Duane is awesome. He is very helpful and wants you to do well. One big project, a midterm, and a final. That's really it. He's willing to help you out if he can. Easy A if study for exams and do the project. Project is long, just do it. It's fun.

Duane is so great! The quizes are word for word from the questions at the end of the chapter, and the book isn't even bad to read!! Go to class = easy A Just read before the 2 quizzes. Not too hard.

Great professor. Helped the students out with whatever they needed. He took us on many field trips including and overnight trip to one of his hotels that was a lot of fun. Take his lodgings class if you can.

Duane & Bo tought my class and the 2 of them made my semester. DO NOT GET THE BOOK, they even recomend you not to, I didn't and they never referanced it. The hotel overnight trip was TONS of FUN to the E. Lansing Hampton Inn owned by Duane.Rarely take attendance, 2 tests, 1 easy assnmt that I dont think he ever corrected, final test & project.

Had some homework assignments out of book but didn't need to do the reading. Attend class and take notes to do well on test. Would take him again.

I hate lodging but Duane made the class so much fun! The project, while annoying, was really useful so it's true what he says about it! We used the textbook once so it's probably not worth buying. Exams are pretty easy and you can usually talk him into letting you use a cheat-sheet.

Favorite prof so far at GV! He has a ton of experience and tells hilarious stories. Wasn't interested in Lodging at all before this class, now considering it for my emphasis. Definitely take him if you can!

Duane has so much knowledge within the Hospitality world. This class had very boring material but he tired his hardest to make it interesting & relatable. He always makes sure the class understands something before he moves. If you do poorly on a test he will offer to reteach you the material and let you retake portions of the test. Take him!

Info analysis is a hard boring class, but Duane really taught it great! It was his first semester teaching this class, and we all loved him. He has a lot of stories but personally thats how i learn. He really cares about his students not just the grades. Lets you retake parts of the exams. Hotelsims is really fun with him. Definitely take him!

He assigns homework weekly, but it is based on reading and opinions on how you would approach the situation. He makes class engaging and memorable and cares about his students. Duane is awesome! A 3 hour class is always long, but he does his best to keep everyone interested and gives students breaks. Sometimes you'll get out like 10 minutes early, but don't count on it. I absolutely love him. His lectures are long (bc it's a one-day-a-week class) but he makes it feel like it goes by fast. He makes it interesting and loves feedback. He tries to think of new ways to give you best experience possible. I think he's amazing.

Duane is an amazing professor. By far my favorite professor I have had. The 3 hour class is so easy to get through because he is so amusing and truly cares about his students. The material for this class is challenging, but Duane makes it fun and less stressful. There's a business report that you'll have to do at the end so don't procrastinate!!

Zuber is an awesome professor. He truly cares about the students and wants them to learn. There is no "textbook" but you do have to read a shorter book and pay $75 for an online certification in hotel analytics. This is a hybrid class, so lots of outside class discussion boards, etc. I highly recommend this class for any tourism major.

Hands Down best professor to have for Lodging Management. Knows his stuff and is hilarious. Only 1 "big" project called the brand project. Really easy to complete. Has deadlines throughout the semester. 2 exams (midterm and final) Allows you to use a cheat sheet. Homework is easy. Take him!

I really was worried about this class. I am not good with math and accounting so I knew I was going to struggle. Duane made this class so much better than I could have hoped. Although the material is hard he was able to explain it in a way that for the first time made sense. This is not a easy class and there is a good amount of work.

HTM 373 is not an easy class, but Duane goes out of his way to make sure you understand and learn the material. Lots of math, but he knows HTM majors don't typically take math classes, so he caters to do. Makes sure to pick a good group. And go to class - all of the lectures play off each other and you need to understand everything to do well.

Duane is a great professor! I took him for both HTM 222 and HTM 373. The material in 373 is not difficult to understand if you readily apply it outside of class and focus on figuring out how to utilize it in the real world. This class can seem intimidating at first but Duane makes sure one gets the grade they deserve if they put in the work!

He is very good at sending weekly updates about the class and is always willing to meet outside of class to help,even if it is in Allendale. He teaches the material not for the test but for your future career. His expectations are high but it should be that way

I took this class once a week for 3 hours so I would suggest not skipping because you cover a lot of material each week. You get experience in the industry in Duane's 222 class and even get to make a site visit to a hotel. However, there are not many points in the class so there are big papers or projects that are only worth a few points.

This is harder class with a good amount of work outside of class (it is a Hybrid). Although it is not a easy class Duane makes it enjoyable and I feel like I am treated like I am a peer in the industry and not as a student which I like since this is my last semester

Toughest class in the HTM program. I am not a numbers person so the material in this class was harder for me but Duane was incredibly patient and helpful. Two tests, numerous homework assignments, and one LARGE project. Listen to Duane and the student evals he gives that say do not skip class as it is very hard to learn the material on your own.

One large paper with interview. two tests, and several assignments. Make sure you dont skip class as you will get behind. Duane prints the power-points for you and tells you how to organize them. Tough class because of the material. I was worried about this class as I did poorly in acc212. I think I have a much better understanding of the fundamentals of accounting now after this class. Taking Duane for HTM373 right now. I was terrified to take this class as I struggled in both accounting classes. Not an easy class for sure, but Duane has helped me so much. The final project is one of the hardest things I have done at GVSU, and I am struggling with it, but I can see in writing it how much I learned in this class.

I found this class to be harder than most of the HTM classes but doable. You can tell Duane puts in a good amount of work preparing for the class and keeping us updated on what is going on in class. Two exams, an interview, several homework assignments and one large paper. Take Duane's advice and do not skip this class.

HTM373 is an intimidating class, but Duane cares so much about his students that it makes this class much more enjoyable

SUPER nice guy! He is so funny and keeps the class interested! He really cares about your success, but come to class to ensure you understand everything. Be prepared for the HotelSim paper (it is a long one). Your textbook is put together by him and is very cheap compared to other classes.

Duane literally cares about you getting your money's worth and actually learning things. I went into a job shadow after this class and I now have a mentor because she was impressed by the knowledge Duane gave me. The paper might seem overwhelming at first but if you hold yourself accountable and start early it really is not that bad.

Had Zuber for HTM280 which is a new class. It is not a easy class but Zuber made it a positive experience. Make sure you do not skip the class . Zuber lectures are amazing and he is available to meet outside of class. He really cares so make sure you see him if you need help.

HTM 280 was brand new this semester, and he was great at working through the course with us. his lectures were full of info, but he did a great job explaining each concept. definitely don't want to miss class because his in-class examples are very valuable!

I had Duane for HTM 222 and 373 as well, and I have to say that he sets an example of what educators should be! He challenges you and puts a lot of effort into delivering the material to his students, along with encouraging feedback (and actually listens to it). He is a professor that makes me want to put my best effort in his class.

If you want a prof who cares, Duane is the one! Most profs say they care, but they won't answer your texts/emails as soon as possible or ask why you didn't do some assignments. He cares and wants you to learn as much as you can. He gives assignments but is a few points worth. I still suggest to do them; otherwise, you won't excel as much.

Class is based out of 100 points so all of the assignments are worth 2.5 points and the midterm and final are 15. This makes it hard to do thorough work because it seems like you are working for nothing but helps get information in your brain. Love him as a professor. Cares so much about his students and is a really good teacher.

One of my favorite classes but only because Duane teaches it. In class it is important to not just take notes but also listen the stories as they will help you better understand the material. The simulation, the assignments that go with it and the paper are good amount of work but I can say that I know the material better than when I took acc212. If you are in class he explains everything. Make sure you don't miss class and ask questions and you will be good

I had Duane for HTM222. All in all it was a good class. I really enjoyed the lectures as Duane heavily involves the class. There is an assignment after almost every class but I did not mind doing them as they reinforced what we learned in class. The book is boring but not much Duane can do about that

It's taken with accounting, and definitely helped me understand accounting concepts. You won't regret taking this professor!

Duane is a great a Professor. HTM 273 was such a great class to take. This class has taught me so much about the lodging industry and he cares about what he teaches. He sometimes goes fast through the material but if you ask him to slow down, he will because he wants to make sure everyone understands the material. I would 100% take him again.

Duane does a great job of making the material fun, interactive, and light-hearted with his applicable examples and personal examples from his own life that never fail to make me laugh. He truly makes accounting interesting and entertaining to learn. He also created his own textbook that is extremely affordable which really helped me out.

I took his 6-9 Lodging class and he is such a great professor! I wouldn't want to spend my Monday nights with any other teacher. He is understanding, knows the material very well, and makes class interactive and fun despite the lecture-style. Would take him again!

This class was the best and Zuber is amazing! You take this with ACC 201/202 and Duane makes the things you learn in those classes applicable to the hospitality world and where you are going to see those things come up. Plus he helps reinforce the ideas that you have learned in ACC 201/202. Highly would recommend and it really isn't that scary.

Duane does a great job at engaging students, especially for a 6-9. He is always highlighting the importance of the course content in terms of real life & your future career. Loves to share intriguing career anecdotes. Weekly homework can be tedious, but it's very easy to do & the answers can be found right in the book or the content provided.

THE best professor I have ever had in my college experience. This is a man who truly loves what he does and is not afraid to express it. I can honestly say I always leave his classes with full understanding of what it is I just learned and what it is I need to do. 10/10 recommend.

Prof Zuber is one of the best, if not the best, HTM prof at GV. he is truly caring and wants you to succeed in his class. He has a heart of gold and actually truly cares for his students and if there for you for anything you may need. His class is great, I learned so much. The lectures are interactive and a lot of fun. Duane is probably the best professor that I have had at GVSU. He has the best lectures and is so caring about his students. Although learning about financial statements can seem tough, Duane makes it easy to learn. You do have to come to class, there is a lot of material covered in the lectures and if you don't go to class you will fall behind.

Zuber is the best professor at GVSU. I have learned so much in this class. The material is more complex, but Zuber explains it so that I can relate to the restaurant I am working in. I can see how this material applies to my job, and I learned I know more than my supervisor regarding financials. Do not skip class.

Prof. Zuber is one of my favorite professors. I actually feel like I learned material that I can use in my career. The class is easier at the beginning but gets harder as the semester goes. I learned so much from the paper and the shark tank exercise. I did not like doing them but I am so happy I did now that they are done as I learned a ton.

Professor Zuber was one of my favorite professors at GV. Super nice guy that is willing to meet you outside of class, even bought me a Starbucks for one office hour appointment. The HotelSim project was challenging but it probably taught me the most here at GV. Advice to others; don't skip class and do all of the assignments.

Best professor I've had at GVSU. The class was a decent amount of work but it is so obvious how much Duane truly cares for you as a person and not just as a student. I can not recommend this professor enough, I would take him again if I could!

Favorite prof. at GVSU so far. Duane goes out of his way to you know that he cares. I believe what I learned I can apply both professionally and personally. I did not want to miss class because I found the material interesting because of the way he teaches it. Be ready to participate.

Duane Zuber is by far the best professor that the HTM department has. He is caring towards his students and wants to see them succeed. There is a 40-45 page paper but he prepares you well for it. You will submit 3 rough drafts and 1 final draft. When he gives you feedback, make sure you add it into your paper. I would definitely take him again!

Zuber is my favorite professor at GV. His lectures are so helpful but, at the same time, entertaining, which helped me learn the material. I can honestly say I have learned more from this class than from any of my other classes so far at GV. If you need help, talk to him. He is super kind and helpful. He truly means it when he says he cares

Prof. Zuber is a genuinely nice man. I struggled with the material, but Zuber met with me weekly and helped me. The paper and the shark tank interview have been the hardest things I have had to do at GVSU, but two of the things I am the proudest of completing. If you ask for help and see Zuber when you need to, you will be fine in this class.

Zuber is one of the best profs I have had so far. The amount of knowledge I have learned this semester in this class is incredible. I appreciate how he applies things to the real world professionally and personally. The class meets twice a week, there are homework assignments for each subject and lively discussions in class. Don't skip class

I love this class. I look forward to coming to class, which is different for me, as it is an interactive class with numerous real life case studies and exercises. Although I am not wanting to go into lodging, I found the material interesting and beneficial to my own emphasis. Take him!

You will not meet someone that cares more about their students than Duane. You'll learn a lot and reach out if you need help. Homework is not demanding and he really just wants students to show up to class. Put in the effort to show up because he makes his classes entertaining with stories he has both in his personal and professional life.

Duane is the best Prof you will ever have at GV.

Duane is a great professor and is always there to help his students. HTM 373 is the class with a 40-50 page paper and a shark tank presentation. Advice: Take lots of notes for HotelSIM if you do the paper will be easier to write and prepare you for the shark tank. He gives you great feedback on the paper so use it! Do not skip class!

Zuber is HANDS DOWN my favorite professor. He is kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable. The class is challenging and a lot of work, but it never felt like busy work. You need to put effort and time into the class, but as long as you try it is not bad at all. Zuber is always there to make sure you understand and succeed! I learned SO much.

One of my favorite classes here at GVSU which is saying something as it has accounting in it. This class really helped me understand ACC201 as the courses mirror each other for the first half of the semester. Make sure you go to class as you will be lost if you skip. My favorite part of the course was Duane's energy and passion. Learning was fun

Second taking Professor Zuber and he did not disappoint. He made an otherwise boring class fun and engaging by taking the class outside of the classroom to teach concepts of the course. His lectures are engaging and informative due to his experience in the industry. Graded by few things--no busy work whatsoever. Look forward to more of his classes.

Although accounting is not my thing, Zuber taught this class in a way that I understood the basics of accounting. He is very kind and incredibly helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions as he encourages it as he knows the material is harder

I have never had a professor care as much as Duane! He provides you with amazing information and resources. The course was hard. I had never really took such a deep dive into financial statements before, but he made it so relatable and made himself approachable when I needed any help.
