Tai Chi is a very easy and fun course. Professor is very nice and helpful.
He is very helpful and really makes sure you are understanding everything.
great teacher - fun class - you will enjoy it
was an awesome professor...very fun and helpful!
awesome teacher! very nice, fun class
I had Crider for both personal management and Tai Chi for self defence..He was awesome, and very helpful. I recommend him big time for Tai chi but for health he is not easy but he is not hard at all though.
aww hes soo nice! and knows his stuff!
More than grades, he wants to help you in life.
He is the man! This is a great man teaching ...you can learn lots from him.
Really nice guy and very helpful. One of my fav. profs i've ever had..def. recommend him! Activities in class are fun also
personal fitenss online was really easy and dr. crider is great. he's really nice, understanding and helpful! he doesn't just want to help you pass the course, but wants to really help you be healthy. great course & teacher!
A lot of fun in class. Very informative. Tests can be tricky because everything seems like common sense, but if you study from the book you'll be fine! Great prof!
This teacher helps you very much
Excellent teacher- excellent class. Very helpful.
Not clear on assignments or test review.
Kind of a boringish teacher, but very nice and helpful. Its hard to go to the class because you really don't do much in it. Tests are not very hard.. class kind of blah.
He's an ok teacher. I think the class can be rather boring many times though. I hated the fact that he doesnt give study guides for his tests, but a lot of questions are common sense. If you pay attention in class and study a little, you'll be fine.
Not clear on assignments or test review. Do not take him. His quizes are hard, the quiz was not in the book. I studied very hard got an F.
Seriously, who fails health? Everyone who takes his class.
he's awesome
Take another gym! its only one credit and you have to take 2 really hard tests! ((dance dosent have any tests!!))
Awesome Teacher, Very Helpful
Bad teacher if a choice. Purchased textbook never used, so waste of money. Assignments are not clear. Exams come from teacher's research, but students never get a copy. For a 2 credit course, too much is expected for a beginning course.
He is a great guy but horrible teacher. Lectures are all over the place and unclear on tests and assignments. Test are very difficult and no clear review. I advised someone else!
He does not explain assignments, they are not described on the syllabus either. You cannot even teach yourself the info b/c it isn't in the book. DO NOT TAKE HIM. Health is usually easy, but he just tells stories in class, and his tests are extemely difficult.
I took him for Tai Chi for Self Defense. Skills assessment was easy, but the quizes (who quizes in a gym class???) where hard. They must now count for very much cause I ended up with an A in the class and I got a 70 on the first quiz. OTher wise the class was easy
Kind, encouraging and non-judgmental. Fairly easy grader. However, he asks strange and subjective questions on quizzes. Some tai chi quiz material might come from his health class, which could be a problem if you're taking health with someone else.
go to the class right before exams... very helpful
don't take him! doesnt explain anything in class just tells you stories about who he's helped and who his friends are. expect to fail health if u take his class!
easy class, but SO repetitive it's annoying. you do the same thing everyday. the tests are IMPOSSIBLE (the final and midtern), i studied for hours and still failed. he's always willing to help, though.
just tells stories in class and what little info he does teach is repetitive and redundant. also wastes time with stupid in class group assignments that have nothing to do with anything. tests are tricky and difficult. i never missed a class, studied hard, and still got Cs on tests.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!Don't study your notes b/c it's not on the test.Questions on test are misleading.Doesn't prepare you for anything, always leaves you in teh dark.Reads old test questions but they won't help you at all.Grade for Crider = F!
I am in the online health course currently and the course needs to be completed tomorrow and he has graded only five tests. His requirements are stupid and he acts like it's a 3 credit course we are taking. He is so about organization and he needs to look in the mirror.
what he teaches in class isn't on the tests, it's allllll from the book, one test is on 200 pages and he makes them trick questions meant to trip you up. don't take him, save yourself and take someone else, trust me!!!
I dont know what problem some people have with him. I think they forget to tell you that they went to half of the classes, go to class, take notes, easy B, and if you do the behavior change and the presentation, should be an easy A.
there is a lot to learn in this 1 credit class. he is alright tough.i sucked as far as tai chi is concerned, but he appreciated my effort and presence.I got a B and was happy about it.This class will be easy for those who are good at dance or this type of activieties. enjoyed my time there overall :)
very fair and will assist you if needed
He was very understanding of my situation when i had class with him. He understood why i had to change my "goal" that we had to write in a journal about. I was very pleased with him.
He was very hard, not understanding about deadlines, took off points for assignments though there was no deadline, he gave me a B and I seriously tried as hard as I possibly could.
Avoid him. He lectures on nothing and his exams are extremely hard. He seems like a nice guy but he makes a class that should be an easy A impossible. Seriously... don't take him.
Horrible professor. Exams are way too hard. I studied a lot and barely have a C.
He didn't teach anything in his classes. He just tells stories the whole time. His tests are really hard. He gives assignments though to help your grade, but he still grades hard.
overall he wasnt a bad teacher..i took him for health..he puts alot of stress on the "behavior change project" he talks about it the whole semester..but i didnt even do it. his tests are really hard, but someone even failing the tests and not doing the project i got a "C".. hes a nice guy, likes class participation and answers ur questions
HORRIBLE! hes NEVER on time, talks about himself all class and expects you to teach yourself everything. tests are IMPOSSIBLE! gave us dangerous equipment w/o explination and then left the room. seems nice, but teaches nothing. IFTA 'certification' you receive IF you can pass is USELESS. no health club excepts it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!
The actual Tai Chi movements were easy, but there was nothing given in class for the midterm or final. Apparently, it's all in the book. I got an A without it, but was suprised. Everybody else said that all the information wasn't in the book, anyway. Attendence was too much of the grade.
Dr. Crider is a nice guy, but I wouldn't reccomend taking him for health. His tests don't really come from the material that he presents. I studied for a long time but still struggled with them. It should of been a class that was an easy A but as of right now I have a C.
Heck of a nice guy but class is impossible!...u can try studying but you'll fail even if u do that...all he does is tell stories during class too...doesnt cover any material...take someone else!!
Had Dr. Crider twice this semester and LOVED him! Of course attendance is mandatory for Tai Chi, how else are you going to learn the techniques. I'd love to take another Tai Chi course with Dr. Crider.
On line gym. Get your blood pressure down and you get a good grade. You really don't need Crider at all for this one.
Too hard of a class, I'm a good student and did terrible on the quizzes.
He's really nice and helpful, teaches a good Phys Ed class. You just have to put forth some effort, and you'll be fine.
Had to buy expensive health book for one credit gym class and take quizzes on nutrition and health. Already took health, so this added a lot of extra work to a one credit class.
took the online course and it was not as easy as i thought it would be. keep on top of the schedule and start the project on time and you should be ok.
He is way too obsessed with Tai Chi. He basically expects you to be at a professional level. The midterm was ridiculous and you had to read the entire book that he wrote. Take another class, it's not worth the effort.
The clickers he used sucked, and the class was way too boring to sit there for two hours straight. Take the two day class if you get a choice. Nice guy, grades with a curve, and adds in extra credit after the curve. Only 3 tests and a "behavior change assignment". Easy if you do the assignment, and show up. I reccomend him for this class.
I took tai chi for personal defense and loved it. You have to go to class because he expects you to know all the moves and be able to do them without thinking too much about it. Overall, he is reasonable and fair, but watch out for his tests- you have to read the book because they're on things you don't go over in class.
Crider is perfectly fine for Social Dance. The class doesn't involve too much as it is, and he doesnt overdo anything. Show up to class, and you will have no problem getting a good grade. If you get involved, you will have fun too.
i took tai chi and he takes it a little seriously. actually a lot seriously. i never missed a single class, and i got a bad grade bc i couldnt afford to buy another book so i did badly on the exams. remember to heel-toe!! its amazing how much he deducts points for such small mistakes.
Incredibly great teacher! Loved how he related what was being taught to real life experiences. Smoking hot body, too!
He's a nice guy, and he knows his stuff, but his notes don't really flow. It's easier to just read his powerpoints online. Most of the information is common knowledge, but he makes a lot of trick questions. He isn't very clear in what he's saying a lot of the time, but he seems like a nice guy, and it's not a hard class. The iclicker is unnecessary
Quite possibly my least favorite professor I've ever had. Consistently would ramble and never taught useful information. I went into this class expecting to learn about a field that could be of use. Instead I left with little to no useful information. Don't bother taking a Crider class as you'll learn more about him then the course information.
Don't buy the book, not worth it. Pretty decent class just show up and pay attention and you'll do fine. Journals are %10 of your grade I think and they help for people who arent good with tests. Class isn't bad I wouldn't mind taking it again.
Possibly one of the best teachers in Pa. He tells stories but they are about how class work will relate to life. People cry about him but half of them did show up to class or try.
Dr. Crider is a very nice person but is a health instructor; not a teacher. The presentations are tricky to get a hold on but he gives you a guide to sum up what you learn in class. He tends to confuse his students and not really answer the question when in class. Just get through the class with a positive attitude and you will do fine.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! Gets off topic and test are ridiculously hard.
His tests are impossible. No one in my class received above a 65% on all of his tests. He makes you do a journal throughout the semester though that brings up your grade.
Not a good teacher, grading procedures are not clear, left the class knowing no more than the knowledge I came in with, tells pointless stories, and course organization makes no sense. Basically, I wish I hadn't taken the course.
Honestly I dreaded this class, I would not recommend that anyone take him for health. It's not that I believe that he is a bad person just not a great professor. His tests seemed so off topic and VERY few in the class did well on the exams. I would not take this class again. Attendance is necessary to pass & the book was not needed once.
Absolutely one of thee worst professors I ever had. He is not understanding when unexpected family matters happen. He doesn't know how to control the class so you have to fight to hear him over the students talking. Doesn't explain much when it comes to projects. If you can avoid him avoid him at ALL costs. He's a horrible professor.
Awesome guy. Study for a couple hours before the test and you'll pass easily. The material is literally straight out of a 9th grade health book.
Very down to earth dude. However, his tests are quite difficult, so make sure you study as much as you can. The main project for his class is difficult as well; I felt like I was wasting my time.
Having this guy does no good for your college education. If you want to watch videos and do nothing in class, take him. His class requires you too learn Primary and Secondary Skills, but he does nothing to help you. You have no idea what you have in the class the whole semester. Avoid him at all costs.
Dr Crider is an extremely nice guy. He really cares about you as a person and will do anything to help you find a job and networking. He cares about your life after college, but too much. Doesn't organize what he is teaching in an easy way. Rambles on about unimportant stuff. I have never felt prepared for any of his exams. You have to teach urself
Very nice guy, terrible professor. All over the place with lectures, very unclear when it comes to due dates, projects, or any information at all. Puts lots of useless information on powerpoints and goes through them very fast. Highest grade in the class for the first exam was a 74%. small in class study session in class the day before test.
He's a great person and great professor, likes to get to know his students, their are little assignments throughout the semester, two exams, and one big project/assignment. The big assignment is a semester long project. Their is a presentation based off your project. Overall, good class and you learn a lot.
He's a great person and great professor, likes to get to know his students, their are little assignments throughout the semester, two exams, and one big project/assignment. The big assignment is a semester long project. Their is a presentation based off your project. Overall, good class.
I took stress management with Crider. We did not use the textbook once. I learned a lot of "real life" stuff. There are few assignments, they're easy enough (2 papers, 2-3 presentations) but I found instructions to be very unclear. We also did some Tai Chi, which was unexpected.
Dr. Crider has to be the worst professor I have ever taken. He doesn't lecture about anything to do with the class and doesn't teach. I was really excited to learn in his class and the only thing that he taught me was to avoid his classes at all costs.
I have never had a teacher that talks as much as him, yet he doesn't know how to explain anything. His lectures are engaging I guess but he rambles on about nonsense that makes the class confusing to follow. He feels really unorganized. Class structure is confusing. It's all confusing. For these 300 level classes I am taking, it feels unacceptable.
Dr. Crider was my favorite professor this semester. I really enjoyed his FYS class and if I have the ability to take another one of his classes I definitely will. He is extremely caring and gives great advice and is very open to change if you do not like something he does in his class.
If you want a professor that tells stories all class instead of teaching you anything, Dr. Crider is the professor for you! After a whole semester of him telling stories, he expects you to create a final paper with no outline. If you go to him with questions about it, he will make you feel stupid for not knowing the material (that he didn't teach)
Although I have observed numerous negative comments about him, I firmly believe he frequently shares stories that are always pertinent to the discussions at hand. These narratives are both inspiring and motivational, intended to help us learn from others' mistakes.
