Lefevre was pretty good. He made business more interesting than I thought it would be. A few times he lectured too much (2 hr class) but most nights he had good cases and exercises. Seems to care. Lotsa stories.
Really nice and interesting teacher!!
He was awesome professor..
Great Professor! I really enjoyed the sessions.
His teaching is clear and concise, I loved it!
Great guy, great class, great powerpoint slides! Love it!
Great professor, using lots example and case study on class. Quite fun for most of the time, really help on giving feedback to students.
Professor Lefevre, is a great teacher. I like his teaching style, really organized and comprehensive.
Professor Duane, very interesting class and useful information. Thank you for all your nice suggestions and patience.
impressive teaching style and very useful knowledge.
high quality class. real nice personality.
I attended the educational dialogue in South Africa. Professor Lefevre was very good at giving one-on-one attention and addressing questions on the culture and customs of the country. He has a great personality and a lot of experience in his field.
THE BEST
I went on a dialogue to South Africa with Duane. He was very knowledgable about international travel and super helpful with any and all questions. I really enjoyed his lectures-- he has so many stories! All-in-all, great person and excellent teacher!
Duane is awesome!
Duane was a wonderful professor. Sometimes not always concise in initial instruction, but always there to answer questions and makes a ton of time for students in his personal time. Most importantly, he understands that students are people with limitations and will help you succeed to the best of your ability.
The majority of your grade depends on the professor’s opinion of you and your classmates’ opinions of you. He asks for classmates' opinions far too often and uses that to grade presentations and group projects. He seems to completely ignore that classmates obviously act in their own self interest. GOOD LUCK!!
Good personality but questionable grading policies and teaching skills
Duane was a great prof and I'm really glad I had him. He gave me a much higher grade than I thought I deserved (his grading seems to be more qualitative than quantitative), and his classes are very well prepared.
i like this course, it is very helpful for me and I hope I can take this professor's class next time!
This course is very useful for my career. Professor Lefever is very responsible and serious. To prepare PPT and interesting case study for each class.
He is a favorite business professor among the NU faculty. He is passionate and he will help you sharing your business ideas with your teammates. You will gain more than what you want during the course works. I recommend him for your success.
nice teacher
Nice professor! Always interesting.
This is a very good professor, and very helpful for improving your skills in business.
Great professor.
Great and he is very entertained.
VERY NICE PROFESSOR
Good man, and an awesome teacher. Learned a lot about different aspects of business, specially Marketing.
I learned a lot from this course, he was very helpful.
I really like him. He tries to make his lectures interesting. He cares about his students and is always there to help them. Test are not hard but they cover a lot of information so reading the text book is a must in order to pass the exams but other than that the class is really easy.
The class was based on case study and group project. I used to read uploaded ppt rather than read textbook.
Duane is a wonderful professor. His class is very interesting and can learn a lot of business basic strategies. I was total into his class!
He is a good teacher with passion!
Great professor with lot of enthusiasm. Well prepared to teach classes. I enjoyed it.
Introductory marketing classes can be pretty tedious with all those vocabulary and concepts, but Prof. Lefevre definitely did make the lectures interesting with his own additional activities and videos. He is also always available to answer questions via e-mail.
Great professor, gives a lot of real world experience. You have to read the book thoroughly to do good on his tests, his lectures will briefly go over the material, but the tests are straight memorization. Other than that his class is interesting
Professor Lefevre is very engaging and tries to make lectures interesting. But he is a very hard grader, so you have to have the exact, correct answer for full credit.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER
He is a perfect professor and also one of the best professors in my undergraduate classes. Also his class is clear and knowledgeable. He has lots of working experience relate his class. Therefore, he could give a lot of examples and experience that are close to our daily lives. It do help me a lot to understand this class.
A great professor, he knows the ins-out of the industry definitely an experienced professor would take his class all over again. If you want to learn while having fun this is the class to take. Keeps you engaged in all discussions!
Well organized, structured and understanding, yet held us to standard befitting of a University Student. Excellent Professor.
Good professor, great class, but tough homework
You do the reading. He stimulates you to think.
A knowledgeable and helpful professor, also a very interesting person
Awesome class, very insightful, and makes it very easy to participate, very recommended!
He is an amazing professor. Probably the best professor for marketing as he knows this subject in and out. He is very organized and explains and teaches with practical examples and gives us practical learning with activities and case studies. Do take his class. Always there for you to help.
Professor Lefevre was a great professor! He always used his extensive marketing background and professional experience to supplement the material presented in the textbook. Whether it was a case study or a new ad campaign, Professor Lefevre would always use supplementary materials to keep the class engaged. I would take another course with him!
Definitely grabs your attention and his lectures are very well done.
Lefevre shows enthusiasm for the content. Beware of cold- calling - use it as an opportunity to show you do the case studies and pay attention. Grading on assignments can be tough - be careful of grammar and show critical thinking abilities. Read the textbook, study the learnsmarts (!!!) and you'll get As on the exams.
Really chill guy who cares about his students. Keeps the lectures intetesting with activities to break it up which was great! Textbook really isn't necessary as we don't have any online homeworks, but does make studying for the tests A LOT easier, especially if you don't take notes in class. Take Lefevre!
Prof Lefevre was awesome. His lectures are always interesting and he invites great guest lecturers. Two big tips: 1. Participate in class often 2. Read the textbook before the midterm and final. Anyone who complains about the class being difficult didn't read the book. Although it doesn't seem essential during the semester, it'll help on the tests.
His lectures are interesting and speakers are great. The only class I looked forward to attend. Would recommend!
Professor Lefevre is in my opinion a great professor. He will help you with any questions or concerns and makes the class very entertaining with real-life examples or guest speakers. His testing is fair and even curves the exams. Whichever professor you take, you will have to do 2 important group projects but he manages to help you and guide you.
Professor Lefevre is one of the best professors I had in Northeastern. He's always there for students and can be really funny in class. I would recommend taking his STRT4501 course if you are looking for an awesome professor to spend your last semester with. Be prepared for the 2 exams, and study all the required materials thoroughly. RECOMMEND! :)
One of the best professors I had at Northeastern! His lectures are always interesting and he invites great guest lecturers. All exam questions come from textbook so reading the textbook is a must in order to pass the exams.
Prof Lefevre was an amazing prof who truly cared about his students. He came to class prepared and used an array of his own real life examples from living abroad and working in different aspects of marketing and business that contributed to our understanding and learning. If you attend class and participate, you will do well and enjoy it!
Taking any class as a senior who was about to graduate and already had a job is going to be difficult. Especially when it is a class with a lot of your friends. However, Duane was able to keep every single class interesting. He treats you exactly how you would want to be treated in a senior capstone class. Would absolutely recommend this professor!
He relies heavily on group grades & the reviews of other classmates. Almost nothing we learn in class is needed for the tests, which are just regurgitation of book info. He is very unfair in his grading and seems to haphazardly assign grades with very few quantitative metrics. People have seemed to like him for MKT but for INTB it was different.
Quite possibly the worst prof I have ever had. He is an unapproachable jerk and quite simply does not care about his students. He is a ridiculously hard grader and he is ruining my GPA.
He doesn't care about students and he is hard grader
Duane was a great teacher who brought in a lot of class lecturers from the business world, which was awesome. Although there was a lot of group work, the class was still fun and informative. He was able to bring in a lot of examples from class. If you study for your tests you will get A's on them. Not sure how the other things are graded.
I strongly recommend to take his class. he is really great professor. the way he is teaching is to motivate student not to give one way teaching. also he is friendly and willing to listen all students opinion and give comfortable atmosphere.
He was really good professor to teach and lead our class. He seems like our friends. He always make students feel comfortable also his material always helps to me.
I loved taking this class last semester. Professor Lefevre always made the lectures interesting. His tests are pretty striaght forward if you read the chapters and understand the terms. Particiation is really important but it is really easy to contribute to the conversation. He is a really understanding professor. 100% would take his class again!!
MKTG was not my favorite, but this teacher taught it well. If you are looking for a teacher who teaches by the book, look elsewhere. But if you are capable of learning from a textbook and want interesting lectures then this class is for you. He supplements the book info with his own experiences. You get to watch fun ads. There are group projects.
MKTG was not the easiest course for me, but his lectures were great. He clearly explained his slides and provide real-world marketing based on his experiences. Learn a lot from class discussion even though I was not the best student in terms of participation. I would take his class again.
Such an inspiring man! Very fun and intercative classes .
Professor Lefevre is one of my favorite professors in Northeastern. He is full of energy and is always prepared to teach. His classes carry abundant information and interesting cases. I'm especially amazed by his lecture on intercultural communication, partly because he worked in India for several years and has gained lots of personal experiences.
He is friendly and has great lecture.
I like this professor. He respects all student's opinions. And we can have chance to discuss.
One of my favorite courses. He was very friendly. If you are an international student who usually feels pressure in class participation situations, you can easily participate in his class. His lecture materials are very well-made. He shared his experiences in the business world. The exam questions are not difficult and are based on the textbook.
He is a very good professor gave interesting lectures. If you keep on the track for papers, projects and two exams, you will get a good grade I believe. Take him for the last business core class! Recommend him!
Great professor to take for Strat. He does a great job engaging the class and bringing in cool guest speakers. He knows the material really well and is always willing to give feedback. Tough to get A's on written assignments, but curves up.
A terrific professor! This was my 2nd class with him and I had waited until he was teaching it. Has a lot of marketing and business practical experience that he relates to the course work, and will bring in guest speakers when he can. Class participation is VERY important but he has clearly specified expectations. Great lectures Very high energy
The professor is very nice and kind. He is always ready for helping everyone. Moreover, his has plentiful work experiences with big corporations, which can then give us many useful instructions and suggestions relating to our courses during the lectures. He is always smiling and full of passionate. And his course is well-prepared. Good professor!
He is really friendly, willing to answer all student's questions
Great professor for an online course. Incredibly clear instructions, easy to follow. Professor gives good feedback and is readily available. Would recommend.
Engaging lecturer and hilarious in class but get ready to thoroughly read the book if you want to do good on the tests. A majority of the grade is a group project and participation. He grades very harshly, so be prepared to have your GPA go down!
Very strict with participation. Tends to send e-mails to let you know you are at the bottom of class in terms of participation. BUT, class does not have time enough for talking, it's lecture heavy and slides show!
Duane is a great guy and super friendly. I would say about 1 in 4 classes are hard to sit through but he knows when the material is boring and asks you bear with him. He is an extremely tough grader and group projects are a big part of it. He loves participation and often makes the class very interactive
Awesome teacher to have, makes the lectures really interesting and very interactive. A lot of group work so be ready for that and tests are ALL textbook so READ. So much fun in class so if you put the work in you'll do great
I LOVE PROFESSOR LEFEVRE!! Class with professor Lefevre is a class that I will remember for years. He is very funny, very engaging, and makes you love the subject and want to participate. In terms of grading, he is a fair professor, you will get the key ideas from class, but you have to read the textbook to do good. 10/10 Would RECOMMEND.
Duane is one of the best professors at Northeastern. He makes the classroom environment fun and thought provoking. Additionally, he brought in awesome guest speakers (CEOs, VPs) of some well respected companies. Exams are the usual. Study from the text book and ensure you grasps the learning objectives. I would 100% recommend him!!
Professor is a very tought grader, if you are doing 150% you will get a B+, his grading criteria is crazy, you must be absolutely perfect, no room for mistakes. Sometimes very interactive classes, but Professor demands a substuantial amout of attention to details. He is tricky, seems very kind, but when it comes to tests, watch out.
I took two classes(MKTG2201 and STRT4501) with Prof. Lefevre and I'd rate him as one of the best professors in NEU. Lectures are interactive and didn't take too much of my time. I see reviews criticizing the level of difficulty however, I feel like students take these core classes assuming they will be easy however that is not the case for everyone
The biggest issue with this course was the textbook; it's too general and should be replaced with a better one, or even replaced entirely by casework/outside reading. Prof. Lefevre has deep professional experience and is great about integrating guest lectures into his course. The guest lectures really took this course from 'meh' to 'great'.
The most inconsistent grader I have ever encountered. Don't recommend taking his class. He doesn't care about his students and never gives any feedback, even when students ask for it.
Really great professor. Very fair class! Would recommend 100% As a capstone, it was not too difficult!
Read the chapter and you are good to go for the exam!
Professor Lefevre's lectures are always hilarious and interesting to attend. Brings in guest speakers, uses tons of fun videos in his presentations, and connects life experiences. Definitely a tough grader on presentations so you have to really impress. Great class, great professor.
Professor Lefevre is very engaging and makes class interesting! He has great guest lecturers towards the end of the semester. His presentations on the material are tied to the real world cases and often experiences. As long as you read the textbook you will do well on the test.
Professor Levefre is very funny and knowledgeable of various industries. Nevertheless, this class is by no means easy - it has 2 short case write-ups, 2 long case analysis, 1 big group project, and 2 exams. Be prepare to read & write a lot to ace. All the efforts are worth it - I have learned so much about business strategy thanks to Professor!
Prof Lefevre is an amazing professor who cares about teaching the core fundamental values of marketing. His exams are fair and not all hard as long as you use the textbook to prep for them. The class projects are fun and competitive and a great chance to prove your knowledge! Would highly recommend taking Prof Lefevre for all levels of marketing
I've taken 2 classes with Prof Lefevre and highly recommend him. He seems to really love teaching and puts a lot of thought into his lectures. He also brings in some great guest speakers throughout the semester.
Amazing professor. Grade is composed 3 tests (45%), 1 group project (30%), 1 paper (10%), & hw/participation/attendance (5%). Has funy, engaging, relevant lectures, will bring in cookies, and very, very experienced in the marketing field. His grading is difficult and makes you work for it, but it's worth it; you'll obtain more info in the long run.
Professor Lefevre is one of the better professors at Northeastern. Although there are a lot of lectures, he does his best to make them interactive & fun. Hard, but extremely fair grader & offers a ton of feedback on grades if you approach him. For a finance major taking marketing it was one of the best decisions Ive made as I learned a ton.
Great lecturer, really interesting and adds a good amount of student interaction and activities! Professor Lefevre makes class interesting but does grade hard. If you read the textbook and pay attention in class you will learn a lot, and it will not be too hard.
Gave quizzes out of the blue, but is a great teacher!
Professor Lefevre is passionate and cares about his students. His class taught me about the business world, applying theories that we needed to cover in class. His class was intriguing and made me excited to attend! The part that I loved most about this class was the level of student engagement. Don't miss out the beauty of this course's final!
Great professor! It's not an easy class but very rewarding at the end. Lots to read and to do each week such as quizzes, and discussion boards. You will also be playing a game called GLO-BUS with other classmates. That game can be hard but fun at the same time. Professor Lefevre is very fair with the grades, and I would totally recommend him.
Duane is an absolute gem! Taking him for Strategy In Action, the business capstone class, was the perfect ending to my time at D'Amore-McKim. He shows up to every class prepared, ready to impart wisdom, and back up the learning w/ real life anecdotes. He's smart, accessible, hilarious, and good looking as well! Take Duane's Class!!!
Duane does a great job coming to class prepared to teach and manages his time well. Plenty of experience in the industry to give good feedback and answer questions honestly. He is a very fair professor, but don't expect to sit in class on your laptop and not participate. The value in this class is the discussion focused around case studies.
This is the professor that truly taught me the most. Outside of class, he taught me how to deal with my future path. Inside the class, he taught me how to really be a business owner and market out my products. Its truly an amazing adventure with Prof. Lefevre. I would always take his class again and again.
The professor is professional, inspirational, and attentive. I never want to skip any class since his amazing lectures and excellent presentation skills fascinated me a lot. I have taken away from him including time management, stay focus to do things, participate more in class, and quality over quantity. I would rate him as 99/100.
He is really supportive in class. He provided a lot of example for us and gave many interesting information in marketing industry. I really enjoy when I study his class
Kind professor, cares about his students and is funny. Participation matters in class but he makes it easy to participate. Brings in a few really interesting guest speakers throughout course.
Professor Lefevre is a great instructor both for MKTG and STRT. He cares about his students and is as friendly as it can get. Be prepared to put a lot of effort into case studies and tests though. Only impeccable papers get maximum grades and tests go into a lot of detail which makes sense for a Capstone class.
The worst professor to go on a dialogue with. The grading criteria is unclear, takes forever to grade and doesn't grade properly! He will not reply to your emails and won't help you at all. He tells you something and does something completely different. Moreover, favoritism is evident. Don't go on a dialogue with him if possible.
I had a great time on my dialogue w Professor Lefevre. He was always in a good mood and ready for the day. The trip was a mix of business visits and cultural visits, the majority of which I found super interesting. He took us to amazing restaurants all the time and was overall a very easygoing guy. Grades by a few small assignments and 1 bigger one
The best professor ever in my life bros
Amongst my favorite Professor's. Great material and Good exposure through Guest Speakers with relevant and extensive experiences. Professor himself has worked in several countries and has insights to share about international business and culture.
Professor Lefevre was my favorite professor this semester. Although my final course grade was not as high as I would have liked for it to be, that was because of the course switching to online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the time spent on semester he kept the class engaging and interesting, if you listen to his lectures, it's an easy pass.
amazing and thoughtful professor
Professor Lefevre is a very professional, caring, and inspirational educator.
The professor requires cameras for Zoom. There is a heavy emphasis on group projects within a team you are assigned to in the first week (one debate, one market project). The material is interesting, the professor does well in an online environment - minus some videos over Zoom that do NOT come through. Would recommend, fairly easy.
Professor Duanes positive energy will make you like the course and you will very willingly spend time to do your best for the team project. He is very encouraging so you will feel comfortable to participate in the class. I had a great end to my undergraduate studies as I couldnt have asked for a more amazing professor for my capstone course!
Professor Lefevere was very professional durning our classes, he made sure everyone understood the material before moving forward. He knows how to draw you out for discussions and made the class materials always interesting. He cared about the success of his student both in class and outside.
Professor Duane Lefevre is an amazing professor. His class very active, he has may great stories to share with students, great lectures, many interesting videos watch in Class. he has very special questions ask students to think. Our group project very helpful to learn in this class. He loves to listen students thought.
Professor Lefevre was outstanding! He made the course very interesting and relatable to the real world which better prepared us for what to expect upon graduating and joining the professional space. This course had many takeaways and provided us with exercises that tested our ability. I would recommend this course to anyone!
Professor Lefevre is an overall very experienced professor. He has traveled to many places and talks about his experiences in class, making classes more enjoyable and engaging. You can tell that he cares about different cultures and the subject he is teaching. Overall, the class is project heavy and he can be a tough grader at times, but manageable
Professor Lefevre is most passionate when talking about his travels that relate to the course. The lectures are long and you must have your camera on at all times to be counted in attendance. The tests are not difficult if you read and study the textbook, but he is harsh in grading the discussion posts, market project, and debates.
He did a good job of making the class more interesting than it could have been. We had debates, live speakers from marketing and HR industries and a market entry project. These things deserve a 5. But, once he started teaching the textbook it got bad. So half the class was cool activities and projects, and the other half was unengaging textbook
Harsh graders. Never give you good grades even you meet all the requirements. He even gives you C for discussion board posts.
I took Lefevre's class Fall 2020 and had a good time. The debate project was awesome and made classes really fun, but some classes were kind of boring when he relied on PowerPoints and videos to teach. He was a really harsh grader, didn't seem to give anyone grades above 90. If you study his notes you'll do fine,I got C grades when I used the text.
This guy is the best. Would take every class with him if I could. h
Professor Lefevre is the best instructor that I had at Northeastern. He is very knowledgeable and always provided constructive feedback that made me improve throughout the course. The knowledge and skills I acquired from Prof. Lefevre on business strategy, marketing, and analytics was invaluable. I would recommend him to any student.
The course was engaging despite it being online. The discussion board interactions were great( involved video responses), and the material was informative. Fair grading that reflects the amount of effort & thought you put into the class. Great course!
The guidance given to complete our team's group project was they best I have ever received.
I wasn't fond of the group projects because there weren't guidelines and he graded harshly. For the quizzes, which were relatively easy, I self studied the textbook because his slides didn't cover all the content. I hesitated to participate in his class. I think my final grade was the average of my quiz grades, so it was ok, but I'm in NUin Boston.
Professor Lefevre was easily one of my best instructors throughout my collegiate career. He consistently provided interesting, and challenging, course material in an organized and timely manner, which he supplemented with helpful articles and links. He also provided us with unique opportunities to apply the knowledge that we had learned in class.
Prof. Lefevre was a great introduction to international business. The lectures were engaging and the guest speakers he brought in are well-respected in the industry and gave great lectures. You really need to study the textbook before quizzes, which are really easy. He also provides all course materials online (ie slides) which was quite helpful.
He was a very nice professor but the work he made us do was heavy. We had group debates but you NEED prior debate experience to do somewhat well, and a group project due at the end of the semester which was also hard. The tests were okay (25 multiple choice, 4 essay questions) but get ready to read and go over his past slides.
Professor Lefevre was an insightful and knowledgeable teacher. He used his lectures to supplement the readings, which was helpful for this class. He brought in great guest speakers who reinforced course topics and allowed for great discussion as well. He supplements his discussions with his real-world, global experience. Exams are reading-based.
Amazing professor, was able to learn a lot from the class. I do not like reading, but I was able to learn so much and it was extremely intersting. The professor was well prepared and was able to teach a lot through it.
Professor Lefevre is the best professor for STRT4501. Do not take professors which other students say will give an easy A, it is not worth your money. Take professor Lefevre because you will learn a lot of useful skills and knowledge about the real world, and you will actually have fun in this class. You get to make close friends too!
Professor Lefevre was a great professor in terms of learning about real-world experience. He is very knowledgeable about international relations and has been to a multitude of different countries himself. One of the best parts of his class is that he allows those who are established to come in and talk to the class.
Duane was great! Loved his teaching style, very enthusiastic, easy to talk to, and used interactive activities in class rather than repeating what was in the textbook. The grade is part debate, midterm, group project, final and class participation; so each holds weight and you just have to put in the time to earn the grade.
Hello, If you guys want to have a fun and active class, then this is it! Business Strategy may sound simple and basic, but you will learn quite some new things and become more knowledgeable, especially about real business events. Thanks,
Professional Lefevre is the greatest professor in the world, his love and passion has inspired me to be a better person. HE IS THE BEST!!!!!!
He is a great professor and I will always appreciate him.
The Professor likes when students do their best. He is a though grade; however, he is always available to meet with students and go over the assignments and discussions. The class was challenging but worth it!
By far, one of the biggest highlights of my academic journey. Professor Lefevre's deep knowledge in strategy topics is impeccable and his classes have been intellectually stimulating and fun. Not to mention, Professor Lefevre's brilliant personal qualities, who is one of the most caring and invested professors out there. Highly recommend!
The best instructor I have had in this online pgm. His wealth of knowledge coupled with supplemental resources were informative. He provided great discussion board feedback, making the discussion requirement dynamic. He was fully engaged with the class, providing weekly updates and encouraging notes. I learned so much that I use in my current job!
EXTREMELY critical. I have been an A student my entire life, always befriending professors and contributing good work. This professor is the most ridiculous and harsh grader, with 0 input on improving. He accused me of cheating with no evidence and provided no feedback. This was an intro class, and I felt it was a 3000 level. Take this for a B.
Very nice professor and bring us lots of nice learning experiences from guest speakers. Always happy to give us feedback for courses and assignments.
Perhaps one of the best professors I've ever taken at Northeastern. Beware that this class does require a lot of work -- reading and writing, but Professor Lefevre is super helpful and very engaging. The guest speakers were awesome too -- and all the group and class activities made time fly by. Would definitely take a class with him again.
Amazing person, great guest lectures, true experience in his field. Made the class feel like an actual community. One of the best professors I have ever had. Love you, Duane
Definitely not the easiest teacher at NEU, as he does grade harsher than others and really makes you work for a good grade. However, he is very experienced in the different fields of business and provides good feedback on the assignments provided. The GLO-BUS experience in the capstone class was also very fun, so overall a good professor to take.
He's a great guy, very open and engaging with the class. He lectures on the slides he posts and the class is graded on very few assignments. Debate (20%), Business presentation (25%), Quizzes (2) (40%), and participation (15%). Read the textbook outside of class if you want to do well on the two quizzes.
Very engaging and fun lectures with lots of videos and guest speakers. The structure of his class makes it so we are graded on very few things, so doing well on those is crucial. Can be a bit harsh when it comes to expectations for project but is overall a great guy.
very nice professor that goes out of his way to make class engaging and interesting. attendance is pretty important since he uses qwickly but also collects the name tags of students that were present.
He cared about the topics and brought in great guest speakers. Be prepared for the debate and market entry presentations as well as read the textbook for the 2 tests.
Professor Lefevre strives to see his students succeed. He's very clear with requirements, accessible outside of class, and will provide great feedback when it comes to projects. He's very experienced in the field of international business, and as a result is always helpful. There are 2 quizzes, worth 20% each, which are exclusively chapter-focused.
There are two quizzes that are worth 40% of the final grade, and they're based on the textbook. He doesn't teach the textbook info because he doesn't want to be boring. He's still really boring. So 40% of your final grade is based on being able to learn from a textbook on your own. 15% of the grade is participation. The last 45% is group projects.
Professor Lefevre is overall a good person, like genuinely. I feel like he's always happy to be there, so all of the lectures, though the content can be boring, were made better by his enthusiasm. He tried his best to engage the class, so there's a focus on class participation. Projects and debate were kinda heavy, so be prepared to work a lot.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. Class is really engaging because instead of just lecturing he does lots of interesting discussions, funny case studies, small fun group simulations, etc. He has traveled and worked literally all over the globe so he has tons of great stories and is definitely qualified to teach the course.
Great professor! You can tell he's very interested and passionate about what he teaches which makes the class for engaging. A lot of content on the midterm and finals aren't covered in class so make sure you review textbook and other resources before the tests. He's a pretty tough grader and doesn't curve tests.
grade is determined by like 5 things quizzes debate group proj and like participation. getting good group for debate and proj matters alot, lefevre grades hella harsh so make sure you get good group. very very important otherwise you end with B.
Amazing lectures and truly intriguing stories as well. Graded on only five components, so be sure to perform well. The curve at the end of the semester was very generous as well.
Professor Lefevre makes class interesting and engaging through activities, discussions, and guest speakers. However, you will have to read the textbook on your own, since exams are heavily based on textbooks. He is very understanding and easy-going, so definitely take him if you can!
PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROFESSOR. EXTREMELY DEFICULT COURSE AND POOR GRADER. I am a final-year student with straight A's. He added my first B grade to my transcript. I have tried 100 times hard to do better in this class, but I still got a B. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR.
Much like the business world and most professors teaching this class, he has high expectations. The simulation is very lifelike and challenging. You need to make sure you complete the reading to be ready for the quizzes and although they are hard they do not carry a significant amount of weight - but make sure you stay on top of assignments.
This class and professor are tough - but in talking with peers all professors are for this course. If you stay on top of assignments and participate you will be successful.
This is my second class with him. This course is challenging and requires hard work. Discussion and simulation are effective and engaging, yet quite demanding. In order to succeed in this class, you need to stay on top of assignments. His grading criteria is clear, so paying close attention to his instructions and rubric is crucial for a high grade.
This is the best course I have taken in my academic journey so far, so I truly recommend Professor Lefevre. I took a version of the class with an experiential learning component that gave me a taste of what working in Marketing is like in the real world. If you are passionate about Marketing and truly want to learn, this class is for you.
Professor Lefevre makes the class engaging with discussions and activities. Though textbook-heavy, his enthusiasm makes lectures enjoyable. Doing well on group projects and studying with Unstuck AI is key to succeeding.
Great class and really good speakers
Really fun activities during class, but doesn't really do much to prepare for the quizzes. You have to read a lot of the textbook to actually do well on the quizzes. The course is graded very heavily on the group debate and the group final presentation, so your designated group really matters.
Professor Lefevre is a great teacher. He is very personable with students and wants everyone to do well. Group assignments matter a lot as each project is based on these groups. Graded by two quizzes, a debate, a presentation, and participation. Quizzes are pretty fair, but you are definitely expected to read outside of class in order to do well.
This class was very interactive, with engaging lectures. The main projects were a country debate and a market entry project, graded as a group (provide feedback if group members don't contribute fairly or if they exceed expectations), Professor Lefevre takes it into account. Study the textbook, and you'll do well!
Made the class engaging. This was his key strength. Most of learning is done outside of class by reading the textbook as his lectures are very general and mostly consists of reading off of the slides. Willing to curve depending on class averages. Group project contribution form responses are not reflective of the grades we receive.
Great professor, and definitely helps students who care about the class. Overall experience 10/10, I would definitely take class again with him.
Great class, professor had clear instructions on the assignments and was understanding of students questions/concerns.
Professor Lefevre is very hands on. If you're looking to skate through a class with minimal interaction, look for a different instructor. Professor Lefevre has incredible knowledge and experience which is shared though content and comments throughout discussion boards and rubrics for assignments. I can confidently say I learned a lot!
Professor Lefevre's Business Strategy course is challenging but rewarding. The simulation exercise was intense and team-driven, pushing you to apply what you learn throughout the semester. Be ready to invest time, but the real-world value makes it worth it. Highly recommend if you're serious about the subject.
Professor Lefevre sticks to the syllabus, the assignments are perfectly connected with canvas. The rubrics are clear for grading criteria. Discussions are also very clear in terms of what is expected. Lastly, group projects are very well planned. The organization makes it easy to learn. They are also very responsive to emails.
Great professor that is open to communication as long as you show effort. Definitely recommend. Learned a great amount from this course.
Lefev is one of my favorite professors that I have ever had. He is fun, kind, and is actually a really good teacher. I would 100% recommend!
Best prof, go ahead eyes closed
Tried to make all lectures fun with guest speakers and interactive simulations during class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. it boring and i learnt nothing of value. everything is dependent on a group mark in which he doesn't mark each member separately, you will get the same grade as your laziest group member. Groups are given at the beginning of the semester and don't change. very hard marker and very unreasonable.
Duane is a great professor who cares about his students. Classes are very discussion-based. There are a couple long case-study analysis papers and a term group project that is very intensive, but that should be expected for a capstone course.
Makes presentations engaging. Not my fav prof, he can be a little passive aggressive. Other than that answers emails fast. Participation matters a lot; there are no excuses for missing class. Group projects are important, you will get assigned a random group in the beginning of the class. If you get stuck with a bad group, just pray. harsh grader
Wonderful class changed my career trajectory. Class is engaging while not being overly taxing, and is such a good representation of why I love NU's global focus. Make sure to start projects early too. My best piece of advice is to get to know the people in your group even if you've never met, this will make you look forward to going to class!
Information through presentations gone over in class have little to no resemblance on the two exams taken (makes up 40% of your grade). Makes class engaging by bringing in guest speakers, but you need to read the textbook to do good on the exams. 2 group projects where you cannot choose your group. Attendance and participation is 15% of your grade.
The professor made class really enjoyable, and the work was pretty straightforward. If you set aside 2 hours or whatever you need for those big tests, you'll be fine. Also was not really a harsh grader and I think his grades were pretty fair.
