Very hard. Don't even think about asking for help unless you want to hide under a rock. Be prepared to study atleast 2hrs a night. I was an "A" student until his class.
Deameans his students, telling them they are the bottom of the barrel at a useless establishment-HCC.His text he wrote for the course is filled with grammar + spelling mistakes and chemistry is poorly explained. He is an illiterate bottom of the barrel PhD
This teacher must have been “bullied” on the school bus as a youth. Now that he’s a teacher it seems that it’s ‘pay-back time’ for any unfortunate to sit his class. He seems to enjoy mocking, berating and belittling anyone who asks a question. He seems
He expects you to retain EVERYTHING you've learned from chm1045 and all the previous chem classes in the past also. His classnotes are very unclear because he skips steps in the solution process which hinders some people from understanding his notes.
NEVER TAKE HIM
I didn't understand a word from him.The book was more helpful!Doesn't go over tests.Do not take any classes with him.He insults the class all the time.Says everyone should switch to mass comm.!If he thinks hcc is such a bad place why is he teacher there&#
Dr.Wolfe is the worst proffesor I have ever had at HCC. He example why tenure is a bad idea. He should teach his class not insult it.
this man is the DEVIL. It only takes a "c" to have a PhD and i think he was definitly a "c" student because he cannot teach worth a crap. Before the exam date he threatened the class that no one will make an A, after the exam i had a B
Worst teacher ever. After I asked a simple question he made fun of me in front of the class. I walked out of the lab crying and ended up dropping the class. On my way out I heard other students asking the same question. He shouldnt be teaching anywhere.
Very smart about the world, unlike most blind and ignorant Floridians.
never take him if you want to succeed
Drew Wolfe is an ****. This guy totally crapped on HCC. He said that HCC was the lowest of the low. Why are u teaching there MR.PHD??? I guess only the lowest of the low would hire you. I think he's not getting any ass or something.
PEOPLE! This sadist was run out of USF for doing the same thing there! We should rally against him and have him removed! The only good thing said about him sounds suspiciously like his own words!
This class is for those who would like to experience a university level class. People, you will not be babied when you go on! I got a C in the class and I failed the lab, but I learned valuable lessons about time management.
Dr. Wolfe knows his stuff, however, he has absolutely no respect for his students and does not create an effective learning environment.
28 students signed up for the class and only four were left after the withdrawal date. I have 72 hours of classes and Dr. Wolfe is by far the hardest teacher I've had. TAKE SOME ONE ELSE FOR CHEMISTRY!!!!!
This guy knows chemistry thats for sure. He is an excellent teacher in lecture but his lab is like torture chamber. He is a little cocky but hey he does know his stuff and that is rare at any school. Hard but u will learn thats for sure.
This guy is the worst teacher I ever had.I am a straight A student but it was extremely hard for me to pass his class. He will not explain anything after the class, and in the class if you have any questions he will say "We are running out of time".Exams are real hard and his grading system is bad.
This guy is terrible. Don't bother, save your time and money! His books are full of errors and he is aweful teacher.
horrible , dispicable, and exhibits a "short-man" complex. enjoys demeaning students and peers.
arrogant, egotistical, pretentious. Happens to be the head of the chemistry department and wrote the text book and lab manual.
Pompous, arrogant, egotisitcal, unjust, pissed off at the world. And those are his good qualities!
He is a great professor. He gives you all of the test question in homework. If you do the homework you are guaranteed an A.He is fun to talk to if you are ready for intelligent conversation. I took him for 3 different levels of chemistry. He is great!! (If you are a real student)
Dr. Wolfe cares for the students that are just as arrogant as himself, which are very few. He has a prejudice against community college students, and yet he still works at HCC. Take this class if you want to be belittled for 2hrs.
Everything people have mentioned is true, but he does know his stuff. If you come to the class every meeting and do your homework you should do allright with his liberal grading scale.
If you want an easy A, look elsewhere. If you want to learn chemistry, and are a hard-working student, this is the guy to take. Test questions are from assigned homework. Very liberal grading scale. VERY TOUGH. If you stick it out you WILL learn the material.
This guy is the worst professor HCC has. 24 students started this class, after drop day only 8 left, at the end only 5 passed the class. Avoid him as much as you can, take CHM in another campus. Usually the hardest question on his test is #2 so you spend a lot of time trying to solve it and run out of time (sick mind). Run, run away from this guy.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Gives great notes, interesting lectures that I looked forward to, forces you to bust your A$$, but you're much better off for it. You come outta his class understanding things really well.A little condescending, yes, but a great professor who I would recommend anyone to take.He Got me interested in Chem.
TERRIBLE!!!!! STAY AWAY!!! STAY FAR AWAY!
This guy talked to me like I was a three year old and had me ready to blow up. I had to go down and speak to couselors to get removed from his class, but i would have dropped I hated him that much. Deadlines are non-negotiable, late papers not accepted. Granted, this is a college, but it is HCC after all... this guy acts like he is teaching at Harvard, and he is a dickhead in class, not so bad outside of class.
Could there be a worse professor than Wolfe? He moved so fast through lecture that nobody would have time to write down the problems he worked out. He constantly bragged about how at the beginning of every semester, his classes were full and by the end, there were never more than five. If you want a very long hard struggle, this is the guy.
he just don't have the touch to teach, he thinks all the students are chemists and he wants everyone to think like he does do not take him we have the power to stop his arrogancy. DO NOT BE PART OF IT!!
This has to be the worst teacher in the world. This guy thinks he teaches at some great university and that he is smarter than everyone else. he has an alright grading scale but that doesnt even help when every student makes below a 50 on all of his tests. Then after everyone has failed he tells us to not be so depressed of our bad grades.STAY AWAY
I can sum up this professor in two words: Napoleon Complex! He's a short man with a HUGE ego to make up for it. He talks down to you and makes you feel stupid. The best advice I can give is take either Dr. Manka or Dr. Rubini!!! You control this man's paycheck, don't sign up for his class!
If you do what Wolfe says, you will pass. All of the people who are failing in my class ignore the specific details he gives about his tests. Example:All of the test questions are assigned homework problems. If you don't pass, you didn't listen.
He thinks He's the one and only ,best Chm professor in the whole Universe.Suckiest Teaching method I ever had.very unfair.Very hard class.60% of the class W from his class. The rest of'em end up with a very bad great. Pick Dr.Rubini .He's great!!!
test are extremely hard, clarity of subject is to hard to understand especially in a modern chem class.
Only take this if you don't mind getting 6% on all tests and finishing with an F.This idiot isn't interested in teaching people. He loves the power of making people feel inferior and failing them. My guess is that he is impotent.
loves his red pen
DONT TAKE HIM. yes he is smart, but that does not make a person a good teacher. he wrote the 1025 book and is horrible; full of mistake. if he knows so much, he should at least learned how to spell. he got chicked out of USF, that tells it all. TAKE RUBINI!!!!!!!!! AT YBOR
DO NOT take him. If you can't register for another chem clas WAIT a semester more because you will FAILthis class for SURE!!!! He is the WORSTteacher ever thought in the Universum. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! He is useless and worthless!!!!Got kicked out of USF.Got an F and had to take it all over again in different College.
worst worst worst worst DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!VERY HARD youwill fail
TRUEHe is everything but a good teacher.Must have emotional problams, bringin them to class.TOTALLY selfish .you will fail for SURE. No escape. He is Evil.Loves to control the situation that you're grade is in his hand.test are impossible hard.you will get a D or lower(F).DO NOT EVEN DREAM ABOUT TAKING HIM.WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT SEMESTER TO SIGN UP the
this sum **** sux and ive only had em for 3 classes..my dumb ass forgot to look him up and now ima try 2 get out!!
Should move to Afghanistan since he hates the U.S.A.
Dr. Wolfe goes out of his way to make class difficult. He wrote the textbook, which is difficult enough to follow, and his notes and lecture only make it worse. He often complains that HCC is a low ranking school and that informs his class day 1 that they are not going to succeed. He is unapproachable, condescending and often insulting.
Very knowledgable about chemistry and a lot of different other topic. Personally, i have A in his class but still i don't recommand him to any one. He always has a bad attitude. He should encourage everybody to do better.
Dr. Wolfe may be a smart man, but not socially. He is unable to convey the topics to those who do not see things his way. On tests, you must answer the questions the way he wants them executed. Otherwise you will lose major points. One could understand the topic fully well, but will still fail his class. He's anti-america and everything else.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. What everyone says about him is true. I wish I knew about this site before I took his class. His tests are EXTREMELY HARD and have nothing to do with the notes he gives. He spends a lot of time talking about how horrible the US is and how great other countries are, so why is he still here?
please DONT TAKE HIM FOR ANY CLASS. HE IS BADDDDDD TEACHER. U WILL LEARN BUT WON'T GET A GOOD GRADE AS U SHOULD. DONT MAKE MISTAKE LIKE ME.
he wants you to fail!!!!!
He is one that since he knows this subject so well, he teaches it as if the class already knows it as well as he does. He isn't very helpful when asking questions..or at all for that matter! NOT recommended!! My class started with about 35 people & ended with maybe 6 and I think possibly ONE of those 6 passed the class...I got a D
Dr. Wolfe's lectures are interesting and informative. I looked forward to coming to his class every day. He really motivated me to learn the subject. I will register for the higher chem courses with him.
Unfair and degrading.
WORST teacher i ever had.1st day he tells you how smart he is and how dumb you are then reminds you everyday thereafter.he is pompous, egotistical, and rude.he will belittle you for a wrong answer in class and makes it unreasonably difficult.avoid him like the plague.he is the reason tenure is bad idea
Worst professor I have ever had. I never had to study so hard for a class and this was for the Introduction to chem. He goes through the material way too fast and makes you feel stupid
You are a fooooool! if you take chemistry with this guy. TERRIBLE TEACHER.
If you fail it's your own fault. You get what you put into this class. Homework for one chapter is equivelant to 6 pages front and back. And each test covers 3-4 chapters. So as long as you know all that PLUS his lecture notes, you're in good shape! Also, if you attend every day, he's easier on the grading scale.
Dr. Wolfe is a good professor. If you take him, prepare to buckle down. His class is not for the lazy, rather for the studious.
he is wonderful teacher. if you study his notes and book you can get A in class.
Worst teacher/professor I have ever had.Talks down to everyone and gets a kick out of makin u feel stupid.Dont ask question or u will be an example.U have to buy the book he wrote..shadey to me.Does not get out of his seat in Lab.Has numerous Pet peves that will get u a zero for the day. I am an A and B student and I cant deal with this guy.
Dr. Wolfe is very full of himself. He loves to make your tests bleed with red pen. I think he gets off on giving low scores. He counts off for spelling, even though his book has countless grammar/spelling errors. Very difficult teacher, esp. since I'm pre med, and not a chem major, which he seems to think everyone is.
PROF. WOLFE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER. HE THROWS HAVING TAUGHT FOR MANY YEARS IN YOUR FACE, SAYING HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING EVEN IF THE ENTIRE CLASS IS FAILING. HE DOES NOT HELP YOU CATCH UP ON ANYTHING EVEN IF YOU FAIL THE A TEST HE WILL SAY "O WELL, CATCH UP ON YOUR OWN, THE NEXT TEST IS HARDER" HE IS DEGRADING AND DOES NOT INSPIRE STUDENTS TO LEARN
I'm pre med, and a very good student. I wouldn't be mad if I didn't understand the material, but I did. And I failed. He loves to see his red pen allll over your paper. He wrote the book, but obviously didn't use spellcheck. Even though his use of the English lang is subpar, he will count you off for spelling. Stay far away. HE WANTS YOU TO FAIL
EVIL EVIL MAN! By far the worst CHM teacher. He's disliked by his colleagues and his students. He wants to be a bump in your road to success. Constantly reminds everyone how stupid they are and how smart he is. One CHM teacher left b/c he couldn't stand Wolfe. Calls himself the big bad wolf. Super lame. If you register, expect your GPA to suffer.
Some were just not meant to teach. I didn't hate the class, but i do have to agree with the other comments here. Explain to me how I got A's in 1045 & 1046 but a C in this guy's intro class! Organic chem in an intro class-good one,Dr. Wolfe! While he does know his stuff and some of his anecdotes are interesting, he just seems bored with it all.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! You will never pass his class.
He is nice teacher but little hard on test. Nobody in class got A. I got B and three tests and one minifinal so by taking minifinal you can replace you lowest grade. Study his notes and do the hw he told you to do.You will got and A.
His class was really useful for me.
His lectures are the best of any chem prof I've had. He explains things well, and I walk out thinking I understand everything. His tests are much harder than you would expect given what he focuses on in lecture. He does pull questions from the assigned homework problems, but they are the most complex-your notes and book do not help much with these.
not bad
the situation here is this guy is a prick. he loves to think hes the smartest guy on the planet when his acidemic life was subpar. he is a bad teacher and you can tell he got beat up alot when he was younger. so dont take your class unless you too are a nerd because then he might pitty you and pass. i got a b but had to fail another class to get it
His class may lower your GPA, but you'll be the most knowledgeable student in CHM-1. Take him seriously when he gives study guidelines. I suggest him to anyone going toward the Medical Field. If you cry over B's, stay away from this professor. On another note, he's quite hilarious if you catch his jokes.
I Loved the class, You need to do the homework (6 pages per ch.) and take copious notes. An a is not impossible but difficult. Will defiantly prepare you for future chem classes but may be tough on your gpa (I got a B). I don't consider myself that smart and got a B but I studied my butt off. His lectures are seamless, he really knows his stuff.
great teacher
Do not take this teacher, he's worst teacher ever and I even tried in his class!!He's arrogant and all of his tests are fill in the blank. Only the final is multiple choice. DONT TAKE HIM!! Better CHM teachers at Ybor campus.
Not a bad professor at all. He knows his stuff, especially b/c he wrote the book. But I would not recommend him if you cannot devote almost all your time to his class. I had a hard time giving time to his class b/c I was taking 19 credits. You need to do the homework to get a good grade on the test. He doesn't give much partial credit on his tests.
first off he is not an easy A. if u r a chem major u have to take him.he is real quality professor.knows his stuff.class is fun.if u pass him ur guaranteed to pass any other class.needs about 10 hours study before every test. alot of people will say how mean and tough he is, what they dont understand is that he is real university material.recommend
This professor is not good. For example, on a test he will take off partial points for not boxing in your answer, and spelling errors. He constantly belittles the institution which writes him a paycheck and has the nerve to call students at HCC mindless bags of water--give me a break!
He is freaking crazy..he thinks that he is the only one who knows how to teach...cuts ur points off for spelling...tries to be over smart...even though i got B i would not recommend this class to any one...DONT TAKE HIM...take either rubini or go to Brandon campus...STAY AWAY FROM WOLFE AND BUCKLEY
no he's not easy. yes he is crazy. but you learn the material. he drills it into your brain. DONT TAKE HIM if your lazy and want an easy A. TAKE HIM if you are actually interested in learning, whether youre a chem major or not... Im not and I enjoy his class, even though I know Ill make a C or D. I'll take away more than a grade.
Horrible. Got kicked out USF. He cannot teach.Pick Rubini he's awesome and have respect for you and he will teach you what you need to know.
OMG!WHAT IS HCC THINKING TO HAVE A PROF LIKE THIS.HIS ULTIMATE GOAL IS NOT TO TEACH IS TO MAKE EVERYONE THINK HE IS THE BEST AND KNOWS IT ALL.DONT BELIEVE IN GOD AND I HOPE HE DONT BELIEVE IN KARMA. OVERALL I WISH AND HEALTHY FUTURE...AND HOPE THAT HE UNDERSTANDS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF A PROF IS TO TEACH NOT TO FRUSTRATE STUDENTS
I took his class in spring/09. I thought his lecture was very interesting and helpful. All the test materials came from the lecture notes and the textbook he wrote. I got an A on this class because his grading system was >80%,A. It was pretty sweet. He is a great teacher. I would love to take his class again.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! he is a jerk! I don't really care that I am calling his this because I dropped his class quicker than a hotcake hits a plate. He really treats as though you are a complete idiot and really could care less about students needs. Don't take this class, he looks down upon his students.
Not an easy A class at all...but taking him will prep you very well for the remaining chem courses you need. Not fun while taking his course..but it pays off later!
He is the best teacher I have studied under. He may be bit pessimistic and blunt but this man is truly university material. If you want to stay on his good side, be passionate about science and tell him how you think pink floyd, led zeppelin, and black sabbath are the best bands yet. Wear a shirt that says pink floyd on it, he will love you.
Horrible teacher...He knows too much to teach....Try to take some one else...
Unbelievable experience.Strenuous.Good.Very tough, lots of memorization, university level.Hours of HW and studying to do well.Difficult exams.Partial credit.Pen and paper exams,no M/C.No mistakes can be made w/o penalty. You NEED him if you want to progress in Chem.Perfect for serious students who want a science profession. You're serious-he's nice.
One of the best proffesors I have had in my life. He really knows the material.
This professor is very rigid in his teaching & acts as if he is the lord?s gift to chemistry, Wolfe also has strong anti-Semitic remarks about the students in the U.S. who I might add are just as good or even better than any other student outside the U.S. For those who take his class you may think it may be conducive to take him because he wrote th
Hard class!!! He moves really fast and expects you to retain everything. Be prepared to study for at least 1-2 hrs EVERY night ALONG with the tons of hw he wants you to do. Don't take him!!!
It is a hard class. Take if you already know the material. Be prepared to work. Didn't like him at first, but he's actually a really nice guy. just a tough teacher, but I respect him. Grading is STRICT so beware.
He was a terrible teacher. I thought I was learning a lot when he lectured but the test results didn't show that. His grading is cruel and unusually punishment. I felt I died a little everytime I took a test. I studied and passed his class barely, but will never take him again. I wish I never had him to begin with.
The class and material is difficult but he does a great job at trying to convey the lesson. You will absolutely have to put in some serious study hours. Make sure to do ALL the homework and practice tests because most of the time they're the same exact questions on the exam. Tests are hard but a 65% is a B and a 50% is a C so if you actually want to learn chemistry then take Wolfe.
Im a cross enroll student from USF, and wolfe is the worst teacher ever. super hard grader. trust me. do not take this teacher. I have the solutions manual of the book. I did HW with the Sol.manual, and I pretty much memorize all the how problems. test is the same as the hw, but I still did reabad. he takes point off for no reason. don not take him
TRUST ME, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is the worst teacher you can take. he takes points off for no reason. take somebody else. the super best grade you can get is a B. I study btw 8-10 hours before test 1, and I got 24. for the second test I study almost 15 hours and i got 43. do not take him. Im really smart and my GPA is 3.87 at UF engineering
KICKED OUT OF USF. USELESS. Do not pay attention what he says.He will bring you down.DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR DREAM STUDYING CHEMISTRY.HE WILL DEFINITELY take it away if you let him.Just take another professor.Wasting your time, just wait until the next semester if there isn't any spots left anywhere. You will definitely wasting your money on this class.
marks off points for every little mistake, even grammar mistakes, when hes not an english teacher, doesnt give the whole class period to take exams, not very clear when he explains things, rushes through every topic, his method of teaching doesnt work for me,i study countless hours of things he just writes on the board, no help, getting a A way to hard
Rushes through every topic, doesn't give you time to learn and basically just doensn't teach correctly. Tells you what you need to know doesn't teach it to you and expects you to learn it on your own outside of class. thinks of his students as not being very intellegent and himself as the next einstien when actually he's a chemistry teacher at HCC
Self proclaimed genius who was kicked out of USF and teaches a freshman level course. Course is titled modern chemistry but makes remarks about how todays students are unintelligent compared to 100 years ago when he was in school. Avoid him at ALL costs!
He is my lab professor I have never gotten even a 40/50 on a lab even though i do everything. He marks off for EVERYTHING and can make people feel very stupid. Getting a 50% is like getting a C, but it's still almost impossible to get an A. I am just really hoping i get a B so my transcripts aren't ruined!
He acts like a soldier, not a teacher. He doesn't help you when you are weak, instead he kick you out of the class.Avoid this professor at any cost.It is better to skip the semester even if you don't have another choice.
I took two chem classes with him back in the mid 80's he was an amazing professor. Yes he was tough but he was good and he was always willing to go out of his way to help. Excellent textbook author, excellent teaching style. If you want to learn and your serious about Chemistry take Drew Wolfe!
KICKED OUT OF USF. USELESS. Do not pay attention what he says.He will bring you down.DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR DREAM STUDYING CHEMISTRY.He definitely takes it away if you let him.Just take another professor.Wasting your time, just wait until the next semester if there isn't any spots left anywhere. You will definitely wasting your money on this class.
Yes, he is hard and strict. He only wants his students to do his solving method to limit errors. It's not difficult to follow his instructions. Chemistry is my WORST subject and he made it clear. His test questions come out of the book's test review and the notes. If you show up everyday and work the assigned problems you will pass. I got an A.
If I got an A, you can too. His Chm-lab mirrors his class in topic as well as teaching method. He works his class to match the pace of the lab so you don't enter clueless. He answers questions if you ask them. He checks everything you put on the paper. Don't forget your units, sigfigs, and to answer labs in complete, grammatically correct English.
he is an excellent professor.study, do your homework and you will get an A
He is strict but he is by far the best chemistry professor I've ever had! People say he is rude but that is probably because theyr were rude first! He can be very nice and pleasant. When teaching he is very clear and easy to follow. I loved all the notes he gave and if you study those and do the homework, you will do well!
I took his CHEM class back in 2008 when I was a freshmen at HCC. Im now a grad student. Looking back, Dr. wolfe was a horrible professor. He intentionally designs tests to make you fail. I remember the first day of class he told us that we were all failures. He made sure all of us failed his first test. Avoid him at all costs.
YES, he is a tough grader. He takes points off for little issues. You will be lucky if you get an A. HOWEVER, these things help form the basis for good practices in chemistry. This class is all about the basics. If you participate and show interest, he will share his past. Ask about the sodium dumping. You MUST study.
