Uses different methods to lecture in order to make sure u get the material. Will respond to question through e-mail and text message. Lectures are easy and if you ask he will go over the previous lecture if you did not get the material. Homework is turned in for extra credit and he does not give too much homework.
Amazing instructor! He makes sure that everyone understands the material. Hes very approachable and funny too.
Very approachable and welcoming. He was always available for office hours when anybody had a question or needed a concept to be explained further. He even conducted mini-lectures/study sessions outside of his normal office hours.. Ask him a question related to math and watch him provide a thorough answer every time---he definitely knows his maths.
Professor Petrovic is an amazing and talented professor who really cares about your learning. He wants you to excel in math, and is very passionate about it himself and it shows. He has very thorough lectures, does a ton of examples, and answers any question in a heartbeat. Exams are exactly like what he does in class.
Has odd exams and quizzes that can be either really hard or really easy. He assigns a lot of homework but at least it covers a lot of ground rather than be simply repetitive. In addition, he only grades portions of the homework, so youre not forced to do all of it if youre lucky. Lectures are pretty solid and in depth.
The grade is hard and the homework requires you to be consistently working, but you're compensated by a professor that genuinely works hard and tries to help you learn the material. Wish there were more like him!
Definitely a rough professor at first, but i improved as i got used to him His homework amounts to a lot in quantity, but its broken up well, to where often it was less than the schedule. The tests were managable, but could be rough. Most importantly, he was forgiving on incomplete work, and tests.
Funny and relatable, knowledgeable. He's from Croatia; accent takes a little bit getting used to; is understandable when he speaks. He's a good teacher, available for office hours. Encourages people to ask him for help. He will make accommodations if class isn't doing well. If you're not fast pace learner, don't take more than 3 classes w/ Math.
Would suggest taking this course with another unless you're an independent learner. Exams are NOT multiple choice, homework is online, no class participation whatsoever, and speeds through the chapters so the only time you ever practice problems is at home when doing homework.
Dr. Petrovic is an exceptional instructor. He is very passionate about math and he genuinely cares about the success of his students. I really enjoyed attending his lectures. He will take students a long way if they're willing to put the work in.
Took this professor for Math 116. He is a very knowledgeable guy and genuinely wants you to succeed. He is a little hard on his students and has a dry sense of humor but you learn to deal with it. An easy A if you do the homework, sit through the lectures, and study for the tests.
Dr. Petrovic wants his students to succeed and is very accessible during office hrs and through email. Class consists of working through problems, which can get pretty boring. He gives partial points in exams and HW, which really helps! Before exams, he reviews the chaptersa nd answers questions. He has an accent but its understandable
He makes himself available to students outside of class. He will stop and ask if anyone does not understand the lecture. Ask for help and make sure to go to the math center
Professor Petrovic is amazing if you really want to learn Math. He goes through every single thing assuring the students understand all of it. Very accessible, clear, and organized. He teaches you where formulas come from, and how to truly understand math and the logic behind it. If you are not motivated, it could seem boring. would 100% take again
Dr. Petrovic is one of the best professors I had. He's very knowledgeable and he truly cares about his students and their success.
Dont take his class. Very poor grading, doesn't explain too much and docks points from exams if you don't label steps the way he wants you too, everyone I know has failed his class. Doesn't put into consideration his students needs and life outside of class, wants his class to be "number one priority", during a pandemic.
A horrible person/professor. Doesn't explain how he wants your work to look, but docks points if it's not shown in his way. Exams had 4-6 questions. Doesn't care about his students lives or the pandemic and expects you to prioritize his class over everything. Acts on emotion instead of being professional. Took entire semester to grade 2/3 exams.
I took a summer class with Professor Petrovic. His Zoom sessions helped master the material. He's the best professor I've had so far. Truly inspirational!
The toughest grader Ive ever seen in my life! tests are extremely difficult and if he doesnt like the method of your answer EVEN IF U GOT THE RIGHT ANSWER hell either write why? On your paper and dock points or hell straight up give u a zero! Hes not accessible at all whatsoever and he makes calculus 100x harder than it already is!
I loved his lectures. He's an amazing instructor and very caring.
EXTREME amount of HW, would give zero points if you did work differently than what he wanted, even if answer was correct. Wasn't interested in if we showed comprehension. Did entire zoom lectures during his office hour times, w/o telling people, but refused to record them. Learned everything alone. Most stressful semester of my life. DO NOT TAKE.
He's the best! I highly recommend everyone to take his class.
Would give a 0 if I could. By far the worst professor I have ever had. Didn't teach a single thing, had to teach myself all the coursework since he refused to record the zoom meetings. Refused to curve any tests even though all the averages were failing. Again one of the worst professors I've had, DON'T TAKE IF YOU WANT A SHOT AT PASSING THE CLASS!
Great professor, hard class. Doing Math150 online in 8 weeks is no joke. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know that it would be hard, really hard. I don't get all these negative reviews, you knew the class was going to be challenging. At the end of the day you signed up for it. Anyways, take Dr. Petrovic if you really want to learn math.
I don't understand why people are blaming Professor Petrovic for their failure. He's really an amazing professor who made himself available outside his office hours to help students with HW problems, practice exam problems etc. He was very clear and asked for precision. Hello! It's Calculus! What else do you expect??? He's the best! Take his class!
only thing that really messed a lot of people up was the policy on the final. you could have an A in the class, but if you get lower than 57 on the final (which was more difficult than the regular exams) you automatically fail the class. it sucked bc i would have ended with a B (even w the final in the grade)but bc i missed half a question I failed
Dr. Petrovic is amazing! Take his class!
I took Dr. Petrovic's Math 150 class in the summer. His consistent Zoom class sessions helped me understand the material. In addition, he posted detailed organized lectures, practice exams, and solutions to each practice exam, and frequent announcements in Canvas. He was very responsive via e-mail as well. I would definitely take him again!
Dr. Petrovic is great! His Zoom office hours helped succeed. Its amazing to see him solve problems. Hes very knowledgeable. I highly recommend everyone who needs to take calc to take it with him.
Professor Petrovic is amazing. He makes everything look so easy. For the first time in my life I actually understand math and it's all because of him. He gives me confidence that I will succeed. I'll be taking every Math class with him.
I dont know where all of the good reviews are coming from, he was the worst professor Ive ever had. I had to retake calculus with a different professor, and now Im getting all As on exams because Im actually being taught.
The best professor I've ever had. I am amazed at how knowledgeable this guy is. Take his class if you want to learn Calculus. As I said it, he's the best.
Professor Petrovic is great! I don't get these bad reviews and comments. I can't even remember how many times the professor stayed on Zoom with us explaining everything and making sure we got the concepts. He went far and beyond to help us succeed. Bad things that some people say about him are just not true.
Professor Petrovic is great! I am so happy that I am taking Math 96 with him. For the first time I am doing well in a math class, and it's thanks to him, his support, and his positive attitude that I can do it. I highly recommend everyone to take his class. He's amazing!
I took Math 150 with Professor Petrovic this summer. It was a hard class, but that was only because it was an 8-week course. He's very knowledgeable and you can tell he knows his math. His explanations were very clear and his notes were a huge help for tests. He would post notes after every Zoom session. Comments that he wasn't teaching are lies.
Professor Petrovic is the best! He's very caring and wants everyone to do well.
Dr. Petrovic is AMAZING! I don't get bitter comments by students who obviously didn't do well. Guys chill! Hahaha He is the best professor I've ever had and very knowledgeable. Take his class! You'll actually learn things with comprehension. Again, he is THE BEST!
Ive seen this professor patiently going back to previous sections just to make sure one single student question was cleared. Shares his notes after each lecture. Very organized. He uses MyMathLab(Great tool), and yes lots of graded homework, which honestly you would have to do anyways, math is practice. Glad at least we can get points practicing.
Professor Petrovic is one of the best professors I've had so far. Very organized, knowledgeable, and always available to help. For the first time in my life, I enjoy Math, and it's all thanks to him. I highly recommend him!
Professor petrovic is the best math teacher I have ever had, he is extremely caring and patient and only wants all his students to succeed. He explains each topic clearly and will continuously ask if everyone understands, and will continue to explain until you get it. 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Petrovic is simply the best. I highly recommend everyone to take his class.
With classes being all online, Professor Petrovic makes learning simple through use of Hawkes Learning System. He does weekly online lectures, which are not mandatory, but can be helpful. His grading criteria is outlined clearly, with homework each week, a few quizzes, and exams requiring Respondus and cameras on facing you as you take the exam.
Professor Petrovic is amazing! For the first time in my life I enjoy doing Math and its all because of him. He presents the material in such a easy-to-understand and clear way. And he is very organized. The best professor ever!
Dr. Petrovic is an amazing professor who cares and supports his students. His lectures are very easy to follow. Hes also very organized and posts detailed notes after every lecture. I am taking every math class with him.
Professor Petrovic is very caring and supportive. I love his teaching. He is very organized and he posts his notes after every lecture. I would highly recommend him. Hes great.
I have only one word to describe this professor - AMAZING! I cant believe that I am saying this, a hard core math hater, but I kinda enjoy Calculus because of him. Hes the best professor Ive ever had.
Dr. Petrovic's teaching style and his positive energy are what made his Math 151 class so enjoyable. I learned a lot from him. He is, as other people have already mentioned here, an amazing professor. I would recommend him 10/10.
His math class was awesome, its clean cut and dry and up to you to grasp the material. Lectures are super helpful and he is great about answering questions. The course used Pearson for videos, the textbook, homework, tests and basically everything youd need. Ive got nothing but good things to say, and will try to take his courses again!
Professor Petrovic is awesome. It is a pure joy to watch this guy teach: super knowledgeable, to the point, and fun. I enjoy his classes and I am planning on taking my next math class with him. I recommend him 100%.
Dr. Petrovic is, as other reviewers indicated, amazing. His lectures are very clear with tons of examples. He is so organized and his notes are the best. I am taking all of my classes with him. I highly recommend taking a class with this professor.
Dr. Petrovic is one of the best professors I have had. He gives you every opportunity to succeed in his class. He loves math and gets excited about it and really cares about whether you understand and succeed. You have unlimited chances on practice exams (including practice final) and the real exams mirror the practice exams just different numbers.
Professor Petrovic is the best. He's amazing at explaining concepts. Also, his notes are one of the best notes I've ever seen. I highly recommend him.
He gives very good notes on every section, something that is absolutely needed for online math classes. I just really dislike how heavy the final is (20%)
He is awesome professor. he is teaching perfect. kind of a lot homework but easy to do, quizzes are from homework and easy, test are very easy if you practice on pretest before exam. I will take him again.
Dr. Petrovic is a gem of San Diego City College. I am so happy that I was recommended to take his class. It was one of the best decisions I made. He explains the material in a way that is very clear to me. I highly recommend him.
The best professor ever. I highly recommend everyone to take a class with him.
Dr. Petrovic is the best. I am so glad I took his class. Hes very organized and his lectures are amazing.
I have made a great decision by taking Dr. Petrovics class. Hes truly inspirational and his lectures are amazing.
Prof Petrovic makes Calc 2 (which is no joke) totally understandable. Lots of HW, but provides amazing notes on how to get to the answers. He is super respectful and cares deeply about his students. Two exams and one final proctored. Quizzes and HW are online. Every problem from the HW and study guides are on the quizzes and tests. Take him!
This professor uses the Hawkes Learning program. In order to be successful in this class, you NEED to do your HW. This is extremely important because the homework problems will show up on your exams (just different numbers). He really wants you to understand the concepts in each section. He also provides amazing notes to help you with the HW probs
Summer '22. Used Hawkes, easy to navigate, gives many extra cred opportunities. Must do the hw if you want to do well. Super helpful, accessible via email, loves his dog, 5-minute breaks every hour-ish. Quizzes + 2 tests + 1 final are very doable if you study the units. Manage + space your hw time well, can get away w 1 section per day.
Dr. Petrovic is an outstanding professor. I took calc 2 with him after taking calc 1 over 6 years ago. He will work with your schedule to meet, if you are not available during his office hours. His study sheets were extremely detailed and gave clear guidance for problems. If you do the homework, then you will do well on quizzes/exams.
Honestly the best math professor I've ever had. Differential eq is the hardest lower-div math class and last in the math series for engineering majors, but his passion for the subject and style of teaching was so great I was genuinely interested in the topics all semester. Wish there were more stem professors like him bc there's so few, esp at 4yrs
Best math professor I've ever had. He awakened my love for algebra. Super organized and manages time efficiently. Funny and a great caring person, accessible outside of class. Exams are based off of homework, practice exams are very similar to actual exams; super helpful, learned a lot.
He portraits to be a caring professor, but talks about the American education being different from his country. Multiple times he basically said how we were lazy because we didnt want to do the work, just be given the answers.
What can one say about Dr. Petrovic that hasn't been mentioned already? He's a lovely and caring person who is ALWAYS ready to help is students. He's well organized, and his detailed solutions notes greatly help me study. Falsehoods some students are spreading are not cool. Don't lie if you are bitter about your failing grade. I recommend him 10/10
The professor is kind and lectures were interesting, but the quizzes/midterm were much harder than what we were doing on homework & practice exam. The class average for the midterm was around 30% and we were told it wasn't going to be curved. Others have said practice exams would be similar to actual exams but I did not have that experience at all.
Dr. Petrovic is amazing. He provided a study guide, and problems on the exam were similar to the study guide questions, different numbers or one-two problems on a study guide were combined in one on the actual test. He allows extra credit so that everyone can make up for lost points. His lectures are excellent and the highlight of every MW of mine.
Professor Petrovic gives amazing lectures and breaks it down to where you're able to understand it versus just reading it out of a textbook by yourself or trying to watch on online video teaching the lessons. He also shows you different ways of solving a problem but tries to teach you a way that'll be useful for future math classes.
difficult course. behind whole semester. very knowledgeable, willing to answer questions. only graded on 5 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. not many opportunities to demonstrate mastery of the material. unclear feedback on assignments, if any, graded very late (after taking final i am still waiting on 2/5 quiz scores). assigns optional hw from textbook.
Professor Petrovic is a really nice person. But throughout the semester he lags communication. Lots of HW directly from textbooks and you check answer in the back. Can't get him to respond email regarding hw help at all. Hw is not mandatory. BUT it does go on your exams.
Unpreparred for lectures. Did not cover half of the syllabus and told the students to learn it after the class. Posted 350+ homework problems 5 days before the final. Final was 35% of total grade. Told students final was cummulative, but it only covered last 2 weeks. No curve. Quote from a lecture, "I am a doctor and you are just students."
Dr Petrovic is a great professor, unlike some of my classmates, I did really well in his class, that is because I asked questions(was only me), and did all the HWs. He is extremely fair, when he saw that students struggle on the midterm, he offered a retake! with extra credit! and an 10% extra credit at the end. Do the HWs you be fine on the exam.
Dr. Petrovic is a great professor if you are willing to do you part as a student. Stay on top of homework problems and ask any questions as he is willing to answer them. The course was difficult, but he was ultimately a very reasonable professor, offering a midterm retake and extra credit at the end of the semester. Nice, intelligent, approachable.
If you want an easy online Calc 3, take this class. You'll need to put in extra work to understand the concepts. The professor doesn't actually do any work as the lectures and homework are from a company. Also he's quite bad responding, I had to fly to SD to take the midterm because he didn't sent it to my proctoring center in time.
Dr. Petrovic is an outstanding professor. He was consistently available to assist students and dedicated extra time beyond office hours to clarify any material. His lecture notes were excellent, so ignore the misleading comments from some less capable students. He also curved all our assessments to improve our grades. I highly recommend him 10/10!
Professor Petrovic is kind and genuinely cares about his students, and is always there to provide assistance. Please don't believe the false claims made by a few disrespectful students about him. Furthermore, while it was a tough course, the professor was consistently available to help us and adjusted our scores. Take his class.
Dr. Petrovic is, without a doubt, outstanding. His study guides were incredibly useful for exam preparation. He is kind, intelligent, and genuinely committed to helping students succeed. However, it's essential to put in your effort as well. I highly recommend him and look forward to taking Math 150/151/252/255 with him.
Dr. Petrovic is incredibly caring and kind. His lectures are fascinating, and it's evident that he knows his material inside out. I highly recommend him! You'll need to put in the effort, but he is one of the best.
Dr. Petrovic delivers fantastic lectures. He is the only professor I truly understand. He is also very approachable and kind. You'll need to work hard, but he will help you succeed. I really don't understand some of the negative comments that other students write about him. Perhaps they were expecting an easy way through the course. He's the best!
Professor Petrovic is very kind and caring. He always welcomes questions and is ready to help his students. Calculus III is a challenging class, so be prepared to put in the work. His notes are exceptional, and it is clear that he is well-prepared and knowledgeable in mathematics.
Professor Petrovic is honestly the best math teacher I have had in my academic career, especially since I had struggled with math. He makes the class feel comfortable bringing up any confusion about the problems we work on, does not try to trick you on the tests, and actually cares about the success of his students.
He assigns homework every single week (including exam & finals weeks). He doesn't teach at all, he just makes you purchase a $100 online textbook with poorly made lecture videos. His tests don't match what you learn in those lecture videos, he gives a study guide but he always makes the tests harder than it. Terrible, low effort teacher. Bad class.
Dr. Petrovic is amazing professor, and the comment below me a pure fiction. His class was a fully online, so clearly he did not lecture. Additionally, students performed well in his class; according to his announcements, the overall average is 83%, which indicates he must be doing something right. His study guides align with the actual tests.
Prof. Petrovic is the best! He is always ready to help his students, and his office hours were very helpful. The comment below that he does nothing is a lie. Why are you complaining if you got A+?! Last time I checked, they don't give +/- at City. Yet another lie! He is a cool guy! Take his class!
The online software/textbook did not have the best lecture videos or examples that aligned with the homework and exams. I primarily relied on watching YouTube videos, such as Professor Leonard which I believe was a big factor on why I did well. Other than that, he did provide good feedback if you went in person to his office hours.
Dr. Petrovic is amazing! Be sure to attend his office hours. He has a talent for simplifying complex mathematical concepts, making them easy to understand. He's also a really nice and kind person overall.
Late return for assignment-go see him after quiz before tests! Pretty good online lecturer; office hours... my gripe was just the late return..everything else was pretty solid as far as a course. Couldnt find the book just rented an older edition from the library.
Professor Petrovic is really a great instructor. He's always willing to help his students. If you're struggling with something from class, definitely visit his office hours. He genuinely cares about our understanding and explains the material clearly. Just keep in mind that Calculus III can be quite challenging.
Petrovic is the GOAT who can make a high grade in a very challenging math class feel so possible. For some context, I am not a math guy. I am very much a "social sciences guy" who dreaded taking Calculus 3. Yes, this class is hard. But as long as you give this class the time it needs, even a non-mathy person like me can do well. You got this!
Great professor! A bit hectic toward the end of the semester (which is understandable for a Calc 3 class), but he genuinely cares about his students and their success. He's approachable and clearly wants everyone to understand the material. His grading policy is very lenient, with lots of partial credit on exams. Best math professor I've taken!!!
Great teacher. Had things going on personally last 3 weeks of the semester, so our familiarity with Green's, Stokes' (😭), surface integrals was VERY rushed. That said, he was extremely understanding prior to/after the final (and throughout the full semester, office hours, etc). He was very accessible, and I look forward to MATH255 w/ him.
