I am not a math person at all. Though he really knows his stuff, he is a great teacher. If you ask him, he will Definitely help you until you get it. Math is difficult so it matter to have a good and patient teacher.
its pretty fast pace and you get LOTS of homework. Class is basically all homework and test. He's an awesome professor, if you pay attention and keep up the class should be pretty good.
I never thought that I would enjoy a math class so much. Not only does he know his stuff, but he makes sure you understand it as well. He truly has a genuine concern for the success of his students. Phan has the greatest personality you could have for a math teacher and if you really want to learn, you can't go wrong in his class.
Awesome guy. Knows his stuff like the back of his hands. Phan genially cares for his students and he has a great way of teacher math where you ACTUALLY LEARN something. I to take the Intermediate course in the summer and I was so excited to see that I will have him. Math is awesome when someone teaches it the way he does. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Fast talker and works from the beginning to the very end. No brakes, so much notes. Good guy just needs to slow down when talking and needs to give more time for writing.
This is a difficult class, but it's not because Mr. Phan is a difficult teacher, it's because I have hard time with the content, so it's not his fault. The only criticism is that I can't really follow what he says when we take notes and I get the steps mixed up.
he takes time out of his day to make you fully understand the concept.
Duc was AWESOME. I am 47 years old and I did not go to a traditional college 30 years ago was because I didn't think I could do math. When I got in this class with Mr. Phan (Duc) TAUGHT me, really taught me how to understand it in a way that no EVER had, I will forever be grateful that we crossed paths. He HELPED me and I can't thank him enough
Every lesson he teaches is very clear. He takes his time on the things you do not understand. His test grading is very good.
It's an easy class if you just show up and pay attention and do the work that needs to be done
Material is not hard just pay attention and take notes. I took a summer class so all I did was study one day before each test and made A's. The homework has unlimited attempts so there is no reason you shouldn't make a 100. Fairly easy to pass or make a good grade with some effort.
I took a summer course and while time management was difficult, overall it was a simple course if you have taken algebra in highschool. Do the homework early and take the tests and you should make a solid grade. He is proficient at teaching and as long as you pay attention you should be good. Draw him turtles on the test. He likes them.
I took this during summer 2 so I had to learn everything in very little time so it was way harder cause he moves fast and makes you feel stupid when you ask questions in class, other than that he's pretty chill but lots of hw
This Professor will sit down and tutor you when needed, he always encourages mistakes to fix them in class and uses that to help others not make those mistakes.
Solid course, especially for the summer. Do the homework and don't skip the tests and you should be alright. Draw him turtles on the tests he likes them.
Great teacher! Recommend him to anyone who struggles in math
Instructor went thru lecture quickly and goes over it several times in order for students to understand his lecture. Reviews are helpful, but he doesn't give out the answers.
He cares if your struggling he would help you I recommend him, he personally isn't hard it's the math that's hard but he's a good teacher
Math is my worst subject, but finally I was able to comprehend. Professor Phan truly cares about his students & wants them to succeed & understand. I wouldn't take math with any one else!
He cares if your struggling he would help you I recommend him, he personally isn't hard it's the math that's hard but he's a good teacher remommended
Took this class over the summer for college algebra and I he helped me to really understand it.
Dr. Phan is super funny and a great teacher! He gives extra credit as well.
Coming from someone who isn't naturally good at math, this professor does a great job at breaking everything down and making sure you understand what you're doing. Be ready to work a lot outside of class, because homework is very important part of your grade and if you neglect it you're probably not going to do very well in this class.
Took this class over the summer for college algebra and I he helped me to really understand it. He was really helpful.
Duc Pham is amazing about organizing lecture during class. He's willing to help if you raise your hand and respect when you are not really clear about what you was wrong. Moreover, he has some extra credit during the class to help you increase your score. He is a wonderful professor!
there is a lot of work crammed into the summer course (the one I took) but Duc can make things easy to understand. if you are struggling just ask and he will help break things down!
Professor Duc is great! He's funny, relatable, and very intelligent in what he teaches. I took this class in the summer time so it was a little hectic to learn everything by the next test, but he really does take the time to make sure you understand whats going on. Tests are a little hard not gonna lie, wish he would curve tests to help us out.
Mr. Duc is very caring, helpful, accessible outside the class. His lectures are very interesting, sometimes he goes fast but if you tell him he will slow down for you. He cares and wants to make sure you understand the material. Expect to spend extra several hours on homework. If you not gonna study but expect to pass not gonna happen.
I definitely learned a lot in this class . This professor is great, very knowledgeable. If you in a math major this is good professor to take, you will learn a lot. Expect to study outside of class. Makes his lectures interesting and easy to understand.
He's very caring. Dedicates a lot of time to make sure you understand. Gave us a lot of extra time on the tests an on the final so it means he really cares if you do good. Stays after class to help you. He wants you to succeed and learn math. So thankful I had this professor!
Mr. Phan is a good professor and effectively communicates the information we need need as students. However he's kind of standoffish and rude sometimes. Guess you have to take the bad with the good sometimes.
Lots of power points and challenging tests but will explain topics till you understand
His test are not multiple choice, and he wont give you the formulas. Be ready to take extensive notes and always know what youre learning. He randomly calls you out and asks a question in class, almost every time you meet.
The homework is easy to understand but there is a lot of it. He is negotiable with due dates as long as he knows youre interested in the class and participate often. If you miss a day, you will miss a lot of instruction but its all in the book and can be taught to yourself from reading the chapter you missed. no extra credit. tests are hard. do hw
We have lots of homework online that is all averages into one grade. That grade gets averaged with 4 tests so theres arent many opportunities to recover if you mess up on something. However he does give good feedback when you ask for help.
He teaches really good and makes sure you understand everything. He can be rude and disrespectful at times especially during your teaching presentation. Lots of online homework and make sure you keep up with it! His tests are really hard.
too fast
Doesnt give extra credit. Must pay close attention.
This class was a good learning experience and I am glad I took this class instead of regular
He's a good professor just a lil tough
Few pop quizzes, but beware
You really have to pay attention And makes you work for your grade.
Mr. Phan is a great teacher, he makes sure we fully understand the topic before he continues teaching
I think hes a good teacher but he asks a lot of questions and he like everyone to participate.
Awesome teacher makes you really understand what he teaches
He is very caring and good at teaching but his teaching skills arent universal. The homework helps my grade a lot but I dont feel like the review prepares me for the test at all. Other than that hes a cool dude.
The course work isn't necessarily difficult, but he is tough in understanding. Once you get itt
Teacher is a cool guy and a very relatable man. He may pick on you a bit but he has a reason for it all. Probably the most effective teaching style and makes you learn a lot, but you have to pay attention of course. Hard subject but he makes sires you know it so you can pass.
The homework helps your grade and is easy because you get unlimited tries. The tests are very specific so it is smart to study everything including vocabulary. Sometimes when you ask question he makes you feel stupid but it is still advisable to ask questions. Overall an ok teacher but I would not take this class again.
Teaches material fast
Professor Phan is a cool professor, and makes his expectations clear. You definitely have to work for your grade in this class, so study and make sure you understand the "why" behind concepts.
There's a lot of homework, but for the most part I understand.
Lots of homework and the tests are escalations if the homework. Sometime the homework and the review dont cover the difficulty level of the tests
Hes cool and t aches well if you ask questions and stuff
Great teacher but it's a hard class so take good notes and study from the book.
Funny, nice, goes very fast, pay attention and study for the exams and you will be fine
Teaches fast and hard.
Notes are everything. If you have good notes exams should be easier to take.
Teach good. Easy learn.
Good overall.
He teaches really fast but hes a cool dude
The explanations are not clear and he teaches really fast.
This class is definitely my hardest class, but he's a really great teacher and there's no way i'd be passing if he wasn't the teacher.
He's a little sassy and pretty confusing at times - ask questions
Makes you work for your grade and makes sure mostly everyone understands
Professor Phan makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. If you dont understand something and you ask him to explain something again, he doesnt know how to explain it a different way. Hes regularly late to class, and then holds us pass the bell. He goes too fast. Hes often rude to specific students.
He is a great teacher, I only needed this class because of a prerequisite but sill he is really good at explain stuff. If you follow along with the homework during class you will make everything up. You can ALWAYS get up to a 100 on the homework because it's unlimited tries. He's a really funny guy and even will drop a lowest grade at the end.
Great teacher. I am not the best at math. He really teaches you what you what you need to know. 10/10!!!
Professor Phan teaches well and I understand in class but his tests are very hard. I wish we could have a notecard on tests to remember formulas and key facts because my memory is bad and so it effects my test grades. Tests are not multiple choice. Make sure you come to class or you will be lost. Grade only comes from tests and homework.
His Test are not that hard. You have to study hard for the test. But if you do not understand any material just let him know and he will help you.
Professor Phan really cares about his students succeeding. He even offers 5 points extra credit EVERY test as long as you are not on your phone in class and have your calculator. His tests are fair but you will do good if you take good notes and study.
His class was pretty hard but if you study youll do well.
Great teacher, just pay attention and you'll be fine, write down EVERY example, it helps a lot. He can be fast sometimes so try to keep up. Overall, he's like a student
He's a great professor, he tries his best to make sure that every individual understands the content given before the exams. His exams are more over concepts versus math so pay attention to what he says in class!
Its alright not bad
He is a good teacher and gives great feedback. Its a class where you have to pay attention and do all your homework in order to pass the class.
if u dont do the homework, you wont pass. you look down for one second? you wont pass. bring a phone to class? you wont pass. moral of the story, write down everything and ask questions bc you will fall behind in .1 seconds
Do the homework and youll pass. Very relatable teacher, funny and nice as long as you respect him. Fun class environment, always looked forward to the class.
Mr. Phan is a great professor he takes his time to show you how to work out problems. If you are having trouble with math take his class you won't regret it.
Tons of ways to pass and sabe your grade, just have to apply yourself.
HES A FUNNY TEACHER, GOOD TEACHING. RECOMMEND TO YOU GUYS
Hes a very good explainer and hell go over a lot of examples if you need it. Ask questions, take good notes, pay attention, do your homework (you get unlimited attempts), and stay off your phone. Dont expect an easy A though. You will have to understand the content and study to make a great grade.
He be having a basic haircut everyday. Only cut it once the whole semester. He be dressing very casual basic. Always trying to flex his money with his Gucci laptop bag and his enormous iPad. He tries to be cool like his students. Im Asian too and I felt like he really tries to be me. But overall probably one of my FAVORITE teachers. Fun guy.
Like any class, you should definitely study! Hes always at assistance whenever needed so dont be afraid to ask for help. Also, professor is a funny dude so thats a plus. He got some sass in him, lol.
Duc (pronounced Duke) is a caring teacher. I took his class in the summer and I was scared because it was a calculus class in the summer but it turned out to be a good class. The homeworks are online. The exams are just like the homeworks. His lectures are easy to understand. He lets students put homework problems on the board and we solve it.
Professor Phan is a cool guy. I don't know why but the man doesn't like reviews. He knows what he teaches but he's that type of professor that loves to challenge his students for no reason especially on an exam. I take his Pre-Cal final in a few days and I just need some prayers guys. Over all cool guy, and good teacher but an A isn't easy.
To be honest, his class isnt worth it. His Pre-Cal class is harder than the actual Pre-Cal. He tries to make the test hard and gives a short period of time to do it. Half the class dropped mid semester! Hes a chill guy but the class is too hard for no apparent reason. He has reviews but they dont help!
Last days of his class this spring and damn i wish i could take his pre cal class next semester. he does a great job at explaining everything and will help you as much as you ask. if you are a student who actually wants to study and pays attention this his class is very clear cut and will do great on it.
The course was definitely very challenging with lots of online hw but I think Prof. Phan did a great job explaining each units. The tests were very hard but he's a very lenient grader and will give partial credit. Funny and sarcastic guy. Definitely would take his class again.
Very concise and to the point in his teaching, always available to students in and out of class. He's extremely engaging, made learning exciting and interesting. Gave LOTS of practice problems similar to his exams, so much so that I ended up giving him my seaweed snacks bc i didn't have time to eat them. Made an A in the class, but at what cost?
Professor Phan is a chill person. I took him for Calculus I in summer. He is good at explaining things. You have to expect a lot of homework, but it prepares for the exams. I passed his class with a B, but I could have gotten an easy A by doing all the homework and by going over all the problems that he pointed out on his exam review sheet.
If you're looking for someone who's going to make math a bit easier and make it enjoyable, then Professor Day Phan is the one for you. You'll have tons of homework, but how else are you willing to learn. The reviews are similar to the tests, and he gives amazing extra credit.
Great dude, but teaching style is hard for me
Very clear with instruction and willing to give help. Test questions are clear and gives helpful information and tips.
He is a good teacher and answers all questions but you have to keep up and show up and actually take notes to understand not just to write down
The test are jam packed with information He is a fast teacher A little aggressive with his teaching style Will pick on you Do your homework and youll be fine
I like his technique or teaching. My other teachers just give us the paper and expect us to know what to do, but he takes time to explain each chapter. Im a visual learner , so when we do examples on the board, i learn better.
Professor Phan, is a great professor for TCC STATS, he is very clear with his instructions & execution. If you dont show up to class you will fail, most likely. Dont be afraid to speak in class because he will help you if you ask. He does engage with his students, hes genuine & cool. Study the material & ask questions, & you will be successful.
His lectures are straight out of the textbook, so the textbook is a necessity for this course. Homework is due weekly and if you fall behind it will bring your grade down, but it is ultimately very easy.
I had Professor Phan for Dual Credit Statistics and hes very compassionate about his teaching and sets specific guidelines and expectations for the class. He does like to pick on people to answer textbook problems so be sure to pay attention to the lecture. He doesnt like phones out either but regardless you wont survive if you are on it.
This was an extremely hard class. I heard that stats is supposed to be a really easy math class which makes me believe that he is not a good professor. Homeworks are easy but the tests are extremely hard. The highest grade someone got on the first test was an 85. He'll tell you that the tests get easier but I highly disagree.
I would NOT recommend this class to anyone. This class will will have you worried about your GPA a alot. He does not know how to teach, test are nothing like what he teaches, material is straight from the textbook. He explains everything exactly how the textbook explains it, takes no time to explain it in his own way or any better than the textbook
This was genuinely the worst class I have ever taken. He will open up the online version of the book on the board, lecture on the absolute basics of the chapter. When I would get to the homework, it would be FULL of these incredibly advanced questions that were not covered in the lecture. The tests were even worse. At least half the class failed.
Duc Phan is a great person. I enjoyed the chats I had with him but I didn't really like his teaching. Made simple things and concepts complicated but wIll work out problems or questions with you on the board and will call random volunteers every class. Homework due every Sunday night. Not the easiest prof. but an A is obtainable.
For some reason, he likes to challenge his students. The test was very hard and it was not really covered well in his lecture. Basically, you have to learn it by yourself.
Good guy. Not a good teacher, expects you to know everything, 80% of the class fails his test. Test are nothing like the reviews. Good luck
Professor Phan makes sure students are engaged in class and he provides many resources so that students are able to grasp the material. I didn't attend lectures very often, but I was still able to learn and be able to pass all the exams. Exams are pretty tough, so make sure you go over the reviews very well and keep practicing problems.
Uses "My math lab" for homework and test. This is great because you can keep attempting homework until you get 100% but I found the test much harder than the homework. Can go a little fast but will slow down if you ask. Be prepared to be called on!!
If you show up to lectures be prepared to be called on out of nowhere. Tests are always harder than the homework.
Prof. Phan is a great teacher, he does not only want his students to pass but also wants us to clearly understand the lessons and know how to solve the problems by ourselves. He takes time to explain every question that we have and gives us many examples to practice with. If you stick with him and follow his instructions, an A is feasible!
Worst professor I have ever had hands down. The tests are nothing like the homework. He was horrible at helping me improve in the class (so felt like he did not care). Lack of response. Very hard and lectures go by really fast and be ready to be picked on. Paid too much money on the class when I could have gotten a better professor.
This class had of ALOT of HW on MyMathLab, but it does have unlimited attempts. Tests are on the same platform & are similar to the HW. I took this as a 5wk summer class and had a test every week for a total of four exams. The final exam was the fifth exam and was due 2 days after the last exam. Prof phan is a solid choice, just study & do the HW.
Professor Phan is overall an amazing professor as I can tell that he really wants his students to learn, but the problem was his lectures didnt make sense as they were rushed plus the tests were way harder than the homeworks and the lectures he provided. Sadly have to take this class again. I wouldnt recommend taking his class if u want to pass
Hes a really nice professor and I can tell he wants his students to learn. But the exams are definitely harder than the HW. And sometimes the HW explains how to do the stats better than his lectures. Also he randomly calls on people to answer questions, and I'm not a big fan of that. Other than that he's a nice person.
Hw is easier than the actual test. He gets upset when you ask questions but also gets upsets when you don't ask questions. He tends to call on people and call out ECHS students a lot. He makes a lot of rude comments about your grade out loud in class. Very judgmental. Overall an okay professor, good luck if you take his class.
This professor picks on his students especially if you're an ECHS student. Exams are harder than the homework he assigns. He either likes you or he doesn't. I had to study a lot and attend all of the SI sessions in order to pass my exams. I don't advise this professors but if you do decide to take him, it's not the end of the world.
This class was the worst stats class ever. I just took the final and I failed it so badly because first of all: he didn't give us a review??? On top of that he told us the final would be multiple choice and 50 questions, plus over everything. The final was over like 2 of the tests, only 25 questions, and very few were actually multiple choice.
His workload is way too much and at the beginning he says that one of the great things about his class is that you can work on homework in class, but then he gets mad later on when you do & calls you out on it. He is very opinionated and kind of nosy, also his tests are super hard and you REALLY have to study to get a decent grade. Don't recommend
His class is so confusing. He might mean well, but his lectures literally take so long and it takes forever to actually get to learning what we need to do for the homework and tests. Not to mention the tests are super rushed and even if you study half the questions on the exams don't correlate to the exam reviews. I would not recommend his class.
He cannot teach and should not be a professor. He seems like a decent guy but his class is way too difficult to be worth it. His class is not worth the stress or mental draining I got throughout it. Please do not take this class, it is really bad :(
I felt that if there would have been more extra credit to assist with grades, it maybe would have been better.
Probably the best professor I've ever had--extremely knowledgeable, caring, kind, and funny! He challenges students and makes you work for a decent grade, only because he genuinely wants you to learn and grow. If you are studious and dedicated, he will appreciate your work ethic and help you. Complete all of the HW and extra credit!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you aren't already a PRO at math. This is the single hardest class I've taken at TCC. For reference I have a 3.8 GPA, so trust me when I tell you his class is difficult. He gave us 6 test in one semester and dropped none of them. He also gave over 450 problems of math home work for a single semester. Save yourself!!!
WORST TEACHER AT TCC i have a decent 3.4 gpa and this was difficult
I do NOT recommend this class if you took Math 1332. The teacher picks the hardest exam questions possible instead of checking for understanding. The exams are 70% or more of your grade so be aware if you have any challenges with test taking. I was on the Honor's list before taking this class but will have to retake this course in the Fall.
