes only use half of one! And she teaches harder material that no one else had to learn. She is willing to help even on tests if you show an interest but the class is soooooo BORING!
Class is SUPER boring-I dreaded going to class-but Dr. Baber is so helpful and will take the extra time to make sure you do well! You have to be pro active and ask questions and see her during office hours though. Not all formal logic like other classes=MORE INTERESTING.
I thought Dr. Baber was a great professor! Sure, the subject material is a bit 'out there' at first, but if you put the work into it and go to class, you will do well. There are 10 quizzes, a midterm, and a final, and she drops your lowest quiz grade. She is very passionate about logic and loves to help during office hours.
Baber is a pretty cool teacher. Although her explanations might not be so clear....she's always willing to explain things to make sure you get it.
I am a straight-A student, and have never received anything lower than a B in my life. Her tests are impossible. Baber does not know how to teach. She is in her own world. Very rude during office hours, and not helpful at all. Makes you feel stupid. The only reason anyone gets an A in her class is because she curves BIG tim, or else all would fail!
She is very smart so her lectures the first half of the semester sound like toung twisters but don't worry! Go home and make flashcards of her powerpoints, you do not even have to read the book I promise. All the quiz questiions come from the slides. The second half is a lot easier because you get to do proofs and you'll have the rules during quize
dreaded going to this class. did not enjoy it what so ever. she means well but she is EXTREMELY confusing. for an intro class, she was not very clear in her explanations and moved at a fast pass. she is nice and knows what shes talking about but she was way to confusing
She really loves the subject matter, which helps. She was pretty interesting, and presented the info very clearly. She made difficult subject matters easy to grasp.
She is a great teacher...will even help you WHILE taking a test.. there is no HW just quizzes every week and midterm/final. Each quiz has from 10-20 T/F. Take this class if you can its as easy as eating a cake.. I got an A+ and only showed up on the day of exams
She is very into her job and thinks that the world revolves around logic. She gives weekly quizes, a midterm, and a final. The first half of the semester is reading and memorization, and the second half is mathmatical type proofs. Her multiple choice is confusing. Unless you are passionate about logic, I would choose a different prof.
Avoid taking Baber if you can. She does not care whether or not her students understand the material. My peers in other logic classes explained how easy they thought logic was while I struggled in Baber.Quizes every Thursday become a real pain. They probably wouldn't be as bad if she actually explained the material well (what I expect from teachers)
Shes a nice person but is horrible@ teaching. She really knows her subject and thinks its soo easy anyone can get it. She teaches things that other teachers dont even bother 2. Way to indepth and her test are hard. Anyone just trying to fill a GE definitely dont take her class. I learned more from the book in 2 weeks then all of her teaching :(
AVOID IF YOU CAN. attendence not mandatory, but if u show up its still as if you weren't there. a class where u basically end up teaching yourself. I got a B after tons of tutoring and office hours. wierd, but nice lady, just avoid if u can.
Avoid taking her class for logic. She loves logic and has a passion for it, but is absolutely no help and is the most confusing professor I've ever had. Attendance isn't mandatory, which makes it impossible to bring yourself to go to class. Confusing and frustrating sum it all up.
okay everyone here has negative comments about dr. Baber. I would REALLY recommend taking this class. All the other logic classes spend the whole year on formal logic (proofs and stuff) and we spent half of the semester learning about cool stuff like esp and hallucinations and God and stuff. It was very much like a highschoolclass in hardness leve
Nice lady and quirky sense of humor but not very helpful in her explanations of the course: during class or office hours. If you think logic might be easy for you than give her a try, otherwise be prepared to work hard and struggle for decent grade.
She tries hard. Class is tought. First half is ok. second half with proofs is hard. takes a lot of studying time. not an awful teacher but I don't think it is her fault. I think the subject sucks! good luck with this one!!
The class is a joke. She tries and I do feel bad for her but overall someone that is not good at logic stands no chance in this class. Her lecture style is solely with power points and later on just notes. She doesn't assign homework which makes it hard to want to go to her class and her quizzes/tests are all truth false which in my opinion is hard
omg!worst class i have ever had in my life and i have had some bad ones.even phil majors in the class lost an bored out of their mind!i do give her props for not making us buy a textbook and loving what she does, but she should not teach.she tries and is very nice but omg!! just dont take the class, if its for logic take jones-hes amazing
She is a horrible teacher. She seems like a cool person outside of class, however, she doesn't even understand how to do logic proofs and certainly cant teach it.
Whack.. my GPA is wrecked yo. Chick doesn't know wtf she's talking about. I am at an utter disadvantage for taking this class and not switching to an easier professor. Peace out Duke law school, what up Thomas Jefferson
This lady is out of her mind. She is a confused teacher who has no idea how to teach. Stay away from her she will ruin your GPA as she did mine. Hopefully she figures out someday that her students are not logic pros. The University needs to realize that this GE is pointless and get rid of this class.
Don't take this class if you're a freshman and want to get logic out of the way. she is by far the wort professor you can ever have. talks in a monotone and puts you to sleep. quizzes every thursday are stupid and she doesn't teach. It's easy if you study since quizzes in the beginning are true false. but if you dont DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS
Worst class I have taken at USD. Her teaching style is confusing and teaches material not requited of other logic professors. Even when you try to ask for help, she still has a confusing way of explaining the material. Do NOT take this class, take another professor.
I took Baber for Logic & Analytic Philosophy. Yeah, the classes are a bit boring & sometimes difficult to understand, but if you go to her for help she'll really do anything to help you out. If you don't get something she'll keep explaining. If you're worried about your grade, she'll take that into account. She gives you what you need to know too.
Baber is not the best at explaining things. The first part of the year is easy. The second part is harder. Quizzes every week, drops the lowest of each half of semester. Grade is quizzes+midterm+final/3. If you're someone who is good at logic, then go for it, otherwise I would try to find a better teacher.
Baber was awesome! She has this confidence in the subject and explains everything really nicely through her very interesting powerpoints. :)
Baber is absolutely the worst professor/teacher i have ever had in my entire career as a student. Was assigned her my first semester of freshman year, and didnt know anything about withdrawing. She sucks at teaching! Her final was impossible.. no one finished! Recieved my first C and it will haunt my GPA for the rest of college.. by by law school!
Worst class I've ever taken at USD. I needed it as a philosophy major and I have regretted taking it. She is nice and has good intentions, but her tests are ridiculously hard and she is horrible at explaining herself. I sat there confused most of the time, and I'm a phil major! Not to mention her tests are purposely tricky. Don't take her!
PLEASE...I am urging you to rethink taking this with a different professor. This class was the first C i have ever gotten in my life. Easily the worst professor here.
Baber puts all her powerpoints online with all the details. She gives you study guides with exactly what's going to be on the test. She goes over everything before the quiz and drops 2 per semester, so you don't need to study until proofs. As long as you go to every class, this class is easy. If you skip or text the whole time, you'll get a C.
I HIGHLY recommend NOT taking this class if you are trying to just get the CORE requirements out of the way! I am just finishing up this class as a freshmen, and I have never worked so hard for a C. She is a sweet lady, but totally unclear when teaching and her office hours made me even more confused!
DO NOT TAKE. She is very confusing and tests and quizzes are ridiculously difficult. Means well but get out of this class if possible!
Not very clear in class. No homework at all! Quizzes once a week that are easy if you do the reading. Tests are pretty simple if you understand the concepts.
WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN!!! DO NOT TAKE!!!!!
Dr. Baber is one of my favorite professors at USD. Although some people have had a tough time, she is the SWEETEST lady and she is ALWAYS there for you. To get an A, all you have to do is try. Her heart is golden and she would do anything for her students. I highly recommend everyone to take her class.
Super sweet and awesome lady! Really recommend taking her
This was probably one of my favorite classes. Dr. Baber is the sweetest and smartest woman that i have had the pleasure to learn from. She goes above and beyond to help her students. I would highly reccomend taking this class with her. Some of the lectures may seem dull but she does her best to keep the class engaged.
Dr. Baber is not at all helpful during class time. Her lectures are long, confusing in boring. BUT! Once I started going to office hours my perspective of her completely changed. She tells you exactly what you need to know and helps you so much with the material! I started skipping class on non-quiz days and just went to her office hours instead.
Flexible on attendance within her sections, so don't be afraid of the early morning class if the other is full. Everything you need to pass is on her website. I didn't buy Hurley. Weekly quizzes a fair trade for no HW. If you go to class and read, easy A. If you do one but not the other, maybe B or C. Grades on a curve.
This is literally the hardest class I've taken. The grade breakdown is one midterm, quizzes, and final. No homework. Attendance is not mandatory, but every thursday there is quiz. The quizzes are difficult. She is very unclear and repeats herself. She is funny, but it's very hard to understand what is happening when she does the proofs.
I loved Babers class! She's hilarious and is so helpful in office hours :) Definitely would recommend. A lot of the people who struggle in her class don't put in a lot of effort. It's a medium difficulty class but the professor is awesome
Really nice lady and not that hard of a class. Show up, pay a little attention, and study for the quizzes. You'll be fine
I personally struggled a lot more in the first half of the semester because the material is all based on Dr. B's personal book that she wrote. The second half is more straight-forward because it's all proofs. Tests and quizzes are pretty much fair. Not the easiest logic professor to take, but Baber is such a sweet lady and will help if you ask.
Horrendous teacher. Flys through every slide, never actually explains the information. In her own little world and refuses to change her ways to make learning easier for her students. Quizzes are trick questions and she does an awful job explaining prior to test days. Might be the worst teacher at USD. Brutal.
Dr. Baber was a nice lady, but not a good teacher. Course material was too hard and confusing for her not to teach better. She rushed through slides and it made learning the material impossible. I always went to class, did the homework, and even got a tutor at the end of the semester and still struggled.
The only graded things in this class are two tests and a final paper. Lectures are not mandatory, and she goes on extreme tangents so going to class is honestly a waste of time. I never went to class, but the study guides were thorough enough that I could do okay on the tests, and since everyone did poorly the curve was very high. Relatively easy A
One of the worst professors i have had. Theres no point to this class she doesnt have an attendance policy, just show up on exam day and get the study guides online. She doesnt explain herself at all and talks about random stuff office hours or in email. I emailed her asking for help and she did the complete opposite, in a way that no prof should.
Only two exams and a paper. I did the readings and went to class every day before the first test and scored at the top of the curve. Didn't do any readings and skipped classes before the second test and still scored at the top of the curve. Just pay attention to the study guides and write about a topic she really likes and you'll be fine.
She doesn't really teach or help much in office hours. It's only based off tests and mainly a teach yourself course. Can't believe at this school we really pay thousands to teach ourselves.
The professor's lectures were as useful as the slides, not very. The subject itself is more confusing for it's own good, so I would not recommend the subject rather than the professor. The professor curves on a grade because the content is so incomprehensible to understand.
Confusing subject. Dr. Baber is smart but unfortunately I almost the whole class would leave just as confused when they came in. Office hours help. Very manageable to pass if you are willing to do a lot of self-teaching!
entire grade based on 2 tests (30%) each and one essay (40%). Lectures and powerpoints make absolutely NO sense and attendance is not mandatory at all. I genuinely thought I was taking a foreign language while listening to her lecture. Tests are extremely difficult and the only way I did well on the second was by studying the worksheets she posts.
Confusing lectures. Confusing subject. However, an easy pass if you are willing to go to her office hours. She genuinely does care! It is quite a complex subject.
Hard subject but she is very accessible and willing to explain. Even with office hours it can still be a tough subject to grasp. Self-teaching course but easy pass.
Professor Baber is very smart but sometimes hard to understand in lecture. I don't think it's necessarily her fault as logic is an abstract concept to begin with, but be mindful of that. She curves very generously and offers lots of help even on the day of quizzes and tests. Quizzes every week, which is annoying but also a potential grade boost.
Dr. Baber is very passionate about philosophy. It's definitely not my thing but her lecture slides to helped me try to understand the material. She offers good feedback in office hours. Her exams were only multiple choice but they were tough. The final is an essay. Offers extra credit after each lesson which I fully recommend completing all of them
Do not take Logic. Baber is nice, and in office hours very helpful, but this class is extremely difficult. Logic is another language, with its own alphabet, and is like learning a foreign language. quizzes each week + midterm+ final are your whole grade, no other assignments. Trust you do NOT want to take this class. Baber is nice but confusing.
If you have the option to take a regular math class over taking logic, take math... She is so nice and will truly try to see you succeed but the material is very difficult. You must attend class and read the book and her powerpoints to try to keep up. Don't stress if you have to take her, she will help you but you need to put in the effort too.
I love this woman. She wants you to succeed and she's clear about what you will be tested on. You're given a quiz every week but there's extra credit on almost everyone including the midterm and final. She may seem a little all over the place in class but she's helpful so take advantage of office hours or ask questions in class if you're confused.
I loved her. She's so funny and easy. She'll help you if you actually show up and show that you care.
I loved Baber she is very nice and a little confusing but very passionate
Just DONT take her, you will have to teach yourself the entire course material. She is a super great lady but her lectures make absolutely zero sense and she doesn't have the ability to answer student questions in a way that anyone understands. Out of all classes I have taken at USD (grad student now), this was by far the worst and hardest.
Baber is helpful, but Logic is a tough subject. Do the work - attend class, read the textbook, and use resources like unstuck AI for extra practice. Generous curves make it manageable with effort.
Dr. Baber is like a mad scientist. It's extremely difficult to understand her, but its obvious that she is genius. You WILL be teaching yourself the whole semester... Her quizzes can be challenging, but she gives out so much extra credit because so many people don't do well. She is just a character. Highly don't recommend her for logic.
Dr. Baber is a very knowledgeable woman, but she poorly conveys her knowledge to students when teaching. You must teach yourself the lessons to do well. She does care about her students and wants them to succeed. If you ask a question, she will respond with a long and confusing answer, leaving you even more bewildered than you were before you asked
She is nice but cannot teach. She speeds through the powerpoint too quickly and does not explain examples very well when she does them on the board, often speeding through examples and the powerpoint. Does not do enough examples or explain things adequately, expects self teaching. I repeat, she cannot teach at all. She doesn't know how
